UCSC Slugcast

Isabella certainly did not understand the college system when coming into UCSC. But when you're a small fish in a big pond, having a more intimate learning community can help remove the stress of being on a large campus. In this episode, Isabella talks more about life at UCSC with the residential college system.

In this episode, Savannah explores the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band (AMTB) Relearning Program hosted at the UCSC campus Arboretum. The program is a collaborative effort between the AMTB and the Garden to assist the Tribe in their efforts of cultural revitalization, recuperation and relearning of dormant cultural knowledge, and environmental justice. With finals approaching, it is a good time for students to recognize the different ways to promote self care in their lives. In this episode, Sharan shares both personal tips and tips from CARE's Instagram, as well as some CARE, CAPS, and FitLife resources available for students.

Join Isabella as they explore the Hidden History of Santa Cruz's Chinatown. The Monterey Bay Area once had a thriving Chinese immigrant population, which is not evident from the current demographic makeup of Santa Cruz County. In the 19th century, these communities experienced xenophobic discrimination from the surrounding community that pushed them to the outskirts of the community. Recently, the town of Santa Cruz erected a memorial bridge along the San Lorenzo River pedestrian path to mark where Santa Cruz's last Chinatown once stood.
