Ep 246246: Adnan Syed- Part 1
Part 1 of 2. Watch on YouTube Here: https://youtu.be/Kj4L17UODxk On January 13th, 1999, 18-year-old high school senior, Hae Min Lee was reported missing by her family. She’d been leaving school that day, but had never arrived to pick up her younger cousin from school. In the time span of less than 30 minutes it seemed, the young woman had vanished. Less than a month later, Hae’s body was found in a park, partially buried. She had been strangled to death. The investigation that ensued resulted in Hae’s ex-boyfriend, 17-year-old Adnan Syed, being convicted of her murder and sentenced to life in prison. However, after a judge recently ruled that the prosecution had failed to turn over evidence that could’ve altered the jury’s verdict, Adnan’s sentence was vacated. Shortly after, the state dropped the charges against him. Was Adnan Syed wrongly convicted? Was his counsel ineffective or was he truly proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt? Ep 245245: Yuba County 5
On Friday, February 24th, 1978, five young men left their homes to head to a basketball game at Chico State in Chico, California. This was the boys’ favorite team and they had a basketball tournament they were playing in themselves the next day. They were known as the Gateway Gators and were competing in the Special Olympics. The game ended and the boys’ favorite team won. They left the school and stopped at a nearby service station to grab snacks before the hour drive home together. Unfortunately, the young men never made it home. Months later, remains were found in the mountains of the Plumas National Forest. The young men, rather than continue south down the interstate, in a straight shot to their hometown, had veered east and continued in the wrong direction for quite some distance. Their car was found abandoned. Four of the young men were found dead. People assumed that because four of the young men were described as “slow” or mentally disabled, they’d just gotten lost, but their families knew better. They still, to this day, believe that the young men were victims of foul play. With one man still missing, there are no answers to this case, only theories and rumors. What happened to the Yuba County Five? TRIGGER WARNINGS: outdated terminology for intellectually and developmentally disabled, that can be considered offensive now (these words were used to describe the men at the time when it was more acceptable). Ep 244244: 244: Serial Killer Larry Hall and the Inside Man Jimmy Keene
Larry Hall is a murderer, rapist, and suspected serial killer. Authorities believe that Hall was active throughout the 80s and into the early 90s. Hall was arrested in 1994, and eventually confessed to kidnapping 15 year old Jessica Roach. Although Jessica Roach had been abducted and murdered, Hall didn’t confess to murdering her. While waiting for an appeal to his conviction, the FBI feared that Hall might be released and reached out to another prisoner, James Keene, and sent him undercover to try to obtain a confession from Hall. Ep 243243: Serial Killer: Gainesville Ripper
In late August 1990, Gainesville, Florida fell victim to a serial killer. Over the span of less than a week, five college students were brutally murdered in their homes. Police couldn’t figure out who was behind the gruesome attacks and the Gainesville community was absolutely terrified. Doors were triple locked and roommates were sleeping in shifts. A suspect was jailed, but the DNA didn’t match. Meanwhile, a man was jailed in Ocala, Florida, the suspect of multiple armed robberies. Two completely different types of crimes, and no one suspected that that robberies and the murders were committed by the same person. To their suprise, they were wrong, and the man responsible for the Gainesville murders and countless armed robberies, was actually already in prison. Unbeknownst to detectives though, Danny Rolling’s murders in Gainesville weren’t his first. Rolling had killed before he’d even entered the state of Florida, annihilating an entire family, all before he was fearfully dubbed the Gainesville Ripper. Murder Mixtape 189: Kelley Clayton
On the evening of September 28th, 2015, Kelley Clayton was at home with her two young children. Her husband, Thomas, wasn’t home that night. He was at a friend's house playing poker. When the poker game ended around midnight, he made his way home and walked into what can only be described as a scene from a horror movie. In his home, he found his two young children, and after searching, found Kelley’s body. She had been BRUTALLY beaten to death. Thomas called the police and investigators set out to find the person or persons responsible. ***TRIGGER WARNING*** Murder, Piece of Sh*t Husband Hang with us: Follow Us on Instagram Like Us on Facebook Join our Case Discussion Group on Facebook Get Killer Queens Merch Bonus Episodes Support Our AMAZING Sponsors: Miss KB: Wanna know why we call our Dad “Miss KB?” Be sure to head tokillerqueens.link/misskb to grab this audio for free! Ep 242242: Entwistle Family Murders
On January 21st, 2006, Priscilla Materazzo called the local police. She couldn’t get in touch with her daughter, Rachel Entwistle or her son-in-law Neil. The couple had a 9-month-old baby named Lily, so Priscilla was growing increasingly concerned. She’d been to their house, with no answer. A family friend also stopped by the Entwistle home for a scheduled dinner, but there was no sign of the family anywhere. Police did a quick search of the house, but found nothing out of the ordinary. The next day, Priscilla filed an official missing persons report on her daughter and her family. Police returned to the house for a further search, when they noticed a smell coming from the master bedroom. Under the covers, they found the deceased bodies of 27-year-old Rachel and her baby, Lily. Neil was nowhere to be found. Had Rachel murdered her own child, then turned the gun on herself, in a deep state of postpartum depression or had Neil Entwistle fled the home after brutally murdering his family? Murder Mixtape 188: Danielle Van Dam
bonusOn a Saturday morning in February of 2002, Brenda and Damon Van Dam cooked breakfast in their San Diego home for themselves and their three children. Both of their boys came downstairs to eat, but their daughter didn’t. When Brenda walked upstairs to her bedroom, she found her seven-year-old daughter’s bed empty. Danielle Van Dam was gone. Less than a month later, her decomposed remains were found on a rural road. Because of the advanced stage of decomposition, they were unable to determine what her cause of death was. Even though they didn’t have all of the answers, police had already arrested a man for Danielle’s murder before her body was even found. Despite DNA evidence linking Danielle to the man’s house and RV, many still speculated that the Van Dam parents’ “wild” lifestyle led to their daughter’s kidnapping and murder. Was Danielle the victim of a pre-planned abduction by a neighbor or did her mom and dad’s partying lead to her death? Ep 241241: The Murder of Dylan Redwine
EOn November 18th, 2012, Elaine Hall dropped her 13-year-old son, Dylan, off at the airport to head to a court-appointed stay with his father in Durango, Colorado. She didn’t realize that would be the last time she ever saw him. Less than 24 hours after Dylan arrived at his father’s house, he was reported missing. From the moment his father texted Elaine to tell her that he was missing, Elaine and the rest of her family knew that her ex-husband was behind his disappearance. Years passed before the family was able to find any closure, which included everyone finding out the shocking discovery that could’ve given him the reason to murder his son. Murder Mixtape 186: The Murder of Terry King
On the morning of November 26th, 2001, a call went out to emergency services about a fire at the home of Terry King and his two sons, Derek and Alex. Once the blaze was extinguished and investigators began to search the home, they discovered the body of Terry King. His two sons, however, were missing. Police combed through the neighborhood and questioned neighbors, but Derek and Alex weren’t located until the following day, when they were brought to authorities by a neighbor. After speaking with the boys, it didn’t take long for everyone to realize that there was more to the story than what they initially thought. Ep 240240: Halloween Special- 3 Murder Cases in 1
Today’s episode will cover three different cases. First is the murder of Kendra and Alysha Suing at the hands of their stepfather, Lawrence Harris. He would claim that it was a protection spell he learned studying witchcraft that went awry, which caused the girl's death. Then we take a look at John Crutchley, the “Vampire Rapist.” Crutchley was convicted of kidnapping and rape, but he is suspected by authorities to be a serial killer with as many as 30 victims. Last, we will take a brief look at Richard Jordan Tarver, who knew he could survive a zombie apocalypse… but only if he knew what it felt like to kill someone. ***TRIGGER WARNING*** Murder / Murder of Children / Mental Health Issues / Rape / Torture / Kidnapping / Stabbing / Gun Violence Hang with us: Follow Us on Instagram Like Us on Facebook Join our Case Discussion Group on Facebook Get Killer Queens Merch Bonus Episodes Support Our AMAZING Sponsors: OG Episodes - Want access to our first 45 episodes? Murder Mixtape 185: Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos
EIn January of 2004, 27-year-old Terrance Williams disappeared in the early morning hours. His mother soon found out that he was last seen getting into the back of a police cruiser in Naples, Florida. The deputy reported that he’d dropped Terrance off at a nearby gas station. It wasn’t long before Terrance’s mother found that her son wasn’t the last young man seen in the police car belonging to the same deputy: Steven Calkins. Three months prior, 23-year-old Felipe Santos disappeared after getting into Calkins’ service vehicle following a minor car accident. Calkins said that he’d also dropped Felipe off at a nearby gas station. There was no video footage and no witnesses to corroborate Calkins’ story. Neither man has been seen since. Was this just a coincidence and was Calkins just the unluckiest man in the world? Or, more likely, was Calkins responsible for the disappearances, and likely murders, of Terrance and Felipe? Murder Mixtape 184: Heather Saul
***TRIGGER WARNING*** Gun Violence - Assault - Choking / Strangulation - Mentions of Drug Use and Death by Drug Overdose In July of 2015, Neal Falls responded to an online ad that had been posted by Heather Saul. At the time, Heather was working as a sex worker and agreed to meet with Neal at her apartment, with a friend waiting on the front porch for security. It was immediately apparent that Falls was there to at the very least harm and more likely kill Heather. She fought back, and ultimately killed Falls. When the police investigated, they discovered that there was more to Neal Falls than just a man looking for a sex worker. Ep 238238: The Murder of Garrett Phillips (Part 2)
On a rainy October afternoon in the small town of Potsdam, New York, a young woman called 911 to tell them that she heard some odd noises coming from the apartment across from hers. The noises sounded like a child in danger. When an officer finally arrived, he heard footsteps inside and the sound of the door’s lock clicking when he knocked. When he finally gained access, the officer found 12-year-old Garrett Phillips pulseless. He began CPR and Garrett was transported quickly to the hospital, but he ultimately died. The only evidence left behind was a bent window screen and a few fingerprints. Investigators immediately focused their attention on the victim’s mother’s ex-boyfriend, Nick Hillary, and he became an outcast, despite no physical evidence of his involvement. Were police targeting him because of his race and pushing another prime suspect aside because he was, GET THIS, another police officer? Or was the investigator’s tunnel vision being exagerrated and Nick Hillary really was responsible for the savage murder of a little boy? Four-year-old D’Wan Sims was reported missing by his mother, who said he was walking behind her, and when she looked back, he was gone. The immediate search did not find the little boy, however police did find that the mother’s story about what happened did not match up with video surveillance footage. Ep 236236: The Murder of Brittany McGlone (with Case Update)
On May 4th, 2007, Patricia Tice opened her door to find two sheriff deputies standing on her front porch. They told her that her 19-year-old daughter, Brittany McGlone was deceased. They wouldn’t elaborate, just telling her that her body was en route to a funeral home. Patricia soon found out that not only was her daughter dead, she had been brutally murdered. Brittany had suffered a vicious attack while sleeping and died from blunt force trauma to the head. She was sleeping in her boyfriend’s bed after a long night shift at work. Her boyfriend and his family were out of the house during the day and Brittany’s boyfriend returned home to find her dead in his bed, covered in blood. One of the first things that crossed Patricia’s mind when she found out her daughter was dead? “That son of a bitch killed her.” Patricia and the rest of her family believe that Brittany’s boyfriend was involved in her murder, along with a family friend with a history of violent crimes. Ep 235235: The Murder of Lauri Waterman
On November 15th, 2004, the remains of 50-year-old Lauri Waterman were found in a burned out vehicle near the north side of the island of Craig, Alaska. Her remains were so badly burned that only a skull was immediately recognizable. Lauri was loved and respected in her small town, often referred to as a “saint” by most of the people who knew her. She volunteered and worked with children with special needs. Who would’ve killed the generous and loving mother and wife in such a brutal manner? Ep 231231: Jeffrey MacDonald
On February 17th, 1970, 26-year-old Jeffrey MacDonald called 911, saying that there’d been a stabbing at his home and people were dying. MacDonald, a Green Beret, lived on the Army base in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Military police responded quickly to the MacDonald house to find a horrific scene: 26-year-old Colette and the MacDonald’s two daughters, five-year-old Kimberley and two-year-old Kristen had been stabbed and bludgeoned to death. MacDonald, however, was still alive with only minor injuries. His story quickly began to unravel to investigators as he continued to blame the murders on a group of intruders, whom he described as “drug-crazed hippies”. Ep 229229: 229: David Crespi: Failed by the System or Child Killer?
On January 20, 2006, Kim Crespi came home to her beautiful house in Matthews, North Carolina after a hair appointment, only to be stopped by a police barricade. She was informed that her two, five-year-old twin daughters, Tess and Sammie, had been murdered, and her husband, David, had confessed and was in police custody. David, a man who had never outwardly shown any signs of violence or aggression. A man who, to his friends, co-workers, and family, seemed like a hard-working, loving, and happy person. Even more frightening than the reality that David had murdered two of his daughters, was the likelihood that David would have murdered his wife and remaining 3 children had they been home. What could have caused this husband and father to brutally kill his two twin girls? Was it a conscious choice he made or was it induced by his recent changes in medication prescribed for his depression and anxiety? Ep 228228: Charles Manson [Cult]- Part 2
Part 2 of 2. On the morning of August 9, 1969, a housekeeper arrived at her job to find a horrific scene. There were five dead bodies in the home on 10050 Cielo Drive on Benedict Canyon in Beverly Hills. The victims were actress Sharon Tate and several of her friends, as well as a teenager who had been visiting the house’s caretaker. Scrawled on the front door in blood was one word: PIG. The following night, a wealthy couple was brutally massacred in their LA home. There were several more words written in blood on the walls of the couple’s home, most notably a phrase on the refrigerator that read “Helter Skelter”. This made seven brutal murders in less than 48 hours. It wasn’t long before investigators connected the two attacks, along with an earlier murder, tracing them all back to a cult-like group called the family. The family was led by a single individual, who exhibited control over all of them. The man was Charles Manson. Investigators had a hard time believing that one man could have such an influence over others that they would murder for him, yet after meeting Manson, they learned that he was no ordinary person. **ALL OF THE TRIGGER WARNINGS** Murder, brutality, torture, murder of a pregnant woman, sexual assault of adults and children, drug use, racism, and cults. Ep 221221: The [Unsolved] Murder of Susan Powell- Part 1
**TRIGGER WARNINGS** murder, child murder, domestic abuse, violent death, child pornography, SuicideOn December 7, 2009, 28-year-old Susan Powell didn’t show up to work. She never dropped her two sons off at daycare. Nobody could reach her and she hadn’t been seen since the night before. Her sons and her husband were also nowhere to be found. Within a few hours, Josh, Charlie, and Braden Powell had been located, but Susan was still missing. Josh said that he’d taken their boys on a spontaneous camping trip the night before. In a snowstorm. In Utah. In December. He said that they’d left Susan at home and had no idea where she was. The investigation that followed revealed a crumbling marriage weighed down by Josh Powell’s controlling and abusive behavior. Unfortunately, before investigators were able to determine Josh’s exact role in Susan’s disappearance, he made one last horrific play for power, giving a middle finger to his wife’s family and friends, taking the last pieces of evidence to his grave. Ep 217217: Breana Noojin Nix- Murder or Overdose?
TRIGGER WARNING: murder, drug abuse, opiate use and overdose, domestic abuse Want this episode Ad-Free: Join our Patreon for as little as $3/month and get all episodes Ad-Free! On Monday, March 2, 2020, Steven Nix called his sister-in-law, Brittany Noojin, at work. He nonchalantly told her that her sister had tried to kill herself, and that she should come over. Brittany arrived at her sister’s home to find that first responders were stopping resuscitation efforts and pronouncing her 32-year-old sister, Breana Noojin Nix, dead. The autopsy stated that it was an accidental death caused by an overdose of the opiate Fentanyl. Breana’s family was stunned. The beautiful, bright, ICU nurse was not a drug user and had never expressed thoughts of suicide. Less than six months later, Breana’s husband, Steven, had his ex-girlfriend move into his home and was living comfortably off the money paid to him from Breana’s life insurance policy. By this time, the Noojin family knew that Breana’s death was not an accident and strongly believed that Steven was behind it. Police, however, supported the ruling of accidental death, forcing the Noojin family to start their own investigation into what was so obviously the MURDER of Breana Noojin Nix. Ep 214214: Alonzo Brooks
EOn April 3rd, 2004, 23-year-old Alonzo Brooks left his home in Gardner, Kansas, and told his mother, Maria, he was headed to a party with friends. That was the last time she’d see her son alive. Less than 24 hours later, Maria tried to file a missing persons report on her son in La Cygne, Kansas, about an hour away from their home. Alonzo’s friends who’d given him a ride to the party somehow left without him, at a party in a small town, where he was one of only three people of color in attendance. 27 days after Alonzo went missing, his family found his body on a creekbed, not far from the farmhouse where the party had been. Strangely enough, his body wasn’t hidden, and the area had been searched multiple times before, with no signs of Alonzo. His manner of death was initially ruled as “undetermined” and closed by the KBI, stating there was no evidence of a homicide. Alonzo’s family has continued to fight to prove that he was the victim of a hate crime and that his murderers are still walking free. Want access to our first 45 episodes? Grab em here! Ep 213213: West Memphis Three
On May 5th, 1993 three 8 year old boys were reported missing by their parents. An initial search that night didn’t find the boys, but the following day, a more thorough search of areas that the boys were known to play and hang out was carried out and the bodies of Stevie Branch, Chris Byers, and Michael Moore were discovered. With very little actual evidence, three teens were arrested and found guilty of the murders. They spent years in prison before being released, and are still fighting to this day to clear their names. The state of Arkansas refuses to acknowledge any wrongdoing, and lets the true killer or killers walk free. Want access to our first 45 episodes? Grab em here! Ep 211211: Child Murderer Jon Dunkle
EIn the 1980’s, two small towns in California were shocked when two 12-year-old boys were brutally murdered. No physical evidence had been left at the crime scene and nobody knew who would want to hurt these two boys. With the help of witnesses and a sketch artist, investigators were able to connect their deaths to the disappearance of a 15-year-old boy. The suspect in question was Jon Dunkle. Despite the ease of connecting the three crimes and identifying Dunkle as a likely suspect in all three cases, Dunkle was unlike any other criminal the investigators had dealt with before. It would be years before detectives were able to finally to arrest 26-year-old Dunkle, who had been referred to as “The Peninsula Serial Killer.” Want access to our first 45 episodes? Grab em here! In January of 2014, body parts were found scattered along the frozen landscape in China Township, Michigan.
