S4 Ep 10S04E10 - Steve Evets (Part 2)
EHere we are again, and what a treat we have for you for our 74th episode. We’re always so chuffed when an episode connects with you. That can certainly be said for last year's STEVE EVETS episode. We had a feeling there was more to discover with Steve and decided to go back up North and meet with him again. We were not disappointed and neither will you be. If you’ve not heard Steve’s first episode then we urge you to go back and listen before you give this one spin. We pick up the podcast pretty much where we left off in part one but first we discuss Steve's recent health scare, a health scare that prompted a pretty huge lifestyle change for him. We must give a huge thanks to the Old Nags Head pub in Manchester for giving us a room to record this week's episode in. Another big shout out to past TSP guest JB Barrington for sorting that out for us. Top man JB! As a rule, we don't delve too often into “jobs” when talking to actors but on this ep Craig had to ask Steve about the job that pretty much changed everything for him and we get some remarkable stories because of it. If you enjoyed Part 1 with Steve then you better buckle up. Part 2 is an absolute belter. Enjoy. THIS IS EPISODE 74 OF THE TWO SHOT PODCAST & we move forward with another natter with STEVE EVETS. S4 Ep 9S04E09 - Olivia Cooke
EWhat's good TSP listeners? You are now tuned into the sound of the Two Shot Podcast and have we got a cracker of an episode for you today. It's a chat with the one and only Olivia Cooke! Liv joined us in an exceedingly retro hotel in Earl's Court and we had a proper good hour or two discussing her journey to becoming the actor and person that she is today. She and Craig talk growing up in Oldham, working in America, battling demons, therapy, levels of misbehaviour in high school, and loads, loads more. You'll know Olivia from Spielberg's Ready Player One, Vanity Fair, Bates Motel, Thoroughbreds, Me And Earl And The Dying Girl and The Limehouse Golem amongst many other brilliant things. She's an ace actor, an equally ace person and it's our pleasure to share this lovely TSP chat with you. In the intro of this episode, Craig mentions donating to our Patreon. S4 Ep 8S04E08 - Eileen Walsh
EHow the devil are you? Keeping out that winter chill? Well, we’ve got something to warm you up. It’s EPISODE 72; a beautiful natter with the extraordinary EILEEN WALSH. She’s ace. Craig & Griff met Eileen in London direct from a spin class (Eileen’s NOT Craig or Griff’s) and they hit record and began the conversation. It was one of those recording days when the winter cold hit Craig so there may be a few sneezes and tissue drops but that won’t hinder this fantastic talk as you get to know Eileen. We want to thank everyone for the astonishing support from last weeks episode and more specifically Adam’s letter that was read out at the start. It’s seemed to strike a chord with many of you and your lovely messages to Adam were so touching. We know he appreciated all of them. Let’s keep talking. For now, let’s keep listening... to this...EPISODE 72 of THE TWO SHOT PODCAST with the incredible EILEEN WALSH. ESo. One year ends. Another begins. What a year 2018 was. We started with Greg Mchugh. We went to festivals. We did some live shows. We met incredible people. We won an award. We travelled around the UK. We laughed. We cried. We were shocked. We were in awe. We were inspired. We ended 2018 with the fabulous Jodie Comer. A huge thank you to YOU for the love, support & for spreading the TSP word. This is episode 70 where we asked you for your moments. You let us know and we got 'em all together including a few choice moments from Craig & Producer Griff. PLUS... we end this episode the way we started 2018... on a high. Hope you enjoy and we’ll be back before you know it with some incredible people telling incredible human stories. But until then... THIS IS EPISODE 70 of THE TWO SHOT PODCAST. ENJOY. S4 Ep 6S04E06 - Jodie Comer
EWell. Here we all are again. It’s episode 69. As this is our last episode of 2018 it seems only fitting to think about what an incredible year it’s been. We’ve been fortunate enough to sit down and meet so many extraordinary people who’ve been so open and so honest with sharing their stories. We wanted to thank each and every one of them. It isn’t an easy thing to come and meet up with (sometimes) strangers and discuss the deep, intimate parts of your life that can be, sometimes, very revealing... not to mention sharing those to the world! This year we won a British podcast award (We told you right?). We’re so honoured that TSP got recognised alongside so many other podcasts that we love. Do go listen to the many podcasts that made the list as they will all find a place that in your podcast library, we’re sure. As we say goodbye to 2018, it’s fitting we end as we started the year...on a high. We couldn’t think of anyone better to see us out than the brilliant human that is JODIE COMER. Craig & Producer Griff met in London (Earl’s Court) to meet up with Jodie and get their podcast on. It was Jodie’s very first podcast! We’re always so honoured when people want TSP to be their first podcast outing. We don’t think this will disappoint ONE. BIT. You'll know Jodie from her show-stealing depiction of Villanelle in Phoebe Waller-Bridge's incredible Killing Eve alongside Sandra Oh and former TSP guest Susan Lynch. You might also have seen her in The White Princess, My Mad Fat Diary, Doctor Foster, Thirteen and loads of other stuff. If you’re a big fan of Jodie, then after this episode you’ll be a colossal fan. She’s absolutely ace. What a perfect way to send off the year. Thank you all so much for an ace 2018. Have a beautiful Christmas. All our peace and love for the new year. S4 Ep 5S04E05 - Jonjo O'Neill
EWhat's good TSP listeners? Hope you're all feeling decent in these dark winter months. It's getting towards mid-December and we thought we'd invite you to snuggle down next to the podcast fire of episode 68. This week we were joined by top fella Jonjo O'Neill. Jonjo shared with us one of the most moving and spellbinding hours of podcast chat that we've ever been privy to. He's warm and candid and thoughtful and his story-telling and vocal tones are an absolute pleasure to listen to on this rollercoaster of a chat. Jonjo tells us of his life growing up in West Belfast, dealing with London life, his relationships with his parents and loads, loads more. You might recognise Jonjo from his work in the Pinter Plays at the Pinter theatre or from the final act of the magnificent Coen Brothers film The Ballad of Buster Scruggs amongst many other things. We can't thank him enough for coming on and sharing his thoughts with us. We hope it moves, excites and fills you with as much hope as it did to us. Enjoy...Here's some more information about the song Craig mentions in the intro to this week's pod. Please go and buy it when it's released on the 14th of December. * some great UK podcasts have got together to release a brand-new Christmas single, called 'Sounds Of Christmas' * The Podcast All-Stars include The Modern Mann, The Guilty Feminist, The Beef & Dairy Network Podcast, Answer Me This, Wanna Be, The Comedian's Comedian, The Two Shot, The Tip Off... and more! * proceeds will go to Samuel's Charity, which helps kids living in underfunded children's wards make their lives more comfortable (The Modern Mann spoke to the charity's founder last week for episode called The Empty Seat) * to get into the Top 40 we need around 11000 sales; Ed Sheeran's no1 last year got 85k. It's entirely possible with our combined reach. * the Christmas charts are counted from 14th-21st Dec this year; so this is a strategic release * a sale is better than a play: it takes 100 streams to count as a sale. That's a lot of streaming over a week... so just part with 99p and help change lives! Get in touch... S4 Ep 4S04E04 - Jenna Russell
ETHE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN! No, not Christmas...You have until the 13th of December to send in your BEST OF MOMENTS OF 2018. You can send us the time codes of favourite clips and we’ll put them into our special Christmas episode and GIVE YOU a shout out.Send em in on the socials (@twoshotpod) OR EMAIL: [email protected] BEFORE ALL THAT... It’s EPISODE 67This week Craig & Griff travelled to London for an intensive few days of recording, and first up was a blather with the incredible JENNA RUSSELL.Craig was working in London so they took advantage of having an apartment to set up the microphones in Earls Court. After a wander to find some below average breakfast it was time to go and meet Jenna. If you’ve been to the theatre in the past 20 years then there’s a pretty good chance you’ll have seen the amazing Jenna (sorry, that makes her sound like a magician. She’s not). Craig & Jenna get the kettle on, slice up some lemon drizzle and get down to the conversation. Craig & Jenna first met 20 years ago.Craig was woefully under qualified for his first job whereas Jenna was simply perfection. Needless to say they got on. The conversation flows and revelations pop up as we get to know, really know, the quite wonderful human that is JENNA RUSSELL. It was such a pleasure for us to have Jenna on and we think you’ll love this episode. Jenna is pure class. Enjoy. Get in touch... S4 Ep 3S04E03 - Mandip Gill
EHere we are again. It’s Thursday and it’s episode 66.We’re back to normal after last weeks musical moment of happiness with the fantastic Boston Uke group. Wasn’t it a lovely moment? Thanks for all the messages about that and we’re pleased it put a smile on your face and a spring in your step. This week Craig & Producer Griff pack up the gear and head to London. Remember a while back when we sat down with The Doctor herself JODIE WHITTAKER? Well, we did promise you that we’d have more DOCTOR WHO guests coming on and of course, we didn’t want to let you down, so this week we welcome one of the Doctor’s new companions, the wonderful MANDIP GILL!!We moved locations this week in London and Mandip came to meet us near Earl’s Court and we got the kettle on, set the mics up and hit record. Mandip has infectious energy and is brilliant company. We talk; growing up in Leeds, her parents and large family, grafting at the family shop and so much more. You’re gonna love this. She’s ace. It’s, once again, a brilliant conversation and we think you’ll get to hear a side of Mandip and her history that you won’t hear anywhere else. We really hope you enjoy. S4 Ep 3A Bit Of Warmth On A Cold November Day.
EHello Two Shot Podcast listener people. Lovely of you to join us this week. Thank you. We've not got a full length chatty type episode this week, because honestly, we've run a week behind schedule. But rather than let you go without, we thought we'd bless your ears with this little slice of four-stringed joyousness that Craig happened across in a hotel in Lincolnshire. It's a lovely audio vignette that we hope brings 5 minutes of respite, pleasure and calm into your week. Can we please introduce you to "This week's guests" Get in touch... S4 Ep 2S04E02 - Ralf Little
EWe KNOW. We know what you’re thinking...“Isn’t this supposed to be an episode nattering to TASH DEMETRIOU? YES. IT WAS. We had a leeeeetttlle tech problem. You best listen to the intro and all will be revealed. SO. Onto EPISODE 64. A few months back we received an invite to be involved with the first ever Manchester podcast festival and bring TSP to a live audience. Naturally we were extremely flattered to be asked and jumped at the chance of taking the podcast to a city we not only love but have recorded many an episode. Now it was time to find a suitable guest for our Manchester audience....Who better than a home grown favourite... we managed to get in touch with RALF LITTLE and he said YES. We had a lovely natter and it was also a long natter. So much so that we’ll do a part two in 2019. Ralf, as we’re sure you’re aware, first came to our attention as Anthony or “Lurch” in the classic and much loved, The Royle Family. Since then Ralf has been popping up in all sorts of telly stuff and has been seen on stage at the National and Theatre Royal Bath quite recently. He’s very honest about his past and how he was perceived by certain media and also where he is now. It’s a belter and the audience reaction on the night was electric. We were so chuffed to have past TSP guest and friend Argh kid perform some absolute beautiful words for us to open the eve and we cannot thank him enough. He’s a class act. (Bonus audio treats coming soon for Patreon donors) Massive thanks to MANCHESTER PODCAST FESTIVAL for inviting us for their FIRST EVER FESTIVAL and also to Ralf but a HUGE THANK YOU to the incredible audience for coming out to support us. Big love to you. Please enjoy. THIS is episode 64 of THE TWO SHOT PODCAST with RALF LITTLE. Get in touch... S4 Ep 1S04E01 - Brennan Reece
EGreetings Two Shot Pod listeners. Thanks a lot for joining us this week. We've had a sit down and brew and a cake with stand-up comic Brennan Reece! We travelled to Ziferblat in Manchester's Northern Quarter to meet Brennan, who was an absolute joy to be around. He's a affable type of guy who commands a room and can't resist an opportunity to bring a smile to your face. You might have seen Brennan doing his thing at the Edinburgh fringe or at one the comedy clubs he's had in stitches over the years. You might have even seen him in one of the acting roles that he's portraying since he was a wee un. Thanks a lot for listening. Hope you enjoy. Get in touch... S3 Ep 20S03E20 - Jacob Anderson
ESpooky seasonal greetings to you all. Hope you're all doing alright. This week on the podcast we are blessed with the company of artistic polymath Jacob Anderson; nom de plume Raleigh Ritchie. You'll have seen Jacob as Grey Worm in HBO's Game Of Thrones, alongside previous TSP guests on Broadchurch, in BBC2's Episodes, and in loads of theatrical productions. As Raleigh Ritchie, Jacob recently put out the frankly brilliant single Time In A Tree which if you haven't heard his music before is as good a place as any to start. Jacob is an absolute treasure. Candid and warm and humble. This episode captures him in a self-reflective mood as he shares his struggles, strifes and hopes. He's a thoroughly lovely human and we hope he captures your hearts as much as he did ours. Big love Jacob. We've just hit #500subs on youtube - To celebrate, we're putting out this week's episode out as a full length video! S3 Ep 19S03E19 - Marc Riley
EIt’s Thursday. It’s the podcast... How the devil are yer? Is it us or are these weeks zipping by? It’s episode 61 of THE TWO SHOT PODCAST and this week we head to MANCHESTER to get our podcast on with the man with no plan, MARC RILEY!!Craig & Producer Griff headed up to the musical capital and we’re welcomed into the very lovely ZIFERBLAT on Edge Street (free tea and cake there you know?) and met Marc to natter away all things Riley. Obviously they spoke about The Fall, MES, rumours, truth, record labels, DJs and how and why he used to be known as “Lard”. You’ll know Marc (depending on your age) as an ex-member of The Fall, a BBC RADIO ONE DJ & one half of MARK & LARD, or, as BBC RADIO 6 MUSIC DJ where Monday to Thursday he hosts his own show and picks his own favourite artists to come and play live in his studio. In recent weeks he’s had TSP favourite BILL RYDER JONES in for him. It was, of course a beautiful set from Bill. Marc has belting taste in music you know. We have to say, Marc is cracking company and this shines throughout this episode and we can’t thank him enough for coming on and also for his support of the podcast. By the end of this episode you’ll understand why it’s pretty much ok NOT to have a plan in life. We really hope you enjoy this episode. We loved meeting and chattering with Marc. He’s tip top. Sit back, kick your shoes off and get involved. THIS IS EPISODE 61 of THE TWO SHOT PODCAST....WITH MARC RILEY TWO SHOT POD T-Shirt Design Comp! S3 Ep 18S03E18 - Holli Dempsey
EWhattup, whattup! It's our diamond episode and have we got an absolute diamond for you. It's the wonderful actor Holli Dempsey! You might know Holli from Ricky Gervais' Derek or from her role as Vera in Dad's Army or from her starring role in Harlots amongst loads of other ace stuff. We met Holli in our basement / dungeon recording studio at Soho's Maison Bertaux and we had a chat. A lovely, lovely chat. Holli was so honest about her upbringing and childhood and working life. It was enlightening and charming and a bit sad all at the same time. She's a fiercely strong woman with a great outlook on life and we're sure you'll love listening in to her Two Shot Podcast episode. TWO SHOT POD T-Shirt Design Comp! S3 Ep 17S03E17 - J.B. Barrington
EIt's double drop week at the Two Shot Podcast and here's your second downloadable dose. It's time to ditch the prosaic and enter the lyrical world of Mr J.B. Barrington. J.B. is a proud Salfordian who speaks his drawl with pride. A poet by trade of the performance variety. He's got stories galore and Craig and Griff went over to the East Riding of Yorkshire to commit them to tape. If you've seen Reverend and the Makers live recently, or Sleaford Mods, you may have seen J.B. taming the lions in the crowd. His aura and Gallagher-swagger make him the perfect warm-up act for any band worth their salt. The podcast opens and closes with two of the blazing poems you're likely to hear on his tours. Visit the JB Barrington page to see where you can catch him next. Hope you enjoy the pod.Get in touch... S3 Ep 16S03E16 - Nick Payne
EDO NOT ADJUST YOUR FEED.Yep. This is THE TWO SHOT PODCAST. No. It’s not Thursday. We thought we’d do a TWO EPISODE TWO SHOT PODCAST WEEK! Why? Why not. Let’s kick it off shall we? This week we travel to London to meet the incredible writer NICK PAYNE. Maybe you’ve seen Nick’s plays over the years at the Bush theatre, The Donmar Warehouse, perhaps the Royal court. Maybe even on Broadway. Well, lucky you if you have cos he’s a class writer. Recently you may have been glued to BBC1 watching his series WANDERLUST that’s coming to an end very soon. Or maybe you’re one of those people who’s saying it’s “filth” or “I didn’t pay my TV licence for this!” Well, it’s always good to get a reaction eh?If you haven’t seen it THEN DO. IT'S CLASS!! Catch it all on BBC iplayer in the uk and soon to be on NETFLIX. Craig sat down with Nick in London and that’s where they began the natter. Are we a nation of prudes? Do people jump on the bandwagon to complain about so-called filth without having seen it? They discuss so much more to about what makes Nick tick and the differences between writing for theatre and the pressures of creating a full series for TV. It’s a cracking natter and we’ll sure you agree that Nick is great company...Just to say that this episode was recorded solo as Producer Griff was up north but the difference in sound is down to Craig and his Zoom H5 which doesn’t have the slickness as norm but we know that after 10mins or so your ears will adjust and you’ll be grand.Enjoy. This is episode 58 of the Two Shot Podcast with Nick Payne.Photo credit - Evening Standard (Sorry, we didn't get any piccies this week as Craig was flying solo). Get in touch... S3 Ep 15S03E15 - Jodie Whittaker
EIT'S THURSDAY... IT'S THE PODCAST...Well, since we announced on Sunday who was joining us, there’s been a real buzz. We don’t blame you. We were thrilled to bits to sit down with Jodie in our podcast Soho base that is MAISON BETAUX and got the tea in (and also a scone). Or a scon. Or even a scurn (that’ll make sense soon) and we got right into it. Jodie has been proper busy speaking to all sorts of press in the countdown to the DR WHO launch in Sheffield but she made time to come and meet Craig & Griff and have a proper natter. Jodie is, as you’ll hear, a breath of fresh air. She’s honest, naturally hilarious and a real Yorkshire woman through and through. It was a total joy to have her on. LESS WAFFLE. MORE CHATTER. I know that’s what you’re thinking. In fact, are you still reading this? RIGHT. LET'S. GET. OUR. PODCAST. ON. THIS IS EPISODE 57 WITH JODIE WHITTAKER.ENJOY.Get in touch... S3 Ep 14S03E14 - Susan Wokoma
EAlright Two Shot Pod listeners. How goes? Hope you're all feeling reasonable or better this week. We've got a treat in store for you in the shape of an absolutely top chat with Susan Wokoma! You might know Susan from her appearances in Chewing Gum and Crazyhead or more recently her brilliant comedy short Love The Sinner for Sky. We met up with her in the basement room of Maison Bertaux in Soho and after Craig had told the unusually raucous patrons upstairs to keep the noise down, we got down to it. Susan talked movingly about her life growing up with immigrant parents, about being skint, about gentrification in her beloved London and about loads and loads more. It's an absolutely spell-binding hour or so that we're sure you'll find inspiring, heartbreaking and hilarious in various measures. S3 Ep 13S03E13 - Karl Pilkington
EHow the devil are you? Thank you so, so much downloading. Things good? Things not so good? Well put all that aside for an hour or so and let's dive into the world of KARL PILKINGTON. We announced that Karl would be joining us on Monday, as we always do (what? You don't know that? Check your social media!) and since then anticipation has been building for episode 55 and to hear more of what makes Karl, well... Karl. Craig & Producer Griff travelled south (London's soho to be exact) to meet Karl at the hotel he was staying in. Tea was ordered, microphones were set up and we hit the record button. It's a bit of a podcast of two halves this really. Craig and Karl start off by having a bit of a moan about all sorts of stuff (well, it was quite early in the morning) and then just before it turns into a full whinge about the state of everything they think is wrong, it's a hand brake turn into Karl's life and his past and what's happening right now. Actually while you're here... what's happening right now is this: https://www.skygroup.sky/corporate/media-centre/articles/en-gb/meet-karl-in-first-look-trailer-for-new-sky-one-comedy-sick-of-it Karl's done with all his travel show stuff and now he heads into sitcom territory with a show cowritten by himself and long term collaborator RICHARD YEE. 'SICK OF IT' starts sept 27th at 10pm on Sky 1 & NOW TV. And before you ask, no, we havnt been sponsored by Sky One. We just like Karl and happen to think his show is dead, dead good. Oh, and there may be a TSP connection for the very first episode of his show... Hmmm. It's a very, very entertaining episode that we loved recording. Karl is an absolutely brilliant fella to spend time some time with, so sit yourself down and strap yourself in. Really hope you enjoy. THIS IS EPISODE 55 OF THE TWO SHOT PODCAST WITH KARL PILKINGTON. S3 Ep 12S03E12 - Bill Ryder-Jones
EAlright. Hope you're well. Nice one for getting onto this episode of the podcast. It's episode 54 and it's a beautiful chat with Bill Ryder-Jones. Bill is a musician from down the East Lancs road and if you've not already listened to his stuff then you're missing out. We'd recommend starting with with 'if...' which is an absolute masterpiece of jaw-dropping scale. 'West Kirby County Primary' is absolute class too. And have a look at his new video Mither here - Basically, listen to it all. It's all boss. Bill is a true artist and a properly fascinating person. He talks with Craig about creativity, mental states, loss, friendship and loads more. It was an absolute privilege to listen in on it and we hope that you get as much from it as we have. If you do, it'll stay with you.We recorded this one in Manchester at the lovely Ziferblat on Edge Street in the Noirthern Quarter (Nice one to Ziferblat for being ace and finding us a room). S3 Ep 11S03E11 - Siân Gibson
EHOW THE DEVIL ARE YOU?... ahh, it feels good to be back and OFFICALLY start the new term doesnt it? This week we hopped in the car and went up the road to Manchester, sat down and set up in the lovely Ziferblat on Edge Street in the Northern Quarter and were joined by the infectiously lovely actor and comedian Siân Gibson! We spent a magical hour or so drinking brews and discussing uncomfortable auditions, castings, family life, fallow periods and Wales. You'll know Siân from loads of telly programs, most notably playing Kayleigh Kitson in the BBC sitcom Car Share which she co-wrote with Peter Kay. Siân's outlook on life is completely inspiring and she shares the ups and downs of her acting life with wonderful charm. We loved it and we hope you love listening too. We've got a bunch more excellent TSP eps in the can now and we can't wait to share them with you. TSP thursdays are back in effect!!! Get in touch... S3 Ep 10S03E10 - Andy Ellis
EYes, Yes, Yes! The Two Shot Pod is back and all up in your podcast feeds. Hope you've all had a lovely summer and are hungry for some more intensive TSP audio content. We're here to provide just that. This week is an episode we recorded in front of a live festival crowd in the magical Tim Peaks Diner at the fabulous Kendal Calling festival. We had the pleasure of spending an hour with Mr. Andrew Ellis. Andy is a Manchester lad through and through and his self-deprication, humour and humbleness are an absolute winning combination of traits. You'll recognise him as Gadget from Shane Meadows 'This is England' film and subsequent television series as well as loads of other televsion and film appearences. It's a great chat that turned a raucous festival crowd to rapt attentiveness and that's all down to Andy's great storytelling and sincerity. We're out recording around the UK again really soon and after another week's break (sorry) we'll be back to bringing you a fresh helping of TSP goodness every Thursday morning. Get in touch... It's almost like we planned it!We met with The Reverend Jon McClure (and a silent Ed!) at Jimmy's bar in Manchester just before they were off to house party -not one of those- it's one where Jon and Ed go to a fans house and play an acoustic gig. Nice eh? You'll know Jon as the lead singer in the band Reverend & The Makers along with Ed and also his wife Laura. We chatted with Jon just after the release of their new album, The death of a king. We talked all things Sheffield, growing up, the music industry, fans and doing things his way. Jon's got bags of energy and oozes charisma and if you've ever seen the band live then you'll know what we mean! S3 Ep 8S03E08 - Charlie Cooper
EHAPPY THURSDAY!!! IT'S OUR PODCAST BIRTHDAY!!!That's right. Can you believe it's a whole year that we've been bringing you episodes? What a year it's been! We've met some incredible people, heard amazing stories, we've laughed, we've cried and drank many cups of tea along the way. It's been a rollercoaster of a year and we're so grateful you've enjoyed and supported the podcast - THANK YOU! As it's our birthday, we thought we'd do something a bit spesh and bring you not 1 episodes but 2! Nice birthday treat, eh? We kick things off with the brilliant Charlie Cooper. If you've seen BBC's award winning THIS COUNTRY then you'll know Charlie as one of the writers and stars. Charlie writes with his sister Daisy May Cooper based on where they grew up in a small village in Gloucestershire. It's a brilliant, hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking series and if you haven't seen it then do yourself a favour and get involved. When, a few months back, we were invited to bring the podcast to the wonderful Bath Festival, we wanted to try and get a local guest on, so Charlie was the perfect fit and lucky for us, the stars aligned and dates worked out and this is the result. Craig and Charlie sat down with a sold-out crowd in the beautiful city of Bath on a rainy evening and the conversation began. Think you're gonna love this one. We certainly did. We chatted about all sorts and began with the subject of male models...THANKS SO MUCH FOR DOWNLOADING AND WE'LL SEE YOU IN A BIT FOR ANOTHER BIRTHDAY EPISODE!!! Get in touch... S3 Ep 3S03E03 - Dave Haslam
EHERE WE ARE! It's Thursday and it's EPISODE 45 of THE TWO SHOT PODCAST. This week travel north to sit down with legendary DJ & author DAVE HASLAM!!A few months ago we got a call telling us that THE CHARLATANS were doing something pretty unique. They were going to put on a takeover in NORTHWICH, which is where they have recorded many of their albums and consider it a second home. They were going to play 4 gigs over over 4 nights with a different set each night and then stream the gig all over the world. Pretty special right? They would also have other bands play and also a very special exhibition. They asked us if we'd like to be a part of it and host two LIVE episodes with an audience for each. We were lucky enough to bag our first guest in he shape of DAVE HASLAM and then our 2nd guest came on board and that was PADDY CONSIDINE. It was going to be a busy day. Thankfully we made it work and the audience came (if you were there, then thanks for coming!!) and it was a pretty special day. We'd been talking to Dave for just under a year about coming on so we were thrilled we could make it work for this and can't thank him enough for coming on. CHEERS DAVE !!We begin by chatting about where he started. Moseley, Birmingham. We also get treated to the man himself reading a piece from his memoirs, SONIC YOUTH SLEPT ON MY FLOOR (good title, eh?)You may have got down to Dave spinning tunes in the past but now here's a chance to get to know the man himself. ENJOY!! (Producer Griff says apologies for the sound this week. Whilst the venue was really cool, there are cosier aircraft hangars; which is why it sounds as if God himself is speaking. A few de-reverb modules were tried but it all sounded a bit digitally warpy so it was left as is. Sorry) Get in touch... S3 Ep 2S03E02 - Meera Syal
EGreetings Two Shot Podcast listener. Hope you're very well. This week we are joined by some real acting royalty in the form of Meera Syal. We sat down with Meera in the basement of Maison Bertaux (What! You've not been yet!? You definitely should very soon) and we talked about her childhood in Wolverhampton, sleeping in a draw, parental support, the dawn of proper British Asian comedy and loads and loads of other stuff. You'll know Meera from her pioneering work alongside former TSP guest Sanjeev Bhaskar in television institutions Goodness, Gracious Me, and The Kumars at Number 42 or more recently in her brilliant role in The Split. She has a myriad of writing, authorship and acting credits to her name and the story of how she came to be where she is today is as spectacular as her artistic achievements. She was an absolute pleasure to be with and her confidence and positivity are a complete inspiration. It's a wonderful listen and we really hope you enjoy. Dunno if you heard but we won a bloody prize. We are now the proud holders of a British Podcast Award in the 'Best Culture Podcast' category. Whilst the supportive messages we get on a daily basis from you, the dear listeners, are why we do what we do, it's always lovely to have your work recognised at a do where they give you champagne as you go in. You might know Dan from his appearances in Mount Pleasant, Homefires, or Black Sea. Or from one of many stage appearnaces in such productions as Glengarry Glen Ross. S2 Ep 19S02E19 - Matt Berry
EHere we are again. THIS IS EPISODE 41 OF THE TWO SHOT PODCAST and this week we're thrilled to welcome... the man, the voice... THE MATT BERRY! Craig & Producer Griff travelled into London's Soho to meet Matt on the hottest day of the year so far (remember that? Was that our summer?) and popped to our favourite tea shop, Maison Bertaux (Greek street - you should go, it's ace!) and sat down, and more importantly cooled down, and then got down to it. It's a cracker of an episode with Matt and we discuss all sorts; growing up, music, albums, comedy, creativity, insomnia, and the London dungeons. You're gonna love it. You'll know Matt from his extensive work on shows like Snuffbox, The I.T. Crowd, Darkplace, The Mighty Boosh and of course, the brilliant Toast of London. Sit back. relax. and let the smooth tones of this episode wash over you. YES!! P.S. Sorry about the background noise in this episode. EWhat's good TSP listeners. Hope you're all very well. This week sees another Two Shot Pod first. We travelled to Liverpool to have a sit down with the inimatable Ingrid Oliver... in front of other people!! That's right, this is a recording from our first live event. Ingrid is a wonderful actor and comedian and her chat with Craig had the audience captivated on the night. They talked girl's school, elections, house-moves and surnames. You might know Ingrid from her work as part of comedy duo Watson and Oliver, from her brilliant portrayal of Osgood in Doctor Who or from an unforgettable roll in Peep Show.It was a really special evening for us and we hope you have as much fun listening as we all did on the night. S2 Ep 9S02E09 - Tom Stocks
EHere we are. IT'S EPISODE 31! Thanks so much for downloading and subscribing. Means the world. This week we're joined by TOM STOCKS.It's actually quite rare that we chat to people who get in touch with us, we don't want people to feel that they have "sell" anything or have any sort of agenda, you know? We want people to come on and feel free to talk and also feel it's a safe place to do so. This episode is a little different as Tom did get in touch and we had a look at what he did and thought it would make a perfect platform for him to talk. These things could easily go wrong as it's one take. One chat. Luckily it all paid off.We went to meet to Tom in the lovely walls of MAISON BERTAUX on Greek Street in Soho, London (go check it out - the cakes! The cakes!) and we spent a great time nattering about his struggles and upbringing to where he's at now and well, why don't we just let him tell you? S2 Ep 8S02E08 - Steve Evets
EY'alright. It's Two Shot Pod episode 30 and this week's guest is Mancunian actor and total legend, Steve Evets. We met up with Steve in Ziferblat in Manchester's Northern Quarter on a proper minging Mancunian day, but Steve's stories and Northern authenticity soon warmed us up. You might've seen Steve in Ken Loach's brilliant film 'Looking For Eric' or on 'Rev' 'In The Flesh' or 'Girlfriends' on the telly. He's been in bloody loads. In this hour our or so, Steve talks in depth about his childhood, time in the merchant navy and his first forays into acting. It's literally a blood, guts and all story so get yourself a cuppa on and strap in. S2 Ep 7S02EO7 - Christine Bottomley / Remmie Milner
ENow then. This episode sees another first for us here at the Two Shot Podcast. We've got not one, but two chats with brilliant actors to share with you. The first part of episode 29 took us to Stockport to have a sit down and fruity tea with with none other than Chrissy Bottomley. Chrissy is an absolute pearler of a human being. She welcomed us in to her home, gave us nocellara olives and made us feel fully welcome before she sat down with Craig to have a great chat about her life and her views on all things thespian. It's a really great forty minutes or so which we're sure you'll thoroughly enjoy. We then made a trip down to Sheffield (Snakes Pass was closed - bleughh) to have sit down in a Crucible Theatre green room with the fantastic Remmie Milner. Remmie was rehearsing for the play Chicken Soup which sounds like it's going to be brilliant. She's an effervescent character, full of zest and positivity. She and Craig had good old chat about learning your trade and life at drama school. We hope you love it. You may have seen Poppy in The Second Best Marigold Hotel or the feature film Emma. More recently you may have gone to London's West-End to see her as Ginny Weasley in Harry Potter & the Cursed Child. We were lucky enough to get the kettle on with Poppy prior to her (and her family) packing the bags for a move across the pond when she reprises her role on Broadway. It's a really lovely, honest natter with Poppy. We're thrilled she found the time to come on and we're even more thrilled to share it with you, the two shot listener. You might know Greg from the BBC's Gary: Tank Commander or Channel 4's Fresh Meat but this being the Two Shot Podcast we don't discuss that (much). Craig and Greg sat down and chewed the fat over Edinburgh, sport, The Fringe, family, and the freedom of anonymity of London.Greg is an absolutely top human being and this is a great hour to kick off the new year.
