S9 Ep 7S09E07 - Iwan Rheon
Season's greetings TSP mates. We're back with our 165th episode. It's a bloody cracker with a top fella called Iwan Rheon. You'll know Iwan from the globe-conquering mega-smash Game Of Thrones, or maybe from a little longer ago in Misfits. If you're fan of Welsh-language soaps, you might have seen a much younger Iwan in Pobol y Cwm or, to bring it bang up to date, in a new RomCom called A Christmas Number One. Craig and Iwan discuss elves, the unnoticed beauty of a hometown, music and control, reviews and the romantic comedy genre. It's a lovely hour and an ace way to round off the year. Happy holidays to one and all. We'll be back with a quick Christmas message next week and some chef-based podcasts for you in the new year. Peace and goodwill. Get in touch... Hello TSP listeners. It's a new podcast day and this week we are joined by Liverpudlian Actor and Director Shaun Evans. You might know Shaun from his role as the young Morse in Endeavor on ITV or from films like, Being Julia and Cashback. Shaun's a fiercely artistic person with a really interesting outlook on creating work. He doesn't do too many interviews so it's lovely for us to have him on the podcast. He and Craig talk photography, periods of unemployment, drama school, moving away from Liverpool, creating for different mediums, the mental health conversation and tons more. It's dead good and you'll love it. Nice one for listening. We really appreciate it. If you've got a pal who'll love the podcast then send it to them on WhatsApp or whatever. Get in touch... OyOy. How are you lot? We're back with a new episode after a few weeks of accidental hiatus (Sorry about that, we're just mad busy). Anyway, this week, we're joined by a fabulous actor by the name of Mark Bonnar. You might know Mark from Line Of Duty. Or from Guilt, Shetland, Casualty, Psychoville and tons of other amazing stuff. And in this episode of the podcast we do actually discuss a lot of that, but as Craig mentions in the intro it's always from a human angle. It's a brilliant chat, and one we're proud to come back with. It's episode 162 of the Two Shot Podcast with the fantastic Mark Bonnar. Get in touch... S9 Ep 3S09E03 - Connor Swindells
EHappy Thursday gang. Hope you’re all doing well? It’s that time of the week to stop what you’re doing, pop your feet up & take some time to dive into someone else’s life for an hour or so. Every now and then we think it’s important to highlight past episodes that you may have missed that we feel are important listening. Even ir you’ve heard this before, it’s worth another listen. Now, no doubt, you’ve either binged through Sex Education season 3 on Netflix or you’re taking your time. We’re sure you’ll be knocked out by the performances and will have fallen all in love with the characters again. One stand out will be Adam Groff played by this week's reissue guest CONNOR SWINDELLS. Apart from Sex Ed, you’ll have seen Connor as part of the incredible ensemble cast of BBC’s VIGIL that has just completed its run. This was a fantastic episode and so great to meet Connor. It’s an episode that goes deep and you’ll get to know Connor after spending some time with him. You never know, you may relate to some of the topics that come up during the conversation. Enough now. Let’s get on with it shall we? This is The Two Shot Podcast, with the wonderfully open, Connor Swindells. Orig blurb - Hello. How are you? We do hope you're alright. We've got another episode of the Two Shot Podcast for you this week. It's our 83rd and it's a chat with an actor called Connor Swindells. Connor showed up to meet us in Soho looking unflappably cool and wearing one of the loveliest pairs of boats we've ever seen. He then proceeded to pour his heart out onto the table and share with us his incredible story of love, loss, passion and paranoia. You'll hear him talk about boxing, on-set breakdowns, not fitting in with your big brothers and being poor. He really doesn't hold too much back. You might know Connor from the hit Netflix show Sex Education where he plays the character Adam Groff. You might've seen him in the films VS. or The Vanishing. He's a great actor who really inhabits his work and the future looks so, so bright for him. Craig gives a little warning in the intro of this week's podcast as some of the subjects we touch on are pretty heavy. If you're feeling a bit fragile, it might be worth leaving listening until you feel a bit better. Or, conversely, it might be exactly what you need to hear. Either way, we can't thank Connor enough for sharing an hour with us and with you. A bit of bad news here about the live show at the BFI - We’re so sorry to say that due to a personal issue, we’ve had to pull out of the Radio Times festival on April 14th. We're so sorry to let you down but this is unavoidable. Many thanks to Radio Times, the BFI & Richard E. Grant for their warmth & support. BFI will be in touch about refunds. We’ll talk to Richard later in the year. Promise. Thanks a lot for listening. If you want a TSP badge then have a listen here and see how you can get one. EIt's Mental Health Awareness Week this week so we thought we'd re-run this incredibly powerful chat with Joe Tracini from a couple of years ago. Hope you're all good. xx Hiyer. How are ya? Well we hope. We've been on a sabbatical as Craig has been moving house and getting a load of other life stuff sorted, but we're back and bringing you a weekly dose of TSP conversational goodness. We kick off again with a chat with Joe Tracini. Joe is an actor, magician, presenter and activist who exudes energy and positivity but he's had it pretty tough. Joe talks us through his mental illness, his compulsions, his addiction, his closeness to suicide and the incredible hardships he has come through to be where he is today. We met Joe on a chilly winter's day in Soho. We got a couple of coffee's and got down to it. We'd like to thank Joe for his extraordinary candidness and honesty. It's so brave to talk about what is still so stigmatised with such self-reflection and lack of self-pity. If anyone is affected by the issues raised in this episode there are plenty of people to talk to. S7 Ep 19S07E19 - Roy
Happy Thursday to you. Well, c'mon, we have to try and be a little bit positive don’t we? If you’re in the UK, we hope you’re enjoying the crisper, sunnier days. It’s really helping with everything isn’t it? This week we head over to Liverpool (albeit remotely) to have a sit down with storyteller ‘Roy’. To give you some context to our conversation, ‘Roy’ very kindly reads an excerpt from his recently published book of short stories, ‘Algorithm Party’ ( available to buy on Rough Trade) It’s a fascinating discussion where Craig and ‘Roy’ discuss growing up on the same street for years, acceptance, grief, addiction, recovery, creativity and so much more. Just to warn you, this episode touches on certain sensitive subjects such as suicide, addiction and contains very strong language. It is however, a discussion full of hope and ultimately, positivity and we think you’re going to be gripped. Also, on a side note, you may have heard but from 21st March Craig will be hosting the official Line Of Duty podcast over on BBC SOUNDS so go get subscribed if that’s your thing. Get in touch... S7 Ep 11S07E11 - Nicole Kidman
EHiyer Two Shot Pod pals. Hope you're all keeping well. We're back with another episode and this week we're talking to none other than the completely legendary Nicole Kidman! Craig dialled in to New South Wales to have a TSP chin wag with Nicole and they really got into it. They talk about her first forays into the acting world at the tender age of 14, her love of theatre and the trepidation she felt before treading the boards in the West End, traveling for work with her kids and close ones, the importance of drama school knowledge you were convinced you'd never need and loads, loads more. Nicole has done it all. From BMX Bandits (which Craig does bring up) to Batman, from To Die For to Moulin Rouge, she's one the greats of our time. The conversation starts with a bit of discussion about Nicole's most recent HBO project The Undoing which will be available on Sky Atlantic & NOW TV from 26 October. Craig is certainly on the edge of his seat to see the final episode. Nicole is a fabulous guest and we're sure you'll enjoy listening this, episode 136 of the Two Shot Podcast. Get in touch... S7 Ep 10S07E10 - Matt Forde (Part 2)
EHappy Thursday everyone (delete) *clears throat Happy FRIDAY everyone! Hope you’re all doing ok? Do you know what I can’t wait for? Is to not say things like ‘ strange times, eh’ or ‘hope you’re all coping and getting through this the best you can’. Yeah, sick of that. When I’m actually just asking how your week was will be a joyous moment. Trust me, it’ll happen. Keep the faith you beautiful mob. For now, though, let’s keep the conversation going as it seems to be a comfort for us all doesn’t it? We have another revisit this week in the shape of comedian & now fully legit author of an actual proper book, it’s the brilliant MATT FORDE... We sit down and discuss the pitfalls and parallels between writing stand up and the discipline needed to fit Matt to write his first book during such an unstable and unpleasant time. His book, ‘Politically Homeless’ is available right now and it’s a beaut. Go support Matt and also your independent bookshop. Keep safe. Keep well. Keep wearing that mask. All the love. S7 Ep 9S07E09 - Jimmy Akingbola and Fraser Ayres
EHow the devil you? Good? Not great? In a slight fug? Well, let’s just hit the pause button on that right now, just for an hour or so and let’s focus on someone else shall we? Let’s do that. It’s Thursday so that means a new episode. Saying that, yes, I know we had a new episode this Tuesday but that was originally last Thursday’s episode but we couldn’t put it out due to an embargo so ....sorry, even we’re confused right now. Enough of that. We’re back on track and this week it’s a welcome return to past guest JIMMY AKINGBOLA & a very warm welcome to FRASER AYERS as they come to chat about making some TV history with the panel show ‘Sorry, I didn’t know’. It’s a focus on inclusion and diversity and failing and ultimately succeeding and why they just won’t stop trying to break down doors. Enjoy. Get in touch... S7 Ep 8S07E08 - Hayley Squires
EHappy Thursday one and all. Hope you’re all doing well and* if you’re in the UK keeping to your groups of 6 and not giving any weight to what certain Britpop stars are wanging on about. But enough of *that*. Let’s not discuss it. It’s certainly something we don’t even touch on in this weeks episode because we're far too busy discussing creativity, growing up, moving around, writing and close knit families. There's a small natter about Hayley's new C4 series ADULT MATERIAL* which is discomforting, groundbreaking, shocking and funny show that, on the surface, is a delve into the world of the adult entertainment business but as the story storms on raises questions about motherhood and injustice and power. It’s an incredible watch with Hayley ( once again) showing incredible skills as the lead character and Lucy Kirkwood’s incredible script keeps us asking questions as an audience right till the end....and long after. Of course, you’ll have seen Hayley burst into the screen in her award winning breakthrough performance in Ken Loach’s ‘ I, Daniel Blake’ but here on TSP we get to discuss all the important things with Hayley. You know the drill. We really hope you enjoy this incredible episode. Thrilled that Hayley made time for us. You will not be disappointed. Get in touch... She's a proud Bristolian, who's hilarious, circumspect, grounded and fiercely intelligent. S7 Ep 6S07E06 - I made this for you w/ Cristian Solimeno and Tania Bruce
EHi there TSP listening people. Bit of a different one this week. To mark World Suicide Prevention day, we've taken a slight detour from the norm to talk to two people about a pretty weighty film and some pretty weighty subjects. We shouldn't really go too much further without mentioning that this episode comes with some trigger warnings. There's a lot of discussion about, and descriptions of, suicide. If you're not feeling like you're in a headspace where you can deal with that then it might be wise to give this one a miss. Anyway, this week, Craig is talking to Cristian Solimeno and Tania Bruce, both of whom are heavily involved with fantastic film 'I Made This For You'. You can watch it for free here on YouTube - https://youtu.be/SWLhoUr2vCM We won't say too much more about this ep, but if you are affected by the subjects mentioned please seek help through the following resources - https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/suicide/ Let's keep talking - TSP X Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/twoshotpod. EHappy Thursday listeners. We’ve back with another banger of an episode, and this week our guest is Samantha Morton. Craig and Sam had been trying to to make this recording work for an absolute age and whilst the current lockdown is in many ways shit, it does afford some people a bit of extra free time to get together for a TSP chinwag. Craig dialled in via the inter web earlier this week and got into it. Samantha is one of the finest actors of a generation with a load of amazing directorial credits to her name too. You might know her from Synechdoche, New York, Minority Report, Emma, Jane Eyre or more recently Harlots and The Walking Dead. She and Craig discuss her time in foster care, raves at the Marcus Garvey centre in Lenton, moving house, having a stroke, schoolyard violence, family life and loads, loads more.
