Most people don’t read at all, but if they do read, it’s probably either light, fluffy novels or maybe a self-help book here and there. But what about history? What can a deeper understanding of history do for your life, in helping you achieve the best life possible? Today, I’m going through some moments in history, and what can be learned from them. Because without and understanding of history, there really is no way that we can predict the future. But because history tends to repeat itself, if we develop an understanding and knowledge of history and the trends that come back time and time again, we can better understand the world around us, and make more sense of where it’s headed, as well as if current political decisions are likely to be a good idea. “Be careful about business models where your costs grow with your revenue” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Everyone is looking for the ideal business model. They’re looking to discover the perfect model to bring ever increasing revenue. Today, I’m talking about two common business models, and which I prefer. The two models: Netflix and Spotify. Netflix buys out agreements with content creators, whereas Spotify pays royalties dependent on number listens. Therefore, as Spotify’s income increases, so too does their cost. But as Netflix’s income increases, their costs stay the same, or even decrease. This is one of the most important factors to look at when analyzing a potential business. Will cost increase as revenue increases, or will cost stay the same or even decrease? On today’s episode, I’m going through some of the things that they should have taught us in school. Whether the thing has anything to do with them or not, they’re on the search for something that they can be offended by. If you really need to be offended, though, be offended by the big problems in the world! Or, better yet, choose to learn from the process of being offended, and improve yourself through it. “Never be the person signing a contract that you don’t fully understand” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) How careful are you about the contracts that you sign? Do you read them and fully understand them, in all of their details, before attaching your signature? Or do you think it will all just magically “work out” somehow for you? Too many people do the later. They don’t pay enough attention. This is such a common thread you see in the world: Plain ignorance. As I say on this episode, the root of all the problems in the world is not the rich getting richer. The root of all problems is ignorance, plain and simple. But, in a lot of ways, it’s not everyone’s fault: The schooling system has set them up for failure. It’s set them up to go through the most formative years of life without learning the most practical skills. Things like money management, entrepreneurship, just pure logical thinking, all get passed over, and, to make matters worse, children are given tons of sugar through the sodas they drink, and then forced to sit through a standardized test. It’s no wonder people don’t come out with good critical thinking skills. Don’t be someone who contributes to the main problem in the world of ignorance. But it’s important to understand that a combination of many different factors are going to lead to your ultimate ability to succeed in this life. These are the broad ideas that are going to make a big difference in your life, no matter what your specific goals are. First of all, the quickest path between two points is always a straight line. This means that you must bring determined and unrelenting focus to your goals. Whatever you see as your aim, you need to focus very strongly on that one thing, even though it can alter and change somewhat over time. Whatever it is right now, you need to be able to bring determined and long-term focus towards its accomplishment. This is what is going to separate you from the rest of the people in the world who are also trying to accomplish things. Most of the world is distracted, and that is what is holding them back. But in a world full of distractions and distracted people, you need to bring intense focus to your goals, and you will see them accomplished. Because without them, when you simply focus on the peripheral information and education, it’s easy to be led astray by things that are not true. Because most people think about themselves almost all of the time, are obsessed with themselves, their feelings, emotions and desires, these are the things that you need to appeal to if you want to be persuasive. This might seem obvious, but very, very few people are really good at putting themselves in someone else’s shoes and really approaching a conversation, whether sales or other, from that viewpoint.
