How to Learn from the Great Successes and Failures of History
E“Study history so that you don’t make stupid decisions” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Do you read history? Today, most people don’t. Most people don’t read at all, but if they do read, it’s probably either light, fluffy novels or maybe a self-help book here and there. But what about history? What can a deeper understanding of history do for your life, in helping you achieve the best life possible? Today, I’m going through some moments in history, and what can be learned from them. Because without and understanding of history, there really is no way that we can predict the future. But because history tends to repeat itself, if we develop an understanding and knowledge of history and the trends that come back time and time again, we can better understand the world around us, and make more sense of where it’s headed, as well as if current political decisions are likely to be a good idea. "The reward should be emphasized in education to motivate students to learn" - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind To start learning history, focus first on what you enjoy History should be more about stories than dates and numbers to be interesting Show the reward before you teach in order to effectively learn, and want to learn! First you get the mindset, then you launch the business, then you get the money. The progression is important Use the HEXACO personality test to more fully understand personalities The C, which stands for Conscientiousness, is probably the most important attribute when it comes to making money Conscientiousness: Perfectionism Organization Prudence (the ability to make good decisions) Parents are usually the worst thing for their kids Politics and Republican vs Democrat tends to have more to do with personality types Knowing history, and how it repeats itself, will help you earn more money and be more successful The mark of an intelligent person is to see both sides of a story Study history so that you don’t make stupid decisions Learn more about your ad choices. The Ideal Business Model You Should Look For
E“Be careful about business models where your costs grow with your revenue” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Everyone is looking for the ideal business model. They’re looking to discover the perfect model to bring ever increasing revenue. Today, I’m talking about two common business models, and which I prefer. The two models: Netflix and Spotify. Netflix buys out agreements with content creators, whereas Spotify pays royalties dependent on number listens. Therefore, as Spotify’s income increases, so too does their cost. But as Netflix’s income increases, their costs stay the same, or even decrease. This is one of the most important factors to look at when analyzing a potential business. Will cost increase as revenue increases, or will cost stay the same or even decrease? Look for business models where cost decreases as revenue increases. “The ideal business is one where you sell ever increasing units at an ever decreasing cost” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Be careful about business models where your costs grow with your revenue Look for a way for cost to decrease as income increases The ideal business is one where you sell ever increasing units at an ever decreasing cost When you start a business, be careful about signing licensing and royalty agreements where your cost will increase with increased revenue Learn more about your ad choices. What They Should have Taught You in School
E“The world needs people who are willing to say it like it is, and not gloss over it” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) We learn a lot of things in school, but the emphasis is often put on the less practical pieces of information, rather than the knowledge that will really help you get ahead and live a good life. On today’s episode, I’m going through some of the things that they should have taught us in school. I’m taking questions from the audience, to give you the information that is going to truly help you live the kind of life you want to. We go through how to get investments, how to pitch, why you should hire an accountant, how to save money on taxes, and why education will be the ultimate way we can lessen poverty in the world. “There are no solutions, only trade offs. So pick your poison” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind The world needs people who are willing to say it like it is, and not to gloss over it On the flip side, if someone tells it to you like it is, you need to not get offended by it, but take the truth from it and use it to motivate you Good investors know that they should invest in the human above the business If you’re pitching a business, you need to tell a story. A story will make something relatable and make it stand out to the people you’re pitching to If you’re looking for investments, start with people you know. It will be a lot easier to get the first money from them Unless you have a background as an accountant, you should probably hire an accountant, even before you’re making a lot of money The best way to save on taxes is to own a business and write off expenses Never mess with the IRS. Don’t try to be tricky with taxes If you want to make a lot of money, you will pay a lot of taxes You can’t tax people enough to end poverty. Instead, you must increase productivity if you want to combat poverty, and the best way to increase productivity is to educate people The way you fix the most problems in the world is through education There are no solutions, only trade offs. So pick your poison Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoicesSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Don’t Be Offended!
E“You have to train yourself to laugh at adversity” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Today, it feels like everyone is looking for something to be offended by. Whether the thing has anything to do with them or not, they’re on the search for something that they can be offended by. If you really need to be offended, though, be offended by the big problems in the world! Or, better yet, choose to learn from the process of being offended, and improve yourself through it. Take the things that people say to you, that would offend weaker people, and use them as motivation to work on improving yourself everyday. “Use pain and feeling offended to motivate yourself to improve” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Today it seems like people are looking for ways to be offended Sometimes, you need to be a little hurt by the truth, to help you change something about yourself The sooner that you learn that people won’t like you and you will be offended, the sooner you can get used to it If all you do is get offended, you don’t hurt the person who offended you, you only hurt yourself Don’t take things personally, because 99% of the time it’s not even about you anyways You have to train yourself to laugh at adversity You’re only free when you’re the master of your thoughts Use pain and feeling offended to motivate yourself to improve Your brain gravitates toward negativity, so negative comments will really affect you if you let them The emotional motivation of pain can bring you to success Harness what offends weaker people, and turn it into your motivation Learn more about your ad choices. The Real Reason Most People Fail, and How You Can Avoid It
E“Never be the person signing a contract that you don’t fully understand” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) How careful are you about the contracts that you sign? Do you read them and fully understand them, in all of their details, before attaching your signature? Or do you think it will all just magically “work out” somehow for you? Too many people do the later. They don’t pay enough attention. This is such a common thread you see in the world: Plain ignorance. As I say on this episode, the root of all the problems in the world is not the rich getting richer. The root of all problems is ignorance, plain and simple. But, in a lot of ways, it’s not everyone’s fault: The schooling system has set them up for failure. It’s set them up to go through the most formative years of life without learning the most practical skills. Things like money management, entrepreneurship, just pure logical thinking, all get passed over, and, to make matters worse, children are given tons of sugar through the sodas they drink, and then forced to sit through a standardized test. It’s no wonder people don’t come out with good critical thinking skills. Don’t be someone who contributes to the main problem in the world of ignorance. Educate yourself, and learn to be smarter and more practical. “The root of the problems in the world is not the rich getting richer. It’s ignorance” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Be very careful with money. Always underestimate your claims to insure you are safe with your estimates Manage people’s expectations by underestimating Videotape something if you could potentially need more proof in the future If you ever invest money in something, don’t expect it to come back. Only give money you can survive without ever seeing back Don’t personally guarantee anything unless you are ready to pay the full thing, because you may have to Never be the person signing a contract that you don’t fully understand Children should start learning practical money management techniques young School should focus more on skills Incentive people with what works to incentivize them! Whether that’s cars, girls, mansions, do what actually works! People at the top should raise up everyone else, not keep them down The root of the problems in the world is not the rich getting richer. It’s ignorance Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoicesSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What Does it Take For You to Become Successful? The #1 Thing.
E“Perfectionism is often considered a negative thing, when it is really a positive” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) When it comes to success, only a multifaceted approach works. The University of Pennsylvania found that the number one trait that contributes to success is conscientiousness. There are 5 facets of conscientiousness: Industriousness, perfectionism, organization, diligence, and prudence. Each of these facets plays a role, and today’s episode is about how each contributes, and how you can build your strength in each area. But it’s important to understand that a combination of many different factors are going to lead to your ultimate ability to succeed in this life. Don’t get too fixated on any one, but take a careful and holistic approach to learning and improving yourself. Focus on the 5 aspects of conscientiousness to improve your ability to succeed in life. “Organization is essential to productivity and progress in your life” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind The #1 trait associated with success is conscientiousness If you don’t have attention to detail, you will have a hard time being successful The 5 facets of conscientiousness: Industriousness, perfectionism, organizations, diligence, and prudence Perfectionism is often considered a negative thing, when it is really a positive If you can’t pay attention to detail, you’ll probably be broke Organization is essential to productivity and progress in your life Diligence is the ability to stick something out when it’s not fun or exciting anymore Prudence is the ability to make good decisions in life. You have to think through decisions very carefully Ask yourself: What would a very smart person do in this situation? The One Skill That Can Define Your Ability to Succeed
E“There are three types of people: People making things happen, people watching things happen, and people wondering what happened” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) People tend to underestimate what they can do, and what is possible, because they don’t have the ability to focus. If you can’t really concentrate your efforts on one task for an extended period of time, you’re going to find it a lot more difficult to actually get things done. That is why the ability to turn on intense focus for as much time as is needed is absolutely essential to your success. Without it, you will jump aimlessly from task to task, not finishing anything, and not getting anywhere closer to your goals. Learn to skill of focus, because it will help with every other area of your life. “You can do a lot more than you think you can do if you can just learn how to really focus” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind There are three types of people: People making things happen, people watching things happen, and people wondering what happened Be focused and practical You can do a lot more than you think you can do if you can just learn how to really focus There is a time to stop and smell the roses, but if you’re not where you want to be, then now is not that time Anyone who thinks a president or political party will fix your problem is wrong In many ways, success of a lot more simple than people think Awareness of where you are and where you want to go is the first step to getting there If you have a problem, admit it. If you’re broke, admit it, and move on to the next phase The problem with people blaming other people for their financial problems is that they will never get out of the situation they find themselves in There’s no long-term fix for making more than you make, you have to recognize it and change it At the end of the day, nobody really cares about you but you If people took have the time that they spent complaining about things and put it into fixing their situation, they might not have anything to complain about anymore Learn more about your ad choices. The Science Behind How You Can Go Through Life with Purpose
E“There is a science behind habits, and it’s important to learn it” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Too many people go through life haphazardly, without purpose and forethought, stumbling from thing to thing, and from idea to idea. This lack of focus will keep you from truly achieving great things in your life. But if you learn how to create the right habits and neuro pathways in your brain to help you do small amounts of a task, regularly every day for a long time, you’re ability to succeed in life will skyrocket, and you’ll achieve what you thought you couldn’t. Learn how to create those neuro pathways and create habits on today’s episode of the Tai Lopez Show. “Habits keep you from going through life haphazardly” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Fitness, money-making, public speaking, ability to read people, the ability to influence people, are all habits that people create At the age of 25, your neural pathways are pretty set as far as habits. You can still change and create habits, but it’s more difficult There is a science behind habits, and it’s important to learn it Habits keep you from going through life haphazardly People think they have time when they’re young, but in reality you should be in a hurry to create the right habits because it will only get more difficult as you get older It’s better to do small chunks of a task regularly, to create the pathway in your brain to make it easier each time you go to do that task, and work harder at it Move from one thing to the other logically and thoughtfully, with a single end in mind Learn more about your ad choices. How Habits Bring You Success
E“The school system should be less about memorizing information and more about forming good habits” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) The school system focuses far too much on memorizing data. In today’s age, data is not nearly as important as good habits. You can find any information you really need at a moment’s notice on your phone. But habits, which define how you spend your time day in and day out, are going to make the difference in how successful you are able to be. Listen to today’s podcast to find out the importance of habits in your life and how to build better ones. “The things you both love and hate in life will come down to the habits you form” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind The school system should be less about memorizing information and more about forming good habits The chains of habits are too weak to be felt until they’re too strong to be broken Get in new habit learning as early as possible, because the younger you are, the easier it is The things you both love and hate in life will come down to the habits you form When practicing something, get in it for the long haul. The Secret to Everything You Hate and Love About Your Life
E“Almost everything you hate or love about life stems from a habit” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Almost everything in your life, whether you love it or hate it, can be traced back to some habit you formed. Whether it’s procrastinating when you know you should be working on something, watching hours of TV everyday, or good things like constantly looking for solutions, eating healthy, getting good amounts of sleep. In a large part, your life is simply made up of a bunch of habits you’ve created over time. This is why the school system should focus much more on forming the right habits, rather than memorizing things. Habits and having the right habits define how happy and successful you will be in life, but they’re not created instantly. They have to be refined and worked on continually, over a long amount of time. But keep at them, and they will turn into powerful pillars for your good life. “The school system should be far more geared toward creating the right habits, instead of memorization” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind The chains of habit are too weak to be felt until they’re too strong to be broken Almost everything you hate or love about life stems from a habit The school system should be far more geared toward creating the right habits, instead of memorization It’s much easier to form habits when you’re younger, so start now and work hard on creating the right habits It’s better to do 15 minutes a day for a long time then to keep going all in, and giving up Learn more about your ad choices. E“Life is against your happiness, so it’s a fight to find true happiness” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Today is another short reminder-episode about happiness. Most of the ways life works is against your happiness, whether it’s the unfairness of life, other people trying to take advantage of you, your body’s natural decay over time, natural disasters, or other things. It’s important to be realistic about life, know that these are the facts, so that, armed with that knowledge, you can fight back, and fight for your happiness. “The struggle to survive is the struggle to fight back against the forces that work against your happiness” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Other people will try to take advantage of you Your body will naturally decay over time Natural disasters are everywhere Life is against your happiness, so it’s a fight to find true happiness Be a realist about life, so that you have the tools to fight back and fight for your happiness The struggle to survive is the struggle to fight back against the forces that work against your happiness Learn more about your ad choices. Because that is what is really important for a career: Find out what you can enjoy day in and day out for years. You will find certain topics and issues that fascinate you for a moment in time, but that will turn into feeling like just a lot of work if you have to do them day after day for years. 3 Millionaire Mentor Tips to Make More Money
E“Reinvest in the people around you” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Today I’m talking about 3 millionaire mentor tips that will help you find more success in your life financially. But if you have good credit, you are able to use other people’s money to make more money, and that is when it all becomes very scaleable. There are some very specific tricks to make sure that your credit score is high, and I am going through some of those in this episode. In addition, I talk about when it’s a good idea to go into debt and when it is not, why you should ALWAYS go to events if you can, but not necessarily stay for long, how to act around people that you would like to network with for business, and why reinvesting in those around you is one of the smartest things you can do. “Don’t go deep into debt for anything that will not generate any income” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Learn the game of getting and keeping good credit Keep 8-10% balance on your card If you can get the game of good credit under control, you can use other people’s money to make more money Don’t go deep into debt for anything that will not generate any income Put your cards on autopay Don’t go above about 50% Go to events that you don’t like, but don’t feel like you need to stay too long. Top 3 Dating Tips
E“If you have to be on your best behavior on the first date, you’re probably not a good fit” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) What are my top 3 pieces of advice for people who want a better dating life? The first is to never date someone who is not attracted to you. If they are with you for other reasons, you will have big problems down the road. That might seem obvious, but a lot of people are caught in the trap of dating the people that they want to, without regard for this fundamental, foundational aspect in place. Be careful. Listen to this episode for the rest of my advice on how to have a better dating life! “Only date people you naturally vibe with” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Do not date people who are not attracted to you Use the dark triad test to weed out the crazy people Go with people you naturally feel like you vibe with If you have to be on your best behavior on the very first date, you might not actually have a good fit with the person Learn more about your ad choices. How To Find Your Life’s Purpose and Achieve Your Goals
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “The quickest path between two points is a straight line. FOCUS” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Today I’m talking about the three main pieces of advice that I would give my younger self if I could go back in time. These are the broad ideas that are going to make a big difference in your life, no matter what your specific goals are. First of all, the quickest path between two points is always a straight line. This means that you must bring determined and unrelenting focus to your goals. Whatever you see as your aim, you need to focus very strongly on that one thing, even though it can alter and change somewhat over time. Whatever it is right now, you need to be able to bring determined and long-term focus towards its accomplishment. This is what is going to separate you from the rest of the people in the world who are also trying to accomplish things. Most of the world is distracted, and that is what is holding them back. But in a world full of distractions and distracted people, you need to bring intense focus to your goals, and you will see them accomplished. For the other two things I would tell my younger self, as well as more advice on how to live the best life possible, listen to this episode of The Tai Lopez Show! “You can get almost anything you want in life, but it will always take you a bit longer than you think” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind The quickest path between two points is a straight line. FOCUS Build on your strengths, not on your weaknesses Do wish for other people’s strengths, and try to build on those You can improve weaknesses, but you can’t primarily build on them You can get almost anything you want in life, but it will always take you a bit longer than you think The temptation to give up is right before you succeed Life is a like a ladder, you start at the bottom, and if you try to jump up to the top too fast, you’ll fall on your face Go on step, one rung of the ladder at a time Go directly toward what you want, with focus, in everything in your life, whether personal or professional Build the mental skills to be able to bring singular focus to whatever you need to To get what you want, you need to deserve what you want Pray for what you want Everybody’s specific desire is different, but YOU know what you want, so FOCUS on it Even if you’re young, don’t assume that you have a lot of time. Bring this kind of focus to your goals, so you aren’t left with regret When the whole world is distracted, YOU be FOCUSED Learn more about your ad choices. How You Can Gain Wisdom, Not Just Information, To Be Truly Successful
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “Try to attain wisdom rather than just information” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Information is important, but facts can distract from the foundational principles of the world. A lot of people get far too caught up in the process of attaining peripheral information, rather than exploring and seeking to deeply understand the principles and foundations of life. Things like general economics, social skills, the ability to read people, and financial principles, are the kind of foundational knowledge that you should be seeking to acquire. Because without them, when you simply focus on the peripheral information and education, it’s easy to be led astray by things that are not true. But knowledge and wisdom of foundational principles will allow you to see through the lies, identify them, and allow you to build on that foundation in a strong way so that you can be more successful in life and your pursuit of health, wealth, love and happiness. “Wisdom is the common sense you get from being curious and observant” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Everyone has a different opinion on how to lead the best life. But you need focus in your life if you want to see success If you aren’t careful in life, you just won’t get anything done Try to attain wisdom rather than just information Understand the foundational principles, so that you don’t get distracted by all of the extra information available. Without the foundation, you won’t be able to tell the truth from the lies If you don’t have common sense and wisdom, you can make a lot of money, but will probably lose it Sometimes you must be cynical, and sometimes cynicism closes the door on opportunity Most problems come from problems of how to interact with people Wisdom is the common sense you get from being curious and observant Learn more about your ad choices. 7 Lessons From Shareholder Meeting with Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and Charlie Munger
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “Most people only make money with time, but making it with money is infinitely scaleable” - Warren Buffett (click to tweet) This episode is a recounting of the notes I took at a recent Berkshire Hathaway shareholder’s meeting. Speaking and in attendance were Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Charlie Munger and many more, so on this episode I am going back through my notes to deliver the takeaways and key points to you. Throughout the meeting, they got into issues like the concept of making money with money instead of time, why you should specialize, why you must be a constant, life-long learner, why good health is essential and should be a priority, as it will affect everything else that you try to do, and why you should do what you want to do NOW instead of waiting for the perfect time. “College degrees are fine, but what are you learning RIGHT NOW?” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind One of the definitions of investing is the ability to make money with money Most people only make money with time, but making it with money is infinitely scaleable You have to understand the basic fundamentals before getting into advanced topics You can’t be good at everything, you MUST specialize Experiment, find what you’re good at, and then double down on that Problems will not go away if left alone, they will only get worse College degrees are fine, but what are you learning right now? You don’t need a lot of wins to make a lot of money, you just need a few good ones If you let your health go down, it will negatively affect the rest of what you’re trying to do When you pick your career, don’t pick entirely based on money, pick based on your interest Be cautious when making investments based on EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization) Capitalism will always hurt a few while benefitting society as a whole Every type of society has pros and cons Never tell anyone about your problems. 90% of people don’t care, and the other 10% that do care are glad you have them The 7-Takeaways Focus on your circle of competence- what you KNOW you’re good at When a problem arises, in any situation, deal with it quickly A life of continuous learning is a life that’s well-lived. The more you learn the more you earn You can’t catch all the investments. Know that you will miss some, and be ok with that While you do learn new things, be sure not to unlearn the old principles Keep your physical body in good shape, otherwise it will negatively affect the rest of what you do If you have something to do, don’t wait! The #1 Trick to Persuade Anyone
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “If you want to convince and persuade someone, appeal to their desires” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Everyone needs to learn how to persuade other people if they want to be successful with anything in their life, but most people are going about it all the wrong way. Because most people think about themselves almost all of the time, are obsessed with themselves, their feelings, emotions and desires, these are the things that you need to appeal to if you want to be persuasive. This might seem obvious, but very, very few people are really good at putting themselves in someone else’s shoes and really approaching a conversation, whether sales or other, from that viewpoint. Today, we’re talking about how to effectively persuade someone through the skill of looking at life through the lens of their desires and emotions, not your own. “People are in love with themselves, not with you, and good marketers understand that” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind If you want to convince and persuade someone, appeal to their desires Nobody is ever convinced by logic. Appeal to desires, self interest, and emotions instead Emotion is still the most powerful thing in almost anyone’s life Start with other people’s interest, instead of your own, when you’re asking for anything People are in love with themselves, not with you, and good marketers understand that Focus on other people, and bring up your own needs last Learn more about your ad choices. The single test that will determine whether someone will be a benefit to your life, and lift it up, or whether they will be a drag on it, and pull you down? Ask them to do something simple for you. Build on Your Strengths, NOT Your Weaknesses, to Go Faster
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “You are what you are, and you have to build on your strengths” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Have you heard the saying “jack of all trades, master of none?” It comes from the idea that someone who tries to do EVERYTHING might end up not being really good at anything. It’s the idea behind specialization. Too many people are trying to be too broad, or are trying to build on their weaknesses, instead of recognizing their strengths and working on those, to optimize their results. Then, work to surround yourself with people who have strengths in areas that you have weaknesses in, so that every area is covered. To spend too much time, energy, and effort working on your weaknesses will only be a waste of time. Therefore, the key is to be able to accurately identify your real strengths, and this is something that most people have a very hard time doing. Listen to this episode to learn how to find your real strengths, and build on them, to live the best life possible! “Awareness about yourself and who you are is the most important, first step” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind The idea of authenticity is tricky, because it tends to mean different things to different people You can change part of you, but part of you will always remain the same You are what you are, and you have to build on your strengths You’re wasting your effort and energy if you’re building on your weaknesses instead of your strengths You can be very successful without trying to become someone other than who you are Very few people actually have a good understanding of their strengths A lot of people project what they wish was their strength, when it is not Society will tell you that you need to be one way, but society speaks in generalizations which are often not completely correct To find your strengths, go back to what people said about you when you were very young Make a list of all your goals over the last 18 months, and then be very honest about which things were actually accomplished, and which you didn’t really do Don’t beat yourself up over your weaknesses, focus on improving your strengths Surround yourself with people who complement your weaknesses No matter what your personality is, there’s somebody who is the exact opposite, and you should get around people like that Awareness about yourself and who you are is the most important, first step Find a balance in your life between all the things that you want, and allocate time Learn more about your ad choices. The Tool to Always Make the Right Decision in Your Life
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “Create micro-goals, that each get you slightly closer to your goal” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Do you know how to effectively make decisions? A lot of people find themselves paralyzed by the decision making process, when in reality there is a simple tool to help you always make the right decision: Consider the downside. In every decision you make, look at what the downside of both options is. After looking at both, you usually will realize that one is far worse than the other, and your decision is instantly made. In addition, the ability to focus is as valuable as ever, but in far less supply than ever. Being able to focus, to keep away from you phone for chunks at a time, and to focus like a laser on a problem will separate you from the crowd and bring success. “Focus can solve a lot of your problems. You can solve almost anything if you focus” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Most people know what they should do. The difficult thing is simply doing it People struggle with procrastination because they do not have the force of will to do what they need to do In the “soft” life we live in the modern age, most people don’t experience very many life/death moments. Why Haters Are Actually Helping You: The 4 Hater Stages
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “Don’t waste your time not believing in yourself and your abilities” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Most people don’t realize how valuable their haters are to them. There is a progression that is very common among the successful. Initially, haters don’t even know who you are. They ignore you. Then, they laugh at and ridicule you. After that, as you become more and more successful, they hate you because it reflects poorly on their own life. And then, gradually and over time, they come to love you. So understand that you could be in any one of those stages. But it is a process that you are working through. Each stage leads naturally to the next, and the process has been proven over and over again with almost all success stories. So don’t hate your haters. Love them, appreciate their free PR, and understand which stage you are in. “First they ignore you, then they laugh, then they hate you, then they love you” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Don’t waste your time not believing in yourself and your abilities Being a hater is such a waste of time, energy, and life Haters are free PR for you First they ignore you, then they laugh, then they hate you, then they love you You must look out for yourself, because no one else will People look out for others according to how much DNA they share Always blame yourself if something goes wrong Learn more about your ad choices. The Best Business Model Today: Q&A on Entrepreneurship
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “Everyone progresses at their own speed. Don’t be in too much of a hurry” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Today’s episode is a small Q&A I did recently in Norway, while shooting hoops. I’m talking about how to very quickly judge whether or not a business is a good idea, why freemium is one of the best business models available today, and how to find the right category for you to thrive in. If you’ve ever wondered how you can know what your focus should be, what your business, or passion, or goal should be, this episode deals with how to define that quickly, and it’s through a process I’ve been talking a lot about lately: Experimentation. But it is a two-step approach to experimentation: Experiment initially to try to find your niche, the thing that you enjoy and are good at, and then experiment constantly once you have defined that, within that space, to optimize your results. “Freemium is one of the best business models: give things away for free, and then charge for just a few things” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Judge business ideas by whether they can make a small amount of progress, and money, very quickly Businesses should win and be a good experiment very quickly early on, and then it might take years to build Experiment constantly to find the initial thing you want to work in, and then experiment within that category Freemium is one of the best business models: give things away for free, and then charge for just a few things Everyone progresses at their own speed. The Formula for Your Marketing Success: Experiments and How I Run Them
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “Take care of your family, love the people who love you, and destroy your enemies” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Running experiments separates the pros from the amateurs in the marketing world. Those who run the most experiments simply win the most. In fact, in my experience, I have to run about 18 experiments for each winner that I pick out and use again. You will find this to be the fact over and over again in life. The people who refuse to be open minded to other things, to different ideas and ways of doing things, remain stuck in their old ways and don’t innovate, don’t create, and ultimately don’t see the success that they are looking for. But there are specific concepts and methods to keep in mind when it comes to running experiments, and that is what I am talking about in this episode: How to run experiments, learn from them, and adapt, why authenticity is so important to marketing, how true happiness comes from memories, and why services are such a good first business for entrepreneurs. “Authenticity in marketing is powerful” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Look for ways to release dopamine in people’s brains through your social media The exact time you post is not nearly as important as what you are posting Take care of your family, love the people who love you, and destroy your enemies Authenticity in marketing is powerful Run experiments, and don’t be afraid to try new things Instead of being so sure of yourself, go try different things out A huge amount of happiness comes from good memories, so invest in creating them Lots of people put too much effort into their experiments. Instead, make them crappy, so you REALLY know if you have a winner The smartest marketers become experiment machines A lot of people tell you you need to make a lot of mistakes, but that’s only because they did. If you want your message to connect and resound, if you want it to be shareable and something people want to tell their friends about, and if you want to be able to SELL, you need to understand the VRIN formula, and how to apply it to your own work. I’m also discussing the difference between “trend-catchers” and “trendsetters,” and why one will tend to make more money than the other, why controversy is valuable and you should push yourself out of your comfort zone to include more of it, and much more! “Don’t be afraid of controversy” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind “Trend catchers” make even more money than “trendsetters” “Edu-tainment” is going to win. 17 Ways to Motivate Yourself and Overcome Procrastination
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “Motivation is essential to success, but you need to LEARN how to motivate yourself” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Motivation is required for success. It’s as simple as that. But while most people understand this truth, few people take the time to learn how to motivate themselves effectively and well. People learn a few of the things that motivate them, like money, or relationships, or achievement, and they put all their energy into that one aspect. But below I’m outlining the 17 different aspects of what motivates you, and how you can use them to achieve more. In all of this, it’s importance to have balance. Too often people get all caught up in one or two of the below, and put 90% of their effort into those things. When You Should Stick it Out and When You Should Quit: Lessons from Steve Ballmer
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “Take quick trips to get our of your normal environment to increase your creativity” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Knowing when to give up and when to stick it out on a project is one of the most difficult things. While too many entrepreneurs and people in general are spending too much time working on a dead-end job, or a business model that is clearly not catching on, a lot of people also won’t stick things out long enough to actually find the success that they’re looking for. In this episode I’m talking about a conversation I recently had with Steve Ballmer about how to know whether a project is worth sticking out for the long run, or whether you need to give it up and work on something else. When “stickiness” (Steve Ballmer’s term) is required, it’s important that that stickiness and dedication to a clear vision is accompanied by a large amount of creativity. Because if you’re thinking about giving up on something, it probably means that exactly what you’re doing right now isn’t the best way to approach it. Get creative, and find a better way to move forward with it! “A lot of people try to get too much too fast with people they consider mentors” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind When you get the opportunity to meet amazing people, make sure you don’t turn it into an interrogation A lot of people try to get too much too fast with people they consider mentors Take quick trips to get our of your normal environment to increase your creativity Hard work isn’t the objective. Less work with more success is the goal A lot of people don’t have enough “stickability” to a project that has real potential One of the most difficult things is knowing whether to persevere and stick with a project or not Look for signs of potential to know whether to kill a project and move on, or to stick with it Listen to your intuition- you know a lot of things deep down Take every opportunity to learn efficiently, from wherever you can Be efficient in your learning and your life to have a good work/life balance Catch trends, and be open-minded to new things Learn more about your ad choices. How to Launch a New Product: A Conversation with Tai Lopez and Caleb Maddix
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “If you’re product has to be perfect from the start, it’s not the right product” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) A lot of people are trying to force their customers to like their product. They think that they understand what is best for their consumers, and so they are in this constant uphill battle to make the product so perfect that consumers can’t help but buy it. But this is a losing strategy. A product that is a good market fit doesn’t even need to be perfect for people to want to buy it. This is why it’s important to initially put very minimal effort into testing products, to see if they fit well. Then, once one of them really takes off, you know which product you should be focusing all of your energy on! On today’s podcast, we talk about how to market and sell, how to date, why the internet is changing the age requirements for wealth, what you should focus on while you’re young, and how Caleb should go about launching his book club. “Sell what people already like, don’t try to force them to like it” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Launch new products with minimal effort to see if they take off, before putting a lot of effort into them If you’re product has to be perfect from the start, it’s not the right product Sell what people already like, don’t try to force them to like it Focus on finding the perfect lead to know if the marketing will work Understanding how to wrap your product up correctly to make it something people want is the most important part of marketing Be constantly observant to get better at reading people Ask people stuff. They want to tell you With the anonymity of the internet, you can get rich when you’re young When you’re young, focus on trying to figure out how to make a money machine that steadily increases your wealth instead of getting rich fast CalebMaddix.tvLearn more about your ad choices. How to Motivate Yourself for Success with Caleb Maddix
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “The person who experiments the most wins” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Materialism motivates. It’s that simple. While everyone is different, and so the extent to which it will motivate you varies, it’s an important principle to keep in mind. Because many people feel guilty about their love of materialistic things. But use it as a tool! If cars motivate you, keep them around! If a nice house motivates you, keep that on your mind. Understand yourself, and your own intrinsic motivations, and then use those any time that you feel like you need an extra push of motivation. This is the second part of my conversation with 14 year-old Caleb Maddix, and we’re talking about why good parenting is one of the best ways to make the world a better place, why most people are working far too hard and training far too little, why critical thinking is an essential skill, why the person who experiments the most wins, and much, much more! “Materialism motivates, so use it for motivation!” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind You’re born with some talent. But when it comes to business, a lot of it is dependent on how much you train and practice, less innate talent Parenting is one of the most effective ways to make the world a better place Most people understand that learning is essential, but they don’t realize that humans learn faster under other people Original ideas are very rare. Almost everything is recycled Every time you meet haters, be thankful for them, they make it easier for you to succeed Hard work is not especially correlated with success. He’s 14 years old, has already made $100,000, and on today’s episode he’s talking about the key concepts and ideas that brought him success at such an early age. We’re talking about how to motivate kids to succeed, why people need to stop planning to do things “someday” and instead do them now, how to develop a hunger to learn, why curiosity is key, and why completion is the most essential part of anything you do! “Develop a hunger to learn” (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Motivate and incentivize your kids to succeed and continually improve themselves Kids shouldn’t be paid for chores, because adults aren’t. The Myth of Passive Income, and Why It Won’t Make You Wealthy
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “You will almost never build wealth through passive investment and income” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Passive income, and the power of it, is one of the most pervasive myths in modern culture. Many people think that passive income is what is going to eventually bring them real wealth. But look at the Forbes list! None of those people created wealth exclusively through passive investment and income. Those who make the most and become the most wealthy are those who are willing to be active in their investment, and to put in the time and effort required to build the kind of wealth they are looking for. On this episode I’m talking about the confusion and misinformation around passive income, how strong a motivator status is, why traditional schooling is holding so many people back, why you should set up multiple bases around the world for your business, and why life is a set of battles you should be willing to lose in order to win the war of having the ultimate good life. “Focus on winning the war of living the good life. Battles are insignificant. Withdraw if you need to” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Status is a strong motivator, and social media is playing a larger and larger role in status in the modern age The earned respect of peers is powerful If entrepreneurship and business could be integrate in traditional education, it would prepare people far better for the world Traditional schooling can really hold people back Consider setting up bases around the world for your business if you are at that level Couch surfing and visiting short-term is often not as enjoyable a way to go to places You will almost never build wealth through passive investment and income Focus on winning the war of living the good life. Battles are insignificant. Why Working 8 Hours a Day is Too Much
EThe Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “What you’re selling matters far more than all the best practices, tips, and hacks about how to sell” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) We’ve been over why there is not a correlation between working hard and having more money. The idea is disproven time and time again, even though it continues to be put forward is a reputable concept. I would even put forward that, unless you’re in a flow state where time seems to slow down (and fly by at the same time) and it basically doesn’t even feel like work, even 8 hours a day is too much! If you’re consistently working 8 hours a day in a non-flow state, you need to look into how you can decrease your input (hours worked) while keeping your output (money in) the same or increasing it. We’re going over all of that, as well as the skill of hiring the right people, why it’s a fool’s errand to try to predict outcomes, and why Dan Bilzerian might just be smarter than Coca Cola... “Hiring is a talent and skill that take time to develop and practice” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Work much smarter than you work hard You need turnover in your business. If you don’t have that, it means something is wrong, people aren’t being let go who should be Hiring is a talent and skill that take time to develop and practice If you have to train your employees too much, your input is too much. Try training less and see who makes it The only time you should work more than 8 hours a day is when you’re in flow In social media, simply post and compare results constantly It’s a fool’s game to try to predict outcomes. How You Can Make More Money
The Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “You MUST know what motivates you. This is the most important” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Almost everybody would like to be making more money, if they’re completely honest with themselves. But there are so many mindset problems that people have around money, how it’s made, and how you can get more of it. Most importantly, you MUST know what motivates you, and be very clear about it. If you’re motivated by fast cars, great, use that! If you’re motivating by doing good, great, us that! With the correct motivation, you could do a lot more than you are doing, so the reality is that motivation is often a major missing piece of the puzzle. In addition, don’t make the common mistake of equating hard work with money. The hardest workers in the world are not the richest. There’s simply not a correlation. Learn how to use tools effectively, be smart, and be willing to put in the hard work. But look at the hard work as just one aspect. The input (hard work) should be minimized and the output maximized. Learn how to upgrade your mindset around money to make more of it on this episode of the Tai Lopez Show! “Retrain your mind to see hard things as how hard they ACTUALLY are, and not more” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind You MUST know what motivates you. This is the most important Think of yourself as an investor, and study investing You can always find reasons why you don’t think you can make money, but there are also always examples of people in your circumstances that are making money The people who make the most money are simple about their motivation You will get paid according to the difficulty of the problems you solve Train yourself to keep things absolute, to keep from turning something small into a big problem Retrain your mind to see hard things as how hard they ACTUALLY are, and not more Working hard does not correlate with wealth The goal is not to maximize input, but rather to maximize output Better tools beat harder work every time If you are feeling burnt out, it’s a sign that you’re doing it wrong Learn more about your ad choices. How You Should Set Up Experiments To Grow Social Media
The Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “As a marketer, think in terms of experimentation, learning, and then tweaking” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) A lot of people want to be an influencer, but not very many people know how to do it well. In fact, not very many people or brands know how to leverage and build social media effectively. If you look at top brands in industries, for instance people like Tony Robbins or brands like Coca Cola, their social media platforms have far too few followers and far too poor engagement for how wide and broad their reach is. Yet, having strong social media is so important that it could be argued that it won the presidency in the last election! The problem is that most people are not actively creating experiments, measuring, analyzing, and then tweaking their strategy to be as effective as possible. They think they already know what to do, but most people don’t. This episode is about how to set up effective experiments to grow your social media and influence. “Brands tend to be way behind in advertising, and they’re wasting a lot of money” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Building apps are a huge business opportunity, even if you can’t build them yourself Brands tend to be way behind in advertising, and they’re wasting a lot of money Use your brainpower to build good experiments and learn from them As a marketer, think in terms of experimentation, learning, and then tweaking In social media, keep it entertaining Learn more about your ad choices.
