Episode 82: Delay Season 2077
EDelay season has struck down 2020's most anticipated games. The causalities? Final Fantasy VII, Cyberpunk 2077, and Marvel's Avengers. But while a delayed game may eventually be good, developers have it bad now. Is the crunch they suffer worth it to deliver video game masterpieces? No. Why would you even ask that? Of course no. Also! - Sony is skipping E3 (Part II) - Horizon Zero Dawn is PC-bound - Let's just let bygones be Byleths - Left 4 Dead 3 is dead

Save Room Plays: A Decade Under the Influence
EWelcome to the inaugural episode of The Save Room Plays--a brand new show dedicated to, well, the games we are playing! How is this different than our previous episodes and why did we do this, you ask? Well, that's for our sponsors to know and you to find out. The first episode is a buffet of conversation as we dish on the last decade of gaming. The 2010's were a wildly exciting time for video games as we saw the medium break through and rival movies with the rise of graphics and narrative excellence. Franchises like Mass Effect, God of War, Batman Arkham, and Uncharted spanned across two different console generations and told complete and brilliant arcs for characters. We saw studios like Telltale and Naughty Dog tell breathtaking and heartbreaking stories with their efforts and witnessed studios like Blizzard and Capcom make a new name for themselves. Even Indies like Journey and Gone Home proved smaller titles could immerse you in ways that AAA games could and that the size of the game doesn't equate to its greatness. Each year of the 2010s was as exciting as the last as we saw the decade push forward into a new era of technology. It was definitely a rewarding time to be a gamer as developers put their all in their craft to deliver standout experiences. Also on this episode, we talk about the comeback of Star Wars Battlefront 2, Daniel drinks with the Devil in After Party, and Kevin talks about his trip down retro gaming lane. So grab a drink, cozy up, and join your favorite Save Room boys for The Save Room Plays. ---------------------------------------------- Intro: "Warm Nights" by Lakey Inspired: soundcloud.com/lakeyinspired

Episode 81 - Xbox Doesn't Want Exclusives, They Want An Ecosystem
EThe big three console makers are poised to strike like lightning this year and are raining down rumors galore. Will Nintendo release a Switch Pro this year? Will the PlayStation 5 be fully backwards compatible with every generation? Will Xbox turn its back on exclusives for good? The answer: a resounding 'probably.' Also! - Resident Evil 3 Remake is deviating from the original big time! - Low Roar is riding high on Death Stranding! - Pokemon Sword & Shield are getting expansions and the gamers are still not happy because they'll never be happy! A full Dex doesn't make a full heart!

Episode 80: Our 2019 Game of the Year Battle Royale
EIt's finally 2020, gamers! And with a new year comes new resolutions and new things to get upset. But before you get that silly urge to tweet developers on twitter about your grievances about video game breasts or review bomb a game due to an exclusivity deal, join us on taking a look back on 2019's year in gaming. 2019 was a wild ride of people drinking E-Girl girl bath water, botched launches, and getting riled about up Pokemon. Really, 2019 proved that if a thing can make someone upset, it will. However, this was a prolific year for video games that put us on the world stage and proved the medium has moved past being just a toy. Aside from a whopping retrospect, we also pit the year's games together in a video game battle royale! Many games enter, but only one game wins! If you think Kevin is gonna talk up Resident Evil 2 with every breathe, you're probably right. So kick back, grab a beverage, and join us as we discuss our favorite games and moments of 2019. As always, we appreciate your support and making us the best show we can be. We hope this finds you well and can't wait to see you all in 2020. ------------------------------------------------------ Cuts: -Intro: 0:00:00 -Top Moments of 2019: 08:03:00 -Game of the Year Intro: 1:02:45 -Kevin's List: 1:05:30 -Daniel's List: 1:42:57 -The Save Room's Official GOTY Winner's Bracket: 2:32:04

The Cinema Showdown: Resident Evil vs Silent Hill
EThis week on The Save Room, we're bringing you the Cinema Showdown. In honor of our favorite time of the year and our love for horror, we sat down and watched 2002's Resident Evil and 2006's Silent Hill. Why would we do such a thing, you ask? Well other than the fact that we hate ourselves, we had a burning desire to pit the two behemoths against each other to see which one stands as the better video game adaptation. In one corner we have Milla Jovovich and in the other we have Pyramid Head. Who will stand victorious in the end? Well, we watched Milla Jovovich roundhouse kick many hellhounds to answer this question and more. So hurry into the church and join us as we board up all the windows and get downright spooky. --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Silent Hill Theme" courtesy of Akira Yomoaka and Konami "My Plague" courtesy of Slipknot and Roadrunner

Episode 67: Top 10 Goofiest Gaming Merchandise
EThis week on The Save Room, the boys are stricken with madness over Hot Girl Summer, as it's the only feasible explanation for how this episode came together. This week we're talking about how the new Switch Lite model is pissing everyone off, how the new Mortal Kombat movie is gonna be rated-R and have fatalities, and how Tim Miller thinks that you'll be pleased with Sonic the Hedgehog's redesign. Our topic this week was inspired by Gamer Girl bathwater that you've surely heard about. It got us thinking: what is some of the weirdest gaming-related shit we've seen. Well, since everyone loves lists we decided to compile a list of some of the goofiest gamer merchandise to ever hit the market. Spoilers: it gets a little wild. If you have had any ridiculous gaming merchandise yourself, tell us and laugh with us about it on twitter over @saveroomshow. As always thanks for tuning in and being the best Save Roommates we could ask for!

Episode 56: Stadia: Consoles Die Twice
EThis week on The Save Room, the future of gaming is almost here, so throw out your consoles because they don't matter anymore. Google has finally announced its console-less cloud streaming platform, Stadia. Stadia boasts the ability to be streamed from any device and all from a controller that connects via wifi to an app while promising 8K resolution. ( Wha-whaaat?) The announcement which dropped at GDC 2019 left a lot of questions such as pricing, data caps, consistent experiences due to internet speeds, and what first party games will come down the line. It has spawned various conversations across the industry about the future of gaming and how we're inevitably heading towards a stream-only future. We also dish on how Sony ripped off Nintendo Directs with its new State of Play, get hyped on more Mortal Kombat 11 news, and Daniel loses his mind over Cuphead coming to the Switch. If you have the stomach for it and your ears don't hate us, then stick around for the tail end of the episode where you'll hear our thoughts on DmC: Devil May Cry, The Division 2, and of course, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. So tune in to find out how many times we've died at this point because it's definitely more than twice. (Spoilers: it's a lot).

Episode 55: Loot Showers and Demon Powers
EThis week on The Save Room your two favorite sad boys are reunited and back in their respective hosting seats after two weeks apart. That's right, Kevin is finally back from his Ireland trip and talks all about castles, Guiness, and how he has been forever changed by the Blarney Stone. On this episode: Sony has debunked rumors that they're buying Take-Two Interactive; Japan has halted shipment and sales of Judgement over actor Pierre Taki's alleged drug use; Days Gone has gone gold; and The Messenger is finally coming to PS4. In typical Save Room fashion, this one is a raucous loot shower of news and discussion. But would you expect anything less? We cap the episode off with our What We've Been Playing segment, where Daniel drops some soft Anthem impressions and our resident Capcom Captain gives his hard thoughts on Devil May Cry 5. So grab a Guiness, strap in, and get your devil trigger at the ready--this one is a wild ride.

Episode 49: Our 2018 Game of the Year Blowout
EIt's a new year over here at The Save Room, so it goes without saying that we had to look back and remember 2018. And what a better way to do that than with a bevy of superlatives and video game lists because who doesn't love lists. That's right, our 2018 Game of the Year episode is finally here! On what is our longest episode to date we look back on the highs and lows of 2018. It was a year of controversy and gamer outrage, but despite that there were many notable moments for the industry as well that made video games shine. The meat of the episode though is our Game of the Year conversation where we do a back and forth on our respective top 5 games of last year with some honorable mentions sprinkled on top. 2018 was a phenomenal year for video games and one that is well worth talking about. But what made last year especially great was you, the listener. So if you happen to make it to the end of this trash-fire retrospect, there's a special shoutout to you all at the end. Thanks for making 2018 a great year for us. We promise the episode will be shorter in 2019. --Cuts-- 0:00:00: Intro/Gaming Resolutions 0:13:16: Free PS Plus Games/Xbox Games with Gold for January 0:18:36: The Save Room Superlatives for 2018 1:10:06: Game of the Year 2018 Honorable Mentions 1:34:12: Kevin and Daniel's Top 5 Games of 2018 2:41:19: Special End of the Year Shoutouts ------------------------------

Episode 47: Geoff Keighley's Vidya Game Jamboree
EKevin is joined by special guest Jess (or "The Jess") to dissect Geoff Keighley's annualized collection of video game commercials: The Game Awards! This year, Geoff accomplished the impossible by gathering the holy trinity -- Reggie Fils-Aime, Shawn Layden, and Philly Spencer unified at last. Colliding their atoms into one, Geoff created the perfect salesman. Pudgy, disarming, constantly gesticulating... Shawny Fils-a-Spence was magnificent. All three minutes it was alive anyway. Episode 46: Scorched Beasts: The Crimes of Todd Howard
EFrom its massive game-breaking bugs to its shit-storm PR nightmare--this week we're doing a deep-dive on the recent fallout from Fallout 76. It seemed like every day over the last two weeks we were only hearing continually worse news about Bethesda's latest online venture with Fallout 76. The game has seen harsh criticism for its off-kilter online ecosystem, empty world and quests, crashes, and how it wasn't what players wanted. Hell, the company is even being faced with a class-action lawsuit over false advertising. Some of that can be forgiven, but players were further burned by how a promised canvas bag in the Power Armor Edition of the game was swapped out with a cheap nylon substitute (with Bethesda promising fake money to make it up to us). Buggy games and false advertising are nothing new to the gaming industry, but it's rather how Bethesda, a major AAA developer, has followed suit and responded to it all that is troubling. In our discussion we talk about what Todd Howard and co. could have done differently following the game's launch and what they need to do moving forward to gain back our trust and keep us with their games. We also talk some TGA predictions, how Kingdom Hearts 3 has finally gone gold, how Resident Evil is getting a cinematic remake, how Red Dead Online is practically the Purge 1899, and go on about how damn good Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 4 is. This one is a long one, so hopefully you can stick out our antics (and bugs). We promise an update next week that will make listening more manageable. As always, we thank you guys for listening and being the best Save Roommates we could ask for. We hope the holidays and video games are finding you well. --------------Cuts---------------- 0:00:00--Intro/Housekeeping 0:05:47--The Game Awards 2018 0:10:41--News 0:57:30--Shoutout Article of the Week 1:03:18--Topic: The Fallout 76 Fallout 1:32:03--What We've Been Playing 1:38:27--Red Dead Redemption 2 1:49:36--Spider-Man (The Heist/Turf Wars DLC) 1:57:20--Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 -----------------------------------------------

Episode 44: Red Dead Redemption 2 Impressions
EThis week on The Save Room: It's the Tale of Two Fandoms! In one corner, we have The Final Smash Direct and in the other we have Blizzcon 2018. Both events were incredibly hyped up in fans' minds and built on misplaced expectations from these respective fan bases. Fan outcry broke over Nintendo and Sakurai's exclusion of characters from the final Super Smash Bros ultimate and lost their minds when a piranha plant made into it the final roster over a bear and his bird. And at Blizzcon this past weekend, Blizzard fans openly bashed the developer when they decided to close their annual event with their new mobile game, Diablo Immortal, instead of announcing Diablo 4--a game they said they had no intention of announcing just yet. Our deep-dive discussion hits hard on entitlement and how regardless of what you want from a game, it's not okay to attack anyone when you don't get what you want. We also take you on a journey across the wastelands of West Virginia with Kevin's Fallout 76 impressions, break down the Playstation Classic, talk about how we're totally here for Brie Larson as Samus Aran in a Metroid movie, and give you our full impressions on Rockstar Games' newest endeavor, Red Dead Redemption 2. Unlike the opening hours of RDR2, this episode is anything but a slow-burn. As always, thanks for tuning in and giving us your support. Quick Save #2: Halloween H40 (40 Years Later)
EIt's Quick Save #2! On this edition of Quick Save we're talking David Gordon Green's Halloween 2018: what works, what doesn't, and how this sequel stands in terms of the legacy of the 40 years of Michael Myers. We go all-in, discussing dry-f**king and murderous arts and crafts in Haddonfield, as well as deconstructing The Shape himself and how its podcasting after all that motivates a man to kill. So seal the doors, lock your windows, and hold your Jamie Lee Curtis close. Mikey is coming home.

Episode 43: The Good, the Bad and the Crunch
EHey Save Roommates, gather around the campfire for another weekly episode of The Save Room. This week we get all sorts of spooky as we dish on getting lost in the new Netflix series Haunting of Hill House and fight our way back through the Baker Estate in Resident Evil 7. Kevin is also hanging dong in the Order 1886 while Daniel talks on Playstation Now and confesses his unholiest confession of never having played a Rockstar game before this week. Also: Shuhei is letting us change our PSN names, Skybound wants to employ former Telltale employers to finish TWD, Red Dead 2 is releasing on two discs, Days Gone is delayed, and Gooigi is actually a thing! We also decided to flip the script a little this week by making our news pieces shorter and rearing up for a bigger topic. If you didn't know, the gaming industry was set afire last week following an interview that Rockstar's founder Dan Houser had with Vulture. The interview comes on the heels of the highly anticipated release of Red Dead Redemption 2 with Houser's statement about 100-hour work weeks spawning numerous conversations about the nature of work "crunch" and how working conditions are across Rockstar's many studios. Rockstar has known to be private in the past and following this story, we've had countless behind-the-scenes accounts emerging that shed light on what's actually going on. While the story is still ongoing and being investigated further by Kotaku's Jason Schreir, we put our spurs to the topic and heavily discuss what we know so far, how we feel regarding excessive overtime across the gaming industry and what needs to change. While we're no experts on the topic, we wanted to present the subject in its fullest details while giving Rockstar the benefit of the doubt until the whole story comes out. So strap on your boots and get your saddles ready--this one is going to be a wild ride. ----------------------------------------- ---Cuts---- 0:00:00--Intro/What We've Been Playing 0:27:20--Quick Hits (or "Next Level News") 1:14:18--Topic: Rockstar and the Problem of Crunch in the Industry ----------------------------

Halloween Special: The Spooky Room (feat. Jess!)
EOn this very special, and very spooky, rendition of The Save Room we're dusting the cobwebs off of our favorite VHS tapes and going all in on our favorite Halloween horror flicks! Kevin is joined by friend of the show Jess! She brings with her a wealth of knowledge about everything ghoulish, ghastly, and outright groady. Submitted for the approval of the Save Roommates, we present to you: THE SPOOKY ROOM. *lighting crashes* *a black cat yowls* *a goblin gets his wings*

Episode 42: Harry Potter and the Console Wars
EThe Save Room is back giving you that big Friday Mood. This week on The Save Room, the boys are back on their long-form bullshit. We talk more Hollow Knight, Kevin's Assassin's Creed Odyssey impressions and why Daniel always keeps five guns in his inventory slots. We also talk the future of the console space: with Xbox moving towards a stream-only initiative and Sony's announcement that PS5 was happening, it will be interesting to see where these platforms take gaming in the next generation. How long until we can stream video games on the back of our loved ones heads, Microsoft? Meanwhile, Nintendo is unscathed, still doing their own thing releasing 100 new iterations of the Switch. And in our latest edition of the AdaptationCast: We're also getting a Mega Man movie, a Monster Hunter movie, AND a DDR apocalypse movie. We didn't ask for it, but boy, are we getting it. All of that topped off with a new Harry Potter RPG? This week's episode will having you saying Accio Save Room! As always, thanks for listening and giving us your continued support. You guys are the best Save Roommates . ---------------------------------
