Halloween 2022 Video Nasty Special!
EWe may be halfway through the November, but we’re still longing for October and our favorite spooky time of the year. So much so that we sat town around the Jack o lantern and talked about (nearly) every movie we saw during the 31 days of Halloween. That’s right, we’re doing a big Halloween grab bag of some of the best and worst horror movies we saw: from the new Hellraiser to V/H/S/94 to Terrifier 2 to the Grimcutty. It’s a round robin conversation of found footage, slasher movies, body horror, and some of the nastiest video nasties we saw. So grab the candy corn and prepare yourself for a Halloween treat.

Save Room Reviews: Halloween Ends
EThe boys are returning to Haddonfield for Halloween Ends, the final entry in David Gordon Green’s Halloween trilogy. Bullies, Scarecrow dance parties, and romantic melodrama are abound in this whimper of a conclusion to Michael and Laurie’s 44 year bout. Where Halloween Ends maybe fails to stick the landing, it does excel at boldly introducing a new character and newish concepts that will undoubtedly make this one of the most talked about and divisive entries in decades. It was an interesting take that had us watching with open mouths while wondering: when will that Michael guy show up?! While Halloween Kills beat into us that Evil should and will die tonight, Ends instead proves that Evil is a presence that is still alive and well so long as you stare into its eyes for long enough.

Save Room Reviews Double Feature: Barbarian + Pearl
EFor the first time in the history of podcasts, Save Room Reviews is doing a double feature! That's right, roommates, we saw two horror movies that we just had to talk about back-to-back for you all. That's twice the movies with twice the scares if you do the math. In one corner is Zach Cregger's Barbarian which is a careening roller coaster ride of a movie with surprises around every corner and doors that you don't want to go through. In the other corner is Ti West's period character piece slasher combo, Pearl, which sees Mia Goth dancing, slashing, and shining in the main role. Both, while wildly different, exhibit the ways that horror stretches the parameters of the genre to extremes and prove that in 2022 horror fans are eating good with original concepts. In true Save Room Reviews fashion, this is a full-on spoiler cast shit show, so if you haven't seen either come back when you have and get ready for creepy basements, Justin Long freak outs, and endless buckets of technicolor blood.

Save Room Reviews: PREY (2022)
EIf it bleeds, you can podcast about it. Nick (of twitch.tv/makemonsters fame) joins Kevin to discuss the latest Predator movie -- a prequel set in the early 1700s. For all of the up's and down's this franchise has suffered, Prey marks one of its highest points thanks to the amazing Amber Midthunder and Trachtenberg's focused direction. Will it piss off chuds? Who cares? The movie rules.

Save Room Reviews: Netflix's Resident Evil
EZootopia fans rejoice! I mean -- REjoice! Kevin and Nick (of twitch.tv/makemonsters fame) suffered through all 8 episodes of Netflix's frustrating adaptation of RESIDENT EVIL. Long story short: it kind of works, except for all the times it doesn't, which is often. Very, very often. But, man, Lance Reddick really lands it as Wesker. And who doesn't love a CG licker?

Save Room Plays: With Sony’s PlayStation 2021 Showcase, Comes Great Power
EWelcome back to Save Room Plays! Did you miss us? This week we’re covering Sony’s long-awaited PlayStation 2021 Showcase. It has been nearly 365 days since the last showcase, and aside from State of Plays and sweet nothings from Herman Hurst, not much has been known about what lies ahead for the future of PS5. That was until September 8th. Sony showed up for their 50 minute showcase and pulled out all the stops—that is once they got past that weird opening commercial (What was that even about? Play?). They delivered a showstopper full of second party titles, AA titles, and an impressive reveal of all new Sony first party games including Spider-Man 2, Marvel’s Wolverine, and God of War: Ragnarok that fueled the fire of the console wars even more. While Sony brought the hype and basically asked Phil Spencer to hold their beer, it does leave a lot of questions still. Like will Sony ever grow to be more than a first party AAA machine? Will their ecosystem ever be consumer friendly? And does it even matter when you’ve got Wolverine and Spider-Man? Questions aside, we were thrilled by some of these reveals and remain excited for PS5’s future ahead.
