Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell this week let it slip that the Fed is not happy with the results of previous rounds of quantitative easing, and will instead alter the parameters by which the body determines what is or isn't inflation and employment. Everyone in the Roberts' Household has a job; those who fail to perform at their jobs get fired (the kids' job is to go to school and get good grades; i.e., a good education). Nationally, college entrance exam scores have plummeted from a peak in the 1960's to a ranking in the second quintile (38th) against other industrialized nations. It is no accident Asian students perform better than American's, when percentages of household dollars are examined: Chinese spend 2% on Housing and 25% on Education; the inverse is true in the U.S. Outcome- or Equality-based educational programs will guarantee only that students emerge with educations of the lowest common denominator.
