For the very first time, World Pride is being held in Australia. And while the LGBTQIA+ is being encouraged and given a platform to celebrate along with their allies, there is a stage in Australia where the rainbow flag still sparks controversy. A lot of sporting codes in Australia include an annual Pride round in their fixtures, where players are asked to don the rainbow flag either on their arm bands, guernseys, jerseys or elsewhere. But, some players refuse to wear the symbol and choose to instead boycott that game. On the third of May 2007 three year old Madeleine McCann vanished from an apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal. The McCanns were visiting from the United Kingdom, where they lived. This weekend Sydney kicks off WorldPride, a global celebration for the LGBTQIA+ community. 17 days of events, performances, rainbows and glitter as far as the eye can see. We'll see buildings lit up in the Pride flag, streets lined for the annual Mardi Gras Parade, and thousands of LGBTQIA+ members celebrating. But amidst the celebration, will also be a human rights conference that aims to create a world that is safe, free and equal for LGBTQIA+ people. It's sometimes hard to remember the stigma and discrimination that the LGBTQIA+ community still face when we see celebrated pop culture icons and Pride parades with their rainbow flags. But discrimination continues everyday. Earlier this month 16 year old Stella Berry was bitten and killed by a shark in Perth's Swan River. It's the first shark fatality for Australia in 2023, and the first in The Swan River in a century. We all know there are sharks in ocean. We all know that they are dangerous predators. But do you know what to do when confronted with one?
