What Happens If Bruce Lehrmann Loses His Defamation Case

For two weeks Australia has watched on as witnesses have described what they believe went down in Parliament house in 2019. Both Bruce Lehrmann and Brittany Higgins have endured attacks on their credibility and honesty as they have been cross examined over the night they returned to their place of work after a night out drinking. But with the end of the trial nearing, what happens If Bruce Lehrmann loses? Will he face a similar situation to former Australian soldier Ben Roberts Smith who has essentially been named as a war criminal after his defamation trial? The Quicky team takes you through the trial so far and the implications of a case that never got an answer in a criminal court. Subscribe to Mamamia GET IN TOUCH Feedback? We’re listening! The Children Of Thalidomide: An Apology Decades Late

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese recently stood on the floor in federal parliament and apologised to the victims and families of a shocking 1950's and 60's pharmaceutical nightmare. For women who were struggling with morning sickness back then, a drug was being marketed to them as the cure for their nausea. Thalidomide would help ease a rolling tummy but what those mothers didn't know and what the people who manufactured the drug failed to explore, was the impact this drug would have on their unborn children. Today The Quicky team looks into the impacts of thalidomide, and the children who still live with it's devastating consequences today. Subscribe to Mamamia GET IN TOUCH Feedback? We’re listening! Why We're Obsessed With Ghost Stories & The Paranormal

Since the beginning of human existence, we have had a relationship with the afterlife and those who reportedly inhabit it. We tell stories of those spirits who aren't able to transition into the next life, spending their time tied to this one, haunting the people who remain, but there is an important role that telling ghost stories has on the psyche of humans. Israel Poised To Take Gaza City: What Does That Mean?

Over the past few days, Israeli troops have moved into the heart of Gaza, surrounding Gaza City and giving those who remain amongst the rubble after almost a month of airstrikes, just a four hour window to leave before they move in. Israel says they are there to annihilate Hamas, the militant terror group who launched the deadly attack on October 7. In this episode of The Quicky, we take a look at what will happen once this is all over? Will Israel take control of all Palestinian territory in Gaza? What will happen to those who call it home? And what does this mean for the region and the rest of the world? Subscribe to Mamamia GET IN TOUCH Feedback? We’re listening! He's Not A 'Good Bloke': Stop Defending Domestic Violence Killers

Warning: This episode speaks of violence and suicide. Please take care when listening. Last week 21 year old Lilie James was killed in a Sydney private school, her body found in the bathroom of the school's gym. Her killer is suspected to be 24 year old Paul Thijssen, a man she had dated. This week the former headmaster of St Andrew's Cathedral School, where Lilie was a teacher and was killed, wrote a letter home to parents and students where he called Thijssen a "delight", "a fine student" and even a "role-model". Too often we see and hear things like this said by men about men in their lives who have gone on to do unspeakable things to either their wives and partners, or their own children. In this episode of The Quicky, we take a look at the 'Good Bloke Syndrome' and why it's time some men held a mirror up to their own behaviours to understand what is happening to the women of Australia.
