History has been made. It took 92 years but a foreign language film has finally won Best Picture. "Parasite" was the big winner on Oscar night leading the way with 4 wins including Best Picture(!!), Best Director, Best International Feature Film and Best Original Screenplay. "Joker" leads this year's Academy Awards with 11 nominations. After working with shorts for a few years, director Jérémy Clapin made his feature filmmaking debut this year with the Netflix animated film "I Lost My Body." The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier let year where it became the first animated film to win the Nespresso Grand Prize. It has since gone on to win various critics awards and receive a nomination for Best Animated Feature at the 92nd Academy Awards. Tasked with having to bring WWII Germany to life through the eyes of not just the story's youthful protagonist but also through the eyes of director Taika Waititi, costume designer Mayes C. Rubeo had a huge task in front of her. "Clemency" debuted earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival and has been making its way through various other festivals before opening in limited release this past week. At its center is a wonderful performance from Academy Award nominee Alfre Woodard but under the strong direction of Chinonye Chukwu.
