We have all suffered losses these past two years, but the most painful losses of all involve relationships. It is hard to be happy when our core relationships are not healthy. So as we enter the holiday season, perhaps it is time for a reset. Perhaps it is time to give peace a chance.

Harvest Weekend is the primary way The Hills Church raises funds to support our missionaries, church plants, and partner organizations as we pursue The Great Commission locally and around the world. This message from one of our church planters, Kenny Hart, from The Gathering Harlem takes a look at Matthew 9:35-38 where Jesus said, "The harvest is great, but the workers are few."

When God grants a victory it is not only a time to celebrate, it is also a time to commit to generosity so more victories can come.

Nehemiah knew that the real goal was not to build a wall, but to build a people. He led the nation to recommit to obeying God's Word and "living differently" for the sake of their future.

Before Nehemiah could build a wall he had to build a team. He did so by calling a diverse community to unite behind a common vision. He made sure there was a place for everyone to participate in the great work God had given them to do.

"New" wears off quickly, especially when opposition, hardship, and exhaustion arise. But the goal of the visionary is not to start; it is to finish.

Nehemiah prayed believing God would open a door, and when that door opened he was prepared. People of vision expect God to create opportunities, and they expect those opportunities to be of the "all things are possible with God" variety. This teaching will remind the congregation God wants to see great things done in His name, and that we must believe and strategize for those God-created opportunities.

The first thing Nehemiah did when he heard of the bad shape of the walls of Jerusalem was pray. Prayer should always be the first response, not the last resort. If prayer is not necessary to accomplish the vision, then the vision is not big enough to honor God. This message will challenge the church to ASK for nations and generations. Jesus never called anyone to follow Him alone. Discipleship is a team sport. It is impossible to grow in Christ-likeness apart from community. This sermon will explain how essential membership in the body is to our becoming more like Jesus.

One of the first things the earliest Christians did was devote themselves to fellowship. Believers are belongers. This lesson will explore how critical a spiritual family is to the health of one's faith.

Sometimes we forget that the church is Jesus’ idea. In this sermon we will be reminded that Jesus started the church, uses the church, and loves the church. The church matters to us because it matters to Jesus.

God's reconciling work in our lives mirrors the design of a cross - both vertical and horizontal.

The cross is more than a means God used to save His people. It is also the method God uses to mature and shape His people because anyone called into God's kingdom is called to live in light of the story of the cross.

Was God just sending a message through the cross, or did something actually happen? Ask a Christian that, and they'll probably say something like, "Jesus died in my place" or "Jesus was the perfect sacrifice" or even "Jesus defeated sin." But do we understand how statements fit in God's story and in our own stories?

The biggest theme of Christian mission is also the biggest obstacle to its warm reception. But in the subversive message of the cross, God makes His power known.

We serve a God that is alive, active & speaking to people all over the world. So why is it that we live as if our God is dead, distant and silent? God wants to encounter you, but he doesn't stop there. He wants you to be a walking encounter for others.
