They are also seeking to compel further deposition of Bertilino, hoping the Judge will order him to disclose the contents of conversations with Brian Laundrie, which Bertilion asserts are protected by attorney-client privilege. The TikTok defamation psychic's case continues as the TikTok'er accuses the court of inappropriate behavior while not adhering to the request for discovery. Clerk of Court Becky Hill’s son was arrested for wiretapping, allegedly in connection with his job as the IT director for Colleton County. Interestingly, this case investigation started a few days after team Murdaugh filed their motion to stay the appeal, and Becky Hill’s phone was subsequently taken via a search warrant in connection with this investigation. Lastly, Alex Murdaugh pled guilty to the state financial crimes and was sentenced to 27 years. Alex addressed his victims and the media, seemingly trying to make everyone understand that he felt bad for the crimes he committed and insisted that he did not kill his wife and son. Alex Murdaugh was making moves leading up to his global plea deal. He was scheduled to go to trial on November 27, 2023, and will instead be sentenced on November 28, 2023. In addition to his plea to resolve the state financial cases, he also had a win with Judge Newman voluntarily recusing himself from hearing the Motion for New Trial on the murder case. Kouri Richins, who's accused of poisoning her husband with fentanyl, was back in court for a slate of hearings. Her attorneys had made a motion to dismiss the charges, accusing the prosecution of misconduct, while the court gave her a lot of room to argue the motion was denied. Coach Monica, head coach of the Navarro College Cheer team who was highlighted in Netflix's series Cheer has been dismissed from a lawsuit and cleared by USA Cheer after a six-month investigation. Team Murdaugh has asked the South Carolina Supreme Court to remove Judge Newman from hearing Murdaugh’s motion for a new trial and future cases. That includes the trial set for later this month. They allege that Newman is a witness for the Motion for New Trial because of Clerk of Court Becky’s behavior, which he is aware of. That motion revolves around alleged jury tampering. For the remaining Murdaugh cases, they claim Judge Newman has expressed his opinion regarding Murdaugh’s guilt, which violates Murdaugh's right to a fair and impartial trial. The murder has gone unprosecuted for 27 years despite Duane ‘Keefe D’ Davis talking about the killing and surrounding incidents leading up to it with federal law enforcement in his book “Compton Street Legond” and in interviews.
