On January 23, 2024, Donna Adelson appeared in court for a quick status conference and to officially waive the conflict with her new attorneys. She hired the same attorneys that represented her son, Charlie Adelson, who was already convicted in the murder-for-hire of Daniel Markel. These attorneys may have communicated with Donna before she tried to flee the US, possibly making them witnesses. This may be a very bad idea.
