This Hormone CONTROLS Your Metabolism (& It’s Easy To Get)

If you are interested in losing weight or simply maintaining weight then you need to pay close attention to your basal metabolic rate. This rate controls how many calories you burn at rest and it’s the most important factor when it comes to your weight. The question is, can you do anything to augment your basal metabolic rate to improve how many calories you burn at rest? And the answer to that question is yes. This is because your thyroid is primarily responsible for controlling BMR. It’s estimated that up to 40 to 60% of your caloric burn is regulated in part by your thyroid. And there are things you can do to improve your thyroid function to increase how many calories you are burning at baseline. One of those things is by taking thyroid hormones, especially t2 thyroid hormone. Emerging research is showing that T2 thyroid hormone is one of the thyroid hormones in your body that is primarily responsible for regulating your metabolism. And it just so happens that T2 is the only thyroid hormone that is available over the counter. Studies in both humans and animals suggest that T2 thyroid hormone may be an emerging treatment for obesity both in people with thyroid disease and in those with normal thyroid disease. Learn more about using T2, its safety profile, how much to use, and much more. #t2 #weightloss #weightlosstips #weightlosssupplement #weightlossjourney #weightlosstreatment #thyroid Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? The BEST Exercises For Your Thyroid (Do THESE & Avoid The Rest)

Exercise is probably one of the best treatments for your thyroid that you aren’t taking advantage of. Don’t believe me? Here are just some of the benefits: 1. Higher free thyroid hormone levels. 2. Lower TSH level. 3. Faster weight loss. 4. Increased muscle mass and better muscle health overall. 5. Improved mood. 6. More consistent bowel movements. 7. Reduced inflammation. If you wanted to take advantage of a treatment that can help you almost as much as a thyroid medication (without the need for a prescription) then exercise is something you simply can’t ignore. But how can you exercise for your thyroid? And if you do, how do you know which exercises are best? Exercising with a thyroid condition is difficult, but not impossible. Symptoms like fatigue, and muscle pain, which can stem from low thyroid function, can limit your ability to exercise but the good news is that exercising can actually help alleviate these symptoms. If you are going to exercise, the best combination of exercises includes aerobic exercise along with strength training. Doing both of these will allow you to take advantage of the benefits of exercise without causing more harm than good. By the way, exercise works for ALL types of thyroid conditions including hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, hypothyroidism, thyroiditis, those post thyroidectomy, and those post radioactive iodine ablation. #thyroid #hypothyroidism #hashimoto’s #exercise #healthy #exercises #thyroidawareness #thyroidtreatment Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? Selenium: The BEST Treatment For Hashimoto’s & Graves’

Selenium may be one of the best and easiest ways to reduce thyroid antibodies if you have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or Graves’ disease. Selenium is a trace mineral that is necessary for the function of certain enzymes and proteins. One of the functions of selenium is to create glutathione which acts to protect the thyroid gland from oxidative stress. When selenium is low, your thyroid gland is open to damage just from creating thyroid hormones. Taking selenium has been shown in several studies to help lower thyroid antibodies and even balance thyroid hormone levels like free t3 and free T4. There is some conflicting information, though, regarding selenium supplementation as not all studies suggest that it’s effective. The reason for this is probably because selenium supplementation works best for those people who need it and who are deficient. Should you take selenium as a thyroid patient? I think so because the benefits far outweigh the potential negative side effects and, even if it doesn’t help lower your antibodies, you haven’t done any harm in the process. #thyroid #hypothyroidism #hashimoto’s #selenium #supplements #healthy #hashimotos #hashimoto #hashimotosdisease #graves #gravesdisease Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? 5 DAILY Supplements For Better Thyroid Health

Taking the right supplements has the potential to dramatically improve your thyroid and either help it work better or prevent future problems from occurring. Whether you’re trying to optimize your thyroid function because you have an existing problem like hypothyroidism or because you just want to prevent a future thyroid problem from occurring, these are, in my opinion, the 5 best supplements to take for your thyroid EVERY day: 1. A daily multivitamin. A multivitamin because your thyroid is incredibly active and chews through a lot of nutrients. The most important include zinc, selenium, vitamin A, iodine, and vitamin B12. A deficiency in any of these may impair thyroid function. 2. Protein powder. Protein powder makes the list because it’s one of my all-around favorite supplements for one reason: it helps you stay on track with your diet. In addition, there’s also a connection between your muscle mass and thyroid function. 3. Omega 3 fatty acids. Fatty acids help to lower inflammation which helps ensure you can make more of the most powerful thyroid hormone T3. 4. Vitamin D3. Low vitamin D is associated with an increased risk of developing hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Graves’ disease, AND thyroid cancer. Vitamin D is a no-brainer. 5. A probiotic. A probiotic because that’s the easiest way to support your gut and make sure you can both absorb nutrients and thyroid medication (if you take any). #thyroid #hypothyroidism #hashimoto’s #thyroidsupport #thyroidsupplements #hashimoto Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? You’ve Been Lied To: Brazil Nuts & Selenium

Yes, you’ve been lied to: brazil nuts are not the source of selenium that you’ve been led to believe! Yes, they are definitely the single best food source of selenium out there, but they have a few dirty little secrets that you should know about BEFORE you start eating them. These secrets are so impactful on their overall benefit that I think it often makes more sense to supplement with selenium as opposed to getting it from brazil nuts. Here’s why: The selenium content in brazil nuts varies dramatically from nut to nut. Some studies suggest that it’s as high as 6 mcg per nut all the way as high as 154 mcg per nut. The second reason has to do with selenium toxicity. It’s easier than you might think to accidentally take too much and when you couple this with the variability in dosing, you’re very likely to get much more or much less than you think. The third has to do with the potential increased risk that taking too much selenium can have on diabetes risk. The bottom line? Think twice about using brazil nuts as your primary source of selenium. If you want to eat them, then use no more than 1 per day to make sure you stay out of the trouble zone. #brazilnuts #selenium #nutrition #nutrientdeficiencies #supplements Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? 6 Signs Your Thyroid Is Inflamed

Your thyroid gland is the most important endocrine gland in your body (yes, I said it!) because it controls and regulates just about every cell in your body as well as just about every hormone in your body. It also happens to be sensitive to inflammation and if this happens, you will feel it. These are the most common signs of thyroid gland inflammation: 1. Fluctuating thyroid hormone levels. 2. Feeling run down. 3. Joint pain and muscle pain. 4. Allergies or reactions to foods. 5. Skin problems. 6. Symptoms of other autoimmune diseases. Because thyroid gland inflammation is never normal, you should always get it checked out. The most common cause of thyroid gland inflammation is the autoimmune disease Hashimoto’s. If you feel you have inflammation make sure to get tested for this condition and make sure you take steps to reduce inflammation as quickly as possible! You can do this with natural therapies, changing your diet, and taking the right supplements. #thyroid #thyroidawareness #hypothyroidism #hyperthyroidism #thyroidproblems #thyroidsymptoms Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? The WORST Supplements For Your Thyroid

Using the right supplements has the potential to help you manage your thyroid symptoms and support your thyroid. Using the wrong supplements can do the exact opposite. In fact, using the right supplements is even worse because not only will they not help you feel better, but you’re also wasting money. This video outlines some of the WORST supplements and WORST formulations that thyroid patients can take. If you are looking to improve thyroid function and better manage your symptoms then you’ll want to avoid these supplements and ingredients: 1. Magnesium oxide. 2. Zinc oxide. 3. High-dose iodine. 4. Cyanocobalamin. 5. Vitamin D2. Instead of using these formulations, you will want to opt for magnesium glycinate, zinc glycinate, low-dose iodine, methylcobalamin, and vitamin D3. #thyroid #hypothyroidism #thyroidsupport #thyroidawareness #hashimoto #supplements Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? Eat Chia Seeds For Better Thyroid Health

There are plenty of foods that can improve the health of your thyroid but few are better than chia seeds. Chia seeds are filled with incredible ingredients in the form of healthy fat,, plant-based protein, nutrients, and other bioactive compounds. When you combine this with the fact that they are easy to consume and last a long time on your shelf, they are a powerhouse food for thyroid patients. Here are several reasons why I think thyroid patients should seriously consider eating chia seeds each day: #1. Help control your appetite and support a healthy weight. Because chia seeds expand when introduced to water, they can help you feel full longer. This makes chia seeds a great food if you are trying to lose weight. #2. Great source of omega-3 fatty acids. Chia seeds contain a massive amount of omega 3 fatty acids, even more than fish. The key here is that the omega 3 fatty acids found in chia seeds are shorter chain compared to the longer chain DHA and EPA found in fish (so both are still necessary). #3. They are loaded with protein. For a plant, they contain a modest amount of protein per serving. You won’t be able to get your daily protein intake from chia seeds alone, but they can spruce up the protein content of other foods and dishes. #4. Highly nutritious and packed with vitamins and minerals. Compared to other foods, chia seeds boast an incredible nutrient profile that includes vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, proteins, and isoflavones. #5. Easy to incorporate into your diet. See a quick and easy recipe below! #6. Help Keep Your Cholesterol Level Normal. Several studies have shown that eating chia seeds may promote healthy cholesterol levels: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37456479/ My favorite way to eat chia seeds is by putting them in my morning smoothie but you can also easily make a chia bowl. Here’s a quick and simple chia bowl recipe: 3 tablespoons of chia seeds ¾ cup of non-dairy milk 1 teaspoon of honey (or your preferred sweetener) See additional resources here: https://www.restartmed.com/6-reasons-thyroid-patients-should-eat-chia-seeds/ Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? 5 Thyroid Boosting Fruits (EAT THESE!)

Wait, aren’t fruits harmful because they contain sugar?! Not by a long shot. Fruits are not only healthy for your entire body, they can also help support your thyroid gland. If you are someone with thyroid disease, or if you are just looking to support your thyroid to keep it healthy, this information is for you. Fruits work to help your overall health by providing a natural source of fiber, phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals, and polyphenols. These ingredients help your body fight of inflammation, protect your cells, help with weight loss, and so much more. When it comes to your thyroid, a few fruits stand above others. These include: 1. Blueberries. Packed full of nutrients, blueberries clock in at 85 calories per serving. These are low carb and have some of the best health benefits of any fruit. 2. Goji berries. Goji berries act as both a fruit and an adaptogen which means they can help with adrenal fatigue, vitality, and cortisol imbalance. 3. Avocados. This fruit is high in healthy fats which makes it unusual among those listed here. Healthy fats and fiber is the name of the game here. 4. Kiwis. These fruits contain huge amounts of vitamins and minerals in each serving beating out some of the more common fruits you know of. 5. Coconut. This high fat fruit is a great source of medium chain triglycerides which makes it ideal if weight gain is a problem for you. #thyroid #hypothyroidism #nutrition #fruits #plants #hashimoto #diet Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? The BEST And WORST Forms of Magnesium

Magnesium is incredibly important for cellular health as it is involved in over 300 different enzymatic reactions. When magnesium levels are low, you WILL feel it. This leads a lot of people to use supplements to replace low magnesium levels. But here’s the problem: When you go looking for magnesium supplements you will be met with a huge array of different types. And these types and formulations of magnesium are NOT all created equal. Let’s talk about the best types of magnesium so you can replace lost levels and manage symptoms like fatigue, insomnia, stress, anxiety, depression, and more. 1. Magnesium oxide. This is the cheapest and least effective form and should be avoided! 2. Magnesium citrate. This form is great for treating constipation. 3. Magnesium malate. This is a stimulating form of magnesium great for those with fatigue (don’t take it at night!). 4. Magnesium l-threonate. This form of magnesium crosses the blood-brain barrier and is ideal for treating conditions like depression. 5. Magnesium glycinate. This is one of the best all rounded forms for improving whole body magnesium. 6. Magnesium orotate. Magnesium orotate is ideal for improving athletic performance but it doesn’t treat constipation. 7. Fix your thyroid with more muscle mass

There are a lot of different ways that you can naturally improve how well your thyroid functions and this one is probably the most overlooked of them all: Managing your muscle mass. Your muscle mass is considered a thyroid-responsive tissue and represents around 30 to 40% of your body mass. Put another way, it may be one of the biggest targets of thyroid hormone action. The more muscle mass you have the more active your thyroid will be. On top of this, building more muscle mass has the potential to improve your weight, metabolism, and your thyroid all at the same time. Interested in building more muscle mass? Here’s how to do it: Inputs: Thyroid patients should focus on 3 inputs: diet, thyroid function, and supplements. For diet, you need to make sure that you are consuming enough high-quality protein at a rate of about 60 to 100 grams per day. Thyroid input refers to thyroid management in the form of thyroid medication or natural thyroid treatments. And supplements include additional treatments like creatine and protein powder which can make muscle building a lot easier and faster (they are not required, however). Outputs: The primary output needed to stimulate muscle growth is exercise in the form of strength training. By managing both inputs and outputs, you will turn your body into a muscle-building, calorie-burning, thyroid-optimized machine. Do GLP-1 Agonists Cause Thyroid Cancer? (Wegovy, Ozempic, Saxenda, Victoza)

GLP-1 agonists are a class of medications that everyone is talking about right now because of their beneficial effects on weight loss. And while they are effective at helping with weight loss, there have been multiple studies that suggest that there is a link between their use and the new onset of thyroid cancer. Let’s talk about this connection in more detail to see if it is something you should actually worry about. First off, where does this information come from? Studies like this one (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36356111/) suggest that there is indeed a real risk of thyroid cancer with long term use of GLP-1 agonists in diabetes. This study showed that there were about 2,500 new cases of thyroid cancer in a sample size of over 3.7 million. The incidence of thyroid cancer in these patients was small but still real. It’s important to note here that correlation does not equal causation but this is just adding to the pile of studies that suggest a link between these medications and thyroid cancer so it’s definitely something that should be thought about prior to using them. Given this information, is it still worth taking medications like Wegovy, semaglutide, saxenda, and victoza? In some situations, it may make sense but my recommendation is to always try to lose weight with diet and exercise first. If you are going to use these medications then do your best to use them in the short term for no more than 1 year. This will minimize the negative side effects while maximizing their benefits. My personal recommendation would still be to try other treatments like bioidentical hormone replacement therapy prior to using GLP-1 agonists. #weightloss #glp1 #weight #weightlosstips #obesity #thyroidcancer #thyroid Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? Track these instead of thyroid lab tests

Maintaining optimal thyroid function should be priority #1 for thyroid patients. Unfortunately, the standard methods doctors use to track thyroid function are not as accurate as you might think. The good news is that you don’t have to rely solely on these thyroid lab tests to determine your thyroid function. You can track other metrics on top of your thyroid lab tests which will give you very valuable information. Let’s talk about 5 metrics that every thyroid patient should start tracking right now: 1. Basal body temperature. Very few things impact your basal body temperature and your thyroid is one of those. By tracking this metric you can determine if your thyroid medication dose is sufficient. 2. Resting heart rate. Your resting heart rate is tied to your metabolism and both are under the regulation of your thyroid. 3. Cholesterol level. Thyroid function controls and regulates your cholesterol and you should see your levels drop as thyroid function increases. 4. Blood sugar level. Blood sugar is influenced by your thyroid and can help you determine if your thyroid is optimized (assuming your diet stays relatively constant). 5. Body composition. Thyroid function can cause rapid changes in your weight which are not always related to an increase in fat mass. For this reason, you want to keep an eye on your muscle mass and fat mass on top of the weight on the scale. #thyroid #hypothyroidism #hashimoto’s Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? ELIMINATE Thyroid Tired Eyes

Is your thyroid contributing to an overall look of fatigue or tiredness on your face? If so, you aren’t alone. And today I’m going to teach you how to get rid of this look so you that you can wake up feeling and looking refreshed. The stereotypical thyroid tired look comes from a variety of things including the impact that thyroid function can have on your face and eyes. Due to changes in your sleep and even changes in your facial shape from swelling, your thyroid can make you look chronically tired. The good news is that it doesn’t have to last forever and there are things you can do to fix it right up. Step 1. Get more sleep! Here are 3 tips to help you get more sleep: - Tape your mouth shut. - Set a bed time and protect it. - Allow your body to wake up naturally and get out of bed immediately upon waking up. - Step 4 (treat your thyroid but more on this later). Getting more sleep is ALWAYS important if you don’t want to look tired. Step 2. Do facial yoga. Facial yoga targets the muscles of facial expression and brings more blood flow and, thus, nutrients to your face. Doing this will help your muscles and face look more youthful. Step 3. Optimize thyroid function. Low thyroid function can contribute to problems like facial swelling and insomnia and even fatigue which all will contribute to your overall energy level and look. Your goal here is to normalize thyroid function with either the use of thyroid medications or natural treatments or both. Step 4. Take fish oil. Fish oil contains omega 3 fatty acids which have been shown to hydrate the skin and make it look healthier. Step 5. Use eye drops. Eye drops can help get rid of that red tired-eye look that comes when you don’t get enough sleep. You can take synthetic tears or use devices that stimulate the natural productions of tears. Step 6. Use Vitamin C serum. A high quality vitamin C serum can help you lighten, tighten, and brighten the skin which will provide you with a more fresh and youthful appearance. #thyroid #thyroidsymptoms #fatigue #tired #tiredeyes #hypothyroidism #thyroidproblems #thyroidawareness Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? The BEST & CLEANEST Thyroid Medications

I probably don’t need to convince you that not all thyroid medications are created equal. If you’ve been a thyroid patient for any length of time then you know that there are some thyroid medications that just seem to work better than others. The question is why? There are several reasons for this but one of the main reasons has to do with the inactive ingredients. Every single thyroid medication contains similar active ingredients but they differ dramatically in their inactive ingredients. And it is these inactive ingredients that can cause a lot of issues for patients. Here are the BEST and CLEANEST thyroid medications on the market by thyroid medication class: The cleanest T4-only thyroid medications: Tirosint Tirosint-sol The cleanest T3-only thyroid medications: Sustained release T3 (SR T3) The cleanest NDT thyroid medications: NP Thyroid by a slight margin (WP thyroid be the best if it were available) #thyroidmedication #thyroidmedicine #levothyroxine #thyroidawareness #thyroidproblems #hypothyroidism Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? The Benefits of Berberine (Weight Loss, Blood Sugar & More)

Berberine is one of my favorite supplements out there and has been for several years. The reason is simple: berberine helps treat the biggest and most important conditions that people face including weight gain, insulin resistance, and gut dysfunction. It’s not only healthy for people who are already healthy, but it’s also amazing for people who want to stay healthy! You can use it to assist with weight loss, balance your blood sugar, build more muscle mass, or just optimize your physique. Let’s talk about the benefits of berberine and why you can make a strong case to use it. Many of the benefits we are going to be discussing today stem from Berberine’s ability to increase something called AMPK or AMP kinase. This is the same enzyme that is increased when you exercise. So when you think about the benefits, think about berberine as a tiny bottle of exercise. It doesn’t replace exercise but it’s helpful to wrap your head around how it’s working. Activating AMPK increases fat burning potential, mitochondrial proliferation in muscle tissue, insulin sensitivity, and much more. With this in mind, let’s talk about the benefits: 1. Berberine can help improve insulin resistance and low blood sugar. It has been shown to be as powerful as some medications at lowering blood sugar (metformin). 2. Berberine can help you lose weight. Berberine enhances the effectiveness of diet and exercise. 3. Berberine can help improve your gut health. Berberine increases butyrate production and reduces local inflammation in the gut. 4. Berberine can help lower cholesterol. Some studies show that berberine can reduce cholesterol more effectively than statins. 5. Berberine helps treat metabolic disorders like non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, type II diabetes, PCOS, high blood pressure, obesity, and elevated triglycerides. 6. Berberine can help your brain stay healthy. For everyday general health, use around 500 to 1,000 mg each day. For metabolic conditions use 1,000 to 2,000 mg each day #berberine #nutrition #weightloss #highcholesterol #diabetes #insulinresistance #supplements #naturaltreatment Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? Avoid artificial sweeteners if you have Hashimoto’s

Is there a connection between the use of artificial sweeteners and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis? Well, there’s at least one case study that showed an interesting connection: One woman was able to completely put her Hashimoto’s into remission by doing one thing: avoid artificial sweeteners. Does this mean that the use of these compounds cause Hashimoto’s or that they should be avoided by everyone? It doesn’t. But it does suggest that removing them from your diet is a VERY good idea if you have this condition for the following reasons: 1. There are very few treatments available for patients with Hashimoto’s so you might as well take advantage of the few that exist. 2. You won’t cause any harm by removing them from your diet. 3. The use of artificial sweeteners has been linked to other health problems in humans and animals. 4. There’s no need to consume artificial sweeteners given that there are more natural low-calorie sweet options available. 5. There are other, better ways for patients with Hashimoto’s to lose weight! Probiotics That FIX Hashimoto’s (3 Species That WORK)

Improving your gut health is one of the most important things you can do as a patient with Hashimoto’s. Targeting your gut can increase T4 to T3 conversion thereby providing your body with more T3, it can improve thyroid medication absorption, it can reduce inflammation, help you lose weight, and improve your overall health. Targeting your gut is a no-brainer and one of the easiest ways to do this is with the use of probiotics. But which probiotics are best? That’s exactly what we are going to be talking about today. #1. Soil-based organisms. These probiotic species come from the ground and we are no longer exposed to them due to the fact that we no longer drink well water and due to changes in our farming techniques. Soil based organisms have been shown to populate the intestinal tract which means they provide long-term benefit, they are long-lasting, they are heat stable, they can be used to treat conditions like SIBO, gas, distention, bloating, and more. Strains to look for: Bacillus coagulans, bacillus subtilis, bacillus clausii How much to use? 5-10 billion CFU. #2. Beneficial yeast. They are not the same as bakers yeast or candida. They don’t populate the gut like SBOs but they can help your body produce more immunoglobulins in the form of IgA. Stop Taking High Dose Iodine (It’s Harmful)

Thinking about using high-dose iodine to "help" your thyroid? Think again. I can’t think of many good reasons to use high-dose iodine for one simple reason: The benefits don’t outweigh the risks. Are there benefits to using high-dose iodine? Sure, but those benefits can be obtained using other, less dangerous, therapies and treatments. Some people disagree with this idea by suggesting that high-dose iodine is not only beneficial but necessary. Let’s break apart their arguments to see if they hold water: Argument #1. High-Dose Iodine is Safe Because The Japanese Population Consumes 12.5 mg Per Day. This may be appealing if it were true, but it’s not. Data from the Japanese government shows that the Japanese consume, on average, 1 to 3 mg per day. Argument #2. High-Dose Iodine Helps Detoxify Harmful Compounds (Halogens). There is some truth to this argument but you don’t need high doses of iodine to detox out halogens from your body. You can do this with chloride and low doses of iodine. Argument #3. High-Dose Iodine Does Not Cause Autoimmune Thyroid Disease. There is a clear connection between increasing iodine intake and the onset of autoimmune thyroid disease that has been confirmed by multiple studies. How much iodine should you take each day? The ideal dose is 150 to 300 mcg per day from all sources. It’s probably safe to increase your dose up to 1 to 3 mg per day at the most, based on available data, but there will be some risks associated with these higher doses so proceed with caution. Based on the data, and my experience, staying in the 150 mcg to 300 mcg per day range provides the most benefit without any side effects. How to Increase T4 Levels Naturally (WITHOUT Medication)

T4 is the most abundant thyroid hormone in the body by far. Roughly 80% of all thyroid hormone floating around in your body right now is in the form of T4. It may not be the most powerful, but it’s obviously very important to thyroid hormone regulation because your body can draw upon your T4 store to create various types of thyroid hormone as needed. If you are someone who is trying to optimize your thyroid function for better health or because you have hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s, you should find this information on how to increase your T4 levels naturally very helpful: 1. Diet: Look for foods that are high in iron, tyrosine, and iodine as all 3 of these nutrients are needed for thyroid hormone production. #2. Food volume: Not only are the type of foods that you eat important but also the quantity or volume of food that you eat. Avoid calorie restricted diets if you are trying to increase your T4 level. You may paradoxically see an increase in T4 temporarily but this comes at the cost of low T3 which is not ideal. #3. Thyroid glandulars: Certain supplements, like thyroid glandulars, may help provide the building blocks that your body needs for T4. #4. Avoid alcohol: Alcohol is shown to be toxic to thyroid cells and even blunts the response of TSH from TRH. #5. Get more sleep & avoid stress: Both sleep and stress are needed for T4 production. Getting less than 7 hours each night is enough to see a decline in T4 levels. #6. Increase your intake of essentials fats and omega-3 fatty acids: Supplementation with vitamin D and omega 3 fatty acids may reduce your risk of Hashimoto’s by 22%. #7. Exercise: Exercise at 70% of your maximal heart rate has shown to have a positive impact on T4 levels and thyroid function more generally. Intensity is key 70% of maximal heart rate. While T4 is incredibly important so is T3. 8 Medical Conditions That Mimic Hypothyroidism

You might have heard me say before that if your doctor is trying to convince you that your thyroid symptoms are from something other than your thyroid, then it’s time to see another doctor. While that is very often the case, there are absolutely other medical conditions that can mimic hypothyroid symptoms. These medical conditions can cause symptoms that are so close to that of hypothyroidism, that it’s actually really easy to confuse the two. The good news is that there are slight differences between these conditions and it is possible to tell them apart. But in order to do that, you have to be aware that they exist! Here are 8 different medical conditions that cause symptoms that are almost identical to that of hypothyroidism: 1. Hyperparathyroidism 2. Anemia and low ferritin. 3. Sleep apnea. 4. Menopause and perimenopause. 5. Fatty liver. 6. Adrenal fatigue. 7. Fibromyalgia. 8. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies. One of the BEST ways to tell these conditions apart is by getting a complete set of thyroid lab tests. Check out this video next if you want to see what lab tests are needed: https://youtu.be/xjvdJ95AU7E Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? How Much Iodine Should You Take Each Day?

Iodine is critical for overall health, especially thyroid health. But the question is, how much should you be getting each day? This is an incredibly contentious topic because everyone seems to have a different opinion. What I’m going to do today is break down iodine dosing in a simple and easy-to-understand way so you understand how much you should be taking to minimize negative outcomes while maximizing positive ones. When you look at the RDA for iodine you’ll see that the recommended dosing should be between 150 and 270 (~300) mcg per day depending on whether or not you are a lactating woman or a pregnant woman. Those who are lactating or pregnant require more than the average adult because they need to make up for what a developing child needs. What happens when you don’t get enough iodine? You will end up with a goiter and hypothyroidism which is not ideal. What happens when you get too much? You increase your risk of developing autoimmune thyroid disease like Hashimoto’s and Graves’ disease. How can you prevent these conditions? By sticking to the optimal range of 150 to 300mcg per day of total iodine intake. This number takes into account your total iodine intake from ALL sources so make sure you account for hidden sources of iodine when determining your total intake. Hidden sources of iodine include beauty products, foods, supplements, and medications. If your total iodine intake is too high then you may benefit from temporarily reducing your iodine intake to metabolize the extra iodine out of your body. #iodine #nutrientdeficiencies #nutrition #thyroid #goiter #hypothyroidism #hashimoto #graves Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? Why Thyroid Patients Need Vitamin K2

Vitamin K2 is a fat-soluble vitamin that provides benefits that just about every thyroid patient wants. Unlike vitamin K1, vitamin K2 has a much more broad-reaching impact on multiple systems in the body including calcium regulation, cancer prevention, hormone balance, and more. And unlike vitamin K1, vitamin K2 is more difficult to get and not as well known. This presents an awesome opportunity for thyroid patients to take more of this vitamin to get the benefits that it provides. Some benefits of vitamin K2 use include: 1. It balances calcium levels in the body. Vitamin K2 helps put calcium where you want it and keeps it from places that you don’t. This means it helps direct calcium away from your arteries and into your bones and teeth. It works perfectly with vitamin D. 2. It helps strengthen your bones and prevents pre-mature bone loss. Vitamin K2 also helps to prevent pre-mature bone loss which is a condition that thyroid patients suffer from! Whether you have hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, your bones will suffer. 3. It has anti-cancer actions. Finally, thyroid patients are at increased risk for developing cancer whether that be from the use of levothyroxine or from thyroid dysfunction. For this reason, paying attention to your personal cancer risk is important if you have thyroid disease. There are two types of vitamin K2 including MK4 and MK7. MK4 is better for supporting sex hormones and providing anti-cancer benefits while MK7 is better for supporting bone health. Don’t confuse vitamin K1 with vitamin K2 as they are completely different compounds! Hypothyroidism Diet Tips (FIX Your Thyroid With Food)

No matter how you look at it, your diet has the ability to negatively or positively impact thyroid function. Today I want to talk about what type of changes you can make to the foods that you eat to improve your thyroid if you have hypothyroidism. These tips and tricks will help your thyroid function more optimally so that you can not only produce enough thyroid hormone but also convert that thyroid hormone into its most active form. These tips are primarily targeted at those with hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, low thyroid, and a sluggish thyroid. Tip 1: Find a whole food-based diet and stick to it for at least 90 days. It doesn’t really matter which diet you use but here are some of my favorites and some that I have personally recommended to thyroid patients in the past: whole30, elimination diet, keto, carnivore, paleo, AIP, and gluten-free/dairy-free/soy-free. Tip 2: Avoid calorie-restricted diets. It may be tempting to reduce your calories if you are trying to lose weight but it can be damaging to your thyroid if you do. Instead of using sustained and daily calorie restriction, focus more on intermittent and prolonged fasts. Tip 3. Eat to reduce inflammation. Foods can either be pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory in nature and you should focus on foods that reduce inflammation rather than promote it. Foods to eat include fruits, vegetables, non-processed healthy oils, fish, nuts, and seeds. Foods to eliminate include dairy, gluten, processed foods, seed oils, foods that personally trigger you, coffee, soy, and excessive amounts of goitrogens. Tip 4. Eat to increase certain nutrients. Thyroid patients have a higher demand for certain nutrients than the average population and you should focus on foods that are rich in the following: Zinc - oysters, beef Magnesium - pumpkin seeds and chia seeds Selenium - brazil nuts and tuna Iron - red meat or nuts Tyrosine - animal sources of protein Iodine - fish, yogurt Tip 5. Finally, realize that you may need more than just dietary changes. Things like exercise, the use of supplements, getting enough sleep, and stress management are all important as well. #thyroid #thyroiddiet #thyroiddietplan #thyroidweightloss #hypothyroidism #hashimoto #thyroidproblems Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? These Armour Thyroid Ingredients Will Surprise You

Armour thyroid is one of the most popular natural desiccated thyroid medications on the market. For that reason, we are going to be taking a close look at both the inactive and inactive ingredients found inside of this thyroid medication to see what it’s actually made of. I plan to do this for all thyroid medications and if you’d like to see my previous video on levothyroxine ingredients you can find that here: When it comes to active ingredients, Armour thyroid contains the following: Standardized doses of T4 and T3 and non-standardized doses of T2, T1 (probably), and calcitonin. These are active hormones found inside of this medication. A non-standardized dose just means that it’s probably found in there but they don’t ensure any sort of level between lots. The inactive ingredients include calcium stearate, dextrose, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, and opadry white. If you are having issues with Armour thyroid it is almost certainly due to the inactive ingredients as opposed to the active ingredients and the problem can usually be solved by simply switching to a different version of NDT. Aside from Armour, you can also look into NP thyroid as well as Adthyza which is a relatively new NDT medication. #hypothyroidism #hypothyroid #thyroid #thyroidtreatment #thyroidmedication Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? Is Hashimoto’s Fatal? (The Answer May Surprise You)

Is Hashimoto’s considered a fatal disease? Technically, yes, but the reality is that most people will not die directly from Hashimoto’s. In order for this to happen you must neglect your health and thyroid for decades which is very unlikely to happen in developed countries like the United States. But does that mean you are free from risk if you have Hashimoto’s? Not at all. We know from twin studies that patients with hypothyroidism have a 50% increased risk of mortality compared to the average population and we also know that Hashimoto’s leads to hypothyroidism so this risk is likely relevant to patients with autoimmune thyroid disease as well. But what causes this risk? It’s not from the thyroid itself but from comorbidities that are associated with hypothyroidism. These conditions include: 1. An increase in cancer risk. 2. An increase in cardiovascular disease. 3. And an increased risk of obesity which leads to metabolic syndrome, diabetes, hypertension, stroke, and insulin resistance. This may sound daunting but there’s some really good news here: You don’t have to accept this risk because you can completely bring your risk back to normal by optimizing thyroid function. You can do this either by taking thyroid medication or by using natural therapies. #thyroid #hypothyroidism #hashimoto #hashimotosthyroiditis #hashimotosdisease #hashis #mortality Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? How to Prevent Hashimoto’s (The Genetics Connection)

Is Hashimoto’s a genetic condition? The short answer is yes but what’s key here is that just because you may have the underlying genetics associated with developing Hashimoto’s doesn’t guarantee that that the disease state will manifest in your body. And this is key. Understanding this genetic component will allow you to live your life in such a way as to avoid certain factors which have the potential to trigger Hashimoto’s. This means you can either a) prevent Hashimoto’s or b) treat your condition upstream if it’s already present. The genes and endogenous factors associated with Hashimoto’s include: - HLA class DR3 and DR5 (there are many others but these are most common) - CTLA4 receptor - PTN22 - Female sex - Pregnancy - Skewed X Chromosome inactivation These by themselves are not enough to trigger the disease, though, as they must be combined with exogenous or environmental factors as well. The environmental factors that trigger these genes include: - High-dose iodine exposure - Infections - Cytokines - Environmental toxicants like EDCs, heavy metals, and radiation The key here is not to focus on your genes because you can’t change those but to instead focus on what sort of things you put your body into contact with. By controlling these environmental factors you can actually influence your risk of developing Hashimoto’s in a positive way. #hashimoto #hashimotosthyroiditis #hashimotosdisease #hashimotos #thyroid #hypothyroidism #genetics Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? Levothyroxine Ingredients: These May Surprise You

Ever wonder what is actually in levothyroxine? This medication is one of the most prescribed medications in the United States and yet so many people have no idea what they are actually consuming every day. Understanding what’s in this medication is important because some of the ingredients may be causing you problems. When it comes to thyroid medications there are two types of ingredients you should be aware of: 1. Active ingredients And 2. Inactive ingredients The active ingredients are usually not the problem for most thyroid patients because this component is dose dependent. You are either taking enough or you aren’t. But this isn’t true for the inactive ingredients. These ingredients can cause hypersensitivity reactions regardless of the dose and may lead to a host of symptoms. The active ingredients found in levothyroxine include: thyroxine. The inactive ingredients include: magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal silicone dioxide, sodium starch glycolate, and color additives depending on the strength and dose you are taking. If you are not doing well on your thyroid medication then take a look at these ingredients and see if they are causing issues. If they are, you may benefit from switching to a cleaner thyroid medication like Tirosint. #thyroid #hypothyroidism #hashimoto #thyroidproblems #thyroidmedication #thyroidtreatment #thyroidawareness Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? The DANGERS Of Thyroid Antibodies (They Hurt More Than Your Thyroid)

Many thyroid patients with autoimmune thyroid disease like Hashimoto’s and Graves’ don’t realize this but the antibodies that cause thyroid problems (that are associated with these disease states) also cause problems in other tissues in your body. These antibodies are like heat-seeking missiles that target various proteins and receptors in your thyroid gland which results in abnormalities in thyroid function as well as thyroid gland damage. We are also learning that these antibodies can cause harm and damage to other tissues as well depending on which antibody you have present in your body. Let’s go over each antibody and the problems they can cause: Thyroid peroxidase antibody: - Hashimoto’s encephalitis - Infertility - Vasculo-placental complications - Health in aged women - Increased cancer incidence in breast, colon, kidney, and uterus - Decreased survival rate in breast cancer patients Thyroglobulin antibody: - Infertility - Increased cancer incidence of breast, colon, kidney, and uterus - Decreased survival rate in breast cancer patients Thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody: - Graves’ orbitopathy - Graves’ dermatopathy - Increased cancer incidence of breast, colon, kidney, uterus, and ovary #hashimoto #hashimotosthyroiditis #hashimotosdisease #graves #gravesdisease #hypothyroidism #hyperthyroidism #thyroid Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? Signs You Can Stop Taking Thyroid Medication

Early research suggests that up to 30% of thyroid patients currently taking thyroid medication may not need it. That’s great and all but what does that mean for you? How can you tell if you are in that lucky 30%? Well, if you’ve ever wondered about that I’ve got some good news for you: We have some signs that, if present, indicate that you have a higher likelihood of getting off of your thyroid medication. In addition to these positive signs, we also have some negative ones as well and today I’m going to go over both. Before we jump in, you should be aware that this data is still emerging so it’s subject to change as we get more information. If it does change then you can bet I will provide you with that updated information but, for now, this is what we have. These positive signs indicate you have a higher likelihood of getting off and staying off of thyroid medication: - If you’ve been using thyroid medication for less than 4 years. - If you had a normal free T4 on diagnosis. - If your current TSH is less than 1.8. - If you are taking a low dose of thyroid medication (usually less than 50 mcg). - If you are a woman (women are 2x more likely to get off their thyroid medication). These are unfavorable signs: - If you have a heterogenous thyroid on ultrasound. - If you have positive thyroid peroxidase antibodies with diffuse echogenicity on thyroid ultrasound. - If your TSH was greater than 8 at the time of diagnosis. - If your treated TSH is greater than 9. - If you were diagnosed at a young age. - If you had a positive thyroglobulin antibody level at the time of diagnosis. The presence or absence of any of these signs doesn’t guarantee anything so don’t get discouraged if you have a lot of negative signs and few positive signs. #thyroid #thyroidmedication #levothyroxine #synthroid #thyroidproblems #hashimoto #hashimotosthyroiditis #hashimotosdisease Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? 7 Reversible Causes of Hypothyroidism

Contrary to popular belief, hypothyroidism doesn’t have to be a disease that lasts forever. While there certainly are irreversible causes of hypothyroidism there are also plenty of reversible causes as well. And today I want to focus on just that: Reversible causes of hypothyroidism. If any of these underlying causes of hypothyroidism have caused your thyroid disease then there is hope that you may be able to get off of your thyroid medication! And that’s why understanding this information is so important. With that in mind, let’s jump in: 1. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis: Hashimoto’s can cause both a reversible and irreversible hypothyroid state, depending on the severity of the disease. 2. Stress: Stress can cause a time-limited hypothyroid state that typically returns to normal after a few months to years. 3. Acute and chronic illness: Both acute and chronic illness can result in a euthyroid sick syndrome which makes you look hypothyroid but resolves once the illness has resolved. 4. Iodine deficiency: Iodine deficiency causes hypothyroidism that resolves with iodine supplementation. 5. Dieting and calorie restriction: Both calorie restriction and dieting can cause changes in thyroid lab tests which look like hypothyroidism. These lab changes resolve after a few years, typically. 6. Prescription medications: Many prescription medications can cause hypothyroidism including lithium and amiodarone. 7. Other nutrient deficiencies: Deficiencies in vitamin A, iron, selenium, and zinc can all lead to decreased thyroid function and may cause full-blown hypothyroidism. #hypothyroidism #thyroid #hashimoto #thyroidtreatment #thyroidawareness #hashimotosthyroiditis #hashimotosdisease #thyroidtreatment Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? 4 Reasons Thyroid Diseases Are So Common Now

Does it feel like everyone is getting thyroid disease right now? When you look at the numbers, it’s clear that the amount of people getting diagnosed with thyroid diseases like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and hypothyroidism is increasing. The question is why? Well, no one knows for sure but I have some ideas as to why this might be the case. Let’s take a look at what conventional doctors say about this very problem and what my opinion is and why they differ. Here are some potential reasons why thyroid disease is increasing and becoming more common: 1. Better diagnostic testing: Whenever you look at increasing numbers of something you always need to consider the fact that technology and better testing may account for that increase. In the case of thyroid disease, it’s probably not the case that better and more advanced testing is the cause here because most doctors still use the TSH. 2. More patient awareness: There’s no question that patient awareness is playing a role but the role is probably not as big as you might think. That’s because doctors are still hesitant and reluctant to use the right tests to diagnose thyroid disease. 3. Higher levels of baseline stress among the population: The thyroid gland is very sensitive to stress and we know that people have more negative experiences now than they did previously. 4. A higher toxic burden owing to endocrine disruptor exposure: The thyroid gland is also very sensitive to chemicals called endocrine disruptors. As these build up in your system, there’s no doubt that they can impact thyroid function. 5. General weight gain among the population along with an unhealthy lifestyle that is becoming more common: This is probably the biggest factor of all. Not getting enough sleep, not exercising, experiencing too much stress, and eating processed foods can all slow down thyroid function. #thyroid #hypothyroidism #thyroidtreatment #thyroidawareness #hashimoto #thyroiddisease Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? Hashimoto’s Facts That I Wish Every Thyroid Patient Knew

I’ve been helping patients with Hashimoto’s for a long time and throughout that time I’ve seen a lot of bad information, misinformation, and just plain wrong information. What I want to do today is just set the record straight. Here are 4 things that I wish every patient with Hashimoto’s knew either early on in their diagnosis or right when they were diagnosed. Understanding these facts will help shape your understanding of your disease and better help you navigate the world you are about to step into. Without further ado, here they are: The first fact: If left untreated, Hashimoto’s will result in thyroid gland atrophy. Atrophy just means that it shrinks and once it gets to this point, it’s no longer functional. Your goal should be to prevent this from happening. The second fact: You can put your Hashimoto’s into remission but curing Hashimoto’s isn’t really possible. Curing implies that the disease goes away forever which isn’t usually the case. Remission is a better term because it means you can 100% manage your symptoms and bring your thyroid antibodies down to a normal level. Again, this should always be your goal. The third fact: You don’t always need thyroid medication if you have Hashimoto’s. Mild cases of Hashimoto’s can often be treated with just natural treatments like diet, lifestyle changes, and even supplements. More advanced cases may require thyroid medications like levothyroxine and Synthroid. The fourth fact: Hashimoto’s has the potential to cause both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism but most patients will end up hypothyroid. #hashimoto #hashimotosthyroiditis #hashimotos #hashimotosdisease #thyroid #hypothyroidism Download my free thyroid resources here (including hypothyroid symptoms checklist, the complete list of thyroid lab tests + optimal ranges, foods you should avoid if you have thyroid disease, and more): https://www.restartmed.com/start-here/ Recommended thyroid supplements to enhance thyroid function: - Supplements that everyone with hypothyroidism needs: https://bit.ly/3tekPej - Supplement bundle to help reverse Hashimoto’s: https://bit.ly/3gSY9eJ - Supplements for those without a thyroid and for those after RAI: https://bit.ly/3tb36nZ - Supplements for active hyperthyroidism: https://bit.ly/3t70yHo See ALL of my specialized supplements including protein powders, thyroid supplements, and weight loss products here: https://www.restartmed.com/shop/ Want more from my blog? How to Test for Thyroid Conversion Problems (Order These Tests)

Thyroid conversion is one of the most important aspects of thyroid function that thyroid patients need to be aware of. Thyroid conversion refers to the ability that your body has to take inactive thyroid hormone and turn it into active T3 thyroid hormone. Throughout your time as a thyroid patient, you may have heard others mention that they have issues with thyroid conversion. Have you ever wondered how these people know? There are a few ways to find this information and today we are going to be talking about how to test for this problem. Before I do, let’s talk about some facts as it relates to your thyroid, T4, and T3: Fact #1. T3 thyroid hormone is by far the single most important thyroid hormone in your body. It is roughly 300 times more biologically active than T4 thyroid hormone. Fact #2. Most thyroid hormone produced by your body is NOT T3 but is actually T4. Fact #3. Only 20% of T3 in your body is directly produced by the thyroid gland. Fact #4. Roughly 80% of T3 is created through peripheral thyroid conversion in various tissues in your body. Fact #5. Doctors know that this conversion process occurs and is important but pay NO attention to the process as they assume that it is always occurring. Fact #6. There are several KNOWN issues that slow down or inhibit this conversion process including genetic factors that are outside of your control. These facts are important because they lay the groundwork for why we need the tests that we need and why so many thyroid patients miss thyroid conversion issues. When it comes to testing for thyroid conversion there are 2 sets of labs that you should be aware of. The first is the required lab tests which include: - Free T3 - Free T4 - Reverse T3 And the second is the optional but highly recommended set of labs which include: - SHBG - Total T3 - TSH You don’t have to get the optional lab tests but they are highly recommended. Once you get your labs you can look for patterns which help you understand if you have a thyroid conversion problem. Some of the more common patterns include: #1. High free T4 and low free T3 #2. Low free T4 and low free T3 #3. High reverse T3 #4. Low to normal TSH with symptoms of hypothyroidism All 4 of these patterns can be associated with thyroid conversion issues. Create Your Own Natural Desiccated Thyroid Blend in 4 Steps

Did you know that with the clever use of some over-the-counter supplements and one prescription medication you can re-create all of the benefits found in natural desiccated thyroid hormone formulas? Doing this allows you to make whatever thyroid medication you are using even more effective by mimicking what makes NDT so great. Why is this important? Because when Nature-throid and WP Thyroid were removed from the market, there were a ton of thyroid patients who started doing poorly when they were transitioned over. In addition, we have a ton of thyroid patients using levothyroxine who are still experiencing low thyroid symptoms. The tips and tricks I’m about to share assume that you are starting with a levothyroxine base but all of these tricks can be applied to any thyroid medication including NDT and T3 formulations. Step #1. Add a thyroid glandular. Using a thyroid glandular allows to benefit from the proteins, enzymes, and pro-hormones naturally found in NDT. Step #2. Add T2 thyroid hormone. NDT contains a small amount of T2 thyroid hormone which you can get in supplement form. Step #3. Add T3 thyroid hormone. NDT contains both T4 and T3 thyroid hormone which means you’ll need to add T3 to your base of levothyroxine to mimic it. (Optional) Step #4. Add an iodine supplement. NDT contains about 130mcg of iodine per grain so if you are trying to re-create NDT you will want to take this iodine component into account. You can get thyroid glandulars and iodine here: https://www.restartmed.com/product/thyroid-glandular-plus/ You can get T2 here: https://www.restartmed.com/product/essential-t2/ T3 you will need to get from your doctor. BRAND NEW Thyroid Medication: Adthyza | Should you use it?

Adthyza is a relatively new thyroid medication that was released within the last 1-2 years. I say new because that’s still pretty new in the grand scheme of things especially when it’s so rare to see a new thyroid medication. *note: I am not paid by Adthyza or any pharmaceutical company! I don’t even have a very favorable opinion of this medication and I’m just sharing what I think. How does Adthyza compare to other thyroid medications? Let’s discuss: First, you should know that Adthyza is a porcine derived thyroid medication which means it falls into the family of natural desiccated thyroid hormone. This means it should be compared to medications like Armour thyroid and NP thyroid. Adthyza contains a combination of T4 and T3 thyroid hormone and markets itself as a sort of cleaner option compared to what’s available. According to their own website, Adthyza claims to be lactose, gluten, corn, dye, and latex free. While you can consider this to be low allergen, I don’t think you can consider it to be very clean as both NP thyroid and armour thyroid have fewer total fillers. Adthyza contains 6 inactive fillers and both NP thyroid and armour thyroid contain 4. Having said that, I still think having another option is great for thyroid patients because it means that if you’ve tried and failed both armour and NP thyroid, you still have some other options. I also like the fact that Adthyza is trying to build more transparency by allowing you to look up the concentration of each dose based on lot. This is no doubt in response to the recent issues that thyroid medications have had to super potent and sub potent lots. All in all, Adthyza is a step in the right direction but ultimately fails to meet the needs of thyroid patients. Most thyroid patients probably don’t need to switch over to it unless they aren’t doing well on their current regimen. 6 Neck Exercises for Your Thyroid Gland

Can certain exercises help your thyroid gland function? Not in a direct way but perhaps in an indirect way! And that’s exactly what these neck exercises are designed to do. You can indirectly support thyroid function by exercising your neck which can help in a number of different ways: #1. Neck exercises can help improve blood flow to the area of your neck. Working out the muscles in your neck will increase blood flow to the musculature itself. Your thyroid will benefit due to its proximity to these muscles. #2. Neck exercises help improve venous outflow out of your thyroid gland. Bringing new blood into your neck will mean blood must flow out of it! #3. Neck exercises can help improve lymphatic flow OUT of your neck. The lymphatic system is designed to help carry waste products away from your cells so your body can eliminate them. Exercising muscles is known to improve this system. #4. Neck exercises can bring balance to the musculature of the neck and help with things like tension headaches, trigger points, and neck pain. The following 6 neck exercises (as demonstrated in the video) can be used each day to indirectly benefit your thyroid gland. Each exercise should be used for 30 seconds one after another for a total of 3 minutes. I’ve named the exercises but you should check out the video demonstration so you can see how they are performed. The 6 exercises include: #1. The up down. #2. The side to side. #3. Shake your head no. #4. Forward head pulse. #5. Horizontal head slide. #6. Around the world. Give these neck exercises a try to see if you can improve your posture, improve blood flow to your head and neck, and indirectly support your thyroid! Does Levothyroxine Cause Cancer? Study of Over 600,000 Thyroid Patients Explained

A new study of over 600,000 thyroid patients from Taiwan suggested that thyroid patients taking levothyroxine have a 50% increased risk of developing cancer at any site. While concerning, the results of this study certainly do not prove that levothyroxine causes cancer but every thyroid patient taking levothyroxine should be aware of this potential connection. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/cas.14908 This information is not meant to cause fear or alarm but to simply break down this study, explain some of the issues with the study, and some of the key takeaways. Let’s start with the problems first: #1. The study was retrospective. Retrospective studies look backward in time at existing data and can show a correlation between things but do not necessarily prove causation. This is very important because many thyroid patients suffer from conditions that can also increase cancer risk and these must be taken into account. #2. More research is still needed before any definitive conclusion is made. This is only one study and before any claim can be definitely made, there must be other studies that account for the issues listed above. #3. We don’t have information on other thyroid medications. This study only took into account levothyroxine and didn’t account for other thyroid medications that may be better for thyroid management such as NDT formulations. #4. Even though levothyroxine is synthetic, it is still bioidentical. The fact that levothyroxine is body identical or bioidentical is good because it means it’s less likely to result in cancer. Bioidentical hormones can impact cancer risk but typically only if they are dosed incorrectly (either too much or too little). Some key takeaways and lessons from this study include: #1. Don’t take thyroid medication unless you need it! I have many articles and videos which can help you determine if you are someone that may be able to get off of their thyroid medication. #2. It may be difficult for some thyroid patients to get thyroid medication from here on out. This can be both a good and a bad thing. #3. Instead of getting worried about what thyroid medication you are taking, focus more on the dose of that medication. Focus more on optimizing your free thyroid hormone levels as that will probably have the biggest impact on your risk of cancer. #4. Even if you can’t control your thyroid medication you can still control other factors which can influence your own personal risk of cancer. Eating healthy whole foods, avoiding alcohol, exercising regularly, avoiding smoking, and so on can all impact your cancer risk. Signs Your Thyroid Medication is Too Low

Do you feel like your thyroid medication just isn’t working as it should? Do you still have symptoms of low thyroid even though you are taking your thyroid medication faithfully? It could be that your dose is just not high enough and that you need to increase it. This problem is actually more common than you might think. It’s been estimated that as many as 25-30% of thyroid patients may be taking too much thyroid medication at any given time. We don’t know the numbers for how many people are not taking enough but it’s probably safe to assume that it’s at least equal to the number of people taking too much. This promotes a big problem for thyroid patients because you simply won’t feel better if your dose is not sufficient. The good news? There are ways to determine just based on your symptoms if your dose is too low. Let’s talk about those right now. Signs that your thyroid medication dose is too low include: #1. Gaining weight despite taking your thyroid medication every day #2. Fatigue that is getting worse or doesn’t get better #3. Hair loss that either gets worse or persists #4. Continued constipation (may get slightly better or worse) #5. Cold intolerance that persists #6. Continued menstrual problems (may also get worse with some thyroid medication) #7. Depression and/or anxiety that persists or get worse #8. Pain in the joints/muscles #9. Dry skin Do you feel that your dose of thyroid medication is optimized? Or do you think it needs to be adjusted? Should You Massage Your Thyroid Gland?

Thyroid gland massage is something that has gained momentum and attention lately. And when I talk about thyroid gland massage I am not talking about massage therapy for your thyroid gland. I’m talking about actual massage of the thyroid gland itself. Why are some people considering thyroid gland massage as a treatment for hypothyroidism? Well, the reason is as follows: Because the thyroid gland is almost a spongy-like material and because it has some storage capacity of thyroid hormone, massaging the thyroid gland may release thyroid hormone and alleviate or improve low thyroid symptoms. It sounds good in theory but there are several reasons why I do not recommend that you massage your thyroid gland. Here are the biggest reasons: #1. You may cause inflammation and make matters much worse. The number 1 cause of hypothyroidism in the US is Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. The hallmark of Hashimoto’s is inflammation and immune cell infiltration of the thyroid gland. Do you know what happens when you physically touch or palpate inflamed tissue? It gets worse! Massaging a gland with Hashimoto’s may make your condition worse and should be avoided. #2. There’s no way to know how much thyroid hormone you are releasing when you massage the thyroid gland. Even if it was a good idea to massage your gland to release thyroid hormone, there’s no way to know how much hormone you are releasing. In other words, you are just as likely to make yourself hyperthyroid as you are to feel yourself feel better. Having said all of that, there are still things that you CAN do instead of thyroid gland massage that can be helpful: #1. Massage therapy of the body and especially the head and neck. #2. Neck exercises to balance musculature in the neck area. #3. Chiropractic work or osteopathic therapy. #4. Lymphatic work. #5. Trigger point injection therapy. These options can all be used in place of thyroid gland massage and can help improve thyroid function by improving the muscles and tissues that surround the thyroid gland. 10 Gut Problems Associated With Thyroid Disease

Did you know that your gut and your thyroid are connected? If you have a problem with one you will almost always have a problem with the other. Your thyroid helps to control how quickly your gut moves and how much stomach acid you produce. When your thyroid is low it slows down how quickly your intestines move and lowers how much stomach acid you produce. The result? Constipation, overgrowth of bacteria, acid reflux, and a reduction in absorption of key nutrients. The relationship between your thyroid and your gut is more complicated than this, though, as gut problems can also lead to thyroid problems. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out which came first which is why treating your gut is always a great idea. Here is a list of 10 gut issues that thyroid patients frequently suffer from: #1. Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. #2. Small intestinal fungal overgrowth. #3. GERD or acid reflux. #4. Decreased kinetic bowel movement or gastroparesis. #5. Low stomach acid. #6. H. pylori infections. #7. Malabsoprtion. #8. Celiac disease. #9. Gallstones. #10. Autoimmune gastritis. The key to fixing your thyroid is often a combination of treating BOTH your gut and your thyroid at the same time. Because thyroid disease can perpetuate gut dysfunction it’s always necessary to optimize thyroid function either with natural treatments or with thyroid medication. But doing both things at the same time is almost always the best approach. Do you have gut problems and thyroid problems? Do you think they are connected? How to Naturally Increase Glutathione to Treat Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis

One of the best ways to naturally treat Hashimoto’s is by increasing glutathione. Glutathione is the master antioxidant in your cells and a master detoxifier. The production of glutathione prevents thyroid gland damage and can help clean up free radicals after your thyroid gland creates thyroid hormone. We know that some patients with Hashimoto’s are not able to produce enough glutathione which is what may trigger thyroid gland inflammation in these patients. But what if you could do things to help your body produce more glutathione to try and prevent thyroid gland damage? That’s where these therapies step in. They are helpful for those with Hashimoto’s but they will benefit pretty much anyone including those with thyroid disease of any type. Here are 10 ways that you can naturally increase glutathione levels in your body: #1. Glycine supplements. Glycine is a building block for glutathione. Taking glycine may help your body produce more on its own. #2. Take a glutathione supplement. You can directly take a glutathione supplement! These work great but are used quickly by the body. #3. Use a coffee enema. Coffee enemas may increase glutathione levels by up to 600%. #4. Take a selenium supplement. Selenium is required by your thyroid gland to produce glutathione. #5. Eat foods high in sulfur (lots of fruits and vegetables). Sulfur is necessary to produce glutathione so you can eat foods which contain this building block. #6. If you aren’t able to get sulfur in your diet then try these supplements: - Sulforaphane - Milk thistle - A comprehensive B complex #7. Use whey protein or raw milk. If you can tolerate dairy then raw milk and whey protein may be an option. Both are rich in amino acids that your body needs to produce glutathione. #8. Take a magnesium supplement. Magnesium is required for ATP production which is required by your cells to produce glutathione. #9. Get enough sleep (8 hours per night). #10. Improve thyroid function to improve ATP production. If you have low thyroid function then this must be addressed! Persistent hypothyroidism will lead to decreased cellular ATP and energy production. #11. Treat and reverse insulin resistance (if present). The presence of insulin resistance can impair how much glutathione you produce naturally. Treat this condition if it is present. These treatments will help your body naturally produce glutathione on its own which may help to reduce thyroid gland inflammation and thyroid gland damage in those with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. They can be combined with other treatments for Hashimoto’s as well! Side Effects of Iodine Supplements & What They Mean

Having trouble getting iodine supplements into your body? If so, this episode is for you. While most people who take iodine supplements will have absolutely no issues, there are a handful of people who may experience negative side effects. But what causes these side effects? Why do some people react negatively to something that your body needs and uses on a daily basis? Even though iodine is required to produce thyroid hormone, there are some situations in which it may result in unwanted symptoms. There is always an answer for these symptoms, though, so don’t blame iodine right away! Often, the cause is not iodine itself but other problems that already exist in your body. Here are some symptoms that patients may experience while taking iodine supplements: - Acne-like pustules - Racing heart - Sweating - Headaches - Fatigue - Changes to your weight - Nausea - Stomach pain - Metallic taste in the mouth - Joint pain or muscle pain - Changes to your hair, skin, or nails - Thyroid gland pain - Swelling in the neck - Other symptoms of hyperthyroidism - Other symptoms of hypothyroidism Iodine can have an impact on thyroid function so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that some people who use iodine notice changes in their thyroid! These changes can result in symptoms ranging from hyperthyroidism (rare) to worsening hypothyroidism (rare) and even detox reactions like acne from the elimination of halides. The good news is that there is an explanation for these side effects and they aren’t all bad. Have you had issues in taking iodine supplements? If so, let me know below! Hypothyroid Supplements for Women - My Top Picks

These hypothyroid supplements for women may help improve estrogen balance, enhance libido, help with weight loss, improve thyroid function, and more. Women can benefit from a number of different supplements because of the interaction that thyroid hormone has with other sex hormones. How to Optimize Your Thyroid Medication: 4 Tweaks to Get You Back to 100%

This video outlines how to optimize your thyroid medication so that you can get back to feeling 100%. There’s no question that many thyroid patients continue to suffer with low thyroid symptoms despite taking their thyroid medication faithfully. As a result, this has prompted some thyroid patients to believe that perhaps the issue is related to the treatments for hypothyroidism. I’ve been getting a lot questions asking me when will new types of treatments for thyroid disease become available. Unfortunately, this type of thinking is not really the right way to look at the problem. Yes, there are a lot of thyroid patients suffering but it’s not necessarily of available treatments and more an issue of how they are using those treatments. When you look at thyroid medications you will find that every single one is bio-identical to your thyroid. In other words, that means that all thyroid medications look identical to the thyroid hormone that your body produces naturally. In other words, the treatments are pretty good. The issue stems from how you take it. If you aren’t feeling well then you can consider making these changes to optimize your thyroid medication: #1. Change the type of thyroid medication that you are taking. Many thyroid patients are only aware of levothyroxine and synthyroid but there are many subcategories of thyroid medication including: T4 only thyroid medications. T4 + T3 combinations of thyroid medications. NDT formulations. And T3 only medications. #2. Change how you take your thyroid medication. There are 3 different ways that you can take your thyroid medication including: Orally (swallowing your pill) Sublingually (dissolving your medication under your tongue) Injection form (taking your thyroid medication via injection) #3. Change the time of day that you take your thyroid medication. You can take your thyroid medication at different times of the day including: In the morning In the evening Splitting your dose and taking it multiple times throughout the day Alternate daily total doses of your medication #4. Change your dose of thyroid medication. Lastly, you can adjust your thyroid medication either up or down. If you do this make sure you wait at least 4-6 weeks to determine if it has worked for you! Which Protein Powder is Best For Hashimoto’s? Whey vs Plant vs Beef

Want to know the best protein powder if you have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis? Stay tuned to find out what I recommend most frequently to thyroid patients! I’m a big fan of protein powder for thyroid patients because it provides so many benefits. Some of these benefits include: - Helps with weight loss - Provides you with a quick an easy meal - Helps control your appetite - Easy way to get extra nutrients into your body - It’s easy to prepare and tastes great Having said that, not all protein powders are created equal and using the wrong type of protein powder can actually make your thyroid worse. Today I want to talk about the 3 most common types of protein powders that most Hashimoto’s patients are aware of and discuss the pros and cons of each. First up we have whey protein. Whey protein is probably the most common type of protein powder available and the protein powder that most people use. Pros of whey protein powder include: - Results in an increase in glutathione production - Lowest calorie per protein compared to other protein powders - Rapidly digested and easily absorbed by the body - Has a better taste compared to other types of protein powders - Rich in the amino acid leucine which is ideal for muscle building Cons of whey protein powder include: - Hashimoto’s patients may be sensitive to whey - May cause gut discomfort - Not all forms of whey protein are created equal - Many contain inactive ingredients such as dyes and fillers Next up we have plant based protein powders such as pea, brown rice, chia, hemp, pumpkin, soy, and other blends. Pros of plant based protein powders include: - Usually well tolerated by thyroid patients - Usually well absorbed - Amino acid blend is close to that of whey - Usually contains fewer inactive ingredients Cons of plant based protein powders include: - Taste can be an issue for some - More calories per gram of protein - May come from a GMO source Third we have hydrolyzed beef protein powder Pros of hydrolyzed beef protein powder include: - Paleo and AIP friendly - May be ideal for those with multiple food intolerances Cons of hydrolyzed beef protein powder include: - It is the most expensive per serving of all protein powders - It is animal-based so it’s not ideal if you are avoiding beef due to religious reasons or due to allergies - Taste and mouth feel are different compared to plant and whey protein powders - The source matters! 6 Lessons Learned After Helping Thousands of Thyroid Patients

Over the past 6 years, I’ve had the opportunity to help thousands of thyroid patients. I’ve seen and responded to thousands of emails, I’ve personally helped many patients 1 on 1, and over 70,000 thyroid patients have used my supplements to date. I’m not saying this to brag but just to let you know that I’ve done nothing but eat, breathe, and sleep thyroid-related things for the last 6 years! And over these last 6 years, I’ve learned a thing or two that I want to share with you. My goal has been and will continue to be, to help thyroid patients feel better. I don’t know of any other group of patients who get ignored more than thyroid patients by their doctors. Part of feeling better is getting the right information and arming yourself with the right knowledge. With that in mind, let’s get into these 6 lessons: #1. Act fast The best thing you can do if you have a thyroid problem is act NOW! Thyroid disease can and will take away the best parts of your life if you left it. Acting fast will ensure that you take control of your thyroid and not the reverse. #2. Start small There’s a lot of information out there and it can be confusing. Instead of focusing on trying to learn it all just focus on doing SOMETHING. Don’t let information overload paralyze you. #3. Learn from your mistakes There is no one sized fits all treatment paradigm for thyroid patients and, as a result, you will have to be your own guinea pig. The sooner you figure this out the better! #4. Listen to people who have done it before Don’t listen to random people on the internet! Find information from people who are back at 100% health and who have helped other people get there too. #5. Be consistent It’s normal to have some ups and downs. Changing your diet isn’t easy, exercising regularly isn’t easy, the key is to have more up days than down days. Consistency is the key to progress. #6. Focus but don’t obsess It’s important to realize that your thyroid is important but it’s also important to realize that it’s not everything! Don’t become consumed with your health to the point that it becomes a problem. Hashimoto’s Flare Up Symptoms - How to Tell If You Are Inflamed

These Hashimoto’s flare up symptoms will help you determine if your symptoms are related to a flare up or related to something else. Those with Hashimoto’s may experience what is referred to as a Hashimoto’s flare up. This occurs when something triggers your immune system to flare up and increase its attack on your thyroid gland. These flare ups are often associated with very specific symptoms that are often different from the regular day to day symptoms that most thyroid patients experience. Symptoms from a flare up stem from a combination of both thyroid and immune problems whereas thyroid symptoms tend to come directly from the thyroid gland. Knowing you are in a flare up is important because you will want to treat the cause of that flare up ASAP! A Hashimoto’s flare up is usually associated with direct thyroid gland damage from the immune response and you want to stop that as quickly as you possibly can. Here is a list of Hashimoto’s flare-up symptoms that you may experience in a flare-up: - Sudden or unexplained weight gain (or an increase in weight gain from what is considered normal for you) - Sudden or worsening fatigue - Heat in the neck or thyroid gland area - Thyroid pain (uncommon but can occur) - Difficulty swallowing or feeling pressure in the neck when talking/eating/drinking - General feeling of weakness or malaise - New joint pain and/or muscular pain (or worsening of existing pain) - New racing heart or sensation of palpitations - Jittery sensation or uncomfortable rush or nervous energy - Abrupt onset of brain fog, difficulty concentrating or inability to focus on difficult tasks - Changes to your gut function (usually constipation but could also be diarrhea) - Acute symptoms of hyperthyroidism - Acute symptoms of hypothyroidism Have you been in a flare up before?
