I recently got a great question from a listener that I wanted to address on the show because it's something that I'm really passionate about. She asked if proximity matters and my answer is absolutely, yes. Proximity is the shortcut to getting where you want to go. For years Lori and I were yes people, and for years we have watched others "yes" themselves to death. This week, I received a magazine from the Wisconsin Maritime Museum celebrating raising 9.5 million dollars to build a tower that houses all sorts of displays for the museum. This just happens to be the tower that my Dad designed and created when he was the President and Chairman of the Board. Until my Dad took that President's seat it was nothing more than a wish and he turned it into a reality. I started reading the names of the donors and I realized that my community had donated a ton of money cumulatively to my father's dream. This is the direct result of building a community of people around you — friends, family, and acquaintances — who work hard to put themselves in a financially advantageous place, then pay it forward without the expectation of anything back. This week I travelled to Denver to teach at Fast Foundations Mastermind. I planned to spend the lesson debunking the recent article I shared that said people are more afraid of a recession than ever before.
