Ep 571571: The 7 Most Common Intermittent Fasting Mistakes (TWT)
I'm sure even going back just 100 years ago people would be laughing at us talking about taking a break from eating! The truth is that we have so much food abundance (in many countries) that we actually have to be convinced it's NOT a good thing to always be eating - even healthy food... The reason for this is that we as humans are hard-wired to eat, gain weight, and protect our bodies for survival... The problem is that nature didn't really account for refrigeration and processed foods, which allow us to have near unlimited access to food 24/7/365... Therefore, it is vitally important we re-learn diurnal eating cycles in order to improve our health, transform our bodies, and live longer! But, like with anything, intermittent fasting can be done the right way, or the wrong way depending on your needs... That's why on today's #CabralConcept 571 I want to teach you the 7 most common intermittent fasting mistakes - Enjoy the show! - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/571 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 570570: Why You Must Embrace Being Uncomfortable (MM)
Growing up we're always being shielded from hardships... Our parents, community, and everyone that cares for us tries to the best of their ability to protect us and make our life as comfortable as possible... Eventually this leads to the mindset that we must avoid as many challenging situations as possible - After all, we've been taught that the goal is to remain in our "safe zone." The problem is that playing it safe can often backfire and what we're left with is a life that is anything but happy or fulfilled... Tune into today's #CabralConcept 570 to understand why you must embrace being uncomfortable - Enjoy the show! - - - Show Notes & Resources http://StephenCabral.com/570 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 569569: Infant Formula, Working with Me, Crohn's Testing, Diaper Rash, Child Seizures (HouseCall)
Thank you for tuning back into our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend - We've got some great Q&A's today. Here are today's community questions: Susie: Hi Dr. Cabral, I am pregnant and am planning on breastfeeding my baby. A friend of mine however started to breastfeed but had to stop after her baby developed an allergy to her milk.... I read the ingredients list for the crazy expensive can of formula she is using and saw some ingredients that I didn't really like such as palm kernel oil etc... It was a major brand that everyone would know, but it was far more expensive than the regular formula because apparently it is their "allergy" or "medical" formula. What would your suggestion be for a brand of formula if a mother has to use it (or chooses to use it) over breast milk. I cannot thank you enough for all that you do. Susie Lubos: Dr. Cabral. Not sure if this is even a good question, but let me try… (BTW, thank you for answering my question about 23&me). I have heard you say several times – let's stop guessing and start testing (referring to diagnosing symptoms or disease). The approach really resonates. However, most of us, including myself already have bunch of blood test results, sleep lab results, urine tests… etc. Most of us also tried supplements (not necessarily yours), medications, diets etc. Yet, most of us are still sick, fat, hypertensive and…quite frankly miserable (I am seriously projecting here J). Then, a person like yourself comes along - someone with proven track record and self-administered results. That's powerful. To my question now: Where should one start? Let's say, I'd like you to help me get into great health, yet I – like most of us – have limited budget. I'd honestly love to do all the tests that you provide, but simply cannot afford them all. Is there a cheat sheet, something that I could follow to gain confidence that I am 'getting the biggest bang for my buck'. Should I do the genetic test first? Or should I try the 21 day detox and see if that fixes things (even though it goes against 'let's stop guessing and start testing'). Can you, please, bring clarity to those of us (or perhaps only me) who don't see the forest for the trees and don't really know which path to follow. As always, you and your work are impressive. Thank you for all you do. Lubo Jen: Hi Dr Cabral, I would like to know the proper protocol for my situation. I'm 56 and have had Crohn's disease for 20 years. I had a stricture about 3 years ago and had a portion of my large intestine removed and started a maintenance dose of remicade every 3 months. I have also gained about 15 lbs since taking the remicade and would like to shed that as well. I am feeling good, exercise daily, but would like to get off the remicade and heal my body the proper way. I take Metamucil to add fiber 2 x a day, a vsl 3 probiotic, D3, and a multi. I ordered the 3 week detox and would like to proceed with the proper testing and supplements. How would you recommend I begin my journey to better health. Thank you for your wonderful podcasts. Jen Sent from my iPhone Jodi: Hi Dr. Cabral, My friend's baby has a pretty bad diaper rash. Are there natural creams or powders that can clear it up? Macy: Hello! Thank you for such a helpful and informative podcast! I have a question I am hoping you can answer! What would be your protocol for a child (elementary age) who has petit mal seizures? Would a child with this condition benefit from a gut based diet (like gaps) or extra supplements? Can food sensitivities play a role? Your thoughts, advice or recommendations would be very much appreciated. Thank you again for taking the time to help!!! - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/569 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 568568: Body Types, Gut Cleansing Steps, Concussion, Swollen Knuckles, Food Testing Prep (HouseCall)
Welcome to our first Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! Here are today's community questions: Jen: Hi Dr. Cabral I've heard you talk a little about body types and wondered how much this affects what each type eats and how they are supposed to exercise. Could you give a brief overview of each of those different body types (Ectomorph, Mesomorph, Endomorph) and how to tell which one I might be as well as the best exercise and foods for each type? Also, How does your blood type affect the way you breakdown food and should eat? Thanks - Jen Josie: Hi Doc, I bought the parasite and candida cleanse, but decided to be safe and do the h. Pylori treatment first. My questions are: Should I follow the healthy gut guide (for the candida) for the entire cleanse? Also, I'm noticing that I'm having bloating after eating meats (specifically fish and eggs). You mentioned Great Lakes collagen protein powder and I'm wondering if I can use it during these cleanses. Steph B: Hello Doctor! Thank you so much for EVERYTHING you do! I recently left you a 5 star review on iTunes! I try to listen to your podcasts every day, but if I can't, I save them up and "binge" listen to them! I'm very grateful to you. In April of 2016, my best-friend suffered a severe concussion. She was in the middle of moving to a new home and while cleaning a small crawlspace, her husband came up behind her and startled her. She raised up with much vigor (eek...!) and slammed her head against the top of the crawl space. She has had brain scans and other tests run, and all come up with nothing. They have told her that here is no cure for concussion. Chiropractor visits & acupuncture treatments have helped, but her headaches flare with stress & activity, heat, wine, and even certain sounds. She's miserable most of the time and some days she cannot even get out of bed. She is a married mother of three young children, and not even 40 years-old. She recently confided in me that sometimes she feels like her life is over. My heart was broken. I looked through your prior podcasts, but didn't see anything about concussions. Please doctor, any advice, or suggestions for my friend? Jodi: Hi Dr Cabral, Thanks for creating such wonderful podcasts. They have been fun, interesting and helpful. My question is about bulging knuckles. In 2013 I noticed the knuckles on both hands on my pointer fingers were enlarged. In 2014 I saw a hand specialist and surgeon to determine what was happening thinking they could remove what I thought was an enlargement of my knuckle bone. I was told I had thumb CMC arthritis (Basel joint arthritis) and there is nothing they could do. I had no pain at the time of my appointment but now over the years I am experiencing some pain when I hold things in my hands for an extended amount of time and my knuckles are getting larger. My hands do tingle and ache occasionally when I'm just sitting. I will be 60 in September, I am a whole foods lean eater, and I exercise 4-5 days a week. In my 20-30's I was a body builder (not to compete) but now I lift light weights to stay fit a couple times a week for my arms. I don't have any pain when I exercise or type at work. I have done your 7 day detox and now I have your daily nutritional shake every morning, and I follow the detox meal protocol for lunch and dinner. Super simple to do. I do have an occasional glass or two of wine on the weekends. My once beautiful hands are getting quite gnarly and the area between my thumb and pointer finger is starting to sink in. All of my other knuckles are normal. Is there anything I can do to stop or reverse this or put it in remission? Should I stop exercising, get a different angled keyboard, take supplements, check with a different Dr for surgery? I hope you can help. Thank you. Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral, I'm going to be starting your 21 Day Detox this weekend to hopefully clear up some acne that I've been experiencing for about 4 months now. I ordered your Food Sensitivity Test, in hopes that I could complete this before starting the cleanse; however, I just learned that the shipping facility is awaiting the next shipment of test kits, so it won't be delivered until the end of next week. I'm deciding to start the cleanse before receiving the kit. Do you have any suggestions for how I should proceed with this testing, after completing the detox? I have some unexplained acne that I'm working to clear up and I don't want to go back to eating any foods that I may be allergic to, and linked to my acne, for the sake of testing just to be back at square one, as it is suggested to eat a variety of foods before taking the test. Thank you so much! Thank you for tuning in and I look forward to answering more of our community questions tomorrow! - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/568 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 567567: Use This Test to Discover Your True Biological Age (FR)
All of us are use to celebrating our birthday every year and getting one year old (chronologically), but... Your chronological age can often be drastically different than your biological age... What this means is that regardless of the actual number of birthday's you've celebrated, the inside of your body may be aging at a faster (or slower) rate... The goal, of course, is to slow down the aging process as much as possible, so that age truly does become "just a number." And by slowing the aging process you will get to enjoy more energy, stamina, better moods, vibrant hair/skin/nails, and over-all a greater sense of well-being... Ep 565565: Why Going Gluten-Free May Be Bad For You (WW)
When I went gluten-free 20 years ago the food selection was a lot different... There wasn't the level of choice that we now see in the grocery food store... You can now purchase everything from breads, to muffins, to cookies in gluten-free varieties... But the question then becomes, are these options better than those containing wheat or gluten? Ep 564564: The 8 Overlooked Signs of Adrenal Fatigue (TWT)
About 20 years ago I suffered from one of the worst cases of "adrenal chronic fatigue" you could have... I was diagnosed with Addison's Disease and given no hope for recovery - except to continue to take a drug based cortisol for the rest of my life... I decided that I didn't want to live this way and as a result I went searching for answers... What I discovered along the way changed my life, led to my complete recovery, and to a life I could have only dreamed about... Now, I've made it my mission to share the proven wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging strategies with you, so that you too no longer have to suffer... Ep 563563: Harvard Study on Happiness (MM)
In 1938 the sophomore class at Harvard University entered into a study that would last until present day... Little did any of the participants know it would have such an enormous impact on the field of health and psychology that it would span 4 generations of research directors in order to study the results... The research also started to transition away from the physical health of the classmates and morph into an exposé on one the most profound studies on happiness ever recorded... Ep 562562: Bulging Disk, Excessive Sweating, NutrEval vs. OAT Test, Sinus Issues, Neon Yellow Urine (HouseCall)
Welcome to our first Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! We're getting ready to answer some of our community's amazing questions on wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging. I'm looking forward to sharing those answers with you so let's get started! Scott: Hi Dr. Cabral - I recently accompanied my fiance on her visit to the Wellness Institute. I must say I'm thoroughly impressed with the whole experience, especially with the amount of time and effort you put into each appointment/consultation. My fiance has me hooked on the podcasts! Thank you very much for the knowledge you share with us. With that said, I have some questions of my own, but first, just a little background. I'm a 30 year old male who played at a very high level of soccer up until graduating from school, and since then, still play quite competitively. I've always been prone to injuries and most recently I've been diagnosed with bulging discs in my lower back (L5) as well as in my C3/C4, C4/C5 and stenosis in my C5/C6 - quite a mess right now. Long story short, I've been in a lot of pain over the last two weeks with the bulging pressing on the cervical nerves radiating down my shoulder and into my hand. My questions are which supplements do you recommend I take to help in the healing process? I've read about MSM, Omega 3, and Glucosamine and Chondroitin. I haven't heard of MSM, but read that it's a "miracle drug". Where does one purchase these or other types of supplements? And lastly, I'm hoping you have a recommendation on any exercises (I envision you as the Wikipedia of health - my apologies, I'm asking too much), whether that be an inversion board or some other type of exercise. I've been advised to go see a spinal specialist and will be making appointments today. Thank you again for the podcast service and such a great practice! Regards, Scott Jen: Hi Dr. Cabral! Thanks for all the great information you've provided in your podcasts. I've learned so much! My question today is related to excessive sweating and body odor when doing so. My teenage stepdaughter is very active in sports. She's muscular and strong, bigger than most girls her age, but 'solid' not flabby. Based on my experience, she sweats more than most grown men and her body odor when sweating is quite pungent. Her clothes smell like a stale dirty gym locker room and must be washed immediately. Her father (my husband) and her sister (my other stepdaughter) do not have this issue at all. It might be something genetic from her biological mom's family, but that's unknown to us. Do you have any suggestions for what might be causing this and how we might help prevent this? Thanks for all the help you provide to your listeners!! Lisa: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have 2 questions for you that I hope you can help me with. I recently read a book, Eating on the Wild Side, and I loved learning about eating the right foods. In this book they say the skins of fruit and veggies are nutritious......However, now Im reading The Plant Paradox and its about lectins and how harmful they are for us and its in the skins of our fruits and veggies. What is your opinion on lectins? My other question is about the OATS testing. I did this testing, however, I also do the NutrEval testing....can you explain the difference? The OATS test showed no yeast, but the NutrEval showed high yeast. This is confusing for me and would like your input. Thank you so much for everything you do and God bless your family! Lisa Mariellen: Thanks for everything you do for your listeners. I previously wrote in and ordered the hormone test and had my consult with your health coach and just ordered the DIM Evail and adrenal response complete care. I am on month 2 of the candida protocol and haven't stuck to the diet as well as I should, but have noticed reduced bloating and other benefits. I also take your Daily Activated Multivitamin. I feel like everything and anything gives me headaches.. I have been using the netti pot and when I have my bad headaches it does make me feel a little better, but notice after I use it when I bend over.. water pours of my nose and not sure if it's normal when I use it I can sometimes feel it in my throat. My headaches are always the back of my head, my ears, my sinuses and my eyes always hurt and burn when I get them. They are usually pulsating. I also had trouble swallowing and getting food down. I have been choking here and there. I also have heart burn and do not talk anything for that. Sometimes when I swallow my pills for the candida protocol and my vitamin, the side of my stomach will start throbbing with pain. Sometimes it even feels like it's hard to breathe and I always feel the need to clear my throat. My thyroid is ok I have had that checked out. Any thoughts would help and any natural remedies would be great seeing as I do not want to take anything for acid reflex etc. Ewa: Hello, thanks dr Cabral for all that you do, so grateful and appreciate you daily! I would like to know what you suggest I do r
Ep 561561: Seizures, Health Condition Root Cause, Annual Review, Medicated Children, Cysts (HouseCall)
Welcome back to our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend and I hope you were able to tune into yesterday's 6 community questions! We had a great Q&A session and I'm looking forward to sharing more with you today with these brand new questions: Mariellen: Dr Cabral, you have always helped me in finding answers to my health issues and I am on a journey to getting better. I am not writing in for myself. I have a friend who for years has had what I would say are seizures. She has crashed her car before, been on vacation far from home and had this happen. There seems to be no common factor in these episodes. When she was on vacation she had a wild dream about a ton of spiders and woke up and her fiancé found her seizing and she always throws up after and sometimes pees herself as well. Out to dinner, she became unconscious, no seizing (which she said sometimes happens) and this was the only event where this has happened where she has had alcohol in her system but she literally became limp and was completely out for a minute or possibly longer and was sweating perfusely and began to vomit minutes later. We had just finished dinner and she was drinking water along with her dinner. She is a hairdresser and yesterday had mentioned she did a wedding and barely ate anything all day. She always feels completely exhausted after. Sometimes there is seizing and sometimes, there is not. No one will give her answer. She once had her stitches taken out and had a seizure. Anything would be helpful. Thank you In addition to my other question just wanted to add on that she smokes marijuana and in the vacation case, she hadn't smoked for 4 days and had one and yesterday was the first day she hadn't smoked in awhile. The doctors will not diagnosis her with epilepsy because whatever test they ran came back negative and they say what she has are not seizures. Any advice would help. Josie: Dear Doctor Cabral, I've been listening to all of your podcasts and learning soooo much. I really enjoy listening. I am currently working on improving my own health, but my mother's health is very worrisome. These are a list of her major conditions. I was hoping you would have some ideas on a place for my mother to start. Primary liver sclerosis, State 3 liver disease Colitis Crohn's UC Diverticulitis Autoimmune Hepatitis IBD Hiatal hernia Osteoporosis Hepatocellular She has had part of her bowels removed 7 years ago. She gets esophageal varices because of her liver disease. She experiences abdominal pain, spasms, bloating, extreme fatigue. My mother is on a LOT of meds for her illnesses, but she is only 58! She has been on antibiotics for about 2 years. I hate that she is on them, but the doctors have had her on them since she had septic shock and acute renal failure in 2015. I would like to encourage her to strengthen her liver. We have listened her your podcasts and learned that low fat diets are good for your liver. I'm trying to get her to drop gluton and sugar, and start drinking warm water. She already enjoys water with lemon, but I'd like to leave her with more. Would you think that starting there is sufficient or might you have more recommendations? Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you do, Josie Cara: Hi Dr. Cabral, First and foremost, I found your podcast a couple of months ago and I have been listening to you nonstop as I love learning about optimal health and nutrition. I value all of the hard work you do especially because it is derived from your own struggle and quest now to serve others. Recent History: I had a crash cesarean 21 months ago. I ended up with a very rare condition called velamentous cord insertion. My daughter arrived at 36 weeks 2 days (after a healthy pregnancy - no red flags) she lost a tremendous amount of blood before delivery, required intubation, 2 blood transfusions and was almost immediately transported via ambulance to CHOC where she was cooled to 91 degrees for 72 hours. She survived and thrived, no stroke no seizure, no developmental delays. We now share our story on behalf of CHOC at fundraisers and have contributed to the new NICU they just completed building. We have been able to serve others through our trauma. We eat paleo-ish, always organic / free-range / pastured / no gluten. I did start incorporating raw goat dairy a few months ago. I have one cup of coffee a day, usually half caffeine. I do yoga/pilates and with a toddler and two businesses I'd say my stress level is moderate. I wanted to clean up my system after having surgery and antibiotics. At 12 months postpartum (last November - January) I did a very in-depth 12 week gut thrive program. It started with an anti-inflammatory diet and moved into a pathogen purge, followed up my a reseeding phase. The clinical nutritionist is very similar to you in most ways with her philosophies and practices. The program included things like proteolytic enzymes, digestive enzymes, biocidin, atak, mors, diamateceaus earth+clay, triphala, Pure encapuslatio
Ep 560560: Learn to Speed Read + The Definitive Guide to Cancer (FR)
One of the most popular questions I get is how (and why!) did I read so many books in such a short period of time? I always tell people that I wasn't born with any special speed reading ability and when I started out, I was actually a 3-page per minute (or slower) reader... What happened was that I learned a few techniques that allowed me to cut my reading time by more than half, and then again by another half when I became more skilled... This then allowed me to read thousands of books and discover the knowledge I needed to get well, and then share it with others... Ep 559559: Get Better Results By Skipping the Scale and Doing This Instead (TT)
My least favorite form of measuring a client's progress is by weighing them in on a daily basis... Many people have a fear of the scale and rightly so... Sometimes you'll feel like you're doing everything right, yet the number isn't budging in the direction as much as you'd like... The good news is that if you dislike doing weigh-ins there are actually better measurements for tracking your results... Ep 558558: The 10 Things That Will Make You Sick, Fat & Depressed (WW)
Unfortunately in our Western-based, conventional medicine society we've grown up thinking that our health and wellness is largely determined by our genetics... And we've also been led to believe that our mental health is a consequence of our genes and upbringing... The truth, though, is so far removed from that ideological worldview that it seems insane most doctors still subscribe to it... We know that certain lifestyle factors cause sickness, disease, weight gain, and depression, yet we tend to ignore them because "a pill" is always ready to be prescribed... As I said, it's unfortunate, but the good news is that you don't have to be a victim any longer - Tune into today's #CabralConcept 558 to discover "10 Things That Will Make You Sick, Fat & Depressed" - Enjoy the show! - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/558 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 557557: How to Regenerate Your Immune System in 72 Hours (TWT)
What if I were to tell you that you could completely regenerate your immune system in just 72 hours... You'd probably think I was crazy or hyping up some type of "advanced immune-booster magic pill..." But the truth is that there is a way to rebuild your white blood cells and super-charge your immune system without anything other than what mother-nature already gave us... It also works so well that cancer patients about to receive chemotherapy are now being asked to complete this simple protocol before their treatments... Ep 556556: Why You Must Embrace the Struggle (MM)
I think too often we fall in love with the idea of living "happily ever after." We've been brainwashed through fairy tales and myths that a rainbow and pot of gold exist at the other side of our problems... But the real truth has been known throughout the ages: There is no happiness without struggle. There is no joy without sadness. The trick is to not have to "suffer" or struggle for too long before you can realize that fact and move through it to happier times... Ep 555555: Hip Bursitis, Immune Stress, Type 1 Diabetes, Never Feel Rested, HIV Care (HouseCall)
I hope you enjoyed yesterday's Cabral #HouseCall and that you're ready to get started with another 5 community questions! Here's what we'll be covering today (and plenty more tips!): Joanie: I love listening to your podcasts and have learned so much from you. Thanks for all you do getting this information out especially for free. I have been dealing with hip bursitis for the past 8 months. It's worse when I go from sitting to standing. I have always been active and enjoyed running (not long distance running), but any high impact I do now is painful. I have had xrays, been to chiropractors, orthopedic surgeon and had a hip injection which only helped for a couple of weeks. I am wondering if I should get another injection? I am very healthy - no grains, no dairy, eat lots of veggies/fruits/lean protein. I have been doing stretches, yoga, walking, etc. but nothing seems to help make it go away. Any information you can give me would be great! Thank you so much!! Rebekah: Hello! I recently had blood work and found that my WBC, Hemoglobin, Hematocrit and platelet count were all on the low end. All but the platelet count were only low by .5 or less. My platelet count was 111ng/ml. This is the first time I've seen these issues before. I'm just wondering what it could be. My naturopath said it could be immune stress and my GI said I should see a hematologist. Ferritin is 9 ng/ml and vitamin D is 35 which I know ideal is 50-70ng/ml but its gone up remarkably from 13ng/ml (this increase in vitamin D is 2 weeks on your daily nutritional support powder). Pretty healthy 27yr old femal. the only known issues are upper GI based. Reflux, indigestion, bloating, abdominal pain from time to time, but I'm taking your healthy belly for that as I suspect it's h.pylori after and encounter with food poisoning. So, where should I begin looking and what is immune stress?? Galina: My husband who is 25 year old and otherwise is in good health was just diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Every doctor asked us if he had any illnesses recently or stress. He did in fact have a very stressful period in his life about 3-6 months prior to diagnosis. I understand its an autoimmune disorder and everyone everywhere says its not reversible. My question is if its not possible to reverse T1D and regrow new pancreas, is it possible to reverse autoimmune mechanism, to stop his body from attacking itself, get rid of antibodies? If so, how? Thank you Heather: Hi Dr. Cabral. I am wondering what test you would recommend I start with. I am a 29yr old female. I live a pretty healthy lifestyle (eat all organic, non-processed foods and exercise about 3-4x a week). When I was 22 I was diagnosed with thyroiditis that eventually resolved on it's own and no medication was needed. Ever since then I've felt my body changed (maybe it's just a coincidence?). A year after I started to develop a strange problem where multiple times a month I would wake up in the morning with my eyes severely swollen shut as if I had an allergic reaction. For the past 5 years or so I haven't found any answers, with doctors being completely stumped. some suggested a food allergy (ive had testing) others suggested idiopathic angioedema and recently had my thyroid checked again with blood work. I feel it's related to my hormones. I used to take my birth control pill every night before bed. I decided 4 years ago to stop taking birth control pills to see if I would get any relief. It helped tremendously and now I only have minimal swelling once a month always a week before my period. On a side note, I'm always extremely tired and I can't seem to figure out why. I get a minimum of 7 hours of sleep a night. I never feel rested upon waking and always crash around 3pm and need to take a nap. If I don't set an alarm I could easily sleep 12 hours. Do you think the tiredness is related to whatever else is occurring? Thank you for all you do, I truly appreciate it and enjoy listening to your daily podcasts every morning on my way to work! Heather Anonymous: I am a married mother of three lovely boys, 49 years old, overweight, menopausal and working 40-50 hours of night shift a week as a flight nurse. Life is busy, rewarding, fun and stressful. Have just found your podcast and loving all the wisdom, information and real-ness. So, as well as fighting the weight, fatigue and hormones, I have been living with HIV for 20 years. I have been on and off meds throughout that time, depending on the wisdom and practice of my ID doctor, have never been sick and maintain CD4 > 900 and undetectable copies. Currently on Odefsey with no obvious side effects, but I worry about the toxicity. In another life, naturopathy as a career would have been my thing, I'd love your insight on functional medicines role in HIV care. Appreciate it, thank you. 554: Missing Gallbladder, Chemotherapy Compliment, Prolapsed Uterus, Clean Mattress, Lab Test Accuracy (HouseCall)
I can't believe it's already time for another Cabral HouseCall - the weeks have been flying by! I'm really looking forward to today's show and here are our community's questions: Vicky: Dr. Cabral, I would like to start using your Daily Nutritional Support. I had my gallbladder removed about 10 years ago. So I'm wondering if this Support is safe for me to use. Also take 50 mg Losartan for high blood pressure. Recently diagnosed with a hernia. With the above, would the product be ok for me to start using. Always look forward every morning to listening to your podcast. Thank you so much for your help and time. Vicky Maggie: my son has been battling a very rare form of cancer since he was five. He has been sick a lot due to all the chemo wiping out his immune system. We almost lost him around December 2016. He is now almost seven and has recently been sick with a virus in his blood that the doctors cannot control. I want to build up his immune system and help him fight his cancer in as natural way as possible. Could you please recommend how I can go about this. Thank you so much for all your advise and help. You are a blessing to us all. Maggie Cindy: Hello Dr Stephen Cabral, I have a question. Thanks again for all your podcasts and for all the information you provide to us. May God bless you , your team and your family. My question is... why is my uterus low? How can I fix this issue? Thanks again. Michele: Hi Dr. Cabral, So many people I know are looking for recommendations for comfortable mattresses that aren't toxic. Can you recommend a couple of brands? Curious what you use? I have one all cotton one for my child and my husband and I are due for a new one. Ours is not a "clean" mattress and not particularly comfortable. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Michele Sotirios: Greetings I read about your work with great interest. I specifically read that some consumer groups have send to different labs ( I don't know which ones ) same blood samples and they receive different and not overlapping results. Or that food sensitivity testing has not been studied systematically so we have no reliable evidence that it is meaningful. For instance - How you make sure the tears are accurate ? Do you run them twice ? We were thinking of purchasing some of the tests in my family but I would like to read more about that in detail if it is possible . Many thanks best wishes Thank you for tuning in and I can't wait to share with you a brand new set of Q&As tomorrow! - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/554 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral

As I've said before, there's a time and place for a low-carb diet, but in general it's not a great long-term plan... In the beginning you may be feeling great and getting the benefits of a meal plan lower in carbs, but then some negative symptoms may start to creep in... It is these initial signs you will want to know about so that they do not lead to serious health issues in the long run... Ep 551551: 7 Signs Your Fat Burning Hormones Are Low (WW)
Often times we associate weight gain or a difficult time losing the weight as the only thing our fat burning hormones are good for... However, your levels of metabolic hormones have a far greater effect on your overall body (and mind) than you may have ever thought about... They effect everything from your mood, to where you gain the weight, to how you view yourself... Ep 550550: The Benefits & Difference Between Steam vs. Sauna (TWT)
Lately there's been a lot of talk in the media about the benefits of using heat therapies to get well, lose weight, and love longer... And in a previous show I spoke about using sauna therapy for just 19-minutes to reduce heart disease and all cause mortality by over 40%! But i'm getting a lot of questions coming in on the differences between using a steam vs. sauna, and if they're both equally great? So on today's Cabral concept 550 would like to do is take you through the pros, cons, and different benefits that each one of these therapies can provide - Enjoy the show! - - - Show notes & resources: http://StephenCabral.com/550 - - - Get your question answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 549549: The Invisible Chains Holding You Back (MM)
It's hard to believe, but the way we now view life had already been shaped well before we even graduated from high school... This is why I've said before that most people only have the illusion of choice... They've never been told that the reason they think and act the way they do is due to preconceived conditioning that happened during childhood... So although your subconscious thoughts can be reprogrammed you have to figure out what to reprogram in the first place! This will then allow you to be free in mind and body to begin to achieve any goals you've set for yourself! (No more self-sabotage.) Ep 548548: Best Genetic Test, MTHFR Mutation, Dairy = Cancer, Eye Infection, Inflamed Joints, Customize Your Detox (HouseCall)
I hope you enjoyed yesterday's #HouseCall and you're ready to get started with another community Q&A! Here are today's questions I'll be answering: Lubos: Dr. Cabral. What is the main difference between 23&me vs. the genetic testing you provide via your website? I assume you may have covered this topic before (I'm relatively new to your podcast and to you) but there seems to be no content search functionality on your blog/website. Thank you and thank you for all you do. Lubos Anonymous: Hey Doctor Cabral! Love your podcast dearly, thank you for all the information you provide. I love to learn from you. I found out I have the heterozygous MTHFR 677C/T mutation and was wondering if it is necessary for my to consume additional folate besides my daily multi vitamin which already contains 400mg. When I tried additional folate I got bad reactions such as insomnia and anxiety so I stopped, but I have read your body needs to go through a adjustment period for compensating for so long with this mutation. Is there any truth to this? Thanks! Aileen: Hi there! You mentioned in a recent podcast that dairy definitely feeds cancer (not causes but feeds the growth of cells when you have it). A friends sisters cancer has metasticized and her Dr said dietary changes aren't important but exercise is (!!!!!). Can you speak to the research behind this so I can send her in the right direction? Couldn't find any clean examples online. Thank you! I'll be sure to review on iTunes - I don't listen to any podcasts other than yours and they're so informative. Angela: Hi Dr. Cabral, I want to start by saying thank you for everything you do, and for the accessible and unmatched information you offer through the best podcast out there! My question is regarding my mom's eyes. About a month ago her eyes have started to tear throughout the day. They are not itchy or red but have a sticky residue in the mornings, can be puffy, and they leave a crusty deposit around the tear ducts. She has used antibiotic eye drops that did not help. She had a bad case of pink eye about a year ago which was treated by antibiotic eye drops, which seemed to help. She has allergies to pollen and cats, as well as asthma. I have suggested to her that her sensitivities to histamines could be a cause and she has switched her face cream to Argan oil. Any suggestions would help! Thank you for your time, it is greatly appreciated. Angela Anita: Hi Dr. Cabral, I listen to your podcast every day. You are truly amazing because of all the knowledge and help you give to so many people. I'll give you my history in as little words as possible here. I've been vegan for over four years now. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and some grains. I probably eat more sugar than I should by means of dark chocolate. I don't eat gluten because I have celiac disease, I'm 50 now. I'm depressed, anxious and exhausted all the time. I get bladder infections almost every time my husband and I are intimate, although since you have suggested probiotics I haven't had one for a month now. My joints are incredibly sore all over my body especially my hands, feet, hips and shoulders. I'm taking 50 billion probiotics with eight strains because I believe from what everything you have taught me that I have a leaky gut. I also have GERD, IBS, and have fibroids in my uterus. I wonder if I have yeast overgrowth. I ordered your Dr. Cabral three week detox and will be starting as soon as it gets here. Dr. Cabral, if you could give me any advice specific to my situation I would be forever grateful as I have been living in this state for many years and it's affecting my personal and professional life in a very bad way. Thank you for all that you do! Laura: Hi Dr. Cabral, Great information and all of your podcast! I am a health coach and have used your detox protocol on myself and others with great results! My question is regarding a special client of mine. This person has majority of their colon removed. She has just enough left so she doesn't have to have a bag. I want her to do a detox protocol but she is worried about the fiber intake and problems with her lack of colon. What would you recommend as a detox protocol for this client. Does she still need to take some sort of fiber/binding agent or is she OK to just "let things come out" so to speak. Lol thank you so much for all of your wonderful information and health advice. - Laura Thank you for tuning in this weekend to the Cabral Concept HouseCall shows and I look forward to speaking with you tomorrow! - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/548 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 547547: Dark Times, Meniere's Disease, Children's Health, Tea Sensitivity, Always Catching Colds (HouseCall)
Welcome back to the weekend Cabral HouseCalls! It's great to have you and I can't wait to get into today's community questions - Let's get started! Anonymous: Hi Dr Cabral, Long-time listener (and asker of questions). Here's my entire health history, in a TINY nutshell: - Lifelong history of terrible nutrition: I was raised on sugar and have craved (and consumed) sugary, fatty, terrible food for as long as I can remember. Despite this poor diet, I have always been athletic and obsessed with strength and fitness. - For my entire adult life (I am 37) I have experienced recurring fungal skin infections, all over body, and bloating. - 5-6 years ago, I started suffering from persistent anxiety attacks. I did nothing to treat the anxiety, other than learn not to freak out during an attack. Over time (6-7 months) the attacks, pretty much disappeared. - 9 months ago, out of nowhere, I developed a nasty wheezing cough, that would come and go, and which was, eventually, diagnosed as LPR. I started to rely on an albuterol inhaler for my asthma. I have tried many approaches to treating this, including eliminating stress, taking melatonin at night, and drastically changing my diet, all to limited success. SO…anxiety, fungal infections with bloating, LPR. I am, now, one month into your candida and bacterial overgrowth protocol. Without doubt, this has made a difference: I've lost fat, I don't tend to need my inhaler, my fungal skin infections seem to be pretty much non-existent, and (this is a little embarrassing) my wife no longer suffers a yeast infection EVERY time we have sex: this was the case for years. (Is this a definite sign of candida?) I work out 6 days a week (weights 3 times, cardio 3 times), practice intermittent fasting (16/8), and am allowing myself 1 (healthy) cheat meal per week, including a small dessert. (I do, also, have 1 cup of black coffee every morning...I hope this is okay?!) Anyway, all in all, I am doing much better than I was. However, I do find that these symptoms persist: tension in diaphragm (anxiety?), lump in throat, excessive burping, and tightness in lungs. But, here's the interesting thing that I hope you can shed some light on: my symptoms seem to be (and this has always been the case) manifesting as part of a cycle. What happens is, I'll go about a week with virtually no symptoms, and then the symptoms start to kick in, and gradually worsen, over the course of about 7-10 days. Typically, it'll start with the tension in the diaphragm, then burping and throat issues, then some asthma-like symptoms of tightness in the lungs (although I don't seem to get the wheeziness that used to be there), and anxiety is always accompanying these. After this 7-10 day period, the symptoms start to slowly go away, and I have a decent week or so. I don't change my diet or lifestyle, in any way. It feels like as soon as I start to think "hey, maybe I'm starting to heal," the symptoms return. It's incredibly frustrating and demoralizing. With all of that being said, I wondered if this persistent cycle of symptoms is something you're familiar with, and/or if my description tells you something that I haven't considered. Also, how much of a role do thoughts (both negative and positive) play in this? Is it possible that ALL of my symptoms are caused by stress/negativity? I ask because I have tended toward negative, depressed, thoughts for as long as I can remember, and I definitely feel physically worse when I'm depressed/stressed. At this stage, I feel that my best course of action is to continue the candida/bacterial overgrowth protocol, work on stress-reduction, and hope that the symptoms start to become less and less over time. Thanks so much for doing what you do. Your podcast has been an absolute life-saver and continues to help me through some very dark times. LaSandra: Hello, Dr. Cabral! Thank you so much for your commitment to helping everyone you possibly can. Your health recovery story is such an inspiration to me! I'm writing to get your advice about Meniere's Disease. For an entire year, I suffered from daily migraines and vertigo. I saw a naturopath who suspected that the root cause was extreme adrenal fatigue as I had undergone a 10 month span of extreme stress just before the vertigo started. I have since been able to manage my migraines better through stress reduction, dietary changes and acupuncture. However, I have occasional bouts of vertigo that seem more Meniere's in nature. I get debilitating vertigo with hearing loss and tinnitus in my right area. The episode lasts a day or so, and then I recover completely which is very different from the ongoing milder vertigo I experienced with migraines. It seems that western medicine doesn't have much to offer when it comes to vestibular issues. I would love any advice you have as the general attitude about Meniere's seems to be that you can't treat it or control it (aside from reducing sodium intake) and just have to hope for the best, but you'll

The fastest way to get rid of bloating, digestive issues, and fatigue is by finding out the culprit that is causing these symptoms... Ep 543543: Discover the 6 Phases of Toxicity (TWT)
Homotoxicology is an almost unheard of system of medicine, but it's been practiced for over 100 years... Even some of the best integrative doctors in the world are unaware of the "6 phases of toxicity" and how they account for every imaginable "disease" we've named... I was fortunate enough to learn it while studying Naturopathy and then later becoming certified in this form of medicine... I consider it to be a cornerstone of helping people get well - Because if you don't know how the "disease" got there in the first place you certainly can't help someone reverse it... Ep 541541: 23andMe, HealthCoach Question, Low Libido, Recurring UTI, Eye Health, Rebuild the Body (HouseCall)
Thank you for tuning back into our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend where we're answering more of our community's questions on all things wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging! Here are today's Q&A topics: Larissa: Hi, I've already tested my DNA through 23andMe. I was wondering if you or your clinic would interpret the raw data that I already have and offer diet/lifestyle recommendations from that. I carry one APOE-ε3 allele and one APOE-ε4 allele. I was wondering if that means a Ketogenic diet (high in healthy fats) would be beneficial or maybe not at all. I've already experimented with Paleo (but I think I was consuming too much meat over all) and that, (in addition to a high stress lifestyle) led to leaky gut, parasites, and bacterial imbalances (IBS symptoms). I experimented with Gluten Free Veganism and consumed a lot of high carb veggies, potatoes, beans, and rice. After doing a parasite cleanse, I did an Organix Acid test and it said I wasn't processing all the carbs. So I think I was over doing it on the carbs and maybe should live a more middle road approach. I'm on the mends from healing my gut finally but was wondering what the best diet would be for me moving forward once I'm healed. Thank you! I really enjoy listening to your podcasts! :) Catherine: Hi Dr. Cabral, I recently graduated as a certified Integrative Health Coach from IIN. One of my first clients is a mysterious case. He says when he was born he came out all black and blue and from that moment till about 20 he was prescribed massive amounts of antibiotics. He was recently diagnosed with Squamous cell carcinoma and had a huge cyst removed from his back. He now says they diagnosed Cellulitis for many gaping wounds on his legs. Now here's the kicker...he works at a health food store and has gone through every protocol to kill this bacteria that is causing severe inflammation. He says he has taken all the probiotics like Syntol, CBD oil, silver, oil of oregano etc. You name it he's done it. He is a hard core Paleo follower only eating organic grass fed beef, lots of fruit and veggies and no processed food. I think he should lean more plant based, and address his Primary Food, like the lack of support system and finances and spirituality. Maybe hypnosis or visualization. I know you had major issues with rebuilding your body after all those antibiotics and I told him you could be a real asset in finding the solution to his underlying fungus issues. I look forward to listening to your podcast every day. You are amazing and one day I would love to collaborate as one of your health coaches to help you bring your practice to the masses. Your work truly has a ripple effect that reaches and is helping to heal the world. Thanks and God bless, Catherine Ps- I am now using a the same PEMF technology that NASA uses in hopes of improving his micro circulation so the body can begin to heal itself. If you are interested please feel free to reach out. Adriana: Hi Dr. Cabral! My question is regarding my boyfriend, we´ve been dating for four years now and I have to say that sex WAS amazing for the first three years and a frustration over the last year since we moved together, he has very low libido so we have sex once a month and sometimes not even once!! He is 32 years old and lifts weights 3-4 times a week, he participated in body building competitions when he was 16-18 years old and did very strict diets back then, his brother had thyroid nodules and I´m wondering if his low libido has something to do with something physical, maybe adrenal fatigue or thyroid issues (I listened a podcast of yours regarding this). One more thing, he told me it´s been a pattern since he started having sex, his libido is totally fine for no more than two years, after that time it disappears and his old girlfriends with it. He thinks it might be something psychological and has started seeing a therapist but I insist it might be something else. Thanks sooooo much for your help!! Adriana Flor: I keep having reoccurring UTI's. I've been to my primary doctor several times and they keep prescribing antibiotics. The pain is so bad sometimes I can't walk, i want out of this cycles. Where do you suggest I start? Tennille: Hi Stephen, appreciate what you do each day. amazing that you are helping make a difference. listening from Trinidad and Tobago each day. straight to my question. how to improve eye health? i have recently taken meat out of my diet and noticed my vision has become a little blurred. Kellie: Hello Dr. Cabral- I started listening to your podcasts about 4-5 months ago and I have to say you really turn much of what we know on its head. Ep 540540: Sauna Question, Natural Sunscreen Recipe, Folliculitis, Corn Allergy, Heavy Metal Detox, Toothpaste Recommendation, Wrong Diet for BodyType (HouseCall)
Welcome to this weekend's Cabral HouseCall show! I'm looking forward to seeing what we have this week for questions from our community, so let's get started! Carol: Hi Dr. Cabral, You talk about the benefits of dry saunas, but our gym has a steam bath. Is Steam as good as dry heat; please explain the differences! Thanks for all you do! Carol Saralyn: I own an asphalt company and we burn through the sunscreen, literally! I would love the recipe that you talked about on this podcast! Anonymous: Hello, Thank you for the hope you offer us through the sharing of your knowledge! My question is regarding Folliculitis. My husband battles this once or twice a year on his thighs. It typically happens when he works in hot wx wearing jeans. Is there an alternative to using an RX to treat this? Thank you, Anonymous Lauren: Hi! Thank you for everything you do, my family and I love to sit around and discuss what you've taught us! I just got back the results of my food sensitivity test, and it says I need to avoid corn. I am wondering if that includes popcorn? It's my favorite snack and I can't help but wonder if the fact that it is dried could alter the danger of it. Thanks for helping a fearful corn-lover out! Jen: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have two questions. Whenever I eat any grains, I feel tired, bloated, my nose gets stuffed up and I sometimes even get moody and I feel like it gets worse every time I try a little here and there. I've also had two root canals and recently all my old amalgam fillings removed except one small one. I feel like there is a lot of toxic build up in my body as a result. What would you recommend for a heavy metal and deep cell detox? I've heard you talk a little about removing toxins in the home as well and I am wondered if you have a list of brand names you trust in your own home or natural homemade recommendations for replacing things like dish soap, laundry detergent, household cleaners, shampoo/conditioner, makeup, etc. with safer products? Love your podcast and am so grateful for all you do! Thank you! Jodi: You recommended two different toothpastes; Jason's and Lucky's. Do you have a preference? Stacie: I'm a 45 year old 135 5'8 female. I don't know where to start. I have symptoms for histamine intolerance, Mthfr, and leaky gut. I do feel like mybstints doing GAPS has helped my histamine tolerance to some degree. I have been Paleo and GF for 4+ years, I tend to stay quite low carb high fat(rarely going over 60 carbs) i eat all organic, grass fed meats and fats. Most days I do intermittent fasting. I am an ectomorph and have been doing crossfit 4+ years. I tend to be more strict on calories and carbs when I can't do crossfit due to injury ( which is my current situation) I am an excessive all or nothing, high stress person. I do drink wine ( I go through phases where I will have several glasses a night) and coffee (trying to quit the caffeine). For the last few years i have battled ligament after ligament injury. I have torn both acls (1 just a month ago), Achilles, plantar facitis, shin splints and currently tendonitis on both elbows. I am quite sure I am drastically deficient in minerals, specifically magnesium. I also wonder what hormone issues I have as I did 3 years of IVF and fertility treatments (failed- ended up adopting). Long story, what tests and protocols do you suggest and in what order? What do you suggest I do with diet? Thank you for your amazing podcast!! Just found it and I'm hooked! Stacie: Forgot to also mention that joints always hurt and low energy throughout day. Also, my daughter (adopted at 2 1/2 from China )who is almost 8 has asthma and myriad of skin issues. Most skin issues are better since GF abut still has atheletes foot, sweaty hands, asthma - what do you recommend for her? THank you!! Ep 534534: Weight Loss Testing, Food Sensitivity Reliability, SIBO vs. H. Pylori, Pregnancy Protocol, Low Stomach Acid, Combining Supplements, Supplement Add-Ons (HouseCall)
We're back with day 2 of the Cabral HouseCall and I'm looking forward to sharing with you some brand new questions that have come in over the past few weeks! Let's get started with today's Q&A! Jennett: Hello Dr. Cabral, I sent you a message about a week ago asking about why Im having a hard time losing some weight around my hips, legs and why I cannot get rid of my cellulite on the front and back side of my thighs. I realized I hadn't told you much about my body type and thought it might help in order for you to have a better idea of what might be going on. I am in my early 40's and weigh around 135 but I seem to have more fat than muscle tone and Ive always battled cellulite and estrogen dominance. I went to a natrapathic doctor when I received the estrogen dominance diagnosis and he put me on some supplements that balanced me out and that was about two years ago but I notice I do have extra weight on my thighs and butt as well as a little on my stomach (muffin top) I definitely don't have all the symptoms I had such as low thyroid, constant heart palpitations, night sweats, adrenal fatigue, etc. Though I still experience a few symptoms like breakouts when I drink coffee more than a couple times a week, I don't sleep through the night or feel rested when I wake and as soon as I lay down, my nose gets stuffy and I have little to no sex drive. I'm a mesomorph, pear shape body type and type O blood so I don't know if what I eat plays into any of that and with so many diets out there. its overwhelming to know where to start. Thank you for all of your help!! I am so grateful for what you do! Jen Anonymous: Hi, I recently did your SIBO & Candida protocol with fantastic results. I'm now one month into your gut healing products and suddenly I'm experiencing the severe stomach bloat again. I'm considering your food sensitivity test but there's so much information from various trusted resources that these types of tests aren't reliable. I've done many elimination diets and just can't seem to get conclusive results. Is there something unique about your food sensitivity test that makes it reliable? As a side note I also just submitted my labs for your thyroid test. Thank you so much for your help! Anonymous: Hello again! I seem to have many upper GI issues: reflux, indigestion, nausea, upper GI pain that when bad enough I vomit. This vomiting is usually brought on by large amounts of food or multiple types of food in one sitting. I also have gas, belching, bloating, but no issues with constipation or diarrhea. Blood and breath test ruled out h.pylori and Stool test ruled out parasites. According to your TWT shows on leaky gut, the only culprit left is SIBO. With most of my issues located in my upper abdominal region, does it mean the bacterial overgrowth is mostly in my upper GI, possibly stomach? Or could it be gallbladder issues? I'm seeing a naturopath and she put me on the GI pathogen purge from systemic formulas but also gave me 500 billion CFU probiotic packets with many different stains that I took for the first week during the pathogen purge. I understand that this is something that many practitioners tend to do but shouldn't. Could that possibly be why my SIBO seemed to clear up but 3 months later I'm getting these symptoms all over again. Thanks for your help, you are amazing and I deeply appreciate your passion to help everyone you can. Tracey: I am 4 months pregnant. I just listened to your pregnancy podcast. What daily protocol should I be taking. Thanks for your help. Anonymous: Hi Stephen, could you do a podcast on low stomach acid and how best to heal it? I have read how it causes all these other problems that I have been dealing with; dry skin, adrenal fatigue, autoimmune (hypothyroid)... I drink a glass of lemon water most mornings and it almost instantly makes my stomach feel more settled but other than that and maybe taking digestive enzymes before meals (could you recommend a good one?) is there anything else that can significantly help? and how long should it approximately take for this to heal? Thanks for your awesomeness :) Lindsey: Hello, I had a question about two specialty supplements that I wanted to purchase. I recently heard Dr. Cabral's podcast pertaining to how to heal a leaky gut. I decided I wanted to complete his entire protocol to heal any problems I may have with my microbiome. From what I understand, his program starts with wiping out first the H. Pylori, parasites, yeast and bacteria, and then begin repairing and replenishing with his daily gut repair supplements and daily probiotics. So my question is, can I use the healthy belly supplement to wipe out h. Pylori and the parasite protocol supplements at the same time? Or must they be done separately? Thank you, Lindsey Lindsey: Hi Stephen, I am writing back as I feel I have received different responses by yourself and the support group and I want to try and clear things up. I have the candida protocol at home ready to start, I w
Ep 533533: Sugar Addict, Grill Mats, Parasite vs. Candida Cleanse Order, Post-Natal Exercise, Travel Stomach Sickness (HouseCall)
Welcome to day 1 of the Cabral HouseCalls! As always we have some amazing questions that have come in from our community and we're going to cover so much related to wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging, so let's get started! Here are today's questions: Sabreena: Hi Dr.Cabral, can't thank you enough for sharing your wealth of knowledge with all of us listeners. Your podcast is so valuable! Over the past year i have been getting frequent UTI symptoms that will pop up and then go away within a few hours. (drinking alkaline water often contributed to the frequency) i am mostly plant based and health conscious, but i didn't think much of it until i started to see small red and dry spots showing up on my skin!!! it led me to connect the clues! i was on birth control for 10 years and recently got off and definitely have some of the symptoms often attributed to an unhealthy gut or unbalanced microflora. my friends tell me not to self diagnose but i have come to realize that i may have a yeast or candida overgrowth?! i am going to get your candida protocol but i wanted to check and get your input before i made the big purchase. thank you so much for giving all your listeners the hope we need to get through these health battles big and small! can't wait to get your feedback. Derek: Hi Dr. Cabral. I've been watching your podcasts for a while now and they've been really informative both for myself and helping others. I've been doing a lot of research and studying on enlarged pores as it's still something I'm struggling with. Protein absorption, clay masks, collagen protein, and overall digestive health are all things that I believe can help, but I feel like I'm still missing something. Am I on the right track? Is there anything else you would recommend? Thank you! Stephanie: Hello! I have been an avid disciple of yours for several years now! So whenever I hear something that seems a little off or strange, I come to you first. A dear friend of mine is seeing a nutritionist that I recommended to her based on my personal experiences. I had an IgG blood test performed by this nutritionist who also helped me with a Magnesium and Vitamin D deficiency. They have been working together for a year now and the nutritionist told my friend not to bother to work out. She said that my friend does not produce testosterone, therefore cannot build muscle, which is why she cannot lose weight. She told her not to bother to lift weights because she has such little testosterone that she's essentially wasting her time. I am a trained health coach and like you I am constantly reading books, medical journals, etc., and found her comment to be very strange. I was taught that lifting weights was actually a natural way to build testosterone, but my friend says the nutritionist has her taking a cream instead. In the year they've been working together my friend has actually gained 10 lbs and is more miserable than before. She had an IgG blood test and avoids the foods that cause her inflammation. She also has Candida and has admitted that she's not been really great with treating that (she's a bonified sugar addict). I am just wondering if the nutritionist is correct, or if she's just trying to keep my friend coming in for the $150 a month office visit (she's also a chiropractor) and the large profit margins on her supplements, or if there is any truth to her statment? Your thoughts? Michelle: Hello again Dr. Cabral! You continue to amaze me with all of your knowledge and thank you so much for sharing it so selflessly! We all appreciate it more than you know. I'm not sure if you have seen this product but wanted your thoughts on it -- the Pocco Grill Mat. It's used to "protect" your food on the grill or smoker but I would use it more as a way to cook smaller items, like vegetables without them falling through. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks as always and stay well, Michelle Julie: Hi, I'm looking to purchase The Parasite Clease and Candida & Bacterial overgrowth Protocols then follow with The Healthy Gut Support! :) My questions are... Can the Parasite Cleanse and Candida Protocol be done at the same time? I have Graves disease with a Total Thyroidectomy, currrently on NDT and T3 mediation, I'm also trying to address a fatty Liver, Iow Iron, Adrenal issues ect... Will these products have any adverse effects? Many Thanks Julie Lene: Hi, I just started listening to your podcast all the way from Norway, and I especially enjoy the mindset and motivation ones. As a matter of fact I just got twins three moths ago, and I listen to you podcast whenever we are out on a stroll. I cant see that you have covered these topics before, but I might just have missed it. I know this is a topic only relevant to half the population, but I still would appreciate it! So, I was only pregnant for 7 months before they decided to arrive with c-section. During my whole pregnancy I struggled with pelvic girdle pain, but this is gone now. Except fr
Ep 532532: Clean Colon Power Pack, Intestinal Cleanse Protocol, Favorite Doctor (FR)
On today's #FridayReview I'm excited to share with you an intestinal cleanse protocol I "affectionately" refer to as the "Clean Colon Power Pack..." It grabs onto and removes bacteria, parasites, and decaying fecal matter from infecting the rest of your body... It's also excellent for occasional constipation, as well as during and after a Candida, SIBO, or Parasite protocol to remove any die-off... Today, I also share one of my favorite "old school" doctor's of all time and one of his books on "proper bowel management." Ep 531531: How to Flush Out Inflammation & Sore Muscles (TT)
Eventually you're going to hit your limit... We all do, and when that happens our body becomes inflamed, sore, and run down... Although this can be caused by a toxic environment, eating the wrong foods, stress, pharmaceutical drugs, or some other reason, the easiest example to see of inflammation overload is when we workout... Although exercise is essential for a healthy, strong functioning body, it still does create tissue breakdown and inflammation... However, how we deal with that inflammation is the key to feeling energized versus exhausted... Ep 530530: How to Cure Constipation (WW)
There are some health issues that most people don't like to discuss... They get a little shy talking about them. But, if you don't share everything with your holistic doctor or health coach, they can't fully help you solve your current imbalances... This is why I ask everyone I see in my practice if they are having at least 1 healthy, unforced, bowel movement per day... If this isn't happening, the likelihood of getting completely well or losing the weight is low... There are many reasons why I say this, but simply put your 28 feet of digestive tract holds the key to your long-term health and if it isn't functioning optimally it's going to affect every other system in your body... Tune into today's #CabralConcept 530 for how to cure constipation and regulate your digestive tract to achieve the health, wellness, and weight loss you may desire - Enjoy the show! - - - Show Notes: http://StephenCabral.com/530 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 529529: The Food Poisoning Fix & H. Pylori Treatment Options (TWT)
It's happened to at least one person you know... At one point or another you go on vacation or out to dinner and someone gets violently sick... They're throwing up. They have diarrhea. And, they literally can't hold down any food or liquids... This of course is a great cause for concern and something needs to be done ASAP... Luckily, if you know the fix before it happens you'll always know how to treat the condition and not just the symptoms... Tune into today's #CabralConcept 529 to learn the food poisoning fix and how to get rid of an h. pylori stomach infection - Enjoy the show! - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/529 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 528528: How to Stop Feeling So Overwhelmed (MM)
Although I'm a big believer in goal setting, sometimes we can take it too far... Many of us are prone to setting big goals - Some of which won't even be achieved for months or years into the future... And while that's not necessarily a bad thing, it can leave you feeling like a failure or light years away from your goal on a day to day basis... This is why we need to have a better practice set up in our daily life for measuring our success or we're always going to feel unsatisfied with our life... Tune into today's #CabralConcept 528 to discover how to stop feeling so overwhelmed and instead start being happier and more relaxed in your every day life - Enjoy the show! - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.om/528 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 527527: Binge Eating, Cancer Markers, Cleansing While Pregnant, Gut Rebuilding Order, Auto-Immune Thyroid, Where to Start (HouseCall)
Thank you for checking back in for our 2nd #CabralConcept of the weekend! We'll be answering more of our community's questions today, so let's get started: Angela: Hi Dr. Cabral, I would like to start by thanking you for everything that you do! Your daily podcasts have changed my health and life in many ways and a simple thank you just isn't enough. My question is regarding my inability to find balance. I have a very binge-like lifestyle. I can be dedicated to 21 days of only low glycemic foods while following the Dr. Cabral Detox meal plan. I also stay active with a balanced workout plan, and many other nutrition tips and staples you have suggested. BUT THEN... a holiday will come about or I find myself in a situation where I can not stop eating deliciously poisonous foods (and drinking beer!!). I was wondering if you have any tips or tricks you have used with clients before that help them finally achieve a balanced lifestyle? Are there any systematic approaches you use like getting off of caffeine or any mindfulness hacks of some sort? Anything helps! Thank you Lauren: Hi Steve, Unfortunately, My grandma a few months ago was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Being that it is such a terrible cancer that is hard to detect, can you please recommend which blood tests or biomarkers my father(her son) should be getting? I really want him to go to a functional doctor and get a variety of tests but, I was hoping for some direction. He works a very stressful non-stop job as a chef/owner and is very thin as he never takes a break even to eat at times throughout the day. Now with my grandma's cancer & the history of cancer in that side of the family, I want to make sure I stay on top of his health and figure out what he should get tested for to see if he carries that gene mutation etc. Lastly, where would one go for this kind of testing? We live in LI close to NYC Thank you! Priscilla: Hi Dr. Cabral, I love listening to your podcasts and feel like each one has something applicable to me! My question is: I already know I have parasites, but I am 12 weeks pregnant and I know some of the herbs typically used to get rid of them are not safe during pregnancy. Is there anything I can do while I'm pregnant? I appreciate your suggestions and guidence so much. Thank you! Gina: I would like to do the Healthy Belly, Parasite Cleanse Protocol and the Candida & Bacterial Complete Protocol. Can I do them all at once or do I need to start with Healthy Belly followed by Parasite Cleanse and lastly the Candida & Bacterial Complete Protocol? Thank you, Gina Eva: Hello Dr. Cabral, I am studying holistic nutrition and your podcasts are inspiring to me! My question is: My recent check up showed I have very high Thyroglobulin Antibodies (421) and very high Thyroperoxidase Antibodies (186), although my TSH, T3 and T4 are within normal ranges. In addition my vitamin D and ferritin is low (I plan on starting supplements) and my Neutrophils are low. I also have inflammation (which manifests as heat and pain) in both my knuckles. Are any of these related? My doctor said they don't treat high thyroid antibodies since my thyroid hormones are normal, but I have been reading conflicting opinions. What would you suggest for me? (My diet is fairly healthy, I don't eat meat or dairy but I do eat gluten) Thank you soooo much Dr. Cabral I will continue to listen to your podcast religiously it has become my daily routine. Claudia Keiran: Dear Dr. Cabral thank you so much for your wonderful work try to help folks in need like me. I was diagnosed with Thyroiditis ( Hashimotto) 2014. Spend money that I don't have I am a immigrant from Brasil and I am a house cleaner. So I did follow and buy products from differents folks that I this point is worthless to say names even though you may know all them. I understand and been very honest that we need to survive and use wellness and diseases for this purposes but I can't afford anymore. I heard you episode 515 about Athi Pilory ( don't know to write) bacteria and I need help a serious one, I can't sleep, losing my memory , work out, do yoga , eat clean, no dairy, no gluten, no sugar and I gain and lose weight and I lot of fatigue. I take vitamins, real live probiotics, magnesium, zinc, glucosamine, digestives enzymes, omega. I don't know what else I can do and don't get better. I agree with you about the bacteria if you don't kill won't get better. So do you think you really can help me?! Please answer me. Thank you so much . I appreciate all your work not only for me if we work together but for others too. I hope you enjoyed today's show and be sure to check back in tomorrow for our Motivation & Mindset Monday! - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/527 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 526526: Hormone Balance, Green Tea Reaction, White Spots on Skin, Oxalates, Greens Reaction, Lab Choices (HouseCall)
Welcome to another weekend of the Cabral HouseCalls! I'm excited to share with you our community Q&A and many other tips we add in along the way... Here are today's questions: Asheley: Hi Dr. Cabral, I enjoy listening to your podcast. I am interested in purchasing a lab test, specifically the Hormone & Adrenal Package or the Organic Acids Test, or both and eventually other tests. I recently took a blood test and found out that I have mild anemia, and my thyroid is on the low side of normal. My menstrual cycle is very irregular. My period can last for about 2 weeks with a lot of spotting for days, and a few days of consistently heavy bleeding with clots. I have fibrocystic breasts, so I avoid caffeine when I can and the pain has diminished. I have skin problems as well including acne on my shoulders and back, hyperpigmentation from acne scars on my face, back, and shoulders, some eczema between my fingers, and an occasional boil/carbuncle on my back. I have considered the gaps diet but I don't know where to start. It seems difficult to start and maintain a gaps diet. My CBC lab results are: WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT - My Value: 6.7 Thousand/uL Standard Range: 3.8 ‐ 10.8 Thousand/uL RBC - My Value: 4.23 Million/uL Standard Range: 3.80 ‐ 5.10 Million/uL Hemoglobin - My Value: 11.1 g/dL Standard Range: 11.7 ‐ 15.5 g/dL (My Hemoglobin value is slightly low) Hematocrit - My Value: 35.6 % Standard Range: 35.0 ‐ 45.0 % MCV - My Value: 84.2 fL Standard Range: 80.0 ‐ 100.0 fL MCH - My Value: 26.2 pg Standard Range: 27.0 ‐ 33.0 pg (My MCH value is Low) MCHC - My Value: 31.2 g/dL Standard Range: 32.0 ‐ 36.0 g/dL (My MCHC is Low) RDW - My Value: 14.0 % Standard Range: 11.0 ‐ 15.0 % Platelets - My Value: 216 Thousand/uL Standard Range: 140 ‐ 400 Thousand/uL MPV - My Value: 12.8 fL Standard Range: 7.5 ‐ 12.5 fL My TSH Results: TSH, 3RD GENERATION 1.58 mIU/L mIU/L Reference Range > or = 20 Years 0.40‐4.50 I am a 25(almost 26) year old female and I am not pregnant. My Free T4 Results are: Free T4 - My Value: 0.9 ng/dL Standard Range: 0.8 ‐ 1.8 ng/dL From my symptoms and lab results I know I have mild anemia, and I probably have estrogen dominance or hormonal imbalance and candida overgrowth or imbalanced gut flora. My questions are: Which lab test should I order first? For the Hormone and Adrenal test, when do I take the test? My menstrual cycle is so irregular that I do not know consistently when is 5-7 days before Day 1 of my Cycle. Can I just take it any day that I am not on my period? What foods and supplements do you suggest for balancing my hormones? Thank you for your help Lizbeth: Hi, I've noticed that my body reacts negatively to green tea with stomach cramps, constipation, inflammation etc. Do you know why this is possible, and what can I replace green tea with? I'm trying to stay away from coffee. Plus, I've heard all of the good properties it has, but my body seems to hate me when I use it. Thank you for all the information you are providing. I've learned so much, and I'm still learning much more from you. I'm even listening to all your old podcasts from the beginning! Thank you, thank you thank you!!!! Thomas: Hello Dr. Cabral Love your show. As I get into my 40's I have noticed more and more white spots on my skin popping up. Especially on the arms. Is there anything that can be done about that or is it just what happens as you get older? Can it be reversed? Thanks Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral, What is your opinion on oxolates and the excessive consumption of dark, leafy greens? My diet is heavy with the daily consumption of green smoothies and juices, and salads with bitter greens, and cooked greens. Is this something that should be concerning? Also, what is your opinion on alkaloids? I rotate my greens weekly to avoid over consumption. Should this be concerning, as well? Many thanks! Bettina: Hi, Thanks for all your amazing help. I did your 21 day detox about a month ago and it was life changing. I thought I was healthy before doing it so didn't know what to expect, and you exceeded my expectations. My body has even more energy and my brain seems so much clearer. So to continue this amazing feeling I now do your shake in the morning and the greens powder too. But I am experiencing a problem that really needs some help. I've been taking the greens powder and shake every morning for the last 3 weeks. About 2 weeks ago I started having horrible gas problems. I know its not the shake because I never had that while on the detox. Previous to the detox I ate a very plant based diet and eat no gluten. One of the things I did find amazing since going off gluten a couple of years ago and sticking to a plant based (with protein at night) diet was how little gas I created. But now it was returned to the point that the smell is waking me up at night (and unfortunately my husband too). I find that legumes give me gas too so I never do them, now or prior to the detox. I so want to continue taking the greens powder but do you thin

I then talk about how and why the current conventional medicine model is broken without any signs of ever being fixed... Plus, on today's show I recap my favorite new sauna, myoball for releasing muscle tension, and a new feature for getting your questions answered... Ep 524524: How 19 Minutes of This Reduces All Causes of Death by 40% (New Research) (TT)
If a drug were ever created that could reduce hearts by 60+% and any cause of death by 40%, every human would be taking it... It would literally be the first 10 trillion dollar drug and be given out like a multi-vitamin to take daily... The interesting thing is that this "drug" already does exist and a large-scale study was done over 2 years ago proving its efficacy, but I believe it's been kept under wraps for a number of reasons... One of those reasons being that you don't need to go to your doctor for a prescription and it's actually a form of natural detoxification that only takes 19 minutes per day to produce those remarkable life-saving results... Tune into today's #CabralConcept 524 for all the research, details, and how you can reap these same benefits in your life - Enjoy the show! - - - Show Noted & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/524 - - - Get Your Questions Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 523523: The "One Day Reset" Diet Explained (WW)
Let's face it, you're going to go out with friends, family, co-workers, or on a holiday and eat a few foods and drinks that maybe aren't the healthiest... You know that they're not the best choices, but part of life is also enjoying a few meals out with good people and letting loose... I lean more towards the belief that you'd actually be unhealthier not doing this... And because of this, I created something my private clients have been calling the "One Day Reset" diet. It essentially resets your body to the previous levels of healthy inflammation, blood sugar, hormones, etc. Tune into today's #CabralConcept 523 where I explain the entire One Day Reset Diet and how you can download it for free today - Enjoy the show! - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/523 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
Ep 522522: Getting Pregnant & Having a Healthy Happy Pregnancy (Pre, Peri & PostNatal Recommendations) (TWT)
Many people don't know this, but in ancient times (and still some places it's still practiced today) there was always a specific pre, peri, and postnatal plan. The prenatal plan focused on preparing the woman's (and man's) body for conception, while the perinatal prescription was comprised of healthy living, eating, and other recommendations while pregnant... And finally, detailed postnatal recommendations were given to ensure a healthy mom and baby after the birth... These measures included detoxification protocols, rest, specific foods to eat, and much more. And, on today's #CabralConcept 522 we explore these fertility issues, as well as how to have the healthiest pregnancy possible - enjoy the show! - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/522 - - - Get Your Questions Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral
