Closing With A Song: “Intergalactic” by Beastie Boys

Cleansing my palate after countrying it up for a week, we spin right over to Beastie Boys. And what a perfect video to pair with doing a Godzilla movie on Monday than the Kaiju inspired “Intergalactic”. This video rules and we are here for every second of it. Aaron Neuwirth returns and is a huge Beastie Boys fanatic and there was no way I wasn’t having him for my first dive into them. Due to copyright and fair use laws as well as Apple and Spotify sweeps for such things, I’m not going to roll the dice and be including a clip of the song in the episode. However, you can watch the entire video before listening right here. Shin Godzilla (2016) with Aaron Neuwirth

Enjoy Godzilla Vs Kong over the last week? I did! I’m following that movie up with a discussion on the 2016 Toho refresh, Shin Godzilla. Not only is it a fresh take on the series that has 30+ entries, it’s also one of the best Godzilla films ever made. Perhaps the best since the original. This film won the Japanese academy award for Best Picture even. It was a huge box office success and was rather well liked. Having done the entire Showa era on the previous show a year ago, it was nice to catch up with ‘ol radiation breath again. Also catching up is Aaron Neuwirth, who makes his return to the show. Aaron is the biggest Godzilla expert and fan that I know and it’s always a fun and educational time talking Kaiju with him. If you’ve never seen Shin Godzilla before – seek it out! I’m of the mind that even the biggest Godzilla skeptic or person who just doesn’t care about this stuff would enjoy this movie. 0:00:52 – Catching Up with Aaron Neuwirth0:11:24 – Shin Godzilla Discussion0:51:22 – What Else -Brandon The Brandon Peters Show will return tomorrow (4/6) on YouTube with 4K BLUsday and Wednesday (4/7) on the pods for a new Old Space Show Technical Information VocalsBrandon – Shure SM58-LCAaron – Unknown Microphone (Recorded with Zoom) Post ProductionNCH Wavepad Masters Edition v8.38NCH MixPad Masters v5.22The Levelator 2 RUNTIME: 59 minutes Shin Godzilla is available on Blu-ray and DVD. Closing With A Song: “The Thunder Rolls” by Garth Brooks

Yup, I’ve gone country! No need to discriminate. All genres made music videos good and bad. Garth Brooks was one of the biggest artists of the 90s and this might be his most significant contribution to the art form. I’d been holding on to this one until the right guest came around, and Mike Vanderbilt was one I knew would be up for taking this one on. And he didn’t disappoint. This conversation is pretty good and honest and delves into not just the video but who Garth was to pop culture and music at the time. Due to copyright and fair use laws as well as Apple and Spotify sweeps for such things, I’m not going to roll the dice and be including a clip of the song in the episode. Old Space Show: Quantum Leap “Genesis”

We begin again on Old Space Show. Quantum Leap is one of my all time favorite shows in the history of television. A historical anthology drama with a science fiction twist was one of the most endearing and impressive shows. The first season is short and still finding its way and is quite interesting upon revisiting. It starts with the TV movie special Genesis, which is also recut as Genesis Part 1 and Genesis Part 2. We do talk about both as I watched one and my companion did the other. Tony Schaab from the Sciencefiction.com is the Companion for Quantum Leap. Old Space Show: Quantum Leap begins NEXT WEEK! Bobbie Jo And The Outlaw (1976) with Mike Vanderbilt

Mike Vanderbilt is back! After meeting on the Jason Goes To Hell Episode last year, I knew I’d be bringing him back regularly. I really enjoy discussing films, film history and research and we are on a pretty strong wavelength in that regard. Plus, his knowledge and bravado impresses me and I hope you as well. He’s bringing 1976’s Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw on the show, which I’d never seen before. The conversation is fun and spirals all around the film, its era and its players. While some may seem a bit off track, it stemmed out from something to do with the movie and is quite a good discussion in itself. We also talk about Mike’s terrific youthful podcast The Windy City Double Feature Picture Show. It’s an impressively deep dive into Chicago filmgoing culture of the 70s and 80s (Other decades too) that goes beyond being entertaining for straight film discussion. This was an incredibly fun, entertaining and interesting conversation to be part of and I hope Mike and I entertain you the listener as well! 0:00:53 – Mike Vanderbilt Interview0:15:54 – Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw Discussion0:55:10 – What Else -Brandon The Brandon Peters Show will return tomorrow (3/26) on YouTube with 4K BLUsday and Wednesday (3/27) on the pods for a new Old Space Show Technical Information VocalsBrandon – Shure SM58-LCMike – Yeti (Recorded with Zoom) Post ProductionNCH Wavepad Masters Edition v8.38NCH MixPad Masters v5.22The Levelator 2 RUNTIME: 71 minutes Bobbie Jo And The Outlaw is available on Blu-ray and DVD. Closing With A Song: “Love Is A Battlefield” by Pat Benatar

This felt like a good one to stick with Buffy. Pat Benatar herself was a badass and she also delivered a lot of pretty cool music videos. The pinnacle of them would be “Love Is A Battlefield”, easily. This one tells a story and has a bit of goofiness to it as well. Oh, and it’s the first music video to ever have spoken dialogue in it, too! Jennifer Wreyford returns to discuss the music video, which she had never seen prior to this. She also schools me on the old profession of “Taxi Dancer”. This is a terrific conversation and the reflection on the old art form of the music video continues to be some of the most fun I’m having on the show. Due to copyright and fair use laws as well as Apple and Spotify sweeps for such things, I’m not going to roll the dice and be including a clip of the song in the episode. However, you can watch the entire video before listening right here. Old Space Show: Doctor Who “Revelation Of The Daleks”

I feel like this series just started, but here we are at the finale of Doctor Who: The Colin Baker Era, Year One. Revelation of the Daleks is one of Colin’s most popular stories and it’s not hard to see why. A bit more dark, violent and adult as well as one of the best directed serials in his entire run, the classic villains The Daleks make quite a stamp here and evil Davros is in tow. Rachel Frend from the The Five(ish) Fangirls Podcast and the Gold Standard – Oscars Podcast is the Companion for Doctor Who: The Colin Baker Era. Old Space Show: Quantum Leap begins NEXT WEEK! Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1992) with Jennifer Wreyford

Jennifer Wreyford and I met in a former place of employment and upon first interaction with her, I was immediately captivated and taken with her skill as a speaker, a leader and someone who relatively has a great sense of communication with people. Its no surprise that she’s found a calling in an industry very suit for that and is paving a way for herself. In addition to being certified as a life coach/healer, Jennifer has also started a wonderful podcast (“Courage To Rise”) and is now a published author. Aside from all the professional stuff, she’s also one of the most infectiously fun and enjoyable people to be around. I had no fear stepping outside my comfort zone of entertainment writers and podcasters bringing her onto the show. You’re going to love her radiancy and perspective as she brings a real sense of human understanding, context and depth to our discussion. She’s brought 1992’s Buffy The Vampire Slayer to the show to discuss. Despite the TV series being one of my favorite shows of all time, I still have always enjoyed the film. We have a fruitful discourse about the film but ultimately we have a very thoughtful discussion regarding Joss Whedon and his past behavior that has come into the spotlight and how we are to react and handle his art going forward. And I’d love to hear your thoughts, input and reaction to something like that as well. Overall, this is a fabulous episode of the program. Yeah, I know…aren’t ALL of them, Brandon? Sure, but its a sign that I’m very pleased with how this young show is turning out and doing so with such consistency. 0:00:54 – Jennifer Wreyford Interview0:19:05 – Buffy The Vampire Slayer Discussion0:51:33 – What Else -Brandon The Brandon Peters Show will return tomorrow (3/23) on YouTube with 4K BLUsday and Wednesday (3/24) on the pods for a new Old Space Show Technical Information VocalsBrandon – Shure SM58-LCJennifer – Unknown Microphone (Recorded with Zoom) Post ProductionNCH Wavepad Masters Edition v8.38NCH MixPad Masters v5.22The Levelator 2 RUNTIME: 62 minutes Buffy The Vampire Slayer is available on Blu-ray and DVD. Closing With A Song: “Shot In The Dark” by Ozzy Osbourne

We haven’t really done much in the way of metal on the music video portion. So let’s go back and do some Ozzy Osbourne. “Shot In The Dark” comes from an album he’d rather soon forget, was that due to some legal issues regarding this song or just not enjoying it? We go over that here for you to decide. This video is not your father’s Ozzy. This is some crazy glam-rock Ozzy going on here. From the blonde bouffant hair to the white sparkly gown, the prince of darkness sure does sparkle! The song is pretty killer though. Audery Lane (PopCon International Film Festival) returns and we have a HELL of a lot of fun poking at this one, talking about Ozzy’s importance and much more! Due to copyright and fair use laws as well as Apple and Spotify sweeps for such things, I’m not going to roll the dice and be including a clip of the song in the episode. Old Space Show: Doctor Who “Timelash”

Welp, we had to get here at some point. Timelash is largely considered, voted and judged as being one of the all time worst stories in the entire history of Doctor Who. And…well…we can’t argue much with that. But we sure can take a look at what went wrong, some interesting tid bits it does have and overall just marvel at the missteps of one of the big follies of the Colin Baker era. Rachel Frend from the The Five(ish) Fangirls Podcast and the Gold Standard – Oscars Podcast is the Companion for Doctor Who: The Colin Baker Era.
