Ep 160Pod #160: The Problem With Empathy

[Note: Last change for the 40% the Advanced Tapping Training go here http://bit.ly/gatherdeal] One of the keys to being an emotionally intelligent human being is understanding what the people around us are feeling and experiencing. This skill can be particularly useful when we are helping and caring for others. When it comes to emotional intelligence there is a big difference between empathy and sympathy. Both are can be useful, but for us to be healthy we need to understand the difference between the two and when each is appropriate. In this podcast we explore the difference between these two approaches, the consequences for using the wrong one, and how to be present in a healthy way to loved ones and clients. I would love to hear your experience of how you have been successful and unsuccessful with this issue in your own life.

Ep 159Pod #159: Action, Belief, and Identity - 3 Levels Of Change With Tapping

Day-to-day the things we want to change in our life show up most obviously in the choices that we make. Because of this it makes the most sense to go after trying to transform these choices with tapping. Even if we are successful with our tapping in this way it is often not enough to make long term changes. In addition to the choices we make moment to moment our success is impacted by our beliefs about the world and the identity we world of ourselves. In this conversation with Adele Wang I share how we can understand the difference between actions, belief and identity. We also look at how you can tap on all three levels to ensure we have long term change and transformation.

Ep 158Pod #158: Getting Unstuck w/ Carol Look

I think we all know what it is like to feel stuck. We know what we want to do or we know what we want to change, but for some reason we just can't take action. There is an obvious cost to being stuck. For every passing moment that we don't change the thing we want changed we lose that moment and never get it back. Even more than that, there is another cost to being stuck: all the emotion and energy we spend on the emotions we feel about being stuck. In this interview with Carol Look we talk about the emotional cost of being stuck, how that impacts other parts of our life, and how we can tap for that.

Ep 157Pod #157: Lovership w/ Rick Wilkes

I always find my conversations with Rick Wilkes interesting. Of all of the interviews I do they tend to be the least planned because they are much more interesting conversations than they are traditional interviews. When I email Rick to see what he wanted to chat about this time he replied with the world "lovership". My first thought was, "That sounds great!" and then, "I have no idea what that means." When Rick uses the word lovership he is talking about how we create relationships (that aren't sexual) in a way that is open, transparent, and in congruence with the other person. It is somewhere between making choices out of obligation (saying yes or no without thought) and always saying yes to any request a friend has. It is a state of intentional friendship building. It is a great conversation that will help you to evaluate if your relationships are serving you.

Ep 156Pod #156: How To Share Tapping With Others Without Sounding Like A Wackjob

I love talking about the work I do. When I am meeting someone for the first time I don't jump right into tapping or EFT. I about self-sabotage, limiting beliefs, and emotional healing. At some point in the conversation, because people are so interested in what I do, the conversation turn to how is do it. This means we have to talk about tapping and EFT. Don't get me wrong, I love talking about EFT, but to the uninitiated it is weird. Okay, it's not weird, its *really* weird. Because of this I think we need to be careful in the way we share tapping with other. I am not saying that we should hold anything back or be dishonest, but instead we need to remember where the other person is coming from when we are sharing new information. Here are few simple things to keep in mind when sharing about EFT so that others will be more willing to hear what you are sharing.

Ep 155Pod #155: Creating Emotional Boundaries w/ Rue Hass

I love people who have a natural healing disposition. They see their healing talents as a gift that they want to share will others. Sometimes this giftedness can come with the drawback of many more people than we are capable of helping showing up for help. For helpers and healers it can be hard to create healthy boundaries can be hard. When our boundaries are over run it is easy to simply want to cut ourselves off. In this conversation with Rue Hass we talk about how we can boundaries from a generative and not a defensive posture.

Ep 153Pod #153: Being Comfortable In Your Own Skin (w/ Tap-Along)

When I look at the work that I have done on myself since I discovered tapping I can distill almost every issue down to one thing. Being comfortable inside my own skin. When I am comfortable inside my own skin I am more likely to follow inspiration, I am more likely act with confidence, and I am more likely to see situations as they truly are. If any of those things are true at the time of action I will be much happier with outcome. When all three are true, amazing things happen. In this short audio I explore the importance of being comfortable inside our own skin and provide a short tap-along to nurture this sense. Let me know your thoughts on this idea below.

Ep 152Pod #152: How To Tap For Self-Acceptance

A few weeks ago in podcast #149 we talked about the trouble with saying "I love and accept myself". As we discussed, sometimes it is hard to say and there are also times where it isn't helpful to say. It was a useful discussion you should check out. I was overwhelmed with the response to that podcast. I as I noted in the Best Of 2014 I received the most emails about this particular post in the whole year. One question came up again and again: "How exactly do I tap for self-acceptance?" Here is a simple tool to do just that. You will need to use the Setup Phrase Generator and it only takes a few minutes a day. I would love to hear how this works for you in the comments below.

Ep 151Pod #151: Why Didn't The Surrogate Tapping Cure Her Cancer?

Surrogate tapping is a tricky topic. Tapping itself is difficult enough to explain, but trying to explain how I can tap on my body to promote change in someone else is a whole other level. At that point it sounds like we are talking about woo-woo crap that just can't be true. In the last few weeks I have witnessed some amazing things with surrogate tapping (or at least they appear to be the result of surrogate tapping). First, my sister regularly takes her dog Addison to the vet. Like many animals, Addison gets really nervous when she visits the vet and she especially hates having her nails clipped. When a trip to the vet is scheduled my sister will send me a text so that I can tap for Addison (from the other side of the United States). And next I receive a picture from my sister of Addison lying calmly on the ground completely relaxed and serene. It has happened too many times for me to dismiss this as some kind of coincidence. Second, I have been working with a family with a child who has been diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Over the last six months the family has seen some amazing results with surrogate tapping. A few weeks ago their son started to backslide and lost almost all the progress he had made to date. I put together a short tapping sequence and within a day he not only regained everything the family had achieved from the tapping, but it also triggered a significant clearing and release on a physical level from his system (I won't go into detail here but am sure you get the picture!). Sometimes people ask me how all this works and all I can think to say is, "I have no idea!" With that being said, it doesn't always work. Just because we are surrogate tapping it doesn't mean that progress happens. There are times when we tap and yet we cannot perceive any progress. Two years ago, a very dear friend of mine's 33-year-old body succumbed to cancer. As I wrote about what it was like to tap for her I asked, "Why didn't the surrogate tapping work?" Because of the number of people who have been asking me about surrogate tapping (and specifically about my experience tapping for a friend with cancer) I thought this would be the perfect time to revisit the idea of surrogate tapping. In this audio I talk about surrogate tapping, when I do it, and why I think it didn't work on my friend's cancer.

Ep 150Pod #150: 3 Key Things To Keep In Mind Before You Start An EFT Session (w/ a tap-along)

Often times the biggest obstacle we have to using tapping in the healing process is ourselves. This happens in two main ways. First, there are times when a part of us that feels it isn't safe for us to heal. Since a part of our system doesn't feel safe healing we short circuits the healing process. When this happens we don't tap as much as we would like and always seem to have other things to do. Second, there are time where we are tapping for the "wrong issue" or have the "wrong expectation" what the tapping/healing process should look like. When this happens we can tap and tap and tap, but not get any where. In this week's podcast I talk about how we can respond to the second way we prevent ourselves from getting the most out of the tapping process. Our mindset about what to tap on and what the healing process should look like make a world of difference in terms of how much success we will have. If you keep these 3 simple ideas in mind before you tap you will find that when you do tap you are going to be working on your issue is a way that will help you move towards healing much quicker.

Ep 149Pod #149: The Real Goal Of EFT - Proportional Well Informed Emotions

My clients often complain that even though they tap regularly for their issues, there are times when their emotions get the better of them. The goal of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is not for us to become emotionless. Our emotions are important because they allow us to feel in order to navigate the world and they are what give our experience richness. The problems isn't the emotions themselves, but when and how strongly they show up. In this week's podcast I talk about the ultimate goal of tapping AND how we can best understand our experience of our emotions. Subscribe to the podcast in iTunes

Ep 148Pod #148: What If I Can't Say I Love And Accept Myself (Thoughts On The EFT Setup Phrase)

When Gary Craig first introduced the world to Emotional Freedom Techniques he used something he called the setup phrase. You would tap on the side of your hand or rub the sore spot and say, "Even though I have [insert issue] I completely love and accept myself." As time has passed and EFT has evolved most teachers of tapping fall into one of two camps. They are either insistent that you do this every time or they never do it at all. There are enough tapping teachers who are still sharing the setup phrase that about once every 10 days I receive an email asking "Do I really have to say the setup phrase?" I think there is a middle ground. There are times when it is really useful and there are also times when it can slow the tapping process. In this podcast we explore when to use the setup phrase. We will also look at why most people are avoiding it, which has nothing to do with its usefulness.

I feel so blessed that they were willing to share their time and their information and wisdom. As the person who had a front row seat for the full catalog I know my life is richer because of it. Recently, I was chatting with Gwyneth Moss and she asked if she could interview me about what I learned from doing 200 podcasts. That is the interview I am sharing this week.

Ep 147Pod #147: Is It Possible To Be Comfortable With Good Enough? (w/ Tap-Along)

We live in a time of exceptionalism. Everywhere we turn we are presented with the biggest, the best, the greatest, and the most important. And it is not just coming from marketers. If you spend any time on social media you see people describing the best meal they have ever had, the greatest vacation of all time, and the most important thing they learned. We have come to a place where if it isn't the best then it must be a failure. ##Wanting To Be The Best All The Time Is Bad For Us I think that it is important to strive for better and that we give it our all, but there are times where wanting to be the best just isn't good for us. It can even hold us back from taking action. In this podcast I talk about the trap of needing to be the best all the time, the value of good enough being good enough, and how we can tap to find our way to the right level of excellence.

Ep 146Pod #146: Stages Of The Emotional Healing Process

I was recently having drinks with a friend and we were talking about my time teaching anger management in jail. She asked if I would teach her one of the tools I taught the guys. So I explained one of my favorites. She responded, "I can see how that tool would useful, but that is just about emotions generally. How is that tool an 'anger management' tool?" And she was right. Every tool I taught in jail was about having a healthy emotional response. Yes, the guys were looking to manage their anger, but the tools and techniques we use for anger are no different than those we would use any other disproportionate emotion. The Real Goal When we are working with our emotional response, the goal of tapping is not to be emotionless. The goal is to have a proportional, well-informed response. Everything we do when tapping for our emotions is about returning them to balance. We can successfully use the same techniques for all emotions is because the process of transforming our emotional response is the same regardless of the emotion we are working on. Very early on in tapping with clients I realized there was a consistent process that we go through as we work our way to well-informed, proportional emotional responses. In this podcast I explain the stages we move through when we are healing our emotional responses. Understanding this transformed the way I worked with clients AND how I understand my own healing journey. I would listen to this audio two or three times. Once you understand this process it will give you an understanding of where to start with your issue to gain the fastest results from your tapping.

Ep 145Pod #145: Compare and Contrast EMDR v. EFT w/ Masha Bennett

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a healing protocol is gaining more and more acceptance worldwide. I see it very much as a cousin protocol to EFT and tapping. In the interview I have a conversation with Masha Bennett who is very experienced in both. She compares and contrasts the two protocols. In doing so she shares what tappers can learn from EMDR and what MEDR practitioners can learn from tapping. Regardless how much tapping training and experience you have you are going to learn from this comparison.

Ep 143Pod #143: A Comprehensive Approach To Health /w Elham Kashefi

Personally, I don't like the terms *alternative medicine or complementary care.* The things we do either are working toward helping us to maintain and improve our health or they are not. Elham Kashefi recently watched her dear friend Tara succumb to cancer. During the time she was receiving treatment it became very clear that the medical system taking care of her was incomplete. The system was built only to respond to things after they had gone wrong and was only able to respond in a limited number of ways. Based on this experience Elham founded the Tara Project with the goal of providing people with the information they need to recognize the things they can do to maintain and improve their health in daily life. It also aims to help people post-diagnosis by providing them with comprehensive information so that they can make informed choices about their health.

Ep 142Pod #142: Tapping For Our Shadow Self w/ Kris Ferraro

According to Wikipedia is: >In Jungian psychology, the shadow or "shadow aspect" may refer to (1) an unconscious aspect of the personality which the conscious ego does not identify in itself. Because one tends to reject or remain ignorant of the least desirable aspects of one's personality, the shadow is largely negative, or (2) the entirety of the unconscious, i.e., everything of which a person is not fully conscious. In Kris Ferraro's client work she works directly with the shadow self. She has found it to be a very effective way to find and clear the parts of the self that hold us back from being who we want to be. In this interview she shares a simple process that you can use to tap with your shadow self

Ep 141Pod #141: How To Approach Perfectionism with Tapping and EFT

One of the key reasons my clients don't take action is because of perfectionistic tendencies. The tendencies show up because there is a part of our system that is trying to keep us safe. We are worried that if something isn't done just right then things will go wrong. We keep working and working until something is perfect so nothing goes wrong. The problem is that we will never arrive at perfection so therefore we will never act. A few weeks ago I was interviewed by Adele Wang about how I understand and approach perfectionism with my clients. If you struggle with perfectionistic tendencies I think you will find this point of view helpful. If you are interested in learning more about Adele's see below.

There is no question that our world is becoming increasingly complicated as our down time diminishes. Because we are being pulled in so many different directions with little time to process our experiences it is easy to feel disquieted. In extreme cases this can develop into full-blown social anxiety. In this conversation Helen Walker talks about how we can identify the roots of social anxiety in this sense of overwhelm and disconnection from what is important in life. If you are are feeling overwhelmed by your day you will find what Helen has to offer very helpful.

Ep 139Pod #139: Tapping For Issues With Many Aspects w/ Lindsay Kenny

We often find ourselves in need to tap for issues that have many aspects either because the issue is so large or because it has unfolded over a long time. For example: an auto accident that is impacting your health, your finances, and your ability to work a divorce poor financial decisions that have left you feeling embarrassed and powerless It can be tough knowing where to start and how to tap for complex issues. EFT Master Lindsay Kenny has created a simple tool using the image of a tree to create a structure for our tapping. In this conversation we talk about (and demonstrate) how the straightforward approach can be used for multifaceted issues with many aspects.

Ep 138Pod #138: Working With Childhood Traumas That We Don't Remember All The Details Of w/ Gwyneth Moss

We hear it over and over again in our tapping training. "The more specific you are with your issue, the more effective the healing will be." "The earlier the memory you can find related to the issue, the faster you will be able to release it." For the most part these statements are true, but what happens when you are dealing with something general, like low self-esteem, or you are working on an issue without any memories attached to it? This week I talk with Gwyneth Moss who has developed a gentle technique for getting in touch with our younger selves in a way that allows us to do healing work without having to know specific memories.

Ep 137Pod #137: Building Communities of Support w/ Jondi Whitis

We do not live in a vacuum. We are impacted by the issues others struggle with and vice versa. The healing process is also not something that takes place independently of others. Often our fastest route to healing is by walking that journey with others. Jondi Whitis has seen the impact of trauma on a community and the impact of a community on an individual’s trauma firsthand. She has worked with both the families of those directly impacted by the New Town shooting and also with veterans and veterans’ groups around the issue of PTSD. In this interview she shares what she has learned from this work, what can be applied to our own healing process, and how we can reach out to others. There is a great deal of wisdom to be learned from Jondi’s experiences. I encourage you to listen and take advantage of it.

Ep 136Pod #136: How To Clear All Aspects Of An Issue, Not Just The Obvious Ones w/ Linda Wood

There is a counterbalance to most things in life. Success to failure. Happy to sad. Action to rest. Growth to deterioration. Often when we tap we are working only on the part we see as negative, thereby addressing only half of this balance. Even though the negative side is most obvious and painful there are often tappable issues on both sides. For example, I might feel frustrated that I don’t have a better job, but there is also a part of me that fears the challenges a new job might bring. Feeling frustrated about not having a good job is an obvious thing to tap for, but if we may miss the flip side, which is our fear of the unknown. If we don’t clear both sides it will be hard for us to take action. In this interview Linda Woods presents a straightforward approach to looking at an issue from both sides. If you work through the simple steps of this tool you will not only identify new aspects but will also have documentation of your discovery, allowing to you to come back again and again to ensure you haven’t missed anything.

Ep 135Pod #135: Tuning Into Our Bodies For Information w/ Carol Tuttle

When I am tapping on my issues it is my conscious mind that most often gets in the way. The conscious mind is wired to figure out explanations for what is going on and won't rest until it has done so. This becomes problematic when the reason it has decided is behind an issue is wrong. I have seen this with countless clients. They come to me because they can't seem to get tapping to work on their issue. After a little investigation it becomes clear they had been approaching the wrong root cause. Knowing that the conscious mind isn't always the best at figuring out the healing path, what are we to do? In this interview I talk with Carol Tuttle about how we can use the information and wisdom of our physical body to identify the right focus for our tapping work.

I love having conversations with Steve Wells. When we started this one we decided that we'd talk about how we can use tapping to improve the quality of our working lives. In the end we used the issues and obstacles we face at work to explore a much larger topic of how we can use tapping to take action AND how we can use taking action to help us uncover those things we need to tap on. It turned into a great discussion about goals. Put simply, if you would like to take actions to improve your life and are having a hard time doing so, then you should listen to this conversation.

Ep 131Pod #131: Tapping For Relationships w/ Dawson Church

If you have been around tapping and EFT for any length of time then more than likely you are aware of Dawson Church's work. He has been on the forefront of research being done to prove tapping’s efficacy and tapping best practices. He has also been very involved in conducting research into best practice for practitioners. When I approached Dawson about doing another interview he insisted upon talking about relationships. When I asked why he said, "It is something I am really passionate about. When people have stronger relationships they have better lives." You can't argue with that! This interview isn't your typical interview about relationships. Forever the scientist, Dawson talks about how what is going on in our brain impacts the type and quality of relationships that we have. We then discuss how we can use tapping to impact the brain in ways that directly lead us to find the right relationships. It is not a path that I would have expected us to go down in a conversation about tapping and relationships, but it is really good stuff. I know you will enjoy it.

Ep 130Pod #130: How To Use EFT To Move You To Take Action

The first weekend of April the 2nd annual Spring Energy Event was held outside NYC. My friend Jondi Whitis did an awesome job once again of putting together a great event. This year I was asked to talk about how we can use tapping to move ourselves to taking the action we want. My presentation was broken into three parts: Part 1: Tapping For Action v. Tapping For Relief Part 2: The 9 Immutable Laws Of Taking Action Part 3: 4 Ways To Use Tapping To Move You Towards Taking Action The version of the handout I created for the talk had a number of blanks for the audience to fill in while listening. I have provided the completed notes below. If you are looking for help taking action you will find over 200 audios, classes, and resources in the Ruach Center designed specifically to move you taking action.

They say try it on anything, but luck… really?" I would agree with you. When my friend and EFT Master Rue Hass recommended this as the topic for our conversation I was curious. In the end the conversation turned out to be so fruitful that I needed to split it into two parts. When Rue is talking about luck she is talking about how we access the opportunities around us to move towards our goals. Even though I personally wouldn't use the word luck to describe what she is talking about you will hear in our conversation that I do agree with her disposition. You will find this conversation in contrast to most of the conversation around an attraction (and law of attraction) world view.

Ep 128Pod #128: EFT For Fear Of Failure And Fear of Success w/ Annabel Fisher

On the surface it might not seem like an obvious connection, but in many ways fear of failure and fear of success are the opposite sides of the same coin. Fear of failure is concerned about what goes wrong when things don't work out. Fear of success is concerned about what goes wrong when things do work out. (And, yes, things can still go wrong when we are successful.) Both fears keep us from taking action, believing it will keep us out of harm’s way. In this interview with Annabel Fisher we talk about the fears of failure and success, how they are related, and how we can tap for them.

Ep 127Your Self-Sabotage Is Brilliant w/ Brad Yates (Pod #127)

Self-sabotage can be so frustrating. There are times when we know exactly what we need to be doing, yet we still choose the wrong course of action. Sometimes I can see myself getting in my own way and I am amazed at how creatively I self-sabotage. If it didn't negatively impact my life I would almost think it is funny! Brad Yates uses an interesting word to describe this type of creative self-sabotage. He calls it "brilliant". It is not brilliant in the outcome that results, but it is brilliant in how creative it is in causing us problems. In this interview Brad and I talk about the amazing ways we get in our own way and what we can do to leverage this brilliance into having what we want.

Ep 126Pod #126: Lesson From Tapping With Children With Cancer w/ Deborah Miller PhD

EFT is such a powerful tool that we all know that we should "try it on anything." Even though most of us have tried it on anything we haven't taken it to the extremes. Most of have tapped for deep and powerful issues, but not in moments that are literally life or death. Deborah Miller has done just that. She works with children with cancer and their parents. She is doing more than trying it on anything, she is being successful! In this interview we talk about what all tappers can learn from her work with these extreme issues. We also talk about the book she has written on how parents and children can use tapping.

Ep 125Pod #125: EFT For Lessons And Experiences From Our Childhood That Impact Us Today w/ Jacqui Crooks

There is no question that we are impacted by our past. That seems so obvious that it doesn't even seem worth commenting on. Nevertheless I think it is easy to underestimate how some past experiences impact us. In my private sessions with clients it is amazing how often we find our way back to roots planted firmly in their childhood via current issues. We are more than impacted by our childhood experiences, we are deeply imprinted by them. In this interview I talk with EFT Master Jacqui Crooks about how we are affected by these childhood moments and how we can tap to create freedom from memories and lessons that are no longer helpful.

Ep 124Pod #124: EFT For Performance Anxiety w/ Gina Parris

It happens all the time. You know how to do something. You might have done it a ton of times before. But the moment you step in front of someone else and have to do it you freeze. You might be before a whole group of people, like giving a presentation, or just in front of one person, like in a job interview. You get tense. And sweaty. You can't remember what to say or do. You might even shake. Things that usually come easily to us are suddenly really difficult when others are watching us. In this interview with Gina Parris we talk about performance anxiety and how you can use what Gina calls "3 R" to move past it.

Ep 123Pod #123: Tapping For New Year's Resolutions That We Have Already Given Up On

In a recent Time magazine artile Jessica Lamb-Shapiro points out that only 8% of us follow through on our New Year’s resolutions, with most people giving up within a week. There are lots of reasons for this. We create goals that are too big, we don't create an infrastructure or system that will set us up for success, and we are trying to change old habits with willpower alone. It is really easy to feel frustrated with our failed attempts at change. In this week's podcast we tap for dealing with the frustration of not following up on our goals and also do some tapping to set you up to start taking action towards your New Year's resolutions. Think of this as the reset button for your New Year's Resolutions.

Ep 122Pod #122: Ask The Expert w/ Gene Monterastelli

In December I was the guest on the Tapping Solution's monthly 'Ask The Expert' call. We answered questions about anger, fear of finding work, how to tap for the fear that comes up when physical symptoms persist, how to tap for feeling overwhelmed, and what to do when we keep sabotaging our own success. Thanks to Kris (and the callers) for such a great time. If you missed the call you can hear the whole thing here.

Ep 121Pod #121: Tapping For Holiday Stress and Frenzy

The holidays can be a very stressful time. There are million things going on, we are tempted by tasty treats at every turn, and we are surrounded by people who sometimes push our buttons. In this audio we tap for: Not having enough time Feeling like we have to accept every invitation we receive The temptation of too much unhealthy holiday food The financial stress of buying gifts Holiday travel Spending time with loved ones who are very different than us The loneliness we feel during the holidays because of everyone else's busyness.

Ep 120Pod #120: Tapping For Social Anxiety w/ Sebastiaan van der Schrier

Managing social anxiety can be difficult. It is not like the fear triggered by something like a snake we encounter in our path. Social anxiety is insidious, sitting just below the surface, and impacting our every interaction in some way big or small. Not having one specific memory to start with can make tapping for it tricky. I know this firsthand as this was the very issue that first brought me to tapping. I wish that I had known Sebastiaan van der Schrier when I started out on my own tapping journey. Sebastiaan specializes in tapping for social anxiety. In this interview he walks us through his comprehensive 8-step process for working with social anxiety, which can also be applied to many other issues.

Ep 119Pod #119: EFT For Long Term Change Not Just Short Term Relief

EFT does a great job of helping us to feel better in the moment. In a very short time we can go from being emotionally overwhelmed to calm. But we know there is much more that can be achieved with tapping. Not only is it helpful for short-term relief but it can also help create long-term change. I had an interesting conversation with a client this week. "Jackie" was relaying the fact we had tapped for an issue a few weeks earlier, a major shift had happened when we tapped, and it was still hard to make new choices in the moment when the issue came up. In today's podcast I address why Jackie experienced what she did and some simple things you can do with your tapping to make sure you experience not just short-term relief but long-term change. Here is the podcast I reference in this recording. Pod #91: Using The Gamut Point To Make Long Lasting Change

Ep 118Pod #118: Using EFT To Stop Acting Like A Doormat

I recently had a great conversation with one of my clients. She started the call by saying, "I have some great news! I am no longer a doormat. I am asking for what I need. I am only helping others in a way that is healthy for me. Most importantly I am able to say 'no' to others when I want to!" After sharing this story in my newsletter many people wrote to me asking how they could achieve the same change in their own lives. There are three main areas we can tap for when it comes to uprooting a doormat disposition. In order to enjoy the lasting effects of this transformation I would recommend regular if not daily tapping on these issues. I encourage you to listen to the audio at the end of this post for examples of tapping for these three areas. Take out a piece of paper and answer the questions below. The answer to each question will provide you with at least one tappable issue. Spending a little time tapping for one of these daily WILL lead to a powerful change.

Ep 117Pod #117: Simple Energy Technique w/ Steve Wells

One of the things I love most about tapping is its flexibility. Not only can it be used on a wide range of issues, but it can be used in a numerous ways. Steve Wells and his colleague David Lake have spent years playing around with the basic EFT recipe. They asked what worked, what didn't work, and how it could be improved. In the end they created something they call Simple Energy Technique (SET) which is a user friendly collection of the best of the best techniques. In this interview Steve talks about the ways in which SET is similar to and different from EFT. SET is so simple and straightforward that you will be able to add the parts you find useful to your tapping right away.

Ep 116Pod #116: EFT for Generational Work w/ Jacqui Crooks

A huge piece of who we are is where we came from. Our personality and our beliefs are shaped from a very early age by the people around us and the stories they told. We describe ourselves by our family name, our heritage, where we grew up, and our nationality. This type of connection to our past is important and healthy, but there are times when it becomes a problem. It becomes easy to use these descriptions of who we are as a way of limiting ourselves unnecessarily, for example: The men in my family were never good at sharing their emotions You know how hot tempered we Irish are The women in my family always have had trouble with love In this interview with EFT Master Jacqui Crooks we talk about the conscious and subconscious ways in which we adopt these beliefs as our own, how debilitating they can be, and what we can do to release them in a healthy way without damaging our connection with the people we love.

Ep 115Pod #115: Struggling To Give Self Care w/ Loretta Sparks

Taking care of others is easy to do. We see needs, suffering, and struggle. We respond. Often (at least for me) it is hard for us to extend the same type of care and concern to ourselves. In this interview with EFT Master Loretta Sparks we talk about some of the most common reasons that caring people have such a hard time taking care of themselves. We also talk about a number of simple tools and steps that can be implemented right now to make it easier to care for yourself.

Ep 114Pod #114: Love is Letting Go of Shields w/ Dr. Terry Lynch

Years ago a friend of mine wrote a book called "Real Love In A Pizza Love World". In English at least, love is a tricky word. We use it for so many things, and in so many ways, that sometimes it can be hard to get our mind wrapped around the idea of wanting to be loving and be love. In this interview with Terry Lynch we talk about the way she approaches the word love, and also demonstrates the protocol of EmoTrance on me.

Ep 113Pod #113: How Carrying An Eraser In My Pocket Changed The Way I Tap

One of the questions I receive a lot from people new to tapping is, "Aren't you worried that you will tap something bad in?" That is a reasonable concern. Often when we are tapping we are saying phrases about how we would like our life to be better while we are tapping. From the outside it almost looks like we are driving the positive phrases into our body and our mind. But that isn't what is really happening. Instead, from my point of view at least, we are in the process of clearing out inaccurate beliefs and perceptions. In this podcast I explain what I think is really happening when we are tapping, how we can be more successful with our tapping, and why the big pink eraser I have in my front pocket informs the way I tap.
