Ep 710Bills vs Chiefs Matchup Preview & Predictions
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, a completely snowed in Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino from Buffalo Rumblings to preview the AFC divisional round showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs this coming Sunday evening in Orchard Park, complete with talk about both teams, keys to a Buffalo victory and predictions (of sorts) from both. The snow is piling up big-time again around Orchard Park late in the week but hopefully it won't cause this week's game to be rescheduled like last week. Patrick talks about the snow pummeling parts of the Southtowns before the guys get into this game. They talk about plenty of the good and bad the Bills are doing on the field and the unfortunate timing of many key injuries going into this game. They also talk about the Chiefs, who are in this position on the strength of a defense that's yet to surrender 28 points in a game all season long. It's made up for an offensive that's been largely inefficient, although they did look good moving and scoring the football in their first round blowout of Miami at Arrowhead Stadium. That's largely because of the emergence of Rashee Rice and the angry running of Isaiah Pacheco. The guys also go over a handful of keys it'll take for the Bills to get to the AFC championships, a few predictions and much more. Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino and check out Buffalo Rumblings, featuring written and podcast/vidcast content pretty much daily.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 709Biggest Bills Takeaways & Getting Ready For KC
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over some of this biggest Buffalo Bills takeaways from their wild card round victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers and what they mean going forward as the team looks forward to matchup versus Kansas City this Sunday everyone wants to see.Patrick likes what he continues to see from the Bills running game and highlights that, including the way James Cook and Ty Johnson were used alongside the legs of course of Josh Allen. Speaking of, we give props to three players who helped pave the way for Allen’s career-best 52 yard touchdown run that put Buffalo up three touchdowns on Sunday. Also highlighted is pass catchers Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid with their emergence taking some of the urgency of Stefon Diggs needing to put up big numbers every week. The Bills won the game, obviously the most important factor but it didn’t come without some warts. Patrick talks of concern about the Bills only dropping Mason Rudolph once and also the lousy afternoon for kicker Tyler Bass. Of course, injuries have suddenly become a huge concern for Buffalo again over the past two weeks and Patrick talks about them and the players they need back most going into the Chiefs game.He also has thoughts on what’s at stake for the organization and some people individually with this matchup, the first road playoff game of Patrick Mahomes’ career. That and plenty more today.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 708LIVE Reactions: Bills Eliminate Steelers
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Tone Pucks to react just minutes after the Buffalo Bills eliminated the Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-17 in their AFC wild card playoff game. The Bills offense, led of course by Josh Allen was up to task against Pittsburgh, not letting the cold weather become any factor. Josh Allen threw for 203 yards and ran for 72 more, including a career-best 52 yard touchdown scamper to get the Bills out in front by three touchdowns. The guys go over a balanced offense that was (mostly) firing on all cylinders and got everyone everyone involved.Unfortunately the win came with a price, as several Bills defenders went down with injuries including Terrell Bernard, Taron Johnson and Christian Benford. Patrick and Tone talk about the injuries and how it's going to effect this defense as the Bills head to the second round to face the Kansas City Chiefs in Orchard Park.Speaking of, Tone can't help himself but jump right into some Bills vs Chiefs talk. It's going to be an exciting week for the Bills, their fans and this podcast as well. That plus perhaps a few minutes of Buffalo Sabres talk and more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 707The Great Buffalo Snow Storm of 2024 (Featuring Joe Miller)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe Miller of Buffalo Rumblings to discuss elements of the crazy snow storm that rocked Western New York over the weekend and forced the NFL to postpone the Buffalo Bills vs Pittsburgh Steelers wild card playoff game back a day from Sunday to Monday.By early Saturday it was apparent that the snow and wind storm slated to hit Western New York wasn't going to be a dud. Driving bans were proactively enacted and by noon on Saturday New York governor Kathy Hochul announced the game scheduled for 1pm on Sunday was being postponed a day. The guys discuss their opinions on the game being moved early and it ultimately being the right call as well as a notable change in government philosophy after last year's Christmas blizzard calamity in Buffalo. They also talk a little more Bills vs Steelers and how much of a factor they expect the weather to be late Monday afternoon, a Kansas City team that smacked Miami and awaits the Bills if they get past Pittsburgh, Houston shellacking the Cleveland Browns over the weekend and much more.Follow Joe on Twitter @JoeMillerWired and be sure to check out his Overreaction Sports Podcast, and well as his Off Tackle with John Fina and Hump Date Hotline shows on Buffalo Rumblings, available on all major podcasting platforms.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 706Fan Friday: Bills Concerns, Linval Joseph, Buffalo Culture
EIt's another edition of Fan Friday on this episode of Talking Buffalo and host Patrick Moran takes some questions and comments from fans, primarily focused on but not limited to the Buffalo Bills and their wildcard playoff game against Pittsburgh this coming Sunday in Orchard Park.Buffalo is favored over Pittsburgh by double digits as things stand and it appears the biggest obstacle to the Bills playing their best offensively may end up being the weather. Patrick addresses a question about weather concerns as well as the probability that wide receiver Gabe Davis, who's killed Pittsburgh in the past will have to miss the game. He also answered questions revolving around Josh Allen, Linval Joseph and the Miami Dolphins HBO Hard Knocks series that had a Billscentric episode air this week.He also gets a question about the Buffalo Sabres (uhh, who?) and has some fun with TV dad and classic TV comedy submissions.Patrick also has thoughts on Miami linebacker Jerome Baker celebrating an individual play with a tweet and Bills fans locally who are actually threatening to boycott local businesses that host Pittsburgh fan parties this weekend. That and more today.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 705Bills vs Steelers Matchup Playoff Preview and Predictions
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino from Buffalo Rumblings to preview the AFC wildcard round showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in Orchard Park, complete with talk about both teams, keys to a Buffalo victory and predictions from both. There was so much uncertainty last week when Anthony joined the show to preview the upcoming Miami game on Sunday night, not knowing if the Bills would win the AFC east and subsequently lock up the number two seed, lose to Miami but still sneak into the playoffs or lose and miss the postseason all together. Ultimately the Bills handled their business, especially on the defensive side and a result will enjoy a home game in the first round. The guys spend some time talking about what's been going right for Buffalo before turning their attention to Pittsburgh, who comes into the game double digit underdogs. Of course, Anthony shows far more respect for Buffalo's opponent than Patrick as the guys talk about some of the things Bills fans should be most worried about. One thing they won't be worried about is All-Pro edge rusher T.J. Watt, who'll miss the game for Pittsburgh with a knee injury. They discuss that before transitioning into their three biggest keys to a Buffalo first-round victory and make their game predictions. They also spend some time talking Miami, playoff vibes and much more. Ep 704Biggest Bills Film & Grade Takeaways Plus First Look at Pittsburgh
EOn this solo episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over some of his biggest Buffalo Bills takeaways after watching the film and sifting through PFF grades from their win over Miami on Sunday that sends them riding high into the playoffs in addition to thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers among other topics. It certainly wasn't pretty at times but the Bills found a way to win in Miami to capture the AFC east. Patrick goes over several talking points based off the film, including enormous contributions from unexpected players, Josh Allen's crucial run, attacking the Miami weak link repeatedly and key blocks on Deonte Harty's game-swinging punt return touchdown. He also starts to look into Buffalo's wildcard opponent, Pittsburgh and while trying to show them so respect can't help but already start thinking ahead. He also has a few general Bills thoughts as they head into the playoffs and explains why he considers this perhaps the Bills last "easiest opportunity" to come out of the AFC with this current regime. That and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 703What Most Changed For The Buffalo Bills?
EOn this incredibly animated episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by longtime friend and recurring guest Tone Pucks for his weekly visit to discuss some of the biggest factors that led the Buffalo Bills from being a flailing 6-6 team on the cusp of missing the playoffs to wining the AFC east for a fourth straight season and nailing down the two seed going into the playoffs. After the Bills blew a late lead and ultimately lost to Philadelphia in overtime headed into their bye, it felt like any realistic championship aspirations were completely out the window. To make matters worse their marquee defensive end was arrested during the bye period and a sports journalist dropped a scathing series on Bills head coach Sean McDermott. Yet this team rallied and completely turned things around. The guys talk about some of the biggest reasons that led to Buffalo's turnaround, from the embattled head coach seemingly having a shift with in-game management to the team indisputably rallying around him, a defense that rose to elite levels when the games mattered most and the rare quarterback who's talented enough to overcome his many mistakes---the Bills still found a way to win their division and put themselves into great shape as the postseason gets under way.Patrick and Tone also highlight some of the unsung players who really stepped up at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday night, give absolutely zero respect to Buffalo's wild card round opponent Pittsburgh Steelers--to the point Tony's already looking forward to playing Kansas City. That and much more.Follow Tone Pucks on Twitter @TonePucksRedux♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 702Bills Beat Miami, Win AFC East (Live Reactions)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran provides some instant live reaction just moments after the Buffalo Bills beat Miami, 21-14 to win the AFC east and secure the number two seed in the playoffs. All season long the headlines have been about the offense, but it was the Buffalo defense that gave the Bills their fourth straight divisional title. Patrick talks about a defense that forced two turnovers for the game and shut Miami out in the second half. Because of that Buffalo will face Pittsburgh next Sunday afternoon in Orchard Park.Josh Allen put up big numbers but stunk at times with bad turnovers. Patrick breaks down his game as well as several "complimentary" players stepping up---especially Khalil Shakir, Trent Sherfield and Dalton Kincaid. He also takes a victory lap on pregame predictions of a Dawson Knox touchdown and Deonte Harty busting a long punt return.Patrick also recounts the afternoon leading up to the Bills game, confessing the unhealthy levels of anxiety he had during the game and how he attempted to combat it, focused around a TV series that's been cancelled for more than three years. That and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 701Matt Parrino, Bills Beat Reporter (700th Episode)
EOn this special 700th episode of Talking Buffalo, it’s another installment of the “Live from Imperial” series as Patrick Moran is joined by Buffalo Bills beat reporter Matt Parrino to discuss the Bills, wings, podcasting and much more in a chat shot live from Imperial Pizza in South Buffalo. The Bills have their biggest regular season game in several years coming up this Sunday night in Miami. Win and they're locked into the two seed. Lose and they could very well miss the playoffs entirely. Matt has thoughts about the huge stakes and season to this point in addition to Von Miller's benching, the Bills inconsistent offense, the Dolphins injury problems and who Matt thinks may step in Miami. They also spend some time talking podcasting, what the guys like most about the spots that host most their live shows, Buffalo winters and tons more.Big thank you once again to this episode’s sponsor, Imperial Pizza for outstanding food and a great vibe to host a show at! Ep 700Bills vs Dolphins Matchup Preview and Predictions
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino from Buffalo Rumblings to preview a Buffalo Bills vs Miami Dolphins game on Sunday that is for all the marbles----winner takes AFC east and second seed and in the case of the Bills, a lose could very well end their season.Buffalo beating New England and Miami losing at Baltimore last week sets up this clash that has been flexed to Sunday night. The guys talk about the up-and-down Bills and Miami's dominance against weak teams but struggles against better competition. They also talk about Miami becoming pretty decimated with injuries, with two defensive stars suffering injuries last week that will keep them out of this game. They also go over three keys to a Buffalo victory before offering their game predictions as well as bold predictions for who the game heroes will be. They also spend some time talking Buffalo Rumblings, winter weather, this podcast on the verge of hitting 700 episodes and tons more.Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino and check out Buffalo Rumblings, featuring written and podcast/vidcast content pretty much daily.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 699Bills Film Study & PFF Grades Biggest Takeaways, Week 17
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is offering his thoughts and biggest takeaways after watching the All-22 film and pouring through the PFF grades from the Buffalo Bills six point victory over New England this past weekend before turning his full attention to a quite literally critical showdown with Miami in game No. 272 of the NFL season this Sunday night. Some of Patrick's conclusions and takeaways include it being time for Joe Brady to have Latavius Murray take a seat and find a way to get Khalil Shakir a little more engaged in the passing game as doing so springs good results. He also raves about Gregory Rousseau's great game, Jordan Poyer's performance being a great example of why PFF grades can be really stupid, a few lineup surprises and some flowers tossed the way of Bills punter Sam Martin.Of course all roads lead to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami this Sunday night with the AFC east and numbet two seed on the line---not to mention the realistic possibility of Buffalo missing the playoffs entirely. Patrick's got some thoughts on that and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 698Kicking Off 2024 With Buffalo vs Miami Week
EOn today's Talking Buffalo, the Bills vs Dolphins rivalry adds as huge chapter this week with their regular season finale matchup being for the division and two seed in the playoffs, with the Bills potentially missing the playoffs all together with a loss. Tone Pucks joins to discuss it all.The Bills didn't get a lot of scoreboard help around the league this past Sunday but got what they needed most---Baltimore beating Miami (soundly) to give Buffalo the opportunity to plan not just for the AFC east division this coming Sunday night in Miami, but also for the No. 2 seed. So, the Bills could host potential multiple playoff games or conversely be out of the postseason entirely if they lose and either Jacksonville (vs Tennessee) or Pittsburgh (vs Baltimore) win this weekend. The guys give their thoughts on Buffalo's much closer than it felt like it needed to be victory over the New England Patriots on New Year's Eve. They discuss a Bills offense that's flailing again and Josh Allen being extremely hot or cold all season. They also discuss Von Miller being a healthy inactive for the first time in his career, Terrell Bernard having a wonderful first season as the starting middle linebacker and the unbelievably good play Rasul Douglas has provided since Brandon Beane traded for him. They also take a peak at Miami, who's suddenly getting decimated with injuries. The Bills would have no excuse anyway and even more so as it seems they're playing the Dolphins at the most opportune time. They also essentially refuse to discuss how the Sabres simply can't get any sustaining momentum going, Tone's insistence of talking about a college football game throughout the recording and much more. Ep 697Bills Survive Patriots Live Reactions (First Episode of 2024)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, the very last one of 2023 Patrick Moran provides some instant live reaction just moments after the Buffalo Bills survived their regular season home finale, 27-21 over the New England Patriots that now have them in control of winning the AFC east and the second seed in the conference. The offense was mostly sluggish if not outright bad, but the defense bailed them out in the first half with four turnovers, including a pick six by Rasul Douglas. Patrick has a ton of thoughts on both sides of the ball, what's ailing this team offensively, Von Miller being a healthy scratch, Lamar Jackson locking up MVP while doing the Bills a huge (huge) favor in the process and tons more.We hope that everyone had a fantastic New Year's eve and with the best for an enjoyable, safe and prosperous 2024! Thank you for continuing to watch and/or listen to Talking Buffalo----the growth has been notable over the past year as we near six years of being a podcast, and myself along with all the guests are grateful for you---cheers!♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 696A Smorgasbord of Bills & Sabres Takes (Live from Imperial)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo recorded live from Imperial Pizza in South Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by longtime friend and recurring guest Tone Pucks to drop a full smorgasbord of Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and other topical "hot takes" as we wind down 2023.The Bills are trending in the right direction at the most critical time of the season and the Sabres are unmistakably headed in the opposite direction. Tone has plenty to say about both, from Sean McDermott having a professional and maybe personal turnaround to Ed Oliver taking the reigns on defense and debate over whether Von Miller should even be playing. On the hockey side it's about disappointment with the team and in particular some of the guys that were given big contracts pretty early on. Patrick's nearly out on the Sabres while Tone's willing to see how they do during an extremely winnable long January stretch. They also spend some time discussing Christmas they spent with their families and plenty more. As always, a huge thanks to Imperial Pizza for their great hospitality and killer wings. It should also be noted that the second Imperial location at 1665 Main Street is fully open for business.Follow Tone Pucks on Twitter @TonePucksRedux♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 695Bills vs Patriots Matchup Preview & Predictions
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino from Buffalo Rumblings to preview a Buffalo Bills vs New England Patriots game on Sunday that could result in Buffalo clinching a playoff spot by the time Sunday evening hits. After having just a 15% chance of making the playoffs a handful of weeks ago, the Bills are are in great shape after winning three straight and having plenty of scoreboard help around the league. The guys talk about some of the things that have turned Buffalo's season around over the past few weeks before turning their attention to the Patriots. New England stinks and has just four wins this season, but they did beat the Bills already and went on the road last week to knock Denver out of the playoffs for all intents and purposes. Patrick was overconfident with the Bills going into Los Angeles last weekend--will he make the same mistake this week to? Meanwhile, Anthony's usually more guarded when it comes to previewing and forecasting these games, will that change? The guys also spend some time talking about Bills quarterback Josh Allen the person, some of their Christmas highlights they just experienced and much more.Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino and check out Buffalo Rumblings, featuring written and podcast/vidcast content pretty much daily.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 694Ranking Josh Allen in the NFL MVP Race
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is breaking down Josh Allen's credentials and where he would rank the Buffalo Bills QB in the NFL MVP race as the season comes down to the final two weeks. Most people consider six players as frontrunners for the award, including Allen. Patrick goes through each of the six candidates and lists some reasons the MVP vote could for for and against them, After going through the six most likely candidates and given honorable mention to four more Patrick counts down what his ballot would look like from sixth place down to one---with the caveat that the race isn't quite over yet for at least three of the candidates.Shockingly or maybe not shocking, Patrick Mahomes is not one of the six main candidates nor one of four honorable mentions. That and plenty more today.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 693Celebrating A Very Merry Bills Christmas
EIn this Christmas'ish episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran talks about the Buffalo Bills doing what they had to do over the weekend, even if it wasn't pretty and why no fan should be even concerned with style points at this point of the season.Coming off huge victories over Kansas City and Dallas it was expected the Bills would travel to Los Angeles and stomp the Chargers in prime time. That didn't happen as the Chargers gave Buffalo everything they could handle. Patrick talks about some of the elements that made for the perfect trap game and is feeling as good about them overcoming that than if they had won convincingly. He also talks about where the Bills currently stand in regards to the AFC east and wild card playoff races after a favorable Buffalo weekend of scoreboard watching that became even better with a Monday afternoon Kansas City loss, in addition to some of his family Christmas highlights today and much more.We hope everyone had a fantastic and a solid final week of 2023!♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 692Fan Friday: Preserving Josh, Bills Stout O-Line & 2024 Goals
EOn this near-holiday episode of Talking Buffalo, host Patrick Moran takes some questions and comments from fans, ranging from the real reason you didn't see Josh Allen running with the football nearly as much in the first half of the season, the Bills having their most stout offensive line in years, what player should be "hot Santa" and personal/podcasting goals for 2024.A comment from a fan with some outstanding context leads to Patrick doubling down on his assertion that Sean McDermott strategically made sure Josh Allen's rushing attempts were limited earlier this season, even though many fans still pin that on former coordinator Ken Dorsey. Cam Newton's brought up as a specific example the organization's trying to avoid. Also, a statement leads to a discussion about the Bills offensive line, including the pretty incredible stat the starting five has been together for every game so far this season. Also, Patrick admits that while he understood and has grown to like O'Cyrus Torrence in the second-round of this year's draft, it's not who he wanted Buffalo to take.Patrick also goes on an unprovoked tangent about the Buffalo Sabres stinking up the ice this season and also takes issue with a fan suggesting Little Debbie Zebra cakes are as good as Christmas Tree cakes--blasphemous!That plus Patrick opens up about personal things he's worked on his life, where he wants to see this podcast grow in 2024 and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 691Bills vs Chargers Preview, Can't Be Losing To Easton Stick
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino from Buffalo Rumblings to preview a Buffalo Bills vs Los Angeles Chargers matchup Sunday that simply put, there's no way on earth the Bills should lose. The Chargers come into this matchup losers in five of their last six, including a 63-21 shellacking last week that resulted in both the head coach and general manager getting fired. To make matters worse their star quarterback is out for the season, joining their star pass rusher on the sidelines among other key injuries. That coupled with Easton Stick getting the start should have fan Bills fans confidence sky high, but Anthony remains guarded based on how he's seen Buffalo play down to their competition too many times this season. The guys go over several factors and keys to the contest before offering their game predictions. They also spend a little time talking about the emergence of running back James Cook as a star player in the league and the tremendous job interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady has done since talking over the position, showing an ability to find and exploit the weaknesses in opposing defenses without getting overly cute about it.The guys also do their weekly "Finish the Sentence" segment, this time a complete Christmas edition, Patrick talks about his son turning 21 today and much more.Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino and check out Buffalo Rumblings, featuring written and podcast/vidcast content pretty much daily.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 690Bills Film Study & PFF Grade Analysis, Week 15
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has his weekly thoughts and observations on the Buffalo Bills after watching the coaches All-22 film and analyzing the PFF grades of a completely dominant victory over the Dallas Cowboys, 31-10 that keeps the team very much alive in the AFC playoff picture going into the last three weeks. With Josh Allen not needing to do much last week, Patrick focuses on two aspects of the team most didn't expect to see Buffalo run roughshod over Dallas with---the running game and offensive line. James Cook is drawing comparison to Thurman Thomas lately with his vision, quick cuts and versatility both as a runner and pass catcher, but it was the offensive line that often opened gaping holes for Cook to take advantage of. Patrick discusses Spencer Brown having perhaps the best game of his career and Dion Dawkins, despite a poor PFF grade playing excellent as well.Additionally, the film and PFF grades are showing Jordan Poyer is far from washed up, Jordan Phillips having a good game before his wrist injury, Greg Rosseau remaining stout and Christian Benford finally getting a big turnover. That plus should the Bills start taking some reps away from wide receiver Gabe Davis and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 689James Cook Is Looking Very Thurmanish
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by longtime friend and recurring guest Tone Pucks for his weekly visit to discuss some leftover details from the Buffalo Bills big victory Sunday over Dallas to put them firmly back in the AFC playoff race, including James Cook starting to look more and more and like Buffalo Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas.James Cook ran for 179 yards on 25 carries, caught two passes for 42 yards and found the end zone twice. Not only is Cook currently second in the NFL in rushing, he's third in yards from scrimmage and his multidimensional skills are starting to draw comparisons to the former Bills legend Thomas. The guys talk about and how it's unfortunate that it took Joe Brady becoming offensive coordinator to unlock the Bills usage and versatility at the running back position. The guys also examine, at least to some extent if the Bills really need to win out to get into the postseason. Because the Bills technically don't control their own destiny there's no guarantee of the playoffs, even if they win their last three but what's the chances Buffalo gets in if they drop one more game? Probably not good! That plus a little Buffalo Sabres talk, Tone Pucks' driving prowess and much more.Follow Tone Pucks on Twitter @TonePucksRedux♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 688Instant Reactions: Bills Bully Cowboys In Dominant Win
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Tone Pucks is out sick so an also-sick Patrick Moran is solo to bring live instant reaction following the Buffalo Bills complete domination of the Dallas Cowboys, 31-10 in a game the Bills needed to have to keep their AFC playoff hopes alive. The Bills and Josh Allen did basically nothing in the passing game but it didn't matter. Buffalo ran for 266 yards, including 179 from James Cook in his best game as a pro. Patrick talks about Cook's day, the offensive line opening up plenty of holes and brilliant coordinating from Joe Brady, recognizing early the Dallas pass rush was suffocating but the run defense was vulnerable. On the other side of the ball, Sean McDermott dialed in a perfect game plan and defensive execution to thwart a Dallas offensive attack that was averaging 40 points per game over their last five.Like, it's seriously hard to even come up with some "negatives" from this game when it comes to Buffalo--forcing Patrick to get extremely nitpicky in finding any.Bottom line, the Bills have three games left and will be heavily favored in their next two (at Chargers, New England) before a season finale showdown at Miami that could literally be for a division title or wild card spot. Patrick recaps Buffalo's domination and more on today's episode. ♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 687Fan Friday: Tre's Future, McDermott, Favorite Pizza, Worst Christmas Song
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, host Patrick Moran takes some questions and comments from fans, ranging from Tre White's future with the Buffalo Bills, would Bill Belicheck ever be a consideration for Terry Pegula, who the Bills would most like to play if they make the playoffs and a host of non-football topics. The Bills are in a fight for their playoffs lives. Being optimistic that they'll make the postseason, Patrick answers a question from someone wanting to know who he'd most and least like to see as an opponent for the first round. He's also asked to come up with a player from another team he'd most love to see on Buffalo and the worst moment he can remember as a Bills fans. There's also a handful of questions answered that have little or nothing to do with sports, including three favorite pizza places, when Patrick's new wing rankings are coming out, most and least favorite podcasts interviews and the least favorite Christmas song of all-time. That and and plenty more on today's Fan Friday.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 686Buffalo vs Dallas Preview; Confidence in the Bills
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino from Buffalo Rumblings to preview a monster Sunday showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys and offer game predictions. For the time being anyway, the Bills saved their 2023 season last week by going into Kansas City and winning on the road. Anthony has as few thoughts to close that game out before the guys focus their attention on Dallas and specifically, their MVP frontrunning candidate Dak Prescott. They discuss what will undoubtedly be a difficult matchup for the Bills defense, not to mention the task on the other side of ball trying to contain all-world pass rusher Micah Parsons and and having Josh Allen avoid throwing a pick-six to DaRon Bland, who's already set a NFL record this season. That plus why the guys are still reasonably confident in Buffalo this week, did last week's Sean McDermott article from Tyler Dunne help turn the Buffalo season around, fallback from Dunne's series, Dallas game picks and much more.Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino and check out Buffalo Rumblings, featuring written and podcast/vidcast content pretty much daily.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 685Bills Film Study & PFF Grade Analysis, Week 14
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has his weekly thoughts and observations on the Buffalo Bills after watching the coaches All-22 film and analyzing the PFF grades of an absolutely critical road victory over the Kansas City Chiefs that for all intents and purposes keeps their AFC playoff hopes alive going into the final four games of the season. It wasn't particularly pretty on either side of the ball as both the film and PFF grades demonstrate but the Bills found a way to earn a game they needed to have. Patrick talks about James Cook emerging as arguably the Bills best offensive weapon and needing to be on the field for more than roughly half the snaps going forward. Plus, Josh Allen played well considering he was often under siege behind an offensive line that didn't block well, an unlikely pass catcher made one of the biggest plays of the game, and what's going on with Pro Bowl receiver Stefon Diggs? On the other side of the ball Patrick raves about the job Taron Johnson did and gives credit for some timely pass rushing, including Von Miller on the final drive. The defense took the ball away twice and held Kansas City to just three points on their last four possessions, but Patrick sees major tackling issues that will rear its ugly head against Dallas and other teams remaining on the schedule if they don't fix it quickly. That plus a look ahead to the Cowboys, wondering if the Tyler Dunne piece on Sean McDermott really did galvanize the locker room in rallying behind him and much more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 684Bills Deserve More Credit for KC Win, Plus Live Sabres/Yotes Reaction
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective to discuss the Buffalo Bills lacking the credit they deserve for going into Arrowhead and getting a critical win over the Chiefs in addition to live instant reaction of the Buffalo Sabres home clash with the Arizona Coyotes. The Bills for all intents and purposes kept their season alive on Sunday with a three point victory over the Chiefs. That said, at least on the previous episode of this show it feels like there was too much passed off on the win being lucky for Buffalo and not enough props for going into a tough stadium and beating the defending Super Bowl champs on the road. The guys talk about that and a Bills team that was far from perfect on either side of the ball but effective enough to improve their record to 7-6 on the season and set up a huge showdown in Orchard Park against Dallas this coming weekend. With this episode being recorded immediately following the Sabres game against Arizona late on Monday night and streamed live on the video side, the guys also have instant feedback from that as well as a discussion on how maddeningly inconsistent the team has been through their first 29 games of the season. That and plenty more. Ep 683Instant Reaction: Bills Survive Chiefs For Critical Win
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by longtime friend and recurring guest Tone Pucks for his weekly visit for live instant reaction following the Buffalo Bills surviving on the road for a 20-17 crucial victory over the Kansas City Chiefs to throw them firmly in the AFC wildcard picture. On the video side this show was recorded live and the guys struggle to believe Buffalo walked off the field with a win, seeing this is absolutely the kind of game the Bills always find a way to lose. This time that didn't happen and Pucks considers the Bills win simply lucky while Patrick's far more willing to credit the defense and embattled head coach Sean McDermott. One thing they definitely agree about is that it's great for the Bills to be on the beneficial end of a controversial call that hugely decided the game. They also talk about Joe Brady doing a good job early on but falling apart some in the second half--ditto for Josh Allen and some individual standouts that had a big game or at least big moments---including Taron Johnson, James Cook and Deonte Harty. That plus reflection on a crazy week with the Bills leading up to the game reviewed and much more.Follow Tone Pucks on Twitter @TonePucksRedux♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 682Fan Friday: Dunne vs McDermott, Miller Returns, Best Bills LB Ever
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, host Patrick Moran takes some questions and comments, many of them having to do with Tyler Dunne's scathing feature story on Buffalo Bills head coach, Sean McDermott here on “Fan Friday” or as Patrick likes to call it—-mailing in today’s show.Dunne, creator of Go Long dropped a stunning 21,000 word, three-part series on Thursday that examined Sean McDermott in an unflattering way both as a game day head coach and on the other six days of the week as well. Patrick has plenty of thoughts on the articles, the job Tyler did putting them together and the reaction, ranging from appreciate and supportive to downright hateful. Also, Von Miller returned to practice Thursday and by all accounts, seems like he'll play on Sunday when the Bills travel to Kansas City for a crucial showdown with the Chiefs. Patrick's asked about and has takes on Miller returning to the team so quickly following their bye week arrest, Ryan O'Halloran's excellent article on the topic in The Buffalo News this past week and how the team has handled it.He also fields questions on the NBA's new in-season tournament, the best linebacker in Bills history, a Bills/Chiefs prediction, who Patrick would love to see as Bills head coach and plenty more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 681Bills vs Chiefs Preview, Predictions
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino from Buffalo Rumblings to preview an absolutely critical Buffalo Bills road game at Kansas City on Sunday in addition to offering game predictions. The season may not technically be over for the Bills if they can't go to Arrowhead and get a win against the Chiefs this weekend, but for all intents and purposes it just may be, even if Anthony disagrees. The guys talk about the significance of this game and spend some time talking a Kansas City team that's kind of been a mess offensively but has actually been great on the other side of the ball. Also, Patrick goes over what he thinks are the three biggest keys to a Bills victory and the guys offer their game picks. Anthony stunned Patrick two weeks ago by picking against the Bills---will he do it two straight games? That plus Patrick gets made fun of for his Thanksgiving day photo, their Finish the Sentence segment and much more.Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino and check out Buffalo Rumblings, featuring written and podcast/vidcast content pretty much daily.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 680A Candid Von Miller Conversation, Plus WTF Sabres
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by longtime friend and recurring guest Tone Pucks for a second consecutive day, this time to have a conversation about Von Miller from both a human and football standpoint in addition to expressing (much) frustration with the Buffalo Sabres. There's only so much that can be said with a limited amount of information being made to the public as of this recording, but the guys have opinions on Miller's present and future with the Bills following his arrest last week, even with the victim almost immediately recanting. They also question, fairly if fan reaction to how the team should handle the allegations would be different were Miller still playing at a high level. They also talk about the Sabres and a series of woes that have their season already in some trouble before we even get to Christmas. From non-existent offensive production at the bottom of the lineup to playing a small and soft hockey style to a messy goaltending situation, how much criticism does Kevyn Adams deserve for some offseason signings and early season roster management? Can the Sabres hold on until the team gets healthy and can Adams afford to trust youngsters to come up and produce? That, their long history with fantasy football, Super Bowls and much more. Ep 679Do or Die Time Starts Now For Bills
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by longtime friend and recurring guest Tone Pucks for his weekly visit to discuss how we've now officially entered the do or die portion of the Buffalo Bills season with five games left to go---and we're not far off from the Buffalo Sabres having the same fate even if it's still early December. The Bills have five games remaining on the season and the schedule isn't easy, starting Sunday in Kansas City against the Chiefs. The guys talk about how Buffalo needs to win at least four to even have a reasonable chance to get in as an AFC wild card, with Tone Pucks remaining someone skeptical. If the Bills play lousy down the stretch and fail to get in, could Sean McDermott be in trouble despite a credible report from Tim Graham saying there's almost no chance he's getting fired? Also, Patrick has enough confidence in two teams to offer a Super Bowl prediction and a potential Tyrek Hill NFL MVP. That plus does Tone Pucks have a clean bill of health and much more. Ep 678Fan Friday: Von Arrested, McDermott's Future & More Bills/Sabres Stuff
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is solo and takes some questions and comments on "Fan Friday" or as Patrick likes to call it----mailing in today's show.Among the topics discussed today is instant reaction to the allegations and pending arrest of star Buffalo Bills defensive end Von Miller on domestic abuse charges, the chances of Bills head coach Sean McDermott losing his job, a peak into the free agent and salary cap situation of the Bills once they get to the offseason, ranking the most season detrimental losses to this point and non-Josh Allen things to still love about the team.Patrick also gets into the Sabres not signing Patrick Kane, if Devon Levi going to Rochester is a good thing, CM Punk returning to WWE and more.Enjoy the weekend----get out and/or stay home and do some Christmas stuff!♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 677"It Ain't Over" Film Director Sean Mullin
EOn this special edition of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by film director Sean Mullin to discuss the highly acclaimed and sensational Yogi Berra documentary "It Ain't Over" that's currently airing on Netflix. When we say "It's Not Over' has been one of the most highest scored documentary reviews of all-time, that's quite literally not an exaggeration. It has a Tomatometer score of 98% and audience approval rating of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. Patrick talks about stumbling upon the film on Netflix and putting it on with the intention of working background noise before being pulled into just minutes in.Sean spends some time talking about his life and career, including growing up in Indiana, going to West Point, living in New York and doing comedy and why he ultimately moved out to the west coast. They then get into the documentary and Sean talks about the process of getting the film made, how he went about getting some of the key talking heads, key parts of the film and the incredible reception it's received.I would say if you're a New York Yankees fan or even a fan of the history of baseball, this is a must-watch film. It certainly is but's also so much more. This is a film about one of the great American success stories and goes way beyond sports. Hell, there's even Oscars buzz floating around "It Ain't Over" and it's a honor to have Mullin on to discuss it all.Go check out "it Ain't Over" on either Netflix or Amazon Prime. Ep 676Bills Film Study & PFF Grade Analysis, Week 12
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has his weekly thoughts and observations on the Buffalo Bills after watching the coaches All-22 film and analyzing the PFF grades of a crushing overtime loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that now has this team on the brink of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2018.You saw it live during the game on TV Sunday and film study reveals the same----Sean McDermott's decisions near the end of the game are puzzling to say the least, if not cowardly. On the offensive ball it was obvious that Josh Allen deserved a better fate while defensively the film shows it's pretty obvious that any defensive tackle not named Ed Oliver is not doing much positive at all.Patrick also goes over some interesting PFF grades assigned from the game, including a mixed bag from the offensive line, Tyrel Dodson coming back down to earth and an extremely worrisome game from former Pro Bowl safety Micah Hyde. That and plenty more Bills notes, grades and thoughts from a team that very well may have to win their final five games to get to the postseason.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 675Bills Fallout From Philly, Plus Sabres Smack The Rangers (Live Reaction)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective to discuss some of the fallout from the Buffalo Bills devastating overtime loss in Philadelphia that has their playoff lives in serious jeopardy in addition to live postgame reaction following the Buffalo Sabres road contest at the New York Rangers.Long after Jalen Hurts ran into the end zone to secure an overtime Philadelphia Eagles win over the Bills on Sunday, Patrick's still on a heater when it comes to Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott. The guys pour over mistakes McDermott continues to make, especially late in tight games that in large part could very well cost his team a playoff spot. Should McDermott get fired and will he are entirely different things.Staying on the Bills, the guys also talk about selective player accountability, atrocious special teams and some free agent disappointments that've hurt the team in 2023.They guys also discuss the Sabres road game in New York Monday night against the Rangers just minutes after it ends. That and much more. You can follow PK on Twitter @PK_BSC and check out the Buffalo Sports Collective podcast.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 674Instant Reaction: Bills Demoralizing OT Loss in Philly
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is admittedly demoralized, quite possibly as demoralized as the Buffalo Bills themselves after the Bills found a way to add yet another improbable loss to their resume, this time an overtime defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles that has Buffalo's 2023 season on the brink of full failure. After a dominating defensive effort in the first half the Bills defense couldn't make a stop to save their life when it mattered, and for the third time this season the Bills failed to hold a lead inside the final two minutes of the game. Patrick's got heated thoughts towards head coach Sean McDermott, both for gag jobs as defensive coordinator and head coach. It's becoming a consensus that McDermott's taken this franchise as far as their going to go, but is that enough for Terry Pegula to make a change?Patrick also talks about a bunch of missed opportunities for Buffalo to put the game away, some atrocious individual player performances and equally atrocious officiating, being outkicked and outplayed when it mattered most.Is the Buffalo Bills 2023 season officially toast? Patrick's got honest thoughts on that and plenty more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 673Bills vs Eagles Preview, Predictions
EOn this Black Friday episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Anthony Marino from Buffalo Rumblings for a second consecutive day, this time to preview the Buffalo Bills vs Philadelphia Eagles showdown on Sunday and offer predictions--with Anthony's prediction stunning Patrick. The Eagles have the best record in the NFL at 9-1 and come off a road victory over Kansas City last Monday night. That said, the Eagles are far from unbeatable and have struggled to win games convincingly with more than half of their wins coming by one score. The guys talk some of the keys to the game for a Buffalo perspective. They also spend time discussing Von Miller's lack of any impact on the Buffalo defense and Patrick is starting to question if it may be time to shut him down for 2023. Anthony disagrees---mostly.They also offer their predictions for the game, talk about Black Friday, Christmas season officially arriving, Patrick surprises Anthony with his all-time favorite college basketball players countdown and more.Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino and check out Buffalo Rumblings, featuring written and podcast/vidcast content pretty much daily.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 672A Talking Buffalo Thanksgiving
EOn this Thanksgiving day episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino from Buffalo Rumblings to discuss the Buffalo Bills, more specifically a dive into their offense and of course, Thanksgiving. After looking dormant for large stretches of games dating back several weeks, the Bills offense came to life last week against a very good New York Jets defense. The guys talk about the instant impact Joe Brady had as offensive coordinator--not just with schemes and X's and O's but seemingly encouraging a platform for the players to go out and have fun. Sounds silly but the difference was visible. They also talk about the Gabe Davis conundrum as the wide receiver was held without a catch again against New York and has had a good number of non-factor performances. Is it really his fault though? Also, the offense was clicking without much from Stefon Diggs last week but is that wise going forward? They also discuss today's holiday and dedicate their regular "Finish the Sentence" segment to all things Thanksgiving. That and much more. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino and check out Buffalo Rumblings, featuring written and podcast/vidcast content pretty much daily.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channe Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 671Bills Film Study & PFF Grades Analysis, Week 11
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has his weekly thoughts and observations on the Buffalo Bills after watching the coaches All-22 film and analyzing the PFF grades of a dominating 32-6 victory over the New York Jets in an absolute must-win game that has Buffalo at 6-5 and in position to get themselves squarely back in the AFC postseason conversation. The presence of new offensive coordinator Joe Brady was quite apparent both on the telecast and also in the film room. Patrick talks about the offense using motion and other looks significantly more than weeks past and a concerted effort to have the running backs matter in the passing game--evidenced by the backs catching two touchdown passes. The defense looked every bit as strong on film and in the PFF grade spectrum as it appeared to, albeit against a really (really) bad offense. There were a few specific standouts worth talking about individually here.Patrick also talks about a pair of polarizing players not helping the team currently, Gabe Davis and Von Miller and how he thinks things should play out with them going forward. That and plenty more Bills notes, grades and thoughts from a performance strong enough to renew hopes among fans of the team catching fire.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 670Let's Go, Buffalo?
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by writer and sports media personality Joe Yerdon to discuss a rare double win for Buffalo on Sunday as both the Bills and Sabres got much needed victories. Is that a sign of things to come for both or just a randomly good day for Buffalo sports? The Bills took their first step towards salvaging their season by soundly defeating the New York Jets, a team that's given Buffalo fits in recent years. The guys talk about the debut of Joe Brady as offensive coordinator Joe Brady and some of the weapons that are emerging in the Buffalo offense. They also discuss if it really matters that Gabe Davis is doing nothing statistically and also if it may be time for the Bills to pull the plug on Von Miller for 2023 if they don't see something soon.On the hockey side, Joe has insight on the Sabres struggles of late, both in terms of scoring goals, especially on a power play that's been horrific and also some concerns behind the pipes. On the bright side, the guys discuss Rasmus Dahlin lighting it up again and JJ Peterka having the type of breakout season Jack Quinn did last season. That plus The Banshee, some Thanksgiving week talk and plenty more.Follow Joe on Twitter @JoeYerdon, subscribe to his Noted Hockey site on Substack and be sure to listen to Joe and Lance Lysowski’s “Maintenance Day podcast every Monday.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Also, Deonte Harty's nothing more than a very expensive punt returner, Gabe Davis is silent, Von Miller makes no impact and defensive injuries continue to mount. They also spend some time talking Buffalo Sabres and much more. That and much more. EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, it’s another installment of the “Live from Imperial” series as Patrick Moran is joined by Expected Buffalo creator and Buffalo Sabres blogger Chad DeDominicis to discuss turbulent times for both the Sabres and Buffalo Bills in a conversation shot live from Imperial Pizza in South Buffalo. The Sabres have been treading water as they near the quarter mark of the 2023-24 regular season, not getting buried in the standings but not climbing them either. Chad has thoughts on their expectations and process in addition to Tage Thompson's injury, if Zach Benson will spend season in Buffalo, less than desirable starts from some good players and the Victor Olofsson conundrum.Even though Chad's a "hockey" guy he's plenty locked into the Bills as well, and the guys talk about the shocking developments that have Buffalo going from Super Bowl favorite to a team that's strongly flirting with not even making the playoffs. What's wrong with Josh Allen this year, was firing Ken Dorsey the right move and is Sean McDermott making himself accountable enough? Ep 666Ken Dorsey's Firing Is Deserved But Doesn't Solve Biggest Issue
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran discusses the Buffalo Bills firing of offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey on Tuesday morning--how much of it is deserves and how much of it is Dorsey being the scapegoat for bigger problems. The writing appeared to be be on the wall during Sean McDermott's post-game press conference in the minutes following their embarrassing 24-22 last second loss at home in prime time to Denver, when the Bills coach was directly critical of the offense and to some extent, Dorsey. Patrick has thoughts on the firing, concluding that it's deserved if not overdue but to simply think the team's fortunes on offense let alone overall will turnaround solely because of this move is ludricous.Patrick talks about why he thinks the head coach is the even bigger problem, though conceding it's nearly a lock McDermott's not going anywhere regardless how bad the season end. He also has thoughts on Josh Allen just not being right physically or emotionally, and Von Miller's lack of impact getting to the point that his reps may be hurting the team. That plus depression sets in on the Sabres as Tage Thompson suffers a significant injury on Tuesday and much more. Ugh.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 665Live Reaction: The 2023 Buffalo Bills Are Toast
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran recorded (also lived streamed) literally just minutes after the Buffalo Bills blew a late lead, and very likely their season by losing at home in prime time to the Denver Broncos in most improbable standards---even by Buffalo standards. Most of Patrick's ire is directed towards head coach Sean McDermott for several reasons, ranging from his decision to have an all-out blitz on third and 10 with Denver out of field goal position and needing to convert to have a shot to win the game, to not communicating with special teams before the inexcusable penalty to give the Broncos another chance and to sounding like he's not taking nearly enough accountability as the head coach when talking to the media afterwards.Patrick also has plenty of criticism towards Josh Allen, who by and large sucked and was legitimately outplayed by Russ Wilson on Monday night. Ken Dorsey continues to be the punching bag for most if not all offensive problems but the only issue Patrick has with him is not running the ball more against a team that was incapable of stopping it.He also talks about how he feels at 5-5 the Bills are the most underachieving team in the entire NFL and that their realistic playoff chances are pretty much dead. That and much more chaos in this episode thrown together with no show prep or notes on the fly.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 662Bills Can't Falter Against Surging Broncos
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino from Buffalo Rumblings to discuss some of the things ailing the Buffalo Bills before taking a look at the Denver Broncos in advance of their Monday night showdown next week at Highmark Stadium---a game the Bills simply cannot afford to lose.Patrick and Anthony chat about if Bills head coach seems to be lacking any accountability on the coaching side for the team's struggles. Also, Josh Allen's struggles can't all be blamed on Ken Dorsey and they talk Dalton Kincaid becoming a huge factor in the offense, although Anthony's not quite so quick to forgive his costly fumble versus the Bengals as Patrick was.Meanwhile the Denver Broncos come to Buffalo next week on a two-game winning streak and fresh off a bye. With a daunting closing stretch already staring them in the face, the Bills best not treat this game like a cakewalk, especially with a defense that's now even further decimated with injuries. They also do their regular "Finish the Sentence" segment and much more. Twitter @AnthMarino and check out Buffalo Rumblings, featuring written and podcast/vidcast content pretty much daily.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 661Bills Film Study & Grades Analysis From Week Nine
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has his weekly thoughts and observations on the Buffalo Bills after watching the coaches All-22 film and analyzing the PFF grades of an ugly loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in prime time that dropped them to 5-4 on the season and raises legitimate questions about this is even a playoff team let alone a championship caliber squad.Film study along with the naked eye reveals to Patrick that among other things Sean McDermott's personnel in the secondary doesn't seem to match his aggressive defensive attack philosophy, Von Miller having no business being on the field for the game's most critical defensive play, every thing seeming to feel like a grind for the Bills offense---laboring for points and first downs that feel more effortless to other teams and a handful of PFF grades that feel a bit too generous.Patrick also talks about the puzzling inconsistent production of Gabe Davis, Deonte Harty feeling like a waste of money as things stand, big struggles for a Bills rookie and an admirable job by linebacker Tyrel Dodson. That and plenty more Bills notes, grades and thoughts from yet another disappointing offensive showing. ♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s SubstackTwitter: @PatMoranTweets.Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices.
