The Buffalo Bills Curtis Samuel Splash

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran discusses the at least moderately surprising Buffalo Bills free agent signing of wide receiver Curtis Samuel to a three-year contract on Thursday, highlighting what he likes most about the move as well as a few of his biggest concerns. It appeared as though Brandon Beane was contempt due to salary cap restrictions to work on retaining as many of his own guys as possible with a few depth-filling additions along the way. Certainly seemed like the case earlier on Thursday when it was reported the club was re-signing backup running back Ty Johnson. Then in the early evening news broke that the Bills were inking Samuel to a three-year deal worth $24 million and a chance to earn up to $30 million, with $15 million guaranteed. That's not depth/role player money and Patrick has a litany of takes on Samuel, what he's done in his career, how he fits into this offense and on other side, wonders if it will take away from some of the development we saw from Khalil Shaker last year and perhaps more worrisome, does it make drafting a wide receiver in the first round feel like less a necessity with Samuel in tow. Also, Patrick talks about why he likes bringing back Johnson so much, provides and update and a few thoughts on where a host of now former Bills landed on Thursday, and (finally) throws some love to the Buffalo Sabres without any sarcasm attached. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s Substack Twitter: @PatMoranTweets.
