Special Episode: How to Manage Stress and Anxiety During the Coronavirus Pandemic

Let's face it: These are scary, uncertain and potentially highly stressful times. News about the Coronavirus COVID-19 fills our timelines and our TV screens, and we're all having to make major adjustments to our lives and routines, which have basically been turned upside down. Though we know we will get through this (and I believe we will!), we have to acknowledge that this is a trauma none of us has ever experienced before -- and as women, especially, we need space to talk some of this stuff through. So I recently hosted our first of many "Wine Down" sessions for Support is Sexy -- where we grab a glass of wine (or tea) and have a conversation online with a woman expert in different categories about what's going on in our lives. And right now, what most of us are thinking about (and likely stressing about) is the Coronavirus. We had a beautiful conversation with Licensed Mental Health Counselor Robin D. Stone, who helped us talk through how to manage stress and anxiety during these times; how to breathe through it all; and how to do what we need to do to feel good. Women on the call were also able to ask THEIR questions. It was exactly what was wanted and needed in this moment. Special Episode: Dr. Khadeja Johnson's YouTube Video is a Powerful Plea for You to Stay Home During the Coronavirus COVID-19

Three weeks ago when things started to get really real with the Coronavirus COVID-19, I was feeling sort of helpless. Like many, I didn't know what I could do to help others in the world who were facing this pandemic — which all of us are in different ways, yet in the same ways. It was — and still is — confusing, not knowing what information to trust, but wanting to do all the right things to keep yourself, your family, your loved ones and your neighbors safe. Dr. Khadeja Johnson's YouTube video gave me hope. In a heartfelt and at times tearful plea, Dr. Johnson — who is board certified in Internal Medicine and has over 14 years of service to Morehouse School of Medicine and Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA, — sat in her home, turned on her camera, and implored us all to stay home. She explained that this was truly a matter of saving lives — yours, others and the healthcare workers on which we all depend. And she shared the scary-yet-necessary conversation she had to have with her son about what happens if mommy doesn't come home. Still it gave me hope. Perhaps because I felt like hers was a face and a voice I had yet to see featured in all the news I'd been watching. She was going to reach more people. A doctor, but also a mom, to whom many of us as women would be able to relate. I reached out to Dr. KJ, as she is called, immediately and asked her if she'd be open to coming on one of my video chats that I recently started doing "Wine Down Conversations" that I host Thursday evenings at 8pm EST. These are conversations I began to do with women who have expertise in areas that will support us all as we work to survive and heal and take care of ourselves through this shared crisis. (My way of helping.) She said yes, and this special episode of the Support is Sexy podcast is that conversation. We talk about the myths that still surround the Coronavirus COVID-19, why you really must stay home, how to speak to your parents about the disease, how Dr. KJ spoke to her young teenager about it and why, no matter what, you have to have the courage to use your voice. 726: Everybody Can't Come (And That's Okay!)

In this flashback episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, I share something we all have to realize eventually — especially if you're up to something, creating something, trying something new and making moves. Everybody ain't gonna get it, so everybody can't come along for the ride. And you know what? We shouldn't expect them to. On this episode, I talked about the big move I had and how I realized that everybody can't come along. I also shared other ways that we can get support when the people we thought would show up and be there just…don't, and my suggestions for how you might structure your friend circle. Ep 702Ballerina Misty Copeland Talks about Transitions, Being a 'First' and Charting Her Next Move as an Entrepreneur

In 2015, Misty Copeland became the first Black woman to be promoted to Principal Dancer at the American Ballet Theatre in the company's 75-year history. She grew up in San Pedro, CA, and has been dancing since she was 13. Now 37, married, and icon and in a different place in her life (and within her body), Misty is charting her next move with intention. But dance isn't the only passion that Misty is shaping to fit where she is nowadays. She is also thinking more about her business and how she wants to have an impact as an entrepreneur. Not one to just put her name on a product and let it go, she is serious about making products that matter, such as a dance wear line that reflects women of all colors. Ep 698698: 2020 Vision with Vision Coach and Spiritual Teacher Barbara Biziou

Say "yes." Spiritual teacher Barbara Biziou has taught me, and thousands of her students around the world (Donna Karan and Gabby Bernstein among them), many things over the years, but one of the most powerful for me is embracing the possibility of "yes." Barbara says we, as creative women looking for new experiences, say it far too little. Barbara is a student of global culture and rituals who uses "practical spirituality" to support you in creating an extraordinary life. I met her in 2010 during a time I said "yes" when, after a dinner in NYC with my friend Tai Beauchamp, I ended up accompanying Tai to one of Barbara's vision board workshop. I had never heard of Barbara Biziou – or vision board workshops – but after standing there and hearing what it was all about, I said "yes," even though I didn't know exactly what it was. I've been creating vision boards with Barbara every year ever since – for my personal life and for my business. Now, Barbara is prepping for her 2020 Vision Board Workshop in New York from Friday, January 17 - Sunday, January 19th -- which I can't wait to attend! And in this episode, which is a rewind of her first appearance on Episode 9 of the Support is Sexy podcast on July 17, 2016, she shares the power of vision, beliefs and intention, and why , as women it's important that we understand each. Danielle Mercurio is a confidence coach and meditation teacher empowering others to be successful and live meaningful lives.
