04/17/2021 – The Jason McIntyre Show – NFL Smokescreens, NBA Injuries, Trevor Lawrence
Jason McIntyre sifts through all of the latest rumors ahead of the NFL Draft and tries to make sense of some of the biggest head-scratchers. He talks about the troubling trend of injuries in the NBA and explains why he’s confident that Trevor Lawrence will see instant success in the NFL. Plus, he puts an end to one of the biggest myths about the ‘old guard’ in the NBA!Guests: Buccaneers sideline reporter T.J. Is LaMarcus Aldridge a Hall of Famer? + Former UCLA coach and FS1 college basketball analyst Steve Lavin
On today's episode, Jason and Producer Rob G discuss LaMarcus Aldridge's abrupt retirement from the NBA due to an irregular heartbeat. While most in the NBA media are focusing on how this could impact the Brooklyn Nets' title chances this season, the guys agree that this could be a case of addition by subtraction. Aldridge was a luxury item in Brooklyn. If anything, his absence should lead to more minutes for defensive bigs like DeAndre Jordan and Nic Claxton. The bigger story in all of this, at least according to Jason and Rob G, is whether or not Aldridge belongs in the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame. Even without a championship ring on his resume, you could argue that Aldridge had a better pro career than guys like Chris Bosh and Kevin Love. Even with his career getting cut short, Aldridge should still be considered a Hall of Famer. Later, former UCLA Bruins head coach and FS1 college basketball producer Steve Lavin swings by to discuss how he ended up spending 4 months straight on the road as part of FS1's college hoops coverage, how the transfer portal could impact the sport moving forward, if coaches may lean more into recruiting high-end transfers as opposed to one-and-done freshmen, why it's going to be extremely important for coaches to be more flexible in their approach to the game if they're going to successfully navigate the shift towards transfers, what he learned from legendary coach John Wooden, how alternative paths to the NBA like the G-League, JBL and Overtime leagues could impact college basketball moving forward, how the Name Image Likeness bill could be what ultimately keeps top-level recruits in the college game, and much more! Trevor Lawrence is the Anti-Baker Mayfield & The 76ers Cakewalk to the Eastern Conference Finals
On today's episode, Jason does a deep dive into Trevor Lawrence telling Sports Illustrated that he thinks it's unhealthy to spend your career always feeling like you need to prove something. These comments immediately make you think of Baker Mayfield, a young quarterback who famously uses every public slight as motivation. Mayfield has been out to 'prove the haters wrong' dating back to his days as a walk-on in college. However, that mentality is precisely what derailed him a bit early on his career. It wasn't until this past season that he started to tune out the noise that he started to settle in. On the flip side, Lawrence figured that part out as a teenager. He's mature beyond his years. He has a staggering level of self-awareness for a 21-year-old. One look at his social media pages will tell you that football doesn't define him, and that should be commended. Now, the counterpoint to that would be: Can you really trust the fate of your franchise with a guy who doesn't seem to love football like that? That's a fascinating question. In many ways, Lawrence has a lot in common with the last once-in-a-generation quarterback prospect: Andrew Luck. But before injuries derailed his career, Luck was one of the top young signal callers in the NFL. If he can stay upright, bet on Lawrence reaching the heights we hoped Luck would have. Finally, Jason closes things with a quick thought on the Philadelphia 76ers' victory over the Brooklyn Nets. On the surface, there's not much to take from Philly's win over a depleted Nets roster. However, dig a little deeper and you'll see this win could set up the Sixers for a cakewalk all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. Reggie Miller is a Fibber, NBA Fans Love the 90s & the Play-In Conundrum
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a deep dive into Hall of Fame shooting guard Reggie Miller telling ESPN.com that he would've never considered teaming up with Michael Jordan back in the day. Stop it, Reggie; We don't believe you. The whole narrative that players of the 90s didn't believe in teaming up has been completely overblown. Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen and Karl Malone are just a handful of Hall of Famers who famously forced their way to a different team in search of greener pastures. And who could blame them? History tells us that you can't always trust the NBA front offices to make smart decisions, so if you have the power, why wouldn't you want to take your career into your own hands? Thankfully, players today recognize where the 90s Era NBA went wrong (in more ways than one) and they're doing things differently. As it relates to Miller specifically, it's crazy to think that they wouldn't even consider teaming up with MJ. Reggie's career isn't as impressive as some talking heads would have you believe; He didn't have much postseason success at all until Jordan retired. In many ways, his career compares favorably to DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan is a very good player who kept getting stymied in the playoffs by an all-time great player in LeBron James in the same way Miller kept getting blocked by Jordan. Later, Jason tells us why he has a small bone to pick with Luka Doncic and Mark Cuban for ripping the NBA's play-in tournament format. First off, single-game elimination makes any sporting event better. That's just a fact. Secondly, would either guy even be talking if the Mavs were the 1-seed instead of the 7-seed? Of course not. Julian Edelman is Not a Hall of Famer + Yahoo Sports Senior NFL reporter Charles Robinson
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a quick thought on Julian Edelman's retirement from the NFL and tells us that while Edelman is a great story, he is absolutely not a Hall of Famer. That's not a knock on Edelman's abilities in any way; On the contrary, he's a very good football player. But if fellow quarterback-turned-wide receiver Hines Ward can't sniff Canton then neither should Edelman. Later, Yahoo Sports Senior NFL reporter Charles Robinson swings by to discuss how the lack of the NFL Combine will impact the upcoming NFL Draft, why the San Francisco 49ers pick at #3 will have everything to do with Kyle Shanahan's confidence in himself as a coach - whether that's Mac Jones or someone else, why Trey Lance's skill set makes him a perfect fit with the Atlanta Falcons, why drafting NFL quarterbacks is such an inexact science, why the litigation process could be necessary to get the full truth behind the Deshaun Watson sexual assault allegations and how the NFL could decide to put him on the commissioner's exempt list whether he's found guilty or not, how all the uncertainty and turnover surrounding the top teams in the NFC should greatly benefit the defending champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, why Aaron Rodgers may not trust the Green Bay Packers front office, and much more! The Brooklyn Nets Can't Trust Kyrie Irving
On today's episode, Jason kicks things by sharing his thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers shocking blowout victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night. One of the bigger storylines to come out of the game, outside of the Nets losing to a shorthanded Lakers club, was that both Kyrie Irving and Dennis Schroder both got ejected in the third quarter for barking at one another. On Sunday evening, we found out that Kyrie was set off when Schroder called him the n-word, after he went off on a social media rant about it. While this specific incident seems relatively mild given that the word wasn't said maliciously, apparently it was enough for Kyrie to take another sabbatical away from the team for 'personal reasons'. Kyrie is one of the most skilled players in the NBA, but his behavior and commentary the past year is puzzling. At this point, would you be surprised if he were to retire at the end of the season? Even worse, would you be surprised if he just didn't show up to a playoff game for 'personal reasons'? He's had almost everything an NBA player could ask for (a championship, All-Star appearances, a stacked Brooklyn Nets roster, generational wealth, etc.), and you'd have no idea based on his behavior the last two seasons. Kyrie's mental and emotional well-being should be the biggest subplot in the NBA Playoffs - and it could be ultimately what keeps them from winning the NBA championship. Can't Blame Kevin Durant, Kobe > Magic? & LeBron's Trump Card in the GOAT Debate
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a quick thought on multiple reports suggesting that the San Francisco 49ers have settled in on Alabama quarterback Mac Jones as the #3 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. After the season, Jones was viewed as a fringe first rounder, at best - so what changed? Something doesn't quite smell right here. Later, Jason shares his thoughts on Kevin Durant's recent comments about his decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors in 2016. KD still gets ripped for the move five years later, but Jason argues that any criticism of Durant is unwarranted. He did what was best for him. He exercised his rights as a free agent and choose a location that offered him the best chance to win and played a beautiful brand of basketball. Producer Rob G joins in on the discussion to poke a few holes in Jason's argument, but also to point out that Durant's comments told an even bigger story: KD and Draymond Green knew they couldn't beat LeBron James without each other. It would take a Super Team to dethrone The King. And that may be LeBron's biggest trump card in the GOAT debate: Three separate Super Teams (2008 Boston Celtics, 2017 Warriors and 2021 Brooklyn Nets) have been formed specifically to combat LeBron. Not to be lost in all the KD-LeBron talk, Rob G also said in the midst of this discussion that he has Kobe Bryant over Magic Johnson in his all-time player rankings. Wait, what?!? Of course Jason pushed back, but it did lead to a fascinating discussion about two of the greatest players in NBA history. ESPN senior writer and author Seth Wickersham on Belichick, Brady & The Patriot Way
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a very quick thought on Kevin Durant's return against the New Orleans Pelicans. KD looked like the Durant of old, albeit against a depleted New Orleans Pelicans. Later, ESPN senior writer and author Seth Wickersham swings by to preview his upcoming book 'It's Better to Be Feared: The New England Patriots Dynasty and the Pursuit of Greatness'. In the interview, Wickersham discusses the difficulties of interviewing guys like Bill Belichick and Tom Brady before and during a pandemic, why Belichick's criticisms of his quarterback inside the Patriots locker room were partly the reason why Brady decided he had to leave (10:00), how Bill Parcells' coaching style with the New York Giants influenced Belichick's style with the Patriots, if we can expect to see a 'kinder and gentler' version of Belichick next season after his tumultuous season in 2020, why it's hard to determine how friendly Belichick and Brady are today, how Brady and Rob Gronkowski were able to adjust to football life outside of the 'Patriot Way', and much more! The REAL Top 5 NBA Players Under 25 + Sports media reporter Ryan Glasspiegel
On today's episode, Jason and Producer Rob kicks things off with an homage to ESPN's Top 25 NBA Players Under 25 list by revealing their own top 5's. The guys agree that top 3 in order are Luka Doncic, Zion Williamson and Jayson Tatum, and that Ben Simmons belongs somewhere in the top 5, but things start to get dicey after that. Jason stumps hard for Denver Nuggets sharpshooter Jamal Murray while Rob campaigns for rookie phenom LaMelo Ball. It was a fun debate, to say the least... unless you're a fan of Trae Young and Devin Booker. Later, sports media reporter Ryan Glasspiegel swings by to discuss how he was able to break the new that ESPN had fired former NBA All-Star Paul Pierce from their network and the reasoning behind it, why it appears that Pierce will be able to find a new gig rather quickly, why there's only a handful of former professional athletes or coaches (like Charles Barkley or Terry Bradshaw) who actually move the needle on sports television, how Shannon Sharpe has evolved into one of the few former athletes on daytime sports television who has been able to really cut through in the same way opinionists like Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith have, why networks tend to consistently overpay for big name game analysts like Tony Romo and Drew Brees, the impact he expects sports wagering to have on daily sports television moving forward, why you should expect more Substack-based platforms to pop up moving forward in an effort to help talent monetize their opinions, and much more! March Madness Ends with a Whimper, Was Gonzaga Ever That Good? & How Peyton Manning Doomed the NY Jets
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing his thoughts on Baylor's demolition of Gonzaga in the national championship game. Before the game, most of the focus was on Gonzaga's quest for the perfect season, but from the opening tip, it was clear that Baylor was superior team. Based on what we saw last night, if the Bears hadn't had their season derailed by COVID, maybe they're the ones who we're talking about as the Greatest Team of All-Time. Baylor was superior in every way, and they exposed The Zags' lack of top-tier athletes. Producer Rob G argues that it felt similar to the Denver Broncos-Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl from a few years back. One team came in with all the fanfare and the record-breaking numbers, and the other came in with a reputation as a good-but-not-great squad that stood in. Later, Jason shares his thoughts on the New York Jets decision to trade Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers. Darnold never really got a fair shake in New York, thanks in large part to the team's decision to hire Adam Gase to be his head coach; Peyton Manning sold the Jets on Gase as a great offensive mind, but he forgot to mention that Gase is an absolutely atrocious leader of men. Either way, it's hard to blame the general manager (Joe Douglas) and new head coach (Robert Saleh) for wanting their own guy at quarterback. On the Panthers front, if anyone can fix Darnold, it's Carolina head coach Matt Rhule and offensive coordinator Joe Brady. You heard it here first - the Panthers are a team to bet on in 2021. The Transfer Portal Has Taken Over College Hoops + ESPN College Basketball analyst Jay Bilas
On today's episode, with tonight's National Championship matchup between Gonzaga and Baylor looming, Jason kicks things off with a quick thought on the importance of transfers in college basketball. Gonzaga has been a destination location for transfers for years, while the Bears are led by Davion Mitchell, one of the most highly sought after transfer players of the past few years. In short, whoever wins during 'transfer season' is sure to be a serious threat when the real games are played. With that mind, keep an eye out on the Maryland Terrapins next season. You heard it here first. Later, ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas swings by to break down the final sequence that led to Jalen Suggs' buzzer-beating game-winner over UCLA, discuss why he believes Gonzaga-UCLA was best college basketball game he's seen since Duke-Kentucky in 1992, explain why Gonzaga's Drew Timme could be the key to the national title game against Baylor, tell us why it would be really hard not to call this 2021 Gonzaga squad one of the greatest teams of all-time if they're able to finish out this perfect season with a national title, talk about why the current culture shift taking place in college basketball that has blue bloods scrambling a bit doesn't necessarily mean that other mid-majors can easily duplicate Gonzaga's success, dispel the notion that one-and-done players don't win in the NCAA Tournament, and much more! Final Four Predictions + Former UCLA Bruins center Ryan Hollins
On today's episode, Jason and Producer Rob G kick things off by giving out their official Final Four predictions. While most can agree that Baylor-Houston is going to be the more competitive game, the eyes of the nation will be Gonzaga-UCLA in the nightcap. It's rare that you see a true David vs. Goliath matchup this late in the tournament. Gonzaga is on the verge of history; UCLA is 11-seed that had absolutely no business making it this far. Regardless what happens, it should be a great night of hoops. Later, CBS Sports college basketball analyst and former UCLA Bruins center Ryan Hollins swings by to discuss why he thinks UCLA has a legitimate shot to upset Gonzaga in the Final Four, why he feels like Mick Cronin is doing a better coaching job this season than any coach in Bruins basketball history since John Wooden, why he believes that Cade Cunningham will be a better pro than Gonzaga star point guard Jalen Suggs, what really went down during the iconic Gonzaga-UCLA Sweet 16 showdown of 2006, why 'the next Larry Bird' Adam Morrison ended up flaming out in the NBA, why a perfect season won't be enough to make this 2021 Gonzaga squad the greatest team in college basketball history, and much more! Wait and See on Deshaun Watson, How the Pelicans are Losing Zion & the NBA's MASH Unit
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a deep dive into the latest news surrounding the Deshaun Watson sexual assault allegations. Two more lawsuits were filed against him on Wednesday, bringing the total up to 21. Watson's attorneys released statements from 18 other female masseuses who said he was completely professional during their sessions. That means that Watson has had almost 40 different women perform massages on him during his NFL career. Yes - 40. It's too soon to say if Watson is guilty or not but the fact that he sought out that many different women in such a short period of time is a little sketchy. All we can do at this point is let the legal process run its course and hope the truth comes out soon enough. Later, Producer Rob joins the show to help Jason make sense of the drama surrounding the New Orleans Pelicans organization. Former Pels guard JJ Redick ripped the front office for lying to him in his final months with the team, and Jason argues that it’s situations like this – coupled with the Anthony Davis saga and the team’s general inability to build a contender around its star players – could ultimately be what forces Zion Williamson out of town in a few years. Finally, the guys share their thoughts on Andre Drummond’s injury-shortened debut with the Los Angeles Lakers, and lament the fact that most of the NBA’s biggest stars have missed significant time this season with injury (LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid, Kevin Durant) Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

UCLA Goes First Four to Final Four, Is Gonzaga Feeling the Pressure? + The Athletic Lakers beat writer Jovan Buha
On today’s episode, Jason kicks things off with some thoughts on the UCLA Bruins’ improbable run to the Final Four. The Bruins lost their last 4 games of the regular season – and were down 16 points in their play-in game against Michigan State – but now find themselves staring down the Goliaths of Gonzaga in the Final Four. Speaking of Gonzaga, Producer Rob G swings by to discuss what kind of pressure the Bulldogs could be feeling heading into the game as heavy favorites. Gonzaga hasn’t played a close game in months, so it’ll be interesting to see how they respond going against a scrappy UCLA squad that’s playing with house money. (Full disclosure: Both Jason and Rob G expect Gonzaga to roll in this game, but still). Later, The Athletic Lakers beat writer Jovan Buha swings by to discuss how a lifelong UCLA fan ended up going to USC for college, his impressive rise in the sports media world, why he feels like the Lakers are being extremely cautious with the injuries to Anthony Davis and LeBron James, why he expects the arrival of Andre Drummond will eventually lead to Marc Gasol getting squeezed from the rotation, why he views the Utah Jazz as the least intimidating rival - and the Los Angeles Clippers as the biggest threat - in the Western Conference, how much longer he expects LeBron to play at a high level, and much more! Baylor Has the Look of a National Champion + KNBR Bay Area radio host Mark Willard
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few quick thoughts on his emotional roller coaster at the betting window during night 1 of the Elite Eight. Even still, with Houston and Baylor both coming out victorious on Monday, we're guaranteed to get at least one high-quality matchup in the Final Four. With their outside shooting and impressive guard play, the Bears have the look of a national champion - let's see if they can finish the job. Later, KNBR Bay Area radio host Mark Willard swings by to discuss the San Francisco 49ers decision to trade up to #3 in the upcoming NFL Draft, why the collective talent on the 49ers roster and Kyle Shanahan's play calling abilities are reasons why Jimmy Garoppolo became expendable, why Jimmy G is so beloved inside the locker room and why he expects his teammates to rally around their quarterback this upcoming season, why he's confident that Jimmy G will be the 49ers starting quarterback in Week 1, why he expects San Francisco would move on from Garoppolo in 2022 even if he leads the team back to the Super Bowl this season, why he feels like NDSU signal caller Trey Lance will be the 49ers pick at #3, and much more! Drummond to the Lakers > Aldridge to the Nets, Jimmy G Is Staying in SF & Elite Eight Best Bets
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing his thoughts on the big buyout acquisitions over the weekend in the NBA - LaMarcus Aldridge to the Brooklyn Nets and Andre Drummond to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Nets had already picked up Blake Griffin a few weeks ago. But, quite frankly, Drummond should have more of an impact with the Lakers than Aldridge and Griffin will combined with the Nets because at least he has a defined role. Aldridge, Griffin and Jeff Green all do the same things at this point in their careers so it's hard to determine which guy will get meaningful playing time in the postseason. On the NFL front, the San Francisco 49ers made a blockbuster trade on Friday to move up to #3 in the NFL Draft presumably to land their quarterback of the future. Naturally, many expected that would mean that incumbent starter Jimmy Garoppolo is on the trade block. Not so fast, my friend. Recent history tells us that NFL teams prefer to let their rookie quarterbacks sit on the bench for at least a few games before throwing them into the fire, especially in cases where said rookie had limited experience in college; NDSU's Trey Lance and Ohio State's Justin Fields have less than 20 collegiate starts combined. Translation - Jimmy G ain't going nowhere. Finally, Jason closes the show with a very special Elite Eight edition of the Best Bet. Lakers Say 'No' to Kyle Lowry, Heat Hit a Home Run, the Nuggets Got Next & Sweet 16 Preview
On today's episode, Jason and Producer Rob G bring you a full recap of the wild NBA Trade Deadline. The guys explain why the Los Angeles Lakers were wise not to trade away three of their rotation players for Kyle Lowry, debate if the Miami Heat's acquisition of Victor Oladipo was really the home run most in the basketball world think it was, discuss the real reason why the Boston Celtics have been reluctant to trade for a star under Danny Ainge, and tell us if the addition of Aaron Gordon instantly makes the Denver Nuggets the 2nd best team in the Western Conference. Later, ShotQuality founder Simon Gerszberg swings by to explain how he was able to develop a system to help NBA and college basketball teams quantify the quality of shots, how his system can help optimize decision-making for coaches and wagering for recreational bettors during the NCAA Tournament, why USC's blowout victory over Kansas last weekend had a lot to do with luck - same with Syracuse over San Diego State, why it's time to stop talking about Loyola Chicago as a nice Cinderella team and start talking about them as a legitimate college basketball power, why it's going to take an extremely hot shooting night for Creighton to have any chance of upsetting Gonzaga in the Sweet 16, and much more! NBA Trade Deadline buzz on Kyle Lowry, Lonzo Ball, Aaron Gordon & more!
On today's episode, Jason and Producer Rob G bring you wall-to-wall conversation on Thursday's NBA Trade Deadline. Rumor has it that Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry is the biggest name that could be on the move, but is that really saying all that much? Before Kawhi Leonard came to down, Lowry was seen as a choke artist in the playoffs. Teams like the the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat better think twice before trading for him. Speaking of point guards, the New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly listening to offers for Lonzo Ball. Jason and Rob G are split on Ball's long-term potential. Is he the long-range sniper we've seen recently in New Orleans or the brick house we saw back in Los Angeles? Either way, the Pelicans don't seem inclined to pay him the $20 million per year he's looking for and that may be the biggest reason why he ultimately gets dealt. In the Eastern Conference, all eyes are on the Boston Celtics. Would the talent upgrade in a trade for Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier be enough to offset the leadership that Marcus Smart provides? If the Celtics-Magic deal goes down as expected, the Celtics could either be one step closer to challenging the Brooklyn Nets or one step closer to a locker room meltdown. Lakers are in a Free Fall + ESPN College Basketball analyst Fran Fraschilla
On today's episode, Jason and Producer Rob G kick things with a deep dive into the Los Angeles Lakers recent nosedive down the Western Conference standings. Since LeBron James injured his ankle, the Purple and Gold are winless and losing games by 13 ppg; Without LeBron and Anthony Davis in the lineup the Lakers are statistically the worst team in the NBA. Los Angeles desperately needs one of the superstars back in the next 3 weeks if they hope to avoid the play-in games for the NBA Playoffs. Later, ESPN college basketball analyst Fran Fraschilla swings by to discuss how surreal it was being in Indianapolis for the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament, why he likes Baylor to beat Villanova and Gonzaga to roll over Creighton in the Sweet 16, how Cade Cunningham's overall lack of assertiveness was ultimately what derailed Oklahoma State's tournament run - even though Cunningham is still the safest pick at the top of the upcoming NBA Draft, why so many in the basketball world think four Pac-12 teams making the Sweet 16 is so shocking, how Oregon head coach Dana Altman is built for tournament success, why he sees superstar potential in USC big man Evan Mobley, why he thinks teams have figured out how to beat the blue blood programs like Duke and Kentucky and how he expects them to start using the transfer portal to help swing the balance of power back in their favor, and much more! College Basketball Blue Bloods at a Crossroads & the Latest NBA Trade Deadline Rumors
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a deep dive into the Pac-12's impressive run through the NCAA Tournament thus far. The Conference of Champions has 4 teams in the Sweet 16, and they all have one thing in common: bright, young head coaches. All of this begs the question - is the Pac-12's sudden surge the beginning of the end for the Blue Bloods? Duke's Mike Krzyzewski and North Carolina's Roy Williams are two of the greatest coaches in college basketball history, but UNC getting bounced in the first round and Duke missing the Tournament altogether feels like a sign of things to come; Krzyzewski and Williams have a coaching style and overall style of play may not work in today's game. The first weekend of March Madness definitely feels like a changing of the guard in college basketball. Later, Producer Rob G joins in on the action to help Jason make sense of all the latest NBA trade rumors as we approach Thursday's trade deadline. The Boston Celtics appear to be the team most in need of a shake-up, and thankfully the Orlando Magic seem willing to send them disgruntled superstar Aaron Gordon to help expedite the process. On the flip side, all signs point to Lonzo Ball leaving the New Orleans Pelicans at some point in the near future, but which team is willing to meet his reported salary demands? Point guard is arguably the deepest position in the NBA so Ball may have no choice but to accept a lesser deal this offseason. Finally, Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry could be on the move as well, and if he ends up heading 'home' to the Philadelphia 76ers, he could be the piece that swings the balance of power entirely in the Eastern Conference. LeBron's Ankle Injury, Cade Cunningham's Draft Stock & March Madness Takeaways
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with some thoughts on LeBron James' high ankle sprain that should sideline him for several weeks. It could be a catastrophic injury for the Los Angeles Lakers in the short-term. It wouldn't be shocking at all to see the Lakers go winless during this stretch and tumble down the standings in the Western Conference, and if LeBron is out more than 2-3 weeks, that could be enough to eliminate him from the MVP race altogether. The only silver lining here is that if both LeBron and Anthony Davis return within the month, they should be well-rested for the playoffs. With King James presumably out of the mix for the MVP, the door is wide open now for James Harden to step in and steal the award. While Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard and Nikola Jokic all have decent cases of their own, Harden should be considered the favorite now that LeBron and Joel Embiid are shelved. The Beard has carried the Nets to the top of the Eastern Conference since his arrival, and the MVP should be his to lose at this point. By the way, has anyone checked in on the big wigs at the NCAA this morning? The opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament was littered with upsets, setting up a series of ugly Sweet 16 matchups next week. With the bluebloods like Duke and Kentucky missing the Tournament, the NCAA needed brand names like Ohio State and Texas to make a deep run; Instead, they got stuck with Loyola Chicago and Oral Roberts. It also didn't help that presumptive #1 overall NBA Draft pick Cade Cunningham flamed out in the Round of 32. Cunningham was dreadful in his 2 tournament games, but was he bad enough to fall down NBA draft boards? Only time will tell. All-In on Gonzaga, March Madness Players to Watch & NCAA Tournament Best Bets
On today's episode, Jason gets the audience all lathered up for day 1 of the NCAA Tournament. First, he discusses a high-stakes March Madness Calcutta Pool he was earlier this week. For the uninitiated folks out there, a Calcutta offers a new way for people to bet on specific team to win the tournament. Participants bid on teams and earn prize money the deeper their team advances. Seems like harmless fun, right? Until you realize that the prohibitive tournament favorites - the Gonzaga Bulldogs - went for $59,000. DAMN. Long story short, Jason will be pulling hard for 3 long-shot teams this year in the tournament. Later, Jason does a deep dive into a handful of players who he believes could be big difference makers in the tournament, including: Gonzaga's Jalen Suggs, Purdue's Trevion Williams, USC's Evan Mobley, Oregon's Chris Duarte and Florida State's Scottie Barnes. Finally, Jason closes the show with his Best Bets for the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament. FOX Sports college basketball analyst Casey Jacobsen on the Golden Age of College Hoops, Tournament Cinderellas & more!
On today's show, Jason is joined by FOX Sports college basketball analyst Casey Jacobsen for wall-to-wall college hoops conversation. Casey explains to Jason why he believes the 90s were the Golden Era of college basketball, how he ultimately decided to play his college ball at Stanford, what it was like growing up in a basketball household, why the lack of travel and lack of fans at the upcoming NCAA Tournament should help the favorites and hurt the underdogs, why the Alabama Crimson Tide is his second favorite team overall in the tournament behind Gonzaga, why he has the Oregon Ducks and the Texas Tech Red Raiders as the two means most likely to wreak some havoc in their respective regions, why he views this current Gonzaga team as arguably the best college team he's seen since 2015, and much more! Chicago Bears Blew it Again, Las Vegas Raiders Crap Out Again + ESPN Sports Betting Analyst Joe Fortenbaugh
On today's episode, Jason explains how the Chicago Bears whiffed on their Russell Wilson 'pipe dream'. They convinced themselves - and their fan base - that they had a legit chance at getting Wilson. Instead, they ended up with the wildly mediocre Andy Dalton. Talk about a letdown. The Bears are destined to go 5-11 next season, and their head coach and general manager seem like locks for the unemployment line. Interestingly enough, the Seattle Seahawks could be headed down a similar path. That's not to say that they'll be as bad as the Bears, but to expect them to just bounce back from this Wilson soap opera is unrealistic. Expect the Seahawks to take a massive step back in 2021. In the AFC, the Las Vegas Raiders - who will be forever linked to the Bears thanks to that Khalil Mack trade from 2019 - decided it would be a good idea to dump 4/5 of their starting offensive line. You read that right; the Raiders just dismantled the best position group on their entire roster. If Jon Gruden had any sense at all, he'd fire himself as the de facto general manger. The Bears may be on the fast track to the bottom but at least GM Ryan Pace can ride off into sunset knowing that he beat Gruden in the Khalil Mack trade. Later, ESPN sports betting analyst Joe Fortenbaugh swings by to give you the information you need to know heading into this weekend's NCAA Tournament Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

NFL Free Agency is officially upon us, and who better to break it all down with than our Friend of the Show - NFL Network analyst and FOX Sports Radio host Bucky Brooks! Bucky helps make sense of the New England Patriots spending spree on the first day of NFL free agency, and discusses with Jason why some teams have pause about paying big money to wide receivers like JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency, why he thinks Deshaun Watson will be with the Houston Texans next season, why he doesn't blame the Texans for playing hardball with the Watson right now, why he believes the New Orleans Saints will still be a playoff team next season even without Drew Brees, why the Los Angeles Rams have continued to lose key players over the years, why it feels like the New York Jets' free agency signing this year are looking to make up for roster mistakes of the past, why he doesn't have a problem with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' decision to 'run it back' next season, why he fully expects Lamar Jackson to get a bigger deal from the Baltimore Ravens than Dak Prescott got from the Dallas Cowboys (and for Baker Mayfield to get considerably less from the Cleveland Browns), and much more! NCAA Tournament Bracket Breakdown, Best Bets and Upset Picks
March Madness is officially upon us! Rather than waste your time talking about Drew Brees' retirement announcement or the tension that seems to boiling over inside the Los Angeles Clippers' locker room, Jason brings in Jason Lisk from TeamRankings.com for wall-to-wall conversation on the NCAA Tournament. Lisk explains why Georgetown appears to be the best bet for the annual 12-5 upset this year, why he feels Villanova is seeded relatively high (5) strictly based on reputation, why he wouldn't be too shocked to see the 11-seed Utah State team upset the 5-seed Texas Tech, why he views the 1-seed Michigan Wolverines as a big risk given their current injury issues, why the East region is easily the most balanced region in the bracket and why LSU and UCONN are sneaky Cinderella teams if you're playing in a large bracket challenge pool, why he likes Michigan State to beat UCLA in the play-in game - even though neither team is all that good, why he's not nearly as high on the Texas Longhorns as McIntyre is, why the top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs are the 1-seed most likely to reach the Final Four, why he's so intrigued by the 8-9 matchup between Wisconsin and North Carolina, why he's not betting on Cade Cunningham being able to carry 4-seed Oklahoma State deep into the tournament given how tough their region is, why he has the 1-seed Illinois as the second favorite overall behind Gonzaga, and much more! Judgment Day for Lamar Jackson + FS1 and Turner Sports basketball analyst Jim Jackson
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a deep dive into the ongoing contract negotiations between Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. If the Dak Prescott saga in Dallas taught us anything, it’s that committing big money to a franchise quarterback is a judgment call. Two years ago, the Cowboys decided that Dak wasn't worth a massive extension; Two years later, they paid for that error in judgment to the tune of $160 million. The Ravens are in a similar boat. Has Lamar Jackson shown enough as a thrower to prove that he's worth $40 million a year? Is Baltimore convinced that his slender frame can handle running the ball as often as he does? Once again, judgment day is coming. Plus, FS1 and Turner Sports basketball analyst Jim Jackson swings by to discuss why sports fans aren't as plugged in to college basketball as they used to be, how the one-and-done system has hurt the college game in some ways, his heartbreaking loss to the Michigan Fab Five, why he wouldn't be surprised to see Gonzaga knocked out of the NCAA Tournament early - even if he is picking them to win it all, the difficulties of calling games during a pandemic, why he hates comparing different eras of NBA basketball, why he agrees that the Boston Celtics are the team best equipped to beat the Brooklyn Nets in the Eastern Conference, what's really ailing the Los Angeles Clippers, the biggest reason why Kobe Bryant had a healthy disdain for Smush Parker back in the day, and much more! Dak Prescott Secured the Bag, a Ticking Time Bomb in Dallas & the QB Contract Conundrum
On today's episode, Jason brings you wall-to-wall reaction to the Dak Prescott mega-deal with the Dallas Cowboys. First off, congratulations to Dak for thoroughly destroying Jerry Jones at the negotiating table; Dak got the largest signing bonus in NFL history, the 4-year deal as opposed to 5, a no-trade clause and a no-tag clause. If there's a worse negotiator in the NFL than Jerry Jones please point him out to us. Because Jerry conceded so much to Dak, he essentially limited the Dallas Cowboys' Super Bowl window to one year. After the 2021 season Dallas is going to be in such salary cap hell they'll be lucky to field even a mediocre team for the life of Dak's contract. All of this leads to one obvious question: What exactly is the best way to build an NFL team? If you pay the quarterback too early a la Jared Goff and Carson Wentz then you risk having to eat the dead cap money just to get that guy off your roster. If you wait to pay the quarterback a la Dak Prescott then you run the risk of having to pay a mediocre quarterback elite quarterback money? Perhaps the best plan of attack is to have your signal caller take a contract below market value like Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes did... even if that screws up the negotiating power for the quarterbacks to follow. It could be that there is no 'correct' way to pay a franchise quarterback. Either way, all signs point to this Dak deal blowing up in the Cowboys' face soon enough. But hey, at least it will help guys like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield secure the bag, too. Steph Curry Won All-Star Weekend, LeBron is the 10th Best Scorer in the NBA & How Blake Griffin Can Be Brooklyn's Draymond
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a full recap of NBA All-Star Weekend. The Slam Dunk Contest, much like the Coming 2 America movie that dropped over the weekend, was disappointing, and the All-Star Game itself was just okay. Aside from Kyrie Irving, who appeared like he wanted to send a message to his former teammate LeBron James and the rest of the League, the play was mostly lackadaisical. All that said, there was one person who absolutely stole the show: Steph Curry. Not only did Steph win what Jason is calling the greatest 3-Point Contest ever, but he followed that up by dropping half-court bomb after half-court bomb in the All-Star Game. He is absolutely magical. Even in an exhibition setting, Steph proved why he's arguably one of the 15 greatest players in NBA history. Later, Producer Rob G and Jason do a deep dive on poll in The Athletic listing the purest scorers in the NBA today. Both guys agree that the pollsters got it right putting Kevin Durant at number 1, but the real debate centers on the man who finished 10th: LeBron. Are guys like Steph and Kyrie really purer scorers than The King? More specifically, does the fact LeBron's style isn't as aesthetically pleasing count against him in a poll like this? Guess the fact that LeBron is likely to end his career as the NBA's all-time leading scorer isn't as impressive as we thought. Finally, the guys share their thoughts on Blake Griffin's decision to join the Brooklyn Nets. Griffin has looked like a shell of himself so far this season, but he could have a Draymond Green-like role in the Nets offense - assuming he's willing to buy in. Ben Roethlisberger is Coming Back & LeBron, Steph and Luka Load Managing for the All-Star Game
On today's episode, Jason does a deep dive into the Pittsburgh Steelers' decision to bring Ben Roethlisberger back for the 2021 season. On one hand, the pay cut Big Ben took to stay in Pittsburgh should help the Steelers bring back a few key free agents and re-build the offensive line. On the other, even with Roethlisberger coming back, are you really that confident that the Steelers will be Super Bowl contenders in 2021? Producer Rob G says the move feels like Pittsburgh is only hurting their fan base by refusing to pull off the band-aid, and he and Jason discuss the likelihood that the Steelers would be willing to trade up in the upcoming NFL Draft to land their quarterback of the future. Later, the guys get into a mini-debate over the decisions of LeBron James, Steph Curry and Luka Doncic to sit out their teams' last games before the break while still planning on playing in the All-Star Game. Both Jason and Rob G agree that load management is totally acceptable, especially given that everyone is playing a compacted NBA season, but it's the overall optics that have the guys at odds. Does it really matter which game a star player decides to skip? Is sitting out the last game before the break really worse than sitting out the fifth game? Finally, the guys close the show by picking the 3 current players they'd most like to see compete in the NBA's Slam Dunk Contest. Is LaMelo Ball the next Magic Johnson? + TV and podcast host Charissa Thompson
On today's episode, Jason kicks things with a deep dive into the early returns on Charlotte Hornets rookie phenom LaMelo Ball. Two weeks ago when we had NBA legend Muggsy Bogues on the show he compared Ball to Jason Kidd and Penny Hardaway; Now, there's folks in the basketball world comparing him to Magic Johnson. Either way, the Hornets point guard appears destined for superstardom as he's already turned Charlotte into must-see TV. Don't be surprised to see him take the League by storm next year the same way guys like Luka Doncic and Zion Williamson have in recent memory. Later, FOX Sports TV personality and co-host of the 'Calm Down with Erin & Charissa' podcast Charissa Thompson swings by to discuss why she feels like she hit the lottery when she first got hired at ESPN, the trials and tribulations of working on live television, how she was able to shatter the glass ceiling and become one of the prominent female personalities in sports television, why she's disappointed in the Russell Wilson melodrama surrounding her hometown Seattle Seahawks, why she's optimistic that the rest of the Seahawks players will welcome Wilson back into the fold even after he criticized the offensive line in public, how difficult it is to give her honest opinions about athletes who she happens to be friendly with off the air, why she believes it's going to be difficult for the Dallas Cowboys to justify not paying Dak Prescott market value, how her new podcast with Erin Andrews came about, and much more! James Harden Jersey Retirement, the Real NBA MVP & Steph Curry's Place in History
On today's episode, Jason shares his thoughts on the Houston Rockets' decision to retire James Harden's jersey so quickly after he forced his way out of town and left the franchise in ruins in the process. Say what you want about Harden's exit but the ends justified the means as Harden is now on the best team in the Eastern Conference. Moreover, anybody who says that Harden's messy divorce from the Rockets should eliminate him from MVP consideration is asinine. Harden's 8-game stretch in Houston should matter just as much as LeBron James' ugly 4 game stretch without Anthony Davis last week - not at all. Let's just hope the notoriously fickle NBA media who votes on these awards feels the same way Later, Producer Rob G joins the show to explain why he has a big problem with Houston's decision to hang the Harden jersey in the rafters, and uses a term to describe the act that only a fan of Shakespeare can appreciate. Could you argue that the jersey retirement announcement actually says more about the Rockets organization than it does about Harden? Finally, the guys close the show with a fiery debate about Steph Curry's true standing amongst the greatest point guards in NBA history. Has this season proven that he should be mentioned alongside guys like Damian Lillard and Russell Westbrook rather than Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas? You'll definitely want to stick around for this one! Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

JJ Watt Took the Money, a Russell Wilson-Dak Prescott Trade Rumor + NBC Dallas host Newy Scruggs
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a quick thought on JJ Watt's decision to sign with the Arizona Cardinals. The move sent shockwaves through the football world given that nobody in the NFL media seemed to even have the Cardinals as a finalist. Producer Rob G says Watt is a fraud for saying he wanted to go to a contender only to sign with a cellar-dweller for the biggest payday, while Jason argues that Watt is likely to have faced criticism no matter where he goes. Either way, now that the news is official, the only question remaining is this: Will Deshaun Watson look to join his former Texans teammates Watt and DeAndre Hopkins in Arizona? Later, NBC Dallas/Ft Worth host Newy Scruggs swings by to explain why there's absolutely no chance for a Russell Wilson-for-Dak Prescott trade, why the biggest reason why Dak hasn't secured his long-term deal in Dallas is because of his agent likes playing hardball (even though he's mostly struck out recently), why the Cowboys actually view Dak as a younger version of Wilson, why he has a hard time believing Wilson's interest in Dallas is mutual, why he's willing to bet a steak dinner on the possibility that Dak will end up getting close to $40 million per year in his next contract, and much more! Clippers Aren't Clutch, Kawhi's Next Move & the Nets Biggest Threat in the East
On today's episode, Producer Rob G joins Jason for a little wall-to-wall NBA conversation. First, it's clear that the Los Angeles Clippers still lack the clutch gene necessary to become a legitimate title contenders. They folded like a cheap tent down the stretch on Sunday against the Milwaukee Bucks, just like they did against the Denver Nuggets in The Bubble last season. They're frauds. Period. All of these leads to one obvious question: What does this mean for the future of Kawhi Leonard? Kawhi has built up this reputation that he's a LeBron James-level team builder thanks to that 'fortunate' NBA title he won in Toronto, but so far that couldn't be further from the truth. Perhaps his future lies outside of the Clippers, somewhere where he won't be asked to build the team, somewhere that already has a strong foundation in place, somewhere like... The Phoenix Suns. Speaking of the Suns, Jason and Rob G are at odds over just how good Devin Booker really is. Last week LeBron called Booker 'the most disrespected player' in the NBA, but do the numbers back that up? How much credit does he really deserve for the Phoenix turnaround this season? It's a debate that should get your blood boiling. Later, the guys do a deep dive into which teams are the biggest threats to the Brooklyn Nets in the Eastern Conference. Jason says a healthy Boston Celtics squad with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown is the only team with the requisite wing defenders to slow down the Nets, while Rob G says his money is on Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers. Only time will tell which man is right. Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

02/27/2021 – The Jason McIntyre Show
Jason McIntyre defends Russell Wilson for venting his frustration with the Seahawks organization and argues for the Dallas Cowboys to make an offer for the 32 year-old QB. He blasts Brandon Ingram for lying to the media when speaking about his teammate, Zion Williamson. He speaks with Celtics analyst Brian Scalabrine for insight on what the Celtics need to do in order to turn their season around and challenge the Nets in the East. Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News pushes back against Jason’s theory that the Cowboys would abandon Dak Prescott and bring Russell Wilson to Dallas. Russell Wilson to the Dallas Cowboys? + Actor/Comedian Gary Owen
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing his thoughts on the report in The Athletic detailing the growing rift between Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks. On one hand, the Seahawks have been a winning franchise the entirety of Wilson's career so it's odd that he would want out; On the other, Seattle has done a mediocre job at best building the roster around Wilson ever since he signed his contract extension. This all could come to a head sooner than later, and guess which team is waiting in the wings: The Dallas Cowboys. Wilson would be a clear upgrade over Dak Prescott and he'd save Dallas some money against the salary cap as well. Make it happen, Jerry Jones. Later, actor/comedian Gary Owen swings by to discuss what it was like playing pickup basketball on the set of 'Think Like a Man' and getting dunked on by Darren Collison, the pros and cons of doing a comedy tour during a pandemic, what it was like being trapped in a hotel with no water or power for 3 days last week during that epic snowstorm in Texas, why he's optimistic about Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals heading into the 2021 season, how Burrow's upbringing has better prepared him for life in the NFL, why he'd like to see the Baltimore Ravens trade for Odell Beckham Jr to pair him with Lamar Jackson, how the comedy club atmosphere is so much different than the 'cancel culture' on comedy that permeates through social media, why former Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs had an issue with him back in the day, and much more! The NBA is Punishing LeBron + ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller
On today's episode, Jason shares a quick thought on the reveal of the Los Angeles Lakers' schedule entering the second half of the season. It is absolutely brutal. If there was ever any concern about LeBron James running himself into the ground before the playoffs start it's only going to be amplified in the second half. The Lakers have 8 back-to-back games; it almost feels like the NBA is punishing The King for being so vocal about his displeasure for the All-Star Game. If Frank Vogel is smart, he'll make sure to load manage LeBron liberally until the postseason. Later, TheDraftScout.com founder and ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller swings by to explain why he feels like Alabama quarterback Mac Jones is a 2nd round prospect who could get pushed up into the 1st round because so many NFL teams are desperate for quarterbacks, why he's not buying the notion that Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is suddenly falling down draft boards, why he views Penn State edge rusher Jayson Oweh as a player who has the potential to be great in the NFL even his production wasn't that great last season, why he doesn't believe that either Alabama wide receivers - Jaylen Waddle and Devonta Smith - are locks to go in the top 10 of the Draft, the method behind the madness behind every mock draft he puts out, why he believes that Ohio State cornerback Shaun Wade's stock fell so far since the beginning of the season, and much more! Tiger Woods Accident, NBA All-Star Reserves + MMQB Senior NFL reporter Albert Breer
On today's episode, Jason does a deep dive into the motor vehicle incident that may have prematurely ended Tiger Woods professional golf career. Tiger became the face of the sport during a time when most younger folks couldn't care less about golf. Tiger changed that; He made golf cool for the people under 30. We're all wishing him a speedy recovery. Later, Jason shares a quick thought on the NBA All-Star reserves and tells us why it's absurd to think that Devin Booker deserved to get in over Zion Williamson. Zion is the biggest up-and-coming star in the League, and Booker isn't even the most important player on his own team. Finally, MMQB Senior NFL reporter Albert Breer swings by to discuss what he's hearing about Mac Jones, Zach Wilson and Trevor Lawrence leading up to the NFL Draft, the challenges NFL franchises are dealing with as they try to scout prospects during a pandemic, why Ja'Marr Chase appears to be well ahead of Heisman Trophy winner Devonta Smith as the top rated wide receiver available, why the lukewarm trade market for Carson Wentz says a lot about what NFL front offices think about him, why the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins should be able to put together the best trade offer for Deshaun Watson, why he doesn't expect Jimmy Garoppolo or Derek Carr to be traded this offseason, how Aaron Rodgers may have inspired Russell Wilson to speak out against the Seattle Seahawks front office, and much more! The Evolution of James Harden, Russell Wilson Rumors + NBA Legend Muggsy Bogues
On today’s episode, Jason kicks things off by doing into a deep dive into the evolution of James Harden. In basketball, just as in life, there’s no such thing as success or failure; each moment is just a stepping-stone to something else. In Houston, we were quick to call Harden a failure because he was unable to get over the hump and get to the NBA Finals. But maybe, all of the lessons he learned about winning and losing are what led to him evolving into arguably the most indispensable player on the Brooklyn Nets. In fact, you could argue that no player outside of LeBron James effects winning more than Harden. Later, NBA legend Tyrone 'Muggsy' Bogues swings by to discuss how the game has evolved since he played back in the 90s, why he sees current Charlotte Hornets phenom LaMelo Ball as a cross between Jason Kidd and Penny Hardaway, why he's a big fan of the overall point guard play in today's NBA, the obstacles he had to overcome as a 5'3" point guard. both in college and in the NBA, how basketball helped him navigate the inner-cities of Baltimore as a youth, what it was like playing for the #1 high school team in the nation in the early-80s, how the additions of Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson helped turn his Charlotte Hornets squad into one of the most exciting teams of the decade - even if their run ended prematurely, what he's expecting from the Brooklyn Nets trio of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden, the notion that players from 20 years ago couldn't play in today's NBA, and much more! Making Sense of the Steph Curry Slander & A Teachable Moment from Cam Newton
On today’s episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing his thoughts on a recent study that lists Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry is the most polarizing player in the NBA. Steph has a persona and a style of play that resonates with the younger generation, so on the on surface, it would seem odd to suggest that he’d be anything other than the well-liked. But if you dig a little deeper, you’ll notice that some sports fans started to turn on him back in 2015 after he 'jumped the line' and became the Face of the League almost overnight. Next thing you knew even his peers like LeBron James, Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook developed a healthy disdain for the skinny kid with the sweet jump shot. What's more, Producer Rob G argues that the biggest reason for the 'Steph Curry Slander' is that members of the media elevated Curry to an all-time status without ever fully acknowledging the context surrounding his meteoric rise to superstardom (a point that Jason vehemently disagrees with). Later, Jason uses a viral video featuring a teenage boy berating Cam Newton at a football camp as a teaching moment for the youth of America. Say what you want about Cam's abilities as a pocket passer, but to call him anything other than an NFL success story is blasphemous. He's made his share of his mistakes both in college and the pros, for sure, but he's also won a Heisman Trophy and an NFL MVP. Kudos to Cam for keeping his head and teaching that kid a lesson. Wentz Won't Win in Indy Either, Nets Drill the Lakers & How the Heat Broke Giannis
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing his thoughts on the blockbuster trade in the NFL that saw Carson Wentz dealt from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Indianapolis Colts. On the surface, it would appear to be a clear win for Indy, but dig a little deeper and the move seems like a wash for both sides. The Colts are more likely to miss the playoffs altogether in 2021 than they are to suddenly become a Super Bowl contender. What's more, the oddsmakers in Vegas aren't convinced that the Colts are demonstrably better with Wentz under center than they were with the old man Philip Rivers last season. From Philadelphia's perspective, they're back to square one without a definitive franchise quarterback on their roster. The only saving grace is that at least now they'll have the draft capital to try and rebuild the offensive line and wide receiving core that played such a big role in Wentz' undoing. Later, Producer Rob joins the show to discuss the Brooklyn Nets' beatdown of the Los Angeles Lakers. James Harden was phenomenal, but it was the 'other guys' bombing away from deep that forced LeBron James to watch most of the fourth quarter from the bench in a blowout. Either way, with no Kevin Durant and no Anthony Davis, it's hard to take much away from this game. However, the Lakers weren't the only team to get embarrassed on national television tonight. Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have now lost 5 in a row, and it seems like a matter of time before changes are made in Milwaukee.
