Time to Trade Aaron Rodgers, the Jaguars are Coming & the Best and Worst of the NFL Draft

On today's episode, Jason and Producer Rob G kick things off with a deep dive into the report that sent shockwaves through the sports media world: Aaron Rodgers wants out of Green Bay. The Packers had to have seen this coming the moment they drafted Jordan Love in the first round last year. If the plan was always to move on from Rodgers in 2022 - which seems to be the case given that the team refused to sign him to a contract extension coming off an MVP season - then why not trade him on draft night for a King's Ransom? Unless John Elway can work some magic and get Rodgers to Denver in the next few days, this could get really ugly really quickly. As far as the NFL Draft goes, the big winners had to be the Jacksonville Jaguars. Not only did they land the best quarterback prospect in years in Trevor Lawrence, but they also added his backfield mate Travis Etienne. The Jags are a sneaky bet to win the AFC South next year. The biggest shocker of the night may have been what happened at #3 as the San Francisco 49ers decided to take Trey Lance over Mac Jones. For weeks now several reputable NFL reporters told us it would be Jones, so it was rather perplexing to hear Lance's name called instead. Perhaps something happened behind closed doors between Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch that caused a sudden change of heart. Speaking of Jones, how is he going to fit in New England? Jones and incumbent starter Cam Newton couldn't be any more different stylistically. Sticking with quarterbacks, the Chicago Bears made headlines when they traded up to take Justin Fields. Fields is a fine prospect, for sure, but the move did feel a little desperate. Finally, Jason closes the show with a quick rundown of all the picks he liked - and didn't like - during Round 1 of the NFL Draft.
