Justin Herbert is a Stud, The Raiders are Done & CBS Sports analyst Danny Kanell

On today's episode, Jason and Producer Rob share their thoughts on the Los Angeles Chargers' ugly win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football. It didn't look like either team wanted to win that game. On the plus side, we can all rest a little bit easier knowing that stud quarterback Justin Herbert won't be shackled by the wildly mediocre Anthony Lynn. Plus, CBS Sports analyst Danny Kanell swings by to explain how he ended up being a star quarterback at Florida State even though he didn’t start playing football until his junior year of high school, how playing baseball and basketball as a youth helped make him a better football player, why he believes Trevor Lawrence should be excited about the possibility of getting drafted by the New York Jets, why he’s so excited for this weekend is SEC championship game between Alabama and Florida, why he believes this would’ve been the perfect year to have an expanded College Football Playoff field, why he doesn't expect Cam Newton to be the New England Patriots starting quarterback next season, why he believes Jim Harbaugh will be back at Michigan next season, and much more! Later, Jason closes the show with a very special College Football and NFL Weekend edition of the Best Bet. He's been riding a hot streak as of late so you better get on the money train! Giannis Staying in Milwaukee is Bad for the NBA & Actor Jerry O'Connell

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing his thoughts on Giannis Antetokounmpo's decision to forego free agency and sign a supermax contract to stay with the Milwaukee Bucks. On the surface it sounds like a heartwarming story, but the reality is that player movement and the formation of Super Teams is what makes the NBA such a hot topic year round. By staying in Milwaukee, Giannis has removed a piece off the board and actually hurt the League in the process. Plus, actor Jerry O'Connell swings by to discuss what it was like working alongside bombshells like Mariah Carey and Jennifer Love Hewitt, how he still gets recognized for some of the more iconic roles he had in the past, how he caught the fantasy football bug when he worked on the movie 'Jerry Maguire' (even if he's thinking about quitting after this season), why a bad beat involving the New York Yankees back in the day is why he longer gambles on sports these days, why he as a long-suffering New York Jets fan has a soft spot for the Los Angeles Chargers now that he's moved to Los Angeles, what it's like to talk sports with the Hall of Famers in his neighborhood like Willie McGinest and Eric Dickerson, and much more! Lamar Jackson's 'Cramp' Game, The NFL Game of the Year & a Lesson on Failure

On today's episode, Jason shares his thoughts on the Baltimore Ravens' wild victory over the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football. This game had EVERYTHING. Lamar Jackson had to leave the game with 'cramps', or 'diarrhea' if you believe the folks on Twitter, but was forced back into action when his backup injured his leg with less than two minutes left in the game. Naturally, Jackson threw the go-ahead touchdown pass on his first play back. Not to be outdone, Baker Mayfield led his team right back and scored the game-tying touchdown with less than a minute to go. Jackson then came back and marched the Ravens down the field AGAIN where Justin Tucker hit a 55-yard field goal with only seconds left on the clock. As if that ending wasn't wild enough, the Browns botched the lateral on the game's final play and fumbled out of the end zone for a safety. So not only did the Ravens get the win in dramatic fashion, but they covered the 3-point spread. Like we said, this game had EVERYTHING. It was easily the Game of the Year thus far in the NFL. Later, Jason closes the pod with a quick rant on the social media trolls who came after LiAngelo Ball after the middle Ball Brother was cut by the Detroit Pistons before ever stepping foot on the court. While the hater took glee in seeing Ball's dreams crushed, Jason argues that he should commend for having the bravery to chase his dreams. Saints Caught Slippin', Rodgers is Rolling Towards and MVP & Playing the Blame Game with Big Ben

On today's episode, Jason opens things up with a very simple question: Are the New Orleans Saints the team we thought they were? The Saints had been the hottest team in the League until rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts lit them up in his first career start. Chalk it up to a lack of familiarity with the opponent - or just a rare bad game from their defense - but either way the loss knocked them out of the top seed in the NFC. Which brings us to the Green Bay Packers. With their win on Sunday, the road to the Super Bowl in the NFC suddenly go through Lambeau Field. It's fitting that in a year where three other teams had been pegged as the team to beat in the conference (Saints, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and two other quarterbacks were tabbed as MVP front-runners (Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson) that Aaron Rodgers and the Packers now have the inside track in both races. Producer Rob joins the show to share his thoughts on the Las Vegas Raiders' decision to finally cut ties with their defensive coordinator, and Jason tells us why he has a big problem with Ben Roethlisberger blaming the Pittsburgh Steelers struggling offense on the lack of a running game. Big Ben was the reason the Steelers lost on Sunday Night to the Buffalo Bills and his physical limitations is one reason why they can't be more creative offensively. Later, Jason and Rob tell us why Florida Gators head coach Dan Mullen has a point when he says that his team would likely still be in the mix for the College Football Playoff if they hadn't played so many games this season. Mullen is probably the last guy you want making this kind of statement but he's got it right on this one. Finally, Jason closes things out with the Monday Night Football edition of the Best Bet. Why the Rams are Like the Chiefs & Former NFL Executive of the Year Randy Mueller

Jason opens things up with a quick reaction to the Los Angeles Rams suffocating victory over the New England Patriots. The Patriots appear set to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2008, but more importantly, the Rams look like arguably the most complete team in the NFC. In fact, you can see shades of the Kansas City Chiefs with how varied and explosive their offense is. Later, former NFL Executive of the Year and The Athletic podcast host Randy Mueller swings by to explain why he's not surprised by the Miami Dolphins' quick turnaround from last year to this year, why the authenticity of Brian Flores and Joe Judge is the biggest reason why they've been able to buck the trend of failed Bill Belichick disciples, why it's so important for the front office and the head coach to be aligned on the type of team they're trying to build - which is the biggest reason why the Cleveland Browns are thriving and the Dallas Cowboys are floundering, how Nick Saban was able to bring the best out of him as an executive when the two were together with the Dolphins, why's pessimistic that Jim Harbaugh will be back in the NFL next season but optimistic about the return of Marvin Lewis, why he's been a little surprised to see Andy Reid disciples Matt Nagy and Doug Pederson struggle so much the past seasons, why John Elway's decision not to draft Josh Allen was so shocking to him, and much more! NBA Season Preview with FS1 NBA analyst Chris Broussard

FS1 NBA analyst analyst and FOX Sports Radio host Chris Broussard joins the show for a lengthy conversation leading up to the start of the NBA season, and Broussard explains why he expects James Harden to at least start the season in a Houston Rockets uniform, what a Harden-Kevin Durant-Kyrie Irving trio might look like in Brooklyn, why the chemistry issues that plagued the Los Angeles Clippers last season should serve as a cautionary tale for the Nets, how Trae Young and Russell Westbrook could help their teams shake up the Eastern Conference playoff picture, why he believes the Philadelphia 76ers have a great shot of reaching the NBA Finals, why the Clippers lack of leadership could be their undoing again in 2021 (even if he does expect them to be much improved in that area), why it's unfair of Jason to say that Kawhi Leonard doesn't belong in the same sentence as LeBron James at this point in their careers, why he still believes LeBron can catch Michael Jordan in the GOAT discussion, and much more! Ravens Run Over the Cowboys, Landing Spots for Harden & FS1 NFL analyst TJ Houshmandzadeh

Jason opens things up by sharing a quick thought on the Baltimore Ravens victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday Night Football. It’s hard to really take much away from the game given that the Cowboys are so bad that the Ravens hardly ever had to step out of their comfort zone to win. In fact, the most interesting thing to come out of the game actually took place off the field as Dez Bryant had to be pulled during warmups after testing positive for COVID-19. Given the way the season has played out thus far, how the hell could the NFL’s protocols allow something like this to happen? It makes no sense. Later. Producer Rob joins the show to help make sense of the latest report that James Harden has expanded his list of preferred trade destinations. Are the Philadelphia 76ers the new front-runners? Should the Golden State Warriors throw their hat into the mix? And is the Brooklyn Nets offer really that bad? Plus, former NFL Pro Bowler, FS1 NFL analyst and FOX Sports Radio host TJ Houshmandzadeh discusses how he was able escape a childhood filled with drug abuse and violence to eventually become an NFL wide receiver, why a series of poor decisions in high school is the reason why he had to make a pitstop in junior college before moving up to Division 1, how a group of JUCO kids helped create the greatest team in Oregon State football history, why he thinks the Indianapolis Colts are the ideal landing spot for Carson Wentz if the Philadelphia Eagles decide to move on, why he takes such great price in seeing Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool blow up in the NFL, how he's managed to make the transition from the football field to the sports media world, and much more! The Browns are Back, Wentz Hits the Bench & Concerned about Kyler?

On today's episode, Jason shares his thoughts on when he believes to be the biggest headlines to come out of Sunday's NFL action. First, it's time to admit that Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns are for real. Did you see the way they demolished the Tennessee Titans? More importantly, did you see the way they demolished the Titans without Odell Beckham Jr? In the crazy year that is 2002, it's fitting that we'd see the Browns back in the playoffs. Second, the Philadelphia Eagles finally pulled the plug on Carson Wentz. It’s too early to say if Jalen Hurts has officially become the Eagles quarterback of the future, but it’s not too early to say that it’s definitely not Wentz. Third, what the heck happened to Kyler Murray? Less than a month ago he was the Toast of the Town and considered to be an MVP candidate, and now he’s a loser of 3 straight who can’t beat the blitz if his life depended on it. The NFL has clearly adjusted to Kyler, and he better find a way to adjust back or the Arizona Cardinals could miss the playoff yet again. Finally, let’s pour one out for all the downtrodden New York Jets fans out there. No, they did not try to lose to the Las Vegas Raiders on purpose like some talking heads would like us to believe; it was just a terrible play call at the worst possible time. James Harden Has to Go & NFL Week 13 wagering with DraftKings' Johnny Avello

On today's episode, Jason opens things up with a quick thought on the latest in the James Harden Saga in Houston. Suddenly, the plan is to give him 'space' to help him cool down following a tumultuous offseason? Seriously? Just get it over with! The longer the Rockets wait to trade Harden, the worse the offers will get. Plus, DraftKings director of sportsbook operations Johnny Avello swings by to explain why he decided to leave his post as the Wynn in Las Vegas and take his talents to DraftKings, discuss what the future of gambling looks like now that it's become more mainstream and is slowly becoming legalized across the country, the process behind setting the gambling lines, and discuss all of the NFL Week 13 games from a wagering perspective. The Sluggish Steelers, Westbrook to the Wizards & an interview with former Pro Bowl RB Clinton Portis

On today's episode, Jason explains why the knee injury to Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree is a much bigger deal than you might think on the surface, why he's shocked at how much Baltimore Ravens quarterback Robert Griffin III has regressed as a passer since his rookie season in Washington, and why he's a tad concerned about the Steelers' sputtering offense. Jason also shares his thoughts on the Russell Westbrook-for-John Wall blockbuster trade in the NBA and tells us why he can't envision the deal working out well for either the Houston Rockets or the Washington Wizards. Later, former Pro Bowl running back and FOX Sports' Talk the Line co-host Clinton Portis swings by to explain why he feels the 2005 Washington Redskins were the closest team he's ever been a part of and why he was so disappointed to see them broken up the following season, how the unfortunate passing of his teammate Shawn Taylor helped cement his bond with Washington owner Daniel Snyder and why he thinks Snyder takes a lot of unwarranted criticism from fans and the media, why the daily competition on the legendary 2001 Miami Hurricanes is what made the team so special, why he emphatically disagrees with the notion that running backs aren't as valuable in today's NFL, why he begrudgingly calls former former Florida State and current Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook the best in the NFL right now, and much more! A Conversation with Comedian Nimesh Patel

On today's episode, Jason opens things up in reverse by dropping a quick Best Bet for this afternoon's Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers showdown. Let's just hope he can get back to his winning ways. Later, Jason welcomes comedian and television writer Nimesh Patel to show for a long-from conversation on a myriad of topics, including: his only regret about doing an interview with Joe Rogan following his infamous Columbia University 'incident', how the Kobe Bryant Mamba Mentality helped him to improve as a comic during the pandemic, why he's made the conscious decision not to talk about his family much during his stand-up routine, how he went from a pre-med undergrad to an 'undrafted' comedian after college, how a 'flu game'-type performance on stage is what ultimately led to him writing for Chris Rock, why it took the Detroit Pistons upsetting the Los Angeles Lakers in 2004 to rekindle his love for basketball, why he has such a deep appreciation for everything Kobe stood for, why he thinks LeBron James is a more complete player but he'd pick Kobe to beat him one-on-one, what it was like meeting Charles Barkley backstage on the set of Saturday Night Live, and much more! The Legion of Boom is Back, Wentz Isn't the Only Problem in Philly & COVID is Killing the NFL

On today's episode, Jason opens things up by sharing his thoughts on the Seattle Seahawks impressive road win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. In a shocking turn of events, the Seahawks didn't need Russell Wilson to bail them out this time. Seattle's defense has gone from a laughingstock to a juggernaut over the last 3 weeks. If they can keep this up, don't be surprised to see the Seahawks soar into the Super Bowl at the end of the season. On the flip side, Carson Wentz and the Eagles continue to suffer through a miserable season. Wentz has clearly regressed as a passer, but he's not the only problem in Philadelphia. Head coach Doug Pederson as fallen off as a play caller and the Eagles front office has made a series of Draft Day blunders the past few seasons. Wentz will get the brunt of the criticism - and deservedly so - but the folks around him shouldn't escape criticism. Later, Jason tells us why the ongoing saga surrounding the third postponement of the Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers game has him legitimately concerned about the rest of the NFL season. If the League Offices can't come up with some sort of plan, and if the players can't follow simple protocols, then we could see this sort of thing pop up again. Finally, Jason explains why the untimely injury to New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones could mean that Alex Smith and the Washington Football Team are now the team to beat in the NFC East. Can you believe it? What's more, they're in line to host a playoff game! 2020 is wild, man. Tension is Building Between Arians and Brady, Mahomes is Worth More Than $500 Million & Time for an NFL Bubble

On today’s episode, Jason shares his thoughts on the latest report that there is growing ‘tension’ between Bruce Arians and Tom Brady in Tampa Bay – and that was before the Buccaneers got blasted by the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. We had to say we told you so but… we told you so! Arians and Brady have been in an ongoing power struggle from the day Tom arrived in Tampa. The Bucs are still almost a lock to make the playoffs, but don’t be surprised if all that tension ends up with them going one-and-done in the postseason. Speaking of the Chiefs, did you see what Patrick Mahomes did to that vaunted Bucs secondary? At this rate, that $500 million contract is going to look like a bargain in a few short years because Mahomes has GOAT potential. Moreover, it’s becoming clear that the NFL needs to do something drastic if they have any hope of getting through the season. The Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers game had to be postponed twice due to a COVID outbreak, and the Denver Broncos had to be play on Sunday without a single quarterback on their roster due to contact tracing. It just might be time for the NFL to move to a bubble for the last four weeks of the season. Later, Producer Rob joins the show to help discuss which NFL head coaching vacancies are the most appealing now that the Detroit Lions gig has officially become available, and if the struggles of Andy Reid-disciples Matt Nagy and Doug Pederson could end up hurting Eric Bieniemy this offseason. Finally, Jason closes things out with the Monday Night Football edition of the Best Bet. Post-Thanksgiving NFL Takeaways, Kyler Murray Has A Brighter Future Than Lamar Jackson!

On today's episode, delivers his post-Thanksgiving thoughts on the NFL. Turkey Day had a poor slate of games but it wasn’t without its takeaways. Jason explains why he is officially out on the Detroit Lions and applauds Deshaun Watson for his resurgence amid a down season for the Houston Texans. Things are looking up for the Washington Football Team and Jason believes they have found a star in rookie running back Antonio Gibson. Meanwhile, the Cowboys continue to find new lows and they did so again on Thursday afternoon. The Baltimore Ravens rematch with the Pittsburgh Steelers was postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak and Jason isn’t certain that it will get played this week. How to Bet the Thanksgiving Day NFL Slate

On today's episode, Jason is bringing you a very brief preview of all the upcoming Thanksgiving Day NFL games, and in true Straight Fire fashion he's previewing each game from the gambling perspective. While Joe Public is likely going to bet heavy on the Houston Texans against the Detroit Lions, Jason says the smart play is Detroit. Matthew Stafford always plays better at home and the Lions should get their star running D'Andre Swift back in the lineup. Expect Detroit to cover the 3 points against the banged-up Texans squad. In the afternoon NFC East clash between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Football Team, Jason says he has a hard time believing that Washington will be able to keep up with the Cowboys offensively. Smart money says to bet on the home favorite Cowboys. In the nightcap, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens are dealing with a COVID outbreak and will put their depleted roster up against the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers. Tom Brady is Washed, the Rams are Super Bowl Contenders & NBA Post-Free Agency Power Rankings

On today’s episode, Jason opens things up by dropping a few verbal haymakers on Tom Brady. Tom was anything but terrific in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football. His arm looked shot as he continued to misfire on anything beyond 15 yards, and he turned the ball over 2 more times. Don’t let the season-long stats fool you; Tom Brady is washed. He can get by most teams because he’s so smart and the weapons around him are so talented but put him against a top defense like the Rams and he looks mediocre at best. Speaking of the Rams ,don’t look now but they could be a dark horse Super Bowl contender coming out of the NFC. If Drew Brees returns at anything less than 100% then the Rams just might be the most complete team in that conference. Later, Producer Rob joins the show to help Jason unveil the top 8 teams in each conference now that NBA Free Agency is winding down. Everyone can agree that the Los Angeles Lakers are the prohibitive favorites to come out of the West, but can we expect the Denver Nuggets to make another deep playoff run? And in the Eastern Conference, will the loss of Gordon Hayward turn out to be a blessing in disguise for Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics? The answers may surprise you! Mahomes the Magician, How Aaron Rodgers is Like LeBron & It's Timeout for Tua

On today's episode, Jason interrupts his much-needed vacation to share his thoughts on the 5 biggest headlines to come out of Sunday's Week 11 NFL action. First, he explains why Patrick Mahomes' latest heroic victory - this time against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday Night Football - is just another reason why he may go down in history as the Greatest Quarterback of All-Time. You need him to throw an 80-yard bomb? No problem. You want him to check it down all the way to the endzone? He can do that, too. No matter what the situation is, you can count on Mahomes to get it done. The second biggest story of the day took place in Miami where Dolphins head coach Brian Flores inexplicably benched rookie quarterback Tagovailoa late in their loss to the Denver Broncos. Tua was having a rough game, and that's putting it mildly, but part of developing a young quarterback is letting him learn from experiences like that. Flores may have done irreparable harm to his franchise player. Next, Jason explains why Aaron Rodgers could go down in history as the LeBron James of the NFL. On one hand, they're both arguably the greatest to ever do it in the sports that they play; on the other, they're likely both going to end their careers with less rings than you'd expect a player of that caliber to have. For whatever reason, Rodgers can't seem to get it done in overtime games. Unless he can find a way to get that ship righted he's never going to win another Super Bowl. The fourth biggest story of the day has to be the deterioration of Carson Wentz. At one point, Wentz was an MVP front-runner destined to take over the League. Now? He’s arguably the worst starting quarterback in all of football. It might be too soon to turn the keys over to Jalen Hurts given Wentz’ contract situation, but the idea definitely needs to be on the table moving forward. Later, Jason tells us why Taysom Hill should be thanking the New Orleans Saints for helping him get the win in his first NFL start against the Atlanta Falcons. That’s not to say that Hill played poorly – he played pretty well actually – but the Saints defense has been lights out for three straight weeks now. If they can keep it up, they should be the favorites to win the NFC. Finally, Jason closes things out with the Monday Night Football edition of the Best Bet. Let’s just hope it does better than his Sunday picks. Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Seahawks Soar Atop the NFC, a $100 Listener Giveaway & Steph Curry's Legacy Defining Season

On today’s episode, Jason tells us why the Seattle Seahawks impressive win over the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football should propel them to the best record in the NFC at the end of the season. What’s more, it was clear late in that game that Kyler Murray still has a lot to learn about playing the quarterback position. His time will come – and come quickly – but right now he’s not quite on the same level as Russell Wilson. Later, Producer Rob joins the show to unveil the 3 winners for this month’s $100 giveaway. Klay Thompson and the End of the Splash Bros Era, a New James Harden Trade Idea & NBA Draft Reaction

On today’s episode, Jason starts off by addressing his report that the New York Giants fired their offensive line coach after he got into a fist fight with head coach Joe Judge. Local media were quick to shoot the story down, which isn’t all that surprising if you know the inner workings of sports media, but our fearless leader is standing by what he said. Jason also shares his thoughts on the unfortunate injury suffered by Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson. All signs point to it being an Achilles tear, which would not only end his Thompson’s season but also any hope the Warriors had of winning an NBA championship. However, Producer Rob joins the show to explain why he thinks Klay’s injury should give Golden State the kick in the butt they needed to get involved in the James Harden Sweepstakes. Steph Curry isn’t getting any younger, and a trade for Harden would be enough to keep the Warriors in the championship mix for at least two more seasons. Plus, the guys do a deep dive on the NBA Draft and tell us which teams performed well (Philadelphia 76ers) and which teams didn’t (Minnesota Timberwolves and New Orleans Pelicans). Can't Take Anthony Edwards #1, a Supermax for Giannis Means Nothing & Legendary Broadcaster Brent Musburger

On today's episode, Jason opens things up with a quick preview of tonight's NBA Draft and tells us why he's placing a small wager on James Wiseman to go first overall to the Minnesota Timberwolves and why he's a little miffed about Anthony Edwards' peculiar comments on the eve of the Draft. Later, Jason lists a few Week 11 games in the NFL that he's looking to lay some money down on. None of these games are ones he's willing to bet the farm on, but he'd definitely be willing to drop some 'pizza money' and see what happens. Finally, Jason drops his final word on the series of trades that the Milwaukee Bucks made in hopes of getting Giannis Antetokounmpo to sign the supermax extension. Haven't the Bucks learned anything from the 4 previous players to sign it? Three of them will likely have been traded at least once in short order (Russell Westbrook, John Wall and James Harden). Getting Giannis to sign will feel all warm and fuzzy in the short term but if the Bucks continue to flame out in the playoffs don't be surprised if he decides to bolt for a Super Team a few years from now. Plus, Las Vegas Raiders radio play-by-play voice and VSiN host Brent Musburger swings by for an extended conversation to explain why he absolutely believes the Raiders are a playoff-caliber team this season, why he's not surprised that first round pick Henry Ruggs has had a slow start to his rookie season thus far, why this Sunday Night's game between the Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs is the ultimate 'Pros vs Joes' game for gamblers, why he has a personal bone to pick with the Indianapolis Colts this season, why the lack of crowds is arguably the biggest reason why scoring is at an all-time high this season in the NFL, why he's not expecting the Pittsburgh Steelers to cover the spread this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which two things he would change about sports television broadcasting today, and much more! Bucks are Dealing But Giannis is No Closer to a Ring, James Harden vs the Houston Rockets & NBA Draft preview with ESPN's Fran Fraschilla

On today's episode, Jason does a deep dive on all the wheeling and dealing that went on Monday in the NBA. The biggest news by far was the Milwaukee Bucks working deep into the night to acquire guards Jrue Holiday and Bogdan Bogdanovic. Did the Bucks give up a ton of roster depth and a billion first round picks to make the deals happen? Yes. Will the moves inspire superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to sign a super-max contract extension in Milwaukee? Probably. Do either of those things make the Bucks more likely to win a title in the suddenly crowded East? Nope. In the end, it all may end up being much ado about nothing. The sneakiest move - and likely most impactful - was made by the Portland Trailblazer. They were able to acquire Robert Covington from the Houston Rockets, giving them the big wing defender they desperately needed. Don't be surprised to see the Blazers back in the top-4 of the Western Conference. But, perhaps the biggest move of the offseason is the one that is still yet to be made: James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. Rumor has it Harden is trying to force his way to Brooklyn, but should Houston give in to his demands? Producer Rob joins the show to discuss the issue, and explain why he thinks the Rockets may send The Beard somewhere else just out of spite. Plus, ESPN college basketball analyst Fran Fraschilla swings by to explain why he's calls the 2020 NBA Draft a 'smoke and mirrors draft' that's being overanalyzed by members of the media, why University of Washington big man Isaiah Stewart would be a perfect fit with the Miami Heat, why James Wiseman reminds him of a young David Robinson and why he's really hoping that big man lands with the Golden State Warriors, why concerns about Anthony Edwards' defense are a tad overblown considering most rookies can't play NBA-level defense anyways, why he believes LaMelo Ball could slide all the way down to the New York Knicks with the #8 overall pick, why he believes Duke swingman Cassius Stanley could wind up being the steal of the draft, and much more! Kyler Murray is Killin' 'Em, Lamar Jackson is on a Kaepernick Trajectory & James Harden to the Nets?

On today’s episode, Jason opens things up by sharing some quick thoughts on a few of the minor Sunday headlines, including: the Los Angeles Lakers’ brilliant trade to acquire Dennis Schroder to help bolster their chances of winning back-to-back NBA titles, Drew Brees’ injury scare and how it could impact the New Orleans Saints moving forward, and why the New England Patriots’ upset victory over the Baltimore Ravens was huge for the wiseguys in Las Vegas. Next, Jason does a deep dive into the ‘Hail Murray’ pass from Kyler Murray to DeAndre Hopkins to help the Arizona Cardinals steal a win against the Buffalo Bills. Murray is easily the most exciting player in the NFL right now, and he’s closing fast on Patrick Mahomes in the race for the MVP. While the NFL seems to have figured out Lamar Jackson, Murray has taken his game up another level. Speaking of Jackson, he still hasn’t shown the ability to come from behind and win. Even more concerning, however, is that he seems to have taken a step a back in Year Two with offensive coordinator Greg Roman. Let’s not forget that Roman was calling plays for another athletic quarterback who took the League by storm only to come crashing back down to Earth a few years later: Colin Kaepernick. Later, Producer Rob joins the show to help Jason make sense of the rumor that James Harden may look to force a trade to the Brooklyn Nets. Harden, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving would instantly become the favorites to win the East, but are we certain the trio would have the chemistry needed to win a title? Who’s going to fall back and become the third banana? If the trade goes down, it’s going to be fascinating to watch it play out. The Colts Are Legit, Lamar Jackson Dry Snitched on Himself & FanDuel's John Sheeran

On today's episode, Jason starts things by telling us how impressed he was with the Indianapolis Colts and the way they thoroughly outplayed the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football. The offensive line is tough and the defense is great, but the emergence of rookie wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. has turned Indy into a legitimate threat in the AFC. Suddenly, Philip Rivers is surrounded by weapons and all he has to do is manage the game for the team to be successful. Jason also shares his thoughts on Lamar Jackson's decision to vent about the predictability of the Baltimore Ravens offense. While Jackson's concerns are valid, in many ways it feels like his comments say more about his own limitations than it does about the playcalling. Needless to say, Sunday Night's matchup against the Patriots is a big one for Jackson and the Ravens. Plus, FanDuel director of trading John Sheeran swings by to explain why the NBA drives a bigger betting handle every season than the NFL, how difficult it can be to set the correct gambling lines given that there is no true home field advantage due to the pandemic, why he never believed in the 'The Sharps vs. The Squares' narrative that seems to permeate through sports media, why he doesn't agree with moving the lines just because the overwhelming amount of money is on one side, why the mantra 'never bet on bad teams' doesn't always pay off, and much more! Russell Westbrook wants out of Houston, COVID is Crushing College Football & Masters Preview with SEC Network's Peter Burns

On today's episode, Jason share his thoughts on reports that Russell Westbrook has requested a trade from the Houston Rockets. Westbrook has proven over the years that he doesn't play well with others and his style of play doesn't translate to playoff success, so it's really no surprise that he flamed out in Houston. The real question then is: Which team is crazy enough to trade for him? The Knicks? The Clippers? Later, Producer Rob checks in to explain why he believes Westbrook's trade demand says a whole lot more about James Harden and his overall lack of accountability than it does about Westbrook. Once Russ gets traded, Harden will have run off 3 separate All-NBA teammates - Dwight Howard, Chris Paul and Westbrook. Wow! Plus, ESPN SEC Network host and former collegiate golfer Peter Burns swings by to explain why he always felt that this season was the perfect year to expand the College Football Playoff... until he realized teams may not even able to finish the regular season, why he believes COVID-19 contract tracing is the biggest reason why so many college football games are being postponed or canceled, how the PGA Tour has turned into the NBA in that guys would rather be buddies than rivals, how Bryson DeChambeau became the sport's villain (in a good way), how Tiger Woods transcended the sport of golf, and much more! More NFL Football is a Good Thing, Knicks and Suns want CP3 & Could LaMelo Ball fall in the NBA Draft?

On today's episode, Jason starts things off by explaining why he's fully on-board with the NFL's plan to switch to a 16-team Playoff bracket in the event that not every team can complete a full regular season schedule due to COVID. Producer Rob pushes back on the idea in a big way - and even Jason admits that the contingency plan should've been put into place before the season even started - but you can never have too much good NFL football. Later, the guys share their thoughts on the reports that the New York Knicks and the Phoenix Suns are both interested in trading for Chris Paul. Nobody really expects CP3 to play a full 82 games, but he could be very nice addition to either squad albeit for completely different reasons. Plus, NBA Draft analyst Matt Babcock swings by to explain why the lack of a clear-cut superstar doesn’t mean that this is a weak Draft at all, why the ‘entitled’ label surrounding LaMelo Ball could lead to him falling out of the top-5 picks, why he believes that Anthony Edwards is the most talented player available, why James Wiseman has the athletic profile of a guy like David Robinson – which should make him an ideal fit for today’s NBA, why character concerns could push Cole Anthony down a few Draft boards, and much more! The Jets Lose and Still Win, the Fraudulent Seattle Seahawks & Bad Blood Between Brady and Arians?

On today's episode, Jason starts things by taking a small victory lap after his beloved New York Jets managed to stay competitive and still lose on Monday Night Football to the New England Patriots. Gang Green cannot afford to eek out victories when they're still just 1 game up on the Jacksonville Jaguars in the race for the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Trevor Lawrence is a once-in-a-generation type talent at the quarterback position, and if it takes an 0-16 season to get him to the Jets, then so be it. Later, Producer Rob joins the show to help Jason make sense of Bruce Arians' latest comments about Tom Brady being unable - or unwilling - to get the ball to superstar wide receiver Mike Evans on Sunday night against the New Orleans Saints. Brady had an off-game to be sure, but isn't it odd that Antonio Brown caught more balls in his first week on the team than Evans did? It could be nothing; it come be something. All we know is that this isn't the first time that Arians has called out Brady publicly, and Tom Terrific didn't take too well to that kind of treatment back in New England. File this one away for later. Finally, the guys close things out by explaining why Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks are not legitimate Super Bowl contenders at this point in time. Wilson is awesome, but that Seahawks defense is one of the worst we've seen in a while. Unless they can find a way to even slow down the opposition, they'll find themselves one-and-done in the NFL Playoffs. The Best Team in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes for MVP & Time to Break Up the Bears

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing a quick thought on the New Orleans Saints beatdown of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football. Now, there are a lot of conclusions you can draw from that game, but the biggest one is this: There is no dominant team in today's NFL. The Bucs might be the most complete team, but dominant teams don't get beat by 35 points. The Seattle Seahawks defense can't stop a nosebleed, and the Green Bay Packers got their doors blown off 2 weeks ago. Even the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers needed a 4th quarter comeback to beat the hapless Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. In fact, Jason argues that in a field of very-good-but-not-great teams, the only way to really determine whose the best is by identifying which team has the best player, and that honor belongs to the Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes has re-asserted himself as the clear-cut MVP frontrunner, but his greatness is being taken for granted. In many ways, Mahomes is the LeBron James of the NFL: He should be the MVP every year, but voters will still find a way to give it someone else. Later, Jason explains why it's time to consider blowing up the Chicago Bears. Nick Foles is clearly not a franchise quarterback, and noted offensive 'guru' Matt Nagy has shown that he's anything but. Jason also shares a quick thought on Jim Harbaugh's latest embarrassing loss as the head coach at Michigan, and explain why he's almost certain that Harbaugh will be back in the NFL next season. Finally, Jason closes things out by handing out the Monday Night Football edition of The Best Bet. Packers Pound the 49ers, Jim Harbaugh to the Chargers? & FOX College Football analyst Robert Smith

On today's episode, Jason starts things off by briefly talking about the Green Bay Packers beatdown of the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football. The game was basically over in the second quarter, and things went pretty much how most of us thought it would: Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams were too much to handle, and the 49ers offense was too banged up to really changed the Packers defense. Later, Jason explains why he thinks Saturday's game between Michigan and Indiana is essentially a must-win for Jim Harbaugh's Wolverines. But, if they lose, it won't be all bad since Harbaugh could likely just head back to the NFL. Jason runs down the list of teams who could serve as possible landing spots, but says there's one specific team in the AFC that makes the most sense. Plus, former NFL running back and FOX Sports college football analyst Robert Smith swings by to explain how COVID has affected his travel and work schedules as a broadcaster, why he can't envision Jim Harbaugh willingly leaving the University of Michigan even if the Wolverines continue to disappoint this season, why he is understanding of the fact that Trevor Lawrence's COVID recovery protocol at Clemson is different than Graham Mertz's at Wisconsin, why he's hopeful that all the uncertainty surrounding this year's College Football Playoff will force the committee to expand to 8 teams, why he'd love to see a team like the University of Cincinnati get a playoff berth, and much more! Thursday Night Football Preview & NFL Week 9 wagering with Dave Weaver

On today’s episode, Jason starts things off by previewing tonight’s Thursday Night Football game between the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers. To say these teams are banged up would be an understatement. The Packers could be without their top 3 running backs, and the San Francisco 49ers will be every single starting offensive skill position player. Ouch! And yet, Jason discovered one statistical nugget that has him feeling very confident about San Francisco’s ability to at least cover the spread. Plus, FanDuel and TVG sports betting expert Dave Weaver swings by to discuss the NFL Week 9 gambling lines, and explain why he also likes the 49ers to cover the spread against the Packers, why he's expecting the Washington Football Team's defense to be the reason they blow out the New York Giants, why he likes Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals to cover the spread against the Miami Dolphins, why he feels much more comfortable taking the Pittsburgh Steelers in survivor pools rather than picking them to cover the double-digit spread against the Dallas Cowboys, why he's leaning towards the New Orleans Saints to cover the spread against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers even with Antonio Brown added to the mix, why he loves the Baltimore Ravens as a Super Bowl futures play, and much more! Betting Road Underdogs in the NFL & NFL Trade Deadline talk with The MMQB's Andrew Brandt

It's still very early in the week, but all you bettors out there would be wise to take a long look at the Las Vegas Raiders traveling to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers and the Chicago Bears against the Tennessee Titans. Plus, former Green Bay Packers executive and MMQB columnist Andrew Brandt swings to discuss what went down (or more specifically, what did NOT go down) at the NFL trade deadline. Brandt explains why he believes the Packers ultimately decided not to make a trade for Houston Texans wide receiver Will Fuller and it had everything to do with Fuller's impending free agency, why Green Bay has historically been quiet at the deadline and in free agency, why the uncertainty surrounding the 2021 salary cap makes draft picks even more valuable, why the San Francisco 49ers creative management of the salary cap could allow them to move on from Jimmy Garoppolo after the season, why he's only cautiously optimistic that every NFL team will be able to play all 16 games this season, and much more! Danny Dimes is Broke, Tough Debut for Tua & Sam Darnold to Replace Jimmy G in San Francisco?

On today's episode, Jason starts things off by sharing his thoughts on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers narrow victory over the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. There's not much to take from the game on the Bucs side since they were clearly looking ahead to their Week 9 matchup against the New Orleans Saints, but there is one big takeaway from the Giants side: Daniel Jones is not The Guy. He's too inconsistent and he turns the ball over way too much to be a franchise quarterback. Don't be surprised to see the Giants target his replacement at the top of the 2021 NFL Draft. Later, Jason explains why Jimmy Garoppolo's ankle injury means he's probably done for the season, but more importantly, it means we've probably seen his last game as the starting quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers. Jimmy G has been injured for most of the last few seasons - and he's never been an elite quarterback to begin with. Now, the 49ers could target a veteran this offseason like Matt Ryan or Matthew Stafford. Or, they could think outside the box and make a move on New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold. The Jets appear to be a lock to take Clemson's Trevor Lawrence in the Draft, so Darnold could be had on the cheap. Finally, Jason closes things out by explaining why he was fairly unimpressed by Tua Tagovailoa's debut performance as the Miami Dolphins starting quarterback. He just looked small and unathletic compared to the other quarterbacks in his draft class. For the sake of Dolphins fans, let's hope Game One was an aberration. Lamar Jackson is the Giannis of the NFL, Packers and Titans are Frauds & It's Over for the Patriots

On today’s episode, Jason starts things off my explaining how the Baltimore Ravens loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers proves that Lamar Jackson is the Giannis Antetokounmpo of the NFL - a marvelous regular season player whose fatal flaws get exposed against the best competition. Three years into his NFL career, Jackson still hasn’t shown he’s a good enough passer to beat good teams when his ability to run has been taken away either through scheme or game flow. Until he proves he can win games from the pocket, the Ravens will never win big in the postseason. Jason also explains why the Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers both losing to 1-win teams proves that neither team should be viewed as a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Only frauds lose to bad teams this deep into the season. What’s more, Aaron Rodgers seems to recognize that his team is lacking in at least one area and he’s doing everything he can to force the Packers front office into making a move before the trade deadline. Later, Jason tells us why the New England Patriots heartbreaking loss on the road against the Buffalo Bills should place them firmly alongside the New York Jets and the New York Giants in the Trevor Lawrence Sweepstakes. None of those teams are going anywhere this season, and the sooner Bill Belichick admits it the better off the Patriots will be in the long run. Panthers are Who We Thought They Were, Trevor Lawrence Has the 'Rona & Professional Bettor Preston Johnson

Dodgers Win the World Series, Analytics Killed the Rays & COVID Almost Ruined It All

On today's episode, Jason brings us wall-to-wall reaction to the Los Angeles Dodgers victory in Game 6 to clinch the World Series title. Unfortunately, the biggest story of the night had nothing to do with what actually happened on the field as we found out that Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner tested positive for COVID-19 and had to be pulled from the game in the sixth inning. Can you imagine what would've happened if the Tampa Bay Rays would've came back and won Game 6? Would they still have played Game 7 on Wednesday? Major League Baseball, FOX television and the Dodgers, especially, dodged a major bullet on that one. On the field, the biggest story, by far, centered around Kevin Cash's decision to pull ace pitcher Blake Snell in the middle of the fifth inning with the Rays up 1-0. Snell has been almost unhittable the entire game up to that point, but Cash decided to pull Snell anyway because the 'analytics say he struggles his third time through a lineup'. Seriously. The over-reliance on analytics has run amok throughout the sports world, and it may have cost the Rays a World Series championship in the process. Finally, in what may have been the biggest storyline of the night were it new for Turner's COVID test and Cash's managerial blunder, kudos to Clayton Kershaw for finally getting over the hump and earning that World Series ring. Fraudulent Chicago Bears, Baker Mayfield is Better Without OBJ & World Series talk with FS1's Rob Parker

On today's episode, Jason shares his thoughts on the Los Angeles Rams' demolition of the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. Not only did the Bears get exposed as a playoff frauds, but quarterback Nick Foles may have thrown head coach Matt Nagy under the bus as well. But, don't let the Rams victory fool you into thinking that they're some world-beater either; Los Angeles still hasn't beaten a good team yet and their schedule is only going to get tougher. Later, Jason explains why he thinks Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield could end up turning the corner in the second half of the season now that Odell Beckham Jr. is out for the rest of the season with an injury. Mayfield can now just hit the open man as he no longer has to force-feed his diva wide receiver to keep him happy. Plus, FOX Sports Radio host and FS1 analyst Rob Parker swings by to discuss what it was like watching Game 3, 4 and 5 of the World Series from the stadium in Arlington, why he was so impressed with the way the Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back to win Game 5 after their excruciating loss in Game 4, why Clayton Kershaw needs a ring to rid himself of the 'Postseason Choke Artist' reputation, why he isn't a fan of playoff expansion in Major League Baseball (or any sport), and much more! Tom Brady is Terrific, Bill Belichick is Feeling Blue & The Best NFL Sunday Slate So Far

On today’s episode, Jason and Producer Rob open things up with a quick shoutout to Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers for bouncing back following their stunning Game 4 loss and win Game 5 of the World Series. Next, Jason takes a small victory lap following Kyler Murray’s virtuoso performance on Sunday Night Football against Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks. Don’t look now but the Arizona Cardinals could threaten for the NFC West crown. Later, Jason explains why it’s so clear by now – if it wasn’t already before – that Tom Brady made the right choice by leaving Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are clearly the best team in the NFC, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. On the flip side, the Patriots appear to be a middling football team and are suddenly on the verge of completing their first October in 20 years. But, be wary Bucs fans as the addition of mercurial wide receiver Antonio Brown could throw a monkey wrench into all of this. Jason also shares his thoughts on Odell Beckham Jr’s unfortunate knee injury and explains why Baker Mayfield should still be able to thrive without him at least in the short term, and later tells us why the Detroit Lions’ come-from-behind victory against the Atlanta Falcons could give them the momentum they need to make a playoff push this season. Done with Doug Pederson, What to Make of Carson Wentz & Football Outsider's Aaron Schatz

On today's episode, Jason open things up by sharing his thoughts on the Philadelphia Eagles rollercoaster victory over the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football. Daniel Jones was turnover machine and Carson Wentz was wildly inconsistent, both of which were to be expected, but the big takeaway form this game was the evolution of Doug Pederson. Two years ago, he was dialing up trick plays to Nick Foles for touchdowns in the Super Bowl. Now? He's dialing up 4th down fade routes to receivers who are still without an NFL catch. Safe to say that Jason is officially done with Pederson. Later, Football Outsiders' Aaron Schatz swings by to discuss his creation of the DVOA metric that's become so wildly popular in NFL circles, how the Eagles' 2018 Super Bowl run changed the way teams feel about being aggressive playcalling, why it's hard to determine if the Las Vegas Raiders' inability to practice this week due to COVID would be a positive or a negative this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, why you should expect Ryan Tannehill to continue his high level of play moving forward, why Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns are nowhere near as good as their record while Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints are much better than theirs, and much more! Plus, Jason closes things out with a special 3-pack edition of the Best Bet for Week 7 in the NFL. Miami Turned to Tua Too Early, The Hard Truth About Carson Wentz & The Ringer's John Gonzalez

On today's episode, Jason gives a quick hat tip to the Tampa Bay Rays for winning Game 2 of the World Series and setting up what we're all hoping to be a long series against the heavily favored Los Angeles Dodgers, and tells us why he thinks the Miami Dolphins made a mistake turning the keys over to rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa while the team is still in the thick of the AFC East title chase. Jason also explains why he's dubious about the New Orleans Pelicans' decision to hire Stan Van Gundy as their next head coach. SVG was an absolute dumpster fire during his stint with the Detroit Pistons and if things start to go bad again the Pelicans run the risk of alienating their superstar Zion Williamson. Plus, The Ringer's John Gonzalez swings by for a long interview to discuss the evolution of print journalism over the years and the harsh realities that upcoming journalists need to accept if they want to enjoy a long career in the field, explain why bad injury luck is the probably the biggest reason why the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles are so bad, discuss why Eagles fans were so quick to turn on Wentz once he started to play poorly, tell us why he believes Doc Rivers is a much better coach than guys Jason give him credit for, and much more! Kudos to Kerhsaw, Brady is Winning the Break-Up with Belichick & Former NFL Pro Bowler Donte Whitner

On today's episode, Jason opens things up by congratulating Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw for delivering a vintage 'Regular Season Kershaw' performance in the postseason to help Los Angeles win Game 1 of the World Series. He also does a deep dive into the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick break-up now that we're almost halfway through their first season. As things stand right now, it's clear that Belichick's New England Patriots and Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trending in opposite directions. To put it quite simply, Brady is 'winning' that break-up. Plus, former Pro Bowl safety and NBC Sports Bay Area analyst Donte Whitner swings by to explain how working in television compares to playing int he NFL, why he considers Vic Fangio to be one of the greatest defensive minds in League history, why he believes college football is doing a poor job of preparing young quarterbacks for the NFL (shout out Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen), why Russell Wilson and Patrick Mahomes are clearly the top two quarterbacks in the NFL right now, why he believes the quality of play in the NFL is suffering this season, and much more!
