A Silver Lining for the Lakers, NBA Opening Night Reactions & the 2022-23 NBA Predictions

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) kick things off with a deep into the Golden State Warriors' Opening Night beatdown of the Los Angeles Lakers. While most of the talking heads will use the game as an excuse to rip the Lakers, Jason is looking for the silver lining. Every flaw we thought they had (lack of chemistry due to roster turnover, lack of overall shooting, etc.) was exposed, but we also saw a few good things they can build upon. But, no matter how you slice it, it's pretty clear that the Lakers are lightyears away from Steph Curry and the Warriors at this point. Later, J-Mac brings us a full preview of the 2022-23 NBA season, both from a purely basketball and gambling perspective. Are we sure LeBron and the Lakers will be comfortably in the playoffs? Can Giannis Antetokounmpo carry an injury-depleted Milwaukee Bucks team in the East? Is this the year Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers finally break through? Which Eastern Conference forward is a better bet to win MVP: Kevin Durant or Jayson Tatum? Will the return of Jamal Murray alongside Nikola Jokic be enough to propel the Denver Nuggets to the top of the Western Conference? Our fearless leader has the answer to all those questions – and more! Chargers Luck Out Again, the Broncos Look Busted + ESPN NBA reporter Dave McMenamin

On today's episode, Jason opens things up with a few thoughts on the ugly Monday Night Football game between the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers lucked into victory for the second consecutive week (this time thanks to a muffed punt in overtime), and were it not for some absolutely horrendous quarterback play from Russell Wilson in the second half and overtime, fans in Los Angeles would be losing their minds this morning. Neither team looked like they deserved to get the win last night, but given how clustered things are at the top of the AFC, we're sure the Chargers will take it. Later, ESPN NBA reporter Dave McMenamin swings by to discuss what the realistic expectations should be this season for the Los Angeles Lakers, why Patrick Beverley is the third most important player on the team behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis, why the team has such high hopes for Kendrick Nunn, why a rumored Russell Westbrook trade to the Indiana Pacers ultimately fell through and whether or not we can expect Russ to finish the season on the roster, what it’s like covering LeBron on a day-to-day basis, and much more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Tom Brady Isn't Focused, Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson are on the Struggle Bus & The Bills are the Best Team in the NFL

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall analysis of all the Sunday NFL action in Week 6. With apologies to Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, the biggest story has to be Tom Brady. TB12 skipped a Saturday walk through to go to Robert Kraft's wedding over the weekend... and promptly lost to a Pittsburgh Steelers team that just got blasted by 35 points the week before. Whether it's the Kraft wedding, the separation from Gisele Bundchen or the two-week sabbatical during training camp, it's pretty clear that Brady isn't fully focused on football right now. However, Brady isn't the only NFL quarterback whose currently going through a rough patch right now as both Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson appear to be stuck on the Struggle Bus the last few weeks. Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers offense have been stuck in neutral all season long, and it's become painfully obvious that they need to make a move for a veteran wide receiver (DJ Moore, Brandin Cooks, etc.) In Baltimore, Jackson has seen his play taper off considerably the last few weeks. If he can't get back to the MVP-level he showed early on, are we sure he's going to get that fully guaranteed contract from the Ravens he's been seeking? Later, the recap the two biggest games of the day (Chiefs vs. Bills / Cowboys vs Eagles), and do a quick debate about whether the Bills or the Eagles should be viewed as the best team in the NFL right now. Their answers may surprise you. Finally, J-Mac closes the show with the Monday Night Football Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers edition of the Best Bet. Commanders Win the Latest Thursday Night Snoozefest, a Dark Horse College Football Playoff Contender + Vegas Insider host Joe Osborne

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get the party started by sharing their thoughts on the unbelievably boring Thursday Night game between the Washington Commanders and the Chicago Bears. The fact that Ron Rivera's postgame rant is getting more play on Friday morning than the game itself speaks volumes. Later, the guys hit us rapid fire with sports takes on everything from UCLA's case as a dark horse College Football Playoff contender to whether or not Josh McDaniels could be one-and-done as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Oh, and with NBA Opening Night around the corner, J-Mac and Rob G tell us whether or not we should expect the LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers to miss the playoffs yet again. Finally, Vegas Insider ‘Chasing That Paper!’ host Joe Osborne swings by to discuss why he likes – but doesn’t quite love – the Buffalo Bills to cover the spread this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, why the public bettors might be on to something by going to heavy on the New Orleans Saints over the Cincinnati Bengals, why the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Pittsburgh Steelers is one of the biggest mismatches on the board, why he’s betting the over in the Minnesota Vikings vs Miami Dolphins game, why he loves the Seattle Seahawks with the points against the Arizona Cardinals, and much more! Bad News for Bryce Young, a Strange Decision on Draymond Green & the Thursday Night Football Best Bet

On today's episode, Jason gets the party started with a little inside information pertaining to Alabama quarterback Bryce Young. College football fans across the country are geeked for this Saturday's showdown between the Crimson Tide and the Tennessee Volunteers. Unfortunately, all signs point to Young missing the game due to injury. On a positive note, at least now all eyes will be focused on Tennessee's dark horse Heisman contender: Hendon Hooker. Later, Jason switches gears to the NBA to share his thoughts on the Golden State Warriors' decision not to suspend Draymond Green after he punched teammate Jordan Poole at practice. The video getting released certainly changed the way the public felt about the incident, so it is a little shocking that the Warriors would welcome Green back so easily. Either way, don't be shocked if this is Draymond's final season with the Warriors. Monday Night Football Recap: Chris Jones got Hosed, Davante Adams Shoved a Fan & the Chiefs Got the Win

On today's episode, Jason hits us with a deep dive into the wild Monday Night Football game between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs won the game, but the end result seemed almost secondary given how many 'other' storylines emerged. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were unstoppable for Kansas City... and yet the Chiefs player generating the most buzz this morning is defensive tackle Chris Jones in the wake of that phantom roughing the passing call. The NFL officiating in the wake of the Tua Tagovailoa injury has been absolutely brutal. Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams had monster games themselves... and yet all anyone wanted to talk about was Adams shoving a cameraman in frustration as he exited the field. At a minimum, Adams is looking at a hefty fine - and a potential personal injury lawsuit. With the Raiders sitting at 1-4 and head coach Josh McDaniels making a series of questionable decisions, it's entirely possible that he could be sitting on the coaching hot seat the rest of the season. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Time for the Steelers to Tank, How the Jets Can Make the Playoffs & Is Stafford Better than Goff?

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall analysis on all the biggest headlines to come out of Sunday's NFL action. First, it's time for the Pittsburgh Steelers to embrace the tank. The Buffalo Bills absolutely obliterated the Steelers on Sunday, and given how banged up that roster is right now, there's a good chance they could be 1-7 at the season's mid-way point. Pittsburgh is going to be bad whether they want to be or not, so they might as well dive into the deep end. Sticking in the AFC, have you noticed that the New York Jets have the third best record in the conference through five weeks? With teams like the Miami Dolphins banged up beyond recognition and teams like the Cincinnati Bengals being woefully disappointing, it's not hard to image a scenario where the Jets sneak into the playoffs - especially if the Los Angeles Chargers continue to eschew common sense in favor of analytics. Moving over the NFC, it's time to have a real conversation about the Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams. Stafford has been a turnover machine, but he's not getting much help from anyone else on that offense outside of Cooper Kupp. That said, is it fair to say that the move from Jared Goff to Stafford was a lateral one? A case can certainly be made that both guys only seem to thrive when everything else is clicking around him and turn into dumpster fires when things get shaky. Finally, J-Mac closes the show with a very special Kansas City Chiefs-Las Vegas Raiders edition of the Best Bet. try to manipulate the line in their favor Click here to subscribe, rate and review all of the latest Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre podcasts! #FSRWeekendsSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Another Rough Night for Russell Wilson and the Broncos, NFL Week 5 Best Bets + Vegas Insider reporter Patrick Everson

On today’s episode, Jason kicks things off by taking a verbal baseball bat to Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos in the wake of their embarrassing home loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Wilson and the offense have been unbelievably bad through the first week of the regular season. If things don’t turn around – and fast – head coach Nathaniel Hackett could get fired before the calendar hits December. Later, Vegas Insider and FOX Sports reporter Patrick Everson swings by to discuss why some sportsbooks are less forthcoming with betting trends, why in-game wagering can actually be more beneficial for bettors when they don’t really love one particular side, why the Pros and the Joes are split on the Dallas Cowboys-Los Angeles Rams game, why the sharps were in so early on the Cincinnati Bengals over the Baltimore Ravens, why he’s staying far away from Buffalo Bills-Pittsburgh Steelers, and much more! Defending Anthony Davis, Draymond Green Decked His Teammate + CBS Colorado sports reporter Justin Adams

On today’s episode, Jason kicks things off with a quick defense of Anthony Davis in the wake of the online backlash that hit the Los Angeles Lakers big man after he sat out Wednesday’s preseason game with a back issue. Has anyone noticed that AD has actually been more available than superstars like Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Kyrie Irving? Why the talking heads have taken Davis to task but let the other guys slide is beyond me. Sticking in the NBA, multiple outlets reported that Draymond Green punched Jordan Poole at practice on Wednesday. Almost immediately after the news broke several reporters tried to spin the news in Green’s favor. Chances are this whole thing blows over, but if it doesn’t, you just know the Golden State Warriors would choose Poole. Later, CBS Colorado sports reporter Justin Adams swings by to preview the Thursday Night Football matchup between the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts, how the Denver offense has turned Russell Wilson into the rookie year version of himself, where Wilson ranks in the hierarchy of AFC West quarterbacks, why it’s become clear that head coach Nathaniel Hackett is in over his head, the possibility that Eric Bieniemy could become the next head coach of the Colorado Buffalos, and much more! The Truth About Aaron Judge's 62*, Wenbanyama and Scoot Steal the Show + FOX Soccer analyst Stu Holden

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on Aaron Judge hitting his 62nd home run of the season. It's a great accomplishment, but the fact remains that Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa all hit more dingers in a single season. So why then are television executives going out of their way to ignore it? Is it because Major League Baseball was complicit in the Steroid Era? Plus, J-Mac does a quick dive into the big showdown between the presumptive #1 and #2 picks in the 2023 NBA Draft - Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson. Big Vic is obviously the crown jewel, but Scoot is no consolation prize. In fact, Jason argues that Henderson is the second-coming of Derrick Rose. Later, FOX Soccer analyst Stu Holden swings by to discuss the US Men’s National Team’s underwhelming outings recently ahead of the upcoming World Cup, how he sees the final roster coming together and which potential lineup issues they could face, what we can expect from this young team in their first World Cup, the keys to getting out of group play, the steady growth of Major League Soccer here in the United States, and much more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Rams Aren't Real Contenders, Matthew Stafford the Turnover Machine & NBA Preseason Overreactions

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) swings by to discuss the San Francisco 49ers' bludgeoning of the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football. As impressive as the Niners looked, however, the real story here has to be the Rams. Their offensive line has been terrible through the first 4 weeks, and if they can't get it together it's hard to take them seriously as a Super Bowl contender this season. In fact, the guys argue that the defending champions shouldn't even be viewed as Tier 2 Super Bowl contender at this point. The only point of contention for J-Mac and Rob G is how much of the blame lies at the feet of Matthew Stafford. Was last season's playoff run just a mirage? Is he really nothing more than a more polished version of Jameis Winston? Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Ravens Blow Another Big Lead, the Bucs Deserve a Pass & Baker Mayfield's Last Season in the NFL?

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get the party started with a deep dive into the Baltimore Ravens' crushing loss at home to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. The Ravens have now blown 17+ point leads in both of their losses so far this season, and John Harbaugh is taking a ton of heat this morning for his decision to forego a field goal in the final minutes in favor of a 4th down try from the two yard line (which resulted in a Lamar Jackson interception). Baltimore wasn't the only heavyweight taking arrows today, however, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got absolutely blasted by Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night. Even still, J-Mac says Tom Brady and the boys deserve a pass for their performance for several reasons - most notably because there was a freaking hurricane ravaging through the state of Florida all last week! It's hard to focus on football when the entire region is flooded. Just sayin'... Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers beat the New England Patriots, but they haven't been impressive in any of their 3 victories so far this season. On the flip side, Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos lost to the Las Vegas Raiders in what was arguably their best offensive performance of the year. Is it fair to say that neither team is all that good? Speaking of disappointments, have you seen what Baker Mayfield has been doing with the Carolina Panthers thus far? Yikes! In fact, things have gotten so bad for the former #1 overall pick that J-Mac and Rob G actually had to discuss whether or not Mayfield would be back in the NFL in 2023. Aaron Judge's 61st Blast Got Botched, a Tipping Point for the Patriots & Monday Night Football Best Bets

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a quick homage to Aaron Judge after the New York Yankees' slugger hit his 61st home run of the season. It was a historic moment in MLB history... and YES Network play-by-play man Michael Kay absolutely botched the call. Moments like that deserve an iconic call (and a little ambient crowd noise), but Kay couldn't deliver. Not to be outdone, a group of fans in the stands had a chance to catch the historic home run ball and not a single one was able to come down with it. Oy! Moving over to the NFL, it's all bad right now for the Los Angeles Chargers and the New England Patriots. Now that Joey Bosa is on the shelf, the Chargers will play the foreseeable future with their best pass rusher and their starting left tackle, their starting center; Not to mention, their best wide receiver, their top cover man and their quarterback Justin Herbert are also banged up. This season could get away from the Chargers pretty quickly. In New England, it's become pretty clear that we've reached a tipping point as it relates to Bill Belichick and his future with the club. Mac Jones looks to be average-at-best and the overall roster is pretty terrible. So why then is Belichick choosing to stick around? Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Tough Times for Tua, NFL Week 4 Best Bets + Professional sports bettor Rufus Peabody

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on Tua Tagovailoa's scary injury on Thursday Night Football. The Cincinnati Bengals won the game, but the result of the contest became secondary once we saw Tua taken off the field on a stretcher with a concussion. Things have not gone according to plan since Tua exploded on the scene at Alabama (hip and ankle injuries, former head coach Brian Flores mostly hating him, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross trying - and failing - to replace him on multiple occasions), so it's hard not to feel bad for him, especially after last night. Later, professional sports bettor and co-founder of Unabated Sports and Massey-Peabody Analytics swings by to discuss why it’s so important to shop around for the best number when betting on everything from futures to props, why is ranking system is so much higher on Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars than the general public seems to be, why it’s clear that Russell Wilson’s move to the Denver Broncos has been overvalued by the market, why you shouldn’t buy into the narrative that the Buffalo Bills can’t win close games, why he likes the Green Bay Packers to win big over the New England Patriots – but not that big, how his system differentiates from other sites like Pro Football Focus, and much more! Cowboys Have Something with Cooper Rush, Russell Westbrook the Sixth Man & More Kyrie Irving Foolishness

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) kick things off with a deep dive into the Dallas Cowboys' Monday Night Football victory over the New York Giants. Most of us left the Cowboys for dead once Dak Prescott went down in Week 1, but backup Cooper Rush has been an absolute revelation in his absence. Dallas has won two in a row with Rush under center and suddenly look like they could be a top-5 team in the NFC once Dak and Michael Gallup return to the lineup. Later, the guys share their thoughts on the latest scuttlebutt to come out of Los Angeles Lakers media day as Darvin Ham admitted publicly that Russell Westbrook won't have a guaranteed spot in the starting lineup. It's been pretty clear for months that the team would prefer to move on from Westbrook altogether and perhaps relegating him to the bench could be the first step towards accomplishing that goal. Finally, J-Mac and Rob G close the show with a deep dive into the latest nonsense to come out of Kyrie Irving's mouth. The Brooklyn Nets point guard actually said with a straight face that he sacrificed over $100 million by refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine before last season. The problem with that statement, however, is general manager Sean Marks said a few minutes later that no such ultimatum ever existed and multiple NBA salary cap experts have said that Kyrie actually stood to make over $50 million more by signing an extension after the season. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Fraudulent AFC West, Eagles Run the NFC & the Monday Night Football Best Bet

On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall analysis of all the biggest storylines to come out of Week 3 in the NFL. In the AFC, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs inexplicably lost on the road against the Indianapolis Colts, while Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills ran out of gas in their road loss to the Miami Dolphins. Neither fan base should be all that concerned about their respective teams, but the facts remain that the Chiefs special teams are still a disaster and the Bills can’t seem to win close games. Both teams will need to get those bugaboos under control. Speaking of the AFC, remember when we all thought the AFC West was supposed to be a Murderer’s Row? Not so fast, my friend. The Las Vegas Raiders are the only winless team in football (and head coach Josh McDaniels is already getting called into the principal’s office), Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers are the walking wounded, and Russell Wilson’s Denver Broncos might be one of the worst 2-1 teams we’ve ever seen. Moving over the NFC, J-Mac is already declaring the Philadelphia Eagles as the best team in the conference; have you seen what Jalen Hurts and that offense are doing to defenses these days? Just dominant. However, Rob G argues that Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be the last team standing in the NFC when it’s all said and done – and that’s with the Bucs only scoring 3 offensive touchdowns so far this season! Time will tell which man gets proven right. Finally, Jason closes the show with a very special Monday Night Football edition of the Best Bet. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre – Recap of Steelers/Browns on Thursday Night Football + Bet Online's Dave Mason + Best Bets for NFL Week 3 AND 1 NCAA Football Best Bet!

Jason begins with his recap of the boring and ugly Thursday Night Football game between the Steelers and the Browns. Weather was supposed to be a factor in the game, but with the crowd not having any energy, and game script feeling dull, the matchup just felt flat. Jason thinks the Steelers need to get Kenny Pickett in, but of course, Mike Tomlin in his press conference said he wasn’t in the headspace to make a switch so the answer is “definitively, no.” Bet Online’s Dave Mason joins Jason to discuss his experience with giving betting advice and how he handles consumers with their wins and losses, and shares his tips & tricks on how to read and understand sharp lines and what plays to make. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre – Palm Beach Post’s Joe Schad + NFL Week 3 Best Bet for Thursday Night Football's Steelers & Browns Game

On today’s episode, Jason begins with a quick mention of Thursday Night Football between the Steelers and Browns in a rivalry matchup. Minor news out from Chicago Bulls camp is that PG Lonzo Ball is having another procedure done on his left knee. This being the 3rd instance he’s having his knee cleaned up with many seeing Ball as a bust as a 2nd overall pick. Chicago has already paid Ball, but his continued absence leaves Zach LaVine and the Bulls stuck in a bad position. Palm Beach Post’s Joe Schad swings by and discusses the 2-0 Dolphins and previews their upcoming game against the seemingly immaculate Buffalo Bills. The Dolphins are now a fun team to cover and watch with Tua Tagovailoa and HC Mike McDaniel off to a fast start. Schad explains that McDaniel is a huge part of why Tua and the organization is doing well, and has really pumped up the surging QB. Schad suggests that McDaniel is able to connect so well with the team, the complete opposite of the Dolphins’ regime that preceded him. Jason and Joe preview the Dolphins’ matchup against the Bills and how Miami’s offense matches up against Buffalo’s stout defense. Schad thinks Tua and company have a decent shot, especially with some of the injuries on Buffalo’s end. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre-Latest NFL Teams Stocks, Lakers Puzzling Point Guard Situation & Much More!

On today's episode, Jason breaks down the difference between betting in the NBA compared to the NFL. He believes the Bills & Chiefs are the Tesla stock of the NFL through Week 2 of the 2022 season. He takes listeners through values of teams & his reasoning behind his theory. Jason was shocked to see that Tua Tagovailoa is now 20/1 MVP odds better than Tom Brady & Aaron Rodgers odds (both 25/1 odds). When breaking down the AFC North, he is still confident the Bengals will win the division after starting 0-2. Jason continues to remind his listeners to never doubt Aaron Rodgers as they are still 4th in the odds to win the Super Bowl this season. Concluding, Jason raises serious concern for LeBron James & the Los Angeles Lakers for this upcoming NBA season. The Laker will be relying on Russell Westbrook, Patrick Beverly and Dennis Schroder as of today… Jason is not convinced that this point guard depth will fit with LeBron, which will make it hard for the Lakers to go the distance. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Patrick Mahomes is Missing Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs Won But the Chargers are Better + Covers.com Senior Contest Strategist Adam Chernoff

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a deep dive into the Kansas City Chiefs' primetime victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. Patrick Mahomes didn't look like the best quarterback in the league for most of the night, but he did do just enough to get the win; Mahomes was clearly missing Tyreek Hill. The big picture point, however, is that the Los Angeles Chargers looked like the better team. Justin Herbert is a stud, the defense with Joey Bosa and Derwin James is loaded, and the offensive skill positions are electric. Had the Chargers not suffered injuries to their offensive line - and a pair of Mahomes interceptions weren't overturned - Los Angeles likely rolls in this game. Later, Covers.com Senior Contest Strategist Adam Chernoff swings by to discuss the pitfalls of allowing marquee media personalities (who aren’t pro bettors) tout picks, why he might be willing to lay the 10-points for San Francisco when they take on the Seattle Seahawks, why he’s more likely to bet the total than a side when the Denver Broncos take on the Houston Texans, why he’s expecting a big bounce back game for the Carolina Panthers against the New York Giants, which side makes the most sense in what should be an ugly game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New England Patriots, and much more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - LeBron and CP3 Sound Off on Sarver, Thursday Night Football Best Bets + Kansas City Chiefs radio sideline reporter Josh Klingler

On today’s episode, Jason kicks things off with a deep dive into the latest surrounding the Robert Sarver scandal. With LeBron James and Chris Paul publicly condemning the NBA’s response to his repeated workplace violations, the League may have no choice but to increase their punishment. Later, Kansas City Chiefs radio network sideline reporter Josh Klingler swings by to preview Thursday Night’s showdown between the Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers, why he feels as though teams ‘figured out’ the Kansas City offense last season and how the loss of Tyreek Hill actually helped them evolve, how the revamped offensive line matches up with the Chargers’ pass rush led by Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack, how much attention Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs pay attention to the hype surrounding Justin Herbert and the Chargers, how the Las Vegas Raiders and the Denver Broncos factored into the AFC West divisional chase, and much more! Aaron Judge Closing in On 61, Brett Favre is in Big Trouble + DraftKings host Mike Golic Jr.

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a quick note on Aaron Judge hitting his 56th and 57th home run of the season. Judge is rapidly closing in on Rogers Maris' famed 61-homer mark, and is now the heavy favorite to win the American League MVP award over Shohei Ohtani. Later, J-Mac goes in on Brett Favre in the wake of the bombshell report that the former Green Bay Packers quarterback and a Mississippi politician were redirecting money from welfare recipients to Favre's alma mater. It's an ugly story, but unfortunately given Favre's history, isn't all that surprising. Finally, DraftKings podcast host and NFL/College Football analyst Mike Golic Jr. swings by to discuss why it’s time to recalibrate expectations for Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame after the Fighting Irish fell to 0-2 on the season, the narrative that former Irish head coach Brian Kelly isn’t a culture fit at LSU, whether or not we can expect Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers offense to rebound after that week 1 clunker, why it’s important to give the revamped Cincinnati Bengals offensive line time to gel, and preview a handful of upcoming NFL Week 2 games including Chiefs vs Chargers, Ravens vs Dolphins, Broncos vs Texans, Bills vs Titans, and much more! Nathaniel Hackett Botched Russell Wilson's Return, NFL Injury Updates & the First NFL Head Coach to Get Fired

On today's episode, Jason opens things up by taking a verbal blowtorch to Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett in the wake of the Denver Broncos' stunning loss to the Seattle Seahawks. What should have been Russell Wilson's triumphant return to Seattle was marred by arguably the worst NFL head coaching debut in recent memory. Hackett's clock management on the final drive was atrocious, and he doubled-down on the bad decision making by inexplicably taking the ball out of Wilson's hands in the final seconds. Look, it's only Week 1 and the season is far from over, but given how tough the Broncos schedule gets, these are the kind of layup games that you can't afford to fumble away. On the flip side, shout out to the maligned Geno Smith for turning in easily his best performance as a pro in the victory. There's almost no way Smith can keep that level of play up and the good vibes in Seattle should fade pretty quickly but it was a night to remember nonetheless. Guess the only question after this debacle on Monday Night is whether or not Hackett becomes the odds-on favorite to become the first NFL head coach to get fired. Mike McCarthy was already on thin ice in Dallas and he just lost Dak Prescott and Matt Rhule has been a dumpster fire in Carolina so Hackett should be safe but you never really know these days. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Dark Day for Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys, Tough Sledding for Trey Lance & More NFL week 1 Reaction

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall reaction to all the biggest headlines to come out of Week 1 in the NFL. MVP candidates Aaron Rodgers and Joe Burrow absolutely stunk up the joint, but the biggest story to come out of Sunday's action has to be the unfortunate hand injury to Dak Prescott. The Dallas Cowboys looked like they were headed to mediocrity anyway what with a patchwork offensive line and a slew of unproven receiving options, but with Dak expected to miss at least a month this season could go sideways in a hurry. Jerry Jones should be on the phone with the San Francisco 49ers right now trying to get Jimmy Garoppolo to Dallas. Having said that, if you're Jimmy G, are you sure you want to leave San Francisco right now? Trey Lance looked like a guy who hasn't played much meaningful football in over two years in the Niners' ugly loss to the Chicago Bears. The San Francisco roster is Super Bowl-ready right now, and if Lance can't turn things around here in the new few weeks, it would make a ton of sense for them to elevate Jimmy G to the starting role again. In other NFL news, Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes looked as good as advertised; their battles in the AFC West moving forward should be legendary. On the flip side, Bill Belichick's New England Patriots continue to flounder without Tom Brady. Is it safe to say that The Hoodie has lost his fastball? Finally, Lamar Jackson may have sent the Baltimore Ravens a subtle hint about his future in the Ravens' win over the New York Jets. You should definitely keep an eye on Baltimore moving forward. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Rams Lay an Egg on Opening Night, NFL Week 1 Best Bets + Supercontest winner David Baker

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get the party started with a few thoughts on the Buffalo Bills' beatdown of the Los Angeles Rams on Opening Night. Josh Allen and the Bills looked as advertised, so the bigger story was how poorly the Rams played. Matthew Stafford threw a bunch of picks, Jalen Ramsey kept getting cooked and the offensive line couldn't block anyone. It's only Week 1 so it's too early to panic, but it did serve as a harsh reminder that Los Angeles needs their stars to play well every game in order to overcome the rest of their roster's shortcomings. Later, professional sports bettor and 2020 Supercontest winner David Baker swings by to discuss why he likes the Cincinnati Bengals this week both against the spread and in survivor against the Pittsburgh Steelers, why he’s high on the Indianapolis Colts as a season-long play, why he bet on the Philadelphia Eagles to win the NFC East so early in the offseason, why he’s more confident in Jameis Winston and the New Orleans Saints offense than most, why he believes Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos are easily the worst team in the AFC West – and conversely is very high on the Las Vegas Raiders, what makes the Minnesota Vikings a dark horse Super Bowl contender, and much more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Rams Lay an Egg on Opening Night, NFL Week 1 Best Bets + Supercontest winner David Baker

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get the party started by sharing a few thoughts on the Buffalo Bills' bludgeoning of the Los Angeles Rams on opening night. Josh Allen and the Bills were as advertised, but the big story here was how bad the Rams looked. Matthew Stafford couldn't stop turning the ball over, Jalen Ramsey kept getting cooked and the offensive line couldn't block anybody. It's only Week 1 so it's too early to hit the panic button, but it's clear Los Angeles has some serious problems. Trey Lance Isn't a Captain, TNF Rams-Bills Best Bets + Super Bowl champion D’Marco Farr

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on the San Francisco 49ers' decision not to name Trey Lance a team captain for the upcoming season. The Niners have hung Lance out to dry all offseason - most notably with the decision to keep Jimmy Garoppolo on the roster - so this decision shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Even still, the fact that San Francisco continues to mismanage their so-called 'quarterback of the future' is baffling. Later, Super Bowl champion and Los Angeles Rams radio sideline analyst D’Marco Farr swings by to discuss what it was like behind the scenes with the Greatest Show on Turf (Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, etc.), why this current Rams bunch will need their superstars – Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey – to step in and cover the holes on the rest of the roster, the overall importance of Cam Akers and the running game, how difficult it is to repeat as Super Bowl champions, what kind of problems Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills could present on Thursday Night, and much more! Chiefs Set to Crush the Cardinals? + 4 for 4 Football sports betting manager Connor Allen

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a quick nugget on the peculiar line movement involving this Sunday's showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Arizona Cardinals. When you get that much movement that quickly, it's clear that somebody knows something that the rest of the betting public just doesn't. Just something to file away as we move towards Sunday. Later, 4 for 4 Football sports betting manager Connor Allen swings by discuss his growth within the business, why it’s important for casual bettors to understand that it’s almost impossible to make a living strictly off gambling, why he has his eye on a few Allen Robinson and Cam Akers player props for the upcoming Thursday Night Football matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo Bills, how Trey Lance being the starter might impact future San Francisco 49ers lines, why bettors should look to pound the over during Minnesota Vikings games and pound the under during Chicago Bears games, and much more! Don't Bury DJ Uiagalelei Yet, Kudos to the College Football Playoff & Deshaun Watson Ruined the QB Market

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on Clemson's victory over Georgia Tech on Monday night. Embattled Tigers quarterback DJ Uiagalelei got off to a slow start (much to the delight of the Twitter Trolls) but got back on track later in the game as Clemson cruised. DJU might never develop into the top-5 pick J-Mac predicted he would be, but it's definitely way too soon to bury him. Later, Jason does a deep dive on the College Football Playoff committee's decision to expand the field from four teams to twelve as soon as the 2024 season. Curmudgeons like Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy maintains there aren't twelve championship-worthy teams every year, but J-Mac argues the mere fact that teams like Utah or Oregon (who both had their 2022 national championship hopes dashed in week one) could make a run to the title in the new format means it's the right idea. By expanding the field, the committee ensured that we'll have more meaningful games late in the college football season than ever before. Finally, our fearless leader closes the show by explaining how the fully-guaranteed deal the Cleveland Browns gave Deshaun Watson has essentially ruined the NFL quarterback market. Lamar Jackson is looking for a similar contract but it's been reported that Baltimore Ravens ownership will 'never' offer a deal like that. Having said that, would the Ravens really regret giving Jackson a fully-guaranteed deal knowing that three years from now that deal could viewed as a bargain? Since a lot of us will be conducting our fantasy football drafts this weekend, Jason did us all a favor by welcoming NBC Sports fantasy football analyst Matthew Berry in for a special Saturday conversation. During the interview, Berry discusses why he decided to make the move from ESPN to NBC, why he's so high on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and conversely so low on guys like New York Jets running back Breece Hall and Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery, why drafters would be wise not to avoid 'boring' names like Ezekiel Elliott, the importance of being flexible through trades/waivers rather than being married to the guys you drafted, a few of his favorite late-round sleepers, what we can expect from Tyreek Hill in his first season in Miami, how the Green Bay Packers offense might function without Davante Adams, and much more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Donovan Mitchell to the Cavs, Some Turbulence for Tom Brady & Week 1 College Football Best Bets

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a deep dive into the blockbuster trade that saw the Utah Jazz send All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers. It's really exciting to see middle class NBA teams like the Cavs (and the Atlanta Hawks before them) swings for the fences; Having this much high-end talent spread throughout the NBA makes the League so much deeper than in year's past. However, the reality is that while a foursome of Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen is still probably no better than 4th in the Eastern Conference next season. The one saving grace for Cavs fans though is Cleveland's roster is easily better than what LeBron James has cooking with the Los Angeles Lakers. Moving over to the NFL, it was reported on Thursday that Tom Brady is going through serious marital troubles over his decision to abruptly un-retire and return to the NFL. As any married man can tell you, Brady is a very tough spot having to choose between his job/passion and his family. Bucs fans have to be at least a little worried entering this upcoming season. College Football Playoff Expansion is Coming + VSiN host Mike Pritchard

On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing a quick thought on the report that expansion could be coming to the College Football Playoff. It's been clear for a few years now that four teams just isn't enough so this expansion to eight or twelve teams will be a sight for sore eyes; Football fans everywhere should rejoice at the mere thought of it. Later, former NFL wide receiver and VSiN host Mike ‘Pritch’ Pritchard host swings by discuss how he ended up playing his college ball at Colorado alongside Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, why Bieniemy still hasn’t landed the head coaching job in the NFL he’s coveted for some time, what it was like facing Deion Sanders every day in practice when they both played for the ‘Most Fun Team in NFL History’, why he believes Lamar Jackson is a good futures bet to win NFL MVP, why he’s higher on teams like the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers than most, why he’s picking the Buffalo Bills to win the Super Bowl, and much more! The Lakers Aren't a Top-10 Team & The Ringer's Kevin Clark

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few quick thoughts on the reports that 'sworn enemies' Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley have been in contact recently and that head coach Darvin Ham envisions the two playing on the court together this season. Wait, what?! If Westbrook is still on the roster on opening night, there is absolutely no way the Los Angeles Lakers can be viewed as a top-10 team in the NBA. The Ringer senior NFL writer Kevin Clark swings by to discuss the trials and tribulations of being an Orlando Magic fan, expectations for Matt LaFleur in his first season without Davante Adams in Green Bay, why he believes Aaron Rodgers cares too much about what other people think about him, Baker Mayfield’s words of warning for the Cleveland Browns in week 1, the San Francisco 49ers’ peculiar decision to keep Jimmy Garoppolo to backup Trey Lance, why he believes the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars could shock some teams this season, the chances that Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots fall flat on their faces, and much more! Jimmy G is Back in The Bay Because Niners Lack Confidence in Trey Lance

On today's episode, Jason blesses us with a deep dive into the San Francisco 49ers' peculiar decision to bring back Jimmy Garoppolo to serve as the backup quarterback to Trey Lance. All offseason we've been told that this is Lance's team and that Jimmy G would get dealt elsewhere, so it's natural to assume maybe the San Francisco brass isn't as sold on their second-year quarterback as they led us to believe. Now 49ers faithful might argue that all this move does is ensure that they have the best backup quarterback in the NFL, but any reasonable person can assume that this isn't exactly a vote of confidence in Lance. This narrative that San Francisco never released Jimmy G because they were worried about him coming back to bite them as a member of the Seattle Seahawks just doesn't hold water. What's more, we heard before the 2021 NFL Draft that Kyle Shanahan wanted Mac Jones until he was overruled by general manager John Lynch; Could you argue then that this is now the second time that the Niners have shown a lack of confidence in Lance? This move reeks of fear. Click here to subscribe, rate and review all of the latest Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre podcasts!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Backing Off Tom Brady and the Bucs, Trey Lance Could Be RG3 2.0 & the Truth About NBA Trade Rumors

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) kick things off by doing a deep dive into Tom Brady's mysterious training camp absence. Brady spoke about it for the first time over the weekend... and said a whole lot of nothing. Regardless what the exact reason was, it's clear this version of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is nothing like the one he won a Super Bowl with two years ago. In fact, J-Mac says he's officially pivoting to the New Orleans Saints to win the NFC South this year over Brady's Bucs. Later, the guys discuss Jason assertion that Trey Lance could have a Robert Griffin III-esque season this year with the San Francisco 49ers. RG3 burst on the scene as a rookie thanks in large part to a dominant running game which worked perfectly when paired with his own dynamic playmaking; Doesn't that sound exactly like what we expect to see from Lance this year in San Francisco? There's a reason why a handful of recent guests have pegged the Niners as a dark horse Super Bowl contender. Finally, Jason and Rob G close the show by discussing the notion that most NBA 'insiders' don't really know much at all when it comes to offseason movement. Not a single reporter had Rudy Gobert to Minnesota or Patrick Beverley to the Lakers before they actually happened. In fact, you can argue that the more frequently a trade rumor gets discussed the less likely it is to actually happen. Pat Bev to the Lakers + SI.com golf writer and author Bob Harig

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off a few thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers trade for Patrick Beverley. Does this trade set the stage for a Westbrook-to-Indiana trade for Buddy Hield and Myles Turner? Things are getting exciting here in August! Later, Sports Illustrated golf writer and author Bob Harig swings by to discuss the PGA Tour’s expanded compensation model and what it means for the sport moving forward, why LIV Golf deserves credit for inspiring this monetary change but also blame for creating a divide which makes it unlikely we’ll ever see all the best players compete regularly in the same tournaments, how Cameron Smith’s impending deflection to LIV might affect the next generation of golf stars, why this ongoing competition between the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf is great for the sport, and much more! Tom Brady is Back & Dark Horse NFL Division Winners

On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing a few thoughts on Tom Brady following his 2-week hiatus from Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp. Nobody knows exactly why he left the team, but most outsiders believe it was pre-planned as part of his return from retirement. Later, J-Mac does a unique thought exercise in which he picks dark horse winners for every division in the NFL. Anybody can pick the favorites but it takes a sharp gambler to tell you which underdogs can pay off big. Will the addition of Tyreek Hill and a re-tooled offensive line be enough for Tua Tagovailoa to get the Miami Dolphins back atop the AFC East? Is 2022 setting up to be a big bounce back season for Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens? Are Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars set up to become this year's team to go worst-to-first? Will the Denver Broncos or Los Angeles Chargers be able to end the Kansas City Chiefs' reign of terror in the AFC West? Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Big Weekend for the Boys, Lamar Jackson Needs the Ravens to Get Desperate & the Latest on Kyrie Irving

On today's episode, Jason and Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) kick things off by discussing the weekend that was in their personal lives. While Rob was swooning at a John Legend concert in Las Vegas, J-Mac was busy raining threes en route to a rec league championship; Safe to say both guys feel like winners this morning. Later, Jason and Rob go deep on the report that Lamar Jackson is seeking a fully guaranteed contract (a la Deshaun Watson) from the Baltimore Ravens. While both guys agree that Jackson should look to get all he can, neither one is optimistic that it's actually going to come to fruition. The Ravens have been far too successful for far too long to just bend over backwards like the Cleveland Browns did for Watson. If Jackson wants a fully-guaranteed deal, he's going to need Baltimore to get desperate. Finally, the guys close the show by sharing their thoughts on a slew of reports to come out surrounding Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving. While they all might seem contradictory of their face, Jason and Rob generally agree that they all seem to suggest that the mercurial point guard will get traded at some point before the season starts. NFL News and Notes, LeBron is Staying with the Lakers & Steph Curry's Place Among the Greats

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a quick whip around the NFL by sharing rapid fire thoughts on Joe Burrow's return from injury, the impending Deshaun Watson suspension settlement, and much more. Later, Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) swings by to help breakdown LeBron James’ decision to re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. The timing of it all leads to one obvious question: What does LeBron know that the rest of us don’t? Much of the offseason has focused on the uncertainty surrounding Russell Westbrook, so it’s safe to assume that LeBron only re-signed because he knows what’s next with Russ. Sticking in the NBA, J-Mac lets it be known that he agrees with Derek Fisher when he says that Steph Curry is on the same tier as all-time greats like Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal and Tim Duncan. Needless to say KD wasn't a fan of some of the things Jason said on yesterday's podcast. Later, J-Mac takes a verbal blowtorch towards Aaron Rodgers after the Green Bay Packers publicly called out his young wide receivers. This type of jerky behavior coming from Rodgers isn't all that shocking, but it is highly disappointing. Finally, longtime FOX Sports broadcaster Tim Brando swings by to discuss how he ultimately ended up at FOX, why he believes the PGA Tour and LIV Golf series can eventually co-exist, why he believes Utah – not USC – is the best team in the Pac-12 entering next season, why he's betting the over on both the LSU and Kansas win totals, why he has Baylor as a dark horse national championship contender, what makes Alabama and Ohio State the class of college football this upcoming season, why Texas has been seemingly stuck in a rut for the last few years, why he’s picking Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba – not quarterback CJ Stroud – to win the Heisman, and much more! Kevin Durant is a Man Without a Country

On today's episode, Jason brings us a deep dive into the psyche of Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant. Draymond Green got married over the weekend and it was a veritable who's who of NBA superstars. LeBron James, Steph Curry, Jayson Tatum, Klay Thompson and a slew of other players made an appearance at the event. In fact, almost every single dude who played for the Golden State Warriors during their dynastic run was in attendance... except Durant. It's entirely possible that KD was invited to the wedding and just couldn't make it due to a scheduling conflict. But, what if he was invited and simply chose not to attend? Better yet, if we were to say that Durant was excluded from the shindig altogether, would anybody be shocked? Since KD left the Oklahoma City Thunder, he's turned into a basketball vagabond with no real home. There isn't a single city or fanbase that has his back, and as far as we can tell he doesn't belong to any of the cliques that are so prevalent in today's NBA. On today's episode, Jason makes his triumphant return from his weeklong tropical vacation. First up on the docket? Major League Baseball's decision to suspend San Diego Padres superstar Fernando Tatis Jr 80 games for PED use. Tatis broke the rules, for sure, but it is notable that MLB seems to be the only American professional sport that seems to have no problem whatsoever coming down hard on their star players. Later, J-Mac and Producer Rob G do a deep dive into the uncertainty surrounding the New York Jets' quarterback position in the wake of Zach Wilson's knee injury. Wilson is expected to miss about 4 weeks, but Jason says now is the perfect time to make a trade for Jimmy Garoppolo. New York is desperate for relevance, and Jimmy G has the smile and talent to make the Jets respectable again. Rob argues that the addition of Garoppolo would put New York in a race towards mediocrity, but J-Mac says mediocrity would still be more preferable than being a dumpster fire. This really was one of the more unique debates the guys have had in some time. Finally, the guys close the show with a few thoughts on some of the hype coming out of week 1 of the NFL Preseason. Does any of it matter? Should we be excited or worried? Their answers may surprise you!
