Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Jets Land Aaron Rodgers, a Legendary Night for LeBron + NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein
On today’s episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on the blockbuster trade that sent Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. Our fearless leader has been lukewarm on the idea of adding Rodgers for months, but now that Rodgers is officially part of Gang Green, it’s hard not to see the upside. The Jets with Rodgers at the helm have a strong case for being the third best team in the AFC behind the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals. Later, J-Mac dives deep into LeBron's James virtuoso performance to help propel the Los Angeles Lakers to a 3-1 series lead over the Memphis Grizzlies. The King became the oldest player in NBA history to have a 20-20 game. He also had the game-tying bucket to force overtime, and the game-sealing basket in the extra frame. It was an all-time great performance by LeBron. Finally, NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein swings by to discuss why the Houston Texans picking at #2 hold the keys to the rest of the draft and how Trey Lance factors into it all, how agent representation could factor into where quarterbacks CJ Stroud and Will Levis get drafted, why the S2 score (in a good way for Bryce Young and in a bad way for Stroud) seems to carry so much weight around the NFL, how the trade of Rodgers to the Jets could impact the rest of the NFL Draft and much more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Still Worried About the Warriors, Bing Bong the Knicks are Back & Kawhi Leonard Trade Ideas
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get the party started by sharing their thoughts on the Golden State Warriors' Game 4 win over the Sacramento Kings. The series may be tied 2-2, but J-Mac believes Sacramento is still firmly in control of this series. Shifting over to the Eastern Conference, with the health of Giannis Antetokounmpo still up in the air, is it fair to say that the New York Knicks are a threat to make a run to the NBA Finals? They may not have as a high of a ceiling as the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers but one could argue that they have a higher floor. Sticking in the NBA, all this uncertainty surrounding Kawhi Leonard has Jason and Rob wondering if the Los Angeles Clippers would be better off just trying to trade the oft-injured star this offseason. The only problem, however, is which team is crazy enough to trade for a guy who misses more games than he plays? Finally, the guys close the show by explaining why they both believe that the Los Angeles Lakers will beat - and cover the spread against - the Memphis Grizzlies in Monday's Game 4. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Warriors' Winning Formula, Why You Can't Trust Kawhi & Trey Lance Trade Rumors
**Please excuse the audio issues throughout the first half of the podcast** On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) kick things off by sharing their thoughts on the Golden State Warriors' blowout win over the Sacramento Kings. With Draymond Green suspended, the Warriors went small around Steph Curry and still managed to dominate in the restricted area. Should Golden State stick with the small ball moving forward? Or, was this game just an anomaly given how poorly the Kings shot the ball offensively? Sticking in the Western Conference, the Phoenix Suns barely beat the Kawhi Leonard-less Los Angeles Clippers to take a 2-1 series lead. Even with their starters playing such a heavy load, the Suns should still have enough firepower to get through this series. On the flip side, if you're a Clippers fan, how confident can you feel moving forward with Kawhi as your franchise player? Is it officially time to cut bait from the oft-injured superstar? In the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia 76ers win over the Brooklyn Nets was marred by absolutely horrid officiating that saw James Harden get ejected for punching a guy in the groin, Joel Embiid allowed to play after kicking a different guy in the groin and Nic Claxton booted for staring down Embiid after a dunk. Absolutely ridiculous. Later, J-Mac closes the show with a deep dive into the reports that the San Francisco 49ers are fielding calls on quarterback Trey Lance. Lance hasn’t done much in his brief NFL career, but with incumbent starter Brock Purdy coming off elbow surgery, are we sure trading Lance is the best idea? Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Lakers Got Punked, KAT Ain't That Guy & the Warriors Are on the Brink
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing a few thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers' disappointing Game 2 loss against the Memphis Grizzlies. With Ja Morant sidelined, this should have been an easy win for LA. Instead, Memphis punked the Lakers inside - Anthony Davis, specifically - and evened the series up 1-1. In other NBA Playoffs action, the Milwaukee Bucks proved once again that they're still a formidable foe even without Giannis Antetokounmpo in their blowout win over the Miami Heat, while Karl-Anthony Towns reminded us once again that he's just not cut out to be a #1 option on a good team in Minnesota's Game 2 loss to the Denver Nuggets; the more things change, the more they stay the same. Finally, J-Mac closes the show with Best Bet for tonight's Game 3 between the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Draymond Deserved That Suspension, the Last Days of the Warriors Dynasty & the Unimpressive Phoenix Suns
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) share their thoughts on the NBA's decision to suspend Draymond Green one game for stomping on the chest of Domantas Sabonis in Game 2. Green's history of unsportsmanlike behavior absolutely played a role in the decision - and for good reason; The NBA had to take a stand. The only question now becomes whether or not this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back and leads to Golden State parting ways with Green after the season. Later, the guys hit us with their rapid fire reaction to all of the NBA's Tuesday night playoff action. Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns evened things up with the Los Angeles Clippers, but they didn't look very impressive in the process. In fact, J-Mac and Rob G actually have more questions about Phoenix now than ever before. In the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics reminded us once again why the guys both picked them to win the NBA championship, while the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks appear destined to play a long series. Finally, the guys close the show by sharing their Best Bets for Wednesday's NBA Playoffs. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Draymond Stomp Game & What Jalen Hurts' Deal Means for Lamar Jackson
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on the Sacramento Kings' Game 2 win over the Golden State Warriors. Sacramento going up 2-0 would've been the headline were in not for Draymond Green's inexplicable chest stomp of Domantas Sabonis. Green should be suspended for Game 3. The Warriors have appeared overmatched through the first two games - both offensively and defensively - and if they don't turn things around back in Golden State they won't make it to the second round. Later, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) checks in to help break down Jalen Hurts' massive contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles. The deal is a clear win for Hurts and only time will tell if it's a win for the Eagles, too. With Hurts signing his mega deal, all eyes now focus on Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. It's become abundantly clear that Jackson won't be getting that $250 million fully-guaranteed deal he's been seeking, but maybe he can get $180 million or so in a shorter-term deal from Baltimore; That seems to be the best compromise for all parties involved. Finally, the guys close the show by giving their Best Bets for the Tuesday night NBA postseason action. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Other Guys Shine for the Lakers, Russell Westbrook's Great and Terrible Night & Some Worry About the Warriors
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) kick things off with a deep dive into the Los Angeles Lakers' Game 1 victory in Memphis over the Grizzlies. LeBron James was good and Anthony Davis was dominant, but this game was won by 'the others': Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves. Given how deep this Lakers team is - and the uncertainty surrounding the hand injury to Ja Morant - it's hard to see a scenario where LA doesn't advance to round two. Speaking of Los Angeles, shout out to Russell Westbrook for doing all the little things to help the Clippers steal Game 1 against the Phoenix Suns. Russ didn't let a poor shooting night negatively impact the rest of his game as he made play after play in the final minutes. Let's just hope that viral video of him getting into a verbal altercation with a fan after the game doesn't wind up being the bigger story on Monday. Finally, the guys close the show by previewing tonight's Game 2 between the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors. De'Aaron Fox may have put on a show for Sacramento in Game 1, but it's not like Steph Curry and the Dubs played poorly either - and that's exactly why the Warriors should be concerned heading into tonight's action. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - DC Needs Lamar Jackson, CJ McCollum's Shot at Zion & Predictions for the NBA Playoffs
On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get the party started by explaining why the new owners of the Washington Commanders need to make an immediate splash and trade for Lamar Jackson. The Phoenix Suns had the right idea when they traded for Kevin Durant less than a week after the new ownership group took over, and the Commanders would be wise to follow suit. Later, the guys share their thoughts on CJ McCollum's veiled shots at Zion Williamson following the New Orleans Pelicans' season-ending loss to Oklahoma City. Rob argues that McCollum's comments indicate that the Pelicans are fed up with the oft-injured Williamson, while J-Mac believes CJ only said what he said because he's looking for a way out of New Orleans himself. Finally, Jason and Rob close the show by making their official predictions for the 2023 NBA Playoffs. Are Kevin Durant's Phoenix Suns the team to beat out West? Will the Boston Celtics be back in the NBA Finals for a second straight season? Are LeBron James' Los Angeles Lakers a legitimate threat? Can Giannis Antetokounmpo carry the Milwaukee Bucks to another championship? The guys have the answers to all those questions - and more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - A Zach LaVine Appreciation Pod + 247Sports journalist Cameron Salerno
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on the Chicago Bulls play-in victory over the Toronto Raptors. J-Mac has always been a big fan of Zach LaVine's game so to see him dominate on that stage was truly gratifying. Vindication for the LaVine Fan Club! In the Western Conference play-in, Oklahoma City guard Josh Giddey had his coming out party in the Thunder's win over the New Orleans Pelicans. We already knew Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was a stud, but if Giddey can continue on this upward trajectory, OKC's 'backcourt of the future' could be downright dangerous way sooner than expected. Later, 247Sports journalist Cameron Salerno swings by to preview the Western Conference Playoffs showdown between the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors and discuss why he expects Game 1 in Sacramento to be one of the rowdiest playoff environments the Warriors have ever played in, how the Domantas Sabnonis-Tyrese Haliburton trade reshaped the Kings, the evolution of De'Aaron Fox, how the Kings plans to slow down Steph Curry and much more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Dangerous Lakers, Trae Young's Uncertain Future & All-NBA Debates
On today’s episode, Jason gets the party started by recapping the Los Angeles Lakers’ wild – and ugly – play-in win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. LeBron James and Anthony Davis were good-not-great but backup point guard Dennis Schroder was the difference in this one. That’s part of what makes this Lakers team so dangerous; You never know which of the ‘other guys’ will pop on a night-to-night basis. Later, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) joins the show to discuss the reports that the Atlanta Hawks would consider trading superstar point guard Trae Young this offseason. Atlanta may have beaten the Miami Heat in their play-in game but it’s fair to say they’ve underwhelmed the past two seasons. How much of that is on Trae? How much of that is on the Hawks front office? Sticking in the NBA, the guys go at it for a few minutes debating which stars are most deserving of an All-NBA nod. Should Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid both make First Team given that they're both centers? Will the Dallas Mavericks missing the play-in keep Luka Doncic off the three teams altogether? Finally, J-Mac closes the show with his Best Bets for the Wednesday night NBA Play-In games featuring the New Orleans Pelicans, Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors Click here to subscribe, rate and review all of the latest Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre podcasts! #Volume #HerdSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Suns Will Sweep the Clippers, Damian Lillard Trade Scenarios & NBA Play-In Best Bets
On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get the party started with a preview of the Western Conference Playoffs first round matchup between the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers. Our fearless leader says that Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Co. will sweep the Clippers, while Rob G argues that Russell Westbrook will thoroughly outplay Chris Paul before Phoenix ultimately prevails in six games. Later, the guys share their thoughts on Damian Lillard’s public cries for help coming out of Portland. It’s been clear for years that the Trail Blazers best route out of NBA purgatory would be to trade Dame. Could that actually come to fruition this summer? If so, which teams make the most sense as Lillard’s next landing spot? Finally, J-Mac closes the show with his Best Bets for the Tuesday night NBA Play-In games featuring the Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks, Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - In Defense of Rudy Gobert, What's Next for Luka Doncic & OBJ to the Ravens
On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) gets things started with a deep dive into the viral sideline skirmish between Minnesota Timberwolves teammates Rudy Gobert and Kyle Anderson. With Anthony Davis and LeBron James looming in the play-in game on Tuesday, the T'Wolves absolutely cannot afford to suspend Gobert. Moreover, given what Minnesota has already invested in Gobert, they have no choice but to publicly back him. Later, the guys share their thoughts on the tumultuous weekend that was for Luka Doncic and the Mavericks. Now that Dallas has officially been eliminated from playoff contention, all eyes turn to the upcoming offseason and Kyrie Irving's looming free agency. Outside of re-signing Kyrie to a fully-guaranteed max contract (which nobody feels great about), Mark Cuban and the Mavs have limited avenues to actually improve the roster around Luka. Finally, J-Mac and Rob G close the show by discussing Odell Beckham Jr's decision to sign a one-year, $15 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens. If the arrival of OBJ means that Lamar Jackson will re-sign as well, then the move makes a ton of sense for Baltimore. If it doesn't, then the Ravens could come to regret this one. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Caitlin Clark Can't See Angel Reese, Where AD Ranks in the West & the Ugly Truth About Luka
On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) gets things started by waxing poetically on LSU’s win over Iowa in the NCAA Tournament Women’s National Championship game. The only problem, however, was that much of the conversation after the game focused on Angel Reese’s taunt of Caitlin Clark in the final seconds. The whole thing reeks of faux outrage. What’s more, the mere fact that this even became ‘a thing’ proves that women’s college basketball is on an upward trajectory. Later, the guys share their thoughts on the wild Western Conference playoff race and get into a mini debate over where Anthony Davis ranks amongst the best players in the West. J-Mac and Rob G follow that up by discussing the Dallas Mavericks’ fall from grace and wonder aloud whether this season has proven that you can’t win a championship playing Luka Doncic’s ball-dominant style of basketball. Finally, the guys close the show by sharing their Best Bets for tonight’s NCAA Men’s National Championship game between UCONN and San Diego State. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre: Final Four Best Bets + Former NY Jets scout Daniel Kelly
On today’s episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing his Best Bets for this weekend’s upcoming Final Four action. Later, former New York Jets scout and author Daniel Kelly swings by to discuss why he wasn’t surprised to see Zach Wilson flame out in New York, why he still isn’t fully sold on Trevor Lawrence as a franchise quarterback, why he isn’t overly concerned about Bryce Young’s diminutive stature, what he likes most about CJ Stroud, why he believes Anthony Richardson will be a bust if a team takes him in the first round, which under the radar quarterbacks could thrive at the next level, why he hates the idea of Aaron Rodgers getting traded to the Jets and much more! The Wild, Wild NBA Western Conference + College Basketball on FOX broadcaster John Fanta
On today’s episode, Jason gets the party started by recapping a wild Wednesday night in the Association. The NBA Western Conference is so jumbled that every single night feels like a must-win for teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves. Later, College Basketball on FOX broadcaster and reporter John Fanta swings by to discuss his incredible rise up the ranks in the world of sports broadcasting, what makes the UCONN Huskies such a heavy favorite to cut down the nets this year, Miami (FL)’s chances of upsetting UCONN in the Final Four, why he expects San Diego State vs Florida Atlantic will come down to the wire, how NIL and the transfer portal have reshaped college basketball as we know it, which big name players could potentially enter the transfer portal this offseason and much more! Kudos to Andre Drummond, Bradley Beal's Bad Beat & Hendon Hooker's NFL Outlook
On today's episode, Jason gets things started by throwing heavy praise at Chicago Bulls big man Andre Drummond with the mental health issues he's been dealing with stemming from abusive comments he's been receiving on social media. It takes a big man to go public with something so personal. Brave, Andre. Later, J-Mac does a deep dive into the latest scuttlebutt surrounding Bradley Beal and the battery charges he's facing for slapping an unruly fan after some guy cursed at him over a failed sports wager. This whole thing is ridiculous. Granted, Beal should know better than to put hands on a fan, but the guy who instigated the whole thing sounds like such a jabroni. Switching gears to the NFL, Jason takes the League to task a bit for approving a plan to allow teams to play multiple Thursday Night games throughout the season. Not only does it fly in the place of player safety but it also almost ensures that sports dads like J-Mac will never get another 'freebie' Thursday Night off during football season. Finally, our fearless leader closes the show by discussing the NFL potential of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker. Hooker will be one of the oldest rookies in his class, but that could work both for and against him at the next level. Where Hooker ultimately ends up will be critical for his career long-term. Embiid Should Stop Talking About the MVP & Lamar Jackson's Leaked Trade Request
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on Joel Embiid's decision to speak out yet again on his NBA MVP candidacy. It's odd that the Sixers big man has been so vocal about the award given that he's never even led a team out of the second round of the NBA Playoffs. Embiid should focus on winning playoff games, not MVPs. Later, our fearless leader takes Lamar Jackson to task a bit for trying to launch his new clothing brand on a janky new website. This just feels like a big time waste of time and energy. Speaking of Lamar, the Ravens quarterback publicly requested a trade out of Baltimore on Monday. The only problem is it's really hard to find a trade partner right now given what his asking price would be both in terms of draft assets to Baltimore and contract extension to Jackson. What makes the whole ordeal even more confusing is the teams that make the most sense (Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets) have publicly stated that they're not all that interested in making a move on Lamar. Finally, J-Mac reiterates once again why he's having a very hard time getting too hyped up about this weekend's NCAA Tournament Final Four. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - A F---ing Ugly Final Four & Kyrie is Detonating Dallas from the Inside
On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get things started by sharing their thoughts on the NCAA Tournament. We saw a lot of bad basketball – and bad officiating – over the weekend, and now we’re stuck with arguably the most unsexy Final Four in college basketball history. No disrespect to San Diego State, Miami, UCONN and Florida Atlantic but not having a single blue blood in the mix is just bad for the sport moving forward. Shifting gears to the NBA, even with LeBron James making his return to the floor, the biggest story has to be what’s going on with the Dallas Mavericks. The Kyrie Irving-Luka Doncic pairing has been an abject failure. Unsurprisingly, J-Mac lays the blame squarely at Kyrie’s feet. Rob, on the other hand, believes Luka deserves just as much – if not more – blame as Irving. Either way, how this season ends will go a long way in determining whether or not this duo stays together for years to come. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Drew Timme Dominates, Another Brutal Loss for the UCLA Bruins & Markquis Nowell is The Man
On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall reaction to wild night one of the Sweet Sixteen. Drew Timme was unstoppable as Gonzaga came back from a 13-point halftime deficit - and almost gagged it back at the end - to hand UCLA yet another crushing NCAA Tournament loss. The Bruins will have nightmares about that Julian Strawther 3-point for a long, long time. The only question for UCLA now becomes whether or not super seniors Tyger Campbell and Jaime Jaquez are going to come back for their fifth years. In the East Region, Kansas State's diminutive point guard Markquis Nowell put on a legendary performance (20 points, 19 assists and 5 steals) leading the Wildcats to a thrilling overtime win over Michigan State; the kid was absolutely electric. Interestingly enough, none of Thursday's biggest stars (Timme, Jaquez or Nowell) project to be anything more than fringe NBA players, but maybe that's partly why this year's Tournament has been so fascinating? Finally, the guys close the show by making their official picks for the Sweet Sixteen Friday slate. The Jets are Ready to Fly, How Paul George's Injury Impacts the West + NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah
On today’s episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing his thoughts on the New York Jets overhauled wide receiver room in preparation for their potential trade for Aaron Rodgers. Switching gears to the NBA, the knee injury to Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George is absolutely devastating. If you thought the Western Conference playoff race was crazy before, just wait and see how this PG injury shakes things up. Later, NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah swings by to discuss the long-rumored trade that would send Rodgers to the Jets, why he’s high on Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker as an NFL prospect, why Florida’s Anthony Richardson could be the biggest boom-or-bust prospect in the NFL Draft, why he hanks Bryce Young over CJ Stroud and much more! Lamar Jackson Needs an Agent + Former NBA All-Star Larry Johnson
On today’s episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on the report that Lamar Jackson’s representatives are speaking with other teams - and he isn’t looking for a fully guaranteed deal. The fact that Jackson still can’t get a team to bite could be attributed to him not having an agent to represent him. How else do you explain a guy like Daniel Jones getting locked up long-term before Jackson? Finally, former NBA All-Star and UNLV legend Larry Johnson swings by to discuss his legendary Runnin’ Rebels teams of the early 90s, the biggest difference between the UNLV that won the championship and the one that got upset in the Final Four, what he doesn’t like about the style of play in today’s NBA, why he believes New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson is the current player who most reminds him of himself and much more! Rough Night for Lakers Fans, the Ugly Truth About Cam Newton + FS1 College Basketball analyst Casey Jacobsen
On today’s episode, Jason gets the party started by recapping a wild Monday in the NBA. Long story short, it was a really rough night for fans of the Los Angeles Lakers. Plus, J-Mac shares a quick thought on Cam Newton’s attempted NFL comeback. Between injuries and age, it’s clear that Newton should no longer be viewed as a viable starting quarterback in the NFL. Later, FS1 college basketball analyst Casey Jacobsen swings by to discuss the newfound parity in the sport, why he believes Creighton has what it takes to upend Alabama down the road and come out of the South Region, the Big East’s representation in the Sweet Sixteen, how Gonzaga matches up with UCLA in what many consider to be this week’s marquee matchup, how Purdue’s shocking first round loss to 16-seed Farleigh Dickinson could impact Matt Painter’s future with the program, his own NCAA Tournament experiences and much more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre – Drew Timme’s NBA Future, Brandon Miller vs Scoot Henderson & Bronny’s Big Decision
On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get things started by recapping the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. Top seeds Alabama and Houston still look like the cream of the crop, but if Drew Timme keeps dominating the way he has been then maybe it’s time to throw Gonzaga in the mix as well. Timme is one of the best college players we’ve seen in a decade. However, given his overall lack of prototypical size and athleticism, it’s hard to see exactly how his game translates to the NBA. Alabama superstar Brandon Miller, on the other hand, has a game that seems built for the NBA but he’s struggled mightily in the tournament. Are his issues strictly health-related or is that infamous murder investigation finally starting to get to him? Finally, J-Mac and Rob close the show by sharing their thoughts on Bronny James’ looming decision whether to go to college next year or go pro in a place like the G-League or Overtime Elite. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre – Day 1 of March Madness, the New-Look Las Vegas Raiders & the Soft Markets for Austin Ekeler and Lamar Jackson
On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get things started by recapping day 1 of the NCAA Tournament. Outside of perpetual disappointments Virginia and Arizona going down in the afternoon, it really was a rather uneventful day. However, the Round of 32 games on Saturday are looking extra spicy as two #1 seeds (Houston and Kansas) could be on upset alert. Later, the guys dive deep into the week that was for the Las Vegas Raiders. Rob G – a noted Raiders fan – isn’t feeling the acquisition of Jimmy Garoppolo or the trade of Darren Waller, while J-Mac is cautiously optimistic that Josh McDaniels can turn things around in year two if they can hit on their draft picks. Finally, the guys close the show by discussing relatively soft trade markets for Austin Ekeler and Lamar Jackson. Both guys are All-Pro caliber players… so why hasn’t anyone made an offer? At Least One Jets Fan Doesn't Want Aaron Rodgers + Action Network senior editor Thomas Casale
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by explaining why he hates the idea of Aaron Rodgers joining his beloved New York Jets. When Rodgers said he 'intends' to join the Jets he was essentially trying to put pressure on the Green Bay Packers to get a deal done sooner or later. Both sides are dug in at the negotiating table so this could take all offseason to get finalized. Later, Action Network senior editor Thomas Casale swings by to preview the NCAA Tournament and explain why Alabama may have the easiest path to the Final Four of any top seed, the Kansas Jayhawks’ chances of repeating as national champions, why some very knowledgeable people are big believers in North Carolina and Arizona, why he sees the logic in bettors who are fading Purdue, why he expects several Big 12 teams to advance out of the first round, which Cinderella teams have a chance to make a deep tournament run, why there’s more value in betting in bracket pools than betting game-to-game, round-to-round and much more! Nobody Seems to Want Aaron Rodgers & Why It's Hard to Love Any of these QBs in the NFL Draft
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on the latest developments in the ongoing Aaron Rodgers soap opera coming out of Green Bay. The latest comments from the Packers general manager seem to suggest that the team is ready to move on from their mercurial quarterback... but does anyone else really want him? If you canvas the rest of the NFL it starts to become abundantly clear that there just aren't very many landing spots for Rodgers. Later, our fearless leader does a quick preview of the upcoming NFL Draft. As is usually the case, much of the conversation is focused on the quarterbacks (Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson and Will Levis), but J-Mac isn't in love with any one of them. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder in this one. Finally, Jason closes the show with a quick whip around the NBA. Did you see that the Luka Doncic-Kyrie Irving combo lost again? Or that the Giannis-led Milwaukee Bucks won their 15th straight? Things are getting spicy in the Association! LeBron's Lakers are Cursed + Former NFL Executive Greg Gabriel
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on the reports that LeBron James will several weeks with a foot injury. The Los Angeles Lakers have been cursed since they won that 2020 Bubble NBA Championship. With LeBron sidelined, all signs point to this team missing the postseason altogether for the third time in James' five seasons with the club. Ouch! Later, former NFL scout and Chicago Bears executive Greg Gabriel swings by to discuss the importance of the upcoming NFL Draft combine, the Bears’ decision whether to take a quarterback like Bryce Young with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft or trade down for additional assets, how a rebuild around incumbent starter Justin Fields might work for Chicago, the inexact science that is college quarterback scouting, what it might cost teams like the Houston Texans or Indianapolis Colts to trade up to #1 overall and much more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre – Keep an Eye on Joel Embiid, An Unbelievable Russell Wilson Story & Damian Lillard Drops 71
On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get the party started by with a lengthy conversation on two of the biggest storylines from the weekend that was in the NBA. The new-look Los Angeles Lakers came back from 27 points down to stun Luka Doncic and the Mavericks in Dallas. Is it time to start taking them seriously in the Western Conference? Or did this game say more about the Mavericks’ shortcomings than anything LeBron James and Co. did. In the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia 76ers came up short against Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics on Friday night. The loss isn’t all that surprising… until you consider the rumblings that James Harden is seriously considering a return to Houston after the season. If the Sixers flame out of the postseason yet again, and Harden does in fact end up leaving, would they blow it up and ship superstar big man Joel Embiid out of town as well? Later, J-Mac goes solo to explain why he doesn't believe Friday's report that Russell Wilson tried to get Pete Carroll and John Schneider fired when the trio were all together in Seattle; Any objective person can tell that's just not in Wilson's character. Finally, our fearless leader closes the show by paying homage to Damian Lillard for dropping 71 points in Portland's win over the Rockets. We've always been big fans of his. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - ChatGPT Weighs in on Jordan vs. LeBron + Professional sports bettor T.A.
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing a wild experience he had recently with the artificial intelligence chatbot that's sweeping the nation: ChatGPT. Things started out innocent enough until our fearless leader decided to ask the one question that's guaranteed to rile up any real sports fan - "Who is the greatest player of all-time: LeBron James of Michael Jordan?" The answer may surprise you! Later, professional sports bettor TA swings by to discuss why last weekend's Super Bowl didn't go so well for him from a wagering perspective, why the Chicago Bears have to be considering moving off of Justin Fields and taking a quarterback #1 overall in the upcoming NFL Draft, whether or not the Baltimore Ravens are ready to commit to Lamar Jackson long-term, the Cleveland Browns' outlook with Deshaun Watson entrenched as the team's starter, how the Philadelphia Eagles plan to build around Jalen Hurts, why he expects the Las Vegas Raiders to bounce back in a big way next season and much more! Did Kevin Durant Spark a Rift Between LeBron James and Anthony Davis?
On today's episode, Jason gets things started by telling America why they need to come to grips with the fact that Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets are the best team in the Western Conference right now. Barring injury, the West runs through the Mile High City. Later, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) checks in to help make sense of the odd week that was for Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis. AD was in a bit of an emotional funk last week and the guys are starting to believe that it all stems from his name being involved in trade talks ahead of the deadline. Is it possible that LeBron James tried to flip him to Brooklyn for KD? If so, did the Nets make a mistake taking the Mikal Bridges plus picks package from the Phoenix Suns over a deal centered around the oft-injured Lakers superstar? Either way, it seems likely that if this Lakers team ends up missing the postseason altogether then Davis will get dealt in the offseason… perhaps even for Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard. The Real Reason Kevin Durant Left Brooklyn, Derek Carr's Next Team & Lamar Jackson's Murky Future in Baltimore
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing the inside scoop on why Kevin Durant really demanded a trade out of Brooklyn. As J-Mac tells it, once Kyrie Irving was dealt, KD decided there was no way he was going to be stuck in Brooklyn with Ben Simmons as his main sidekick. Simmons has seen his play fall of a cliff the past few years so it makes sense why Durant would prefer a change of scenery. Later, Jason discusses how Derek Carr's character and upbringing will play in a big role in how he chooses his next team. Unlike most free agent quarterbacks Carr won't simply take his talents to the highest bidder; He's going to choose a team with a strong foundation and a culture he believes in. Finally, our fearless leader closes the show by sharing a quick thought on the Baltimore Ravens' decision to hire former University of Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken to call plays. It's highly unlikely that Lamar Jackson will get the fully-guaranteed deal he's been looking for which means it's also likely that he might not be long for the Ravens after all. Keep Aaron Rodgers Away from the Jets, Eric Bieniemy's Uncertain Future & Are Stafford and McVay Headed for a Breakup?
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on Aaron Rodgers ahead of his darkness retreat. Rodgers has shown time and again that he marches to the beat of his own drum - and this situation is no different. It's hard to trust a guy like that, and it's precisely why J-Mac wants him nowhere near his beloved New York Jets. Later, our fearless leader opens up a whole can of worms by going public with his report that Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay could be headed for a breakup. According to sources, Stafford is believed to be unhappy about the current direction of the franchise, and things became even more contentious when the team asked him to take a pay cut after their season ended. It's entirely possible that the two sides are able to work something out to keep everyone happy but the fact is that things aren't exactly copacetic in Los Angeles at the moment. Finally, Jason closes the show by sharing his thoughts on the reports that Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy may have to leave the club to take another OC job if he ever wants to be seriously considered for a head coaching gig in the future. The Andy Reid coaching tree is littered with guys who left, failed and eventually returned, but the fact that Bieniemy can't even get a real look elsewhere is baffling. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Super Bowl reaction: The Refs Robbed Us, More Mahomes Magic, Andy Reid's Legacy & Jalen Hurts is Officially Elite
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall reaction to the Kansas City Chiefs' win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. It was one of the greatest Super Bowl we've seen played in years... until the final minute. The controversial defensive holding penalty on James Bradberry with under two minutes to play basically sealed the win for the Chiefs. The guys agree that it was the right call, but there is some disagreement as to whether or not the flag should have been thrown in that situation; the officials robbed us of what should have been an all-time great finish. As for the game itself, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles put on an offensive clinic for most of the contest. Hurts made big play after big play - and more importantly, keep the high-flying Chiefs offense off the field. After what we saw last night, there's no doubt that Hurts should be viewed as a top-5 quarterback in the NFL entering next season. However, when the Chiefs did get the ball, Patrick Mahomes was magic as usual. He was almost perfect in the second half and engineered four consecutive scoring drives to steal the win from Philly. With this win, Mahomes sits comfortably at the top of the sports world. What's more, with the win, Andy Reid has cemented himself as an all-time great coach in NFL history; His legacy is confirmed. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Super Bowl Preview + Professional sports bettor Preston Johnson
On today’s episode, Jason opens the show by previewing the upcoming Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. This is one of those games where the betting leans for both sides have becoming more and more obvious as the days go on. Two weeks ago, we all tried to project certain scenarios and injuries as a way to gain an edge on the rest of the betting public. Now? Things are pretty cut and dry. There doesn’t seem to be much of an edge anywhere for anyone. Later, Professional sports bettor Preston Johnson swings by to discuss why he believes the Eagles defense is being overrated a bit, why it’s so important to shop around for the best price – especially when you’re trying to bet props, why some bettors prefer to bet player props that go against their overall lean on the game itself and much more! Finally, J-Mac closes the show by sharing his Best Bets for the Super Bowl. Kevin Durant Doesn't Make the Suns the Favorites, What's Next for the Nets & the Lakers are Still a Sinking Ship
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) hit us with an instant reaction podcast to the blockbuster trade that saw the Brooklyn Nets send Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns for Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson and a boatload of first round picks. The guys agree the move instantly puts the Suns back into NBA championship contention, but disagree on whether or not it makes Phoenix the favorites in the Western Conference. Devin Booker - like Durant - will be coming off a serious injury and Chris Paul has been looking rather washed recently. On the flip side, after trading away both KD and Kyrie Irving in less than a week, it's hard to figure out what the Nets' plan is moving forward. They have a glut of forwards and a treasure trove of draft picks, but no real franchise cornerstone players to build around. Something tells us Brooklyn will continue to be active on the trade market in the hours leading up to the trade deadline. Finally, J-Mac and Rob G close the show by sharing their thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers' decision to trade Russell Westbrook for D'Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt. This move makes the Lakers better but not so much where you'd consider them to be legitimate contenders in the West... even less so now that KD is in Phoenix. By trading Westbrook the Lakers essentially just rearranged the deck chairs on the Titanic. **Apologies for the audio quality on today's podcast. LeBron Makes History in Another Lakers Loss + FS1 NBA analyst Ric Bucher
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on LeBron James officially becoming the NBA's all-time scoring leader. LeBron has been McIntyre's GOAT for years and this record-setting performance only cements the fact. The only problem, however, is that LeBron's milestone moment came in yet another loss against a team they have to leapfrog just to make the NBA playoffs. It's getting harder and harder to truly appreciate what James is doing when the team is this bad. As far as the record goes, it's highly unlikely that anyone will ever break it again, so at least they've got that going for them. Later, FS1 NBA analyst Ric Bucher swings by to discuss how Kyrie Irving might fit alongside Luka Doncic in Dallas, why the Toronto Raptors seem to be holding all the cards right now heading into the NBA Trade Deadline, whether or not the Golden State Warriors should consider trading away some of their young assets in a last-ditch effort to keep their championship hopes alive, if we can expect an All-Star level player like Zach LaVine or Pascal Siakam to be moved in the next 24 hours and much more! Super Bowl Prop Bets, the Dangerous Dallas Mavericks & Debating LeBron's Leadership Style
On today's episode, Jason gets Super Week started by revealing a few of his favorite Super Bowl prop bets. You don't have to fire on the Philadelphia Eagles or Kansas City Chiefs this early in the week if you don't love a side; it's totally acceptable to nibble on a few props. Not only are they fun to bet on but you can make a decent amount of money in the process. Then, J-Mac share a quick thought on the Dallas Mavericks' impressive victory over the Utah Jazz. Luka Doncic is still down with injury and Kyrie Irving hasn't joined the squad just yet, but the 'other' guys put on quite a show. If Kyrie can stay on the straight and narrow, Dallas can be very dangerous moving forward. Later, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) swings by live from Radio Row in Phoenix to debate our fearless leader on LeBron James' leadership style in the wake of the failed Kyrie Irving trade. LeBron spent all weekend posting passive aggressive tweets and then doubled-down on Monday admitting that he was 'disappointed' the deal never got made... only to add :30 later that he thinks this current Los Angeles Lakers team can win an NBA championship as constructed. Wait, what?! One of the guys says he's disappointed that LeBron won't be honest about how he really feels while the other argues that LeBron is doing the best he can to keep locker room morale high in the event they're all stuck together after the deadline. This one got spicy! Click here to subscribe, rate and review all of the latest Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre podcasts!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - All About Kyrie: Mavs Playing with Fire, Lakers Dodged a Bullet & a Murky Future in Brooklyn
On today's episode, Jason brings you wall-to-wall coverage of the blockbuster trade that saw the Brooklyn Nets send mercurial point guard Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks. There are 3 prongs to this story: the Mavs side, the Nets side and the Los Angeles Lakers side. For Dallas, putting Kyrie alongside Luka Doncic is bound to cause fireworks... we just don't know what kind. On the court, the pair should be dynamite offensively and entirely capable of making a run to the NBA Finals. Off the court, however, it's more likely than not that Kyrie will do or say something that causes this whole thing to blow up in their faces. Irving has been a headache for years and has self-sabotaged his way out of three different franchises already. For Brooklyn, all eyes now shift towards Kevin Durant. We can assume that KD was consulted by the Nets front office before they ultimately decided to pull the trigger. However, once Durant realizes that this team is several notches below the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers, are we sure he won't demand a trade of his own again? This is definitely something to monitor as the trade deadline approaches later this week. For the Lakers, even though they failed to land the third star that LeBron James so desperately wanted, at least they dodged the bullet that is Kyrie. If Los Angeles is going to mortgage their future on another superstar then it should be on someone who is more reliable than Irving (hello, Zach LaVine!). Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Joe Mixon On the Bubble in Cincinnati, Everybody Hates the Grizzlies & the Lakers Should Trade for Zach LaVine
On today's episode, Jason gets things started by sharing his thoughts on Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon being sought by police for pulling a gun on a woman. The Bengals showed in the AFC Championship game that they're ready to phase Mixon out of their offense if needed so it's definitely possible that this incident could lead to them cutting ties from him altogether. Later, J-Mac goes off on the Memphis Grizzlies after Dillon Brooks got ejected for hitting Donovan Mitchell in the crotch during their latest loss. Memphis is quickly becoming the most unlikeable team in the NBA. Brooks is a nuisance and the team talks more trash than anyone in the League. The only problem? They've never actually won anything to justify it. Finally, our fearless leader closes the show by discussing why the first thing he looks for in potential trades is whether or not a guy is a winning player. Alex Caruso? Winning player. James Wiseman? Not so much. Zach LaVine? The jury is still out. However, if you can get LaVine to the Los Angeles Lakers where he would be the third option behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis as opposed to the first option he's been for the last few years, you can expect most of his warts to disappear. We've seen good things happen when good-but-not-great players drop down the pecking order (CJ McCollum and Jrue Holiday); there's no reason to think LaVine can't be the next guy.
