Tom Brady Has Retired (Again) + Sirius XM NBA Radio host Mitch Lawrence
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on Tom Brady's second retirement from the NFL and how it impacts the rest of the League. With Brady out of the picture, the price for guys like Derek Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo has suddenly shot through the roof. Lamar Jackson is unlikely to become available and Aaron Rodgers could retire in 2024 himself so we're likely to see a handful of teams try to overpay for any above-average signal caller who may hit the market. Later, longtime NBA writer and Sirius XM NBA Radio host Mitch Lawrence swings by to discuss the general lack of lack of talent around Luka Doncic on this current Dallas Mavericks roster, why he believes the Phoenix Suns' championship window is already closed, whether or not the Memphis Grizzlies are legitimate NBA championship contenders, the NBA's Load Management epidemic, which all-time greats belong on the proverbial Mount Rushmore of the NBA, how LeBron James stacks up against LeBron James in the GOAT conversation and much more! A Special Seahawks Haircut, Sean Payton is a Home Run Hire for Denver & Why You Can't Count Out the Lakers
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by quickly discussing that infamous Seattle Seahawks haircut we saw him sporting Tuesday morning on The Herd. It seemed like a good bet before the season that the Seahawks would be one of the worst teams in the NFL, but thanks in large part to former New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith, Seattle surprised a lot of people and ultimately caused our fearless to go viral. Later, J-Mac dives deep into the Denver Broncos decision to name Sean Payton as their next head coach. The price was steep but Payton still looks like a home run hire for Denver; If anyone can fix whatever ailed Russell Wilson last season, it's Payton. People forget that before last season Denver was projected to be a double-digit win team because their roster was so loaded with talent. With Payton running the show, the Broncos should absolutely be a playoff team in 2023. Finally, Jason closes the show with a few thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers' overtime victory over the New York Knicks. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Rui Hachimura looked pretty formidable along the front line, but more importantly, the Lakers showed that they have enough talent up and down the roster to make a deep playoff run. The 49ers Should Stay the Course, Keep Aaron Rodgers Away from The Jets & What Kellen More Can Learn From J-Mac
On today's episode, Jason gets things started by hitting us with a deep dive into Brock Purdy and the UCL injury that is expected to sideline him for at least 6 months. While some are using the injury as an excuse to float Tom Brady to the San Francisco 49ers as a potential free agent, J-Mac argues that the Niners should stay the course and let Purdy and Trey Lance battle it out for the starting gig. Why spend money on a stopgap signal caller like Tom Brady when you can fill out the rest of the roster with stars to help ease the burden on whichever quarterback is coming off of injury? Later, Jason explains once again why he's vehemently against the idea of his beloved New York Jets bringing in Aaron Rodgers to be their next starting quarterback. Not only is Rodgers aged and expensive but his ornery personality just doesn't seem like a good fit in a city like New York with a roster of young, impressionable stars. Finally, our fearless leader shares a personal story about his own rollercoaster ride from The Big Lead to FS1 to explain why Kellen Moore should view getting dumped by the Dallas Cowboys and eventually scooped up by the Los Angeles Chargers as a good thing. This is going to be a blessing in disguise that could ultimately lead to him getting that coveted head coaching gig in the near future. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Refs Ruined Championship Weekend, Mahomes' Toughness on Full Display & the Eagles Cakewalk to the Super Bowl
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall reaction to the AFC and NFC Championship games. Unfortunately, bad officiating seemed to be the story of the weekend as the zebras absolutely botched several key plays in both games. Expect we'll see an officiating overhaul of some sort before next season. As far as the games themselves, Patrick Mahomes' toughness was on full display as he led to the Kansas City Chiefs to a win over the Cincinnati Bengals. What Mahomes was able to do on a bum ankle and down 3 of his best wide receivers is precisely why he's worth every penny of that $500 million contract. Not to be outdone, the Chiefs defense harassed Joe Burrow all night and came up with two huge turnovers to seal the win. The NFC Championship game, on the other hand, was a snoozefest as the San Francisco 49ers were forced to play their 4th string quarterback due to injury. So while the Philadelphia Eagles have been downright dominant during their postseason run, a case can be made that they've had the easiest path to the Super Bowl in NFL history. Later, the guys share their thoughts on a few other NFL stories that hit the newswire on Sunday. First, the Dallas Cowboys decided to part ways with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Moore wasn't great in Dallas but he definitely wasn't the biggest problem either. This one definitely feels like Mike McCarthy is trying to save his own skin. Finally, the guys close the show with a wild Kyler Murray conspiracy theory that is guaranteed to have you re-thinking everything you thought we knew about the Arizona Cardinals. Aaron Rodgers to the Jets is a Bad Idea, NFC and AFC Championship Previews + VSiN host Michael Lombardi
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on his beloved New York Jets' decision to hire Nathaniel Hackett to be their next offensive coordinator. Presumably, the move was made with the intention of recruiting Aaron Rodgers to the Jets since the two worked together in Green Bay for three seasons. However, any realistic sports fan who can spot the forest through the trees will tell you that this is a bad idea - for a number of reasons. Later, Super Bowl winning NFL executive and VSiN host Michael Lombardi swings by to discuss the impact Patrick Mahomes’ ankle injury could have on the game, how he expects the Cincinnati Bengals to defend the high-octane Kansas City Chiefs offense, why the Chiefs defense is going to have to be more selective with their blitz package against Joe Burrow, what makes Kyle Shanahan and Andy Reid different from Nick Sirianni and Zac Taylor, why he’s uncertain that Brock Purdy or Jalen Hurt will be able to pull out a win if the opposing team gets out to a big early lead, why he expects the 49ers will have to play much better offensively than they did against Dallas to beat the Eagles, why he’s not surprised to hear that the Cowboys might be looking to move off offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and much more! Finally, J-Mac closes the show with a very special NFL Championship Weekend edition of the Best Bet. How to 'Hack' the NFL and Create an Instant Super Bowl Contender
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started with a quick update on the health status of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Apparently that ankle injury isn't as bad as originally thought and now bettors are back pounding the Chiefs. Definitely something to keep an eye on. Later, J-Mac does a deep dive into a full-proof way to 'hack' the NFL. History says you can't win a Super Bowl when your starting quarterback takes up a huge percentage of the cap. We all know that. However, a deeper dive will tell you if you can couple a lightly-paid quarterback with stout offensive line and a ferocious defensive front then you are basically assured to be a playoff team, at worst. If said quarterback also has a ton of college experience (a la Brock Purdy with the San Francisco 49ers and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles) then your team should be a legitimate Super Bowl contender. So now that we're all aware how to 'hack' the NFL, who is going to be the next team to do it? Would the Detroit Lions dump Jared Goff for a quarterback on a rookie deal? Can the New York Jets afford to take another swing at a young signal caller after the Zach Wilson debacle? Only time will tell! The Lakers are an Abomination (Except for LeBron) + Former NFL TE Clay Harbor
On today's episode, Jason gets things started by going off on his beloved Los Angeles Lakers following their gutless performance against the Los Angeles Clippers. LeBron James was phenomenal and the rest of the team played like crap. More importantly, Russell Westbrook was an absolutely abomination who proved once again that he's not capable of playing winning basketball against good teams. On the flip side, the hot-shooting Clippers led by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George showed once again why they're so dangerous if they can get into the playoffs as a healthy unit. Later, former NFL tight end Clay Harbor swings by to discuss his unusual path to the NFL, the difficulties of playing for the Philadelphia Eagles during the Chip Kelly Era, why he believes this current Eagles should be viewed as the Super Bowl favorites, why he thinks AJ Brown and Devonta Smith are both top-10 wide receivers in this current NFL, how the Eagles defensive front matches up with the physical San Francisco 49ers offensive line, how he ended up aggravating a wrist injury during an episode taping of The Bachelorette and much more! The Blueprint for NFL Success is on Full Display + The Athletic's Jovan Buha
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by quick a preview of the upcoming NFC and AFC Championship games from a betting perspective. Patrick Mahomes' ankle injury is obviously the biggest story of the week in the AFC, and in the NFC all eyes remain focused on the trenches. If you can find an early edge on either game you should definitely jump on it. Moreover, all of these teams are very talented, but one of the biggest reasons why the Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers are in the final four is that they were able to build out their rosters around quarterbacks who are still on their rookie deal contracts (Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts and Brock Purdy). There is no one way to win in the NFL but this definitely seems to be the most effective. Later, The Athletic Lakers beat writer Jovan Buha swings by to discuss Shannon Sharpe’s viral moment over the weekend, how Rui Hachimura fits alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, what other potential trades could be coming down the pike before the deadline, the rationale behind pushing all-in on this current Lakers squad, which Western Conference teams pose the biggest challenge for Los Angeles and much more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Can't Put All the Blame on Dak, the Bills Have a Sean McDermott Problem & The Truth about Danny Dimes
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall analysis of the NFL Divisional round playoff action. First up, following yet another disappointing playoff exit, all eyes will be on Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys. The guys disagree regarding exactly how much blame Dak deserves for what went wrong against the San Francisco 49ers, but they do agree that Dallas' future is murky at best given how many key players are free agents (Tony Pollard and Dalton Schultz, to name a few) and how big Dak's cap number is moving forward. On the flip side, Brock Purdy did just enough to get the win for San Francisco, but with Jimmy Garoppolo set to return from his injury, are we 100% certain he won't get a quick hook if things go awry in the NFC Championship game? Moving over to the AFC, it's become abundantly clear after their blowout loss to Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals that something is amiss with the Buffalo Bills. When a team flames out at home like that you have to wonder whether or not head coach Sean McDermott is still the man for the job moving forward. McDermott is easily the biggest loser of the weekend; if the Bills' ownership had any intestinal fortitude at all they'd put in a call to Sean Payton and gauge his interest in the job. Quickly looking ahead to the AFC Championship game, both guys agree as of now that the Bengals have to be the side given the uncertainty surrounding Patrick Mahomes and his gimpy ankle. We'll dive deeper into this one as the week goes on once more information becomes available regarding Mahomes' health. Finally, the J-Mac and Rob G close the show by diving deep into Daniel Jones and whether or not he should be considered the quarterback of the future for the New York Giants. Jones was mediocre at best against the Philadelphia Eagles, but he's also been working with arguably the worst receiving corps in the NFL. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - NFL (Assistant) Coaching Carousel, NFL Divisional Round Best Bets + Former NFL QB JT O'Sullivan
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a quick whip around the NFL following a series of high-profile coordinator firings. Did Greg Roman get the boot because Lamar Jackson has always wanted to run a pro style system? Will the firing of Byron Leftwich help to keep Tom Brady in Tampa Bay? Who will Minnesota and Miami tab to be their next defensive coordinators? J-Mac has it all covered. Later, former NFL quarterback and 'The QB School' host JT O'Sullivan swings by to discuss Brian Daboll's impact on Buffalo's Josh Allen and New York's Daniel Jones, why he still thinks Brady has a lot left in the tank, how Dak Prescott was able to bounce back from arguably the worst game of his career in Week 18 to play his best game in the Wild Card round, why it's so hard to evaluate quarterbacks coming out of college (like Justin Herbert), why he expects the crop of young quarterbacks to continue to flourish in the NFL Divisional round and much more! Bet the Farm on the 49ers + NBC Sports lead writer Kurt Helin
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by explaining why the San Francisco 49ers -4 over the Dallas Cowboys is easily his favorite bet of the NFL Divisional round. Money has been coming in on the Niners all week - and for good reason. San Francisco has been an absolute juggernaut for the last few months so it's reasonable to expect more of the same against Dallas. The Brock Purdy Show will roll on into the NFC Championship! Later, NBC Sports lead NBA writer Kurt Helin swings by to discuss why the Memphis Grizzlies are the team he trusts the most in the wide-open Western Conference, why scoring is up across the board and how it compares to other eras, what's currently ailing the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns, why tanking isn't as prevalent this season compared to others, which NBA stars he wouldn't trade for French phenom Victor Wembanyama and much more! Beware of the Detroit Lions in 2023, Europeans Have Taken Over the NBA + Former NFL OL Rich Ohrnberger
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing his thoughts on the sneaky-big news that Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has decided to remain with the club for next season. With Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St Brown, D'Andre Swift, Jamaal Williams and a strong offensive line all set to return (not to mention Johnson calling plays), the Lions are set up to be very good in 2023. Later, J-Mac does a deep dive into the European takeover in today's NBA. Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo are the three best players in the League right now. And that's saying a lot given that the talent level now is better than it's ever been. Finally, former NFL offensive lineman and FOX Sports Radio Weekend host Rich Ohrnberger swings by to discuss the Los Angeles Chargers' decision to keep head coach Brandon Staley and jettison their offensive coordinator instead, what makes Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson so good, why he likes the New Orleans Saints as a dark horse contender to land Tom Brady this offseason, the evolution as a passer of Patrick Mahomes, why he's all-in on the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional round against the Dallas Cowboys and much more! Tom Brady is Done in Tampa Bay, the Winners and Losers of Wild Card Weekend & Sean Payton's Future
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get the party started by sharing their thoughts on the Dallas Cowboys' blowout victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was the proverbial nail in the coffin of the Tom Brady Era in Tampa Bay. Brady - along with a slew of other veterans - is on his way out the door and now it's time to speculate where he might end up. Will he link back up with Josh McDaniels and the Las Vegas Raiders? Will the Brady to the Miami Dolphins rumors finally come to fruition? Will be just hang up his cleats (again) and retire? This will definitely be the biggest story of the offseason. Later, the guys share their thoughts on who they believe to be the biggest winners and losers of NFL Wild Card Weekend. A few of the answers my surprise you! Finally, J-Mac and Rob G close the show by discussing Sean Payton's future as the NFL's Coaching Carousel continues to turn. The Los Angeles Chargers seem to be the most obvious landing spot but sometimes when something is that obvious it doesn't actually come to fruition. Perhaps a team like the Denver Broncos or Carolina Panthers can swoop in and steal Payton's services. Either way, it seems pretty clear that the NFL's ongoing courtship of Sean Payton was enough to push Jim Harbaugh back to the University of Michigan. Hard to imagine he would've been cool serving as another team's 'safety school'. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Daniel Jones Won NFL Wild Card Weekend, the LA Chargers Blame Game & Cowboys-Buccaneers Preview
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall coverage of NFL Wild Card Weekend. We've been told that the NFL is a Quarterback League so naturally guys like Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley went toe-to-toe with MVP candidates Josh Allen and Joe Burrow. However, it's clear that the one guy who 'won' the weekend is New York Giants signal caller Daniel Jones. Jones out-dueled Kirk Cousins in what was easily his best game of the season. The question then now becomes whether or not Jones has shown enough over the last two months to solidify himself as the Giants' franchise quarterback moving forward. On the flip side, the clear 'losers' of the weekend were Los Angeles Chargers, who blew a 27-0 lead to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Brandon Staley showed once again that he's not quite cut out to be the head coach of an NFL with Super Bowl aspirations. If the Chargers weren't such a historically cheap franchise they would seem like a lock to nab Sean Payton to be their next head coach this offseason. Moreover, Rob G argues that a loss like the one the Chargers suffered proves once and for all that Justin Herbert should no longer be included in the group of elite quarterbacks. Is Herbert an elite QB, or is he just the second coming of the Detroit Lions version of Matthew Stafford? Finally, the guys close the show by previewing tonight's game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Are the Bucs being oversold in this spot? Is Mike McCarthy's job on the line? Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - NFL Wild Card Weekend Preview with Professional Sports Bettor David Baker
On today's episode, professional sports bettor David Baker swings by to preview the upcoming NFL Wild Card weekend slate and explain why he believes the Los Angeles Chargers are the favorite most likely to lose (against the Jacksonville Jaguars), why he thinks the Minnesota Vikings are almost underrated at this point heading into their rematch with the New York Giants, why he expects the Dallas Cowboys to beat the wildly overrated Tampa Bay Buccaneers, why he’s very confident that heavy favorites San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals to all roll and much more! A Weekend Without Tua Tagovailoa and Lamar Jackson + iHeartMedia podcast host Sean Brace
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on the unfortunate injuries that will likely keep quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and Tua Tagovailoa out of their respective playoff games. All signs point to the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins getting blown out without their signal callers, which could make for the second consecutive season where the NFL Wild Card round winds up being an absolute dud. Later, iHeartMedia podcast host Sean Brace swings by to discuss why he expects the NFC playoffs to be a two-horse race between the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers, the general optimism surrounding the Eagles' injured players, why it's not out of the realm of possibility that Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers make a deep playoff run, why he's betting big on the double-digit favorite 49ers and Buffalo Bills, why he's expecting a close game between the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants and much more! Former NFL agent Joel Corry Weighs in on the Futures of Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr, Matthew Stafford & More!
On today's episode, former NFL agent and CBS Sports analyst Joel Corry swings by for a lengthy conversation in which he discuss why it would be more beneficial for the Green Bay Packers from a salary cap perspective to sever ties with Aaron Rodgers this offseason rather than next, why he doesn’t expect Derek Carr to help facilitate a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders, why it could ultimately come down to Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo as the next starting quarterback of the New York Jets, how realistic it is that the Los Angeles Rams would actually trade Matthew Stafford this offseason to help expedite their rebuild, why he fully expects Lamar Jackson to be back with the Baltimore Ravens next season, what the market rate would be for free-agent-to-be Geno Smith and much more! Georgia Destroys TCU, the Truth About the Cardinals Job & Why the Rams Should Blow it Up
On today's episode, Jason gets things started by sharing his thoughts on the Georgia Bulldogs' demolition of the TCU Horned Frogs in the College Football Playoff Championship Game. This one got so ugly in the first few minutes it had our fearless leader channel surfing for old movies in the third quarter. The only real question to come out of this one is what's next for Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett. Bennett lacks the prototypical skills and measurables of an NFL quarterback, but as Jason notes a lot of a player's success ultimately depends on the situation he gets drafted into. If Bennett can get scooped up by a forward-thinking offensive mind, he can absolutely have a long career in the NFL. Later, J-Mac does a deep dive into the Arizona Cardinals following their surprising dismissal of head coach Kliff Kingsbury. Outside of Kyler Murray (who has a prickly personality and is coming off a devastating knee injury himself), the cupboard is pretty much bare in Arizona. In fact, Jason argues that it's easily one of the worst head coaching vacancies available right now. Finally, Jason goes off the deep end by explaining how the Los Angeles Rams should use Sean McVay's impending 'semi-retirement' to tear their roster down to the studs are start trading away stars like Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald, Cooper Kupp and Jalen Ramsey. Trust us, the idea sounds crazy on it's face until you hear him lay it out. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Aaron Rodgers and the Packers Choked, NFL Black Monday Predictions & College Football Playoff Championship preview with USA Today's Dan Wolken
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get things started by sharing their thoughts on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers' choke job on Sunday night against the Detroit Lions. Making matters worse, Rodgers once again helped push the tired narrative that this could be his final game as a member of the Packers. Will he retire? Is he going to demand a trade? The smart money says neither. It would be absolutely crippling from a salary cap perspective for Rodgers to play anywhere but Green Bay in 2023. Sticking in the NFL, Black Monday is officially upon us and the Houston Texans' Lovie Smith was the first victim of the day. Given that several head coaching vacancies already became available during the regular season it's actually pretty hard to project who else might be giving their walking papers today but the guys did manage to identify a pair of NFC coaches who could get the call later today. Later, USA Today Sports national columnist Dan Wolken swings by to discuss why the 'Cinderella' story surrounding the TCU Horned Frogs doesn't really hold water, what makes Georgia's Stetson Bennett such a great college quarterback, how NIL and the transfer portal field has almost leveled the field in college football, if we should expect another offensive explosion in the Championship game like we saw in the semi-finals and much more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - AFC Championship Game on a Neutral Site, the Bengals Got Shafted + CBS Sports analyst Danny Kanell
On today’s episode, Jason kicks things off with a deep dive into the decision handed down by the NFL that could result in a neutral site AFC Championship game should some combination of the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals make it that far. There’s a lot of minutiae to sift through, and ultimately the League made the best of a bad situation in the wake of Damar Hamlin’s injury, but our fearless leader has a problem with the provision that could keep the Bengals out of hosting a potential Wild Card round game against the Baltimore Ravens. The Bengals got shafted in this one, period. Later, CBS Sports analyst Danny Kanell (appearing on behalf of BetOnline.net) swings by to discuss what the expectations should be for his alma mater Florida State moving forward, his biggest problem with the transfer portal and how he would fix it, how the skills of quarterbacks Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Will Levis and Anthony Richardson might transfer to the NFL, what the TCU defense can do to try and slow down Stetson Bennett and the Georgia Bulldogs, how bettors should approach the College Football Playoff championship game and much more! Overhauling the NFL Playoff Schedule & a US Soccer Soap Opera
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by discussing a report suggesting that the NFL is considering overhauling the entire playoff schedule to ensure that the Buffalo Bills-Cincinnati Bengals game gets rescheduled. In this scenario, Bills-Bengals would be played in Week 19 alongside the NFC Wild Card round while the rest of the AFC get a bye week. The following week, the NFC would take a bye while the AFC play its Wild Card round. A scenario like this would have massive long-term implications as teams like the Philadelphia Eagles (Jalen Hurts), San Francisco 49ers (Deebo Samuel), Los Angeles Chargers (Joey Bosa) and Baltimore Ravens (Lamar Jackson) could potentially get extra time to get their stars healthy. This is definitely something to keep an eye on. Later, our fearless leaders shares his thoughts on a wild story coming out of US Soccer surrounding coach Gregg Berhalter. The parents of disgruntled star Gio Reyna tried to get Berhalter booted from the club by leaking information related to a domestic violence incident from over 30 years ago. We all understand wanting to protect your children at all costs but this is borderline psychotic behavior by the Reyna's. All signs point to Berhalter keeping his job after this whole ordeal but it's still a bad sign when the family of one of America's brightest young soccer stars is trying to stage a coup against the coach. NFL Week 18 Playoff Scenarios, Jim Harbaugh is Coming Back to the League & LeBron is Putting the Lakers to a Decision
On today's episode, Jason gets things started by previewing the upcoming Week 18 NFL slate. In the wake of the unfortunate injury to Damar Hamlin and the uncertainty surrounding the potential rescheduling of Buffalo Bills vs Cincinnati Bengals, all signs point to the Kansas City Chiefs getting the top overall seed (and the first-round bye) in the AFC. In the NFC, it's looking increasingly likely that the New York Giants will sit their key players and essentially hand over the top overall seed to the Philadelphia Eagles. Guess we'll have to look elsewhere for playoff seeding drama this weekend. Later, J-Mac shares a little inside information surrounding Jim Harbaugh and his potential move back to the NFL. The Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers appear to be the most likely landing spots for Harbaugh... assuming neither one can land Sean Payton. The billionaire owners of each franchise clearly want established guys so we could see something of a bidding war develop for Harbaugh and Payton. Finally, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) joins the show to discuss LeBron James’ impressive play as of late. Both guys are hopeful that this incredible tear will inspire the Los Angeles Lakers front office to make a trade that might vault the club into legitimate championship contention, but neither is all that optimistic about it. Either way, it’s clear that the guys are probably higher on the Lakers’ on-court potential than Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss are. INSTANT REACTION to Demar Hamlin and the Monday Night Football Postponement
On tonight's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you instant reaction to the unfortunate injury suffered by Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin during the Monday Night Football game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. What exactly led to Hamlin's scary injury? What was going through the minds of the Bengals and Bills players in the immediate aftermath of the play? Did the NFL act appropriately by waiting over an hour before ultimately deciding to postpone the game? Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Jets are Grounded Again, the Packers are Surging & College Football Kickers Strike Again
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by pouring one out for his beloved New York Jets now that they've officially been eliminated from postseason contention. It's become abundantly clear this season that Jets cannot be taken seriously in the AFC until they get their quarterback situation figured out, and if J-Mac had his druthers he'd be telling the powers that be to go all-in on Derek Carr in 2023. Later, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) swings by to help discuss the Green Bay Packers' blowout win over the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings aren't a legitimate threat in the NFC but that doesn't make the Packers' performance any less impressive. Green Bay is surging right now and have the look of a dark horse Super Bowl contender heading into their de facto playoff game next week against the Detroit Lions. On the flip side, the Philadelphia Eagles continue to stumble without Jalen Hurts. Two weeks ago, Philly was considered a lock to earn the top overall seed in the NFC but that is very much in jeopardy heading into Week 18. Interestingly enough, the team that is most likely to steal the #1 seed - the San Francisco 49ers - looked pretty average themselves in a close win over the the lowly Las Vegas Raiders. This is really shaping up to be one of the wildest NFC Playoffs we've seen in years. Speaking of wild, did you see what happened on Saturday in the College Football Playoff semifinal games? Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines played an uncharacteristically sloppy game in their stunning loss to TCU while Ohio State came this close to upsetting the top-seeded Georgia Bulldogs only to be undone by what some are calling the worst kick in college football history. Seriously. It was that bad. Finally, J-Mac closes the show with a very special Monday Night Football (Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals) edition of the Best Bet. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Uninspiring Dallas Cowboys, LeBron vs the Lakers Front Office & College Football Playoff/NFL Best Bets
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on the Dallas Cowboys' uninspiring win over the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night. The Titans rested all of their best players since the game was virtually meaningless in the AFC playoff race... and Dallas still didn't pull away until the fourth quarter. While everyone is jumping for joy after the Cowboys earned their 12th win of the season, the harsh reality is Dallas is playing mediocre football as of late and they're basically limping into the playoffs. Later, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) swings by to help discuss LeBron James' public plea for help from the Los Angeles Lakers front office. It's clear that the Lakers as presently constructed aren't championship contenders - and The King isn't happy about it. While Jason and Rob agree that they'd like to see Los Angeles make a swing to make the club relevant again, they disagree on exactly how much blame the Lakers front office deserves for their current predicament. The Raiders are Done with Derek Carr + Sports Illustrated senior writer Pat Forde
On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) kick things off by sharing their thoughts on the Las Vegas Raiders’ decision to move off of quarterback Derek Carr. Will Carr land on his feet with a team like the New York Jets? More importantly, will Josh McDaniels attempt to bring a veteran like Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers in to replace him, or will he opt to take a young signal caller in the upcoming draft? The guys have the answers to those questions – and many more. Later, Sports Illustrated senior writer Pat Forde swings by to discuss why so many college football fans and pundits are down on Ohio State entering the College Football Playoff, the inevitable Mark Richt comparisons for Ryan Day, how Stetson Bennett stacks up against a few of the other winningest quarterbacks in college football history, Deion Sanders’ impact at Colorado and why SEC schools will certainly be paying attention, what makes Wisconsin’s hire of Luke Fickell so interesting and much more! Luka Doncic's Historic Night, More Dysfunction in Denver & a Dark Horse NFC Champion
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get the party started by sharing their thoughts on Luka Doncic's historic stat line against the New York Knicks. Luka is an absolute monster who has been putting up absurd numbers for years and his greatness has almost become under-appreciated at this point. With that in mind, the guys debate whether or not night's like this are meant to be celebrated given that he's the level of player who will only be judged by championships... and most agree this Dallas Mavericks team isn't good enough to win a title. Later, the guys take a few minutes to discuss the Denver Broncos head coaching search. The new ownership plans to take a hands-on approach moving forward and essentially make the general manager obsolete, while simultaneously building around a washed up version of Russell Wilson. Can you really expect any new coach to succeed with that level of disfunction around the team? Finally, J-Mac and Rob G close the show by explaining why Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are a decent long-shot bet to win the NFC. The uncertainty surrounding Jalen Hurts has really opened things up for the rest of the field and none of the remaining favorites (San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings) are without serious questions. Having said that, would it really be all that shocking if the suddenly-streaking Packers make a run to the Super Bowl? Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Chargers are Dangerous, Nathaniel Hackett Wasn't the Broncos' Only Problem & Tom Brady's Next Landing Spot
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started with a few thoughts on the Los Angeles Chargers' easy win on Monday Night over the Indianapolis Colts. With Keenan Allen and Mike Williams back and healthy - and Justin Herbert at the controls - the Chargers are arguably the most dangerous Wild Card team entering the playoffs. Don't be surrpised to see them make a Cincinnati Bengals-type run to the Super Bowl. Later, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) swings by to help discuss the Denver Broncos’ decision to fire head coach Nathaniel Hackett before his first season with the club was even completed. Hackett was clearly in over his head, but the fact remains that much of the Broncos’ issues stem from the fact that Russell Wilson’s play has fallen off a cliff. Can a new coach (like Sean Payton, maybe) fix whatever is ailing Wilson, or is Wilson officially washed? Speaking of quarterbacks, it’s become abundantly clear that Derek Carr isn’t the answer for the Las Vegas Raiders. The only problem then becomes, who can they get that would represent an upgrade at the position? It’s highly unlikely the Raiders can get Lamar Jackson or Aaron Rodgers, but what about Tom Brady? At least he’s familiar with Josh McDaniels’ offense. The guys close the show by sharing a quick note on the Dallas Cowboys’ offensive explosion against the Philadelphia Eagles. We all think Philly will still end up getting the #1 seed in the NFC, but the Eagles’ reputation has taken a hit the past few weeks (even more so now that Jalen Hurts is dealing with a shoulder injury). The Paulie & Tony Fusco Show: Jason McIntyre GETS BOOTED AGAIN, Jalen Hurts WRONGED, Dak Prescott SLAMMED by LeSean McCoy
Jason McIntyre, who always has TERRIBLE takes, attempts to set the record for most times getting kicked off the show (spoiler alert: he does). Paulie & Tony explain why Eagles QB Jalen Hurts just got WRONGED in the NFL MVP odds, why LeSean McCoy was TOTALLY RIGHT to call Cowboys QB Dak Prescott “ass”, and why Sports Illustrated made a HORRIBLE move by naming Steph Curry “Sportsman of the Year". Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - A Bad Omen for NFL Quarterbacks, NFL Week 16 Best Bets + Pickswise lead betting analyst Jared Smith
On today's episode, Jason opens the show with a quick note on the Brooklyn Nets' beatdown of the Golden State Warriors in a game where the Nets led by over 40 points on several occasions. The only question is: Are the Nets that good or are the Warriors that bad? In the NFL, Nick Foles getting the starting nod this week for the Indianapolis Colts make them the ninth different team to play at least three different starting quarterbacks this season. It's no wonder why the NFL goes above and beyond to protect the quarterback. Later, Pickswise lead betting analyst and FOX Sports Radio’s Countdown to Kickoff presented by BetMGM co-host Jared Smith swings by to discuss why the overall volatility of Zach Wilson makes tonight’s game between the New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars so tough to read, why he was in early on the Dallas Cowboys against the Philadelphia – even before news broke about Jalen Hurts’ injury, why the market suggests that Ryan Tannehill will be out this week against the Houston Texans, what we can expect from Nick Foles in his first start of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers, why we should expect weather to play a huge factor this weekend in at least five different games, which Super Bowl futures tickets he’s holding that has him so excited and much more! Drake Maye and the Defense of NIL + Former Pro Bowl WR TJ Houshmandzadeh
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by taking University of Pittsburgh head coach Pat Narduzzi to task a bit for trying to go scorched earth on Drake Maye and the NIL process. Narduzzi taking shots at the bigger schools (and to a lesser extent, Maye himself) simply because Pitt doesn't have the infrastructure to keep its own stars in place is a bad look. Don't you think Narduzzi himself would leave Pitt if another school offered him millions more than he's currently making? Of course he would. Later, former Pro Bowl wide receiver and ‘Up on Game’ on FOX Sports Radio co-host TJ Houshmandzadeh swings by to discuss how much credit Joe Burrow deserves for the Cincinnati Bengals’ dramatic in-season turnaround, why he picked Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles to make the Super Bowl even before the season started, the biggest thing Zach Wilson needs to get corrected if he wants to become a viable starting quarterback in the NFL, why he’s still a big believer in Tua Tagovailoa, how he expects the top of the 2023 NFL Draft to shake out and much more! The Plucky Packers, a Sad Slate of Games on Christmas & Bad News for Jalen Hurts
On today's episode, Jason kick things off with a few thoughts on the Green Bay Packers' win over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night. The Packers defense harassed Baker Mayfield all night long while Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones led a balanced Packers offense. No one really expects Green Bay to make the postseason but they did show they're capable of playing the kind of complimentary football it takes to win in the playoffs (at least for a night). Later, J-Mac goes up and down the Christmas Day NFL and NBA slate of games. What seemed like a gift a few months ago is now shaping up to be a lump of coal. Whether it's due to injury (Steph Curry Anthony Davis, Matthew Stafford and Kyler Murray) or generally underwhelming play (Luka Doncic's Mavs, LeBron James' Lakers, Tom Brady's Buccaneers and Russell Wilson's Denver Broncos), most of these games are setting up to be total snoozefests. Let's just hope someone can turn in a Christmas Miracle. Finally, our fearless leader closes the show by sharing his thoughts on the shoulder injury to Jalen Hurts that is expected to sideline the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback for at least a couple of weeks. Can Hurts still win the NFL MVP if he misses the final 3 games of the regular season, including that much-anticipated NFC East showdown with the Dallas Cowboys? More importantly, can the Eagles stay afloat and secure the top-seed in the NFC without their starting quarterback? Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Greatest World Cup Final Ever, a Wild Win for the Raiders & the Truth about the NFL's 'Elite' Teams
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on what some are calling the greatest Final match in World Cup history. Lionel Messi (2 goals) and Argentina ended up being victorious but Kylian Mbappe (3 goals) put on a legendary performance himself in defeat. It was one of those games that even the staunchest soccer haters had to admit lived up to the billing. Moving over to the NFL, J-Mac opens things up by diving deep into his beloved New York Jets' excruciating loss to the suddenly streaking Detroit Lions. The Lions are arguably the most dangerous team in the NFL heading down the stretch while the Jets continue to stumble. Speaking of stumbling, did you see what happened in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Some will argue that Joe Burrow engineered yet another massive comeback but the truth is that Tom Brady and the Bucs lost this one more than Cincy won it. Later, Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) swings by to discuss the Las Vegas Raiders' wild walk-off win over the New England Patriots. The Raiders have been involved in some of the craziest plays in NFL history, but I don't think we've seen anything close to an intercepted-lateral-returned-for-touchdown to finish off a game that had been tied before the snap. Crazy stuff. On a macro level, it's become painfully obvious that there are no truly elite teams in the NFL this season. The Buffalo Bills still can't run the ball, the Kansas City Chiefs defense is as leaky as ever, the Minnesota Vikings are clearly frauds, the Dallas Cowboys always disappoint and the Philadelphia Eagles are unproven; Don't be surprised to see one - or more - of these 'top' teams get bounced out early in the postseason. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Niners are Great and the Seahawks are Not + The Volume's Alex Monaco
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on the San Francisco 49ers' bludgeoning of the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football. The Niners are who we thought they were: a legitimate Super Bowl threat coming out of the NFC. Brock Purdy has shown he's more than capable of executing Kyle Shanahan's system, and he has an incredible defense to lean to boot. The Seahawks? Nowhere near as good as their record would suggest. Geno Smith is still limited and the rest of the roster is very limited. This one went just about how we thought it would. Later, MSG Network and The Volume host Alex Monaco swings by to discuss his career in comedy, the notion that this is a get-right game for the Cleveland Browns against the banged-up Baltimore Ravens, why he’s all-in on the New York Jets against the Detroit Lions, the potential that both the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys are overlooking their Week 14 opponents and ahead to their own big showdown in Week 15, why he’s back on the Las Vegas Raiders this week even after their epic meltdown last week, why he trusts the Tennessee Titans more than the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday, why he loves the Cincinnati Bengals against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and much more! Messi vs. Mbappe in the World Cup Final, Concern About Steph Curry's Shoulder & Will Levis' NFL Draft Stock
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started with a quick preview of the upcoming World Cup Final between Argentina and France. It's hard to explain to non-soccer fans how big it is to see Lionel Messi vs Kylian Mbappe in the Final; It would be like seeing Kobe Bryant face LeBron James in the NBA Finals back in 2009. It's arguably the greatest players of their respective generations going head-to-head for all the marbles, you can't beat it. In the NBA, the big news on Wednesday has to be the health of Steph Curry, who left late in the Golden State Warriors loss to the Pacers with a shoulder injury. It's still unclear how long Curry will be out, but given that the Warriors have been absolutely atrocious on the road even with Steph, it's hard now to be just a little bit concerned about the team moving forward. Later, Jason hits us with a way-too-early lookahead to the 2023 NFL Draft. Many expected this would be a quarterback-rich draft given how poor last season's crop graded out but as of now we're stuck with more questions than answers. Kentucky's Will Levis is said to be the best of the bunch, but have you seen the way he's looked against top-flight competition? Yikes. The Lakers Blow Another One + Professional sports bettor Preston Johnson
On today’s episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on the Boston Celtics’ wild win over the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers looked dead to rights in the third, stormed back to take a big lead late in the fourth… only to blow it in the final minutes and eventually lose in overtime to Jayson Tatum and Co. This has become something of a trend for LeBron James and Anthony Davis as it is at least the third time this season that Los Angeles has fumbled a game in the final seconds of regulation. Tough night for the Purple & Gold. Later, professional sports bettor Preston Johnson swings by to discuss the trials and tribulations of owning a soccer team abroad, the application of analytics, the latest World Cup happenings (Portugal benching Ronaldo, Messi leading Argentina to the World Cup Final, the future of US Soccer, etc.), the Los Angeles Clippers’ NBA championship odds, which NBA stars we’d trade for Victor Wembanyama and much more! Kyler Murray's Devastating Knee Injury, Big D says 'No' to OBJ + Bleacher Report NBA columnist Eric Pincus
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on the New England Patriots' win over the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football. The Pats are currently in the mix for one of the AFC Wild Card spots but their closing schedule is pretty daunting. New England's season could really come down to their meeting with the Miami Dolphins in a few weeks. Monday's biggest story, however, has to be the Cardinals losing Kyler Murray to an ACL injury. Best case scenario? Murray is back in October of the 2023 season. Most likely scenario? Kyler isn't back until Thanksgiving, at best. This season was already a lost cause for Arizona and now all signs point to next season being a disappointment as well. Later, J-Mac shares a quick note on the Dallas Cowboys' pivot away from Odell Beckham Jr. OBJ played hardball with Jerry Jones by refusing to play in the regular season and demanding a guaranteed second year, so Jones opted to sign TY Hilton instead. The question now becomes, if not Dallas, where will OBJ end up? Finally, Bleacher Report NBA columnist Eric Pincus swings by to discuss how the New York Knicks could factor into Kyle Kuzma's future, the rumors linking both DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic to the Los Angeles Lakers, why Indiana Pacers sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic is probably the most gettable player on the trade market for Los Angeles, why he expects we'll see a lot of 'buyers' coming out of the Western Conference, and much more! Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Tua vs. Herbert Isn't a Debate, Brock Purdy Can Get it Done & World Cup Headlines
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on Tua Tagovailoa's ugly performance in the Miami Dolphins' Sunday Night Football loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Tua looked like an MVP candidate for about two months but he's really struggled the last 2.5 games without his starting left tackle. On the flip side, Justin Herbert was phenomenal for Los Angeles. This game should have sealed it the Herbert vs Tua debate once and for all; 'Exposed' might be too strong of a word but Tua definitely isn't an MVP-caliber quarterback. Sticking in the AFC, Mike White lost the battle against the Buffalo Bills but he may have won the war and cemented his status as the New York Jets' starting quarterback moving forward. The way White battled back from brutal shot after brutal shot was nothing short of heroic. The biggest story of the weekend, however, has to be what Brock Purdy did in his debut start for the San Francisco 49ers. Purdy was lights out in their win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's not far-fetched to say that Purdy could lead the Niners to the NFC Championship Game (even without Deebo Samuel). Later, Jason uses all the NFL Week 14 results to do a quick lookahead to Week 15. The NFL Playoff picture is starting to take shape, and more importantly, there are a handful of juicy betting lines that seem ripe for the taking if bettors can get in early. Finally, J-Mac closes the show with a deep dive into all the biggest headlines surrounding the World Cup, including the unfortunate death of journalist Grant Wahl and the Jason's viral report surrounding the infamous USMNT vote that almost sent Gio Reyna home from Qatar. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Baker Mayfield's Big Moment, the Raiders' Latest Choke Job + Football Outsiders writer Robert Weintraub
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by recapping the Los Angeles Rams' wild Thursday Night Football victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Baker Mayfield completed the perfect Hollywood ending in this one: signed two days ago, get exactly one day of practice in and then throw the game-winning touchdown pass in the final seconds of a miraculous comeback. The bigger story, however, has to be the Raiders' meltdown. Las Vegas has made a habit of blowing big leads all season but this one feels like rock bottom given the circumstances. Any chance the Raiders had of making the playoffs has been flushed down the toilet after this one. Later, Football Outsiders writer and author Robert Weintraub swings by to discuss the upcoming Battle for Ohio between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns, how much credit Zac Taylor deserves for Joe Burrow and the Bengals' turnaround the past two seasons, whether or not this Sunday will be a bounce back game for Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins, why the streaking Detroit Lions are favored over the NFC North leader Minnesota Vikings, why he expects young teams like the Seattle Seahawks to falter down the stretch and much more! What Aaron Judge and Lamar Jackson Have in Common & a Make-or-Break Month for Baker Mayfield
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get it started by sharing their thoughts on Aaron Judge's decision to re-sign with the New York Yankees. While both guys agree it ultimately made sense for both parties for Judge to stay in the Bronx, they disagree on whether or not the Yankees should have been willing to give him such a lengthy deal. Would it have it made more to offer him a shorter deal with a higher average annual value? And if so, are we sure Judge would have even accepted it? Speaking of negotiations, it's clear this season won't help Lamar Jackson in his quest for a fully-guaranteed contract from the Baltimore Ravens. If Jackson really wants to secure the bag he's going to need a desperate suitor (a la the San Diego Padres for Judge) that might force the Ravens' hand. With that in mind, the guys have four NFL teams that they believe might be willing to push all-in on Lamar this upcoming offseason. Later, J-Mac and Rob discuss Baker Mayfield's NFL future after getting claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Rams. Jason argues that Mayfield and the Rams could play spoiler down the stretch and thus rehabilitate his image around the League, while Rob believes Mayfield will fall flat on his face and ultimately be out of the NFL altogether after the season. The Raiders and Lakers are Relevant Again & Trae Young Needs to be Taught a Lesson
On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) reunite to hit you with a cornucopia of hot takes on all the biggest headlines around the world of sports. First off, the Las Vegas Raiders are suddenly one of the hottest teams in the NFL. With their remaining schedule littered with backup quarterbacks (Los Angeles Rams / San Francisco 49ers) and mediocre opposition (New England Patriots / Pittsburgh Steelers), it's not out of the realm of possibility that the Raiders run the table the rest of the regular season. Sticking in the AFC, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is dealing with a knee injury, and given how banged up the rest of the roster is around him, would you really blame Jackson for just shutting it down the rest of the season? Moving over to the NBA, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers have been on an absolute tear as of late (even if they did lose on the road in Cleveland on Tuesday night after AD left the game due to illness). Given what we've seen from them recently, is it fair to say that the Lakers have a legitimate path towards championship contention? Obviously they still need to make a trade or two to really elevate themselves but the idea doesn't seem as farfetched as it did early in the season. Finally, J-Mac and Rob G close the show by taking Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young to task for skipping his team's game on Friday night and trying to evade reporter questions about it a few days later. Young has had an uneven reputation for some time now and this certainly didn't help his cause. Saints Choke One Away to the Bucs, Baker Mayfield Wants to Get to The Bay & World Cup Musings
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started with a deep dive into the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Monday Night Football victory over the New Orleans Saints. The Saints were the better team for 3.5 quarters until they choked the game away and allow Tom Brady to steal the win in the final seconds. Even still, Bucs fans have to realize that this team just isn't any good and are likely being set up for a swift Wild Card round exit at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys. Speaking of the Cowboys, did you see they continued their full-court press on Odell Beckham Jr. by taking him out to a Dallas Mavericks game? In other news, Baker Mayfield being released by the Carolina Panthers sets the stage for him to try and force his way to the San Francisco 49ers as insurance for Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy. The only problem is teams like the Seattle Seahawks (who have an earlier waiver slot than the Niners) could easily claim Mayfield strictly with the intention of keeping him away from San Francisco. That's definitely something to monitor here in the next 24 hours. Finally, J-Mac closes the show with a few thoughts on the World Cup. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Bengals Send a Message, the Niners' Loss is the Cowboys' Gain & the Truth About NFL Teasers
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started with a deep dive into the Cincinnati Bengals big win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Joe Burrow is now 3-0 against Patrick Mahomes in his career (and firmly in the NFL MVP race), and more importantly, has completely shaken up the AFC playoff race. With Baltimore Ravens' quarterback Lamar Jackson set to miss some time, Burrow's Bengals are suddenly a dark horse contender for the top overall seed. In the NFC, the San Francisco 49ers rolled over Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dophins, but at what cost? Jimmy Garoppolo is out for the season and now the Niners' Super Bowl hopes rest on the unproven shoulders of Brock Purdy. San Francisco proved in their win over Miami that they still have a talented enough roster to win even with mediocre quarterback play but the playoffs are a different story altogether. The Niners loss, however, could be the Dallas Cowboys gain. Dak Prescott and the Boys steamrolled the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night and are now right in the thick of things in the race for the top seed in the NFC Playoffs. Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles are still clearly the team to beat in the conference but you have to think that Dallas is next in line now that San Francisco is down to their third-string quarterback. Later, J-Mac explains why Sunday's NFL slate (specifically the losses by the New York Jets and Los Angeles Chargers & the wins by the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks) was a friendly reminder that it's hard to tell which teams are actually good. There are a handful of obvious Super Bowl contenders, but there are a TON of teams that look great one week and horrible the next. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The New England Patriots Stink + College Football Championship Weekend and NFL Week 13 Best Bets
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by doing a deep dive on the Buffalo Bills bludgeoning of the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football. The Patriots were never as good as 'the Sharps' thought they were so it should come as no surprise that the Bills cruised to victory. Adding insult to injury, Mac Jones was caught by the television cameras cursing at one of his coaches on the sidelines late in the game. Big Yikes! Later, J-Mac shares a few quick thoughts on the last few weeks of the fantasy football season and all the latest World Cup happenings. Finally, our fearless leader closes the show with a very special college football Championship Weekend and NFL Week 13 edition of the Best Bet. Do the Cincinnati Bengals have it in them to shock the Kansas City Chiefs for a third straight time? Will Tua Tagovailoa have enough time to carve up the San Francisco 49ers defense if his offensive tackles aren't 100% healthy? More Kyler Murray Drama + College GameDay’s Chris ‘The Bear’ Fallica
On today’s episode, Jason kicks things off with a deep dive into the latest drama surrounding Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. Murray’s attitude and commitment has been questioned more than once since he signed his contract extension this past offseason. Now, his former teammate Patrick Peterson is publicly calling him selfish. As talented as Kyler is, it might be time for Cardinals fans to admit that he’s just not cut out to be the leader Arizona needs him to be. Later, ESPN College GameDay’s Chris ‘The Bear’ Fallica swings by to preview Championship week, discuss why Ohio State – not Alabama – has an outside shot of making the College Football Playoff, why USC is the one team that Georgia probably least wants to see in the first round, why it’s so tough to determine strength of schedule in college football, why he never wanted Zach Wilson to be the quarterback of his beloved New York Jets, which future bets he likes for the World Cup and much more! College Football Playoff Drama + US Soccer legend Eric Wynalda
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started with a few quick thoughts on the latest College Football Playoff rankings. USC is currently sitting at #4, but all signs point to the Trojans jumping TCU at #3 if they end up beating Utah in the Pac-12 Championship game; their resume is just better than the Horned Frogs'. What's more, the possibility of presumptive Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams taking on the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs in the championship game is juicy as heck. However, if USC wins and TCU loses in the Big 12 Championship game, would it make more sense for the committee to elevate Ohio State or Alabama? Definitely something to ponder. Later, US Soccer legend and Sirius XM radio host Eric Wynalda swings by to discuss why Christian Pulisic’s goal against Iran will go down as one of the epic moments in US Soccer history, how and why his comments about Gio Reyna’s availability went viral, why coach Gregg Berhalter’s system can be especially frustrating for forwards who like to score but has been great defensively thus far, the keys to victory for Team USA’s upcoming match against the Netherlands, why the World Cup bracket is set up pretty well for a deep run by the US, and much more! Jeff Saturday Looked Shaky, How the Rams Could Shake up the NFL Draft & USA-Iran World Cup Preview
On today's episode, Jason gets the party started with a few thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers' Monday Night Football victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett looked solid most of the game for the Steelers, but rookie head coach Jeff Saturday was absolutely brutal down the stretch for the Colts. Saturday's time management at the end was embarrassing; he looked exactly like you'd expect a guy who got plucked off the street and asked to coach an NFL team n the middle of the season. Sticking in the NFL, Cooper Kupp, Matthew Stafford and now Aaron Donald are all dealing with injuries for the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams. With the Big Three down, it's entirely possible that the Rams don't win another game the rest of the season. And, with the Detroit Lions owning the Rams first round pick, the top of the NFL Draft could get very interesting. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Defending Lamar Jackson, the Truth About Mike White & Why Kyler Murray and Aaron Rodgers Could Both Get Traded
On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get the party started with a deep dive into Lamar Jackson’s obscene tweet in the aftermath of the Baltimore Ravens’ disappointing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jackson is clearly frustrated, and he’s young so we’re going to give him a pass for the tweet. However, given that this wasn’t the first time the Ravens lost a game they should’ve won and Jackson’s overall numbers aren’t all that impressive, is it fair to say the critics were right to say he’s not worth the fully-guaranteed contract he’s been seeking? Sticking in the AFC, backup Mike White put on an absolute show in his first game starting in place of Zach Wilson. So you would think J-Mac would be giddy as a kid in a candy store, right? Wrong. The fact remains that White carved a porous Chicago Bears defense and it would be unfair to all parties involved to declare him a clear upgrade over Wilson after one game. Let’s let this thing play out first before we crown White. Moving over to the NFC, the tense relationship between Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray seems to be at a boiling point now that Kyler has publicly ripped his coach’s scheme. We’ve been trying to tell y’all for weeks that Kliff and Kyler weren’t on good terms and now it seems more likely than not that they’re headed for a divorce. Speaking of divorce, could Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers be headed for Splitsville after the season as well? At some point, the Packers have to see what they have in Jordan Love, right? We all thought that when Rodgers got hurt in the Packers’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that it might allow Green Bay to start Love for the rest of the season… until Rodgers came out and said that he’s going to keep playing so long as his MRI comes back clean. Rodgers obviously won’t step aside willingly so the Packers are probably going to have to trade him if they want Love to take over; do they have the stones to do it? We’ll find out soon enough. The 49ers are Really Freaking Good & a World Cup Draw that Felt like a Loss for the U.S.
On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on the San Francisco 49ers' blowout victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football. We've been saying for weeks that the Niners appear to be a lock to make the NFC Championship game, at a minimum. The running game with Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell is strong, Jimmy Garoppolo has a plethora of weapons headlined by Deebo Samuel and George Kittle, and the defense is loaded with playmakers like Nick Bosa. Heading into December, the NFC appears to be a three horse race between the Niners, Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. The AFC, however, is much tougher to call. We can all agree that Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are the favorites, but the Buffalo Bills have played uneven football for weeks, the Cincinnati Bengals have a brutal schedule coming up and the teams like the New York Jets and Los Angeles Chargers aren't even locks to make the playoffs. Unlike the NFC where the top 3 teams are a cut above the rest, the AFC is likely going to come down to playoff seeding. Later, J-Mac does a deep dive into the U.S. Men's National Team's disappointing draw against Wales in the World Cup. The USMNT outplayed Wales throughout the first half (and parts of the second) but had it all come crashing down thanks to a late foul that set up the game-tying goal by Gareth Bale. Given how dominant England looked on Monday, that draw definitely felt like a loss for Team USA.
