Ep 485Soulful Leaders Of Africa, It's Time To Unite! – Paul D. Lowe & Collins Mureithi
On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined by Collins Mureithi to talk about the challenges in African communities that can only really be overcome with good, effective leadership and to explain what the term ‘soulful leaders’ means to him. KEY TAKEAWAYS Soulful leader is a person who brings service to humanity and is someone who is able to serve their community or humanity through giving his purpose in life or through giving without expecting or receiving anything. It’s a servant leadership process. When I serve my community in Kenya, I don’t look at what I’m getting, I serve because I know it’s all about giving/serving with love. The reason I started a programme on leadership is because a lot of people do not understand the true definition of leadership. What needs to be done is to help people understand what exactly leadership is and who is a soulful leader. I see a lot of leaders who just want to be in positions because of what they get out of it. For example, in Kenya a lot of young people see that if they want to accumulate more wealth they need to be in leadership. It’s the wrong mindset. People need to understand that the definition of heaven is what you choose to do, and whatever you do as a person will either haunt you negatively or positively. It’s all about choice. It today I decided to be a servant leader because I’ve decided to serve with love. But if I decide to be a transactional leader, which comes with its own negative attributes, that’s my choice too. The heaven you want to have is upon you to choose what you want to do and that choice will come back to impact you negatively or positively. BEST MOMENTS ‘Every day I serve my purpose through what I do and it revolves around love.’ ‘When you accumulate things not in the right way, every day you have fear, but if you serve in the right way there’s no way you will have fear.’ ‘Technology has made the world into a village and we need to learn from the experts what the definition of leadership and soulful leadership is because if we understand it and know what you’re supposed to do as a soulful leader, you can go and build others to be agents of positive change in the community.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Collins Mureithi is the founder of a grassroots youth-led organisation called Centre For Adolescent Young Change Makers. Ep 484Soulful Leaders: Dancing With Money – Rosemary Cunningham
Paul is joined on this episode by returning guest Rosemary Cunningham to talk about another subject close to her heart: Soulful leaders, something Paul will be exploring on the podcast in the future. KEY TAKEAWAYS I work with heart-centred business owners, these people aren’t led by financial gain despite it being a necessary part of business, their first motivator is to make a difference. We all have different motivators and they often come from when we were small and being taught about money and worth. You can be taught that if you’re not good you don’t get what you want and if you ask for it you’ll probably get rejected which, as an empath, can be very very painful. That can make asking for what we want all the way down the line in life – from asking for a wage increase to asking for money back that you lent someone – very challenging. Certain aspects of money archetypes, which are aspects of you, can be fighting each other; one of them wants to keep it really close and not spend it, the other may want to take some risks. It can almost be like you’re having an internal battle about what’s right, what’s doable, what’s acceptable and what’s safe. Soulful leadership is listening to people, hearing their concerns, treating people with kindness, consideration, allowing people to have their say and be heard and leading the way from a heart place where the first motivation is service rather than holding onto your piece of the pie so nobody else can have any. Women will give more money from their earnings into their community, charity and will support people that are up and coming more than men. Men can be soulful leaders as well, but it’s predominantly a divine feminine energy. BEST MOMENTS ‘We’re rewriting all the rules around business at the moment.’ ‘I’m most effective in my business when I tune into my soul for guidance.’ ‘The idea of scarcity and sufficiency is also a very powerful one and this goes back to the Adam Smith economics which our economy is based on: A country only made enough money to match how much gold it had, the Gold Standard, which bears no relation to what happens now at all. But the training still teaches that.’ ‘People are waking up all over the place desperate to change systems like banking and bit by bit they will.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Rosemary Cunningham’s first career was nursing, but she had problems with her hands which meant it couldn’t be her full time career. She founded her own complementary therapy business in 1993 where she helps women who want to find their passion and purpose and create a business that brings all of themselves into one pot. She’s a healer, a business and money coach, a nurse, she can be very grounded and extremely spiritual too. Rosemary has always loved her work but it has been very challenging. Her mission now is to help her clients find a much easier path. Business can be fun, light and even easy… it’s all about mindset. Recently, Rosemary studied brain training and conscious creation and this is part of her coaching. She helps her clients find new ways of thinking and speaking to create a very different reality, the one they really want, not the one they think they deserve or have been taught is for them. She left her part time nursing job in 1999 to run the business full time and now works with women who really want to make a difference. Ep 483Inter-Cultural Relationships (Part One) – Bob Conlin & Rubria Mendoza
On this episode guest host Bob Conlin presents another of his relationship episodes, this time he has a guest, Rubria Mendoza, for the first of a two-part episode on cultural relationships. For example, what are some of the challenges and benefits of being in a relationship with someone from a different culture. KEY TAKEAWAYS I was born in Mexico but moved to the US when I married an American. It’s been a great journey, but those first years were tough. It’s really important to keep honest with ourselves and not force the other person to embrace our culture and traditions, but to make them part of it. In my family, we have specific traditions. We’re a big family and we love gathering, we love to hug people, to be close to them, sleep next to them, touch a lot while we are talking, etc. A lot of my husband’s family don’t like big reunions or any of these things. I started to restrict myself and change to fit them, but it created a big issue because I was not happy. Eventually, we both said what we were and weren’t comfortable doing and we both said we’d do certain things but not others – it doesn’t mean I don’t like your friends or love you family, but I’ll keep my distance or I’ll join in, but we shouldn’t force each other. My culture has a tendency to please people, for example giving the choice of pizza and pasta for dinner and I want pasta but he says pizza and I have pizza even though I don’t want it. Communication is so important, my husband used to communicate in a short way which made me feel like he was upset, but it was just the way he communicates where I like to know why it’s a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’ and go into detail. BEST MOMENTS ‘When you start a relationship with someone that comes from a completely different background and culture, the key for me is not to lose your own identity to please the other person.’ ‘Every marriage has ups and downs, and I learned this the hard way! But I’m glad I did that because now, I’m hoping our kids see that there’s a different way to do it and it will bring joy and benefits to their lives and futures in terms of relationships.’ ‘Communication is a challenge for any relationship, but inter-culturally it’s a little bit more.’ ‘It’s been a great opportunity for me to learn what I’m capable of doing in terms of learning how to live with someone and say things in a different way that mean the same.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUESTS Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 482My Cancer Was A Blessing In Disguise (Part 4) – Paul D. Lowe & Sam Hales
In this episode Paul is joined by Sam Hales, for the last in a four part episode, to talk about the most commonly used powerful three words: “Let it go”, and what they mean both in life and in recovering from cancer. KEY TAKEAWAYS Most of us go through huge traumatic events in our younger lives that we carry around with us and, if it’s not addressed, then it shows itself in physical form like I believe mine did in cancer and other ways as well. It gets to a point when you come to deal with your traumas and your hurt that you literally do have to let it go or it will keep on growing. From diagnosis I had to change my whole lifestyle, which I think everybody should address. But I also permitted myself some time to find out exactly who I was, and from that I believe that because I was so stripped back of everything and naked, and this façade I was carrying around that I wanted people to know me as was gone, I was literally stripped back bare to the essence of who I was and I had to accept that There was also a spiritual element where I was trying to find my sole purpose and I was subconsciously asking myself where I go from here because I’m at a pivotal point in my life and I’m clearly not happy. Where do I go from here? In the process of trial and error, trying new things and speaking to different people, I learned I love learning the many ways in which we can heal ourselves. Cancer was definitely a blessing in disguise because now I truly believe I’m on the path I was meant to be on. BEST MOMENTS ‘We tend to punish ourselves a lot, especially as Mums, for the silliest of things. Sometimes you have to let it go and say “there’s nothing I can do about it, see you later!” We can’t hold onto our past traumas and hurt otherwise it will keep coming up and presenting itself.’ ‘I love bringing people together for the purpose of healing, for the purpose of raising the vibration of the planet, it makes my heart and soul sing.’ ‘It makes me happy to make other people happy and change their life by offering sound healing, kinesthesiology, shamanic healing, etc so their souls can ascend to their next soul purpose.’ ‘We’re all here for a reason, we’re all here for a purpose.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Sam Hales’ aim is to use treatments for healing, body maintenance, relaxation, to boost your immune system and make you feel really good! Ep 481Getting To Know You – Paul D. Lowe & Andrew Lenzo
Paul is joined once more by Andrew Lenzo, the owner of 303 Media and host of The Lenzo Media Podcast, to talk about getting to know each other, striking up conversations with people – sometimes strangers – that come with a certain energy. KEY TAKEAWAYS You shouldn’t judge people based on what they look like or where you think they come from. You really have to get to know a person, especially today when it’s so easy to travel and to really be your authentic self, it’s such a stupid thing to do, to have so many preconceptions ahead of meeting somebody. We still find ways to bring in discourse to things like football and hockey, for example, something that’s entertainment, something you watch to escape from your day-to-day. You find an allegiance to your group, even if it makes no sense, it’s very easy to get caught up in that. Everyone is looking for some kind of culture to identify with, for a feeling of not being alone, especially in the United States. The most solidly formed opinions come from people who challenge their own beliefs and opinions. The more you challenge it, the more you’re going to rethink your psyche and what you believe in it. But the only way to do that is to open yourself up to criticism and listen to others opinions that challenge yours. A lot of people like to surround themselves with like-minded people and thoughts and not challenge their beliefs. But to push yourself and find your strong psyche you have to challenge yourself and be open to that criticism. When he pandemic happened, a lot of people for the first time in a long time could just sit and think, they were at home with their families – or they were alone – and being able to sit and reflect on where you are in life and what you want out of life really did good for a lot of people in terrible circumstances. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and burned out by work, take the time, take a few days, don’t go watch TV, turn it and your computer off, take a notebook and sit down and really think about where you’re at and where you’re going to be. Why do you do the work that you do? What are you accomplishing? Why is it important to the world? What impact will it leave on the world after you’re gone? That’s a very important thing to focus on, especially if you’re that busy and you’re dedicating that much time to your work. BEST MOMENTS ‘One thing that we talk about as podcasters is the importance of listening and letting the person across from you talk.’ ‘As you get older and the more you put yourself out there the easier it is to forget about those judgments.’ ‘A lot of us are just trying to get by, working lots of hours to put food on the table and keep a roof over our heads. But I do believe that you owe it to yourself to challenge your beliefs and to really figure out who you are as a person.’ ‘I feel like it’s healthy to have a certain amount of ego, to believe in yourself and have self-confidence. But it can be a very selfish and unhealthy thing to have in some contexts.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Before the pandemic, Andrew and his friend Austin were working as journalists at their college newspaper. Often underfunded and overlooked by major players at the university, they were forced to think outside the box when it came to funding. “How can we get the most exposure for stories that had, and still have, a major impact on people in the community without ruining the integrity of our publication? Members of the community often used their paper to make major political and social decisions that have a huge impact on the direction of the city and its citizens. “How can you make an informed decision when there’s no independent news outlet giving you the facts?” That’s where 303 Media started. In the musky, dirty, and damp offices of King Hall. Since graduating, they’ve continued that promise to empower those who don’t think they have the resources to take the next step. Today, small businesses are fighting for exposure more than ever. Small businesses make up 99.9% of all businesses in the United States, yet corporations account for 62% of all revenues. Online review platforms, search engines, and social media are the customer’s go-to source for information when learning about a new business. 91% of customers will visit a store because of an online experience. It’s not easy to stay competitive in this landscape, but 303 Media is sticking to the mission. Website: https://303media.net/ AB

Ep 480Success And The Soulful Leader – Paul D. Lowe & Ravi Nair
On this episode Paul is joined by returning guest, Ravi Nair to talk about success and the Soulful Leader which goes on a few tangents and areas of conversation. KEY TAKEAWAYS A soulful leader is a universal citizen who doesn't care about borders, colour, gender, age, ability or disability. You can only change the world when you have this kind of ideology. If you’re doing something in your life out of your own choice – be that homemaker, salesman, podcaster – then you can consider yourself successful. When you do something by choice your heart and soul are involved which means you are experiencing success every day. Success has a lot to do with patience. If you are patient with yourself you have confidence. If you start showing patience with people who are close to you when they mess up or make a mistake it comes across as love. When you show patience with people who aren’t close to you, you reflect respect. When you show patience with God, even when things are going wrong, it reflects faith. BEST MOMENTS ‘Success is an experience, it’s not an end outcome for us.’ ‘A soulful leader is someone who sits on a chair which has four legs made up of confidence, love, respect and faith. All these stem from patience.’ ‘Most people think the only way to the top is alone, nobody thinks of taking their team along with them. Soulful leaders are absolutely about comradeship, anybody who goes through our training of social leadership will definitely experience love at the top, not lonely.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST As the Founder and CEO of Rich Minds, Ravi is fondly known as a Mind Architect amongst his colleagues, friends, clients and fellow beings. Ep 479You Don’t Need Money To Be Wealthy (Part 3) – Paul D. Lowe & Keith Amoss
On this episode Paul is joined by returning guest Keith Amoss for the third of their three-part series of episodes. This time Keith asks Paul about his relationship with his dog during the tumultuous period of his early life and how he got out of that lifestyle. KEY TAKEAWAYS All we had when I was about 6 or 7 was jam sandwiches for tea and a football. My dog, Rocky, and I would spend hours playing football and we had an amazing relationship. This connection with these beautiful souls that other people call animals, I call them souls. It happened on a train recently where a strange dog kept jumping up on my lap and staring into my eyes. It was a beautiful connection between two souls. In my world I’ve come to know that deep connections come from Source. I feel that we’re like mobile phones: We ‘re great communicators, we’ve got this gadgetry inside called a mind and it’s capable of amazing things. Sooner or later though, when we’re living with me, myself and I, the battery is going to die and all that gadgetry becomes irrelevant until we plug it back in to an external power. Then we’re good to go, we’re energised and recharged. At 13 and a half I attempted suicide. Reflecting and learning from that I realised why I was here. Every time, no matter which angle we look at it, love is the answer. Coming from the conditioning and the background that I did within a very strong masculine energy, for a guy to start talking about love, you’d be called soft. The guys who used to drink and fight hard have grown up. Love is the answer, and it will come in many different forms. A lot is said about the need for self-love first, I don’t buy that, it’s not that black and white, sometimes we’re like a line of dominoes and somebody just needs to come along and knock that first domino over and everything will catapult from that. BEST MOMENTS ‘I believe in the concept of twin flames – it’s further than a soul mate, it’s almost a Mills & Boon two people stare across a room at one another and there’s a massive connection (not attraction).’ ‘We can do amazing things at a superficial level on our own, but to have energetic input from Source, it’s like rocket fuel. That’s love.’ ‘Nature has decided the kind of hairstyle I have!’ ‘Once you’re open to surrendering to and acceptance of love you can let it go and drop the mask and you can be vulnerable and ask for help.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST After some years working for the UK Government in London’s Whitehall, Keith moved overseas and into the world of international organisations. Ep 478Relationship To Spirit – Bob Conlin
On this episode guest host Bob Conlin presents another of his relationship episodes, this time he talks about his relationships to spirit/God/the universe/the divine/whatever you want to call it. He thinks it’s an important conversation to have as we’re all spiritual beings having a human experience and whatever your relationship is to spirit, he feels and believes there’s a lot of power in nurturing and developing that relationship. KEY TAKEAWAYS There’s a distinction to be made around religion and spirituality. One can be religious and not really that spiritual, and one can be spiritual and not really that religious. For me it’s an important distinction to have because I grew up in a household of practising Catholics. When my Dad died I very much blamed the Catholic God for that and that really destroyed my relationship to spirit. Through me living my life and almost losing my life through horrible addiction to drugs and alcohol, I was reintroduced to spirit, not religion, and I was able to create my own concept of a higher power and God and I’m so grateful that I was able to do so. I was at the bottom of my life, I had nowhere else to turn, there was nothing left. So, I surrendered to the possibility that there was something outside of myself to believe in and connect with, and it kind of felt ridiculous and I felt like a fool for believing it. My self-sufficiency and reliance on my own will power was all I ever knew. But, this prevented me from asking for help when I really needed it the most. It almost killed me. I was stealing, lying, doing things I would never dream of doing now. I was totally sick and living a life my heart knew was wrong, but my head was constantly feeding me addiction and constantly taking me into further bad decisions and actions. In hindsight I can see that I wasn’t willing to start my healing journey and the pain and trauma was festering inside me and I was using drugs and alcohol to medicate that pain and distract myself from it. I was out of control, consumed by fear, unable to ask for help and I was just a few days away from a likely and unplanned lethal overdose. Speaking about this now terrifies me that I was that man at one time, who could go to those lengths of dread and despair. Wherever you are in your relationship to spirit; know that it’s worth seeking. There is power in having a relationship to spirit. There is a sense of connection that comes with cultivating a relationship to spirit. Look at where there might be gaps and how you are nurturing that relationship. It doesn’t have to be hard, just allow it. BEST MOMENTS ‘Wherever you’re at to something outside yourself, whatever you call it, this is a conversation about spirituality, not religion.’ ‘The hardest lesson I had to learn was how to ask for help. I thought I’d be able to figure it out on my own one day, eventually, but that day never came. I’m so grateful for those that saw my pain and had an intervention for me. It’s been close to 15 years since I stopped abusing drugs and alcohol, but that man is still inside of me.’ ‘My own relationship to spirit and spiritual practice could be mirrored by any relationship that I’ve had. At times I feel supported and basking in the glory of divine intervention, other times I feel alone, afraid and disconnected from the universe/spirit/God or whatever you want to call it..’ ‘You’re never not connected, you’re always connected to spirit, you are spirit.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 477My Cancer Was A Blessing In Disguise (Part 3) – Paul D. Lowe & Sam Hales
In this episode Paul is joined by Sam Hales, for the third in a four part episode, to discuss a four letter word that came up at the end of the last episode: “Love”. KEY TAKEAWAYS I had no love, I didn’t know what love was, I wasn’t willing to accept love, I had zero self-worth, I didn’t realise the importance of love. But, with cancer being the blessing in disguise that it was, I then realised and learned that it’s actually all about love. Everything starts with love and, if you don’t have it, something will always present itself to make you realise that you actually need it, you need to go and look for it and you need to practice self-love to start with. When cancer presents itself there’s an element of the family coming together to support and stand strong together and love is all around. Before cancer, it was let’s go party, let’s work, let’s just live absent mindedly and not address the real issues which is having fun together and without substances because they mask what really needs to be addressed. Self-love is learned, but if we don’t have that love we are robots, a shell we are dysfunctional without it. Then we go through these big traumatic events in our lives, discover that love is all it’s about and then things just gradually start falling into place. We start feeling the warmth and we start feeling happy within ourselves and when we start feeling that happiness and our vibration is raised a little bit and things start to go well – we get good jobs, or welcome people into our lives who match that vibration and are good people. It all starts with a little even where love is shown. I was a very angry person at a young age, I hated the world and the world around me, I would drink to mask it and abuse substances, going with people to find what I thought was love at the time but wasn’t. The “walking wounded” are the people that are walking around not knowing that they need love, not understanding that to improve the quality of their life they have to learn to love themselves, show love and accept love as well. BEST MOMENTS ‘With the absence of love we are not contributing to the world.’ ‘It’s about letting go of business, money and everything else and it's about being together and feeling that loving energy of everybody around you and their vibrations. That’s where the real healing starts.’ ‘I have to go through these things to learn the big lessons later on.’ ‘Why is every single one of us going through these terrible traumas to find love? It should really start with love from birth.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Sam Hales’ aim is to use treatments for healing, body maintenance, relaxation, to boost your immune system and make you feel really good! Ep 476Giving Unsung Heroes Greater Visibility – Paul D. Lowe & Noha Hefny
On this episode Paul is joined by returning guest, Noha Hefny, to talk more about unsung heroes. This time they discuss how to give unsung heroes greater visibility and how they should be rewarded. KEY TAKEAWAYS There are many stories of unsung heroes that have an opportunity to gain the attention of editors of media organisations around the world. Media has a great role to play in bringing much needed visibility to these stories. Organisations need to reward behaviours rather than big rewards and outcomes. Recognising people on the basis of values, integrity, actions that they take selflessly. These things should have their own dedicated awards. Young people are stepping up to make a difference more and more but are often unable to receive the recognition for their efforts or even their ideas. Their ideas can change the world. I’m extremely passionate about the role of youth in advancing sustainable development and we have a great responsibility to go to greater lengths to mentor, develop and build a future generation that is socially responsible, equipped, enabled and empowered to take action on key issues facing the world. The way we interact with nature is important. As human beings we have an instinct to be selfish and take things for granted, especially things we don’t have to pay for or invest a lot of effort in, whether that’s water or the air that we breathe. These are things that we’ve taken for granted for a very long time and there are some people who are bravely stepping up to save our planet, to address climate change, to protect nature and animals that are going extinct. This is the basic ecosystem of our lives, if we don’t protect nature and the environment, I don’t know how we’ll survive as the human race. BEST MOMENTS ‘In recent years we’ve been witnessing around the world a rising consciousness, a deeper yearning to connect with human values. This is something that should be captured by brands, the media, anyone who is involved in storytelling.’ ‘We as people need to remember to be kind to others and recognise others in our communities that are doing things for their communities without expecting anything in return and taking time to express love and gratitude within our communities.’ ‘Mothers are definitely unsung heroes. Mothers make incredible sacrifices for their children and trade-offs to raise a generation of healthy, productive members of society.’ ‘The youth are the future and the leaders of tomorrow and it is our responsibility to bring the best of that and channel their energy in a positive direction if we want to see a better world.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Founder & CEO, People of Impact, a social impact innovation platform and network helping people and organisations deliver social impact and advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Ep 475My Most Important Messages To The World (Part 1)– Paul D. Lowe & Avery Thatcher
On this episode Paul is joined by Avery Thatcher to talk about Avery’s most important message that she wants to impart to the world. KEY TAKEAWAYS It’s about cultivating curiosity. No matter what life throws at you, if you’re able to distance yourself from the emotions and the feelings and come back to a place of curiosity, then you don’t feel stuck and you can explore options of how you can move forward. It’s truly the essence of resilience. We’re exposed to so many bits of information every second and our body has to interpret that very quickly, so we rely on habits and pre-programmed beliefs and who we think we are in order to move through life without being completely overwhelmed by all of that. That’s where we need to understand our general patterns to know if it’s something we want to continue or if it’s something we need to explore and maybe re-programme. I’ve made a lot of changes recently. Growing up as a sensitive person, I was frequently told that my emotions and my depths of emotion was wrong, challenged other people and was unsafe to express, so I rejected a lot of who I was growing up to the point where I was so emotionally numb that I tolerated a lot of behaviour that I shouldn’t have. The idea of affirmations, kissing the mirror or giving yourself a high five in the morning to start the day really doesn’t resonate with me because my body and mind would hear that thought and say “nope!” I recommend to people like me trying “what if-irmations”: instead of saying I am enough, I am beautiful, say what if I am enough, what if I have a beautiful day. That hijacks the part of your brain that would dismiss it and allows you to explore the idea. I was born as Heather. Overnight I developed a chronic illness and physical disability that changed so much of what and who I saw myself and how I saw myself in this body. For 18 months I came to terms with that and thought about how I would heal and what I could no longer do. Eventually I came to the decision that I needed a fresh start to move forward, so I changed my first name and became Avery. The moment I decided to do that all of the PTSD dreams stopped, a lot of the anxiety went away and I finally felt at home in my body again after feeling it didn’t belong to me for a year and a half. BEST MOMENTS ‘Our curiosity is trained out of us, we learn how to act a certain way and assign meaning to our thoughts. We need to reconnect to the true self because we are not our thoughts, we are the thinker of our thoughts.’ ‘I start off every morning by dancing like a free woman to whichever song comes up on my playlist, it starts the day in a really playful space and I enjoy it.’ ‘Think outside the social norms, those may not be serving you any more.’ ‘When we start to let go of the idea of self it becomes a lot easier to trust because, if there’s nothing left to protect, what are you afraid of?’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Avery Thatcher says: The truth is I’ve never really felt like Heather, but then I know it’s normal to not always like your name. Over the course of my life, I’ve walked through a lot of struggle and trauma which changed me over time. This gradual change is something that I think we can all relate to and is just a part of the human experience. However, on December 25, 2018 I experienced a massive change in my life that happened literally overnight. I was working 12 hour shift work in a pediatric ICU and I was coming off the night shift and I remember the Charge Nurse coming up to me and saying “Heather, you really don’t look good. I’m going to mark you down as sick tonight. Feel better!” I went home and slept for 20 hours straight. And I did that the next day. And the day after that. After nearly a year of painful medical procedures, surgery to remove a thyroid mass and half my thyroid, and multiple specialists investigations and tests, it was determined that I was now the proud owner of a chronic illness and permanent disability known as Myalgic Encephalomylitis. (I call this part of me Emmy – get it? M.E. Emmy? I thought I was clever) I worked hard for nearly three years to get back to some form of normal, and in September 2021 I realised that was never going to happen. I was no longer Heather. I was no longer a Registered Nurse capable of working in an ICU. I was no longer able to be as active as I was used to being. I was no longer the weight I was used to being. I was no longer the person I was

Ep 474You Don’t Need Money To Be Wealthy (Part 2) – Paul D. Lowe & Keith Amoss
On this episode Paul is joined by returning guest, Keith Amoss who asks Paul some questions around a recent topic that Paul has become very fond of discussing over the last few months: Soulful leaders, and what that term means to Paul, before hitting on what his favourite music is, who has had the biggest impact on his life and much more. KEY TAKEAWAYS The world is changing, energetically, and I’m changing as well, and I’m starting to align with people with a certain energy and love which they are leading from inside, rather than the old fear-driven model of everything is money-driven, bottom-line profit. There’s a more holistic approach now around “people, not profit”. They’re leading by example rather than saying “do what I say not as I do”. My favourite music is ballads. I love the soul searching around love, because it’s been such a massive influence on my world, as it is in all our worlds. One of my favourite songs from the past is David Cassidy’s ‘Daydreamer’! What I’ve learned over the years is to let it go, drop the mask and be vulnerable. Males tend to have a problem with that. Brian Clough, ex-manager of Nottingham Forest FC for 18 years was phenomenal. For me he breezed into the club in 1975, when my own world was at the height of its turbulence. I didn’t know I was looking for a father figure – because the males in my life left a lot to be desired – but I was mesmerised by his outspokenness. Somehow, at the age of 15, before I even knew the word, I had an intuition that there was something about this guy that I deeply connected with. He was a master philosopher about the game of life, he was ahead of his time. There is only one language: The language of love. Money doesn’t make my world go round. If you’ve got love, you’re a multi-trillionaire. BEST MOMENTS ‘The world is changing, it’s reached a stage of its development – especially with the younger generation, they’re having none of it. If I had a pound foe every time I’ve heard this from young people: “We don’t want fat, middle-aged politicians telling us how to run our life, because they haven’t got a clue.” They’re looking for something new.’ ‘I think young people are amazing, and their energy and innovation that they bring to the world. But, the old guard is not going to go down without a fight.’ ‘Our vulnerability is our strength if you have the courage to wear your heart on your sleeve and tell people how much you, not just care about them, but love them.’ ‘Perception is all there is.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST After some years working for the UK Government in London’s Whitehall, Keith Amoss moved overseas and into the world of international organisations. Ep 473Heartbreak Is A Gift– Bob Conlin Part 1
On this episode guest host Bob Conlin presents another of his relationship episodes, this time he talks to us – from his perspective – at two o’clock in the morning because he couldn’t sleep. The topic of heartbreak is on his mind and heart, having been reminded of previous heartbreak in his life through a client of his who is currently going through a breakup. KEY TAKEAWAYS Heartbreak is one of the biggest gifts that we can use to catalyse change in our life and relationships. It hurts, it can suck and it can be really hard, but when we’re ready to see the possibility in it there’s a lot of gold there. Heartbreak is an invitation to allow and embrace all the heartbreak, to step into it 100% and allow your heartbreak to happen freely. You might currently be going through a heartbreak episode, you might still be connected to a past heartbreak. Whatever it is and wherever you’re at, my invitation to you is to step 100% into it and feel every bit of it, every corner of your torn apart, weeping heart, the dark, the shielded, angry, devastated, “I will never love again” brokenness of it all. Feel it, sob, scream until your throat hurts, cry, whatever, get so angry you see red, swear off love forever, get it out, feel it. Feel the thoughts of how it went, how you’ll never get over this, or how you were so stupid and blind to let this happen to you. When you think you’re done, go back in and feel more of it. Remember the first time your heart was broken. How did it go? How does it feel now? It took time but most of us get better most of the time on our own. Your heartbreak didn’t last forever, so this won’t last forever. You may need to seek professional help from a therapist, a coach or a doctor to prescribe medical treatment, but you will get over it. It may be a little hard in the meantime but allow this heartbreak to happen completely and just embrace it. Time will heal your wounds. Heartache is a catalyst for change in your relationships. It can give you the opportunity to look at what worked, what didn’t, who you were being that may have caused or contributed to this – not from a place of blame or shame, but from a place of curiosity. Where can you grow from this experience? Embrace kit and learn from it and grow from it. The wisdom you will generate from your broken heart will support you in every relationship you have moving forward. How could it not? BEST MOMENTS ‘Always look at the opportunity, always see what’s possible in our challenges and in our lives.’ ‘In my previous relationships and heartbreaks, I would look at how I caused it or how what I did/didn’t do created this experience for me. Which is not always totally fair to oneself, but there are two inputs in any relationship and it’s important to own your part of it, but you don’t have to take 100% responsibility for it.’ ‘I’m sorry this is happening to you, if you’re in this process, it will get better even though you may not believe it will, it does.’ ‘Heartbreak for me is such a physical manifestation. That hollowness and emptiness inside my chest. The hollowness was deafening and all consuming, there’s so much despair. But ultimately what I wanted to share was how much of a gift heartbreak is and can be.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 472My Cancer Was A Blessing In Disguise (Part 2) – Paul D. Lowe & Sam Hales
In this episode Paul is joined by Sam Hales, for the second in a four part episode, to discuss some topics that came up when she was talking about how her cancer was a blessing in disguise. KEY TAKEAWAYS I’d still have played my diagnosis in the same way, where I was maintaining a façade on the outside, because you’re going through the trauma inside which will still come out and you’re going to have to deal with it at some point. Over the last year I’ve definitely been dealing with the past trauma of the diagnosis, going through the chemo, the tests and the surgeries. It’s definitely good to keep a brave face and maintain an air of being strong. I was the head of our family in Spain. I had to organise and arrange everything. We had commitments at home with the business, we were working 14 hours a day, we had a lot of animals at home to take care of, and I had to run everything. I couldn’t show any sign of weakness because If I broke down everything else would as well and I couldn’t have that. I felt disappointment within myself because I’m responsible for my own health. That happened because of something I hadn’t dealt with, because of my diet. Our own illnesses come from inside. I felt very disappointed in myself that I had let myself go that far living the lifestyle that I was leading. Nobody can live a full life drinking as I was, smoking as I was, partying as I was, and then working 14 hour days and having a family at the same time, it’s got to break somewhere. I then had to change my perspective to see where I went wrong and how I could correct it to lead a more fulfilling life for me and my family. Change is brilliant. If you’ve got or just been diagnosed with cancer, that’s life’s way of telling you that something has to dramatically change. Change is never ever scary. It might feel scary because it’s a bit different, but once you get into the flow of the change it’s always always for the better. BEST MOMENTS ‘When I was young, my Mum always taught me not to cry or show any emotion when things were going on. It carried me through every step of the way because I knew that I wasn’t going to die and that my family was going to be OK.’ ‘To show my family I was being strong and brave gave them the strength and reassurance that everything was going to be OK.’ ‘Showing vulnerability is OK, but – in this situation, from my perspective only – I think you need to be cautious about who I showed my vulnerability to. At that stage in my life there were a lot of people I couldn’t trust.’ ‘Knowing yourself is so so important because you’ve got to know that the vulnerability energy needs to come out and you need to know how you’re going to deal with it and when you’re going to face it. You have to be proactive about it.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Sam Hales’ aim is to use treatments for healing, body maintenance, relaxation, to boost your immune system and make you feel really good! Ep 471Who Is Your Unsung Hero? – Paul D. Lowe & Noha Hefny
On this episode Paul is joined by returning guest, Noha Hefny, to talk more about unsung heroes. This time Paul asks her who her unsung hero is. KEY TAKEAWAYS There are so many unsung heroes around the world, but the category of people who really touch my heart are humanitarian workers around the world who are dedicating their lives to helping and serving different communities and selflessly living in sometimes challenging, difficult circumstances, remote areas, in conflict zones where their lives are at risk all because of their drive and passion to make a difference. These are my unsung heroes. Every one of us can do heroic acts for the service of others based on a very strong conviction. This can be ignited by anything, a small or major incident in anyone’s life. That courage to let go of thinking of the consequences of the things we do because we know we’re doing the right thing therefore you are willing to go to great lengths to do it. I believe this is inside of every human being on the planet. There’s so much pressure on us to meet expectations of so many people in our lives and so many people struggle with that and are fearful when they don’t make everybody happy, but the reality is you can’t make everybody happy. The most important thing is to make yourself happy and fulfilled with your actions and belief in what you do, who you are, how you act, behave, interact with others, that’s the starting point for any change or difference you want to make. To transform society you have to transform yourself first. The nature, creation and resources around us are there for us to enjoy and to develop and improve. This is, in my mind, the role of a human being; you have a responsibility to everything around you. It was created for you to enjoy this life and to live in it, but at the same time you have a responsibility to improve and develop it and to leave a positive impact wherever you go BEST MOMENTS ‘My grandmother raised 7 kids as a single woman after her husband died at a young age. She’s also an unsung hero but in a very different way.’ ‘It’s all about love and selflessness.’ ‘Once we break the fear we can bring our authentic self out to the world and not care so much about the outcomes of things we stand up for or decide to do. It becomes much easier for us to do things that we believe in selflessly to help others, even if people around us don’t agree with our actions.’ ‘Every small action makes a difference. It doesn’t have to be grand, it can be a simple gesture that inspires positive action.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Founder & CEO, People of Impact, a social impact innovation platform and network helping people and organisations deliver social impact and advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Ep 470What Makes A Great Leader? (Part 1) – Paul D. Lowe & David Roberts
In this episode Paul is joined by David Roberts to talk about all the things that go into making a great leader. David can be contacted via: LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-roberts-nu-heat/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/DavidRobertsPeopleWithPurpose KEY TAKEAWAYS There’s a saying: Leaders eat last. That’s because they look after themselves first. Getting the balance right of being a little bit selfish so you can be selfless and lead others well is where it all starts for me. Being a leader is about how you show up day in, day out, it’s about consistency and understanding yourself, where you’re going and where you’re looking to take the people you’re leading and knowing when you should lead in a certain scenario or where it’s right for you to step back a little bit and let them people on your team step forward and lead. A key part of leadership is recognising the strengths in others and letting them make that leadership contribution and giving them the environment to do that. There’s a big difference between faking it and knowing that you’re stretching your comfort zone. Faking it is a mistake. Having someone to talk to and share your feelings with can be helpful to get yourself into a position where you’re not faking it, you’re stretching your comfort zone and you’re getting into a state, not A state, to do what you need to do. I’m keen to make sure that there’s a good range of personality types in any team that I’m part of, and I seek to understand those personality types, those natural preferences. Some of these go on a gender continuum, some go along the introvert/extrovert continuum, some of them go along the thinkers/feelers continuum. Having a blend of all those gender and personality types in a team and being aware of the blend that you’ve got can really help you to draw on the right energies at the right time to solve the right problems. BEST MOMENTS ‘If you need to lead people you need to first think about how you’re leading yourself.’ ‘You have to be vulnerable, if you’re not you’re not being truly honest. People can tell when you’re not.’ ‘The success of a day happens the day before. If you’ve gone to bed in the wrong state, you’re likely to wake up in the wrong state and you’re going to be caught out.’ ‘Leadership is about people – how do you motivate others and create a vision that others can follow? Management is about the task and getting things done. You can’t be a heartless leader.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE HOST Paul has made a remarkable transformation from existing for many years in dark, desperate despair; to now living a really healthy, happy and fulfilling life. Ep 469You Don’t Need Money To Be Wealthy – Paul D. Lowe & Keith Amoss
On this episode Paul is joined by returning guest, Keith Amoss who asks Paul some questions around the topic of this week’s show, which is the first in a three part series: You don’t need money to be wealthy, largely through the metaphor of a football match. KEY TAKEAWAYS I try to look at life from as many different perspectives as possible and I’ve met people from all walks of life and it’s fair to say that no matter who they are or how society may judge them because of their fame, fortune, or not as the case may be, there’s lessons in there for all of us. What’s in a word? Words have energies and meaning, but they only have the meaning that we choose to give them. Events in life are neutral. I you think of a football match and one team plays in red, the other in blue, and one of them wins 1-0. The only meaning that result has to the 100,000 people watching, 50,000 supporting each side, is what those different sets of 50,000 people give it. To the winning side it’s been a great game, to the losing side, it’s a horrible game. But the result is the result is the result. This is a great metaphor for life. We’re conditioned with cliches like “better the devil you know”, “I’m a working class guy”, “girls should wear pink”, “girls shouldn’t play football”, “all rich people are crooks”, “you have to trample on people to get rich”. It can be quite difficult to overcome that. I spent decades in victimhood bemoaning what ball had been played to me and looking at how good other people seemed to have it. Wealth is usually associated with money in the bank. That is a benchmark for life that we’re taught from an early age. What I’ve learned over the years is that money is an energy – an important energy – but it’s only important predominantly because of the meaning that so many people give it. Again, we have choices of how we see that energy. For me, health, happiness, social status and love are just as important. BEST MOMENTS ‘I am something. I am nothing. I am everything.’ ‘If we focused on just developing ourselves to be the best we can be as a player in the game of life, rather than be distracted by what other players are doing, just maybe the world would become a little bit of a better place.’ ‘Life is a very simple game, but boy, do we complicate it.’ ‘By trying to help humanity to love life more, humanity then can be kinder to all beings.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST After some years working for the UK Government in London’s Whitehall, Keith Amoss moved overseas and into the world of international organisations. Ep 468Relationships: Fix vs Curiosity – Bob Conlin
On this episode guest host Bob Conlin presents another of his relationship episodes, this time he talks about conversations that have come up with his clients, especially in his men’s groups: The notion of fixing things, or ‘the big fix’. KEY TAKEAWAYS Parts of us, as individuals and in relationships may perceive as broken, wrong or hard to be with. What happens is there’s a real strong urge to fix the problems with us, that we want those things to go away. These include the problems that we perceive with our being, like getting impatient when my son cries, or I get angry at my wife when she doesn’t…, or I don’t feel I am worthy of this experience in my business, some disempowered story that you have about yourself, who you are, who you are not. With our ‘stuff’ or problems, my invitation to you is get in a better relationship with it, understand what’s actually going on with you, have some compassion for yourself and others and actually find out what will work for you in those moments where your stuff or problems come up. What’s the opportunity? Get curious about why that’s impacting you in the way it is and what’s the relationship to it that you can build that will support you? Don’t try to fix your problems, try to understand what’s actually going on with you and then to choose a way of being that is aligned with what you’re committed to in your life and your relationships. BEST MOMENTS ‘What do we do with problems? We like to fix them. Especially men.’ ‘I sometimes like to try to fix my wife’s problem for her, even when she hasn’t asked, and you can imagine how well that’s gone over!’ ‘What do you need at the moment? Ask for it.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 467My Cancer Was A Blessing In Disguise (1) – Paul D. Lowe & Sam Hales
In this episode Paul is joined by Sam Hales to talk about a very poignant topic that she was involved in personally, and how her cancer was a blessing in disguise. KEY TAKEAWAYS About 4 years ago, I was living in Spain and building a business with my ex-partner, we were a couple of years into running an English school there for Spanish students from the ages of 3-63. I became ill and really tired for unknown reasons. No doctor could find what was wrong with me. I was told I was working too hard and needed to rest. One day I passed out, which was unlike me, real shortness of breath. I was taken to hospital where an x-ray revealed I had a 10cm tumour on my lungs which was restricting them. I experienced a complete mixture of emotions, especially strong disbelief because you never think it’s going to happen to you. I had a young son who was almost 2 and we were building our lives there, it was the worst time for this to happen. But I took it on the chin and accepted it for what it was. I had to prepare myself mentally and physically. I had to change my diet, my whole lifestyle and my whole attitude of how to approach this. I was lucky to have a gentleman in the room next door whose Mum was in and really sick and he was so lovely. He was there listening to everything, he spoke really good English, and he asked me if I was OK. If he wasn’t there, there was a good chance I’d have sat there and cried. Instead I had to maintain an air of “everything’s fine”… which is very much a British thing. BEST MOMENTS ‘The surgeons told me I “met the demographic for this kind of cancer”, which I thought was a strange thing to say.’ ‘At first they told me I had lymphoma and I didn’t know what that was. They didn’t give me the full diagnosis at first because they had to do a lot more tests, then they told me what else needed to happen and that I had cancer.’ ‘We’ve been brought up with adverts on TV that portray cancer as a terminal disease and that it means automatic death if we ever hear that word. A lot less people are dying from cancer nowadays though, there’s not as much need to be as fearful of it as there once was because there are many ways to kill it.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Sam Hales’ aim is to use treatments for healing, body maintenance, relaxation, to boost your immune system and make you feel really good! Ep 466Are Unsung Heroes Born Or Made? – Paul D. Lowe & Noha Hefny
Paul is joined by returning guest Noha Hefny to continue their discussion around whether unsung heroes are born or made. KEY TAKEAWAYS I can’t answer this question directly with one word. What differentiates unsung heroes from other heroes is that some people do heroic acts or acts that deserve recognition as a duty or an obligation, but for unsung heroes it’s a necessity. They serve, and it’s never calculated and there’s never an expectation of a return. There is one example that comes to mind from the pandemic. There were people from less developed countries carrying vaccines on their back to take them to people who didn’t have access to them. Nobody asked these people to do that but they felt responsible to ensure that people in their community had access to the vaccine, they provided that safety, that’s a heroic act, to walk miles carrying the vaccine or water to ensure that people are safe and healthy. Unsung heroes don’t fear disapproval or speaking up for what they stand for, they don’t run away in the face of conflict. They are willing to put in limitless amounts of time, including sleepless nights in order to undertake that particular effort. They put others before themselves. This can be nurtured and something that can be developed over time if we really have the resolve to do something. The values of a would-be unsung hero are: a very strong idea of ethics and morality, always wanting to do the right thing, determination, passion and conviction, courage, determination, standing up for what is wrong, outspoken and moral. BEST MOMENTS ‘For some people it’s part of their makeup, who they are. But others may have gone through a downturn in their life and as a result they start reflecting on how they could be of service and how they can make a difference and they go through a transformation journey that leads them to serve their community without expectation.’ ‘Any unsung hero is delivering actions selflessly in the service of community/the world on the basis of necessity and they expect nothing in return.’ ‘For unsung heroes there is a sense of courage, ownership or responsibility that plays in. There is a sense of belief, faith, perseverance, and resolve to solve something. Without those components not everyone can be an unsung hero.’ ‘They are role models using themselves and their personalities to make a difference.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Founder & CEO, People of Impact, a social impact innovation platform and network helping people and organisations deliver social impact and advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Ep 465What Is A Soulful Leader? – Paul D. Lowe & Ravi Nair
Paul is joined by returning guest Ravi Nair to talk about what exactly a soulful leader is, as the pair of them are co-founders of an organisation called ‘Soulful Leaders’. KEY TAKEAWAYS When I was growing up I used to play musical chairs and that game taught me that to win I had to knock somebody off their chair. As I grew up, I made some mistakes in my life. I was knowingly or unknowingly involved in playing politics because leadership was important to me. I think that happens to a lot of people when they are chasing a position or a title. Soulful leaders are different: Rather than being in charge of people it’s about how you work with people. Everybody is a born leader, but over a period of time a transition happens, as an influence of the environment or the people around you, everybody tries to influence you with their own leadership styles. If something worked for somebody in their life they push it on you and you adopt it, like aggression making you successful. A soulful leader doesn’t have to be leading a group of people, they can simply be leading themselves. If you are able to lead yourself you will be doing a whole lot of good for the entire world. You have to lead yourself to think rationally and make rational decisions, to not be judgemental of people, to manage your own emotions. People will emulate you as a leader, you will become a role model for people. Traditional leaders who say “do as I say””, but soulful leaders say “do as I do”. I would rather follow a soulful leader, they don’t have a fear of compromising, failing or losing. BEST MOMENTS ‘Traditional leadership defines leadership on an external level, like what’s the journey and what will you achieve at the end? Soulful leaders go a bit more internal, what do you become as a human being at the end of the journey? What you become defines the next journey for you.’ ‘Soulful leadership is about reprogramming people.’ `We go to business courses at university and they teach us patience as a leader. Just look at your mother, she’s a mobile university student roaming the house. You just have to watch her and how she manages when there’s no money or when your dad comes home from a bad day. How does she handle this issue? She does a balancing act. Mothers are soulful leaders.’ ‘Your circumstances may not allow you to be one, but everybody has the desire to be a soulful leader.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST As the Founder and CEO of Rich Minds, Ravi is fondly known as a Mind Architect amongst his colleagues, friends, clients and fellow beings. Ep 464Money Won't Bring My Daughter Back (2) – Paul D. Lowe & Leah Morgan
Paul is joined by Leah Morgan for the second of a two-part episode which is a very poignant one. Leah shares some experiences and lessons she and her family have been through since she tragically lost her daughter to leukaemia. KEY TAKEAWAYS Maggie has had this almighty ripple effect and, a bit like water, it can be gentle as it trickles down a stream but over time the power of that gentle persistent flow can break down rock. I really hope that little Maggie has put my son Mason, who is 21 and at uni, on a life’s course where it’s not all about money and how to accrue things. I hope that his idea of wealth and what he’s going to do with these amazing years of his life is about living fully and going into a career that lights him up because he knows how precious life is. The impacts it had on my relationships with my children and friends, some people fall away because they can’t manage or don’t know what to do, but there are some that really step forward. That’s wealth, our energy should be conserved for those relationships. In relationships it’s give and take, we support and we are supported, when I think of myself as the supporter on the side lines for my husband and my three living children my role is to remind them of the meaning of life and was it and what’s not important when they’re feeling bogged down, or connect to the joy in life and what really matter so they grow up into people that value joy and experience rather than money that’s in their bank account. BEST MOMENTS ‘I lost Maggie physically, but I haven’t lost Maggie in terms of my life. I've learned how to integrate my experiences into her ‘new’ self who I’ve brought forward in a healthy way to connect with her legacy and her lessons.’ ‘Lock-down really gave us the push to move and me and my husband thought, there’s a whole world out there, let’s go and explore something new, go and heal and find peace in the woods and by the sea in Dorset.’ ‘Dad’s can get lost into the conversations around pregnancy loss and stillbirth. We have to bring their voices in too.’ ‘Maggie has taught me the meaning of life, the meaning of loving fully.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Leah Morgan is a wellbeing consultant at 'Still We Rise Coaching'. Ep 463My First Marriage: A Cautionary Tale – Bob Conlin
On this episode guest host Bob Conlin presents another of his relationship episodes, this time he tells a cautionary tale about how he destroyed his first marriage. He shares three things that, in hindsight, he’s noticed he was doing that were not supporting what he was committed to with his first wife. KEY TAKEAWAYS While they were happening I was so in my own context and my own story about our relationship and marriage that I couldn’t see. If you’re in the jar how can you read the outside label? I was so in my experience of relationships I couldn’t see what was happening on the outside. The first thing I noticed at the beginning of the end of my marriage was resentment. Resentment is the number one offender that will destroy everything that you have. It started to pull me away from her until she became the problem for me. That’s not true, of course, but it’s how it felt at the time. I was unhappy, overworked, I needed help in lots of areas of my life and I didn’t know how to ask for it and I was using drinking and substances to self-medicate which added fuel to the fire. The second thing I noticed was that I would make her wrong. She couldn’t do anything right, from the way she cooked dinner to the way she paid our bills, you name it I had an opinion about everything. That started to rob the safety of our relationship from her which also pulled her away from me as well. In hindsight I was trying to make something safe and secure for us, but I was coming at it so sideways. The third thing was that I was pretty controlling in the sense of what she should and shouldn’t do. Not that she needed permission from me, she could do whatever she wanted to do, but I knew what was right, I knew what made her wrong and I’d also try to fix, manage and control certain situations. For example, if we were out with friends and I wanted to go but she wanted to stay I’d say she had to come home with me, I’d make her feel like she didn’t love me, respect me, how dare she, she should come home. Again, that robbed safety from her and in hindsight I can see how I created every possible opportunity from her to pull away. BEST MOMENTS ‘I just wasn’t ready to be in that level of commitment, that level of marriage and she probably wasn’t either, we were both very young when we got married.’ ‘I very much look back on my first marriage as one of the places where I learned so much about what not to do in a relationship.’ ‘That poor woman! I have a lot of empathy for her now having to be with me at that time in my life before I’d done the work I’ve done and learned more about myself as a man and in relationship is so strong. There was a time too that I really apologised as best as I could fully about how things went down. We’ve also both thanked each other too because we both learned a lot from this process.’ ‘What ultimately happened is that I was self-medicating with alcohol and substances and that really started to increase the more I was discontented, and the harder work got. I needed to get professional help and I got it, but it was the last straw for our relationship. Why is she putting up with all of this? Why would she want to help this monster? She was kind and helped through the process, but she was done and I don’t blame her for that. It was courageous for her to end that relationship and ask for a divorce.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 462Is It Healthy To Just Do As You Are Told? - Paul D. Lowe & Sharon Griffiths
Paul is joined by returning guest Sharon Griffiths to talk about whether we’re here to just do as we’re told after having a conversation a while back to which Sharon replied to Paul in this way. KEY TAKEAWAYS Curiosity plays a part in how we react to be told to “do as you’re told”. If it doesn’t make sense I wouldn’t do as I’m told, or I’d try it out. I do as I’m told until it doesn’t make sense and that’s where the curiosity comes in. I’ve learned through half a century of experience that sometimes it can lead me to where I want to go, but sometimes it doesn’t. If I do as I’m told when it doesn’t make sense, and I’ve paid that price many times, you pay the price one way or another. I test what I feel works little bit by little bit and as I build the tests up, and they work at the time, I push it a bit further. Once I jumped off the first diving board at swimming class and it was horrible. I did a belly-flop and I thought “never again”. I suppose that’s a physical example: I didn’t trust the teacher or myself and it self-actualised, it was a horrible experience. Through my career I’ve learned that people can present to you a persona that is highly wonderful and you can trust them, but you can’t read the thought bubbles in their head, so you don’t know if what they’re doing can be trusted or if you’re going to be empowered or disempowered in that process. It takes time to not just understand what they want you to do but also if they’re working in your best interest. Only by experience will you find that out. Sometimes you just have to make a leap of faith. I made a choice on the 31st March 2017 at 10:50am to either stay in my life as it was until I decided not to, or did I choose to invest in myself, in my learning and the subject that I was interested in to change my life. I gave myself 30 minutes to make that decision and as I sat there I felt my hormones rising and I took that leap of faith and went with it. I’m now further than I thought I could have been. BEST MOMENTS ‘Sometimes saying “just do as you’re told” comes from a place of exasperation. But who is it easier for?’ ‘To know we’re not to do it is not to know. If we don’t know somebody, what evidence is there to trust them?’ ‘Be complacent, do as you’re told and follow whatever they tell you. It’s much harder to do as you’re told by yourself because if you don’t trust yourself you’ve got a lot of little discussions in your head, so it’s a lot easier to do what other people say and when it doesn't work out you’ll soon find out.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Sharon Griffiths trained as a secondary school teacher as well as teaching reflexology and massage. Ep 461Are You An Unsung Hero? – Paul D. Lowe & Noha Hefny
Paul is joined again by Noha Hefny to talk about unsung heroes, what the term means to her and what makes an unsung hero. KEY TAKEAWAYS For me they are ordinary people who perhaps lack visibility, exposure, they are everyday heroes that undertake gestures and acts of kindness, generosity, impact and they inspire others to make a difference – not through big actions, but through everyday acts of kindness and generosity. They are the people who really step up during the hardest times that we face in our societies and they take the accountability and responsibility to address issues head on without really expecting any recognition. We haven’t done a good enough job yet to recognise these efforts that are really aligned with human values and are the core essence of what it means to be human and humanity. Women by nature have a nurturing nature, they feel responsible to take care of those around them. I think there are many unsung heroes who are women, for example, during the pandemic the number of nurses and teachers – the majority of which are women – these are people who selflessly worked night and day to make sure that education and health systems were not disrupted, risking their own health, wellbeing and safety for the wellbeing of others. These are definitely unsung heroes. To be fair to the men as well, there are many unsung heroes like the ones who dedicate their lives to a humanitarian career, working in conflict zones to take care of refugees or people who are struggling, these are unsung heroes as well. We need everyone to deliver what they can in order to really make a difference, at the end of the day every small action or act of kindness matters. BEST MOMENTS ‘These are selfless people who dedicate their lives every day to making a difference and impacting their communities positively, however they lack the exposure, visibility and even the interest in that. It’s a genuine authentic act that they do with zero expectations except goodwill, doing good and impacting societies and communities in a positive way.’ ‘You’re not living in isolation in the world, you have responsibility and you’re accountable for things that, without even being asked, you want to address. Most of these unsung heroes are tackling big issues as well through every day small actions, which sometimes grow into something much bigger.’ ‘To be an unsung hero you have to have courage. In the world we’re living in today women are facing inequalities, so for them to make a difference and undertake these selfless acts to help communities and the world takes a lot of courage and much more challenges and struggles than men would have to face.’ ‘An unsung hero is a reference that should be giving by others, I’d feel a bit arrogant saying I was an unsung hero!’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Founder & CEO, People of Impact, a social impact innovation platform and network helping people and organizations deliver social impact and advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Ep 460Is It Time To Kiss The Mirror? – Paul D. Lowe & Ekta Mahajan
Paul is joined by Ekta Mahajan to discuss this intriguing title that comes from Ekta’s childhood where she was told that ever time you face adversity or struggle, just look in the mirror and smile and most of your struggles will be resolved. KEY TAKEAWAYS When you look at yourself in the mirror a different kind of energy exudes, positive vibrations come out that give you a lot of strength, a lot of power and creativity to take on life. Rather than being self-critical, try to identify yourself, try to be self-aware and try to know yourself deeper. Once you know yourself then you can take on and solve any kid of mystery that you may come across. When we talk about self-love, what is love? Love is a pure, divine power which gives your immensely more fuel, it accelerates in whatever direction your want to put it. We all have got 360 degree lives, I want to segregate life into about five areas I’d like to focus: career, family, relationships, social and health. Where I focus that divine energy is the section that will flourish, but our objective is to obtain balance. You only attain that balance when you are self-aware. We only become self-aware when we delve deeper, which we do when are comfortable in our own self and skin. This is important especially for entrepreneurs or those who run their own business. We’re all just a really little speck in this universe. Do we really need to have an ego or anger and jealousy? No. If we can widen our perception and intelligence by just being what we are, I think we can probably drive the road of success. BEST MOMENTS ‘My understanding of a smile or a kiss in the mirror is about being kind to yourself.’ ‘Self-awareness allows you to take the courage to make the right decisions which ultimately result in success.’ ‘Isn’t it very profound and doesn’t it make you smile when you hear someone loves their own company? That person is comfortable in their own skin.’ ‘It’s only me that can help myself.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE HOST Paul has made a remarkable transformation from existing for many years in dark, desperate despair; to now living a really healthy, happy and fulfilling life. Ep 459Money Won't Bring My Daughter Back (1) – Paul D. Lowe & Leah Morgan
Paul is joined by Leah Morgan for the first of a two-pert episode which is a very poignant one. Leah shares some experiences and lessons she’s been through since tragically losing her daughter to Leukemia. KEY TAKEAWAYS In 2016 my daughter Maggie-Mae was born with Leukemia, it’s extremely rare to be born with Leukemia – one in five million. Every single day that Maggie had was a miracle and we only had her for 18 months, despite nearly dying so many times in those early days, so the fact she got 18 months was miraculous. She had a fun-filled, joyful life. We were sure she’d survive and have a healthy life ahead of her, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Anyone who is faced with tragic or life-changing circumstances will be able to understand, but even people who haven’t experienced these things will empathise with the fact that the world just stands still and all the things we’re striving towards suddenly become meaningless. That’s really hard to understand unless you’ve been through it. I have a life before Maggie was born and a life after she was born. My life and my perspective of life is unrecognisable. I’ve been presented with a whole new world: the beautiful cycles of nature, the joy that you see in each and every moment. Now a traffic jam isn’t a stressful thing, for me it’s a time to stop and see what’s around me, look out the window and accept that what will be will be. I’m used to surrendering my control and just accepting what life’s given me today. That really changes you. When you’ve been faced wit death and the fact life is a finite experience that can change in a moment, and as a mother trying to keep their child alive, there’s a fearlessness I’m left with. I feel like all those layers of armour that I have built up or that society puts on us, all ego- or fear-based, are burned away and you’re left with pure vulnerability. But in that state is where the power lies. BEST MOMENTS ‘In her short life, Maggie-Mae changed everyone she knew, all our lives have been changed unrecognisably.’ ‘Maggie has taught me the real value of life.’ ‘It’s really interesting when you just stop and realise how swept up in the rat race we all are.’ ‘Of course, money brings opportunities, but even more important than the money is the focus on your life’s dharma – life’s purpose.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Leah Morgan is a wellbeing consultant at Still We Rise Coaching. Ep 458Relationships: Expectations vs Agreements – with Bob Conlin
On this episode guest host Bob Conlin presents another of his relationship episodes, this time about experiences in relationships that can support us or create more conflict and challenges for us: The notion of having expectations in relationships versus agreements. KEY TAKEAWAYS We all have expectations and these thoughts and feeling of how it should go, how our feeling and thoughts of relationships should play out. Notice that word: “should”. We want to expect certain things in our lives and relationships but when we use those expectations as traps or barriers or ways to not get our needs met then we run into trouble and problems. An expectation is simply a strong belief that something will or should happen in the future, and that we will or should experience it. When this becomes an issue is when these expectations don’t get communicated, they can be a very one-sided thought/feeling/conversation with yourself that doesn’t get communicated to the other, or is not communicated in a way that the people we’re in relationship with can hear it or support you with it. If we can move out of expectation and into agreement we’re in a much better place to get our needs met. It’s less mindreading and more partnership, which is the goal for so many relationships, it’s getting into a stronger, more connected partnership in all aspects and areas of life. What do you notice about the expectations that you place on yourself, your romantic partner, your family members, etc. Look at how it’s working out, how are you left feeling, how are they left feeling, what is their experience of you, what is your experience of yourself, are these expectations actually working for you? Then look at what if you created agreements inside you’re your relationships. How do we want to love each other, how do we want to co-parent, how do we want to move this organisation together, how do we want to focus on this goal. It becomes very much as ‘we’ conversation and an opportunity to achieve what you wish to achieve. BEST MOMENTS ‘When we create agreements in relationships it creates much more harmony and balance and connectedness versus having expectations.’ ‘My first default response to “do you need anything?” is “nothing, I’m fine”. don’t know why I’m like that or where I learned it. It gets me in trouble and then I get upset.’ ‘Expectations are traps that we place for our partners. They are a way that we don’t get our needs met or get them met in the wrong way.’ ‘Agreement is harmony in how we feel, what we need, it’s both of us coming together to agree on something so both individuals can take an appropriate course of action, whatever that may be.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 457Good Health Being True Wealth, Isn't Just A Cliche - Paul D. Lowe & Katy Viguier
On this episode, Paul is joined by returning guest Katy Viguier to talk about the cliché of whether good health really is true wealth. KEY TAKEAWAYS Health is something a lot of people take for granted and we only realise how important it is when you haven’t got it. We make bad decisions when we’re tired. Some people beat themselves up about it, but it’s really your body going into survival mode and the hormones getting balanced and you get the urge to have bad food. From experience I can see how much help a coach can bring. If I’d known the benefits earlier, I’d have gotten one when I was younger. More and more people are finding this way of getting help and there are more coaches since the pandemic as well. BEST MOMENTS ‘Good health is wellness: What you eat, what you drink, how you sleep, how you think, how you move, how you relax. It’s not just one thing, it’s a whole topic of wellness.’ ‘Confusion around dieting culture is there from a commercial point of view, you just need to go back to basics and forget fad diets.’ ‘Every action you make starts with a thought, everything you do starts with the mind. Don’t wait to start, there’s no perfect time to start.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Katy was born in Switzerland, raised in France and now lives in the south-west of England with her husband-to-be Drew, and her two wonderful sons Thomas and Alex, who are now young men – they are both her pride and joy. Ep 456Things You Don't Want To Talk About – Paul D. Lowe & Jenn Junod
On this episode, Paul in joined by Jenn Junod to talk about the things people don’t want to talk about, of which (dark and colourful), Jenn has an abundance of experience with in her background including abuse (physical, emotional and sexual), depression and anxiety. KEY TAKEAWAYS My trauma stemming from physical, emotional an sexual abuse, which started as a kid, lasted in to my 20s. I wanted to give up on everything but I was able to start surrounding myself with a different crowd of humans that invited me to self-development courses and that started to change the trajectory of my life. People had no idea that I went through these things because I was ten times more bubbly and wanting people to like me, so they never imagined I went through anything. I’d also try to buy my friends because I couldn’t conceive how anybody would want to be my friend because at the time I had no self-worth because of all the emotional abuse I went through, being told I was unworthy. The coping methods we come up with to get through these things doesn't always help us as adults. I never learned boundaries, so I never knew that someone was taking advantage of me because I was a people pleaser. I wanted to buy my friendships and do anything for my friendships because I felt unloved. That attracted people that would take advantage of me. I didn’t understand the dynamics of relationships, I thought that if I was being treated well it was boring and that meant I wasn’t in the right relationship because there was no controversy or tension. It’s almost as if we don’t know better, therefore we attract it without meaning to. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel of working through that and finding and attracting better. My career coach had me write out columns of everything I liked and disliked about my job and what I was and wasn’t looking for in a new job. He helped me look at all of my negatives to see where they aligned with my positives and how to change all of the negatives into positives so I knew what to look for rather than what not to look for. This mindset changed the things that I was attracted to. BEST MOMENTS ‘There’s no hierarchy to trauma, everybody’s is very very different, no one wins at trauma, it’s not a competition.’ ‘I was a serial monogamist. I went from relationship to relationship to relationship because I felt that if I was alone I would always be alone.’ ‘Becoming stronger in a video game made me strong enough to get a divorce, to be able to work on myself and not just put everything into others.’ ‘Now when my partner (who I love) fights, I realise I’m not fighting with him, I’m fighting with an emotion that happened when I was 15 or 8 that I never learned how to get through.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Jenn has a story of her own. As a child, she suffered solitary confinement, physical abuse, mental abuse, sexual abuse, rape, divorce, abortion, cutting, and suicide attempts. Her turbulent background has forged a path to help those who are suffering, ignored and silenced. Sh!t You Don’t Want to Talk About is a place people can come to find hope and healing, to know they are not alone, and to finally be heard. Clearly, Jenn’s been through plenty of sh!t most people probably don’t want to even acknowledge, let alone talk about. She thought she’d dealt with her past, but brain surgery in November 2020 unleashed a tsunami of memories that couldn’t be ignored. Working through trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar type 2, and ADHD will be a lifelong journey. Jenn strives to break the stigma of Sh!t You Don't Talk About and turn it into Sh!t 2 Talk About. Ep 455What Relationship Did I Sign Up For? – Bob Conlin & Kev Bailey
On this episode guest host Bob Conlin is joined by guest Kev Bailey – a kinesiologist, crystal healer, spiritual healer and shamanic healer – to talk about our relationship with everything and the lessons learned from past romantic relationships. Kev’s website: https://www.theuncommonheartfelttouch.com/ KEY TAKEAWAYS I definitely do believe we’re related to everything, and even little things that we do and thoughts we put out there the whole universe has to shift to consolidate whatever it is you’re thinking about or have done. Somebody said to me recently that I was coming to a fork in the road and that I’d have to make the correct choice and go with my heart. My girlfriend made the choice for me and, as hard as that was, you just have to accept and let it go because, at the end of the day, if it wasn’t working out for her and she decided to end it there’s no point trying to force things. You do get a bit upset, it’s like grief really, you’ve had a relationship for 6 years, but once you get over that grief point and you sit and reflect about your part in your downfall and you realise what they are and the lessons, hopefully you can take the other fork which is taking you in the right direction, wherever that may lead. Hopefully, the next time you get in a relationship you’re a bit older and wiser and you might not stuff-up the same way you did in the last one. It’s amazing what our brains do to our bodies and how they mess us up by holding on to trauma. That’s why you get people with addictions to food, gambling, alcohol and drugs. They can’t deal with their emotions so most of the time they’re trying to escape and that’s their way to do it. Self-harm, anorexia and bulimia are the same sort of thing. But when you release the triggers for those addictions then technically those addictions should go away. When I self-heal, I go into a meditative state and have a look at my life, where the regrets and mistakes or lessons are, and work things through and forgive and apologise – if you can’t do it to the person in-person, you can do it energetically. Sometimes you don’t even realise what it is that’s messed you up, that’s when you have to go to somebody external and hopefully they give you what’s going on. BEST MOMENTS ‘It’s all about going with the flow and I’m open to whatever possibilities that the universe puts in my direction.’ ‘For the last 20 years I’ve been waking up. Before that I was a complete and utter muggle, I was into the money and the cars, big job, big house, all the materialistic rubbish.’ ‘I was asked by my ex-girlfriend that if spirit told me to do something and she didn’t want me to do it, would I still do it? I said: “I’m sorry, but at the end of the day, I’m committed to spirit. You can come along for the journey should you wish, but if you don’t wish then you’ve got free will that’s your choice. It’s like being in the army, if the army tells you to do it you do it, no matter what the wife says. If you’re going to get into this properly you have to talk the talk and also walk it.’ ‘People that are in control don’t want us connecting to source and the universe because they want to control us and as soon as we do that they’ve lost control. So, we’re programmed and corrupted to believe what they’re telling us, if we allow it, rather than connecting directly to the source.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 454What On Earth Has Love Got To Do With It? – Paul D. Lowe & Mary Pagano
On this episode, Paul in joined by Mary Pagano. They start off with no plan of what they were going to talk about but eventually cover topics including prioritising play in life, relationship goals, how close we all are and should be, the power of the mind and much more. KEY TAKEAWAYS When I was a child all I could think about was hurry up with dinner because I wanted to play. I’ve been put on this planet to play and I get side-tracked with work and things that really aren’t that important, but play and having fun is all we really want to do. Don’t get so wrapped up with the other stuff, just do the minimum so you can pay your bills and put food on the table, we came down here to have a good time with our siblings of humanity. I didn’t really enjoy being married. He wasn’t evil, but there was no respect. I really enjoy my freedom now, when I talk about my wish list, things I want to do or that are important to me, a relationship never comes up. I sacrificed so much of who I was, I was basically as asset to the relationship. I didn’t have any dreams I just sustained. I now get to meet so many people and travel all over the world having impact on women’s and children’s lives, which was a goal I set in 2000 after my divorce. Love transcends everything, just smiling at a stranger can make their day because it’s a loving gesture. We can sometimes find out the we’re connected to a total stranger too, it’s mindboggling sometimes. We’re all related. But we’re our own worst enemy, we don’t manage our mind very well, we say bad stuff about ourselves and other people that creates hate, anger and hostility. If we started to treat ourselves with respect and we had positive thoughts about things we wanted to do and people we wanted to be with then you rewire your brain to think more positively. It still blows my mind that we have race issues. It’s so stupid on so many levels. The two words I hate the most is ‘minority’ and ‘refugee’, so I came up with a grand plan: Get every religion, nationality, gender, race bring them all together and build homes for all the refugees. The refugees would be refugees anymore because they have a home and there wouldn’t be any minorities because everybody worked together. BEST MOMENTS ‘We are so programmed to be productive, but there’s real power and joy in the power of now.’ ‘You can’t make a relationship into something it’s not, that won’t work out for either party Being good friends is most important and then see where that takes you.’ ‘The time is now, the world has to change and education is a huge piece of it and I’m going to do whatever I can to make a dent before I slide into home plate.’ ‘Self-love is the biggest, most unconditional love you can have in the world. I also think you can get a lot of unconditional love from pets, but it’s really hard to get it from another human being.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Born in mid-west US, Mary Pagano graduated with a BS in Finance from Central Missouri State, MBA from Webster University & MIT and pursued her academic and professional experiences in St. Louis, Chicago, New York, and Miami. Ep 453Barriers to Love – Paul D. Lowe & Bob Conlin
On this episode guest host Bob Conlin presents another of his relationship episodes, this time he opens up after his last episode about the quote from Rumi, and he shares some personal awareness’s about who he is in relationships to see if it generates any awareness for you. KEY TAKEAWAYS I went to a retreat in May, which happened to be on Mother’s Day weekend and also happened to be my birthday. I went into the retreat with the intention of really healing my internal child, who I am in relationships and finding where are some of these barriers within myself that I’ve built against love. The biggest ‘a-ha’ I got was around who I am being when it comes to the relationship that my wife and son have with each other – that I could never completely understand that. My wife’s body fed and nurtured my son, not just inside the womb but after he was born. Being his father, I could never comprehend those experiences. We have different experiences. But, there’s a bond there that exists but is different in the relationship I have with my son, I relate to the relationship that they have, which is more biological/spiritual/cosmic. I noticed I was having a hard time dealing with that love that they have for each other, that maternal relationship. My background is in critical care nursing, I was trained in science, I’m a very heart-led, spiritual person, but I also have a very solid analytical, logistical, scientific mind. My wife and I started having differences or disagreements around how we wee going to care for our child, especially – and almost solely – when he was ill or sick. Children in day-care a sick a lot. Her philosophy and how she wants to treat the child is different from mine and I was noticing it was creating conflict. What I was doing was making my wife wrong, my thoughts were more right, she was making things harder and I was here to make things easier. What I got ion this awareness I had during this meditation was that this was a way I was creating a barrier to love – either to witnessing love or receiving love. A lot of things I can’t comprehend, I want to build a wall against or make it wrong, let them know it’s wrong and push up against it and fight it because I can’t understand it so it must be wrong – which is totally false! The big a-ha is that I don’t have to understand it or get it always, but I can try, I can be more empathetic to it. The opportunity for me is to notice what comes up form me, to name it, to call it out and say “Bob, this is just a barrier that you’re putting up to either not understand their love or not allow love to be received by you.” I don’t understand it but I can try, I don’t have to put a wall up and be ‘right’. Just breathe, take inventory of what’s happening in the moment, give myself some grace and empathy if I’m triggered by something or upset, I get to watch, acknowledge and be with the love that is happening between my wife and son, and ultimately the love that’s happening all around us. BEST MOMENTS ‘As his father I have an incredible relationship with my son, he’s my everything, but the relationship he has with my wife – he was literally created inside my wife and came out of her body.’ ‘My wife literally created a being, a spirit, a soul in her body – or the spirit or soul came into her body to inhabit my child.’ ‘I can never comprehend the love she has for this child. It’s not that it’s better than mine or that I’m less than, it’s just different.’ ‘My wife says that why he hurts she feels it, when he gets sick, she feels sick. There’s a deep, deep connection there that’s different from the deep, deep connection I have.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 452The Power & Vulnerability Of Being A Soulful Leader – Paul D. Lowe & Katy Viguier
On this episode, Paul is joined by first-time guest Katy Viguier. The pair talk around the subject that Paul has begun focusing on of late: soulful leadership and what it means to Katy. KEY TAKEAWAYS I was a single mum for 10 years in a country with no family here, working two jobs. It was very challenging, I couldn’t think of myself, my children came first, they were the reason I woke up, went to work, everything was for them. I gave love and passion to them that I didn’t have for myself, the one thing I did keep hold of for myself was self-respect. We all struggle in life, but there’s always a reason for why people do and feel things. You have to understand your deeper self. Learning and self-discovery never stops until our last breath. The beauty of it is that you can start at any age As soulful leaders, we all want to help and make the planet a better place, if you meet somebody you want to leave them feeling better about themselves. Do something every day or every week that makes you happy to live by your values. We tend to think of vulnerability as a weakness. For years I wouldn’t talk to people about my life or my inner thoughts, even with my best friends as a teenager. You worry that you’re going to get hurt or be judged. You have to find a person that you feel comfortable enough with to be vulnerable. It's not always an easy place to be, you feel very exposed when you’re being vulnerable, but there is healing in vulnerability. BEST MOMENTS ‘I’ve always given more to other people than I have myself.’ ‘I’ve done the best with what I’ve had for my children. Talking to them during the last couple of years I know now I’ve done more than enough and they’re very well-balanced people who are doing very well.’ ‘Happiness is different for different people. For me, it’s feeling content in your life and at peace and leading your life with intention.’ ‘Love definitely keeps my world going. I probably wouldn’t be here without my children, their love kept me going, and without self love I wouldn’t have found the inner peace I have now.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Katy was born in Switzerland, raised in France and now lives in the south-west of England with her husband-to-be Drew, and her two wonderful sons Thomas and Alex, who are now young men – they are both her pride and joy. Ep 451My Favourite Quote About Love – Paul D. Lowe & Bob Conlin
On this episode guest host Bob Conlin presents another of his relationship episodes, this time about his favourite quote about love and barriers to love which is very popular and often misrepresented because of the last piece being left off. KEY TAKEAWAYS “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” This is the part that is often left out and without it it misses out on a huge, essential part of Rumi’s teaching: “and embrace them.” The quote is by Rumi, a 13th century Persian poet, Islamic scholar, Sufi mystic and a brilliant force on the planet. He has many quotes about many things, but his quotes around love and relationships I find so impactful. I can look and see through my whole life, even as a young child, where I was when I began to start to build the barriers myself against love. Usually, those barriers were created as a result of feeling the need to protect myself, to build a wall around me, to decrease the amount of vulnerability I was going to offer to anyone and ultimately if it’s not love it’s fear. I was creating these barriers based on fear which for me was “what am I not going to get?” or “what are you going to take away from me?” When are you going to stop loving me?” or “when are you going to leave me?” The notion of embracing these barriers that we have for love is going to require some work on your part to work through some of your fear, your shadow elements, some of the resistance you notice might come up. It goes against a lot of our conditioning, from this sphere- based space, to embrace these challenges within ourselves. BEST MOMENTS ‘The impact this quote has had on my life has been astounding, mind-blowing. When I first read it it was one of those times where you sink into your whole body and you feel the energy shift down, knocking you off your seat moment.’ ‘Where am I not letting love in because of these barriers? I needed to take down these barriers in order to let love in.’ ‘Where am I building barriers against myself to love myself? Am I treating my mind, body and soul in a loving way?’ ‘Why do I have these barriers? How are these barriers actually serving me? How are these barriers limiting my capacity to be with love? How are these barriers actually keeping me away from the thing(s) I’m yearning for everywhere in my life: A deeper sense of sharing and receiving love and also giving it?’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 450In Search Of Purpose – Paul D. Lowe & Vanesha Patel
Paul is joined on this episode by Vanesha Patel to talk about her search for purpose in a conversation about following your dreams, not being a people-pleaser or following their opinions while remaining kind and much more. KEY TAKEAWAYS I’ve realised in the last couple of years that I need to be true to myself and do what I truly want to do, not what others’ perceptions of what I should be doing. Sometimes you feel like your purpose is this one thing in life and you have to pursue it, and to a point it is. But as your journey through life, different things at different points in our life are our purpose at that time, depending on your priorities at that time. Perhaps ask: “What’s my purpose at the moment?” I’m my worst critic. You can have 100 people telling you around you saying you’re this, that or the other and all positive, but you’ll still find one thing about yourself, at least, that you haven’t done correctly and you can go down a rabbit hole of this didn’t go right, I didn’t say this, I should have done that. It’s perfectly fine to take a step back sometimes to get back on an upward trajectory. You are where you’re meant to be right now. Lean into your difficulties, I know it’s hard but we’ve all got the solutions in our heads, we’ve all got ample enough knowledge, it’s whether we’re ready to deal with them. BEST MOMENTS ‘Having the ability to dream is a gift, that’s what gets us going and gives us a drive and purpose..’ ‘A lot of people are so focussed on the long term that they aren’t enjoying the journey and aren’t looking at how far they’ve come.’ ‘It’s OK to not be winning all the time, it’s OK to stop and have a reset, take some time out to figure out what it is that makes you happy, what do you really want. What is right for you, ultimately, will find you.’ ‘Also, you don’t have to always help people who seem to need it. They don’t always want help, so just let them know you’re there for them when they need you.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE HOST Paul has made a remarkable transformation from existing for many years in dark, desperate despair; to now living a really healthy, happy and fulfilling life. Ep 449Who Do You Love The Most? – Paul D. Lowe & Bob Conlin
On this episode guest host Bob Conlin interviews Paul about the World Game-Changers project and his deep sense of care and concern for all living things as well as his experience of relationships throughout his life, what he’s learned and what wisdom he would like to share. KEY TAKEAWAYS With hindsight and learning, the most challenging relationship I ever had was with myself. From an early age I was led to believe I was useless, pathetic, no one would ever love me, I was a waste of space, better off dead. This came from my step father over 6 torturous years. I developed self-hatred in my formative years and spend most of my life fighting against myself. The love of womankind has been so powerful in my life, initially in the form of two matriarchs – my mother and my grandmother, and then later in what the outside world would term ‘romantic relationships’. I still had deep, deep deserved issues and I battled alcohol addiction for many many years, but one of the things that kept my head above water was knowing that I was so special in these beautiful, divine feminine worlds. That for me is just mind-blowing. My mother gave what she didn’t have and I learned that model and used it in later life, even if I was a mess, if anyone needed help it was like a sobering effect and I’d sort it for them. I had to unlearn that when I became a coach. It's not our role to fix, guide and support by all means, it’s not my job to fix. When I was younger, the love in my heart only extended to women, kids and animals. Men were like a magnet to me and I just wanted to fight them. My understanding was that all men were drunk wife-beaters because I saw that directly in my own world, but it was rife in the community around me, being in a rough, inner-city area of Nottingham. It was somehow normal, but I sort of knew it wasn’t. BEST MOMENTS ‘In darkness the real focus of light shines brightest in the darkest.’ ‘The best relationship is where I am now, and I say this in the humblest of ways, but I’m in love with myself. For the first time in my life I can truly say I don’t need a romantic relationship.’ ‘You follow your heart. For the longest time I followed my head, but that was based on fear and survival.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 448How Do We Change The World Together? - Paul D. Lowe & Lisa Ma
Paul is joined by Lisa Ma, to talk about the crucial question that we all face at certain times of life: how do we change the world, and how do we do it together? As Paul and Lisa discuss, this process must begin with a period of self-reflection, and must continue with tapping into the natural need within us all to make positive, impactful change. KEY TAKEAWAYS If we all take time to reflect upon who we truly are, and why we are here, the the coming together of people will happen naturally. We are all inbuilt with an innate need to make this world a better place. Adversity in life should serve as a wake up call. It can act as the spark that spurs us on to do great deeds, and transform our path entirely. We need fear in order to keep us away from what can be negative. The important thing is to embrace love over fear, and never let fear guide our actions. When we all sing in perfect harmony, and from our hearts, it becomes a symphony of one song. This is why music resonates with us on a deeper level. This is the foundational concept of the universe. Ep 447Beware Relationship Red Flags! - With Bob Conlin
Bob Conlin takes the reins on this episode for the fifth of his regular podcasts focused on relationships. On this episode Bob talks about what he sees are red flags in relationships be they familial or of course romantic relationships. KEY TAKEAWAYS Red flags are significant issues in relationships and they can be around specific characteristics of a person, a situation of what’s going on in a relationship, which is what I’m focussing on here. There’s a notion of the four horsemen of the apocalypse – I’m not a scholar, but they’re bad. The metaphor used for relationships describes specific communication styles that predict the end of a relationship. The four horsemen are: Criticism, contempt, defensiveness and stonewalling. If these methods of communication are present in your relationship, your relationship will end. You don’t have to have all four of these to have a solid predictor that the relationship’s going to end, but even a little bit of all or a couple of them should really give you pause to take a look and think we need help, or we have an opportunity to get support. I’ve seen it so many times where couples present this way and a lot of those relationships don’t last. Antidotes: The antidote to criticism is to take some ownership and start with “I” statements, really owning your feelings about it, this takes the pressure off them and starts to put it back on you. The antidote to contempt is to remind yourself of your partner’s positive qualities and find some gratitude for who they are and what they do and learn to appreciate them. The antidote to defensiveness is real simple: Take responsibility, accept your partner’s perspective and apologise for any wrongdoing. The antidote to stonewalling is you need to get back into your body and calm down, it’s a real fight or flight situation, remove yourself from the situation in a kind and loving way: “I’m shutting down/getting triggered by this conversation, I just need 20 minutes of alone time, can I go and get that?” BEST MOMENTS ‘Criticising your partner is different to giving a critique or voicing a complaint, it’s really like you’re attacking them, how they are, their way of being. You might be using terms such as “always” and “never”.’ ‘Contempt is to treat others with disrespect or you’re mocking them. If you notice you’re talking about or to your partner in a contemptuous way, you’ve lost respect for them and you’re attacking their character.’ ‘Defensiveness is most common where there’s been a breakdown and you can’t elevate above the. Weeds of what’s going on and connect to the actual issue is. If you are in a conversation and you feel like you need to defend yourself or not be able to take responsibility, or blame is deflected onto you.’ ‘Stonewalling is exactly what it sounds like. In a discussion you shut down or stop having a discussion and walk away, that can be hard because nothing happens after that. If you’re on the receiving end of that, what’s that like for your partner?’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 446The World's Changing, How Will You Respond? – Paul D. Lowe & Arif Gilany
Paul is joined on this episode by returning guest Arif Gilany who is taking the host’s seat this time, asking questions of Paul including all about his life’s journey from abused and broken boy to founder of the World Game-Changers project, as well as some big questions such as what is wealth? How important is networking? How important is reading? And much more... KEY TAKEAWAYS “I am very happy with me”, that makes you extremely wealthy. So many people automatically assume that the word ‘wealth’ has got one meaning; financial, that being wealthy means you must be a multi-millionaire. But, what I’ve come to understand in my life’s journey is no one thing ever stands alone. My definition of wealth is a holistic one, yes it can bring in the financial element, but it also brings in the social status, the respect of others, self-respect, happiness, warmth, and love for me is the true measure of wealth, not what you’ve got in the bank. Be true to yourself, find your passion, find your purpose. You usually find this very very close to something that lights your heart up. If you like playing sports, get involved in sports. Your heart is your best indicator to where your future lies. Your heart will not lie to you, your head will try to trick you, your heart will not. Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed individuals can change the world, indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has – once we have that quote in our mindset, that change starts within us first. I believe we get to a stage of our lives where we naturally attract the people we’re meant to attract, in whatever capacity that is: A live partner, a soul mate, a twin flame, a business associate, the labels are irrelevant, it’s about that love, that energy, that connection that’s there and we emit that as individuals and we attract what we’re meant to attract. BEST MOMENTS ‘When society asks questions, they’re always looking for that silver bullet, that one thing: What is the answer. From my experience there’s never THE answer.’ ‘How long does one want to take learning lessons? If you’ve got a mentor, they will guide you very very quickly. Get yourself a good mentor, it saves so much time and fear-driven existence.’ ‘We can either let life happen through us, where we take the learning from the experience and let it pass, or life happens to us and that’s a recipe for being a victim.’ ‘I’m in the moment day-by-day, I’m in the process, following my own intuition and I know that I’ll deliver.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Arif Gilany is an entrepreneur and business consultant with superb interpersonal, team building, negotiating and multilingual skills. Ep 445The Importance Of Having Relationship Goals With Bob Conlin
Bob Conlin takes the reins on this episode for the fourth of his regular podcasts focussed on relationships. In this episode Bob talks about relationship goals and how often this is a missed opportunity, that a lot of couples simply don’t have relationship goals. Why is that and how do we set a relationship goal? KEY TAKEAWAYS Typically, around the beginning of each year you set goals, those can be new years resolutions, specific results you want to accomplish in the year. It could even be in the next month or week. But, we don’t tend to do this for our marriages or relationships, we don’t even think about it – not to get married by a certain date, more about intentional conversations about the relationship and our experiences and outcomes. My first goal was to meet my wife. I hadn’t met her yet, but my coach brought up the notion of creating a project around meeting my perfect woman, the outcome I wanted. I got to work and was very clear on the woman I wanted to meet: Her physical characteristics, who she was in the world, the experience I wanted to have with her (loved, safe, connected, a partner, that I wanted to be the best version of myself for her and me). Then I transformed them into a goal: I want to meet this woman by this time, which is weird because we don’t enter into these things with this kind of plan usually, but it happened. For folks that are already in relationships, we don’t often set goals because of the notion that we’re in a relationship and it’s happened, we’re committed, we don’t feel like we need to or have to set goals. Start looking at what’s the experience that you want to have in your relationship? (more connection, intimacy, laughter, play, excitement and adventure?) That can be the goal, by October 2022 I want to have ‘x’ amount of joy in my relationship. Then you’ve got to get to work, to get to that amount of joy what do you need to do? (More dates, more time together? More time apart?) If you’re in a relationship with someone who’s also committed to an experience or specific outcome from the relationship it’s a lot more fun, exciting, connected and you get to feel like you’re working towards a common outcome. You can also call your partner forward and ask how it’s going, where you’re lacking or where you’re doing really well and celebrate it. Ep 444De-Mystifying What A Twin Flame Relationship Is - Paul D. Lowe & Lyn Smith
Paul in joined on this episode by returning guest Lyn Smith to talk about the differences between the titles ‘life-partners’, ‘soulmates’, ‘twin-flames’, etc and de-mystifying this trilogy of terms. KEY TAKEAWAYS We all have masculine and feminine energy, it’s just that usually your more dominant core energy is the energy you resonate with and it’s not necessarily gender-specific – though for most people it is. It’s the energies and specifically the polarisation of the masculine and feminine energies that create attraction. Most people can probably relate to having had a few soulmate relationships. These aren’t necessarily romantic relationships, but if they are, they’ve found a strong connection and attraction in that relationship. The twin-flame relationship takes that one step further and is based on the concept that the twin-flames are one soul that’s been divided into two, one with the more dominant core masculine energy and one with the more dominant core feminine energy. A twin-flame relationship is about being in union to create something phenomenal for the greater good. There comes a point, in your personal development journey, where you just let go of everything and trust in the Divine Higher Power calling by listening to the guidance of that little intuitive voice, rather than setting your own goals and working to achieve them. BEST MOMENTS ‘A twin-flame relationship is not a relationship for relationship’s sake, but specifically is a soul-calling where you’re here for a Divine purpose as a couple – a power couple that are operating at the highest levels of vibration to be an example not only for others to follow, but to aspire to be.’ ‘Free will does play a part in it if you decide not to sign up for fulfilling that soul contract.’ ‘It isn’t an overnight journey; it takes a while to get to the stage where you can let go and trust in the divine higher power to guide you. There will be ego thoughts, worries and doubts where you question yourself. But you will get evidence that this is what you’re meant to be doing and that you’re on the right path.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Lyn is a world-renowned and respected Relationship Transformation Expert and author of the #1 best-selling book, ‘The Cupid’s Bow Technique’. Ep 443Is Everything Fine In Your Relationships? – Bob Conlin
Bob Conlin takes the reins on this episode for the third of his regular podcasts focussed on relationships. In this episode Bob talks about something that comes up quite often in his sessions as a relationship coach – that one person needs help for the future of their relationship and the other thinks there’s no problem. KEY TAKEAWAYS It’s staggering how often it comes up that one person in a relationship says “we need help” and the other says “no we don’t, everything’s fine, you need help, you’re the problem”. Straight away you can see that there are two totally different perceptions of what’s happening in that relationship. There’s a breakdown in what’s going on in the relationship and what their experiences are. How do you go from there as a couple? I look at relationships as having three parts or entities: One individual, the other individual and what those two individuals create, which is the relationship. If you look at it as an equation where A says “we have a problem” and B says “no we don’t”, C is still going to be impacted. I ask the person who thinks everything is fine: “How can it be fine if your partner says it’s not? How do you dismiss their perception and experience and think that everything is fine in the relationship?”. It’s scary to confront and look at your relationship, especially when there’s some conflict/breakdowns/“problems” in it. If you’re the one who thinks they need help and your partner says it’s fine, you need to have that conversation and ask how can it be fine if that’s the case? Reframe it as you see more opportunity for ‘us’ and the ways we get to love each other rather than saying there’s a problem and things need to change. Stand for what you want in the relationship and that you want support. For the ones who think their relationship is fine, really take a look, is it truly fine? Do you feel loved, seen and heard? Are you having fun? Are you having intimate moments? Are you excited to see your partner? If the answer to any of those questions is no, is it really fine? Use it as an opportunity. BEST MOMENTS ‘Nine times out of ten (maybe more), the person seeking support is the female identified person in the relationship, and the person saying everything is fine is the male identified individual.’ ‘I think as a way of staying in our comfort zone/burying our head in the sand and hoping things will work themselves out, we say that everything’s fine or deflect and project that the problem is actually you not me or the relationship. It’s actually a pivotal opportunity for a couple to come together and be vulnerable and honestly take an inventory of their relationship.’ ‘Put your victim mindset in the back seat for a while and actually look at what’s the opportunity for both of you, what do you want, are you both truly happy and how do we get there?’ ‘I talk to so many couples who just settle and think it’s OK to come home and not feel connected to the person you’re supposed to be committed to and loving, or feel unseen, unheard or misunderstood by the person you’re supposed to be in a committed relationship with. You have to return to love.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 442Speaking From Our Hearts: Creating Impact (2) – Paul D. Lowe & Punit Bhatia
Paul and Punit Bhatia continue their two-part episode about creating impact, after the pair of them have spent quite a bit of time recently creating a book. KEY TAKEAWAYS A belief is what you believe in, and you have total control over what you believe. If you have total control over your beliefs, you can have total control over your life. Wherever you are right now, whatever you’re doing; believe yourself to be an accountant and look around and see what you see. If you do that you’ll start to see the price of the objects around you and perhaps start to think of them as money/valuable/having emotional value. That little shift in belief changed the way you look at things around you. What you believe has a huge impact on the way you see things. Every one of us wants certainty: “I can have things”. As soon as that is fulfilled we want a little bit of uncertainty as well: Excitement, the opportunity not to know things and be open to surprise elements. We also want to be significant: “I am capable and can create impact”, there is also a need to love: to feel appreciated and feel loved. We also need to feel connected. While we do all this together, we want to grow and contribute to the world. It always starts with a low level need and then it evolves. You can’t contribute to society until your basic human needs are not met, as soon as they are met you want the next one and then the next one. The first step in anything is mastering yourself, mastering your emotions, mastering your beliefs, mastering your needs, mastering your fear and then learning to change, moving from you to outside. Once you do that the core of your philosophy, your belief system, what you believe in and how you think about life, what is your philosophy in life then you are ready to make an impact. BEST MOMENTS ‘Belief is what drives a person.’ ‘You should be open to changing your beliefs from time to time. You need to look at if your beliefs are serving you to get to where you want to be – if they do, fine. If not, it’s time to reflect, refresh, realign, reorient and recreate your beliefs.’ ‘Everything that happens in your life is driven by the order of your values. You have to be aware of what your values are and why you favour or disfavour certain activities in your life. What are the values you need if you want to make a change?’ ‘Forgiveness and gratitude are important to create impact. To create impact you need to take action. To take action you need to have a solid platform from which you are launching yourself. If you hold grudges and are ungrateful you don’t have a solid foundation because deep inside you there is not enough conviction. So, you need to let go and forgive everything that has happened in your life, the good, and especially the bad and the ugly.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Punit is an avid thinker, serial author and coach who is fascinated by how we as humans act and find joy in life. Ep 441The Common Denominator Of All Relationships With Bob Conlin
Bob Conlin takes the reins on this episode for the second of his regular podcasts focused on relationships. In this episode Bob focuses on the notion of our relationship to ourselves and shares a personal story as well as how he sees this relationship to ourselves impacting the relationships we have with our romantic partners. KEY TAKEAWAYS I’ve been married for 5 years, this summer to an amazing woman who is also my business partner in the couples coaching business. But it’s not always easy, even with all the tools we have as relationship coaches we still have relationship struggles and challenges, but we know how to work through them. After being broken up with by my last serious romantic partner before my wife I started to be with the sadness and sorrow, and it hit me like a freight train. What I noticed was that I had this little voice come up and talk to me, in my head: “Here you are again, another failed relationship. Here you are again, with your heart broken. Here you are again, alone.” That loneliness was the thing that really hit me. I begged for her to take me back even though it wasn’t what I wanted, but I was so uncomfortable that I wanted to go back to the thing I thought would help. My sadness and broken heart was for myself. It’s so easy to blame other people or circumstances for why your life looks the way it does. Notice if you have some ways that relationships typically go or end or if you have common complaints or frustrations about partners or difficult people that you work for or with. What are the common denominators? My common denominator was me, I was the one single thread in all of them. Take an inventory of yourself, is there some truth when you notice that you’re always labelled as a certain type of person in relationships or from co-workers? Is there an opportunity to grow and learn something more about yourself so you can then choose and practice something differently so you can get what you want? What we do with that awareness can change your entire life and experience of relationships. BEST MOMENTS ‘I’m not the easiest person to be in a relationship with, I have a lot of my own character defects and things that I’ve come a long way on, but I’m still growing and learning.’ ‘In any challenge, breakdown or any scary situation, there’s always an opportunity to look at what’s the gift? It can help you begin to take responsibility and ask “how am I contributing to relationships that fail and leave my partner feeling unloved, unseen, unheard?”’ ‘One of my biggest fears was of being left/abandoned. Unknowingly I would make scenarios where that would happen. I would make it unbearable to be in a relationship with me, so my partners would leave me, making the prophecy come true.’ ‘Look for some new chunks of truth or awareness, and see if there’s anything that you can start getting responsible for that has your relationships going a certain way. There’s no judgement or shame here, it’s simply an opportunity to get better in relationships and get what you want.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 440Speaking From Our Hearts: Creating Impact (1) – Paul D. Lowe & Punit Bhatia
Paul is joined by a returning guest Punit Bhatia for the first in a two-part episode about creating impact, after the pair of them have spent quite a bit of time recently creating a book. KEY TAKEAWAYS There are three parts to creating impact: 1) Finding out who you are and mastering your inner being, being clear on what you want to communicate and change. 2) Moving to prosperity, how do you become from good to great? Health, others and wealth 3) Going from ego to spirit, when you’re being of service you create the largest or greatest impact. For us to be truly successful, every one of us has to have an intention – what do you want to become and what kind of impact do you want to create? You must then decide if you want to go for your self-intention, do you want to make life happen or do you want to have life happen to you? Finally you have to manage yourself, your emotions, your ambitions, your intentions, then eventually you begin to start mastering these things. You have to have a fixed philosophy that drives your thoughts and you as a person. If the philosophy gets corrupted, your actions sooner or later will also be corrupted. Fear plays a part and pulls people down. Over the last five years I’ve learned fear is not real (False Evidence that Appears Real), most are about worrying that things will happen and things will go wrong, none of it has happened and if it has happened it’s in the past and no longer a fear. It’s happening in the mind, not in reality. There are two lions on your shoulders, one is the lion of courage, and the other is the lion of fear. If you keep feeding one it will grow, the lion of fear will make our lives difficult but if we feed the lion of courage, it will grow and eventually tame the lion of fear and then we will be able to work better. You can’t get rid of or kill fear, because it’s a human emotion, but you can control it. BEST MOMENTS ‘We, as humans, always ask ourselves “have I left an imprint? Have I done something worthwhile? Have I made an impact?”’ ‘When you think you’re on top of the world, life will bring you to the opposite.’ ‘When you’re looking for things outside and inside there’s emptiness, you’re not aware of what you’re thinking and you’re always chasing a mirage. You’re not clear on your goal.’ ‘There are good fears which help us (fear of failure encourages you to work) and bad fears that don’t (hiding from the work and letting your fear control you).’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Punit is an avid thinker, serial author and coach who is fascinated by how we as humans act and find joy in life. Ep 439The Starting Point For Any Relationship – Paul D. Lowe & Bob Conlin
Paul is joined by returning guest Bob Conlin for the next in their series of podcasts on relationships, specifically on this episode about starting points in relationships and our relationship to ourselves. KEY TAKEAWAYS What do we mean when we say “relationship”? Much of the work I do as a professional coach, supporting individuals in all kinds of relationships (with themselves, those they choose to love, those that they lead) is to understand, fundamentally, that we’re in relationship to everything that’s around us, to our past, present, future, what we think is and is not possible. How are your inner dialogue conversations with yourself? Are they loving, are they critical – and is that more loud certain days than others – strained and challenged? Ask yourself: Am I nurturing this relationship, or am I neglecting it? We often put everyone else’s needs before our own, and parents are especially guilty of that, because we sacrifice our own needs for the needs of our children, or our spouses. But this also applies to people that work for you. What version of you are they getting? If you nurture your needs first, do they get a more empowered, kind, loving, patient, healthier version of you if you do that? BEST MOMENTS ‘Relationships impact our quality and quantity of life and how we experience ourselves as we live and navigate through our lives.’ ‘I struggle to look after my physical health, so I find that a good barometer to know if I’m nurturing or neglecting my relationship with myself. What are your areas?’ ‘Start small and capitalise and build on those things.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 438Thoughts On Being A Soulful Leader - Paul D. Lowe & Arif Gilany
Paul is joined by returning guest, Arif Gilany, to talk about soulful leaders and what these two all-powerful words mean to them. KEY TAKEAWAYS We’re just here to bring awareness and set an example. If your actions inspire others to dream more, to do more, and to be more you are a soulful leader. I’ve studied a lot of successful people, and there are examples of great feminist soulful leaders: a young black girl who grew up in poverty to becoming the world’s first black billionaire – Oprah Winfrey, A young sex slave from a Yazidi/Kurdish background, called Nadia Murad, who was stolen by ISIS who went on in 2018 to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Under pressure most people would buckle and lose control, but all we can do is stay calm, and loving, and caring throughout all the trials and tribulations of life and know that everything is possible through love and care. My whole life is about making a positive impact in the lives of as many people around the world as possible. I went through so many challenges, starting with war and injuries that threatened my life. I’ve had the chance to take care of my father who passed away at 85, that was a very humbling experience, to have someone you love so much pass away in your arms. It gave me a perspective of putting myself in his shoes. If it was me, what would I have done and accomplished? This kind of perspective – looking at your life from the end – should be focussed on more than the hustle of today. Reverse engineer your thinking to think “what impact will I have made when I take my last breath?” BEST MOMENTS ‘When I think about the words “soulful leaders” what comes to my mind is leaders who raise the consciousness of others.’ ‘By not accepting residency in the US while there’s war going on in Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky has set a clear example of what a soulful leader is and what that means to his people.’ ‘Soulful leaders break the mould, they are visionaries.’ ‘When there’s hope in the future, there’s power in the now.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Arif Gilany is an entrepreneur and business consultant with superb interpersonal, team building, negotiating and multilingual skills. Ep 437Creating New Relationships - Paul D. Lowe & Bob Conlin
Paul is joined by Bob Conlin for the start of a regular set of podcasts focused on relationships. This first episode with Bob is an introduction to the man himself as he begins to explore the fascinating topic of relationships. KEY TAKEAWAYS When you think of the most impactful and engaging moment in your lives, often the genesis of those will be on the cusp of the creation of some type of new relationship, either with a loved one, with yourself and your self-development, or in your career. As we relate to the world around us, it’s all impacted with how we relate to ourselves within. How you perceive the world, others, what’s possible, the impact you can make starts with your mindset , what you think and what you believe you’re capable of. It starts with you, but you also need to surround yourself with opportunities, people and circumstances that are going to lift you up as far as you can to your ability. I was probably going to die from the physical things that were happening in my life, I had to think and act a different way. So, I get it, I understand. Are you willing to crack the door slightly open to just be in a different conversation? Can you dare to dream, even for a moment, that it can go differently for you? What are your options? It’s going to be hard and challenging and rough staying the same, but it’s going to be hard and challenging and rough trying something new that might actually get you what you want. Which game do you want to play? One of the biggest breakthroughs I had in my own relationship journeys was this notion of responsibility. I started to look around and I noticed that there was a commonality in all my relationships. The common thread/complaint was “not enough”, frustration or resentment and the common input to all of those relationships was me. It was a huge “A-ha” moment of me realising I was the common denominator here and I have to do something about that. When I did, my romantic relationships got better, I started taking better care of my body, mind and soul, I became a better leader in my corporate position and real results started to come after that. BEST MOMENTS ‘What do you truly want and believe that you can have in the realm of relationships and our impact on the world?’ ‘You’re the average of the five people you hang out with the most and the five thoughts you think the most – if you’re in a negative dis-empowered mindset most of the time, that’s an opportunity right there to work on.’ ‘Once you try to understand someone you can start to make a difference. Once someone knows you understand them they’ll start to open up a little more.’ ‘I’ve been through a lot of life and relationship experience. I’ve been through the ringer in many aspects so I’m able to empathise and connect with a lot of people that have gone through a lot of hard life situations.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Bob is a Life, Love and Leadership champion, author, coach, trainer, husband, father, and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. Ep 436Marketing: Maximizing Messages - Paul D. Lowe & Andrew Lenzo
Paul is joined once more by Andrew Lenzo the owner of 303 Media and host of The Lenzo Media Podcast to talk about how you can get your message out there, how do you share it and who you’re trying to share it to. KEY TAKEAWAYS Podcasting is a great way to get your message shared, but it’s just one branch of a tree. The first thing you need to look at are your strengths: Do you like to be on video or are you more comfortable being on audio only, do you have the bandwidth to create the content to get your message shared or do you need a team to create it for you? There are so many different ways in which to share your message, obviously the internet is a huge place and there are a ton of free platforms that allow you to share your thoughts and information that could be valuable to other people looking for your services, or just looking to hear from you. You could create a podcast, a short video series on YouTube and share them through social media, creating blog posts or short articles for your audience to provide value for an issue they’re trying to solve. There are so many people that I talk to off-camera where we have an authentic conversation and they’re calm and relaxed, they have a really good tone and are great at getting their point across. But as soon as I put a video camera in front of them they stiffen up and start stumbling over their words. I think it’s such an important skill to learn, especially for outspoken people, is to just be yourself in front of a camera, pretend like it’s not even there. Look at the amount of resources you have and the amount of time you have to put into it, obviously your business and what it provides needs to come first, as does the value and authenticity of the content. But you should also be looking to build that platform. You don’t have to be on every social media platform, if you only have the time to build one, do one, but if you have the time and resources it’s important to share among as many markets as possible and really diversify the possibility of people coming to your show, your business’ website, your own personal website, etc. BEST MOMENTS ‘There’s still room for text only, but video is the way things are moving forward.’ ‘The two biggest search engines are Google and YouTube – where they search for ‘how to…’ videos and information on certain topics.’ ‘I feel like you can have a somewhat successful business without having a social media platform, but it can increase your visibility and it can bring you more profits.’ ‘It’s about making yourself as accessible as possible. You have to have multiple ways to bring in customers/listeners.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Paul’s Story: Emerging From The Forest (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Emerging-Forest-Pain-Purpose-Mastering/dp/1719373272 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Mastering The Game Of Life Book (USA): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Game-Life-Paul-Lowe/dp/1782227679 Speaking From Our Hearts Books: Volumes 1-3 (Available on Amazon) World Game-Changers Group ABOUT THE GUEST Before the pandemic, Andrew and his friend Austin were working as journalists at their college newspaper.
