So, Stephanie McMahon tweeted about an RMU class here in Pittsburgh this week. RAW 25 is next week - and we're SO EXCITED! We're calling for Damien Sandow to come back as Damien Demento for RAW 25. Our favorite moment of the Braun Strowman rampage on RAW? Cake guy. This week's Big Question: What is your LEAST favorite RAW moment? We missed Mad Mike's 2018 predictions during our year-end show, but he DID e-mail us (we just missed it). He is sharing his predictions now. Sorg has been looking at alternative options for watching wrestling. He's sharing his thoughts. We're discovering that Impact Wrestling and Twitch mean different things for Mad Mike and Sorg. Sorg is interested in watching Friend of the Show RJ City on Impact Wrestling. Of course this is a tech talk show. Sorg’s Awesome Thing of the Week is Pluto TV as an alternative to regular TV. Pro Tip from our guest Ryan Haggerty: Turn down TV saturation on shows like Dare Devil for a film noir effect. Ryan’s Awesome Thing of the Week is the Panasonic GH5s. Thanks to Amanda Narcisi for sharing the Colgate smart toothbrush with Apple Research Kit integration. There’s a town in New Jersey that isn’t happy with apps like Waze and Google Maps causing more traffic – to the point that they’re issuing fines to non-resident drivers. Of course there’s a flying bathtub drone. Open banking may be coming to the US. Russian dash cam footage has been compiled into a documentary for The Road Movie. BOLD Sports: Episode 18
The show had a nice retweet this week thanks to Adam Schefter! Otherwise, we're looking at the playoff picture. The boys are still running with their fantasy football bookings, and Steve is taking a bit of a lead in Week 1. But, college football is also an important thing. The guys talk about the National Championship game and the state of college football as a whole. From there conversation shifts to some NCAA hoops action. Matt and Steve touch on some of the big names from the week, including some hometown updates from Pitt, Pitt Ladies, an Duquesne. This week's Penguins updates are better than they've been. For starters, it's back-to-back wins for the first time in over a month. Matt and Steve otherwise take a look at where the Penguins are in the big picture, and break out who their team leaders are before shifting to the NFL playoffs. The Steelers are taking on Jacksonville (or Jags-on-ville as they boys like to call them). They're giving some thoughts on keys to win. Steam Machine is the Undertaker of the Mayhem Show - only coming out for the big shows! We just mathed that we're as old as Wrestle Kingdom. We may or may not be going through the stories we touched upon 12 years ago during the infancy of our humble podcast. Doc Remedy is running down the who's who of who gave him chops for his birthday that one year. Remembering that we had WWE vs TNA green screen videos back in the day! Doc Remedy has, in fact, walked with Elias. Steam Machine: Chris Jericho is the diet cola of rock 'n rolla. Now that we're done reminiscing, we're recapping CURRENT wrestling to talk about our Wrestle Kingdom slumber party. Hearing Jim Ross try to pronounce Japanese names = Priceless. Brian’s Awesome Thing of the Year is NOT the tech items he recently purchased – but the sweet bag he got to carry it all! Krause’s Awesome Thing of the Year is his Google Pixel 2XL. Will’s Awesome Thing of the Year is a “really interesting idea.” He’s interested in TXT.FYI – a stripped down blog. Lokay’s Awesome Thing of the Year is HQ – the quiz app. Cynthia’s AirPods are her Awesome Thing for Life. As her Awesome Thing of the Year, she’s going with 17776. Mike Pound’s Awesome Thing of the Year is Amazon Echo. Patreoner Michael Fedor’s Awesome Thing of the Year is Patreon’s redo of their fee structure. Bobby is sharing his Awesome Thing of the Year – his Google Home. John Carman’s Awesome Thing of the Year is Google’s Pixel Buds. Sorg’s Awesome Thing of the Year is the realization of handheld internet through his AT&T Wireless plan. We’re running through our 2017 predictions from last year – and whether or not they actually came true. And, then we turn to predictions for 2018!(With a shout out to Rob Johnston and the Vine 2 launch!) Lokay: Vine2 is going to be a failure. Will Rutherford: Net neutrality is going to get pushed through and it’s going to be a kerfluffle. ISPs are going to do what ISPs do, but customers are going to drop like flies. They’re going to lose so much business that they’re going to roll things back and it will all be for naught. Mike Pound: Digital side of journalism is going to continue to build in 2018. Cynthia Closkey: Continued escalation of Google/Apple/Amazon streaming war. Apple TV available for sale on Amazon again. Michael Fedor: Disney will have one major purchase in the next year. (Jokingly introduced with: Living under the United States of Disney. Disney will pay down national debt and come in on some sort of crisis.) John Carman: We’re going to see the first Amazon Key burglary. Bobby Cherry: Elon Musk is going to have some breakthrough next year – through one of his companies. Chilla: We’re going to see another huge dropoff on PC technology. Brian Crawford: We’re going to start turning into cyborgs with our wearable tech and implant devices. We’re also going to see regulations regarding drones. Krause: AR is going to be a much bigger deal than even VR is now. Sorg: Podcasting is going to be de-emphasized in 2018. The Broadcast Podcast 27: Ashleigh Deemer
In November, Ashleigh Deemer co-founded the new political action committee Women for the Future of Pittsburgh along with outgoing City Councilor Natalia Rudiak, mayor-elect of Wilkinsburg Marita Garrett and County Controller Chelsa Wagner. Deemer has a bachelor’s in environmental policy from Chatham University and a master’s degree in public management from CMU. She’s worked for Rudiak’s office since 2011, where she currently serves as chief of staff. Deemer ran for the Democratic nomination for the District 4 City Council seat herself but lost in the primary earlier this year. We talked to Deemer about the new PAC which aims to “disrupt the crippling political inertia in western Pennsylvania” by helping raise money for female candidates (something she knows about firsthand) and why Democrats in Allegheny County should be thinking more about diversity. Find Deemer on Twitter and check out WTF Pittsburgh (that acronym!) for info about their launch party on Dec. 11. Wrestling Mayhem Show 599: Earth 2 Daniel Bryan
Marcus Mann can't seem to get enough of the mayhem. He made the trek back to the studio to join Sorg, Bobby F J-Town and Mad Mike for this week's episode. We had a lot to chat about, including: 205 Live is going to do house shows starting in January? On paper 205 Live is the best indy show ever. We need to see how it is in reality. Marcus Mann is educating us on the difference of a 205 Live show on TV versus live and how much better high flyers are live. Someone may have just compared Enzo to Eddie Guerrero. Marcus Mann is educating Sorg on Noam Dar and wrestling outside the US. We're reminiscing on that time when Rizz interviewed Pete Dunne. Just because we're not seeing people from CWC and Mae Young Classic popping up yet doesn't mean WWE lost their numbers. Just wait. Did you see DJ Z at a show - - - in a library? Jim Johnston was released from the WWE. We're sharing some thoughts. Since we've got Marcus Mann on the sofa, we're talking about the recent RYSE anniversary show. A Power Point presentation is over on 205 Live. This week's Big Question: Which superstar had the best potential and would have been a bigger WWE star if Vince McMahon hadn't gotten in the way? The one that got away - that don't know they got away. What did YOU learn in wrestling this week? Fan of the show, Brandon Mynatt, will be a participant in the 2018 Special Olympics as part of the Team Missouri Bowling Team. AwesomeCast 376: The Wheels on the VR Desert Bus
It’s just the boys this week! But, Sorg and Chilla hold down the fort as they share this week’s news in tech. This week they’re talking about: It’s our last episode before our Christmas edition next week, and we’re feeling pretty festive already. Sorg is sharing his Awesome Thing of the Week. Desert Bus is (finally) on VR! Chilla has some Android news as his Awesome Thing of the Week with a file-to-file transfer option. Sorg is discussing just how much data our tech savvy household uses. It’s almost staggering. There’s a YouTube video from 1999 that talks about Amazon. It’s amazing. Whiteboard app is coming to Microsoft. According to Sorg, Nintendo is like the Disney vault of video games. With games like Animal Crossing, where’s the Legend of Zelda integration for our phones? Amazon is not happy with Google. Or is that the other way around? YouTube will no longer be available on Amazon devices?!?! How about a stripped down blogging tool without social media tools? There’s such a thing to get you back to the basics of blogging, without the bells and whistles. HP has a wearable computer for VR! Google updated Google Home to now accept multiple commands. Chilla has been waiting for this day for so long. Sorg is showing off his teddy bears. After the show remember to: Eat at Slice on Broadway (@Pgh_Slice) if you are in the Pittsburgh area!
