BOLD Sports: Episode 16

Matt and Steve start this week's episode as they do - with their fantasy football standings. They've been running neck-and-neck all season. This week they're tied up on their weekly picks with a 1-point difference on their season standings as they're headed into the fantasy championships! In other news, it's Christmastime! But, apparently not for the Penguins. The boys bring us up to speed on their recent losing streak. Thankfully it's a long season and we have some time to correct the early follies. As for NCAA news, we're into the basketball conference season! Matt and Steve share some thoughts on that - as well as the start of NCAA hockey season. We saved the best conversation for last as the boys dive into NFL news. At the top of the segment? James ****ing Harrison. There are certainly thoughts on his move to New England. As far as actual Steelers gameplay, the team showed a lot of promise on their Christmas Day outing with plays by Bryant, Bell and JuJu. Matt and Steve head out of their Steelers wrap up with an overview of their thoughts for the playoff picture. As they do, the guys wrap up this week's show with some BOLD predictions about NFL - Week 17. BOLD Sports: Episode 15

Matt and Steve are feeling pretty jolly this week as we head into Christmas. They've got an even playing field on this week's fantasy scores with 10-6 for both of them. And, they're neck-and-neck as far as their fantasy seasons go, too. But, it looks like Matt and Steve are both out of their respective leagues. As they recap some NCAA hoops action, Pitt, PSU, and WVU are all looking at some conference games after Christmas. In MLB news, there's some updates on what the Dodgers and the Yankees are up to. Apparently the Pirates are trying to work out a trade for Cole. Matt and Steve definitely have some thoughts on how that looks - as well as the status of talks with Cutch. Even though he's no longer a Penguin, the guys are keeping up with Fleury as he stood tall in their series with the Avalanche. They also touch base on recent Penguins moves, including the acquisition of Jamie Olesiak and some trade updates. We're headed into the home stretch of the football season! Pro Bowl selections are looking good as far as Steelers are concerned. But, it looks like we're going to be a couple guys short until further notice. And, don't get us started on the Patriots game. But, at least the boys have some great content for this week's podcast - including some thoughts on the reason for the game-ending call. As they do, the guys wrap up this week's show with some BOLD predictions about NFL - Week 16. BOLD Sports: Episode 14

Matt and Steve are keeping it neck-and-neck with their fantasy football picks. With the season quickly wrapping, it's going to be a nail-biter to see who stays on top as teams get ousted from contention! At the top of the show, Matt and Steve share some thoughts on the PIAA Football Championships. From there, it's on to some MLB news as they're talking the future of Giancarlo Stanton, McCutcheon and Cole. In NCAA news, it looks like Baker Mayfield for the Heisman as the Bowl games get started. As for our big-picture Pittsburgh sports options, the Penguins are 1-3 since last week. It looks like Murray will be back soon, though. The Steelers took on the Ravens. Matt and Steve share their recap thoughts, including Ben's 506 yards and 2 TDs. With the Pats up this week, the guys break down their thoughts heading into the game. AwesomeCast 377: The Best, Nerdiest Recommendations

As we near the end of 2017 we take the opportunity to fill the couch – both IRL and online – with some familiar faces. It’s a full house indeed with Jim Lokay, Will Rutherford, Mike Pound, Cynthia Closkey, John Carman, Bobby Cherry, Brian Crawford, and Krause. But, we’ve still got our usual faces with Sorg and Chilla, and a very special visit from our Patreon supporter, Michael Fedor. We’re starting the top of the show with everyone’s Awesome Thing of the Year items. Chilla’s Awesome Thing of the Year is his Apple AirPods. Brian’s Awesome Thing of the Year is NOT the tech items he recently purchased – but the sweet bag he got to carry it all! Krause’s Awesome Thing of the Year is his Google Pixel 2XL. Will’s Awesome Thing of the Year is a “really interesting idea.” He’s interested in TXT.FYI – a stripped down blog. Lokay’s Awesome Thing of the Year is HQ – the quiz app. Cynthia’s AirPods are her Awesome Thing for Life. As her Awesome Thing of the Year, she’s going with 17776. Mike Pound’s Awesome Thing of the Year is Amazon Echo. Patreoner Michael Fedor’s Awesome Thing of the Year is Patreon’s redo of their fee structure. Bobby is sharing his Awesome Thing of the Year – his Google Home. John Carman’s Awesome Thing of the Year is Google’s Pixel Buds. Sorg’s Awesome Thing of the Year is the realization of handheld internet through his AT&T Wireless plan. We’re running through our 2017 predictions from last year – and whether or not they actually came true. And, then we turn to predictions for 2018!(With a shout out to Rob Johnston and the Vine 2 launch!) Lokay: Vine2 is going to be a failure. Will Rutherford: Net neutrality is going to get pushed through and it’s going to be a kerfluffle. ISPs are going to do what ISPs do, but customers are going to drop like flies. They’re going to lose so much business that they’re going to roll things back and it will all be for naught. Mike Pound: Digital side of journalism is going to continue to build in 2018. Cynthia Closkey: Continued escalation of Google/Apple/Amazon streaming war. Apple TV available for sale on Amazon again. Michael Fedor: Disney will have one major purchase in the next year. (Jokingly introduced with: Living under the United States of Disney. Disney will pay down national debt and come in on some sort of crisis.) John Carman: We’re going to see the first Amazon Key burglary. Bobby Cherry: Elon Musk is going to have some breakthrough next year – through one of his companies. Chilla: We’re going to see another huge dropoff on PC technology. Brian Crawford: We’re going to start turning into cyborgs with our wearable tech and implant devices. We’re also going to see regulations regarding drones. Krause: AR is going to be a much bigger deal than even VR is now. Sorg: Podcasting is going to be de-emphasized in 2018. After the show remember to: Eat at Slice on Broadway (@Pgh_Slice) if you are in the Pittsburgh area! It is Awesome! Wrestling Mayhem Show 599: Earth 2 Daniel Bryan

Marcus Mann can't seem to get enough of the mayhem. He made the trek back to the studio to join Sorg, Bobby F J-Town and Mad Mike for this week's episode. We had a lot to chat about, including: 205 Live is going to do house shows starting in January? On paper 205 Live is the best indy show ever. We need to see how it is in reality. Marcus Mann is educating us on the difference of a 205 Live show on TV versus live and how much better high flyers are live. Someone may have just compared Enzo to Eddie Guerrero. Marcus Mann is educating Sorg on Noam Dar and wrestling outside the US. We're reminiscing on that time when Rizz interviewed Pete Dunne. Just because we're not seeing people from CWC and Mae Young Classic popping up yet doesn't mean WWE lost their numbers. Just wait. Did you see DJ Z at a show - - - in a library? Jim Johnston was released from the WWE. We're sharing some thoughts. Since we've got Marcus Mann on the sofa, we're talking about the recent RYSE anniversary show. A Power Point presentation is over on 205 Live. This week's Big Question: Which superstar had the best potential and would have been a bigger WWE star if Vince McMahon hadn't gotten in the way? The one that got away - that don't know they got away. What did YOU learn in wrestling this week? AwesomeCast 376: The Wheels on the VR Desert Bus

It’s just the boys this week! But, Sorg and Chilla hold down the fort as they share this week’s news in tech. This week they’re talking about: It’s our last episode before our Christmas edition next week, and we’re feeling pretty festive already. Sorg is sharing his Awesome Thing of the Week. Desert Bus is (finally) on VR! Chilla has some Android news as his Awesome Thing of the Week with a file-to-file transfer option. Sorg is discussing just how much data our tech savvy household uses. It’s almost staggering. There’s a YouTube video from 1999 that talks about Amazon. It’s amazing. Whiteboard app is coming to Microsoft. According to Sorg, Nintendo is like the Disney vault of video games. With games like Animal Crossing, where’s the Legend of Zelda integration for our phones? Amazon is not happy with Google. Or is that the other way around? YouTube will no longer be available on Amazon devices?!?! How about a stripped down blogging tool without social media tools? There’s such a thing to get you back to the basics of blogging, without the bells and whistles. HP has a wearable computer for VR! Google updated Google Home to now accept multiple commands. Chilla has been waiting for this day for so long. Sorg is showing off his teddy bears. After the show remember to: Eat at Slice on Broadway (@Pgh_Slice) if you are in the Pittsburgh area! Wrestling Mayhem Show 598: Pale Leader, Badass Brunette, Hot Blonde

The Heir Apparent, Chris LeRusso, graces us with his presence this week! He is joined by Sorg, Bobby, Larry, and Mad Mike to talk this week in wrestling, including:WMS The most interesting news of the week - it's like a real life Sold Out, but it'll be better. Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks are booking their own show guys! We're talking some interesting speculations on this Cody Rhodes and Young Bucks show. It's amazing what difference seating arrangements can make for a wrestling show. Stephen Amell can do anything with wrestling, and we're okay with it. We're taking a bit of a deep dive into some thoughts on Delirious. Sooo....Absolution, huh? With the call-up, NXT has to restock. We have some thoughts. The 2018 PPV schedule has been released. There's some good news in this, guys. This week's Big Question: What is the match that made you feel the most awkward watching it? We realize there are a TON of circumstances in wrestling that are kinda awkward. What did YOU learn in wrestling this week? AwesomeCast 375: Port-a-Potty Pizza Party

Katie and Sorg are joined by Doug Derda this week. We were able to get Katie and Sorg away from Animal Crossing long enough to talk about this week’s news in tech, including: Katie is torn between her iPhone X and being dubbed in German as her Awesome Thing of the Week. Katie is talking about some of the cool stuff she’s done with her iPhone X for video. Doug is talking the future of smartphones with Samsung’s new battery tech that could fully charge a phone in minutes. Sorg is blaming Katie for his addiction to his Awesome Thing of the Week – Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. Y’know what, if you don’t want to wait 7 hours for pizza, head over to Slice and get some perfect pepperoni pizza. Although net neutrality issues aren’t cool, Pitchwerks put the perfect explanation together with some help from Spare Change. Shout out to Brian Crawford for picking up an iPad Pro. Speaking of – we’re talking about his question about whether or not we need a traditional laptop anymore. Watching TV while playing video games? Doug is talking about how things are changing. Back to the Future reference thanks to Doug and his multiple device usage commentary. If we’re doing all this stuff IRL, can you imagine VR adaptations? We talked last week about Ello coming back. People have noticed. There is naked spam. We’re talking some Carnegie Science Center omnimax upgrades! Want to kick your smartphone addiction? There’s a Substitute Phone to help you. After the show remember to: Shop small with our neighbors here in Beechview this weekend. At a quarter of the way through the season, the guys are taking a look at who they think is MVP worthy for the first quarter. As promised, it's on to some NCAA discussion! Though they're the home team, Matt and Steve share some thoughts about horrible Pitt is. If any of our local teams should get a big bowl chance, the guys have some thoughts on PSU and WVU for that big picture. Wrestling Mayhem Show 597: Paul Heyman is an Evil Genius

He's no Paul Heyman, but we can afford his booking fees! That's right, Church makes the drive to the new studio to join us on the big purple couch. He joins Larry, Chad, and Sorg to talk this week in wrestling, including: Larry is ready to jump right in with some War Games discussion! So wait - NO ROOF for War Games? Larry was impressed with Velveteen Dream during War Games. Of course Sorg is talking about the video implications involved with War Games. As crazy as War Games is - remember that Arn Anderson has been involved in 18 of them. Wondering what we're talking about? WWE has a War Games section on the WWE Network. Check out some of the NXT talent you're seeing on WWE - quite a few of them have some great content on the Indy Wrestling scene. We enjoy watching Booker T because it reminds us of Drunk Uncle Booker. We're talking some Survivor Series! Survivor Series became Bragging Rights. Shield v New Day match made us feel pretty good. Shinsuke having a chance to lock up with HHH was pretty awesome. We got some opportunities to see some great matches that we normally haven't seen at Survivor Series. Paul Heyman is an Evil Genius. Has the UK Championship become the new European Title? This week's Big Question is in the spirit of Thanksgiving. What are you thankful for in wrestling? There's been a bit of an invasion happening with NXT talent showing up on RAW and Smackdown. We're sharing some thoughts. What did YOU learn in wrestling this week? John Carman joins us in studio as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday. Together with our usual tech hounds – Sorg, Chilla, and Katie, the gang shares some of this week’s tech news, including: Chilla is kicking things off with his Awesome Thing of the Week with Tesla chargers. Sorg and friends are getting into a deep dive about iPhone and Android options now that phones are holding up better – negating the “need” to upgrade. Looking to get an iPhone X? You can actually check Walmart’s offerings as an option. A hologram player that lets you interact with 3D holograms? Yes, please. Want a smart light switch with Echo capabilities? There’s a solution for that. Katie is all about the dino nuggets and Animal Crossing! She’s sharing some news about that second one now. Tesla has a semi truck. KFC has an escape pod (faraday cage)? BC Steele is in studio with us this week! He is joined by our usual cast of characters – Sorg and Larry. And, hot off his video game weekend for Extra Life, Bobby F J-Town is live via the internets as we talk this week in wrestling, including: Survivor Series – something we always seem to forget about until it’s upon us. WWE is stepping up their game with Survivor Series by calling in some big names to be in-ring with the brand split. There is buzz around this year’s Survivor Series – some good; some bad; but, legit buzz. We’re breaking down some AJ Styles v Brock Lesnar. What talent does WWE have in the pipeline to sustain them 5 years from now? This may be the oldest Survivor Series talent line-up. The Shield vs The New Day – We’re looking at a potentially good tag match. We’re calling a Kurt Angle singles match by Wrestlemania. Anyone else notice that WWE uses their own terminology – like “local medical facility” and “title held in abeyance?” The Charlotte v Alexa Bliss match has the potential to steal the show. War Games is coming. We’re sharing some thoughts. The many faces of Alicia Fox. It’s time for this week’s Big Question: What is your favorite Broadway (long time limit) match? (Thanks Tina.) The Ric Flair 30-for-30. We watched it. We’re talking about it. What did YOU learn in wrestling this week?
