And let your body, unfold in peace with each breath. LONG PAUSE Now turn inward, and take a moment to express gratitude for all that is in your life. LONG PAUSE And while relaxing, let your heart and mind focus on you. This time is all about you. LONG PAUSE Imagine now, a tiny light opening in your center. The light is flowing with colors: White, yellow, orange, and red. PAUSE And, this light seems to form in an area of your body that feels delicate, an area where you’ve carried pain or hurt. PAUSE Yet, as the light shines, it absorbs the hurt, taking away the sting of the feeling. PAUSE The light glows, and after a moment, you understand that the light is really a tiny flame, a flame of energy. PAUSE The flame dances from side-to-side, and slowly begins to grow, giving off a feeling of strength, of power rising from the inside. PAUSE As it touches hurt, pain or grief, it swallows the feelings, leaving ashes that simply float away. It replaces them with strength. PAUSE Soon the energy flame has danced and grown all through your core, radiating pure strength. PAUSE As it grows, there may be a part of you that is hesitant– a part of you questions just how strong you are. PAUSE The flame invites you to embrace all of you. It whispers within that you have incredible strength– strength beyond your imagination. PAUSE And as the flame shines, it gives off more power. You notice that its edges begin to change, to fan out in different directions. PAUSE The flame transforms slowly until you notice what appears to be wings opening on each side and the shape of a head. PAUSE After a moment, the shape evolves into a bird, a Phoenix, the bird of fire and power. PAUSE Now, imagine that this beautiful bird of fire, this bird of strength and energy enfolds all of you in its wings. PAUSE Then, slowly, you and the phoenix rise, lifting above the house into the night sky. PAUSE The air is cool, and you feel completely comfortable with this powerful energy carrying you higher. PAUSE Against the night sky, the fiery phoenix shines like a beacon of hope for you, glowing brighter than the moon and stars. PAUSE Then the phoenix pauses, and opens its wings. And as it does, you realize your arms are the fiery wings. You and the phoenix are one. PAUSE Suspended against backdrop of the night sky, you feel the blaze of energy, the strength and passion of the phoenix as it courses through you, empowering you. PAUSE And with this bold, new energy, You, the phoenix, glide back to your room, to a welcome bed. PAUSE As you land, the wings of fire fold inward, ready for you to call on them again, at any time. PAUSE You understand that you are a phoenix, with great strength and power, and you can rise from the ashes again and again. Nothing keeps you down. Your stomach churns, Your head spins, Every part of you is uncomfortable. PAUSE… It all feels so real, But take a deep breath… And you’ll see. That all this emotional discomfort. All this worry and anxiety and fear, Exists in the past and in the future. So breathe in deeply, And allow your breath to pull you here, Into the present, Far away from all of it. PAUSE… Your regrets, Shame, Or sadness, All your emotions are real. But the emotions exist, For things that happened in the past. PAUSE… So imagine yourself breathing them out, With every exhale. Slowly releasing their hold on your heart, And on your mind. LONG PAUSE… All your worries, Anxieties, And fears, All your emotions are real. But the emotions exist, For things you foresee for the future. PAUSE… So imagine yourself breathing them out, With every exhale, Slowly releasing their hold on your heart, And on your mind. LONG PAUSE… This moment, Right now, Is all you have. Is all there is. PAUSE… So ease your emotional discomfort, By choosing to live in the present. Pulling yourself deeper here, With every single life-giving breath. LONG PAUSE… Let go of control, Let go of the emotions. This moment right here is what you have. PAUSE… So open yourself up, With all of your imperfections, With all of your humanness, And pray for grace, Pray for peace, Pray for love. PAUSE… Feel them wash over you, Filling your beautiful soul, And covering you in a soft, warm blanket. PAUSE… Let your heart and mind be soothed, Let your body be relaxed. And be here. LONG PAUSE Your breathing naturally slows, and your body sinks gently into the folds of your bed. LONG PAUSE You keep breathing, becoming aware of your breath, and of the lightness of your body. It feels delicious. LONG PAUSE As you continue breathing slowly, comfortably, imagine yourself in a warm shower with the beads of water streaming down your back. PAUSE The watery massage relaxes you, and lets your mind, as well as your muscles, ease up naturally. PAUSE You put your head in the shower stream, and let the warm water droplets massage your scalp and neck. PAUSE After a few moments of relaxing in the steamy water, a vision appears. The steam of the shower transforms into mist of a forest. PAUSE You follow the mist in your vision, and it leads you to the edge of a lake. PAUSE Slowly, you tip your toe into the lake. The magical waters send healing ripples of energy Through you. PAUSE You descend into the lake, letting your body be enveloped in healing. PAUSE Each drop of water that touches you, renews you, restores your energy. PAUSE You gently roll onto your back, floating comfortably in the water. Your eyes scan the lush green forest circling the lake. You smile at the hidden gem of nature that has revealed itself to you. PAUSE Gazing up at the powdery blue sky, you see dozens of clouds like painted streams across a canvas. PAUSE Colorful birds fly in and out of the forest, chirping in joy and then soaring into the wispy clouds above. PAUSE A pink and green fish jumps, plopping into the water and sending bubbles to the surface like secret smoke signals. PAUSE In the distance, a mother deer and her fawn quietly lap up the water from the lake, then scamper off. PAUSE While floating on your back, you notice the sunlight filtering through the trees, each thread of light casting shadows of leaves and trees. PAUSE While gazing at the sunlight, two brown squirrels chase each other in the trees, causing the sunlight to shimmy and shake as it reflects. PAUSE Slowly, you paddle to the side of the lake where a large towel magically opens, waiting to embrace you. PAUSE The cushy towel folds around you, gently drying you and warming you, and you take moment to thank the lake and the forest for all their beauty. PAUSE You snuggle deep in the towel And close your eyes. When you open them again, you are home in your own bathroom wrapped in a towel. PAUSE And though your time at the forest lake has ended, the peace and beauty it brought rests comfortably inside you now and always. Allow yourself to feel gentle lull of magic as it relaxes and enlightens you. LONG PAUSE Stay with the feeling of magic, as a welcome spell of serenity is cast upon you. LONG PAUSE Draw in another breath, And as you do, visualize yourself on horseback, on a snow white stallion, trotting through the forest in spring. PAUSE After a few moments, the horse slows to a walk, and then stops, as if taking in all the life of the forest. PAUSE A canopy of trees seems to part and opens into a vibrant green clearing with a large rock positioned in the center. PAUSE The rock is heavy with gray and white notches and valleys carved around it. Tiny sprigs of grass grow at its base. PAUSE The rock is surrounded By people, Men and women dressed in gowns, suits of armor and even the clothes of peasants. PAUSE Then, you notice something odd. jutting up from the stone is a sword, a gleaming silver sword. PAUSE “Here ye, Here ye!” calls a man with a long dark beard. “Whosoever can removeth the sword, becomes the next ruler of the land.” PAUSE The man continues, “Only the bravest, wisest and most loyal and compassionate will be able to remove the sword.” PAUSE Still seated on your steed, you watch patiently, as many good men, and even women, go to the rock, grab the sword with white-knuckled hands, and try to withdraw it. But the sword would not budge. PAUSE After a while, you dismount from the horse, lead her by the reins to a tree, where you gently wrap the rein around the tree. You pet her nose lovingly, and rub her neck, Before moving closer to the crowd. PAUSE Three others try their luck, but still, no one has retrieved the sword. you draw in a breath, deep and low, and then step forward. PAUSE “You?” says the man with the beard. “Aye,” you reply with confidence. “Very well,” he says. PAUSE You draw in another deep, stabilizing breath and approach the rock. Placing your feet against the bottom of the rock, you reach up, and with both hands encircling the handle of the sword, you gently tug. PAUSE Every so gently, the sword releases a few inches. gasps and claps rise from the crowd. PAUSE You nod to the crowd, and the reposition your footing. again, you reach and pull the sword. Again, it moves, slowly at first, until the rock releases it like butter. PAUSE Cheers and claps erupt from the crowd, as you raise the sword above. There is a power in the sword, an energy of magic. And you know that this is now yours. PAUSE The man with a beard comes to shake your hand and to place a golden crown upon your head. But it is the sword’s magic, it’s promise of power for good that moves you most. PAUSE You bow to the crowd, and then find your horse, mount her, and ride toward the sun, with a crown upon your head, a powerful sword in your hand, and magic in your heart. LONG PAUSE Once you’ve found the perfect place in your bed, the one where you’re the most comfy, tune into yourself. LONG PAUSE And as you tune into yourself, you pick up delicate vibrations, like an antenna. LONG PAUSE The vibrations murmur within you, and soon, You feel your own vibration Connecting– Two frequencies aligning. PAUSE The vibration changes slightly, and with it, an image of a Victorian home lights up before you, and then gently draws you in. PAUSE Standing on the porch of the home, the door opens, inviting you into the home and into a feeling of love flowing. PAUSE The love envelopes you, creating a sense of welcome and a desire to learn more. PAUSE You feel comfortable and well received in the home, and a sofa with curled arms calls you to sit down. PAUSE You settle into the sofa, and in seconds, the house ignites with life– with couples dancing, laughter in the air, and champagne flowing freely in glasses. PAUSE You walk to the kitchen and are greeted by several women bustling about, preparing trays and trays of food. PAUSE The air is overflowing with the smells of fresh bread, sweet pies, roasted Chicken, and braised beef. PAUSE The women wipe their hands on their aprons, and turn to greet you for just a second. PAUSE Then, an older woman with gray hair, claps her hands, summoning everyone back to work. PAUSE As you leave the kitchen, one woman hands you a golden roll, fresh-baked in the oven. PAUSE The roll melts like butter in your mouth, and you savor every morsel even licking your fingers. PAUSE As you saunter through the house, you come across more rooms filled with people laughing, eating, drinking and dancing. PAUSE At the other end of the house, a pair of French doors open, leading you into a lavish garden. PAUSE Rows of daffodils, tulips and teacup roses, greet you with their striking colors and delightful aromas. PAUSE At the far end of the garden stands a young woman in an ornate bridal gown, of white organdy and tulle with drapes of lace. PAUSE Her face is aglow, as she gazes at the man who has just become her husband. PAUSE They both join hands and walk past you to a room where they waltz together. PAUSE As they pass you, they nod and smile, warmly acknowledging you as their guest. PAUSE After a few moments of watching the couple dance, something inside you lets you know your time at the wedding Is coming to a close. PAUSE You naturally return to the sofa sit quietly and wait, while the house returns to a peaceful silence. The men, women, and children fade into the twilight. PAUSE Yet, although the ancestors have left, their abundance of love and acceptance still permeates the air and in your heart. PAUSE And, as you walk out the door, you carry the love and acceptance with you. Meditation: Stop Tossing and Turning

LONG PAUSE… The motion inside your head is fast, As scenes of your day come alive. And all the emotions that have been dormant, Are suddenly here to thrive. PAUSE… Your body hears the noise, And feels the vibrations in your veins. So you toss and turn in your bed, And frustratingly submit to the pain. PAUSE… But you don’t have to suffer, You can surrender to peaceful sleep. Just let go of the thoughts, And let yourself melt into the deep. The easiest way to start, Is to focus on your breath. Letting yourself follow it, Noticing its cadence, its depth. PAUSE… Then feel a warm glow, Gently soothe your head, Relaxing your eyes, Melting you into your bed. PAUSE… Let it move down your body, Your shoulders releasing with ease, Your chest, Your belly, Your hips, It warms you to your knees. LONG PAUSE… Soon the warm glow hums, Upon your beating heart. Here she begins to speak, There’s wisdom she wants to impart. PAUSE… Relax, she says, This day is done, There’s nothing for you to do. Let all those thoughts drift away, So sleep can replenish you. LONG PAUSE… You breathe in deep, And snuggle in, You’re free to dream at last. Nothing needs to be figured out, Those thoughts can easily pass. LONG PAUSE… Feel your body melt, And your eyes get heavy and calm. Relax even further now, Deep deep sleep is where you belong. LONG PAUSE… Goodnight, sweet one, You’re safe right now, The night holds you with care. Your mind is clear, And your body’s calm, Your dreaming is your prayer. LONG PAUSE Now, imagine, if you can, sitting by crystal blue river on a cool spring day. PAUSE The sun is glowing brightly. The sky is sapphire blue. And the trees are coming alive with tiny, colorful buds. PAUSE The air is a mixture of the sun’s warmth and the cool crispness in the breeze. It feels lovely lapping against your cheeks. PAUSE Pause in this beauty, and take it in through your senses. PAUSE And now, imagine, if you can, an area of bubbles popping in the center of the river. The bubbles fascinate you, as they grow bigger and bigger. PAUSE After a moment, the bubbles seem to come together, as if forming a shape. PAUSE And, as you watch, a beautiful woman, rises from the bubbles, into the air before you. PAUSE She is robed in white buffalo, with onyx hair gently cascading around her. An silvery ethereal glow shimmers around her. PAUSE The maiden draws closer to you. She nods. Instinctively, you nod, too. “I am the Spirit of the Water,” she says. PAUSE Then, the maiden Invites you to the water’s edge. You follow and kneel on the bank, and at her encouraging, gently make a whirlpool with your hand. “The water is alive,” she says to you. “Feel the life of the water.” PAUSE A tiny pulse charges through your hand, As you continue making whirlpools. Feelings of life and renewal surge through you. The water is alive. PAUSE Then, the woman drifts back to the center of the river. She looks to the sky and raises her hands. A soft drum beats in the background. PAUSE After a moment, A flock of birds arrives and drinks the waters of the river. They squawk and chirp, filled with life and energy. PAUSE Then a moose trots to the edge of the river, The tip of his nose nuzzling the life-giving water while his tongue partakes. PAUSE Moments later, The maiden raises her arms again. Within seconds, hundreds of colorful wildflowers bloom around the bank. Pink, yellow, blue, white flowers dot the landscape and send a pleasing, sweet aroma into the air. PAUSE A gurgling noise catches your attention. Gazing into the waters, you see dozens of fish gnawing on river grass and burbling. One jumps and wriggles in the air. PAUSE Then, the maiden draws close to you. She reaches into the river, cupping her hands, and offering you a drink. You accept and drink in the water. PAUSE As you drink, The life of the water, pulses through you, bestowing energy and power upon you. PAUSE The maiden nods to you, and returns to the center of the river, where a swell of bubbles brings her home to her water. PAUSE And, while you may not see her anymore, you feel her spirit, The water’s spirit, bubbling in you. And you feel the beautiful wildflowers opening with life. And the birds singing with joy. And the animals rejuvenating, All from the life of the water. The water is alive in you. It may not be sure where it's heading, But it always knows where it belongs. PAUSE… Think about how you’re like that leaf, Singular and yet one of many. A beautiful, strong free spirit, Carrying the potential of countless others. PAUSE… Or perhaps you’re still attached to your tree, Fluttering softly on your branch. Providing shade and oxygen, To take care of all those below. PAUSE… It’s easy to feel like leaves are too small, To do much on their own, But when energies align for the greater good, Each piece of the whole has meaning. PAUSE… So whether you’re off making your own way, Or you’re sticking closer to the tree, You’ll always be part of where you started, Always tied to your true home. As you inhale, try to feel your connections, the ties that make you who you are. As you exhale, think of what your spirit adds, how your strength supports those bonds. LONG PAUSE… Let those thoughts add to your peace, Let them fill you with confidence and grace. Just like the tree you come from, Your life has purpose and power. LONG PAUSE And once you’re in that perfect position, become aware of your body in bed. Notice where your hands are, and what parts of your back, sink into the sheets. LONG PAUSE Feel your head, in the plush embrace of your pillow, and how deeply comfortable, it feels now. LONG PAUSE Take a minute, and just enjoy these feelings, these feelings of complete comfort, and total relaxation. PAUSE Now, imagine a road and a small car, and the road is narrow and winding, as it snakes its way, into some beautiful rocky hills. PAUSE And as your driving, you notice the steering wheel, iIs not where it normally is: It’s on the other side. PAUSE And with that realization, another comes: You’re in the beautiful Scottish highlands. PAUSE You roll down the window, and breathe in, cool, refreshing air, noticing a blue sky, with puffs of cloud, sprinkled between the hills. PAUSE As the car drives on, you pass some sheep grazing, and you decide to stop. PAUSE The sheep welcome you, as you come, gently petting them, running your fingers softly, through their fleecy coats. PAUSE After a moment, you hear a collective, “Bah,” and somehow you understand: They are grateful for your visit. PAUSE Back in the car, you drive until you see a small village sprouting up from the ground. PAUSE As you draw closer to the village, a stone church catches your eye. The church’s gray steeple cuts through the air, towering over the village, reverent, like in prayer. PAUSE You stop for just a moment to see the inside of the church, and are struck by the hundreds of candles flickering under statues and paintings of saints. PAUSE The air is tinged with incense, and you realize the church was in service just before your arrival. PAUSE You find a quiet spot on a pew, and say a prayer for peace, breathing in the calm and beauty of the little church. Then you return to the car to explore some more. PAUSE As you approach the outskirts of the village, a small tavern on a rocky hill catches your eye, and you stop to warm up. PAUSE Once you arrive, the distinctive sound of bagpipes playing hums in your ear– with notes thick like honey. PAUSE Inside the little pub, men and women sip pints in hand-crafted pewter mugs and laugh. Their cheeks are rosy from the cold air. PAUSE You order a drink and find a seat at a long wooden table where older men talk and talk, completely unaware of the bagpipes playing. PAUSE A woman with flowing red hair approaches you with a steaming bowl of soup teeming with fish, onions and potatoes. PAUSE The soup is warm and cozy, and you can feel it’s soothing heat moving from your mouth to your stomach, and it feels wonderful. PAUSE As you enjoy the last drop of the warm elixir, you thank the woman who kindly served you, and bid her farewell. There is one more place to see. PAUSE You drive away from the pub into the countryside until a magnificent medieval castle springs from the landscape. PAUSE You stop and go in. The castle is cool, like a cave, and you pull your sweater around you. PAUSE Throughout the castle are armors from ancestral knights, antique paintings, and chairs of wood or iron. PAUSE You find a room with fireplace and sit next to the burning flame. The warmth is welcome. Close your eyes and take a breath, And clear all thoughts from your mind. PAUSE… You’ve been working so very hard, For hours and likely days. You go and go and go some more, Toiling in so many different ways. PAUSE… It’s easy to fall into a pattern, With no room for checking in. You see to the needs of so many others, And then forget to look within. PAUSE… Your heart is in the right place, Your intentions are the best. You don’t mean to neglect yourself, As you do so much work without rest. PAUSE… But the time has come to make a change, To turn your attention inward. Use this time, this twilight time, To recoup what’s been deferred. PAUSE… Start by being still and quiet, Let your body slow its pace. From mind to heart to muscles and cells, Give yourself some space. PAUSE… Listen to sound of your breathing, Tune into the gentle beat of your heart. Hear your body’s music, As you let the background noise depart. PAUSE… When you feel in touch with your rhythm, When you feel calm and serene, Let your mind drift where it wants, See what secrets are begging to be seen. PAUSE… Look at the things you’ve held out of sight, As you’ve rushed to keep up with the world. Look for what needs your attention, For the thoughts that have gone unheard. Take a breath and savor it, enjoy the chance to breathe. Exhale that breath and feel release, the kind your body craves. LONG PAUSE… Think about what’s been missing for you, In recent days and weeks. Think about what fell to the bottom of the list, As the squeaky wheel got its grease. PAUSE… It’s only human nature, To respond to what calls your name. But when those calls never seem to cease, It’s your spirit that feels the pain. PAUSE… There’s a special kind of exhaustion, That results from over-serving. Once it starts, it’s tough to stop, And even harder to feel deserving. PAUSE… Though it may seem scary to make a change, It doesn’t have to be drastic. Instead of throwing things out of your life, You can try a softer tactic. PAUSE… Use this time at the end of each day, To bring your thoughts back to you. Choose a yearning that went unseen, And make a promise to see it through. PAUSE… Tune in to what your soul is whispering. Listen to what it’s prompting you to do. Imagine how it would feel to take a leap, To explore something exciting and new. PAUSE… Even more than the novelty, What matters is the choice. To hear what your spirit needs from you, Is the first step toward finding your voice. PAUSE… It takes quite a bit of practice, To make yourself a priority. But each tiny step has massive power, Each one gives more authority. PAUSE… Though life would have us ignore these clues, To do so takes a toll. Once you learn to consult yourself, You’re on the path to being whole. Breathe in and imagine being whole, the fulfilled being you’re meant to be. Breathe out and know it’s possible, that you need only hear your own plea. LONG PAUSE… It’s all about getting started, About taking the time for yourself. To learn what you need and embrace it, Even when the world demands something else. PAUSE… If you’re truly honest with yourself, Much of what you need comes as no surprise. Whether a longtime yearning or a recent must, You’ve likely been ignoring the signs. PAUSE… Time just feels so limited, Growing shorter each day and year. Then he scurries along, Knowing he is safe. Knowing that you are part of the night. PAUSE As you walk, water ripples softly in the distance. You walk toward it; Stopping at a tiny brook bubbling her truth for anyone or thing that will listen. PAUSE You wait by the brook, fascinated by the shimmering of light in the water. LONG PAUSE And as you hear your heart, shift your focus to connect with your body, and notice your mind and body are synching together and relaxing. LONG PAUSE Now, take a moment, and feel the calm of the night gently moving through you. Stay with this feeling. LONG PAUSE Now, draw in a breath, and envision yourself catching sight of a moonbeam that finds its way in room dancing past the curtains. PAUSE It looks like a silvery slide, and as the curtains move, ever so slightly, so does the moonbeam, pulsing rhythmically like it was dancing the Charleston. PAUSE And as the moonbeam dances, you can feel the shimmering pulse of its beat, a pulse that connects you with this orb of intuition, the moon. PAUSE After a moment, a vision of the moon appears before you, A sliver of light captivating you. PAUSE And as the slender curve of light rests before you, there’s a feeling of power that it brings. PAUSE It doesn’t matter that it’s just a moon in its early phase: It awakens intuition and awareness within you, powers that want to grow. PAUSE And then, imagine that the suspended moon expands, so that half the orb is bathed in sterling light. PAUSE And as the moon grows to the first quarter phase, so do your desires to create. PAUSE Drawing in a breath, you see yourself writing, painting, sculpting, drawing, anything that taps your creative, intuitive spirit, or potentiates growth, comes alive in you. PAUSE And as your creations, of thought and physical form blossom, so does your confidence. There’s a growing sense within that you stand tall and feel empowered to take on the world. PAUSE The moonlight shimmies, and before you unfolds a stunning full moon, resplendent in its pearlescent glow. PAUSE As the moon dances, and illuminates the room, it casts the light of awareness in and around you. PAUSE You become aware that the seeds of your creations are far-reaching and can impact others. PAUSE The full moon also lets you see what else you might want to do, the things you want to change, and how to make what you want in the world better. PAUSE After shining brightly for a while, the moon wriggles and some of its light dims. half of its light is gone, as it is now a third-quarter moon. PAUSE And despite the change in light, you feel inspired to take stock of your work, and implement some of the changes that the full moon has brought into awareness. Think about those changes. PAUSE Inspiration glows inside you and continues to move you, helping you become more aware and grow even more. You feel inspired and in charge of your life. PAUSE The moonlight pauses again, this time dimming back to the sliver of light it began with. This cycle is ending. PAUSE And with this phase, you feel a sense of accomplishment, a sense that your work, your creations, were worth it. PAUSE You embrace this feeling and reflect on it, as it brings stillness and peace into your heart. PAUSE And though the moon dims further until it bears no light, you feel its light shimmering, pulsing within you, and you know that the cycle will ignite again soon. Let your arms relax into the water, letting them naturally spread and release. Let your chest, back and stomach surrender to the buoyancy of the water. And let your legs open and your feet fall to the sides as you surrender yourself to the water. PAUSE… You can feel the warm water soothe you. Relax you. And as it does, you begin to feel a soft hum coming from the water, And see it glowing with a soft blue light. Feel the blue light embrace you through the water, And invite it to take away the pain, the worries and the brokenness. PAUSE… See yourself lying in this pool glowing with soft blue light, Releasing the heaviness, And letting yourself be healed as you breathe. PAUSE… Feel the warmth on your head as the healing blue light touches it, And then on your eyes, Your cheeks, Your mouth, And your neck. Let it heal you. PAUSE… Feel the healing blue light touch your shoulders, Your chest, Your arms and hands, Your stomach, And your hips. Breathe in this soft blue light and feel the warmth heal you, Feel it in your legs, Your feet, And your toes. And then imagine yourself covered completely in this soft, healing blue light. LONG PAUSE Let all the clamor of the day and the responsibilities and stress fall off you like water and then evaporate. LONG PAUSE And draw in one more deep breath and let it go, centering on your third eye, the space between your eyes. LONG PAUSE Now, envision walking on a hilly sidewalk in San Francisco with a brisk breeze nuzzling your cheeks. PAUSE On each side of you are glorious Victorian homes, in all pastels like an artist’s palette. PAUSE Curling around the homes are gorgeous bay windows that catch the sunlight, and where you see couples sit and chat and school girls read. PAUSE As you reach the top of the hill, you see ice blue water in the distance, and hear the sound of a cable car passing. PAUSE Children on the cable car wave to you, and you marvel at the young man who jumps off and pulls the lever to stop. PAUSE You board the cable car and find a seat on a brown wooden bench, just as a man calls, “All clear!” PAUSE Along the way, the cable car stops at the green dragon gates of Chinatown, and a group of women board. PAUSE The women quietly chatter, oblivious to anyone else, their voices thick with vowel sounds that cut off quickly. PAUSE As the cable car comes to a stop, you get off and walk to the end of a pier where a herd of sea lions stretches across the rocks. PAUSE The shiny black males bark and bob their heads up and down for emphasis. PAUSE While gazing at the creatures, a slender, tan female with dark eyes like magic pools catches your attention. PAUSE She lifts her head from a baby seal that is nestled close to her body and gazes directly at you. . PAUSE For a moment, you both watch each other, with a feeling of understanding passing between you. PAUSE A male calls for her, and the female returns her attention to her herd, with her baby cuddling even closer. You can’t help but smile. PAUSE Now, imagine if you can, closing your eyes and being transported from the pier to Golden Gate Park. PAUSE As you open your eyes, you find yourself right in front of the pagoda of the Japanese Tea Garden. PAUSE Your eyes climb the five-storied tiers of the pagoda, each fanning out in a beautiful red. PAUSE As you gaze at the beautiful structure, the energy of the pagoda seems to reach out to you, and fill you with heightened perception. To release all the worries, anxieties and emotions that seem to rain down upon you at the end of the day. So you can breathe deeply into peaceful sleep. So go ahead and let yourself settle into your bed, Getting yourself into your most favorite sleeping position. And take your first deep breath in, filling your chest and belly with the fresh air of the evening, And on your exhale, release out any tension you may be feeling in your body. Another deep breath in, expanding with nourishing oxygen, And exhale the heaviness. Last deep breath in, filling your belly as much as you can, And then let all the air out and fall deeper into your position. Bring your breathing to its natural, easy rhythm, And just be here for a bit, Aware of the natural slowing down of your breath, The slowing down of your heartbeat, The slowing down of your mind. Breathe… PAUSE… Thoughts may begin popping up, Wanting to invade your mind with visions of things to worry about, Tasks to finish, Even deep fears to feel. Just observe as these thoughts or visions arrive, And see if you can imagine moving them from out of your mind into an open, empty room. One by one, imagine yourself moving these thoughts into this room, shutting the door behind you each time you leave one. Move those thoughts, Place them in the room, Releasing their power, Releasing the pain, Releasing the tension, Releasing the anxiety. Breathe it all out of you, And feel yourself melt further into your bed. PAUSE… Now imagine yourself approaching the door to this room. Your mind is relaxed and you feel safe, knowing all of the thoughts, emotions and anxieties are outside of you and in this room. As the door opens, you look inside the room. And instead of it being full of everything you had just placed there, Instead, you see yourself sitting on the floor. This is you as a little child. She’s anxious. Scared. And the embodiment of all those worries and emotions you just placed here. PAUSE… Your body immediately fills with compassion for this little girl, for yourself. So you slowly approach her, sit down, And embrace her with tenderness and love. It’s okay, you hear yourself saying to her. Everything’s going to be okay. This moment is all there is and right now, you are safe, lying in your bed, listening to these words and surrounded by love. She melts in your arms and surrenders to you. Let it go, my love, you say. You are safe. And everything is already okay. It’s time to sleep. Let me hold you as you give yourself to the night, Trusting she will hold you with care, just as I am, And deliver you to the morning peacefully. PAUSE… Let it go. Let it all go. LONG PAUSE Breathe again, and imagine a beautiful woven basket gently scooping up any distracting thoughts and carrying them away. LONG PAUSE Feel your body relaxing even more deeply with each breath. Take a moment to lavish in the calm. LONG PAUSE While basking in the serenity, imagine seeing a tiny, twinkling light out of the corner of your eye. like a miniature sparkler, dancing, shimmering and flowing like a fountain of light. PAUSE After a few moments, the light takes shape, and a small, luminous figure appears: A fairy. PAUSE For a moment, Just look at the fairy. See her golden hair cascading in light. Notice her clothes made of leaves and petals, And see her wand aglow with magical light. PAUSE The fairy smiles at you, and you feel a wave of trust embed in your heart. “I’m Aya. Come with me,” she whispers. You know you can follow this fairy anywhere. PAUSE Aya sweeps her arms through the air, and a path of golden stardust appears. Then, the fairy cups her hands and gently blows fairy dust toward you. Magically, you rise from the bed, able to fly as nimbly as the fairy. PAUSE Together, you and Aya fly on the stardust path, into the night, past the houses and buildings, past bridges and waterways, until you reach the woods. The fairy pauses at the edge of the woods. “Are you ready for an adventure?” she whispers. You nod, feeling excitement and wonder. PAUSE Now, imagine if you can, taking the fairy’s hand and sailing into the woods. Tall trees light up as you pass them. Flowers and bushes glow when the fairy flies by. And, what you once thought was a quiet forest, is now alive in the most magical way. PAUSE Aya takes you to a large tree stump that immediately radiates with light as soon as you pause there. Minutes later, dozens of tiny sparkler lights appear. Fairies of all shapes and sizes surround you with smiles and light. “Learn from them,” Aya whispers. PAUSE A group of fairies approach. They wave their wands, and you fly with them deep into the bowels of the woods. PAUSE Imagine now, that when you and the fairies stop, Out of the black of night a magical workshop appears. As you look closer, you see this workshop has bits of damaged trees, shrubs and flowers in it. And the fairies are working on them. PAUSE One fairy with a round face and jolly laugh nods at you, beckoning you to follow him. He picks up a mended flower, and together, you fly to plant missing its beautiful flower. The fairy waves his wand and the mended flower adheres to the plant, in full bloom. Then you and the fairy return to the others. PAUSE Another group of fairies welcomes you to follow them. And together, you fly through the forest, until you reach a small house nestled in the heart of the forest. PAUSE You and the fairies enter the house in silence while a family sleeps. The fairies go to the kitchen, where there is noticeably little food, and with a wave of their wands they fill the barren cabinets With bread, vegetables and wine. They fill a pot with stew, ready for the family to heat up when they wake up. Then they leave, as silently as they came. PAUSE Back in the woods with the fairies, Aya meets you and you know that your time with the fairies has come to an end. You thank the fairies for all their hospitality and sharing. And you and Aya fly home on the stardust path. PAUSE… Invite the soft, glowing hand of the night to rest on your neck and your shoulders, Feeling the warmth spread itself deep into the muscles and joints. Relieving all the stress and anxiety you might be holding there. Exhale, And release it all. PAUSE… Welcome the tender hands of the night as they caress your arms, Your chest, And your belly, Softening everything it touches, Calling you to fall deeper into her arms, Deeper into the night. PAUSE… You are safe here, Cherished and nurtured by the stillness of the night. She’s here to guide you as you sleep tonight, Calming you, Restoring you, Loving you. PAUSE… So feel the calming, glowing hands of the night softly touch your upper back, And travel slowly down your spine. One vertebrae at a time, Releasing the pressure, Relaxing the muscles, And melting you further into your bed. Take a deep breath of that leafy air, let the lighthearted energy fill you. Exhale the breath but hold onto the joy, be that delighted child once again. LONG PAUSE… Travel back the long, hot summers, Running through sprinklers and playing tag. Squealing at the sound of the ice cream truck, And staying outside until daylight disappeared. PAUSE… On rainy days, you could play inside, Bringing those indoor toys to life. And then when the sun magically reappeared, Worms and puddles waited to be explored. PAUSE… Jumping in puddles was its own special game Sending water in every direction. It takes a certain kind of glee, To hop around with such abandon. PAUSE… Sink into that carefree energy, The feeling that life is yours to enjoy. The word ‘worry’ was likely a foreign one, While ‘fun’ was the primary goal. So close your eyes and settle your body into comfort, Moving it around a bit so you can snuggle into that position you know so well. When you’ve found it, take a deep breath in, feeling cool, refreshing air all the way down to your toes, And then exhale, Relaxing your body even deeper into your bed. PAUSE… Notice the smooth motion of your body. Softly expanding as you breathe in, And contracting as you breathe out. Notice how your body feels on your bed, Heavy, Supported, Relaxed. And notice your breath orchestrating it all, Filling your body with life with each breath in, And releasing the day with each breath out. Breathe in, And release. Breathe in, And release. PAUSE… Now see if you can imagine a soft, gentle force lifting you off of your bed, Cradling you as you float up into the air. You feel light. Safe, And soothed by the cool night air. Let yourself float. Up, up, up. PAUSE… Soon, you’re floating in the dark sea of space. Fall back into your weightlessness, Allowing your arms and legs to expand with curiosity as they play with the absence of gravity. And breathe… PAUSE… You see the Earth. Her vibrant blues and greens whisper to you, Telling you her secrets, Reminding you just how majestic she is. A deeply complex orchestration of oxygen, carbon, and atoms that create the melodies of life. You look at her in awe, And immediately the life you left just moments ago, Makes so much more sense to you. You can see clearly what matters. You can see clearly what doesn’t. From here, from this perspective, You feel the calm presence of the universe. All around you. Inside of you. One with you. And you can feel all those worries or anxieties or thoughts that were stumbling you just hours ago, begin to crumble. Disintegrating amongst the vast open blackness of outer space. As you relax deeper and float. PAUSE… You feel the warmth of the sun upon you, You feel its power, And know it’s your source. It feeds you with its sunlight. Feeds your body, Feeds your mind, Feeds your soul. So calm your body as you inhale the warm rays of sunlight. Let every inbreath nourish you with its energy, And restore you on your journey tonight. PAUSE… Let yourself float. Into the arms of the Sun. Into the arms of the Earth. Into the arms of the Universe. And let them carry you gently back here, To the soft, comforting blankets of your bed. Ready to soothe you with her light, and guide you to deep sleep. So close your eyes and stretch out your limbs, Extending your arms and legs as far as they can reach. As if you were reaching out to touch the moon. Take a deep breath in, And as you exhale, release your body from its stretch, Allowing yourself to settle into your most favorite sleeping position. Connect to the rhythm of your breath. Feeling your body expand with every inhale, And relax deeper with every exhale. Breathe in, Breathe out. PAUSE… Feel the cool energy of the moon. Her light is reflecting down from above, And calling you to dream. So imagine that you’re standing in your most favorite spot in nature. Perhaps you find yourself on the beach, Or in the open space of your backyard, Or maybe you see yourself on a hiking trail or even the familiar streets of your neighborhood. Wherever you are, see yourself in this space. Breathe in the freshness of the night’s air. And relax just a little more as you feel the safe, luminous light of the moon covering you. PAUSE… Feel yourself beginning to walk, Feeling the earth beneath your bare feet, Feeling her warmth rising to connect with your feet on every step. You raise your head slightly to the sky, Drinking in the divine, feminine energy from la luna, The magical force of nature who lovingly gives you her rhythms, her cycles and her power. Feel her love cover you, As you walk under her moonlight tonight. PAUSE… Relax your body deeper, Deeper, Deeper into your bed, Releasing all the thoughts, All the tension, All the pain, All the emotions, Through your breath, Letting them all go on every outbreath. And invite in the warmth from the moon, Feeling it soften you. PAUSE... Walk, my love, and feel her love with each step you take. Let the moonlight guide you and protect you. LONG PAUSE Breathe in some more, softly affirming that your Truth is peace, balance and calmness. Let those feelings Blend into who you are. LONG PAUSE Breathe again, Observing those feelings, Acknowledging their place in you, Feel the fullness of this Truth, Emanating inside and out. LONG PAUSE And from this Truth of peace, There is light; And, there is power. Flowing gently in your aura, Becoming the light you radiate. You are the light of peace. Peace is your Truth. PAUSE And, as you draw near the lioness, There is no fear. Instead, she greets you in peace and balance and calmness. PAUSE After a moment, Three little cubs nudge their way around their mother. Each cub brings a new energy, A new Truth. PAUSE Imagine now, seeing the smallest cub approach you, Wide-eyed, Yet, full of peace. You can feel the peace. PAUSE The second cub approaches, She hops near you, Landing on one foot, then the other, Filled with balance. You can feel the balance. PAUSE The last little cub, Scooches on the ground near you with ease, bringing you a smile and calmness. You feel the calmness. PAUSE After a few moments, the lioness gets up And walks closer to the cubs, Closer to you. PAUSE The lioness waits for a minute, And then extends her paw, As if inviting you to be part of her and part of her cubs. PAUSE You take a breath, Feeling the energy, of the lioness and the cubs, Branching out inside you. You reach out to the lioness, Touch her smooth, tan skin And breathe. PAUSE Then, after a minute, you understand. You are the lioness. You must protect your cubs, Your Truths. PAUSE Breathe. And let yourself Come back to your room, Come back to your bed, Come back in peace and balance and calmness. PAUSE And now, as you drift into dreams, You feel those Truths around you. Like a cozy blanket That you honor, Trust, And Protect. Always. Always. Always. Deep into the stillness of your soul, Where mountains of acceptance rise from the ground, And valleys of peace meander through the landscape. Relax into the solace found here, And surrender yourself to the deep sleep that awaits you. I know it feels uncomfortable, All those things left unsettled. You want answers, Clear paths to peace. But they are nowhere to be found right now. PAUSE… The impatient child within us screams for relief, As the adult in us is tempted to escape, Numbing ourselves with things that make us forget for brief moments how uncomfortable it all is. But resist the urge to escape, my love, You don’t need to be numb. There are answers here in the discomfort, Clarity here in the stillness. But you must first walk through the door of acceptance. PAUSE… So settle your body tonight, And feel your mind release. It’s time to be here in this moment, Letting go of the thoughts that are keeping you trapped in the suffering. So slow down, And listen. Focusing your attention onto the soft noises of the night. The sweet sounds of your breathing. The soft chirping of the crickets. The familiar noises of your room. The comforting music here, The soothing tones of my voice. Let it all bring you here, Into the present. And one with what is. PAUSE… Place your hand on the door, The one inviting you into the calmness of the night just as you are, Just as life is, Right now. Surrender to it, The life force inside of you telling you everything is going to be okay, Reminding you that are you resilient, That you are made of love and strength and wild magic beyond your comprehension. And that even in the unknown, Even in the discomfort, Even when life is unsettled, You will thrive. PAUSE... Reprieve cannot come from outside answers tonight. It comes from within. And somewhere deep inside of you, You just know that the entire universe could be crumbling underneath you, That everything could be coming undone, And you would be okay. Let this wisdom spread throughout your body, And relax you deeper into your bed, As you slowly walk yourself through the door of acceptance. PAUSE… Feel the expectations dissolve, And let your fears collapse. They cannot survive on this side of the door. Instead, waves of peace fill you up, As you bring yourself into presence, Deep presence, With what is. PAUSE… There is no need to look for answers, my love, They will come to you when you’re ready, Always when you’re ready. So just be here, One with the night, Standing in the valley of peace, And feeling the soothing wind brush your face. Breathe… And relax. Breathe… And release. PAUSE… Your spirit is such a precious part of you. It guides your inner journey. If outer messages obscure its voice, The wisdom grows distant and blurry. PAUSE… But if you craft yourself a suit of armor, A mental threshold to block out excess, You’re protecting yourself, mind, body, and soul, And preventing so much future distress. PAUSE… You’ve worked hard to learn all you know, You’ve labored to develop new awareness. You have a right to keep that understanding intact, To shield it from hostility and menace. Breathe as deep as you can, feel the power of your wellbeing. Release that breath and hold its power close, focus on your healing. LONG PAUSE… When it comes to looking after your peace, You’re the only one standing at the gate. It’s up to you to draw the lines, Then keep those boundaries certain and straight. PAUSE… Once you put that armor on, The message to yourself is clear. Harmony and wisdom are your priorities, Nothing that weakens them must come near. PAUSE… Your time with self is precious, Your progress requires your support. Commit to safeguarding your deepest truths, Hiding them away from external assault. PAUSE… While the world does not intend you harm, Its influence can be overwhelming. When you have your armor in place, You can filter out what’s not helping. Let that breath move through you like a peaceful song. LONG PAUSE And through your body, This relaxing song plays, Bringing you to a place where healing awaits. LONG PAUSE So, stay with song, And your breathing as well, Until you’re open and relaxed, And your body just melts. LONG PAUSE Now, visualize, if you can, A diamond shimmering at your feet. It’s radiating warmth and healing, And you welcome the regenerative treat. PAUSE After a minute, The diamond moves to the ankles, Where it alleviates all stress, And then in a gentle motion Lets the muscles rest. PAUSE Now, your feet and ankles, Feel deeply relaxed. Your foundation for standing is healing to the max. PAUSE The diamond journeys farther, Up to your calves, Where it loosens that tension, As it moves on its path. PAUSE Now, the diamond shines in the center of your knees, Taking away pain and creaking, So they move with ease. PAUSE And slowly the diamond moves, To the hamstrings from the calves, Weaving in calm and cooling inflammation, Like a healing salve. PAUSE Next, the diamond shines Right on top of your thighs, Giving them strength and energy, With the relief it supplies. PAUSE Now take a minute and feel, How your lower body is healing. It’s more peaceful and calm, And positively affecting your whole being. PAUSE The diamond’s energy, Circles around your hips, Melting away pain and pressure, Then continues on its trip. PAUSE Pivoting through the abdomen, The diamond radiates its therapy, Restoring balance and creativity, And bringing greater healing clarity. PAUSE To your center, your core, The diamond lights up who you are, Healing self image and self worth, Changing your thinking to you’re a star. PAUSE You pause for a moment, While breathing in the rejuvenation, The diamond works its healing magic, On your body’s situation. PAUSE To the chest the diamond circulates, Easing tension and opening the heart, Healing grief and hurts, And bestowing you with a new start. PAUSE The diamond parks atop your neck and shoulders, Sending heat into them, So they release and relax, And no longer feel like boulders. PAUSE Rising to the throat, The diamond settles in deep, Healing your ability to speak your truth, With peace and ease. PAUSE Now, your forehead and cheeks, Experience the diamond’s warmth heal, Opening your third eye to dreams, And relaxing you more still. PAUSE Now, the diamond moves To the top of the head, Shining your light divinely, As you continue to rest. And your whole body is the diamond, Filled with healing light, Keep it and share it, In the day and at night.
