We first came across Natalie and her story when she sat down with Byrdie.com.au in 2018 for a piece titled “I’m 24 and Living With Advanced Melanoma—This Is My Story”. Natalie’s words and insights in that interview were what informed our very last segment of Shameless in 2018, and what pushed us to change our own relationship with sun tanning forever. We had Nat as a guest at our Sydney live show in November, and are so lucky to now call her a friend. Nat is now battling stage four melanoma after the cancer spread to her small intestine and bowel. Given today marks a new year and a new decade, we thought now is the time to help Nat champion her message again. So, Team Shameless has enlisted the help of some of Australia's most influential and recognisable women to make a pledge toward sun safety in 2020. In this interview, we talk about that grief, but also the love that Leo brought to both of their lives. We also talk about what it was like to fall pregnant again with their little boy, Sonny, and the mechanics of keeping that entire pregnancy secret from the outside world. Happy, happy, happy Thursday you wonderful people! Em is known as the girl who fell from the sky: at just 20 years old, when skydiving in Switzerland, her parachute failed to open properly. She plummeted from the sky, landing on the ground completely paralysed from the waist down. She spent months in hospital re-learning how to move her body again. Today, Emma is a walking paraplegic. As she documented her recovery and her re-birth (as she now calls it) Emma built a hugely loyal following thanks to her sunny and warm and thoughtful posts.
