If Sophie’s name sounds familiar, you were probably first introduced to her story more than 16 years ago, when a car crashed into Sophie’s daycare centre and trapped Sophie underneath. In that incident, she suffered burns to more than 85% of her body, lost both of her feet, a number of fingers, and an ear. A few years later, Sophie’s life was threatened again by a serious car accident, where, after being thrown from her wheelchair, she obtained an acquired brain injury. In the face of so much adversity, Sophie Delezio is a sunshine-y force to be reckoned with. Now, on the cusp of her twenties, Sophie is a fighter who didn’t just survive, but thrived despite everything that life threw at her.
