The Black History Month Pattern Designer Challenge (#BHMPatternDesigners) was established in February 2019 by Nateida of SewNaturalDane. Nateida decided to created this challenge due to the lack of representation she saw in the sewing community that highlighted Black Pattern Designers, as well as black owned fabric companies and knitting designers. February is Black History Month in the United States and it's also Nateida's birthday month! Rule 1: must tag both Nateida (SewNaturalDane) and Keira (IslandSewcialist) on Instagram and you must use the hashtag #BHMPatternDesigners in order for your entry to be counted. Ep 180World Frocktails 2021

World Frocktails is a week of online event filled with sewing community inspiration ranging including panel talks, sewalongs, cocktail and mocktail sessions with community leaders from 8-13 February 2021. You can get involved in the live sessions, watch each recording and refer to each blog post from each special guest. The schedule is now available but don't be surprised as it continues to grow with people from the sewing community. Ep 166Jo from Haptic and Hue

Jo Andrews started the Haptic and Hue website to think about the hidden hands behind textiles and the way in which they are a detective story you can hold. Jo felt useless at sewing at school, totally useless. She became a radio reporter and then TV News reporter for BBC and ITN, and covered so many war torn places and lots of politics. Jo then went to New Zealand and learnt to weave at night school. She absolutely loved it. While Jo was in New Zealand she also worked as journalist all over the Pacific.
