It could be your own medical journey or having to help a loved one through theirs–regardless, it’s not easy to navigate. But what if I told you that shifting your mindset and practicing self-love can actually aid your physical wellness? Today, we are speaking with Dana Croschere and Krisanna Sexton, the masterminds behind the film “Love Heals.” After supporting one another through chronic illness within their relationship, they are now on a mission to spread love, health, and healing. Dana and Krisanna took 18 people to a retreat center in Sedona, AZ to work on healing in nontraditional ways, and they have used the film to share with the world their stories and the power of using the mind-body connection to heal yourself. THIS EPISODE’S SYLLABUS STEPS: Here are some of Dana and Krisanna's tips on healing yourself through self-love: - Check in with yourself. Ask yourself, what do I need? - Find time to be quiet with yourself and engage in some kind of meditation daily. - Start to trust your intuition. - Obtain “heart-brain coherence” by connecting your brain and your heart. Like guest speaker, Shelyna Brown, says: just like a judge in a courtroom, you have the power to preside over your own life. Shelyna is a visionary leader and advocate for justice. With a two-decade career as a public defender and respected Superior Court judge in Santa Clara, she has since founded the Equality and Social Justice Committee to mentor the next generation of young leaders at San Jose State University. Finding a flow state–whether it’s driving through green lights, hitting a big milestone in your career, finally being aligned in a romantic relationship, or just feeling like the universe is on your side–is an undeniably amazing feeling. But it’s not always easy to find this ideal flow state. Today we’re chatting with Jason Crouse, also known as @saintsofflow on Instagram. As a “flow coach,” he empowers individuals and organizations to optimize their performance and achieve their personal and professional goals. Maybe it's a small loss like your partner starts acting differently, you have to find a new roommate, or you're switching teams at your job. Maybe it's a little bigger-- you lost your job, you just graduated college and have to move home, you went through a friend breakup, your situationship ghosted you. Whatever it may be, anytime change occurs and something is lost, it's a death. And it's NORMAL to feel grief. It's NORMAL for things not to be okay sometimes. Today, we are going to unpack what it means to process grief in a streamlined way with expert and author on the subject, Dr. Karen Kramer. Dr. Kramer is going to offer clear steps on how to navigate your grief amidst our society's climate of toxic positivity. We'll discuss the importance of normalizing these feelings in our 20s and how to have honest, raw, and real conversations with other 20somethings in your life. THIS EPISODE’S SYLLABUS STEPS: Practice listening and creating spaces for those in your life. Encourage conversations to be vulnerable by using the phrase, “tell me more,” if someone says they’re not having the best day. Today we are lucky to have holistic health coach Meghan Swidler, AKA “That Wellness Gal,” share her tips on how to heal some of the most important areas of your body: the gut, skin, and hormones. Meghan is a bestselling author who wrote From Within, and as an expert in cleansing and detoxification, she guides individuals to live their healthiest lifestyles from the inside out. In this episode, she’ll provide some incredible insights, resources, and realistic steps that we can all take to better care for our bodies NOW, preventing issues in the future. With over 8 years of group fitness and trainer experience, Remy has held roles for industry-leading brands like Tone It Up, Therabody, Equinox, and Parsley Health. Remy is currently a Vuori Clothing Collaborator, Barry’s Trainer, Bodyrok Instructor, Personal Trainer, fitness and wellness influencer, and the founder of her new fitness App, KORE by Remy. Remy gets raw with us about her personal experience with body image and love as a fitness trainer & influencer who is in this world 24/7. This episode is a reminder that even the “perfect” influencers you see on social media share a very similar experience with us all. You'll leave this episode knowing that your worth does not come from what you eat in a day, how much you work out, or what you look like, but WHO YOU ARE. YOU ARE NOT YOUR BODY: Your value and who you are come from within! Recognize the difference you make in others’ lives. Look to your friends - ask them what their favorite thing about you is. I promise you it won't be because of the way you look. Create affirmations that remind you of your worth (i.e. I am thankful for my body’s strength, I listen to my body, I give my body what it needs, my body is a miracle) WRITE A THANK YOU LETTER TO YOUR BODY: This might feel weird, but I promise it helps. Start by envisioning each part of your body and ask yourself, “what does this body part do for me?” Creating a physical copy of how your body cares for you (whether you care for it or not) can feel empowering and grounding.
