Recruiting Headlines from Yello, Gr8 People, Trusted health, Nexza and ISABLED
Yello, a leading talent acquisition software provider, today debuted the findings from its fourth annual Yello Recruiting Study at STRIVE 2019, the company’s talent acquisition conference. According to the Pew Research Center, the oldest members of Generation Z are turning 22-years-old this year and many will be entering the workforce as they prepare to graduate college. Top themes and findings from The 2019 Yello Recruiting Study include: Gen Z is confident in the current job market and their job prospects post-graduation. Likely thanks to today’s tight labor market, about two-thirds of Gen Z students are confident they’ll receive a job offer – and 35% expect to receive more than one offer. Similarly, members of Gen Z are clearly setting themselves up to succeed in the candidate-driven environment by starting the job search early. Gen Z still values face-to-face communication ... Fifty-one percent of Gen Z respondents said they prefer to communicate in-person, while a quarter said they prefer to communicate digitally. Unlike millennials, Gen Z says working with recruiters that are “trusted advisors” is crucial. Recruiters should know that their approach can have a significant impact on Gen Z’s decision to accept a job – 44% of this group said the recruiter they spoke with has the biggest impact on their decision to accept a job while only 29% of millennials agreed. Recruiters should also be sure to treat Gen Z fairly during the hiring process as three-quarters of this group cite being treated unfairly as the top cause of a negative experience while only half of millennials said the same. Employers shouldn’t forget about HR tech to create a seamless, quick experience for Gen Z and other generations. Though Gen Z places emphasis on in-person communication, they still expect their employers to use technology – especially when it comes to making the application mobile-friendly. 26% of Gen Z candidates say that a lack of technology throughout the hiring process would prevent them from accepting a job with the company. This is notable considering only 15% of employed millennials and 13% of Gen X candidates cited this sentiment. https://recruitingheadlines.com/yello-gen-z-recruiting-study/ PHILADELPHIA – MAY 02, 2019 ISABLED, an online recruiting platform connects workers that identify as having a disability, with recruiters from leading companies who value inclusion and diversity in their workforce. The ISABLED platform allows job seekers and recruiters to connect and chat in real-time, from anywhere, and from the comfort and convenience of their home or office. ” The ISABLED Virtual Career Fairs are a fun and easy way to connect recruiters and job seekers with disabilities. Instead of asking both sides to attend a job fair at a physical location, we bring the career fair to them. The ISABLED platform allows our employer partners to recruit nationwide in just a few hours, and job seekers have instant access to the very recruiters who are seeking to fill the open positions” Stated Kevin O’Brien, Managing Partner, ISABLED. The ISABLED website will include content to connect workers with disabilities to job opportunities from a wide range of companies and industries. The website will include a job board and a virtual career fair platform. ISABLED will host 4 virtual career fairs each year, and companies can host standalone virtual career fairs for their company as often as they like. The first ISABLED.com virtual career fair is set for July 25, 2019, and open now for registration. https://recruitingheadlines.com/online-recruitment-platform-to-connect-workers-with-disabilities-to-employers/ Skill Based Recruiting Platform Gets Seed Round The startup has closed on $650K in pre-seed funding led by Atlanta-area investor Jon Hallett, a previous backer of Nexza’s co-founder, Rob Patten. Nexza is entirely free for both employers and candidates to create and host their profile. The employer simply enters their description and company-wide benefits. Then, each individual team — software development, QA, product managers, etc. — can create their own profile specifying their tech stack, individual details and more. On the candidate side, the individual inputs education, citizenship status, tech and non-tech skills, LinkedIn, Github or personal website. They also clarify what they might be looking for: preferred geography (or remote work), whether they’d like to work from home at all, their ideal company size and role. Recruiting Headlines from Facebook, StafQuik, SparcStart, Namely, Google
Since its launch more than a year ago the Facebook job board has been missing jobs from one key segment: corporate employers. They simply did not have an easy way to share their jobs to the Facebook audience other than their own business page. But good news has arrived... Facebook will be partnering with ATS vendors to include their clients jobs into the Facebook job board automatically. This move will certainly add a huge number of credible, professional listings to the social network alongside the thousands of small business jobs already being posted. I was able to reach Facebook for comment and uncovered some additional details about which vendors have signed on so far. We currently work with a number of partners including SAP SuccessFactors, Workable, JazzHR, and Talentify. We’re looking to grow these partnerships as we know many businesses are already working with HR solution providers to manage their hiring needs and we want to make it easier for businesses to tap onto the tools they already use, and help more people find jobs. We have a Jobs XML Feed, which enables partners to publis job posts on behalf of employers directly on Facebook. Job seekers are redirected to the employer’s career site, and can apply to the role on the employer’s career site. Employers can also create jobs in their Applicant Tracking System, and automatically publish that job to Facebook. https://recruitingheadlines.com/facebook-job-board-opens-up-to-employers-through-ats-partnerships/ BALTIMORE – StafQuik, a contingent staffing technology company, is introducing a faster, more efficient way for staffing agencies to connect their workforce to job opportunities. iHire Releases State of Online Recruiting Report Inaugural report addresses challenges and opportunities for bridging the gap between employers and qualified talent iHire announces its inaugural State of Online Recruiting report, highlighting the results of a survey of more than 1,650 U.S. employers and job seekers across more than 50 industries. As employers and job seekers struggle to find the right talent and the right careers, respectively, this report identifies the challenges and opportunities for bridging the gap between these two groups. The top survey findings detailed in iHire’s State of Online Recruiting 2019 report include: The quest for qualified talent is heating up: 53.5% of employers are not receiving applicants who meet their needs. When asked to cite their No. 1 challenge when recruiting through an online job board, website, or community, employers’ top two responses included: “I receive too many irrelevant applicants” (30.9%) and “I receive too many underqualified applicants” (22.6%). Stronger two-way communication is needed between employers and candidates: 26.4% of job seekers said their top online job search challenge was not hearing back from employers after applying and/or interviewing. However, this ghosting in the hiring process goes both ways: 5.8% of employers surveyed said “being ghosted by candidates” was their top challenge, while 4.6% cited “reaching out to applicants and not hearing back.” Job seekers and employers aren’t aligned on the importance of company culture: 62.6% of job seekers said they are more likely to apply to an ad if it includes company culture information, yet less than half of employers (46.1%) said they include this information in their ads. BlueCrew is disrupting traditional staffing – a total addressable market worth more than $130 billion in the U.S. and $400 billion globally – with a platform that instantly connects quality workers with open jobs using proprietary data and algorithms to identify the best matches in real time. BlueCrew’s platform fills over 90 percent of employer jobs, many times within minutes, compared to traditional staffing agencies that fill 60-70 percent over several weeks. Unlike gig economy apps that are heavily fueled by contractor workforces, BlueCrew’s platform exclusively features W-2 jobs. https://recruitingheadlines.com/bluecrew-will-expand-to-30-markets-by-end-of-2019/ CLEVELAND, March 27, 2019 — EmployStream, the leading provider for onboarding automation to the staffing industry, today announced it has closed a $3.5 million Series A funding round led by JumpStart Inc., with support from several key investors including Ohio Innovation Fund, North Coast Angel Fund and Rev1 Ventures. The funding will accelerate the company’s growth in the staffing industry, with a plan to expand to other industries with high-volume hiring needs and high turnover challenges. “This round of investment allows us to add the resources and capabilities we need to meet the rapidly growing demand from the customers and markets we currently serve, as well as bring our offerings to other market segments with similar needs,” said Gerald Hetrick, Chief Executive Officer of EmployStream. “The continued support of the local community, as well as the addition of the Ohio Innovation Fund, are all great accelerators that will set EmployStream on a path to success for the foreseeable future.” https://recruitingheadlines.com/onboarding-automation-tool-lands-3-5-million-in-funding/ Capterra, the leading online resource for business software buyers, released findings from its latest survey of small and mid-size business leaders across vertical markets to understand how SMBs are choosing talent management solutions and their implications on businesses. Capterra’s Talent Management Industry User Research Report revealed that price heavily impacts talent management solution decisions, surpassing ease of use as a key factor across SMBs. This focus on price creates a disconnect for small business leaders trying to choose the “right” software for their organization, as they’re using low price as the main driver when buying software. “Understanding how buyers successfully leverage talent manageme

If you havent it is a story of how some rich kid form Mew york ity duped investors into giving him millions of dollars to throw a very exclusive, very expensive music festival for other rich kids. Only problem was he didnt know how to actually plan and run an event of this nature...its on Netflix and i highly recommend seeing it, Anyway here was Tim tweet that imagined a Fyre HR fest… Tim Sackett SCP,SPHR @TimSackett Hey Peeps! And back by popular demand - The Monster Trumpasaurus stuffed animals! Laugh, got to love the wittiness of tim sackett...follow him on @timsackett if you dont yet… So lets talk about rejection. Recruiters hate sending rejection emails and candidates hate getting them. It’s no wonder then that most companies don’t pay much attention to this important recruiting chore. But with a little thought and effort your company can easily improve the rejection process in order to change that dynamic. By implementing a more refined workflow you can actually help turn those you can’t hire into allies while letting them down gently. The last thing you’ll want is for them to head to Glassdoor and leave a rant after you say No. Those candidates could actually become a candidate in the future and/or a customer, therefore how you reject them matters if you want to keep them coming back. So here’s my five rules to add value to the dreaded rejection email process. Ignore them at your peril. 1 Time It Right 2 Be Honest, But Not Too Honest 3 Have Multiple Email Templates 4 Add Value to the Rejection try Rejobify's free email templates: https://www.rejobify.com/ 5 Get Their Feedback Learn more about your ad choices. Recruiting Thoughts for 2019
This episode of RecTech is sponsored by WorkHere.com and Emissary.ai - please support our sponsors. Welcome to the first episode of RecTech for 2019, todays show is just a solo episode to kick off the year and get you ready for what lies ahead. It is the first monday in january and so I am proud to announce that the 2019 recruiting season is officially open for business! For many of you 2018 was a daunting year to recruit and this year is shaping up to be just as challenging. So i will give you some thoughts on how to handle the new recruiting season and also how me and my RecTech Media team can help. Show notes: In the coming weeks you’ll hear interviews with Aley Brown from outplacement firm CareerMinds on SEO for HR as well as an interview with The Mom Project, a job site for moms returning to the workforce. One thing I want listeners to know is that when it comes to sponsors I only seek to promote companies that I know and trust. When i look at a sponsor i only take on ones that are useful to my audience and also have a track record of success and people that I know. That’s important to me to have trusted vetted HR tech companies---I would never promote something just because they paid me ...my reputation is important. Alright, as you start your recruiting plans this year here are some things to keep in mind; Candidate experience...speed of apply...speed on interviewing...automation....communications even rejection process are all important. From the Recruitee blog...“I just wish more companies would make the experience less painful for candidates. I am sure there will be software that comes out to do that. But the more companies can be real and human and upfront the better. I hear from friends searching that companies still interview them 5 times, lead them on and then send a templated email rejecting them. Brand is everything these days. The minute your company gets a bad rep the best talent leaves. Facebook is going through this right now. These bad experiences while talented leaders are trying to join leaves a bad taste, and talented people hang out with other really talented people. Word of mouth travels [quickly], and soon you’ve turned an entire community sour to your opportunities. Next thing you know the best in the industry [are] joining your competitor and helping them scale. Just be real and honest and human as much as possible. You can’t hire everyone but work on scaling the unscalable as much as possible.” – Kameron Kales Recruitment marketing...fb and google, geofencing, billboards, open houses….“I believe video will become an even more important component of recruitment marketing. Telling your company’s story through your employees is incredibly powerful and can be very compelling. Video content must be a part of your strategy in 2019”----see JobStories.com Your messaging and content...EVP, job descriptions... Talent to manage it all...HRIT----“There has never been more technology than today. So 2019 will be another year of struggle for HR departments especially when it comes to implementing HR technology to recruit or engage. The smart companies would be wise to hire more technologists to help implement new software. The profession now requires a digitally savvy worker, so be prepared for what’s to come.” HR technology continues at a frenetic pace...expect to see a lot of mergers, acquisitions…and some companies going into the deadpool too. Things I’m looking forward to: Facebook job board changes, Uber staffing, more gig economy news, will indeed get back to innovating or just acquiring? Less hr tech, So how can RecTech Media help you with all this? As we enter our fourth year of operations I want to first tell you about all the no cost ways you can leverage our tools and information...the following are all free ways that we can make you and your team better at recruiting. Making HR More Strategic
The RecTech podcast is sponsored by Workhere.com and Emissary.ai According to research conducted by Accenture earlier in the year, enterprises are primed to shift HR out from the back office to deliver strategic value to their businesses. The problem is making that shift. HR departments lack the necessary AI tools, analytics, and digital skills to do “strategic HR.” Here to talk about addressing this challenge and how to overcome it. Jill K. Goldstein, Talent & HR Business Process Service Lead at Accenture Allan Racey, Global Talent and HR Capability Lead Jill and Allan, Welcome to RecTech…. What is Accenture Operations and what do you offer HR professionals? Let’s get into the report….”Although gaps remain between the expectations of the business and HR’s contribution, HR is clearly on a transformation journey. It is shifting focus from enabling back-office efficiency and effectiveness to becoming a strategic business partner.” Define what you mean by strategic? How is this now different from what HR did before? Why is HR perceived as slow to change with the times? How will strategic HR impact recruitment? Should they recruit or reskill existing talent? What data-related skills do HR professionals need? How do you see AI and analytics benefiting HR? What HR responsibilities and processes should be automated? What tips do you recommend for implementing strategic HR? Which is the biggest enabler of strategic HR – talent or technology? any other interesting reports coming out?
