S4E93 Justice For All with Elizabeth Mikotowicz

Elizabeth’s first experience with abuse was at the age of 15 when she was with a 21-year-old. The abuse continued when they got back together at 18 and had a daughter together. The daughter's father was even more dangerous and left her partially disabled after an assault. He would torture her in the bathroom for hours, leading her to become addicted to the pain medication prescribed by doctors. He even choked her to the point where her windpipe would collapse, causing her to have difficulty breathing for a year after he left. She sought help from a battered women's shelter, but they turned her away despite having two beds available after the police warned that her situation could put other women in danger. The bed was given to another woman who was not even physically abused but had her car kicked by a man. She then turned to drug dealers for protection and encountered dangerous sociopathic predatory men. Eventually, she ended up in prison. She witnessed and experienced violence against women. Shockingly, 70% of women in prison have experienced some form of domestic violence or sexual assault before even going to prison. This is the reality for many women in America after being failed by society, as the country has the highest rate of incarceration in the world, and the number of incarcerated women is constantly growing. Despite all of this, she managed to find a way to heal and rebuild herself from scratch. She painted murals in prison and started an environmentally friendly clothing brand that features her artwork in plus sizes. Elizabeth Mikotowicz’s mission is to make women feel stunning and empowered, so much so that they could face any challenge and come out victorious. Her brand represents her journey of self-healing, as she inspires other women who have been through similar struggles to prevail over abuse.Connect with Elizabeth Mikotowiczemail address: [email protected]: https://www.instagram.com/EPM_art_1111/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@epm_art_1111Twitter: https://twitter.com/EPM_art_1111clothing website: https://www.legaleriste.com/en/elizabeth.mikotowicz Get full access to Gemma’s Gem blog & Real Talk Real Women podcast at gemmasgem.substack.com/subscribe Get full access to Gemma’s Gem at gemmasgem.substack.com/subscribe

S4E89 From Online Dating Failure To Tantra Goddess With Jaylala

Jaylala’s storyAs a young girl, I always seemed to get unwanted attention from men, usually much older than myself. Over the years I married and divorced, with another 8-year relationship happening after that. When I decided to get back into the dating scene, it was the time that online dating was just beginning. I was impressed, wow! I thought of so many wonderful men to meet. HaHa. Little did I know the dating world had changed a great deal since my divorce. Online dating turned into a cesspool of shallow, ego-driven, manipulative men that were only interested in one-sided superficial encounters. Instead of getting to know me, the conversation would immediately turn to misogynistic, disparaging sexual remarks about my appearance or their expectations for a date. I am no prude, but a lack of respect and boundaries had me running for the hills. I knew that it was not for me and immediately shut down my accounts. I knew there had to be something better. Have any of you had the same encounters? Many women I know suffer the same experiences. That's when I learned about Tantra. As I dove more into this approach, I realized that sex was not just a physical act, but an emotional, spiritual, and sacred practice. I found there were men that were not closed off to their hearts and souls, respected women, and understood the importance of boundaries and consent. I now have an overall understanding that sex is something that is sacred and I have shut down my online accounts for good. I now practice Tantra as a way of life and teach others the same. Jaylala- Tantra Coach and Sacred Intimacy EducatorSupporting men, women and couples unlocks the magic potential of their own sacred sexuality* Specializing in Spiritual growth, Self-love, Relationship development, Sacred Intimate connections, Sexual trauma, Sex, and Porn Addictions* Guidance for MEN negotiating the sometimes difficult dating and relationship paradigm, assistance with ED, premature ejaculation, healing of trauma, specializing in sexual and porn addictions.* Empowerment for WOMEN with direction to unlock the sensuality of their own bodies and arousal centers, help to heal sexual trauma, and effectively communicate around sex, boundaries, and consent.* Belly Dance instructor for 30+ years guiding women to love their bodies no matter age or size through dance and sensual movement.Connect with JaylalaJaylala is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canadaphone number: +1 (289) 812-2338Hub: https://bio.link/jaylalaWebsite: http://www.torontotantra.ca/jaylala.htmlInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/consciousvibrationshealing/LinkedIn : https://www.linkedin.com/in/jaylala-lee-05527732/Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/heartandsoultantraFacebook profile: https://www.facebook.com/janice.lee.9619Twitter: https://twitter.com/Conscious_vibeEmail: [email protected]: https://www.youtube.com/@jaylala6338 Get full access to Gemma’s Gem blog & Real Talk Real Women podcast at gemmasgem.substack.com/subscribe Get full access to Gemma’s Gem at gemmasgem.substack.com/subscribe

3 fundamental pieces of advice to harmonize the masculine and feminine energies with SPECIAL GUEST Domina Eventúal

3 ways to Harmonize Masculine and Feminine Energies with Special Guest Domina Rose You may refer to me as Domina Rose (Doh-mi-nuh Roh-z), and I categorize myself as a High-Performance Sensual Selling Coach.I thrive in being a lone she-wolf. Independent, driven, ambitious, and a feminine leader. As a Sigma female, I see myself as equal to my colleagues and raise the collective alongside them. ----more---- My mission is to help womxn find their sensuality through their fearless power. Alchemizing outdated indoctrinations into forward-thinking seductive power and owning their rebellious nature to gain independence from the corporate culture and acquire skills to become confident and achieve their goals. ----more---- Co-author of the RISING AFTER ABUSE anthology, Domina's story is found in chapter #16Buy the anthology in Kindle, Paperback, or Hardcover formats directly on Amazon: https://a.co/d/8xvNs7H ----more---- For years I spent my life as a disempowered womxn living life in fear. Being brought up by a man, I learned to suppress my emotions and developed a loss of control over my emotions, and thus, my life because of it. Until I developed maturity within my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual did I begin to achieve my goals with ease and speed. Never realized until I achieved success that my salvation would be finding and embracing the darkness within. ----more---- Ultimately, I found meaning to what being a womxn with ambition means in this day and age. I know it’s long overdue for womxn to rise together and say goodbye to the outdated indoctrinations of our foremothers and fathers, claim our power as the fearless femme's of our lives, and begin building a life we fantasize about. I believe in guiding you back toward your inner knowing while up-leveling your potential within every step of the journey we walk towards together. In my realm, you get to live abundantly, live life in love, with passion, pleasure, and satisfaction. Domina Rose (formerly known as Domina Eventual) short storyDomina had a long line of physical and emotional abuse from childhood which led her into toxic and verbally abusive relationships. The final straw that broke the camel's back was being in a 5-year relationship with a narcissist. He tore her identity apart and helped her realize her worth. In the process, she found her power as a woman and attracted a man who was the healthiest partner she had been with. They both have become entrepreneurs and are helping each other build their empires through their emotional and mindset support each step of the way. With over 18 years of education in developmental human psychology, Domina has been working with many clients over the years to help them overcome depression and anxiety, regulate their emotions, and become great influencers in their world. After graduating from HCI with her relationship, career, life, and health coaching certifications, she has also studied several different modalities from dominatrix training/power dynamics, and energetics, among others. Now, she works with career-driven Sigma women to help them alchemize their pain, struggles, and challenges into pleasure and power to not only heal themselves but heal their male counterparts to ultimately heal the collective consciousness. The women who come into her realm are women who want more for their lives but are unsure of what steps to take to reclaim their power and femininity as a woman, making them question and doubt themselves. After working with Domina, they stand tall in their power, reclaim their womanly power, and reach higher levels of success they never could imagine were possible for them.Connect with DominaGet her rituals freebie: https://view.flodesk.com/pages/6232a3a64e5181d777e4799fOn her Facebook profile: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61560760376691 Connect with Gemma Serenity Gorokhoff, the host of Real Talk Real Women Breaking the Silence Around Abuse https://gemmaserenity.com Do you care about getting featured on this podcast?Apply here: https://apply.realtalk-realwomen.com Support the podcast and its mission; become a sponsor or a supporter.Learn more here: https://sponsors.realtalk-realwomen.com Source webpage with picture, format, and more links:https://www.realtalk-realwomen.com/e/3tips-harmonize-masculine-feminine-domina-rose-eventual/ Get full access to Gemma’s Gem at gemmasgem.substack.com/subscribe

S4E84 Thoughts Become Things with Sandy Johnston

Summary of this episodeSandy shares her story of being in an abusive relationship for many years and how she eventually left it. She speaks about how it's easy to become a victim of circumstances and how she was walking on eggshells in her relationship.Sandy also mentioned the importance of putting on your own oxygen mask first before helping others. She also mentioned the importance of being intentional and aware of the flow of life to go with the flow.Sandy mentions red flags and how, when you enter a new relationship, it's easy to put on rose-colored glasses, making everything look okay even when it's not.The kind of abuse that Sandy experienced included being stalked by her ex-partner, and jealousy. After dismissing many of the red flags in her relationship, it took her about 10 attempts to successfully leave her abusive relationship. Her shift from victim to victory occurred when her ex-partner attempted to blow up her house with her and the kids in it, for real. She fled with her children, changing their names and cutting off all contact with family and friends.Thankfully, her dangerous ex-partner is under an indefinite intervention order and served two terms in jail. Sandy learned the hard way to put safety first.ManifestationSandy believes in the power of manifestation and shared a recent story of how she was gifted front-row tickets to a concert! Manifestation works best when you are curious and ask “what if” instead of coming from a place of desperation and need.Sandy recommends writing down a list of what you don’t want in order to uncover what you do want. Trusting yourself again is a journey and Sandy encourages rediscovering your own worth. We all come into the world with the same worth and should value ourselves.Developing a relationship with ourselves is important and can help us tremendously through adversities in life.We are not guaranteed what lies ahead, but valuing ourselves can help us be our best selves and give all we can to help others. — Sandy JohnstonSandy’s short bioSandy Johnston is a survivor of domestic abuse that became life-threatening for herself and her children. She is the founder of The Key to Be Free Transformation Services and the host of the Tiaras Tears and Triumphs podcast. She supports women struggling with the pain, damage, and complexities caused by abusive relationships with a variety of services that enable them to recover, renew and rebuild on the other side so that they can feel whole, secure, and confident with or without a partner. Listen in as Carolyn opens up about her loving upbringing, the mental health challenges her family faced, and how these experiences led her down a path of seeking escape, ultimately landing her in two different toxic relationships. Carolyn reveals how her own mental health crisis and the discovery of personal development and growth mindset played a pivotal role in her healing process. Join us for this inspiring conversation as Carolyn shares her story of overcoming adversity and how she's now using her experiences to help others find hope and healing. Make sure to purchase and read her memoir named "From a Place Called Shame," available everywhere books are sold, as she turns her past trials and taboos into talking points for the present, offering hope for the future. Carolyn's short bioCarolyn Parker, also known as The Overcoming Queen, is a survivor of domestic abuse who is now a heart-led author, personal development advocate, and founder of Restoring Self-Belief. Her journey began in 2002 when she fell into a toxic relationship with a younger man during a mental health crisis. Unaware of the signs of domestic abuse, Carolyn did not recognize the progressive coercive control she was experiencing until it escalated to a life-threatening point. After several attempts to leave, she finally ended the relationship in 2005. In 2006, Carolyn met her second abuser. Though the pattern of abuse was different, there was still an undercurrent of control. It wasn't until 2013 that she realized things were not going to improve and instructed him to leave. Despite her challenges, Carolyn qualified as a chartered physiotherapist in 1980 and worked in several NHS hospitals before and between having her two daughters. After suffering a nervous breakdown, she established a private care support business as a sole trader in 2011, which she still runs today.Carolyn's life changed in 2019 when she discovered the power of personal development and a growth mindset. She founded Restoring Self Belief to share these tools and strategies with a broader audience through social media and personal coaching. When COVID-19 lockdowns began in 2020, Carolyn took the opportunity to write a chapter in a collaborative book and record a podcast episode about her journey, leading her to discover a hidden talent for heart-led writing. She has since contributed to other books, including Beautifully Broken, which launched in October 2022.Carolyn's debut memoir, From a Place Called Shame, was released in November 2022.Through her work, Carolyn's mission is to turn the trials and taboos of her past into talking points that give others hope for the future. She aims to write and speak about these often-avoided topics to increase awareness, understanding, and acceptance of those who often suffer in silence. With her personal coaching and heart-led writing, Carolyn inspires others to overcome their own challenges and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.Connect with CarolynGet yourself some swag and other merchandise designed by Carolyn Parker https://www.redbubble.com/people/selfbelief/shop?asc=uSupport the artist by getting more merchandise with flower art https://www.redbubble.com/people/freedom-arts/shop?asc=u Connect with Carolyn on her Facebook profile: https://www.facebook.com/carolyn.parker.161and on her Facebook fan page: https://www.facebook.com/carolynjaneparkerInstagram gallery: https://www.instagram.com/restoringselfbeliefTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@carolynparker_books4u Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/CarolynPAuthor Stay up to date with her LinkTree: https://linktr.ee/RestoringSelfBelief Buy Carolyn Parker's books published on Amazonhttps://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B0BSVMQMBH/about Connect with Gemma Serenity Gorokhoff, the host of Real Talk Real Women Breaking the Silence Around Abuse https://gemmaserenity.com Do you care about getting featured on this podcast?Apply here: https://apply.realtalk-realwomen.com Support the podcast and its mission; become a sponsor or a supporter.Learn more here: https://sponsors.realtalk-realwomen.comSource webpage with picture, format, and more links:https://www.realtalk-realwomen.com/e/freeing-yourself-from-abuse-carolyn-parker/ Get full access to Gemma’s Gem at gemmasgem.substack.com/subscribe

S3E73 Emigrating to Canada to flee Domestic Violence and Start Over with Coach Cathy O.

My name is Catherine Opondo - Coach Cathy O, and l facilitate healing circles that help women release trauma so they can go on to co-create lives that they are excited about living. I am a mum of five and a grandma of 2. I emigrated to Canada some four years ago, a move I made to save my life and seek peace. How did l get here? You see, I was previously married for three decades - one that was the “best” or so I thought. Without the gory details, the marriage broke down and turned abusive in all aspects. It quickly became obvious that I had to fight for my life and flee. After weighing my options, I saw that leaving the dangerous situation behind would be my best option.I made my plans and left with my youngest children. I arrived in a foreign land, settled, and carried on with my life. I thought that l would be “safe.” I mean, l had left the dangerous situation behind, right? How wrong I was. I quickly realized that l was getting anxious and experiencing panic attacks with the same intensity, if not worse, as when l was in the “abusive situation.” Slowly, l started looking over my shoulder wondering if l was being followed, as had happened in the past. And it got worse from there.I realized that l had to do something about this as it was getting out of hand and slowly consuming my mind. There were days that l did not find value in getting out of bed. There were days when l did not have the strength to be a mom, and it was getting crazy. Anyone who saw me would have thought, “she has got it all together.” I must say that I masked it well.l had to do something about this. If I wanted to live and continue with my life. I was tired of acting like everything was ok. It was consuming me.So, l found the courage to work through the trauma and to heal it. My thinking at the time was “why did l have to do the hard work when “it was not my fault?”. The reality was that l had to do the hard work to move my life forward. .There were days when l awoke upbeat and enthusiastic about life, and there were days that l wasn’t looking forward to the day at all.I had to calm the chatter in my head, and squash the labels that had been assigned to me and l had “graciously” accepted. It started with a desire to live my best life, then it graduated to taking action while scared as hell. The more action l took, the more l wanted to do it and the more l felt at ease. Some days were easy, some were not. But l was determined. I sought the help l needed and did the work that was required. Was it a pretty journey - Hell NO! Was it worth it - HELL YEAH!And it paid off.I now share the healing journey with those that have walked the same path and need support to get through it. Doing it alone is scary and daunting. Walking the path with someone who has done it makes it so much easier!Life is not a dress rehearsal - live your best life. Take the action to redesign your life.“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one single step” - Lao Tzu.“Feel the Fear, but Do it Anyway” - Susan Jeffers. If you are that person feeling stuck and unable to move forward, talk to me and we can walk this journey together. You do not have to do it alone.Best of the best,Coach Cathy OConnect with Coach Cathy Owww.catherineopondo.comwww.linkedin.com/in/catherineopondowww.facebook.com/COpondo1www.instagram.com/catherine_opondo Get full access to Gemma’s Gem blog & Real Talk Real Women podcast at gemmasgem.substack.com/subscribe Get full access to Gemma’s Gem at gemmasgem.substack.com/subscribe

Don't miss this enlightening conversation and the valuable lessons Julie has to offer.Julie in her own wordsFrom the outside looking in, people would have thought, I was living the perfect life 8 years ago. I was married to my best friend and homeschooling our four amazing kids on 30 acres in upstate New York. But I had one major problem - I never felt well. Even though I tried to live as naturally as possible, I was experiencing chronic health problems.Through a battery of questions, my doctor determined that the cause of my issues could be stress, and diving further she pinned it on the toxic relationship I had with my mother... It was making me sick.My doctor’s recommendation was to work on my relationship with my mom, which I questioned if that was even possible after so many years of me trying to make it “right” but always ending in extreme emotional hurt. My doctor’s recommendation then was to sever the relationship to give me time and space for the needed healing. She also recommended that I try different medications to help my body restore the physical balance in my body, but I felt that a more natural approach was the way to go.At that time, I had a dear friend who kept talking to me about these “little bottles” of essential oils. On that day after my visit with my doctor, I reached out to her and told her, “I want those oils and the big reference guide too.” I started to use the essential oils daily, and it was a miraculous transformation...within six weeks I was feeling better.Able now to take a deep breath, I started the journey of inner work, exploring my relationship with my mother, knowing that I had to make a change in order to thrive and live well. My mother has always operated from the stance of “her way or the highway,” easily eliminating those in her life who did not see her perspective and then attacking them vehemently for their personal stance. Everything was always black and white for her. Looking back, I realized that this left no room for me when I was growing up to find my voice and spread my wings because one of my core principles was that of the peacemaker. I would bow to her desire to keep order and bottle my emotions, feelings, and desires thinking that it was not worth it for me to find myself. However, with my state of dis-ease, I recognized that it was time to stand tall with my shoulders back and speak my truth. I was determined that I would put up a strong boundary to protect my wellness and this led to me finally putting closure on the toxic and abusive relationship with my mother. I stepped forward into becoming ME!This newfound wellness gave me the opportunity to really look into the root cause of some of my chronic health issues...suppressed emotions. Feelings buried alive never die but surface as dis-ease. My desire to understand emotions, feelings and resulting actions led me to become an Aroma Freedom Technique practitioner in 2017.Sharing about health and emotional wellness became my new passion. I’ve felt so blessed on this journey. I’m supporting my family and transforming lives, all the while doing something I love. This gives me tremendous peace, purpose, and joy. S3E66 The Art of Learning Self-Love with Darla Williams

Darla in her own wordsSo, I like to call my story From the Pit to Zion... I spent my whole life in abuse of many forms. Since I was young, I was exposed to things I should have never experienced. I can tell you that I have experienced things in all areas of abuse. These include Sexual, Mental, Emotional, Physical, and Financial abuse. All of which had broken me down to a space of desperation, and I truly wanted to check out at a point.Throughout all the years I sought therapy and groups, and then even began creating my own tools and courses to assist others in discovering how to begin loving themselves, who they are, what they need, and how to live for the highest good in our lives. My dream is to assist as many people through their own transformation as possible. To assist in teaching them they are worthy of the life they desire. We are only as limited as we believe...I have had the privilege to walk with many from all around the world and know that they have said, "It is like looking through a telescope in regard to the transformation from before to after." S3E60 From Crappy To Happy with Alicia Ann Wade

From Crappy to Happy with Alicia Ann WadeApart from having her daughter, her defining moment came in 2015 when she lost everything. The six-figure salary, the husband, the house, and the car. She is simplifying but the gist is she had been living the way everyone else expected she would be growing up, and she wasn’t happy. She was a captive in the jail of her own life rather than experiencing life.Since then, she has rebuilt after losing everything and lost 30kgs. Alicia was awarded the 2020 ICG Australian life coach of the year, has written an Amazon bestseller and is finishing her first marathon in 2021.All because she realized if she included gratitude in her daily practice, everything within her life and business would fall into place. The Gratitude Method™Alicia is a life coach helping teenagers with anxiety and a business mentor using positive psychology to help entrepreneurs build their lives, businesses, and leadership skills. Currently, she is studying for her Master's in Applied Positive Psychology to assist with her passion for positive psychology and personal development to help herself as well as others. And with the success of her book Be Outstanding: Five Simple Steps to Turn Your Life’s Mess Into Success, she is also an author’s mentor (yes, after failing high school English.) Explore all the books Alicia has published so far on Amazon That great job she lost brought her to where she is now. Her background includes 20 years in childhood education working with multi-million-dollar businesses. She worked her way up to operations, so she understands structures, goal setting, and benchmarks. As well as being grateful and thankful for all the people supporting you in your businesses. Most valuable of all, she understands people. Aside from business, fitness, and coaching qualifications, she is a former educator of the year with skills in action-taking, finishing what she starts, and being a non-judgemental leader. Alicia's clients are often high achievers who are burned out. She teaches them to slow down with gratitude, self-care, and habits before they can speed up again. She shows them what is possible and how to use the skills and strengths they may not know they have. She is mad about community and charity work, running, and new experiences. If you work with her, you need to bring what transformed her life, consistency. S3E58 The Four Radical Commitments for Thriving in Relationships with Tracie Sage

Tracie’s introduction in Tracie’s wordsI know very well how damaging unhealthy relationships can be for ourselves, our intimate connections, and for our whole family. It was through my own healing journey from my dysfunctional and abusive childhood to creating healthy, adoring relationships that I discovered most of the tools and love wisdom I share in my coaching and my 5-star book, The Missing Manual to Love, Marriage, and Intimacy. My formal studies include a background in psychology and counseling, yoga and movement therapy, relationship seminars, and coach training. Yet the greatest contributions to my journey as a Love Catalyst & Relationship Coach have come from the school of life. At this point, I’ve been helping people transform their lives and relationships for 30 years. What nourishes my soul and my passion for coaching are the miracles that happen in people’s relationships when they work with me.In Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, love and relationship are essential after our basic survival needs are met. And when we don’t prioritize this essential need, we can survive however we rarely thrive. So I am on a mission to make a difference in millions of relationships . . . for ourselves, for our children, and for our world.Tracie’s published bookOrder your copy of the Missing Manual to Love, Marriage, and Intimacy by Tracie Sage immediately on Amazon US, here: https://a.co/d/cIdzFhI Connect with Tracie SageWebsite: https://www.traciesage.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lovecatalyst/Tel: +1 541 479 5128 leave a message with your questionsWatch the video of our episode Get full access to Gemma’s Gem blog & Real Talk Real Women podcast at gemmasgem.substack.com/subscribe Get full access to Gemma’s Gem at gemmasgem.substack.com/subscribe
