Have you ever been at a place where you feel far from God but aren't sure what to do about it? Maybe you pray to God and feel like it stops at the ceiling, or maybe you feel like you've done everything for God but don't feel God presence in your every day life. So many Christians are walking away from God because of feeling far from God, but what should we do? In this episode of RTC, Marc and Fuller share some of their own stories about feeling far from God. Using the Bible, they look at the promises of God and what it means to have faith, all while giving some pointers and tips on what to do when you feel far from God. Do our works follow us after death? Growing up in church, you may have heard that the only things that lasts for forever are God and the souls of men, but what about our works that were done here on this earth? If our works don’t matter, than why should we love our neighbor or look after widows and orphans in their distress? Is baptism essential? Most Christians would emphatically say “YES!” but we’ve noticed that to what extent is baptism essential is not always agreed upon. In the last handful of years, conversations around transgenderism have grown to common place to the point where the church now has to ask a question, "How should we think and respond to this movement?" In answering this question and others around the LGBTQ+ community, the church is starting to draw lines in the sand and separating from one another. In doing such, many individual Christians are beginning to also ask questions about transgenderism. Cancel Culture is a recently developed term, but in the last few years, has transformed the way our society both views and responds to companies and celebrities that speaking something that is either objectionable or considered offensive. Now, as Christians we agree that people need to be held accountable for their actions and that we want to see justice administered; however, there seems to be a big disagreement on what should be considered "cancelable" and how we should respond to people who have "made a mistake" at some point in their past. Churches and Christians have taken many hits over the last few years. From scandals, accusations of misusing church resources, and so many other church failures to having a culture that seems to be doing its best to silence Christians in the public space, it seems that the church is starting to lose its ability to impact the culture around them. Communion, The Lord's Supper, Holy Communion, the Eucharist, or whatever your Christian tradition calls this ordinance, communion has been the center-piece of Christian practice since the founding of the early church. Forgiveness. Over the centuries, Christians have been marked by this one simple word. In recent years, people have started saying that sin is a made up concept that is designed to keep religious people in line. In the Christian world, there is a long standing debate of who initiates one's salvation – God or man. Christians are often accused of only caring about babies when they are in the womb but not caring about both mothers and babies after babies are born, especially during political seasons when being Pro-Life becomes a talking point in the political sphere. But here's a question: is this actually true? Marc and Fuller decided to sit down with Andrew Wood to talk about this claim. Andrew Wood is the executive director of Knoxville Hope Resource Center (@knoxvillehope). Hope Resource Center comes alongside expecting parents who don't know where else to turn when they find out they are pregnant by providing care for mothers and babies both before the baby's birth and long after the birth. We have heard from some Christians that they know God loves them, but based on their actions and thoughts, they feel like God doesn’t like them. . . like He’s unhappy with them. Like a parent who says to their child, “I love you, but I just don’t like you at the moment.” Does God ever get to the point where he says, “I love you, but I just don’t like you at the moment." The Purity Culture started as a movement to teach teens and young adults the purpose of sex, dating, and relationships. Although it has great intentions, the movement ended up hurting many who followed the list of do's and don’ts. A few years ago, Joshua Harris, author of “I Kissed Dating Goodbye,” traveled around the nation, recording people’s testimonies of those who were hurt by this movement. Soon after his travels, he felt the need to rescinding his book and condemn the movement, but does all of this make the Purity Culture movement bad? Studies show that over half of all believers wrestle with doubt, specifically regarding if Christianity is the one true religion and if God exists. Over the years, Christians have watched many famous Christian personalities and celebrities walk away from the faith that they once preached (e.g., Marty Sampson of Hillsong United, Jon Steingard of Hawk Nelson, Pastor Joshua Harris, author of I Kissed Dating Goodbye, and performing artist Ray Boltz). There's no question that tattoos are taboo in Christian circles – the more "conservative" a church, the fewer members with tattoos (unless those tattoos were from their past life of course), but it seems that more and more pastors, teachers, and Christians have several tattoos. As Christians, we aren't called to live up to the standard of other people, but we are called to live up to God's standards. What is God's standards on this topic?
