Romans 3:23 says "we all sin and fall short of the glory of God", this is very well known no matter how long one has been a christian. There is something else that can come from the realization of the fact that all have sinned. Adam and Eve experienced it in the garden, shame. "I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried.
