With Graham Fuller, Dr. Vincenzo Romanello, and Ali Rastbeen The Western nations’ apparent commitment to geopolitics—to the old and dying system of imperial control of some nations and peoples over others—is the biggest threat to humanity today and, because it now risks our extinction in a nuclear war, in all of human history. The relentless and psychotic drive of the European, NATO, and other elites toward militarization, toward getting a war with nuclear-armed Russia going at any cost, is a very relevant case in point. Many are decrying the most recent, desperate push of Zelenskyy and his controllers to get U.S. President Donald Trump to send Tomahawk long-range missiles to Ukraine—missiles which the Russians have made quite clear cannot be operated without U.S. military personnel—in order to "get Putin to the negotiating table." Former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter has called on Congress to act immediately to ban the shipment of such weapons to Ukraine, along with intelligence support in targeting the missiles. Trump, for his part, has not yet said whether he’ll make such a stupid move, about which Putin declared in his speech to the Valdai Club on October 2, ”This would signal the advent of a totally new stage in this escalation, including in terms of Russia’s relations with the United States.” In the other British Empire cockpit of war, Southwest Asia, an initial agreement has been reached in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, between Hamas and Israeli negotiators for phase one of a peace deal. Initial statements from U.S. President Donald Trump and the Hamas team state that all of the Israeli hostages and roughly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, who had been seized since October 7, 2023, are to be released; Israeli troops are to withdraw to agreed-upon lines; and the flow of aid is to resume at levels consistent with the January 2025 agreement. The obvious and quite understandable concern of the Hamas team is that Trump give guarantees that he will hold Israel to their end of the bargain. The only solution to the set of crises erupting across the globe is for the Western nations to look to the better angels of their natures, to change their axioms, and to dump the system of war and geopolitical conflict. Our universe is not a dog-eat-dog, Hobbesian world; quite the contrary. Look to the nations of the Global South, of the BRICS, of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization; despite Trump’s tariff warfare, South-South trade is growing, year-on-year; new, cooperative ventures in transportation, energy, and agriculture are beginning in those nations; 7,000 participants from 80 countries are currently attending the “Inventing the Future” forum in Moscow, discussing a wide range of topics from demographic challenges to artificial intelligence and space exploration. Russian President Vladimir Putin told the gathering, "Conclusions and results of such a profound and substantive conversation are of great value. I am confident that we must create our own future based on a sovereign worldview." "I think the sign of the time is cooperation," Zepp-LaRouche said in her Oct. 1 Schiller Institute webcast. "If the Western countries would signal to the Global Majority that they intend to cooperate with them on economics, on politics, on culture, on all kinds of fields, we could move into a new era of civilization." The moment requires our intervention around the world now.

After 738 days, the remaining 20 living hostages held by Hamas were released this morning, fulfilling a deal pushed by President Donald Trump. Trump has convened a summit today, attended by at least 20 nations' leaders, to discuss future governance and reconstruction of Gaza. Will LaRouche's Oasis Plan be part of the plan for a sustainable peace?

The world let out a sigh of relief following the successful summit between President Trump and President Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 15, 2025. While the momentum from that summit has not completely dissipated, it seems to be headed in that direction. The relentless and psychotic drive of European, NATO, and other elites to escalate towards full-on war with a nuclear-armed Russia is now putting the world a few inches away from an irreversible catastrophe—a global nuclear war that would destroy all life on Earth. Pressure is being brought upon the Trump Administration to sell Tomahawk missiles to Europe for use in Ukraine, which are capable of carrying nuclear warheads and can be launched up to a range 1,550 miles, more than enough to hit targets deep within Russian territory, a clear red-line which would make the U.S. and NATO direct participants in the war. Former UN weapons inspector and U.S. marine Scott Ritter had reminded readers in his Substack article, “The Missiles of October,” that Trump had clearly outlined his opposition to the Biden Administration's policy of allowing Ukraine to use the U.S.-provided ATACMS missiles to strike targets deep inside Russia. Trump had said then, in December 2024, “ “I disagree very vehemently with sending missiles hundreds of miles into Russia. Why are we doing that? We’re just escalating this war and making it worse. That should not have been allowed to be done. Now they’re doing not only missiles, but they’re doing other types of weapons. And I think that’s a very big mistake, a very big mistake.” Ritter and others are now mobilizing the U.S. Congress to act immediately to ban the shipment of such weapons to Ukraine, along with intelligence support in targeting the missiles. We know, given the statements of former military experts within the U.S. who have voiced opposition to the current war hysteria which has taken over Washington, that the long-range missiles could not be operated except with the intelligence and reconnaissance data provided by the U.S. to Ukrainian operators. In Southwest Asia, another theater of war, there is cautious, yet renewed hope for a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, following an initial agreement being reached Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, for the first phase of the agreement to release hostages on both sides of the conflict. Initial statements from the teams involved indicate that all of the Israeli hostages, and roughly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners who were seized since October 7, 2023, are to be released; Israeli troops are to withdraw to agreed-upon lines; and the flow of aid is to resume at levels consistent with the January 2025 agreement. It’s our obligation, as actors, not spectators, to make sure the geopolitical confrontation with Russia, China, and other nations is ended, and replaced with win-win agreements between sovereign nation-states, not vassals of Wall Street, for economic development. In a statement written by Helga Zepp-LaRouche, and distributed across several peace rallies in Germany, on the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, she makes clear, “For the first time in human history, we are all in the same boat: We will either go down together, or jointly open a new more humane chapter in universal history. That is why we must stand up against the war hysteria that is being whipped up, with hundreds of thousands of people on the streets—as in the early 1980s. But that is not enough. We must overcome the geopolitical causes of war and overcome, together with the Global South, the great challenges facing humanity—poverty and underdevelopment. Only by helping the countries of the Global South to develop their economic potential will we be able to resolve the refugee crisis in a humane way.” Only through that adopted policy of nations of the world, can we address the roots of all crises. Former nuclear weapons inspector, Scott Ritter, has initiated a campaign to get the U.S. Congress to prohibit the shipment of U.S. Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. With a reference to the October 1962 Cuban missile crisis, resolved peacefully by President John F. Kennedy through diplomatic cooperation with Soviet leader Krushchev, the threat of nuclear war then was resolved by agreements which reduced the danger posed by unchecked proliferation. We face at present a situation more dangerous than 1962, with few world leaders offering solutions. Instead of talking tough and building new weapons systems, now is the time for cooperation, to build "a new international peace order."

This is not about Gaza alone, this is about long sought PEACE in the Middle East.” Many have expressed either praise and discontent with the proposal, but what is lacking is a strong mobilization by citizens to support the only viable solution to the tragic genocide which has become the moral test for all of humanity, determine whether we as a human species can survive. The basis for long-lasting peace is through Lyndon LaRouche’s now five-decade old proposal to provide fresh water to the region through his Oasis Plan, which would ensure the prosperity of all inhabitants, both Israeli and Palestinian in the region. Today the White House released a 20 point program for a ceasefire in Gaza and a way forward whose approval by the United States and Israel were discussed by President Donald Trump and Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, at a joint press briefing at the White House, following their meeting there earlier. The “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict” was reportedly then provided to Hamas for their consideration, by envoys of Egypt and Qatar. Within hours, a joint statement was released by six nations in the region, along with Pakistan and Indonesia, thanking the United States and committing to “working on the program.” President Trump spoke extensively at the press briefing, which did not take questions, thanking these nations, many of whose representatives he met in New York City last week, and others, and ebulliently calling the new program “historic,” and a breakthrough after “thousands of years” of strife. Trump reported how during his talks with Netanyahu this morning, Trump called Qatar’s Prime Minister al Thani, and Netanyahu apologized to him for having bombed his country, an act only “aimed at Hamas,” Netanyahu rationalized. The main specifics Trump chose to announce were that a “Board of Peace” will be formed to oversee the implementation of the proposed terms, such as demilitarizing Hamas, and Trump will head it, though he demurred that he is very busy. Trump made a point of saying that a member of the Board of Peace will be Tony Blair. On economic development, there is barely a veneer of a point or two on the topic, with Point 10 opening by saying, “A Trump economic development plan to rebuild and energize Gaza will be created by convening a panel of experts who have helped birth some of the thriving modern miracle cities in the Middle East….” In reality, the starting point in the whole region is that the current population of 450 million, in the 10 nations and Gulf states, from Egypt eastward to Iran, and Yemen northward to Türkiye, must have the means to life, and for generations ahead, which calls for the LaRouche Oasis Plan approach. Each person, in every sovereign nation, deserves the water, the power, the food, the industry, the healthcare, the education, the surroundings for a productive life. We don’t know what will happen next on this 20-point “Comprehensive Plan,” over the coming hours and days, but any wait-and-see mode of reaction is wrong. We need to organize to spread the reality of the Oasis Plan concept, and variations on it worldwide. This is the dramatic reality of the direction of the Global Majority now underway. Today was also the last day of the UN General Assembly annual General Debate. There were many messages of demand for truth, peace and development over the past six days, though blacked out from general reporting to the international public. EIR will publish several of them in a review. There were dozens of bilateral and group meetings in New York in the past 10 days, among the Global Majority, for example, the BRICS foreign ministers on Sept. 26. Schiller Institute leader Helga Zepp-LaRouche today stressed that, “The Global Majority is not silent about what is going on.” At the same time, there are critical actions in other parts of the world, to end the genocide in Gaza, and also to stop the insane perpetual war stance in Europe, blocking any resolution of the Ukraine conflict. The demonstration in Germany over the weekend was massive. Even more is expected this week in Berlin and elsewhere, for October 3, marking the National Day of Germany. The 20-point peace plan between Israel and the Palestinians was vague on economic solutions. There is little reason to believe that peace can be guaranteed without economic incentives. Netanyahu has proven to be a liar and a war criminal. Without a commitment to advance mutually beneficial economic programs, peace will remain elusive. LaRouche's "Oasis Plan" is a unique plan, as it addresses what is necessary to advance the physical economy of the whole region.

The first two weeks of high-level speeches at the UN General Assembly has come to a close. Yet, the question still remains, whether humanity has the moral fitness to survive. The UNGA meeting, according to China’s Global Times, was an intense collision between nations on the matters relating to the unspeakable genocide taking place in Gaza, NATO’s continuing war of aggression in Ukraine against Russia, and the need for a global architecture which ensures all nations’ path to security and development. Yesterday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang gave an important reality check on the status of international law in world affairs, given Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip and the lack of supposed law-abiding nations in the West to deter Israel. He warned that, “should the era of the law of the jungle return and the weak be left as a prey to the strong, human society would face even more bloodshed and brutality…. Humanity has once again come to a crossroads.” Likewise, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a meeting of G20 foreign ministers that the refusal among the Collective West “to adhere to the principles of the [UN] Charter reveals neocolonial ambitions, fueling global instability and multiplying regional conflicts.” While the Global South is taking responsibility for restoring lawfulness and principles to international affairs through prioritizing mutually beneficial relations with other nations, while committing to economic development through investments in energy, infrastructure, science, and culture, the trans-Atlantic sector of “civilized” countries is being isolated more and more and on the brink of financial disintegration, which would be through the collapse of $2 quadrillion of derivatives assets and financial speculation. What can stop such a sudden collapse? The Hobbesian-like struggle between nations, and the reduction of international law to the “law of the jungle,” was explicitly rejected in the U.S. Declaration of Independence. This was relevantly pointed out by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in his remarks to the UNGA on Tuesday. Like one of his predecessors, Sukarno, who had explicitly referenced the American Revolution as an anti-colonial revolution which gave hope to nations striving for their independence, Subianto recalled the better traditions of the West, as if showing a mirror. He said, “It is indeed a great honor to stand in this august General Assembly Hall, among leaders who represent almost all of humanity. We differ in race, religion, and nationality, yet we gather together as one human family. We are here first and foremost as fellow human beings—each created equal, endowed with unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The words of the U.S. Declaration of Independence have inspired democratic movements across continents—including the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, the Chinese Revolution, and Indonesia’s own journey to freedom. It also gave birth to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the UN in 1948. ‘All men are created equal’ was the creed that opened the way to unprecedented global prosperity and dignity.” Will the people of the United States appeal to the Global Majority through the Declaration of Independence? How many people in the U.S. presently have even read that document thoroughly, or even agree with its basic principles, that all men and women, regardless of race, creed, nationality, or religion, are entitled to “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness?” The revolutionary movement of Benjamin Franklin, which led to a successful international conspiracy to create the first republic across the Atlantic, is what we can draw from to redeem the United States, as we approach the 250th birth of our nation.

In the Mediterranean, a civilian flotilla headed for Gaza reported drone attacks overnight. In response, Italy and Spain decided to dispatch warships to the flotilla—not to fight, but to help if rescue is needed. That careful phrasing says a lot. Are these countries looking for ways to show support without starting a fight they think they cannot win? Israel has closed the West Bank’s only crossing to Jordan, meaning that the only way for Palestinians to travel internationally—or to ship or receive goods—is by entering and passing through Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has announced that he is absolutely opposed to the establishment of a Palestinian state, and his actions to further destroy, isolate, and splinter the Palestinian communities in the West Bank aim to create more "volunteers" for the "voluntary emigration" he promotes, while making the establishment of a Palestinian state even more difficult. Look to Europe. Reports of drones near major airports shut down air travel in Copenhagen and Oslo, while NATO warned Moscow after alleged airspace violations into Estonia. NATO officials insist they’ll defend every inch of Allied territory, yet they also avoid stating what steps they would take. In the United States, hundreds of doctors and health workers warn that cuts and staff losses are hollowing out care for U.S. veterans. YouTube, under political scrutiny, says it’s walking back years of pandemic- and election-era content removals. As Pentagon planners talk about controlling orbital space, many Americans are asking who’s minding urgent needs closer to home, who is thinking about the economic future of the country, and the planet. Meanwhile, the Global South is not sitting around waiting for permission to act. Leaders from Brazil, China, Nigeria, South Africa, Türkiye, Iran, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and others are, in various ways, coordinating more openly—on peace talks, on development, on how to maintain their independence in a world where Anglo-American NATO demands that they choose sides. A change in strategic geometry is needed, and a new security and development architecture is needed for the world. An emergency summit of the League of Arab States and the Organization for Islamic Cooperation was held on Sept. 15 in response to Israel’s outrageous strikes in Doha, Qatar, targeting the Hamas representatives there to negotiate with their Israeli counterparts. Israel’s strike targeted negotiation itself. The summit issued a final communiqué denouncing the Israeli attack on Qatar, the barbaric destruction of Gaza, settlements in the West Bank, and Israeli strikes on Lebanon, Syria, and Iran, and calling for international action. The assembled leaders demanded that the international community act to change Israel’s course. Specifically, they called on all nations “to take all possible legal and effective measures to prevent Israel from continuing its actions” against the Palestinian people, including by supporting efforts to end its impunity, holding it accountable for its violations and crimes, imposing sanctions on it, suspending the supply, transfer, or transit of weapons, ammunition, and military materials—including dual-use items—reviewing diplomatic and economic relations with it, and initiating legal proceedings against it," as well as suspending Israel from the United Nations. In Madrid, a crowd of some 100,000 people shut down the final stage of the Tour of Spain bike race. The prime minister voiced his support for the protesters, and called for Israeli teams to be banned from all international competitions, as has happened to Russian teams. Meanwhile, Moscow persists in warning NATO that it is already at war with Russia, with consequences that could be devastating. The recent drone swarm that entered Poland is seen as a deliberate provocation by those who seek the continuation of the fighting, which is destroying Ukraine. While Trump may have attempted to extricate himself from the Ukraine conflict by making unfulfillable demands on the Europeans, he is moving deeper toward conflict in the Americas with another strike on a Venezuelan vessel and continues his bellicose statements about Gaza. What is needed is the success of an international campaign for a new paradigm of economic, cultural and political relations—the campaign waged for decades by the movement founded by Lyndon LaRouche. In a discussion with international collaborators, Helga Zepp-LaRouche described the changed political world situation after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, which took place on August 31 and September 1, 2025, as follows: “The strategic picture is one of incredible changes going on at the same time and in very different directions. But one thing is certain to say: With the meeting in Tianjin in China with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the world is already changing and has already changed in a way which cannot be undone. What that signifies for sure is that the effort to have a unipolar Western-dominated world in control over the majority of the world population is definitely over. A new system is clearly being established where the attitude of the West to look at this new formation as the enemy is completely suicidal and fatal, and we must correct it. The only way to relate to this emerging new world order is through cooperation. I think that is the absolute message which we have to introduce in every channel of the Western organizing for what can possibly be done. “What is happening is enormous; it is nothing less than the establishment of a new world economic order based on principles which are in great affinity with what Lyndon LaRouche had been fighting for his whole life, starting with the IDB, the idea of overcoming developing sector under-development and introducing justice in the economic system. That will take an enormous fight to explain to people because by just glancing at the media this morning, they are completely hysterical about the fact that the big three—China, India, and Russia—are now together. There are now new documents out that Clinton even considered it at a certain point. Lyndon LaRouche was in the middle of this, if you remember our first trip to Moscow after Lyndon came out of jail. This was the period when this potential clearly existed, and it was sabotaged. So, we should really get this sense across to the people we are talking to, who are all correctly complaining about the suffering of various kinds of poverty, unemployment, other considerations, school violence, drug addiction, suicidal tendencies. This is the moment to really change direction, and I think we must do it with the sense that mankind is the only creative species; that man is gifted with creative reason, and therefore we are not the victims of this or that or some developments we can’t influence. If you have the right historic coalition and constellation of forces, you can, through voluntary action and having the right idea of a plan for the future, one can shape history. I think it is that optimistic sense we must invoke in the people we are organizing so they don’t feel small and think that you can’t do anything anyway, this kind of pessimistic self-conception.”

Zelensky and his European zombie friends continue to crow that Ukraine will be victorious, that no territorial concessions are on the table for a peace agreement with Russia. What can change the political geometry? It may be that the light is at the end of the Bering Strait tunnel. The warm meeting between Presidents Trump and Putin in Alaska included discussion not only of the NATO-Russia conflict unfolding in Ukraine, but also of the enormous potential for cooperation between their Arctic nations. Untold mineral wealth exists in the north. Building a land transportation and development corridor across the Bering Strait which separates the U.S. from Russia, will be a key feature of building out the World Land-Bridge. Unlike transport by air or by sea, land transport and development corridors (including energy, water, and communications) fundamentally transform the economic productivity of the areas they pass through. Were the United States to build up a partnership with Russia, and expand that to cooperation with other nations representing the future of the world (China, India, South Africa, to name a few), the paradigm of hegemonism could be replaced by one of growth. The upcoming meeting in China of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization promises huge potential for China-India rapprochement and normalization. Already, one week ago, Wang Yi’s trip to New Delhi won benefits for both nations. And on September 3, China will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the defeat of Japanese militarism in World War II. Will Donald Trump join Presidents Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin at this historic event? It would certainly be better for Trump than his planned September 17-19 meeting with King Charles! Former Prime Minister of Israel Ehud Olmert spoke to the need for a change of government to end the fighting. "If the meaning of this plan [to take over Gaza City] means the deportation of hundreds of thousands of Gazans, it is totally unbearable and unacceptable," he told Danish media. In that case, "there is no other way to interpret it but ethnic cleansing," he said. Irish President Michael D. Higgins has noted that despite the paralysis of the UN Security Council, the General Assembly is independently capable of calling on countries to act, including with force if need be, to ensure the supply of humanitarian assistance to Gaza, a sentiment also expressed by former South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor. Despite the progress made by Trump and Putin in their bilateral meeting in Alaska, Zelensky and the Europeans seem intent on prolonging the war that is destroying Ukraine. Zelensky, who is acting as the President in Kiev, rejected Trump's call for a comprehensive peace and declared that Ukraine will not part with any of its territory, including even Crimea. Escaping the your-gain-is-my-loss paradigm embraced by the Anglo-American establishment is the only way to achieve a better future.

There is a systemic breakdown crisis of the entire trans-Atlantic financial system underway, and there is an urgent need to come up with alternatives to the beggar-thy-neighbor tariff warfare policies that have been foisted on the Trump administration by hedge fund operatives, such as Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick (think Cantor Fitzgerald), Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent (think George Soros), and Stephen Miran (think Hudson Bay Capital), the head of Trump’s Council of Economic Advisers, whom he just named to the Federal Reserve Board to replace the departing Adriana Kugler. Here’s what the American Soybean Association just told President Trump in an Aug. 19 open letter, in which they urged U.S.-China trade talks to stop the retaliatory tariff warfare: “U.S. soybean farmers are standing at a trade and financial precipice…. U.S. soybean farmers cannot survive a prolonged trade dispute with our largest customer.” China has historically imported more than 60% of the world’s soybean supplies, but the tariff warfare Trump has unleashed means that “China has not purchased any U.S. soybeans for the months ahead as we quickly approach harvest,” and Beijing is turning to other suppliers instead. Soybeans are just one of dozens of agricultural and industrial sectors that are on the chopping block, as a result of Wall Street and the City of London’s perverse looting policies. If Trump were to sit down with Presidents Xi and Putin, much as he did with Putin in Alaska, an entirely different pathway for economic relations among nations could be mapped out. The Bering Strait tunnel project is just the start. This could be combined with full development of the Northern Sea Route across the Arctic Ocean, and the broader Polar Silk Road which is part of China’s global Belt and Road Initiative. The combined rail and maritime development corridors would open up Siberian and North American natural resources for joint high-tech industrial development.
