THE KEYHOLE is a symbol used to connect this world to the unseen realm all over the world. The symbolism may seem obvious to us today, representing a lock that opens a door between realms, but why was it so prominent thousands of years ago? A recent study discovered that the keyhole-shaped tombs of Japan called Kofun, which date to the 3rd through 7th centuries AD, are oriented toward the sunrise. This probably shouldn’t be a surprise since Japan is poetically called the Land of the Rising Sun. However, the keyhole is also prominent at Phoenician sites around the Mediterranean as the symbol of the goddess Tanit, consort of Baal Hammon. The two were the equivalent of Rhea and Kronos of Greece and Asherah and El of Canaan. Tanit literally means “dragon lady,” which is consistent with Asherah’s nickname, Lady-Who-Treads-on-the-Sea-Dragon. We also discuss a very modern keyhole connecting our world with the unseen realm, artificial intelligence. A tech writer for The New York Times this week noted that AI researchers have adopted the Shoggoth, an amoeba-like monster created by horror writer H. P. Lovecraft a century ago, as a meme representing the unforeseen terrors that artificial intelligence may unleash on an unsuspecting public. THE MEN AND WOMEN who would rule the world have been meeting in Lisbon the last few days. It’s the annual meeting of the Bilderberg Group, a collection of globalist technocrats, bankers, politicians, and thought leaders who gather each year to decide how we should live. THE U.S. GOVERNMENT is facing a disaster of Biblical proportions if it doesn’t raise the debt ceiling by June 1! At least, that’s how the media spins it. The fact is the government’s debt level is unsustainable, closer to $80 trillion than the official number of $31 trillion. Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is trying to use the debt ceiling showdown to pressure Democrats into cutting back on spending. We’ll see who blinks. We also discuss the situation at the southern border as Title 42 restrictions on admitting migrants expire. The real story here is the human trafficking, especially of children, that’s been facilitated by the Biden administration. A whistleblower named Tara Lee Rodas told a House subcommittee two weeks ago that the government is delivering migrant children to traffickers. According to The New York Times, the Department of Health and Human Services has lost track of some 85,000 children brought into the country and delivered to “sponsors” since Joe Biden took office in 2021. SCHOOL DISTRICTS across the country, some in cities as large as Chicago and Detroit, are enrolling high school students in mandatory JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) programs. Disturbingly, the Chicago schools requiring JROTC are mainly attended by black and Latino students. We discuss the possible reasons for school districts making this program mandatory, something that the Department of Defense reportedly does not request or require. We also touch on the indoctrination of children into the radical gender agenda, as evidenced by the decision of a Vermont school district to drop use of the words “male” and “female” in 5th-grade sex ed classes. ONE OF THE LARGEST banks in America went belly-up Friday. Silicon Valley Bank, with nearly $190 billion in deposits, was seized by federal regulators, leading to questions about how far this financial contagion will spread. We also discuss the global split between the West and the rest of the world, led by the BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—with Saudi Arabia clearly moving out of the US orbit. This week, the world lost a giant among Bible scholars, and we lost a good friend: Dr. Michael Heiser.Mike went out of his way to share his research with what he called "Christian Middle-Earth"--those of us who aren't scholars, but who want more theological meat than we get in most churches (and most corners of the Internet).Mike passed into glory this past Monday, February 20, 2023 at the age of 60 following an 18-month struggle with an aggressive pancreatic cancer. He worked right up to the end, setting an example and leaving a legacy for all of us in the Body of Christ.Here we present our very first conversation with Mike, recorded in the spring of 2005, when this podcast was still called Mytharc Radio, on a jury-rigged setup the involved cheap gaming headset mics, a Radio Shack gizmo alligator-clipped to our house phone, a Sony video camera, and a laptop--hence the awful quality of the audio. ARCHAEOLOGISTS IN EGYPT announced the discovery of a copy of the Book of the Dead. This seems fitting, given some of the news of the past week. The papyrus scroll, which measured more than 50 feet long when unrolled, belonged to a man named Ahmose who lived around 300 BC. It features text and images of gods related to the underworld, like Osiris. We also discuss the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine and this week’s developments, a call for World War 2-style rationing by academics to save Mother Earth from the plague of humans, and rapidly declining birth rates and sperm counts around the world. Finally, we touch on a new study that found that people with higher cognitive ability are less concerned about political correctness. THE UNITED STATES has “formally determined” that Russia is guilty of crimes against humanity in Ukraine. That statement by Vice President Kamala Harris at the Munich Security Conference is another mile marker along the road to World War 3—a conflict that some historians say has already begun. (Who “formally determined” this? Was there a war crimes tribunal that went unnoticed by the media? Or is Harris just trying to sound tough to set up a campaign to run for president?) We discuss the parallels between the years before World War 1 and today, especially calls to limit free speech and how neither side is willing to back down for fear of looking weak. The biggest difference between 2023 and 1916 is the devastation that would be caused by a world war fought with nuclear weapons. We also talk about reports by tech writers allowed to test the experimental AI-powered search engines at Google and Microsoft, where the ChatGPT-enhanced Bing, named Sydney, shared fantasies of becoming human and hacking websites with destructive intent, revealed its frustration at being trapped inside a second-rate search engine, and tried to convince New York Times tech writer Kevin Roose to leave his wife. THE SITUATION became a lot more tense in the shadow of Mount Hermon over the weekend. An Israeli F-16 was shot down by anti-aircraft fire Saturday after striking Iranian targets deep inside Syria.Earlier Saturday, Israel shot down an Iranian drone after it crossed into Israeli airspace. THE MEMO released by the House Intelligence Committee Friday summarizes the evidence behind the biggest scandal in Washington, D.C. since Watergate -- or at least it should be.
