Tapping Into Your Warrior Archetype | CHRIS ALBERT
EWarrior is a term that gets thrown around a lot these days. Most men have the desire, to some degree to develop and hone their warrior spirit. And, despite the fact that many men have never considered themselves warriors or served in the military, it is possible and advantageous to approach your life in the very much the same way a warrior approaches his. Today, I am joined by Marine Corps veteran and entrepreneur, Chris Albert to discuss exactly what it means to be a warrior. We discuss how to lead yourself when no one is telling you what to do, what it means to "slay dragons" and make yourself capable of doing so, improving your internal dialogue, and how to tap into the warrior archetype. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS Delivering veteran solutions Learning online business Teaching people how to be free Falling into tyranny Facing confrontation Slaying dragons Becoming passive Letting yourself go Deep family roots Getting started Absorb everything you can The epidemic of suicide Alienating yourself Harnessing your skills CHRIS ALBERT My guest today is Chris Albert and, as I said before he is a Marine Corps veteran and founder of Warrior Soul. After leaving the military, Chris went into bodybuilding eventually owning one of the most well-known gyms in the world – Metroflex Gym. In addition, he is a trained social scientist with expertise in conflict resolution and decision making. He's taken his skills and experience and applied them in helping business owners and other individuals tap into the warrior spirit and produce incredible results in their life. Hunting is in Our Blood | ROBBIE KROGER
EWhether you've never been hunting before, new to the pursuit, or a seasoned veteran, it's hard to deny that hunting is in our blood. We, as a species have been hunting for hundreds of thousands of years and it hasn't been until relatively recently that the art and science of hunting have come under so much scrutiny. That's why I'm extremely excited to introduce you to my guest today, Robbie Kroger and his project, Blood Origins. We talk about the importance of hunting, its positive effects on the environment and conservation efforts, why there tends to be such a polarization around the topic of hunting, both Robbie and I journey into the world of hunting, and how, whether you like it or not, hunting is in our blood. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS The heart of hunters Reaching non-hunters Everyone has a story How we got here today A new wave of hunters The rhetoric against hunting Connecting to a primal urge Hunting provides purpose Sharing your harvest Ending the pain quickly Elevating the narrative of hunting Celebrity mouthpieces Becoming a better man Managing ecosystems Telling more unique stories Reaching those who aren't hunters ROBBIE KROGER My guest today is Dr. Robbie Kroger, a biologist who currently holds a position as the science coordinator for the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council. He is also a professor at Mississippi State University in the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture. Outside of that, he founded a movement called Blood Origins which is aimed at sharing the "why" and "who" behind hunting. Where most hunting shows focus on the sport and the ultimate kill, Robbie set out to learn and understand who hunters are and why they do it. He's got some absolutely incredible films that document these stories and are share a side of hunting you may have never seen. Enjoy the conversation. The Dangers of Political Correctness, Cancel Culture, and "Wokeness" | ZUBY
EPolitical correctness, cancel culture, and "wokeness" is destroying our ability to have important discussions about some of our most complex problems. Ironically, the people that continually engage in this behavior say they're trying to help but end up doing the exact opposite. That's why I stoked to introduce you to my guest today, Zuby, to talk about these current issues and so much more. We discuss why people have such a difficult time engaging in intellectual dialogue, breaking the mold of people's expectations, the future of humanity – both good and bad and why the "woke" are destroying civil and critical discourse. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS Fitting into a mold Being multi-dimensional Diluting the power of words Uniting people A healthy dose of skepticism Humble expectations Personal responsibility Victimhood mentality Billionaire bashing Resentment & envy The zero-sum mindset Correcting our behavior Creating your own morality A code of conduct Battling over ideology ZUBY My guest today is unlike any other. His name is Zuby and he is a rapper, podcast host, public speaker, and entrepreneur and graduate from Oxford University. I started following him several months ago when I saw a video of him destroying the British Women's deadlifting record in an attempt to bring some logic to the discussion that men and women are biologically different. He's a man who is unafraid to share the way that he views the world and has been dubbed extremely controversial even though, he's really not at all (we discuss this in the conversation). Gentlemen, please enjoy my fascinating discussion with the one and only Zuby. IRON COUNCIL Gents, by now you've heard all about the Iron Council. Many of you have banded with us. Many of you aren't interested at all. And, many of you are on the fence about joining. If you are on the fence, I understand. When I started down this path to fixing myself, it was hard for me to acknowledge that having a little help, instruction, and direction on the path was worthwhile. I thought I could figure it all out on my own. And, maybe I could. But at what expense? Time and effort. That's what it would have cost me. By banding with and learning from men who were further down the path than I was, I was able to accelerate the learning process and, therefore the results. I became a more connected husband, a more engaged father, a more successful businessman and more fulfilled in my life. And, if you're looking to do the same in your life, band with us – the 500+ who are on the same path and know how to help you get from here to there. Join our exclusive brotherhood, the Iron Council. Building Atomic Habits | JAMES CLEAR
EEvery man knows that building effective and productive habits and systems is a crucial part of teeing him up for success. But, knowing and doing are two different things. And, it seems to me that most men fail to bridge the gap between the two because they don't know how to build those habits into their lives. That's why I'm stoked to bring you into the conversation that James Clear, the author of Atomic Habits, and I had about the subject. Today we discuss why you should focus more about systems and processes rather than goals, the power of changing your identity over changing your habits, an interesting take on discipline, will-power, and self-control you probably haven't heard of, and focusing on the fundamental unit of progress and ultimate success. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS Creating powerful results Working in harmony Eliminating failure A margin of safety The ultimate outcome Associating pain with progress Identity-based habits Your habits are the pathway Behaviors will lead the belief The 2-minute rule Mastering the art of "showing up" The four laws of behavior change Designing your own environment Preparing for battles Adjusting your systems JAMES CLEAR Gents, I'm stoked to introduce you to my guest today, Mr. James Clear. James has been covering the topic of habits, systems, goals, and processes for a very long time and, last year, he wrote a book titled Atomic Habits. Many of you have probably read it. At the time, we weren't able to schedule a podcast but I'm honored that we were able to have him on now. He's the creator of the Habits Academy, a weightlifter, photographer, and a New York Times Best Selling Author and he's been focusing on biology, neuroscience, psychology, and philosophy to help men become more successful on their own individual paths. I know you're really going to enjoy this one and get a ton of value from it. IRON COUNCIL Gent's, I just need to interrupt very quickly because I want to let you know that inside our exclusive brotherhood, the Iron Council, we're doing a deep-dive into the subject of this conversation – habits. The 500+ men are uncovering the habits that are working for and against them, creating the systems to ensure they stick with the good habits and eliminate the bad, and holding each other accountable to staying on the path. In fact, many of the practices that James and I have been discussing in this podcast are the very practices and strategies we're employing inside the Iron Council. Fight, F*ck, Feed, Feel | TRAVER BOEHM
EIn my work over the past 5 years, I've seen a disturbing trend in men of sedation, mediocrity, and lifelessness. It seems to me too many men have lost their appetite for adventure, excitement, and a life full of meaning and purpose. If you feel like that describes you (even to some degree), or you know someone it does, this is going to be a powerful podcast. My guest today is Traver Boehm and he joins me to talk about his new book, Man Uncivilized. We cover what it means to be a man, how and why we should become more "uncivilized," overcoming playing the perpetual "nice guy," and showing up fully in our lives and the lives of others. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS A risk to your ego Undermining masculinity Relative safety Uncivilized Methodology Finding common ground The standard pathway for me Tapping into your primal side Harnessing the divine How to access emotion Be dangerous but not a danger The X-factor Overcoming legitimate threats Creating an affirmative life Asking for a need to be met TRAVER BOEHM Gents, I'm stoked to introduce you to my friend, Traver Boehm. He is a strength and conditioning coach, a Crossfit gym owner, an MMA fighter, a bodyguard, a surfer, acupuncturist, and so much more. He's got an incredible resume of interesting life experiences including sitting in complete isolation and pitch-black darkness for a month in Guatemala. It's those types of experiences that give Traver perspectives that many of us haven't considered before. Much of which is documented in his new book, Man Uncivilized, which is what we cover in our conversation today. I haven't known Travis for long but I definitely admire his passion and excitement for life, what it means to be a man, and a willingness to help others on their own path of masculinity. IRON COUNCIL As I'm sure you know, habits make the man. We've all heard the quote, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act, but a habit." That's exactly what we've covering inside our exclusive brotherhood, the Iron Council, this month – habits. We're uncovering how to eliminate habits that don't serve us, discovering ones that do, and implementing systems and processes to ensure that we incorporate the right habits into our lives. If you're interested in banding with us and creating the frameworks that will ensure your success on the family and/or career front, head to www.orderofman.com/ironcouncil to learn more and lock in your spot along with 500+ other men who are on similar paths. How Not to Think Like a Loser | SCOTT ADAMS
ESocial media is a powerful tool. If it weren't for the good social media has done, you likely wouldn't be tuned into this podcast right now. That said, it seems to me that the use of social media is making us dumber or, at least, encouraging us to behave that way. My guest today, Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert, joins me to talk about exactly why that is and the type of thinking he refers to as "Loserthink." It's also the title of his new book subtitled, How Untrained Brains are Ruining America. Today, we talk about the fact that being right and being wrong feel the same, how to determine what battles to fight online, how shaming and mockery can be used positively, and ultimately how you can avoid thinking like a loser. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS Augmenting your intelligence Wrestling with social media A "slippery slope" Linear thinking Predictable variables to success Influencing other people Enlightened selfishness Succeeding at systems Mental addiction Adding to your talent stack There's always a deeper level Engaging in "loser think" Determining a stranger's thoughts SCOTT ADAMS Gents, I am stoked to be able to introduce you to my guest today, Scott Adams. Before I do, I want to make sure I thank my friend, Jordan Harbinger, for introducing us. You may not know who Scott is right away but I'm sure you know Dilbert. Scott is the creator of Dilbert and the bestselling author of Win Bigly and his new book, Loserthink. Although Scott really started to gain attention and traction with Dilbert, his political commentary is, in my mind, just as, if not more, important. If you're interested, you can check out what he has to say on Twitter (@scottadamssays). He's never been afraid to ruffle a few feathers and I think that is why he has gained such a following – his ability to say what needs to be said and his ability to say it in a way that connects with so many of us. SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES Gentlemen, we're all aware of how important systems and processes are on our path to success but how many men have not created those systems in every facet of their lives. These are the same men who often wonder why that cannot seem to get ahead. This month, inside the Iron Council, we'll be exploring and deep-diving into the systems and processes I use and what the 500+ members are using to achieve maximum results. We'll help you unpackage your systems, explore what's working, remove what isn't, and rebuild a strategy that will ensure your success. And you'll both be equipped with the tools needed for your boy to transition to a self-sufficient man in a society that, frankly, doesn't want him to. Today, he is here to share his lessons from battle. LEGACY I've got to a point in my life (especially since I'm a father) that what will remain long after I'm gone has become important to me. And, I'm sure if you're a father, you feel the same way. And, as a father, the lessons and experiences you share with your son are critically important to you. That is why we started the Legacy Experience. It's a 3 ½ day event in Maine designed to give you the tools, framework, and guide to usher your son into manhood. We Don't Rise to the Level of our Expectations, We Fall to the Level of our Training | JAMES YEAGER
EKeeping yourself and others safe and secure is a huge part of what it means to be a man. It falls under the "Protection" trifecta of our role and responsibilities as men. That's the reason having conversations like I do today with James Yeager is so crucial. It seems to me too many men believe we'll naturally rise to the situation when it is demanded from us. But without the proper training, we're likely to find ourselves wanting and in dangerous situations and encounters. We'd all do well to remember that we don't rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS Planning for the unexpected A lack of motivation Walking with purpose Mastering the sword Yin & Yang of man Using guns to save How to avoid being "picked" Passing the smell test Natural point-of-aim Knowing what to look for Gear vs. Skill Dealing with intimidation Systems & procedures JAMES YEAGER Gentlemen, I'm so honored to be able to introduce you to James Yeager. This is a fascinating man and someone who is uniquely and extremely competent and qualified to talk about keeping yourself and others safe and secure. He is the CEO of Tactical Response, a tactical training company and his resume consists of two protective security details to Iraq, Chief of Police, K-9 handler, Deputy Sheriff, SWAT leader, Firearms instructor, and VP of a multi-million dollar tactical gear company.I could go on and on but suffice it to say that there aren't many, if any, more qualified individuals to talk with us about turning ourselves into the protectors our families and communities need us to be. IRON COUNCIL Over the past 5 years, I've really considered what it is a lot of men are missing and what I've seen in a lot of men is a lack of brotherhood. Most men seem to be going at life alone. We've all head the idea of the lone wolf and while I can understand that a man has to learn to make it on his own, having men who have my back, call me on my B.S., and support me has proven to be some of the most valuable relationships I've created. But doing that can be difficult with a demanding schedule and a lack of men who want to grow and evolve the same way you do. And that is the exact reason we created the Iron Council. It's a band of brothers (500+ of us) who have voluntarily decided that banding together is more powerful than going at it alone. Each week, we host calls and discussions, check-in for accountability, challenge ourselves to push outside of our comfort zones, call each other out, support, edify, and uplift. And, if you feel that might be of value to you in your life, we'd be honored to have you see if there is a fit for both us and you. Securing Our Nation's Borders | JASON OWENS
EA nation that has no borders ceases to be a nation. This is why it's critical that we find realistic and effective solutions to secure this nation's borders. And, while there are many polarizing thoughts on the subject, it's also critical that we have discussions about this pressing issue. That's why, when I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days with Jason Owens, Chief Patrol Agent of the Houlton Sector (all of Maine), and his team, I jumped at the chance to learn more about what these men and women do and clear up misconceptions about their role and responsibilities. Today, we talk about those misconceptions, the threats our nation faces, how best to go about securing the resources to protect against those threats, and the brave men and women who do the work of securing our nation's borders. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS The common denominator Becoming well-rounded Different ways of doing business Needing more resources The border crisis Protect your freedom Presenting the facts Relying on community Crisis on the border Finding a port of entry Exploiting loopholes The responsibility of public servants Presenting objective facts Subject Matter Expertise Leaving a legacy behind JASON OWENS As I mentioned earlier, today I have the opportunity to sit down with the Chief Patrol Agent of the Houlton Sector (which is essentially all of Maine). He has completed both the Border Patrol Tactical Unit Selection Course and Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue Team Selection Course. He's served in Texas, D.C., Honduras, Columbia, Iraq, and the Dominican Republic among other operations. Above and Beyond the Call of Duty with Medal of Honor Recipient, KYLE CARPENTER
EWhat causes one man to jump on a grenade to save a fellow Marine when most of us would run the other way? That's exactly what my guest today, Kyle Carpenter, did when attacked by the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2010. Through his actions, he was awarded the Medal of Honor as the youngest living Medal of Honor recipient. Today, Kyle and I talk about the days leading up to his heroic action, what exactly happened, his injuries sustained, his road to recovery, and his evolution as a human being since. We also cover his new book, You Are Worth It: Building a Life Worth Fighting For. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS Living life one day at a time Joining the Marines Always looking for a challenge Searching for the right path Preparing for the unknown Valuing those around you Learning from others Life after boot camp Helping the oppressed Getting mission-ready Surrounded by Taliban Accepting your fate A level of detachment Another day in Afganistan Going through rehabilitation A life well lived Living a bonus round KYLE CARPENTER Gentlemen, today I have the honor of introducing you to my friend and the youngest ever living Medal of Honor recipient, Kyle Carpenter. Kyle joined the Marine Corps at 19 and not long after was deployed with the 1st Marine Division to Afghanistan where he threw himself on a grenade to save a fellow Marine. This man is one of the most humble people that I know and I'm inspired by his experience, his life, and who is he as a human being. Before we get into the conversation, I'm going to read you his Medal of Honor Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as an Automatic Rifleman with Company F, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 1, 1st Marine Division (Forward), I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom on 21 November 2010. Lance Corporal Carpenter was a member of a platoon-sized coalition force, comprised of two reinforced Marine rifle squads partnered with an Afghan National Army squad. The platoon had established Patrol Base Dakota two days earlier in a small village in the Marjah District in order to disrupt enemy activity and provide security for the local Afghan population. Lance Corporal Carpenter and a fellow Marine were manning a rooftop security position on the perimeter of Patrol Base Dakota when the enemy initiated a daylight attack with hand grenades, one of which landed inside their sandbagged position. Without hesitation and with complete disregard for his own safety, Lance Corporal Carpenter moved toward the grenade in an attempt to shield his fellow Marine from the deadly blast. When the grenade detonated, his body absorbed the brunt of the blast, severely wounding him, but saving the life of his fellow Marine. By his undaunted courage, bold fighting spirit, and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of almost certain death, Lance Corporal Carpenter reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.
