101. Unconventional Leadership Qualities

In this episode, Brian Gubernick discusses how to become a better leader and how to identify leaders in your organization. In Sam Walker's book, The Captain Class, through analyzing and studying sports teams, Walker discovered that the individual that you would typically suspect to be the team's captain was not always the captain of the team. Rather, the leadership qualities that the captains displayed were different from what society might believe to be 'captain-like qualities'. Brian walks through a few of the lessons that he learned from this book and shares some stories about influential leaders who led their teams to victories. 97. Multiplicative System

In this episode, I am sharing my new favorite mental model: multiplicative systems. As we learned in elementary school, anything multiplied by zero, equals zero. No matter how great or complex the number, if it is multiplied by zero, it will equal zero. How does this apply to our lives or businesses? In anything you are doing in life, no matter how hard you are working, how many people are supporting you, or how much you have succeeded in the past, if you include any 'zero' variable in that mix, the outcome will be... zero. Today's focusing questions: As you breakdown your business, can you identify any zeros? What can you do starting today, to move that item from zero to anything above zero? Today's challenge: What is the 'one big thing' you are doing this year? If you don't have one, what could your 'one big thing' be that would define your next 12 months? 79. 40% Rule

In this episode, we delve deeper into the topic of mindset and explore the concept of unlocking your untapped potential using the 40% rule. The 40% rule challenges the belief that we have reached our limits when we feel overwhelmed or exhausted. It suggests that we are actually operating at just 40% of our true potential during those moments. By embracing this rule, you can cultivate resilience and mental toughness, empowering yourself to push beyond perceived limitations. It provides a valuable framework for breaking through barriers and achieving personal growth. Today's challenge: Where can you leverage the 40% rule today? What do you have coming up in the future where you know you are going to have some pain, where you can remind yourself that you have more energy and resilience left in your tank? -- Subscribe to our daily texts! 75. Knowledge Isn't Power

In this episode, we are discussing why knowledge is, in fact, not power and why the commonly known phrase 'knowledge is power' was taken out of context from the beginning. I share a personal epiphany that I recently had around all of the books I have read in the last few years and the realization of the disparity between gaining knowledge from those books and taking meaningful action. Today's challenge: What have you learned recently but you have yet to take action and apply the knowledge you learned? 74. Limitless Mindset

In this episode, I am digging into mindset, specifically how to adopt and maintain a limitless mindset. I share a story that made history back in the 1950s. Sir Roger Bannister was the first athlete to run the first sub-4-minute mile, which up until then had been deemed 'impossible' to achieve. What has happened since then is impressive. We discuss a limiting mindset vs a limitless mindset and the impact your mindset will have on those around you. Today's challenge: Where is your mindset too fixed? Where do you have limiting beliefs? What can we do to block limiting beliefs? How can you create new beliefs to help you adopt that limitless mindset? -- Subscribe to our daily texts! 72. Increase Your Options, Increase Your Success

In this episode, I am sharing a lesson that I have learned from past experiences, in both life and business. Making great decisions is a function of the number of options you have available to you. Having many different options to choose from will allow you to make a better decision and choose the best possible option. On the contrary, when you have limited options to choose from, you may become restricted in your ability to make informed decisions. Today's challenge: What decision do you have to make today when you don't have enough options available to you? What steps can you take to increase your number of options and thus increase your chances of success? -- Subscribe to our daily texts! 71. What's In It For Me?

What's in it for me? This acronym, WIIFM, serves as a strategic approach to evaluate the significance of something and identify the advantages or benefits it offers to individuals. I share a couple of examples of how to use WIIFM in business and life: In business when you understand the WIIFM as it pertains to your clients or customers, you can have much more significant influence over their purchasing decisions. By understanding what they stand to gain, you can tailor your approach and effectively persuade them. This strategy can also be used for developing relationships - personal or professional. By grasping what others can gain from knowing you or collaborating with you, you can articulate those specific benefits to help them recognize the advantages of having a relationship with you. Today's challenge: As you go about life today, as you are speaking to other individuals, take a moment to ask yourself 'What's in it for them?' and get very clear around. How can you further leverage this WIIFM process in your personal and professional worlds? -- Subscribe to our daily texts! 69. When in Doubt, Disclose - George & the Cherry Tree

In celebration of the 4th of July, I am revisiting a story about George Washington - George and the Cherry Tree. In this story, George receives a gift from his father, makes a questionable choice, and is later tested with telling the truth. At this moment, although George may have initially upset his father with the choice he made, his father was proud that his son told the truth. In the spirit of being honest, I share a phrase that I ask myself on a regular basis to remind myself to display truth and honesty in any situation. Today's focusing question: What's on your mind right now that you should consider being more transparent around? Would being honest today make for a better outcome in the long run?
