Monday President Trump visited the Middle East to celebrate a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Pro- Palestinian Rally Turns Violent in Boston
Tuesday night, on the 2-year anniversary of the start of the Israeli-Hamas war, thirteen people were arrested and four Boston Police officers were injured during a Pro-Palestinian rally that was taking place on Boston Common, which then moved onto other nearby streets. Reports say that protesters were blocking the street, preventing officers from responding to another incident nearby, when the violence erupted. Boston Mayor Wu said the city will not tolerate the violence and that those arrested should be “prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law” for attacking police officers. A Lack of Common Sense?
A visiting Harvard Law Professor was arrested for allegedly firing a pellet rifle outside a Brookline synagogue where congregants were marking the start of Yom Kippur. Carlos Portugal Gouvêa told police he was “hunting for rats” and not aware he lived next to a synagogue or that it was a religious holiday. Earlier this week on Monday evening we interviewed Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch in which he made spontaneous comments about the Catholic Church child sexual abuse scandal of several years ago in which he said, “That was mostly homosexual issues, not pedophilia.” Koch went on to say that “the level in which it happens with teachers and coaches is higher than it was percentage wise than the church.” The comments received lots of backlash from the public, Quincy school board and abuse survivors with some even calling for the mayor’s resignation.
