NDE Radio With Lee Witting

Eight years before the current pandemic, Chris Kito came close to dying by not being able to take a breath. At age 24, Chris experienced an NDE due to an allergic reaction to a bite of birthday cake containing peanuts. It took the next seven years before he had integrated the experience sufficient to be able to share his story, and begin to make sense of his life. Chris feels that a transformation took place, changing what had been his previous youthful outlook on life to a newfound spirituality, and to his successful career. Chris was fortunate to survive his loss of breath, but whether or not we live or die, Chris’ story lets us know a comforting fact — we do not die alone.

In 2008, Christine contracted Necrotizing Fasciitis (aka, flesh-eating bacteria) in her throat and chest. She was given a 10% chance of surviving. Months prior, she had many warning dreams, and in the hospital, during a month in a medically-induced coma, her dreams and perhaps NDE mirrored what was happening on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. Upon awakening, she could not breath on her own, speak, eat, or walk. But with a growing will to live, she also experienced growing intuition and increasingly frequent lucid and precognitive dreams. Today, Christine explores various modalities, including yoga, dreamwork, counseling, Indigenous healing ceremonies, and shamanic journeying. She obtained her Master’s degree in Depth Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2015, and became a licensed professional counselor in 2018.

Claudia Watts Edge's happy childhood suddenly fell apart at age 16 when her beloved father was killed in a work-related accident. Her father's death served as a catalyst, creating a thirst for answers, and this led her, in the 1970’s, to Raymond Moody’s writings about NDEs. The search was further heightened when Claudia had a profound near-death experience in 1984, when she and her new-born baby died together in a placenta-related disaster. Her journey into fully understanding her NDE took over 30 years to evolve, and as a result. she has written two books exploring the spiritual mysteries of the Other Side as seen through her memories and dreams. They are titled Gifts from the Edge: Stories of the Other Side, and Gifts from the Edge, Volume Two: Lessons from the Other Side.

Dr. Karen Wyatt is a family physician who spent much of her twenty-five-year career as a hospice medical director caring for dying patients in their homes. Dr Wyatt has lectured and written extensively on end-of-life issues, with an emphasis on the spiritual aspect of illness and dying. Though she doesn’t remember the details, Karen stopped breathing at age five long enough to have possibly experienced an NDE. The suicide death of her father triggered a deep depression, which only began to lift as she got into her work with hospice patients. Dr. Wyatt is the host of the popular podcast End-of-Life University (eoluniversity.com), and is the author of the book, Seven Lesson for the Living from the Dying.

Lilia Samoilo, a return guest to the show, is a near-death experiencer and has been a mental health and spiritual counselor for over 35 years. As a minister and an international veteran NDE educator, she coined the phrase “closing the medical and spiritual Gap of Care for NDE patients,” and spent years raising awareness about NDEs worldwide to medical professionals and clergy. Lilia is an associate of Dr. Diane Corcoran’s Vet NDE Project, and both of them were invited by Heidi Walsh to be co-commentary authors for the NIB NDE Symposium, published in MUSE by John Hopkins University Press, May, 2020 issue. Our return guest, Lilia Samoilo first visited with NDE Radio on our Sept. 23, 2019 show. Lilia was an NDEr by the age of three. Since then, she has had numerous NDEs and STEs that have inspired her to the service of others, and to help raise global awareness about NDEs and STEs. At the age of 12, Ellen Whealton was learning to ride Western-style when the cinch slipped and she was kicked in the temple by the horse. She lay in a coma for five days, during which time she experienced a remarkable NDE with tremendously impactful spiritual lessons. Ellen was drawn back into her body by music, but with practically no memory of her life before the accident. Today, Ellen is a transpersonal and music therapist, healer, workshop presenter and educator who uses numerous modalities such as music, sound bowls, essential oils, meditation and more.

Genny Krackau is the author of Beyond The Explosion, Stories of Light, a compilation of combat near-death experience stories. Genny is a life resident of San Antonio, Texas, and has spent the majority of her civil service career working in the U.S. Army Medial Department. Following her retirement from the U.S. Army Medical Command at Ft. Sam Houston, she worked several government contract jobs in clinical research. Genny personally relates to near-death experiencers because she herself has had spiritual experiences, beginning in childhood. She continues to volunteer her services to veterans by participating in Veterans NDE panel discussions, and as a Military/Vet NDE workshop presenter at IANDS conferences.

Raymond O’Brien comes from a family of seers, but that wasn’t enough to set him out initially on a healthy lifestyle. Our guest, Ginny Jablonski, retired from a career in private security in 2001 to focus on unresolved medical issues. Traditional medicine had not been effective, and the prescription medication she was taking finally stopped her heart triggering an NDE in the early morning hours of her 47th birthday. Today's guest, Dr. Rebecca Valla, is an integrative psychiatrist with a deep interest in NDEs and what they can teach us about ourselves. Dr. Valla grew up in a large family which was attached to an exclusive brethren sect, the Plymouth Brethren. Her spiritual path became her guiding light at a young age, and allowed her to navigate a very dysfunctional and isolated early life experience. It led to the discovery of psychotherapy as a healing art, and to a blending of the spiritual and the psychological, what Carl Jung termed the process of individuation. Dr. Valla became involved in the metaphysical as she developed her intuitive abilities. In Part One of our interview, Ken Root describes his first mystical experience in a car accident as a teenager, where he was greeted and protected by a loving guide, and for a few moments was given the gift of “seeing” the structure of time. Unable to process the experience and in deep denial, a few years later he found it happening to him again. This time the guide greeted him with “You tried to stuff it last time, so this needed to happen to you again. Pay attention and remember this for the rest of your life!” (The divine knocked repeatedly and Ken kept hitting the snooze button... for decades.) After going through his own “dark night of the soul” a few years ago and the explosive growth that followed, Ken now believes that humanity is facing a similar “dark night” on a global scale and we are all entering a difficult period.
