Podcast 290: Crash and Scam

This week on our motorcycle podcast we bring to you another crash report. Our own Zee Traveler had a bad spill on the freeway, and her bike was totaled. She's recovering, but we wanted to discuss gear. We learn from Zee's crash that just because you're wearing your gear doesn't mean you're protected. We also talk about what happens to your bike when it gets towed away after an accident. Be careful, because this is a whole other area to be scammed in. We try out a new game where we ask Miss Emma anything at all, and see how well she can answer it. As you might guess, she had in depth knowledge on each and every subject. We finish up with listener emails, and one more crash story. Congratulations to this month's Patreon Prize Pack winner, James Snell. With Liza, Kelley, Miss Emma, Douglas, Henry and Naked Jim. Podcast 289: Good Bad Ideas with special guest Carmen Gentile

This week on our motorcycle podcast we bring to you a whole batch of good bad ideas. First up we talk about our bright idea to rewire the entire garage, and turn our old gas pump into the first DC charger for Zero motorcycles. Then we hear from our guest, journalist and author, Carmen Gentile. He was reporting on the war in Irag and took a rocket propelled grenade to the face. Miraculously he survived. He and a friend, photographer Nish Nalbandian, went back to Iraq and bought a Ural with a sidecar to travel around war torn Mosul. Next up we continue with the good bad ideas by announcing a new project we're going to build. Jim has a DR350 with a dead engine, and we decided it's time to turn it into an electric death bike. With the help of Brandon, Terry and others, we've got all the components to make this happen. Then Jim and Liza announce that they have purchased some electric mini bikes for doing stupid stuff on. Good idea or bad idea? Time will tell. Ural has announced that they are going to be releasing an electric version of their side car rig, and we all agree this is actually a good idea. Lastly, we finish with listener emails. With Liza, Nak, Naked Jim, Bagel, Miss Emma, Michael, Bex, Maruka and Brandon. Podcast 288: Traumatic Lap Dance

This week on our motorcycle podcast we bring to you one of the most attended d shit shows in a while. We packed them in deep. First we start with what we did today. Not much work got done, but we did have a surprise birthday party for listener Patrick. Unfortunately we can't afford the good strippers, so Liza did a dildo lap dance instead that is sure to give him cold sweats for weeks. Next up we give away some IMS tickets by calling listeners at home, and asking them a question. We were 6 for 6, so good job to the winners! We hear from AJ and Jesse, who are two travelers who've chosen life on the road with their bikes. How does someone support the lifestyle, and what drives them to it? Listen and find out. Then we hear from Brandon, who's preparing to race in the Baja 1000, one of the most grueling motorcycle races in the world. Oh yeah, he's going to do it on a Zero electric motorcycle. AND, he broke his back this year and has 5 vertebrae fused. AND, he's never ridden on dirt. Is he going to be successful? My money's on yes. We see old friends, and make new ones every year. Everyone walks the street looking at bikes and starting conversations, usually around the most interesting or collectable bikes. There's patch wearing clubs, punk bands, burnouts, children and pets, hooligans and smiles everywhere. We look forward to this every year, and can't wait for the next go round. Podcast 268: LA Stories

Liza and Jim took a trip to LA to take in as much of the SoCal motorcycle culture as they could, conducting interviews along the way. This show features some of the highlights. They start with the Custom Revolution exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum where Paul D'Orleans has helped to curate an exhibit of custom bikes from around the world. And with the Petersen's know how in displaying vehicles in new and insightful ways, you can spend hours staring and taking in all the details in craftsmanship. They also explore the other motorcycles throughout the museum, getting stories along the way, and even getting access to the bikes in the vault not currently on display. Next they visit the Garage Company, brain child of builder and collector Yoshi Kosaka. This place is a museum and a custom bike building wonderland. Definitely want to go back and spend more time there. They were fortunate to run into builder Jeremy Hutch, who they had met at the One Show in Portland. They sit down with Hutch and learn more about his background and building style. Lastly they visit the famed Lucky Wheels Garage, a co-op motorcycle space that immediately feels like coming home.
