The world would be a better place if everyone Re-Cycled. I'm not talking about cans and cardboard and stuff, I'm talking about our very own Re-Cycle Garage. A free to all, one day a week, community driven co-op garage space where anyone can work on their bike, get some free gear, grab a cold drink and a chair and swap stories. Liza is back from England, where she spent time at the Ace Cafe, as well as the Triumph Factory. It was here that she got to hang with some of the engineers who design the components for the new bikes, and they were all women! She also shares a UK trivia game that you can play along with. We learn the difference between a naked bike, ride and a naked, bike ride. A young man came to the garage on an old CM400 and was surprised at all the cool stuff he learned about why that bike is so cool. Jim is back from another Misfits desert trip to the Mojave, and has some cool stories including how to light the campfire the right way. Darrin Caddes may not be a name you know, but you know his work. Darrin is a designer who has worked for many companies, most recently Plantronics. But it’s his time with BMW and Indian that made a mark on the motorcycle industry. Ever heard of the BMW GSA? As in Adventure? Yep, he’s the one who turned the GS into the proper adventure bike we know today. Darrin shares his stories with us of the old school design process of sketching and sculpting to design components and whole bikes. He also tells us his story of why he never got to ride any of the bikes he designed. At what point does new technology go too far? Many of the new features on bikes, such as the adaptive LED Matrix headlight on the new Tracer GT, are there for safety but they come at a price. Sometimes that price may shorten the longevity of the bike due to cost to repair, but that same technology might also save your life. We talk about some of these costly features and if they are truly worth it. We follow this up with a talk about old tech that might be ready to come back. We saw it happen with the Hondamatic that didn't last, but now Honda is taking another shot with both the DCT and auto clutch.
