PAUSE Breathe in some more, letting any distracting thoughts gently drifting away, leaving you relaxed and peaceful. PAUSE Now, imagine seeing a beautiful sea turtle with a shell of brown, olive green, and black. PAUSE And, as you observe the turtle, you notice its gentle, dark eyes that scan the water. PAUSE You notice the effortless motion of the turtle’s flippers that glide it through the water. PAUSE You notice its rough, wizened face that suggests decades of life and wisdom. PAUSE As you move along with the turtle, you see that it rises to the surface for a few moments. It pokes its head out and then floats, letting the warm sun gently bathe its body. PAUSE After a while, the turtle dives back into the water. But the descent is slow and graceful. There is no rush. Just a peaceful progression to what is next. PAUSE As the turtle reaches the bottom, it nibbles on some sea grass, savoring every bite. Again, there is no rush. PAUSE Now, bring yourself back to the present moment. And, as you do, ask yourself what have you learned from the sea turtle. Can you find areas in your life where you can slow down? PAUSE Breathe. and create an intention to slow down the pace of your life, to give yourself less stress, and to let every moment matter. “I will slow down and savor the moment.” Just like the sea turtle. PAUSE Now, take a slow, deep breath, and let the energy circulate through you. PAUSE Now, imagine, if you can, getting to swim with dolphins. Together, you are in the water. PAUSE The first thing you observe is how they glide and flow in the water. Their bodies effortlessly cut through the sea and under waves. Sometimes, they even jump over the waves. PAUSE As they dance in the waves, you feel a sense of joy rising in you– a sense of playfulness that you may not always allow to come to the surface. In this moment, that sense of playfulness is alive. PAUSE The next thing you notice about these whimsical spirits is their connectedness to each other. They click and chirp, sending coded messages to each other. PAUSE As you move close to each dolphin, their eyes twinkle with intelligence. They may twirl and spin and splash, but they are also smart and aware. PAUSE After a while, the dolphins swim to a school of fish. the playing and splashing stop, they become focused on their food, all working together. PAUSE Once the dolphins are fed, they return to their joyful spirits, dancing in the waves. PAUSE Now, breathe, and return to the here and now. Does your life need more play? More time to be joyful like the dolphins? PAUSE Breathe. and create an intention to add more playfulness to your life. “I will take time to play and find the joy in life.” Hold this intention close, and whenever life gets too serious, say it aloud, and tap into your inner dolphin. PAUSE Now, breathe. Breathe in greater openness. Breathe in clarity. Breathe in peace. PAUSE Imagine, if you can, that your body transforms into a fish– a beautiful colorful fish swimming in the sea. PAUSE And, as a fish, the first thing you notice is that your body is weightless in the water. Breathe, and allow yourself to feel the weightlessness of your body, the lightness of your soul. Notice the feeling of freedom it brings to you. PAUSE Now, breathe, some more, and try out your tail. Notice its strength, as it propels you through the water. How does it feel? PAUSE Now, take a breath, and move your fins, observing how they balance you and help you steer where you want to go. PAUSE Now, imagine swimming along and coming to a coral reef teeming with magnificent colors. There is blue. There is red. There is green. And there is purple. A rainbow alive in the sea. PAUSE And, at the coral reef, You notice hundreds of fish. Some are swimming. Some are eating. And some are just floating, motionless. After a minute, you realize that the motionless fish are sleeping– like floating peacefully in a meditative state. PAUSE Take a moment, and become aware of being in a peaceful, meditative state. feel yourself floating. Hold this feeling. PAUSE Now, give yourself permission to come back to the present in your own body. Does it feel different after experiencing the world of the fish? PAUSE Now, take a deep breath, and imagine feeling the weightless and peace of the fish again. Allow yourself to create an intention for that. “I let go of heavy stress and feel the lightness of peace.” It is there for you whenever you need it. So say it to yourself, and then, just breathe and float. PAUSE Now, take another deep breath, and open yourself to listening and accepting. PAUSE It is said that we all have three hearts. One in our mouths that the world sees. One in our chest for friends and family. And one deep inside that only we know about and do not share with others. PAUSE Now, draw in a deep breath, And find the heart in your mouth. Listen and feel for its pulse. PAUSE Take a minute and attune the pulse of the heart of the mouth. Is it fast, as if anxious or full of energy? Is it slow, as if pulling back or isolated. Does it change? Stay with it, allowing yourself to observe the heart that’s visible to the world. PAUSE Now, breathe again, and move your awareness to your chest, where the heart you share with family and friends beats. PAUSE Take a minute to find its pulse. Is it a joyous pulse? A pulse filled with love? Stay with it, allowing yourself to become aware of the heart you share with loved ones. PAUSE Now, breathe again. Breathe in deep, as you go deep inside to the heart that’s buried within. Take a minute And observe the heart To really feel its pulse. Is it beating with pain? Difficult memories? Secret parts of you that you want to keep hidden? Connect with this heart without judgment. PAUSE Now, breathe light into this heart. Watch as it penetrates and opens the space, filling it with light, and evening the pulse. Keep breathing. Keep breathing, And trust that this heart is healing. You are healing. PAUSE Now, bring your awareness back to the present. Come back gently, knowing that you understand your three hearts, and that you have the power to steady their pulses, Any time. PAUSE Feel yourself heal, Feel yourself cleanse, Feel yourself free. LONG PAUSE Now come back to center, One with the rhythmic beating of your heart. Bring your hand to feel it, As you bow your head, And honor your heart’s ability to forgive and love. PAUSE Now, breathe. and let the memory go. Keep breathing. PAUSE And now breathe, And shift to imagining a situation that you’re concerned about. A situation with who might become angry or frustrated when you see them. Allow yourself to visualize this person from a distance and to avoid judging yourself or them. PAUSE Now, breathe deeply again, this time visualizing the aura of your heart reaching out to them, touching them, wrapping them in pink with love and light. Hold them in this space. PAUSE Now, take a minute and notice that, as your love and light envelopes them, their face softens, their emotions shift, and they are more open and receptive to you. And when the situation you were concerned about is presented to them, they respond with kindness, compassion, and understanding. PAUSE Now, breathe. Remember, forgiving is not forgetting, and you have the power to choose how or whether you continue the relationship. Forgiveness is for you. Because you deserve Happiness, Peace, and Love. Know that you can open and close the heart’s door to forgiveness whenever you want. PAUSE And, as you breathe, allow your mind to clear and open, as you prepare for meditation. PAUSE Now, breathe again, and imagine, if you can, opening the door to a room with a round table. Seated at the table are Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and Nelson Mandela. PAUSE As you enter the room, you notice there is a fourth chair at the table, a chair for you. You quietly slide into the chair. PAUSE As you sit down, you realize that the three men are in a discussion about freedom. When they see you’re seated, they smile, nod, and turn their attention to you. PAUSE Martin Luther King speaks first, “I had a dream of peace and love for all,” he says. Now, it is your turn to smile and nod at Dr. King. PAUSE Then, Mahatma Gandhi speaks, “Violence is never the answer. Violence just begets violence.” Again, you nod and smile. PAUSE Then Nelson Mandela clears his throat and says, “Hatred has no place in this world.” You nod in agreement. PAUSE Pause for a moment, and think about why you’ve been brought before these three men. “You all fought bravely for freedom.” PAUSE The three men nod, And then say, “But freedom is not free. There is a price to pay, whether it’s freedom for the whole world, or in your everyday life. There is a cost.” PAUSE You pause for a moment, sondering if what you heard was true. “Would you all have stopped your fights if you knew the price.” The men all shake their heads no. “And neither should you,” they say. PAUSE Now, slowly come back to the present. and, as you do, think about your life. Are there areas where you want more freedom, but have been afraid to fight for it because of the cost? Really sit with this thought. Reflect on it. PAUSE Now, breathe again, and let the words of Gandhi, King, and Mandela sink into you. Acknowledge that you are being called to create more freedom in your life. To be who you really are. And that men like Gandhi, King, and Mandela wouldn’t have changed their minds just because there was a cost to freedom. The cost only makes your freedom more valuable. PAUSE Now, breathe again, and this time, see yourself as a writer, perched on a chair in front of a computer. And, as a writer, you are free to write whatever you want. Your expression has no limits. There is no judgment. What would you say? Would you feel a release from letting the words fall on the page? Let yourself write. Then, reflect on this for a minute. PAUSE Breathe deeply, and allow yourself to come back to the present. How did if feel to create, to just fully express yourself with total freedom? Hold onto this. PAUSE And, as you see all that is in your house, Ask yourself, “What is really important here?” There are probably some objects that hold joy for you, or sentimental value. That’s okay. No judgment. But, are there things you could detach from? PAUSE Now, imagine your home fills With all the people you know, And you take a moment To silently scan the room. PAUSE There are people you love. People you like. People you work with. People you just know. Are there people who are toxic to you? Ask yourself, “Can I detach from some of these people?” PAUSE Now, breathe, and bring yourself back to your center. And, as you do, give yourself permission to feel how it would be without those unnecessary objects or people in your life. If you detach from them, would you feel more free? Take a minute to reflect on this. PAUSE Now, breathe. And let yourself form an intention: “When I’m ready, I will detach from what or who is unnecessary in my life.” PAUSE Breathe again. And give yourself permission to feel pride because of your courage and willingness to consider detaching. You don’t have to do it today, but now that it’s in your awareness, you’ve taken one step closer to becoming more free. And then you arrive at the City of Light–Paris. PAUSE Now, imagine landing At the top of the Eiffel tower In the early morning before dawn. A pink and purple sky blankets Paris. And you can see cars beginning to line streets, and shop owners opening. And, as you watch, you notice feeling free and new, just like the dawn. Hold onto this feeling. PAUSE You outstretch your arms, and are lifted into the air once more. This time, landing at the Grand Canyon in the late afternoon. There is an incredible feeling of freedom and adventure as you gaze into the canyon that is painted red, rose, orange, and yellow by the fading sun. PAUSE Breathe, And bring yourself back to the present. And, as you become aware of the here and now, acknowledge how freeing it is to travel and embark on new adventures. And give yourself permission to do so, in life, or in your imagination. PAUSE And, now feel the healing breath as it circulates through your head, opening your sinuses and relaxing your forehead. PAUSE Now, breathe. Breathe, and feel how good your body feels. Hold that feeling. PAUSE Then, imagine the key floating gently into your pocket, and nestling safely there. And you become aware, that the key to freeing your stress is with you. Always. You go inside for a cup of coffee. A young girl with a nose ring smiles and sets your coffee on the counter. As you drink the steaming lifeblood, you walk slowly back to your house. PAUSE The sun has risen more, and hints of blue sky are now visible. And, as you reach your house, you raise your head to the sky and thank the Universe for your little neighborhood. Just breathe and be. Just breathe and be. PAUSE Imagine, if you can, being transported to a woodland clearing with hundreds of brightly colored flowers blooming in the morning sunlight. PAUSE As you gaze at the clearing, a tall flower with dozens of tiny bell-shaped petals catches your eye. It is foxglove–the favored fairy flower. PAUSE You approach the flower gingerly, hoping to see a fairy. You lean near the flower, watching and listening. PAUSE After a few moment, you hear a high-pitched twitter, like a tiny bell. The fairies are active. PAUSE You wait patiently, And after a while a tiny, green fairy emerges from the flower. She flies toward you, her iridescent wings glistening in the sun. Then she pauses near your face. PAUSE You nod your head slightly, and at that very moment, the fairy looks down at the flower. The foxglove is bowing to you. PAUSE The fairy smiles and begins twittering again. This time you understand her when she tells you of the sacred nature of the foxglove. “It bows when a spiritual creature passes by it.” Then, the fairy flies away. PAUSE You take a moment and watch the fairy flit from flower to flower, and then look once more at the bowing foxglove. But this time, you bow to the fairy flower, because you will take with you the confirmation of your deep spiritual self. And let it bloom in you always. PAUSE Now, imagine closing your eyes while holding the lilac, and as you do, you feel a sense of protection surrounding you. Lilac is a source of spiritual protection against negative energy. PAUSE You breathe in more of the lilac’s fragrance. And this time, a creative energy surges in you. You feel inspired to act, to create. So, you close your eyes and imagine what to create. Really take a moment and allow yourself to feel creative and inspired. That is another gift of the lilac. PAUSE Your time is the garden is coming to a close. So, you get off the bench and begin walking. And, as you walk, you hear a tiny voice whisper more about the lilac. It is a symbol of innocence and purity. PAUSE Now, with your eyes still closed, bring your consciousness back to the present. And, along with your awareness, bring back the gifts of the lilac. Now is the time to embrace them: Protection from negative energy. Creativity and inspiration. Innocence and purity. Breathe, and let the scent of the lilac live in you, along with its beautiful spiritual gifts. You are dancing with the daffodils with a beautiful smile on your face. PAUSE Now, take a moment, and hold onto the happy feeling you get while dancing with the daffodils. Bring that smile, and that joy back to here and now. And, know that any time you need a little pick-me-up, you can always do-si-do with a daffodil. Sitting quietly in a chair, you hold the flower to you nose and breathe. PAUSE As you breathe in the scent, your mind and body relax. the flower smells light and fresh, with a gentle calming effect. You take some time and indulge in tranquility. PAUSE After a while, you put the lavender down, and lean over the bowl to smell the lotus. A sweet floral aroma fills your nose, PAUSE As you sit with the scent of the lotus, You feel your consciousness open, as if connecting with the Divine. Take a minute and sit with the Divine. Listen to what message Spirit wants you to bring to you. PAUSE Now, take a deep breath, and come back to the present. LONG PAUSE Now breathe. Just breathe. and let your mind relax more, while you turn inward. LONG PAUSE As you breathe in and out, you pause and listen, til you find a gentle rhythm that hums with your body. LONG PAUSE As you focus on the rhythm, imagine the hum beginning to beat like a drum. PAUSE The drum beats slowly and steadily. Gentle beats tinged with an energy that awakens you from the inside. PAUSE Draw in a breath again and allow your mind to open… Open to seeing the beautiful, handmade drum of your soul. PAUSE Now, take a moment to look at the drum, to see your hand reaching out and touching it, exploring it with curiosity and love. PAUSE And as the drum beats, you observe colors escaping and dancing before you and all around you, Altogether. PAUSE Your soul drum holds rainbows that light up from within, and mountains that keep you strong and steady. PAUSE Your soul drum holds the colors of the desert that swirl like sand all around you, all in you. PAUSE Your soul drum holds the colors of the ocean, Blues and greens that flow by you and in you in rhythmic waves. PAUSE And after a moment, the drumbeat quickens, ever so slightly, with more colors playing before you, and playing in you. PAUSE All the colors of life live and breathe in your soul drum…. In you. PAUSE Imagine now that the colors take shape, and that those shapes become people, people dancing to the drum. PAUSE And those people have colors, dancing to the beat, dancing to your soul drum. PAUSE And as the dance goes on, you notice more drums join in, building energy within you. PAUSE Now imagine, the drums are accompanied by singing in all different languages and shouts of joy. PAUSE And as the drums play, and the people dance and shout for joy, you notice the energy lifting and awakening you. PAUSE And again, you draw in a deep breath, while the drums keep playing and the people keep dancing and the joyful energy moves through you. PAUSE Now, imagine that the dancers slowly dissolve And the extra drummers fade until you hear just your soul drum again. PAUSE Allow yourself to draw in a deep breath, and notice that the drumbeat slowly melts into a hum again. PAUSE And as you listen to the hum, it begins to soften to blur and to slowly evaporate within. PAUSE And as the noises dissolve in you you notice a gift they leave. You feel their energy and life flowing through you. PAUSE Now imagine all the energy of your soul drum, including all of Mother Nature and all the world’s people, dancing with life within you. PAUSE And as you embrace this energy, see yourself gently opening your eyes and greeting the day with joy and a smile. Let each breath deepen your awareness. Let each breath awaken your consciousness. PAUSE Now, pause for a moment, and see if you can imagine sitting on a pier. The sun is shining. You can feel its warmth on your cheeks. A gentle breeze tussles your hair. And little waves lap against the pillars of the pier. PAUSE Now, draw in a deep breath, and imagine seeing a fisherman near you. You sit quietly and observe the fisherman. PAUSE As you watch him, the first thing you notice is his silence. He sits serenely, with an abundance of patience, just waiting for a tug on his line. There is peace in and around him. PAUSE You draw in a breath, and let the peace you see in the fisherman settle in you. PAUSE Then, you notice his gaze. It’s far off and meditative. Like there’s something well beyond his fishing line. You look toward the horizon where the sun and water meet. A calm comes over you. PAUSE After a moment, the fisherman rises. He winds the reel smoothly. It clicks continuously– The only noise in the air– until the line is completely in. Then he hooks on the rod and packs up. Then softly, gingerly, he leaves the dock. PAUSE Now, take a deep breath, and bring your consciousness back to the present, And, as you do, bring the tranquility of the fisherman with you. PAUSE Hold onto the peace you feel. Keep it with you throughout your day. And know that if it begins to slip, just breathe, and go back to the dock, next to the fisherman. And the beautiful peace will return to you. PAUSE And while standing in the rain, you notice that it gets harder and loud for a minute. Just let yourself feel it. PAUSE After a moment, you notice that the rain softens. It barely makes a sound, and just tickles your skin. PAUSE Now, take a deep breath, and imagine there’s a little wind with the rain, that tilts the rain sideways. You can feel it like tiny pinches to your face. PAUSE Now, take a breath, and as you do, notice the rain softens again. This time, it softens and the sun begins shining through the raindrops. Take a moment and feel the rain and the sun on your face. PAUSE And while feeling The rain and the sun, You notice in the distance A rainbow arching across the sky. Open your heart, and feel the beauty and joy of the rainbow in you. PAUSE Now, breathe again, and find yourself back inside, dry and comfortable and looking out at the rain. PAUSE As you gaze at the rain, allow yourself to ponder how the rain has many facets, just like you. And no matter what type of rain falls, or what facet you are showing the world, there is a purpose. A purpose that guides you like a compass. A purpose that gives you strength. A purpose that you hold near and dear… for always. PAUSE Draw in another breath, and as you do, feel joy and a sense of playfulness rise up in you. Feel a smile forming on your face. PAUSE Now, open yourself to the beauty of imagination. Take a breath, and visualize a beach, on a stunning summer day. PAUSE Now, using that wonderful imagination, scan the beach, and as you do, notice that you have a shape, a rounded shape. You are a brightly colored beach ball. PAUSE Now, breathe, and see yourself, rising high in the air, after a child tosses you toward the clouds. The clouds are beautiful against the turquoise sky. PAUSE Now, imagine, just as you are about to land, a strong breeze blows, and sends you skipping up and down over the shoreline. PAUSE After a few moments, the breeze lifts you high into the air. You can see everything. PAUSE As the breeze softens, you float down. only, instead of landing on the sand, you land in the waves. Waves that gently rock you to and fro. Waves that carry you out to the deep blue sea. PAUSE Now, draw in a deep breath, and allow yourself to enjoy floating in the water. You notice the seabirds that fly by, wondering what you are. You notice the fish that swim around you, occasionally nudging you with their snout out of curiosity. And you see the dolphins that bump you with their noses in loving play. It feels absolutely wonderful. Absolutely freeing. PAUSE And, as you float with the current, out farther and farther to sea, there is no fear, no sense of being lost, no worry. Instead, as you gaze at the blue water before you, there is a sense that your adventure is just beginning. Enjoy it. PAUSE As the breeze blows, you notice that it lifts the wings of birds, carrying them higher. You watch as the birds fly past the sun, chirping in delight. PAUSE While traveling alongside the breeze, you come to a man mowing his yard, with sweat dripping down his face. The breeze seems to wind itself up, and wrap around the man, giving him a bit of cooling before blowing on. PAUSE As you continue floating along with the breeze, you come to two boys with caps on. Once again, the breeze seems to wind up, and then whoosh! The caps go flying End over end, with the boys laughing and chasing after them. You almost think you hear the breeze giggling. PAUSE After a few moment, the breeze slows, and then fades away. But, as you bring yourself back to the present, you express your gratitude for the fun and freedom you can have with a whimsical, breezy disposition. Today and every day. PAUSE And as you wear the sunglasses, you notice a feeling of secrecy. like you can see the world, but it can’t see you fully. There’s something fun and mysterious about wearing your sunglasses.
