What Your Woman Needs w/ Dr. Willard Harley Jr. EP 128
Young men are clueless and what a woman really needs and are shell-shocked when they discover that everything they thought about women changed the day AFTER they got married. What's worse is when a man discover this 25 years later when his wife leaves him after the children leave the home. Don't be that man. Learn the top needs of your wife so that your marriage will be its best version. Join us with author Bill Harley and his classic book His Needs Her Needs with over 4 million copies sold! Willard F. Harley, Jr., Ph.D. is best known as author of the internationally best selling book, His Needs, Her Needs: Building An Affair-proof Marriage. Over four million copies have been purchased, and it is available in twenty-two foreign translations. Dr. Harley earned a Ph.D. degree in psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1967 and has been a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Minnesota since 1975. For the first ten years after earning his degree, he taught psychology at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. During those years, he was also a frustrated part-time marriage counselor with little success in helping couples. In 1973 he discovered that he was not alone in his failure to save marriages -- almost everyone in the marital therapy profession were also failing. So he spent the next two years designing an entirely new approach (see How Dr. Harley Learned to Save Marriages). When his success rate skyrocketed in 1977, he resigned from his teaching position to counsel full-time. Over the next ten years his solo practice developed into the largest network of mental health clinics in Minnesota (thirty-two locations) with over one hundred psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and chemical dependency counselors working with him to provide a full range of mental health services. He became the exclusive provider of mental health and chemical dependency services in ten counties, and had offices in other counties as well. One of his responsibilities was to write support materials for the clinical program he directed. He created over one hundred questionnaires and wrote numerous articles that were given to clients as part of their therapy. Among the materials he wrote was His Needs, Her Needs, which was first published in 1986. Although it was written to be a support text for his marriage counseling program, within three years it had become a national best-seller and a basic reference for marriage counselors throughout the nation. By 1988 he found himself spending almost all of his time administering his clinics, and very little time doing what he enjoyed most -- improving his marital therapy program. So he began turning his clinics over to the counselors who worked with him, and the ownership of his last clinic was transferred in 1993. Since then, he has written 19 more books and hundreds of articles. Dr. Harley continues to write, speak, and lead seminars throughout the US and Canada. For information regarding booking arrangements for his weekend seminar, "How to Fall in Love and Stay in Love," click this link for more information. Dr. and Mrs. Harley also host a daily one-hour call-in show, Marriage Builders Radio. It can be heard on radio stations and on the Internet. They have been married for 54 years and live in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. They have two adult children, who are now working with them as marriage coaches, and four grandchildren. Marriage After Infidelity w/ Dr. Earl Wilson EP 126
Dr. Earl Wilson "God has called Sandy and me to minister to people in crisis resulting from pornography and other forms of sexual entanglements. These invariably bring pain and destruction. "After having lived for the Lord for many years I became entangled in my own sexual sin. My entanglements had reached addictive proportions, and my sinful choices had put in jeopardy all the things I claimed to be near and dear to me: my marriage, my family, my career, and my writing and speaking ministry. I had been "sorry" for my sexual sin, but I had never truly repented. I now understand that true repentance demands turning around and running away from the sin. I finally did repent in 1989. I remember crying out to God, 'Lord I will face it all, and I will forsake it all.' Repentance became the foundation for a prolonged period of emotional and spiritual healing leading to recovery and restoration. I am grateful for the Lord, my wife, family, and the spiritual care team who walked with me through the process." Dr. Earl Wilson received his ThB. degree from Multnomah University and his Ph.D from the University of Oregon. Earl became a counselor at Idaho State University and then a faculty member at the University of Nebraska, where he was promoted to tenured full professor and director of the Counseling Psychology and Rehabilitation Counseling Programs. During the 1970-1971 school year, Earl and his family took a leave of absence, and Earl taught counseling at the National University for Teachers Education in Tehran, Iran. In the fall of 1977, Earl joined the faculty of Western Seminary as a professor in the doctoral program in psychology. He served in that capacity until 1989 when his sin became public. After serving a year of probation levied by Oregon State Board of Psychologist Examiners, Earl returned to private practice but shifted the focus to men who are entrenched in sexually compulsive behavior (sexual addiction). Earl has authored and co-authored 15 books and booklets. Authentic Leadership w/ Kai Munshi EP 120
Kai Munshi is a Security Manager for a Federal Agency based in Georgia. Federal Law Enforcement for 16 years previously serving with: S. Department of Justice – Office of Inspector General in Washington, D.C. as a Special Agent S. Secret Service as a Special Agent in Denver Field Office and later with the Counter Assault Team in Washington, D.C. Prior to becoming a Special Agent, served for 8 years as an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps (peacetime service -- no combat deployments) with: 3rd Marine Division in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii Marine Corps Ground Defense Security Forces in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba Marine Corps Combat Development Command in Quantico, Virginia My proudest professional accomplishment is earning the title of a U.S. Marine and serving as an infantry officer. My experience as a Marine instilled a set of values, physical and mental fortitude, and drive to succeed that define my work ethic. That experience early in my adult life also helped me become extremely adaptable to change. I embrace change and love it. Personally (and most importantly), I absolutely adore and am very proud of my wife and daughters. They are kind, loyal, funny, and inspire me to be a better man. I am very passionate about the concept of authentic leadership. There are a lot of different definitions of an authentic leader but mine would be an individual who is self-aware of their strengths and weakness, leads with integrity, has purpose, puts others above themselves, and doesn't pretend to be something they are not. The world is seriously lacking in these types of individuals. My mission at the present time is to develop into a truly authentic leader – a man who leads with the same conviction at home that he does at work. If I am being consistent and truly genuine in all my interactions, my friends and family should see me in the same light as my co-workers, subordinates, and superiors. Made for the Battle w/ Shannon McGurk EP 107
I'm the happily married father of 12 children and live on a farm in Virginia, but this is a miracle. In 1992, I was a broke, divorced father of a two-year-old son. I didn't want to marry again and I didn't want any more children. Today I have a strong marriage, eight sons and four daughters. Pretty crazy. The most formative years of my adult life were in the Army. For 20 years I was an Armored Cavalry Officer and China Foreign Area Officer. I served in the U.S., Europe, throughout the U.S. Government, in The Pentagon, the Hong Kong Consulate and the Beijing Embassy. I left the Army in 2002 to start businesses but had to do it part time because I had to feed my family. I worked for Northrop Grumman, IBM, ManTech and other corporations. I got the best training in the world from the Army and these iconic American corporations. I started my first business in 2002. Business ownership is scary, liberating and addictive, but making money using your creativity and wits is life-changing. I have started several companies, but I crashed the best one in 2007 when I tried to drive it too fast. That same month my daughter got cancer and that same year my son was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. Lots of challenges. Crashing that business when I did made me look hard in the mirror and confront my life. As a husband, as a father, as a man, I wasn't stacking up. I had to learn new skills and dig deep to get back on my feet. I had to heal a lot of wounds I had caused. I had to grow, learn and improve. A lot. I think I have and I'd like to offer my own experiences to you. https://www.authenticmasculinity.com Get Your Copy Now! of Tell Them, What Great Fathers Tell Their Sons and Daughters www.meninthearena.org Men in the Arena Books and Swag Support the Podcast

MEET DAVID MURROW It's Sunday morning. Where are the men? Not in church. The average congregation in North America draws an adult crowd that's more than 60% female. Why do men and boys avoid church? He's the author of the best-selling book Why Men Hate Going to Church, with more than 150,000 copies in print in 12 languages. He's helped thousands of churches around the world attract, retain and empower men. Murrow is an entertaining speaker who handles this taboo subject with humor and grace. He's a television producer and writer by trade, and brings strong visual content to his presentation. You'll never see church the same way again. John Eldredge is an American author, counselor, and lecturer on Christianity. He is known for his bestselling book Wild at Heart. Eldredge describes himself, "I'm 55. I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. My wife Stasi and I have three sons. My graduate degree is in counseling. Professionally, I'm a writer and a speaker. I don't pastor. I'm not a preacher. I don't have a church that I lead." While living in Los Angeles Eldredge was looking for a "worldview." After exploring other religions, Eastern mysticism, Lao-Tzu, and New Age spirituality, he discovered the writings of Francis Schaeffer, whom he calls one of the best philosophers of the 20th century. Through Schaeffer, Eldredge came to Christ and later to the church. He eventually got a master's degree in counseling and practiced in Colorado Springs before working for Focus on the Family, where he served as Senior Fellow for Christian Worldview. John received his undergraduate degree in theater from California Polytechnic University (Pomona) and his MA in biblical counseling from Colorado Christian Universityunder the direction of Dr. Larry Crabb and Dr. Dan Allender. Prior to joining Focus on the Family in 1988, John served for five years on the staff of Sierra Madre Congregational Church in Southern California. In July 2000, John left Focus on the Family, where he worked for 12 years, to launch Ransomed Heart Ministries. John travels extensively in the U.S. and abroad. John, his wife, Stasi, and their three sons live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In addition to publishing many books, he has produced three videos: Risky Business: A Look at Gambling, Whatever Happened to Marriage?: A Look at Divorce, and Created Different?: A Look at Homosexuality. https://www.ransomedheart.com
