Ep 216"Optimism is Courage" w/ Matt Aulsbrook 216

He graduated law school in 2017 and got his bar card in 2018. He has since sold all except for one small agency. The money from the sale of the businesses has allowed him to pay off all debt excluding real estate. Ep 209"Finding an Opening in Your Market" w/ Patrick Cawley 209
This week on the show we have Patrick Cawley, an attorney at Keystone Elder Law PC, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania where he prepares estate plans and helps navigate government programs to pay for long-term care, Medicaid, Medicare, and Veterans Administration benefits. He also works with care facilities, funeral directors, the government, and others to ensure that people get the best care without losing their hard-earned savings. In today’s episode we’ll discuss working with clientele that aren’t comfortable with technology, educating first and how videos establish trust. Jim’s Hack: If you can get your hands on the old Magnetic Marketing, by Dan Kennedy, do it. It's some old school audio and sort of cheesy, but there's so many great marketing nuggets in there.Tyson’s Tip: Keep marketing, now, more than ever. You have an opportunity where everyone is in front of their screens all day, every single day. I don't care if you're doing paid advertising like pay‑per‑click, or Facebook ads, or if you're just doing free social media, freakin’ do it every single day. It's a very, very, very rare opportunity right now so take advantage of it. I can tell you, from experience, pay‑per‑click - the cost is way down and our numbers are way up. What would normally cost us thousands of dollars, we're paying for hundreds of dollars. Patrick’s Pointer: Stay grounded in this time of uncertainty by one simple daily discipline. That's just taking an inventory of your day before you go to sleep. So, simple questions like, “Did I feel any selfishness? Was I dishonest? Was I afraid? Do I need to take responsibility for something or make an apology?” I just think that asking these simple questions about your interactions or how you functioned during the day, when it becomes ingrained in you, you start catching yourself and you catch bad thoughts or bad habits before they take root and become a pattern. If you enjoyed the show, we’d appreciate a 5-Star review! The doors to the Maximum Lawyer Guild community are open! Ep 208"No Barrier to Results" w/ Elise Buie 208
This week on the show we have Elise Buie, owner of Elise Buie Famliy Law in Seattle, Washington. After undergoing her own divorce and multiple relocations due to Hurricane Katrina, she truly understood what it meant to put the “best interest of the kids” ahead of her own, which led her decision to focus her practice on family law and serving as a Guardian ad Litem advocating for children's best interest in high-conflict divorce and dependency matters. Elise rightfully prides herself on her ability to work through huge problems and major life transitions, as you’ll hear about in today’s episode.Jim’s Hack: Stick to your routine and connect with the people who give you guidance. This is not the time to pull back or isolate. Be in connection to help keep your mind right.Tyson’s Tip: Pick one project off the list of things you want to do for your practice, and over the next week work on that one thing. Elise’s Tip: Lighten up on outward expectations and stay connected to your partner. If you enjoyed the show, we’d appreciate a 5-Star review! The doors to the Maximum Lawyer Guild community are open! Joey has helped thousands of entrepreneurs and has spoken all over the country to help business owners stay safe and thriving. In today’s episode we’ll talk about building your team, online courses, and making a bigger impact.Jim’s Hack: Jim is looking into what part of immigration law can he make a course out of, the one thing he can use to get started. Jim encourages you to think about this for your own practice.Joey’s Tip: Consciously surrounding yourself with positive people, especially during this time.If you enjoyed the show, we’d appreciate a 5-Star review! The doors to the Maximum Lawyer Guild community are open! Ep 206"The Business Side of Being a Lawyer" w/ John Cannon 206
This week on the show we have John Cannon. John is the owner and founder of Cannon & Associates in Oklahoma City. A Firm dedicated to Fierce Advocacy for Families and Freedom. John is a former prosecutor, Public Defender, and Assistant Attorney General. The firm focuses on criminal defense, personal injury, and family law. In addition to his practice, John serves as a Judge Advocate in the Oklahoma National Guard; currently assigned to the 45th Infantry Brigade. In today’s episode we’ll talk about block scheduling, learning for growth, and developing written policies and procedures.Jim’s Hack: Brene Brown has a new podcast that launched about a week ago. The first episode was terrific. It's called Unlocking Us. I highly recommend it.Tyson’s Tip: It's important to celebrate our wins. As soon as you listen to this, I want you to think about the last 24 hours, list three of your wins and write them down. It'll really help change your mindset. I think we're trained, we’re not supposed to celebrate our wins for some reason. Celebrate your wins. It'll make you feel better. It'll help improve your day. It really will.John’s Tip: With things slowing down, block in time for your calendar. Block in an hour. Block in four hours. Trust me. I initially had to go a month and a half out to block time. Now, I don't have anything on Wednesday afternoon, and I don't have anything all day Friday. That allows me to put in that white space - family, and golf, and business development. I think you'll all be, as I've been amazed, that you can still practice and still serve all your clients while you block out time to handle the business side of your practices. The doors to the Maximum Lawyer Guild are now open!Check out all the member benefits and membership details here: https://maximumlawyer.com/theguild/Thanks so much for listening to the show! This week on the show we have Charlotte Christian, who operates an Alabama Divorce Law Firm and is working to expand her virtual model throughout the State of Alabama. In today’s episode we’ll talk about changing practice areas, working remotely, and scaling.Jim’s Hack: In this time of great uncertainty and anxiety, we need to be as transparent as we can, especially with our employees about the realities of the situation. We shouldn’t sugarcoat things. I also don’t think we should be alarmist, but I think we have to be realistic and we have to be honest. We have to be as honest and vulnerable and as transparent as we can be.Tyson’s Tip: Save time with the Reach app. You can create groups of people. Let’s say you have a bunch of lawyer friends, say criminal defense lawyers, and you need somebody to cover a court appearance, you can send a text to all of those people. Let’s say you’re a personal injury lawyer and you’ve got a question about underinsured motorist coverage or something like that, you can send it to all of those people at one point. It’s not a group text. It is an individual text to all of the different people in that group.Charlotte’s Tip: If you have an iPhone 10 or 11, you can get Verizon to add an additional line to your phone. It’s not a voice line. It’s not an internet line. It’s an actual cellular line. This way you have a personal line and a business line. Whenever you start to make a call, it lets you choose which line you’re going to use to make the call.If you enjoyed the show, we’d appreciate a 5-Star review! Thanks so much for listening to the show! If this is your first episode, go back and listen to some old ones and find topics that interest you.Tyson’s Tip: Tyson received Rocket Book for his birthday.
